Prayer for Israel Page Becomes One of Largest Prayer Pages on FB
CBN News 08-25-2017
One of the most divisive issues of our time is the existence of the nation of Israel, but one group is using social media to champion a worldwide prayer movement for the Jewish state.
The Jerusalem Prayer team on Facebook is more than 28 million members strong, making it one of the largest prayer groups on the social network. It's mission is simple -- to moblilze millions of people every day to pray for the peace of Jerusalem as directed in Psalm 122:6.
The Jerusalem Prayer team is an initiative of the Friends of Zion Museum, founded by author Mike Evans.
Evans says The Jerusalem Prayer Team allows Christians to to act as a "weapon of peace" against the growing anti-Semitism movements creeping-up on college campuses and political arenas across the world.
"It's Christians, especially in America, who form the firewall against anti-Semitism that so easily creeps into the international social and political conversation," Evan told Charisma News. "It's especially encouraging that the younger generation is standing with Israel and employing social media in spreading the message. Together, we are 'waging peace' against the violence and hatred that seems perpetually aimed at Israel and her people."
Evans is taking the fight beyond social media and to the very heart of Israel -- Jerusalem.
Friends of Zion is in the process of opening their Heritage Center which will unite Christian Zionists across the world. The museum will be a multimedia experience designed to bring the stories of Christian Zionists from around the world who help protect Jewish people from persecution and participated in the re-establishment of the nation of Israel.
So far, Friends of Zion has raised $37 million of the $50 million needed to open the center.
"We are well on our way to completion," says Mike Evans. "I am confident in our efforts, as well as the support of those who stand by Israel, to continue our momentum in establishing a Christian stronghold for peace in Jerusalem."

Will you stand with us for by giving a special gift today?
"Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: 'May they prosper who love you! Peace be within your walls and security within your towers!' For my brothers and companions' sake, I will now say, 'Peace be within you.' Because of the house of the Lord our God, I will seek your good" (Ps. 122:6-9).
In our last article, we looked at the dangers that the Jewish people and Jerusalem face nearly every day. There are terrorist threats and national threats, both near and far, against the very existence of God's people.
How do we pray for the peace of Jerusalem? The Hebrew word translated as "peace" is shalom. We tend to think of the English word "peace" as referring to the absence of war, but the meaning is much deeper. It literally means "wholeness," referring to prosperity, health and happiness. It can mean "to mend broken things."
When we pray for the peace of Jerusalem, we still want to pray for the absence of war. However, we are also praying for the broken things to be mended. Not only do we want the absence of war, but we also want to see love between different people groups in the city. While God is always capable of preventing war, we also want Him to heal the underlying hatred that causes these radicals to want to hurt God's people.
We should pray for Jerusalem to see booming prosperity as it pertains to the city's infrastructure, economy and innovation. We want the Jewish people to dwell in wholeness so that every aspect of their lives has wholeness. However, there is an even deeper reason to pray for these items, and it involves our Savior.
Many people from all over the world visit Jerusalem. If the city is prosperous and safe, then more people will be encouraged to visit. We want to pray for people to experience Jesus when they visit the city, no matter their background. He was crucified just outside the city gates (Heb. 13:12).
There are also archeological digs in and around Jerusalem. Every year, these digs yield archeological evidence that affirm the truth of God's Word. There are also digs revealing more about the specific details surrounding Jesus' arrest, death, burial and resurrection. These discoveries will help us reach a dying and lost world as the Lord's return draws near.
Today, I encourage you to take the time to pray for shalom or peace for Jerusalem. When we see the city in greater distress, let our prayers be offered in greater intensity. Pray for the city to be whole and the world to be reached for Jesus through it.

