Biblical Reasons to Stand with Israel as the World Combats Terrorism

“Sojourn in this land and I will be with you and bless you.” (Genesis 26:2–6)
Western civilization is facing an onslaught of conflicting messages. On the one hand, hundreds of thousands of Muslim refugees are being welcomed into countries around the world under the auspices of humanitarian aid. On the other hand, people are fearful of the spread of radical Islam and the terrorism which comes with this extremism.
Yet, Israel remains on the front page of news reports around the world. As the only democracy in the Middle East, a place where all religions are free to worship and all cultures attend its universities, Breaking Israel News sat down with David Rubin, the founder and president of the Shiloh Israel Children’s Fund and a survivor of a miraculous terror attackto hear his views on Islam and the Biblical reasons to stand with Israel.

“I always talk about the role Israel plays in the world,” Rubin told Breaking Israel News. “Despite it being a tiny country, smaller than the size of New Jersey, it is the world leader for freedom against Islamic terror and the encroaching Islamic tsunami taking place today in Israel, the US and across all western civilizations.”
Rubin explained that the goal of Islam is to change western civilization from a Judeo-Christian way of life to one under Islamic Sharia law. “If that happens,” he continued, “freedom of press, religion, dress and speech will be done away with. Islamic Sharia law will take over which does not tolerate anything but Islam.”
Israel may be on the front lines battling terror and Islamic extremism. But, more and more countries are finding their demographic landscapes shifting dramatically. “Muslims are not only looking to destroy Israel,” noted Rubin. “Rather, they seek the end of all of western civilization and the rest of the free world as we know it.”
According to Rubin, today, people do not understand the need to stand with Israel. Rubin, who lives in Israel’s Biblical heartland, explained the Biblical reasons and practical importance of supporting the Holy Land.
Quoting God’s promise to Abraham in Genesis 12:3, “I will bless those who bless you [Israel], and curse those who curse you,”  Rubin shared, “As a religious person, I believe in God’s promises. When the US stood with Israel and didn’t force us to give up our land, America thrived. Since the Carter administration, presidents have pressed Israel to hand over land and the US has suffered the consequences.”
The word “Israel” is mentioned more than 2,300 times in the Bible, second only to the various names of God. As it says in Deuteronomy 11:12, Israel is “a land for which the LORD your God cares; the eyes of the LORD your God are always on it, from the beginning even to the end of the year.”
Last Chance for 2015 Donations in Support of Shiloh
“God is clearly passionate about the land of Israel and it’s people. Shouldn’t we all be?” asked Rubin.
Today, many people around the world believe that the prophecy of Isaiah 43:6 is being fulfilled: Bring My sons from afar and My daughters from the ends of the earth”. Millions of dispersed Jews have returned to the Holy Land and the once barren country is flourishing.
“But, terrorism has taken its toll,” noted Rubin. “It is critical for the west to defend and help those that fight terrorism. I believe that God placed Israel in the Middle East surrounded by Arab countries so that we can be a light unto the nations as it says in Isaiah 49:6, ‘I will also make You a light of the nations so that My salvation may reach to the end of the earth.’ We have a special responsibility to lead. But, we cannot do that without support.”
Rubin points out three ways that people can stand with Israel. He stated, “First, pray for Israel’s welfare and that we should meet the challenges we face every day, as it says in Psalm 122:6, ‘Pray for the peace of Jerusalem. May they prosper who love You.’”

Second, get politically involved. Support political leaders in the free world who stand with Israel, not those who ask to withdraw from Israeli land, especially the Biblical heartland.
Thirdly, connect directly with those on the front lines. God sent Abraham specifically to this land, as it says in Genesis 12:1, ‘Go forth from your country, and from your relatives and from your father’s house, to the land which I will show you; and I will make you a great nation.’
“We, on the front lines have listened to God’s command and feel that we are holding down the borders for the ultimate redemption. But, we need help, especially when it comes to supporting children traumatized by terror,” Rubin explained to Breaking Israel News. “The Shiloh Israel Children’s Fund heals trauma and restores the lost innocence of children. This is our future so that they can grow into productive, idealistic and caring adults willing to sacrifice for the Holy Land.”
Rubin ended by noting that there is a Jewish tradition that after a person passes on to the next world they receive a review of their life, “similar to the self-reflection that people do as they approach the end of the calendar year.”
“We learn from Jewish sources that when a person dies and comes before his Creator, he is asked, ‘Have I stood with God and been good to my family? Have I stood up for my country, God’s chosen people, the people of Israel and the Land of Israel?’ Don’t wait until that point. Stand and support Israel today.”
LOVE FOR HIS PEOPLE FEATURED BOOK

Why Israel? Why not?