"In a time marked by hate, persecution, and intolerance—often beginning on social media—we've decided to use the internet as a tool for solidarity, inspiration, and friendship. We wage peace on the internet."—Dr. Mike Evans, founder of the Jerusalem Prayer Team
A new ideological war is being waged by a Zionist Christian organization, with astonishing success.
The Jerusalem Prayer Team, a worldwide social media initiative created by the Friends of Zion Heritage Center in Jerusalem, has just exceeded the 20 million followers, globally. The page is now the No. 1 ranked page in Israel, with a greater social media footprint than the combined followings of Hollywood star Gal Gadot and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
"In a time marked by hate, persecution, and intolerance—often beginning on social media—we've decided to use the internet as a tool for solidarity, inspiration and friendship. We wage peace on the internet," said Dr. Mike Evans, founder of the Friends of Zion Heritage Center in Jerusalem. "The Jerusalem Prayer Team is proud to bring together millions of young adults from countless nations and languages who want to see peace flourish in the Middle East."
The page is succeeding in its primary mission—to engage a new, global generation. Over 70 percent of the page's supporters are millennials, and it has millions of members across many countries in the world, including over 3 million in Indonesia, the country with the world's largest Muslim population.
With over 3.8 million weekly engagements on social networks, the Jerusalem Prayer Team Facebook page has more weekly impressions than President Donald J. Trump and many times more than the largest Christian cable network.
Dr. Evans notes, "Wars of the 21st century wars will be multifaceted: economic, digital, ideological and—nearly all of them—proxy wars. Most of them will be fueled by the internet. The internet is also the solution for the frontline for those of us who dream of peace, especially in the Middle East."
In America, millennials now total 75.4 million and purchase 54 percent of goods and services via their smartphones. They reject cable news and turn to social networks for information. According to Dr. Evans, all these factors make reaching millennials an imperative.
"In many ways, millennials are already shaping our world, but we must reach them where they are: social media," Dr. Evans said. "We must not forget that Facebook began on a college campus."
"Building the Jerusalem Prayer Team is just the beginning. This, among many other initiatives at the Friends of Zion Heritage Center, prepare us to fight a sophisticated war against anti-Semitism online and to rally global advocacy for the Jewish people as never before," said Dr. Evans. "With the BDS Movement, UNESCO, and anti-Israel sentiment on the rise worldwide we are prepared at the right time to provide real help to the Jewish people."
As part of a comprehensive, multi-faceted strategy to promote Christian support for Israel, the Jerusalem Prayer Team is an initiative of the Friends of Zion Heritage Center, which also includes the highly acclaimed Friends of Zion Museum in Jerusalem and the future Ambassador Institute, and the Corrie ten Boom House in Haarlem, Holland.
Located in the heart of Jerusalem, the Friends of Zion Museum retells the stories of Gentiles who have supported the state of Israel and the Jewish community. It's the first smart museum in the Middle East and the most "technologically saturated" museums in the world. During the first year of operation, over 100,000 individuals toured the facility. Its visitors have included state leaders like President Reuven Rivlin of Israel, President Rosen Plevneliev of Bulgaria, former U.S. presidential candidate Gov. Mike Huckabee, Nobel laureates, ambassadors and NBA and NFL athletes, among others.
The Ambassador Institute is the most recent initiative by the Friends of Zion Heritage Center to fight international anti-Semitism. It will have a real-time social network communication hub that will be linked to the thousands of Christian TV and radio stations, print media, churches and universities worldwide, with original content features and video clips distributed on the wire weekly. The center will also collaborate with one of the world's leading research companies to create Israel's first Christian Zionist think tank.
About Friends of Zion—Located in the heart of Jerusalem, the Friends of Zion Heritage Center is dedicated to bringing stories of love and heroism to the world. Magnificently told using ground-breaking technology found nowhere else in the nation, visitors experience the unfolding story as though stepping back in time. Accompanied by a moving original musical score, fantastic surround sound, lighting second-to-none, and interactive displays that appear to come to life before your very eyes, the Friends of Zion Museum is a once-in-a-lifetime experience for audiences from around the world. Visitors enter a whole new world, where they meet the biblical figures, academics, businessmen and military officials who, through their faith, have forged an everlasting bond between the Jewish and Christian peoples.

Quotes
What is the best elite school in Washington DC where all the elites send their children? Sidwell Friends, it is a Quaker school. That is where the president’s kids went to school. Great, let them. I think the poorest kid in Washington DC should have the right to go to the same school. Not stuck in a school system that has utterly failed. They are keeping parents in literally slavery. -Doctor William Forstchen

Psalm 122:6 MEV Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: “May they prosper who love you!
“Pray for the peace of Yerushalayim; may they prosper that love thee.” (Psalm 122:6)
Ivanka did some grassroots campaigning for her father in Florida on Friday, assuring Jews that there was no greater friend to Israel.
While at speaking at the synagogue of Bal Harbour in Surfside, Florida, she told the Jewish Insider, “My father will be an unbelievable champion for Israel and for the Jewish people. You will not be disappointed.”
When asked about her father’s promise to recognize Jerusalem as the Israeli capital by moving the US Embassy to the city, her reply was unequivocal.
“One hundred percent,” Ivanka responded. “One hundred percent, Jerusalem is the eternal capital, so 100 percent.”
This is a relatively recent development in his Israel policy since he refused to commit to to recognizing a unified Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, at the Republican Jewish Coalition in December, saying that to do so would compromise him as a peace broker.
Sending his daughter to a state with a substantial Jewish population was a savvy move for the Republican presidential candidate, since Ivanka converted to Judaism before marrying Jared Kushner in 2009. Ivanka revealed that her father, a Presbyterian, had a positive reaction to her conversion.
“I so respect the fact that he supported me from day one,” she said. “There was no question, there was no argument. He was very supportive.”
Asked how Judaism has inspired her to be what she is today, Ivanka said, “I feel like Judaism helps your moral compass,” adding, “It’s been a great blessing in my life.”
In comparison, Chelsea Clinton, the daughter of Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton, married Mark Mezvinsky, a Jewish investment banker in 2010, in an interfaith marriage officiated by a Reform rabbi and a Methodist pastor.
Clinton is reported to be leading in Florida by a seemingly insurmountable 43 points. This preference is only among non-religious Jews. In a poll conducted by Jim Gerstein from GBA Strategies66 percent of non-religious Jews prefer Clinton as compared to 22 percent who prefer Trump. Among Orthodox Jews, 77 percent prefer Trump while 22 percent prefer Clinton.
Florida is expected to be a hotly contested key state in the election and Jewish voters represent 3 to 6 percent of the electorate. Clinton is ahead by 3.3 percentage points in Florida, according to the RealClearPolitics average.