This little booklet consists of messages previously written in my books, which of themselves contain many various themes. I wanted to devote one book to just Israel and the Jewish people, and so this small booklet was compiled.

As you read the following, consider the truth contained in Scriptures, from Genesis to Revelation, which spell out the commitment of God the Father to choose a people who will be a light to the nations. He chose the Jews, and gave them the Promised Land of Israel.

It does not matter what other national governments try to say, do, or accomplish apart from the plans and purposes of the Lord. They will fail. His Word is true. It is eternal. He is the same, yesterday, today and forever, and thus His commitment in keeping His promises made to the Jewish people will be fulfilled. I hope you stand with them in these last days.

YEAR IN REVIEW: Jesus' Words Backed by Archaeology: The Stones Are Crying Out

Editor's Note: 2015 was a big year in the church—and in the world. This week we're looking at some of the biggest stories of the year, selected based on feedback from our readers. Thanks for reading Charisma News this year and stay tuned as we continue expanding our coverage in 2016 to include more spiritual insights on the stories that matter most to you.

This article was published February 5th.
A few years ago, people exploring caves outside Jerusalem came across the find of a lifetime: an ancient burial cave containing the remains of a crucified man. This find is only one in a series of finds that overturns a century-old scholarly consensus.
That consensus held that the Gospels are almost entirely proclamation and contain little, if any, real history. The remains belonged to a man who had been executed in the first century A.D., that is, from the time of Jesus.
As Jeffrey Sheler writes in his book Is the Bible True? the skeleton confirms what the evangelists wrote about Jesus' death and burial in several important ways.
First, location—scholars had long doubted the biblical account of Jesus' burial. They believed that crucified criminals were tossed in a mass grave and then devoured by wild animals. But this man, a near contemporary of Jesus, was buried in the same way the Bible says Jesus was buried.
Then there's the physical evidence from the skeleton. The man's shinbones appeared to have been broken. This confirms what John wrote about the practice of Roman executioners. They would break the legs of the crucified to hasten death, something from which Jesus, already dead, was spared.
This point is particularly noteworthy, since scholars have long dismissed the details of John's Passion narrative as theologically motivated embellishments. Another part of John's Gospel that archaeology has recently corroborated is the story of Jesus healing the lame man in John 5.
John describes a five-sided pool just inside the Sheep Gate in Jerusalem where the sick came to be healed. Since no other document of antiquity—including the rest of the Bible—mentions such a place, skeptics have long argued that John simply invented the place. But as Sheler points out, when archaeologists decided to dig where John said that the pool had been located, they found a five-sided pool. What's more, the pool contained shrines to the Greek gods of healing.
Apparently John didn't make up the pool after all. The dismissal of biblical texts without bothering to dig points to a dirty little secret about a lot of scholarly opinion: Much of the traditional suspicion of the biblical text can only be called a prejudice.
That is, it's a conclusion arrived at before one has the facts. Scholars long assumed that the Bible, like other documents of antiquity, was essentially propaganda, what theologian Rudolf Bultmann called "kerygma" or proclamation.
But this prejudice does an injustice to biblical faith. Central to that faith are history and memory.
Christians believe that God has acted, and continues to act, in history. For us, remembering what God has done is an act of worship—something that brings us closer to God.
Thus, while these discoveries in the desert may come as a surprise to some skeptics, they're no surprise to Christians. While archaeology alone cannot bring a person to faith, these finds are an eloquent argument for not dismissing the truth of Scripture before at least examining the evidence, because, as we are learning every day, Jesus meant it when He said, "The very stones will cry out."