Pastor John Hagee (Photo: Wiki Commons)
On Monday, Christians United for Israel (CUFI), led by Pastor John Hagee, held its 11th annual Washington Summit in the nation’s capitol. The two-day event drew top speakers from the pro-Israel global community, including Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu via satellite, and boasted an attendance of over 5,000 people.
In an exclusive email interview with Breaking Israel News on the occasion, Pastor Hagee, the founder and national Chairman of CUFI and one of the Christian community’s strongest voices for Israel, shared his hopes and beliefs for the future of the pro-Israel Christian movement and offered his strongest arguments in favor of supporting the Jewish state.
He began by explaining that the need to stand with Israel is more urgent today than ever before, pragmatically as well as spiritually. “Israel’s enemies are our enemies. Israel’s fight is our fight,” Pastor Hagee declared, pointing to the current global spread of Islamic terrorism as evidence of this truth.
“If this wasn’t clear before, our shared enemies are making it crystal clear as they strike in Tel Aviv, Kiryat Arba, Brussels, Paris, Nice, San Bernardino and Orlando.”
Israel has long been at the forefront of the war against radical Islamic violence, he continued, making it a key ally in the war on terror.
“Radical Islam is more violent and aggressive than ever. This makes it more important than ever to support our front-line ally in the fight against radical Islam: Israel.”
Hagee admitted that the anti-Israel voices spreading through America are loud and strong. He attributed this to an appealing, oversimplified narrative which is easy to understand – unlike the actual situation in the Middle East.
“The biggest challenges [CUFI and Christian Zionists] face are the lies told by Israel’s detractors. Israel’s enemies advance simple, attractive myths. And the truth about Israel is often more difficult to convey than the myths,” he explained to Breaking Israel News.
“For example, the Jewish state’s enemies call Israel an apartheid state. Anyone who’s spent even an hour in Israel understands how outrageous this lie is. But with this one short sentence Israel is demonized.
“Explaining the reality – Israel’s diversity, Israel’s tolerance, Israel’s equal rights – takes more than one sentence.”
“If you value peace, equality and liberty, you should stand with Israel,” he said, describing why liberal students can and should identify with Israel. “One of the great assets Zionists have is that Israel exemplifies many of the ideals about which our young people are most passionate.
“Concerned with freedom of religion? Israel guards that freedom for every person regardless of their faith. Focused on freedom of the press? You’d be hard-pressed to find a country with a more vibrant and open media. Impressed by diversity? Israel is a celebration of ethnic and religious diversity. I could go on.”
While getting out the pro-Israel message is indeed fraught with challenges, the “vast majority” of America’s Christians stand with Israel, said Hagee, estimating that there are “tens of millions of Christian Zionists” in the US alone.
As for those Christians who support the BDS movement or other anti-Israel activities – a growing group which includes the Southern Baptist Convention and the Presbyterian Church USA – Hagee has a simple message.
“You are misguided,” he said. “Yes, our Christian values demand that we have compassion for those that suffer. But if you blame Palestinian suffering on Israel then you’re ignorant about this conflict.”
Hagee suggested that anti-Israel sentiment is an offshoot of adherence to Replacement Theology, which holds that Christians have succeeded the Jews as God’s chosen people, essentially nullifying the Hebrew Bible.
In other words, Christians who do not support Israel are defying the Bible – and embracing anti-Semitism.
“If you believe that God has replaced the Jewish people as his chosen people then you’re ignorant about God’s word,” he said. “Those who advance Replacement Theology are advancing an anti-Semitic theology.
“And make no mistake,” he added. “Anti-Semitism is sin.”
He praised the interfaith nature of his organization’s work, which he said is very different from the “cold dialogues in which people agree to disagree” that have marked most interfaith efforts until now.
CUFI emphasizes the commonalities, not the differences, explained Hagee. “What is great about CUFI is that we bring Christians and Jews together to focus on those things we passionately share: love of Israel and the Jewish people.”
Hagee acknowledged the initial reluctance felt by many in the Jewish community towards working with Christians. “We know that for centuries Jews were persecuted by those who carried the cross, and we know that many in the Jewish community are thus understandably wary of Christians bearing gifts,” he said.
“But we’ve shown that CUFI is a non-proselytizing organization, and that we are focused exclusively on being a friend to the Jewish people and the Jewish state.”
In the end, there is no better reason to stand with Israel than the simple fact that “God is Israel’s ultimate protector,” Hagee told Breaking Israel News in closing. “As Christians we are blessed with the opportunity to stand with His Chosen People.”
The influential pastor ended on a somber note with a hint of warning.
“Israel will survive and thrive – the only question is whether or not Christians and Americans will be on the right side of history and God’s blessings.”