Orthodox Rabbis Issue Groundbreaking Declaration Affirming ‘Partnership’ With Christianity - Israel, Islam & End Times

Orthodox Rabbis Issue Groundbreaking Declaration Affirming ‘Partnership’ With Christianity - Dec. 20, 2015   Israel, Islam & End Times

A GROUP of Jewish leaders issued a historic public statement affirming their desire to accept “the hand offered to us by our Christian brothers and sisters.”
Agroup of prominent Orthodox rabbis in Israel, the United States and Europe have issued a historic public statement affirming that Christianity is “the willed divine outcome and gift to the nations” and urging Jews and Christians to “work together as partners to address the moral challenges of our era.”
“Jesus brought a double goodness to the world,” the statement reads. “On the one hand he strengthened the Torah of Moses majestically” and on the other hand “he removed idols from the nations,” instilling them “firmly with moral traits.”

This year 2015 marks the 50th anniversary of Nostra Aetate, the declaration issued in 1965 by the Second Vatican Council, which marked a watershed in Jewish-Christian relations.

In language unusual for its day, Nostra Aetate stated that “God holds the Jews most dear,” stressed the great “spiritual patrimony common to Christians and Jews,” and condemned “hatred, persecutions, displays of anti-Semitism, directed against Jews at any time and by anyone.”

Now, a group of Jewish leaders has responded in kind, expressing their desire to accept “the hand offered to us by our Christian brothers and sisters.”

“Christians are congregations that work for the sake of heaven who are destined to endure, whose intent is for the sake of heaven and whose reward will not denied,” the text reads.
The statement bears the title, “To Do the Will of Our Father in Heaven: Toward a Partnership between Jews and Christians,” and is signed by over 25 prominent Orthodox rabbis, who invite fellow Orthodox rabbis to join in signing the statement.
“Now that the Catholic Church has acknowledged the eternal Covenant between G-d and Israel, we Jews can acknowledge the ongoing constructive validity of Christianity as our partner in world redemption, without any fear that this will be exploited for missionary purposes,” it says.
Echoing recent words by Pope Francis, the document states: “We are no longer enemies, but unequivocal partners in articulating the essential moral values for the survival and welfare of humanity.”
“Neither of us can achieve G-d’s mission in this world alone,” it says.
According to Rabbi Shlomo Riskin, one of the statement’s initiators, the “real importance of this Orthodox statement is that it calls for fraternal partnership between Jewish and Christian religious leaders, while also acknowledging the positive theological status of the Christian faith.”
“This proclamation’s breakthrough is that influential Orthodox rabbis across all centers of Jewish life have finally acknowledged that Christianity and Judaism are no longer engaged in a theological duel to the death and that Christianity and Judaism have much in common spiritually and practically. Given our toxic history, this is unprecedented in Orthodoxy.” said Rabbi Dr. Eugene Korn, Academic Director of CJCUC.

Our Debt To Israel (Derek Prince) & Why Israel? (Steve Martin) - our gift to you...because we love the people of Israel.

Of all the Christian teachers of the Bible that have impacted us the most in regards to faith, and especially in our support for Israel, it has been Derek Prince (1915-2003). In 1979 Laurie and I heard first Derek at a Christian conference in Mackinac Island in northern Michigan. It was there that we heard this message - our debt to Israel as Christians.

From 1987-1990 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and then again from 2000-2005 in Charlotte, North Carolia, I had the honor of serving on staff with Derek Prince Ministries, as the Director of Finance and Operations. (Thanks David Selby for hiring me twice!)

The impact of Derek's message, with his love and support for Israel, directly instilled in our hearts the vital truth of Israel, as the Lord specifically brought to us through Scripture.

Derek's small booklet, Our Debt To Israel (which can be read in about 20 minutes), explains in a real, understandable way why Christians have a duty, responsibility, and privilege to support Israel and the Jews today.

Because of what this tremendous spiritual truth has done in our lives, with the Lord Jesus Himself giving us the heart to bless those whom He chose to reveal Himself through, the Jews, we want to share this eternal truth with you.

You just need to ask for it. Free. No cost to you, except to ask, and that you will promise to read it.

I will also send you my book that I wrote a year ago, entitled Why Israel? Also free. (And trusting you will read it too!)

We are not out to get your mailing address, or email. (We don't maintain lists for either.) We just want you to know the truth in regards to Israel, as stated in God's eternal Word.

Please respond by either mail or e-mail. If our stock runs out before you get your copies, I will get more of each to send you. (Derek Prince Ministries will like that too!)

Please see our address below to send us your request.

Sincerely,

Steve & Laurie Martin

Marriage and the growth of his ministry

Prince moved to Faith Tabernacle in Chicago, and then to Good News Church in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. In May 1971 Derek Prince Publications opened offices in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.[2] Derek Prince Publications became Derek Prince Ministries in December 1990.[3]
1987 - German missionary to Mongolia heard English broadcast (from Seychelles) and began to translate program into Mongolian.
1989 - DPM-Netherlands office opened, overseeing Eastern Europe and Soviet countries.
The Princes travelled extensively in ministry until Ruth died on 29 December 1998. The following list of countries covers their ministry from 1993 to 1998. Some of these countries were visited more than once: Russia, Germany, Kazakhstan, Hungary, South Africa, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Turkey, Poland, Bahrain, Cuba, Colombia, Switzerland, France, Portugal, India and England.[4]
Derek Prince Ministries continues to distribute his teachings and to train missionaries, church leaders, and congregations through the outreaches of more than thirty DPM offices around the world, including primary work in Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Russia, South Africa, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the United States.[5]

Teachings[edit]

At the time of Prince's death in September 2003, he was the author of over 50 books, 600 audio and 100 video teachings, many of which have been translated and published in more than 100 languages.[6] Some of the subjects that are covered in his teachings are prayer and fasting,[7] foundations of the Christian faith,[8] spiritual warfare,[9] God's love[10]and marriage and family.[11]

Demons and deliverance[edit]

As a Pentecostal, Prince believed in the reality of spiritual forces operating in the world, and of the power of demons to cause illness and psychological problems. While in Seattle he was asked to perform an exorcism on a woman, and he came to believe that Christians could be possessed by demons.[12] This was at odds with the more usual Pentecostal view that demons could not possess believers, but only "oppress" them. Prince believed that his deliverance ministry used the power of God to defeat demons.[13]

Israel[edit]

The grave of Derek Prince in Alliance Church International Cemetery, Jerusalem
Prince, who taught on many themes and subjects including the foundational truths of the Bible, was probably most noted for his teachings about demons, deliverance ministry, and Israel.[14] He strongly opposed replacement theology. His book The Destiny of Israel and the Church argues that the Church has not replaced Israel and that the covenant that God made with the nation of Israel still stands today. Prince also believed that the creation of the state of Israel was the fulfillment of biblical prophecy. Derek states in his book Promised Land, "The central theme of biblical prophecy, as it is being unfolded in our time, revolves around the land and the people of Israel. God is carrying out His predetermined plan to regather the Jewish people from their worldwide dispersion and restore them to their ancient homeland."[15]

The Shepherding Movement controversy[edit]

In 1968, Prince joined the Holy Spirit Teaching Mission (HSTM), which linked him to three other Charismatic Christian pastors living in Ft. Lauderdale: Don Basham, Bob Mumford, and Charles Simpson.[citation needed] The HSTM had been founded by businessman Eldon Purvis; but after the discovery of Purvis’s homosexuality the leadership team of the HSTM asked Basham, Mumford, Prince, and Simpson to help in managing the crisis.[16] Prince and the others changed the name of the HSTM to Christian Growth Ministries (CGM) in 1972.[17] CGM sought to counter what were seen as excesses within the Charismatic Movement by emphasizing discipleship and pastoral care which later on was abused by those in leadership positions. CGM continued with the publication of the New Wine magazine which began under the HSTM in June 1969.[18] David Moore, author of The Shepherding Movement, states "Essential for an accurate history of the Shepherding Movement is a complete collection of New Wine. The magazine, published from 1969 through 1986, was the principal publishing voice of the five teachers and the movement."[19] The group was joined by Ern Baxter, and the five men became known as the Fort Lauderdale Five. Their ministry became known as the Shepherding Movement. Different factions of the movement began to emphasise submission and authority.
Prince later left the group and repented in public over being a member.[20] There are several sermons where Prince commented on the shepherding controversy (sometimes referring to it as "Discipleship Movement").,[21] even in Ft. Lauderdale years after.[22]

Publications[edit]

Prince published many books and recorded over 600 audio teaching sermons and 100 video teachings.
His books include:
