King of Kings Community Jerusalem - Making Time for Community!

Shalom Friends!

We hope that you are healthy and well and enjoyed a wonderful Passover and Easter season! We have had a busy few months here as we've spent time investing in what we truly believe in: community.
The Esco Bistro youth program has been steadily growing! This past weekend, a group of 19 students and staff went camping along the Sea of Galilee. They went hiking, swimming and climbed a ropes course. When they weren't running arund, they spent time learning about Peter, no better place than the Sea of Galilee! Earlier this month Esco Bistro had a bake sale to fund the trip and raised over $700! We love having them as a part of our community and seeing then grow in their walk with the Lord.
In addition to our younger community members, our students at Kings School of Media participated in the Second, Annual KSM Mini Oscars! The students produced their own films and submitted them one week before the event for judging, then that evening winners for announced for categories from "Best Film" to "Best Cinematography" and "Best Sound Editing." The Jerusalem Post sent a reporter to attend the event and Kings School of Media had a write up in the paper the following week!
In order to further reach out beyond our community, the women on our staff organized a Women's Tea. They originally expected around 30 women, but over 80 signed up and attended! Ladies from communities all around Israel gathered in the Pavilion for tea, a light lunch and to be encouraged by different guest speakers. It was demanded that it become an annual event!
Finally, we are also thrilled to tell you that the floors on the P1 and C1 level of the Clal building have been cleaned and polished! As some of you may know, we have have been earnestly praying that the Clal building would be restored and seen as a place of beauty. Now under new management, the first order of action was to clean up the floors! It has brought new life and light to the area surrounding King of Kings, Cafe Forte and the Anchor of Hope Family Counseling Center. We are so excited and thankful for this answer to prayer!
You are a part of our community as well, so thank you for taking some time to read and learn about all the Lord is doing here at King of Kings! Don't forget to stop in and visit us at KKCJ.org or join us for service each Sunday through Live Stream, the links are below!

Many blessings!

History of the Watch of the Lord: Lessons From the Moravians - James W. Goll and Leslie K. Tarr

James W. Goll and Leslie K. Tarr:

James W. GollThe Call to the Watch

May the Holy Spirit restore in our day the ancient tools of the "Watch of the Lord." May He awaken us to be vigilant and on the alert, in order to cut off the enemy's plans and usher in God's ambassadors. We welcome the Holy Spirit to speak to us about the part we are to play in being watchmen on the wall.
Amen.

A Prayer Meeting That Lasted 100 Years
by Leslie K. Tarr

FACT: The Moravian community of Herrnhut, Saxony, in 1727, commenced an around-the-clock "prayer watch" that continued non-stop for over a hundred years.

FACT: By 1792, 65 years after commencement of that prayer vigil, the small Moravian community had sent 300 missionaries to the ends of the earth!

Prayer Storm by James W. GollCould it be that there is some relationship between those two facts? Is fervent intercession a basic component in world evangelization? The answer to both questions is surely an unqualified "yes."

The heroic eighteenth century evangelization thrust of the Moravians has not received the attention it deserves. But even less heralded than their missionary exploits is that one-hundred year prayer meeting that sustained the fires of evangelism!

During its first five years of existence, the Herrnhut settlement showed few signs of spiritual power. By the beginning of 1727, the community of about three hundred people was wracked by dissension and bickering, an unlikely site for revival!

Zinzendorf and others, however, covenanted to pray and labor for revival. On May 12, revival came. Christians were aglow with new life and power, dissension vanished and unbelievers were converted.

Looking back to that day and the four glorious months that followed, Count Zinzendorf later recalled: "The whole place represented truly a visible habitation of God among men." A spirit of prayer was immediately evident in the fellowship and continued throughout that "golden summer of 1727," as the Moravians came to designate that period.

On August 27 of that year, twenty-four men and twenty-four women covenanted to spend one hour each day in scheduled prayer. Some others also enlisted in the "hourly intercession."

"For over 100 years, the members of the Moravian Church all shared in the 'hourly intercession.' At home and abroad, on land and sea, this prayer watch ascended unceasingly to the Lord," stated historian A. J. Lewis.

ElijahList Prophetic Resources

The Memorial Days of the Renewed Church of the Brethren, published in 1822, ninety-five years after the decision to initiate the prayer watch, quaintly describes the move in one sentence: "The thought struck some brethren and sisters that it might be well to set apart certain hours for the purpose of prayer, at which seasons all might be reminded of its excellency and be induced by the promises annexed to fervent, persevering prayer to pour out their hearts before the Lord."

Holy Incense by Lillis BoyerThe journal further cites Old Testament typology as warrant for the prayer watch: "The sacred fire was never permitted to go out on the altar (Leviticus 6:13); so in a congregation is a temple of the loving God, wherein He has His altar and fire, the intercession of His saints should incessantly rise up to Him."

That prayer watch was instituted by a community of Believers whose average age was probably thirty. Zinzendorf himself was twenty-seven.
The prayer vigil by Zinzendorf and the Moravian Community sensitized them to attempt the unheard-of-mission to reach others for Christ.

Six months after the beginning of the prayer watch, the count suggested to his fellow Moravians the challenge of a bold evangelism aimed at the West Indies, Greenland, Turkey, and Lapland. Some were skeptical, but Zinzendorf persisted. Twenty-six Moravians stepped forward for world missions wherever the Lord led.

The exploits that followed are surely to be numbered among the high moments of Christian history. Nothing daunted Zinzendorf or his fellow heralds of Jesus Christ – prison, shipwreck, persecution, ridicule, plague, abject poverty, and threats of death. His hymn reflected his conviction:
Ambassador of Christ,
Know ye the way we go?
It leads into the jaws of death,
Is strewn with thorns and woe.
Watchman by Robert BartowChurch historians look to the eighteenth century and marvel at the Great Awakening in England and America, which swept hundreds of thousands into God's Kingdom. John Wesley figured largely in that mighty movement and much attention has centered on him.

Is it not possible that we have overlooked the place, which that round-the-clock prayer watch had in reaching Wesley and, through him and his associates, in altering the course of history?

One wonders what would flow from a commitment on the part of twentieth century Christians to institute a "prayer watch" for world evangelization, specifically to reach those, in Zinzendorf's words, "For whom no one cared."

Blessings to you in Christ Jesus!

There are great lessons we can learn from history and those who've gone before us. This is an excellent article that my friend James Goll posted about the history of the Moravians and the "Watch of the Lord" which is an excerpt from his book, The Lost Art of Intercession that you can order just below.

As James shares: May the Holy Spirit restore in our day the ancient tools of the "Watch of the Lord." May He awaken us to be vigilant and on the alert, in order to cut off the enemy's plans and usher in God's ambassadors.

Enjoy!

Community in the Last Days - Now Think On This by Steve Martin

Community in the Last Days
by Steve Martin

“Now the multitude of those who believed were of one heart and one soul; neither did anyone say that any of the things he possessed was his own, but they had all things in common.” (Acts 4:32 NKJV)

Any of you remember the days when you knew who your neighbor was, by name, and if you needed to borrow an egg, Grace next door always had one? And she really didn’t expect you to pay it back.

Remember the days when your lawn went uncut for a few days longer than it was supposed to, because the sickness you caught held on, but George got his out his lawnmower and just came and took care of it?
How about those times gone by when you needed a ride to the store, and gave Harry down the street a quick call, knowing he’d help you in your time of need?

It was a time when we just helped one another out. First, because we actually knew one another, and second, because that was just what we did. We were part of a close knit community, knowing the families who shared the neighborhood we lived in and with whom our kids played with each other. Outdoors of course.

Those were the days some have never seen in their lives. They have grown up in more recent times, possibly moving so often that they can’t remember the names of their school classmates two years ago, as they changed so much.

Many of us still cherish those good memories, and even desire those times to come back. I don’t think they will ever return as then, but I do have the hope that the Lord is bringing us back to those types of relationships necessary to survive in these coming last days.

You see, the Father God has always had it in His heart for people to be in families, in close-knit communities, in relationships where you know the ones you are meant to be close to. Throughout history He has given us the example of living in community life, supporting one another as needed, caring for the young and old in our midst. The Jewish community has been that example, even in the early days of the church, when they were together and had all things in common.

This Jewish heritage, part of our Jewish roots as believers in Jesus, who Himself grew up in a close-knit Jewish culture, has continued through the centuries demonstrating the heart of the Father. They have been given as a light to the nations to display the desired care and concern that God has for individuals, families, and the extended family life.

This community life is even more though than just having a next door neighbor there for that egg, or giving a hand to cut the grass. Actually having ongoing relationships - sharing concerns, helping one another raise kids in a healthy environment, and participating in His love in a real way beyond just talk - I believe He is going to restore.

As members of the Bride of Christ and the One New Man church of believers, we will live in such a way that others really will long for what we have together. They will see the love and desire it for themselves.

In these last days to come, no longer will our living exist for just “hers and mine and maybe two more.” We will be in real community - sharing, giving, supporting and depending on those joints whom we are connected to. Not in just some spiritual sense, but in the actual here and now.

Tough times tend to bring people together in living out actual community. He will see to it that His people do come together, and be the people we are called to be. Together. One heart, one mind, having all things in common. I believe that day is coming sooner than we think.

I look forward to it, personally.

Sharing Love From Sweden - The Body of Christ by Eva Haglund

Shalom Steve and friends!

I send you many greetings from Stockholm!

I heard the first flower is ready to come up - maybe the spring is coming in Stockholm.

Hope so. It is beautiful with all flowers in the spring and new things in the nature. It is like God doing new things in our lives.

I have been thinking and have some thoughts to share.

Thank you for all you do for God at Love For His People"!

Blessings,

Eva

Here are some of my thoughts to share:

I read about what Morris E.Ruddock wrote about when people were gathering in small groups and God met them. He also talked about to carry each other burdens and about Acts.2:46. I like what he wrote!

The Body of Christ needs this today!  The church is not the building. I believe in 1 Cor.12 that we Christians need each other and Jesus as the head, whom everyone needs first. He is the source.

We need more of Jesus. As Jesus wants to be our Friend - not just to come and ask for things. He wants love in Body of Christ with real friendship. In real friendship it is natural that people also meet in a home and eat together and have fellowship as in Acts.2:46

It is written in 1Cor.12 that as in a usual body "the hand" needs the " foot" and so on that we Christians need each other - all with different gifts. I think it is meant about friendships here, not just in a church building. You cannot know everyone well but we are all Christains in Body of Christ. Instead of being as one man, sometimes as the church we ought to stand together as one Body  - needing each other.

We all need each other. Jesus is the best friend you can have and we need Him firs. I also think about when Jesus talks about love to each other in John.15:12 "This is my commandment , that you love one another as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this than to lay down one`s life for his FRIENDS".

Jesus is talking about real friendship here. God is love and showed a lot of love. He came as a servant and washed the disciples feet - as I think this is also a picture of showing care to each other. Carrying each other´s burden. Helping each other.

It can be to comfort, to help anybody with practical things who has a big need; pray for anybody who does not feel well; visit anybody who do not feel well. The enemy has stolen a lot of real friendship in the Body of Christ and we need more of this back.

If a person lives far away you can write at e-mail for instance or call when you cannot meet in person. Jesus prayed that love among Christians would be a testimony to the world. John.17:21. Agape. The world needs love. All need love around us and God is love.1 John.4:8.

Sometimes evangelists are passionate for God wanting to win the world but they do not understand fellowship, friendship and that the people who get saved need people who take care of them, to show love and care.

Many people are wounded today and counseling is also fellowship. In John 21 Jesus taught on fellowship, practical love, breakfast, and a warm fire for the hungry, frozen and tired.

We need to learn to know of Jesus more and more .He loves us and loves when we talk to Him. He wants us to be with Him. He loves when we read His Word - the Bible.

Jesus is a real friend.

God of love,

Eva Haglund

THE REVIVAL CODE (c) Morris E. Ruddick

THE REVIVAL CODE

(c) Morris E. Ruddick

SIGN

"Bear one another's burdens and so fulfill the law of Christ." Gal 6:2

I have heard many, who experienced the days of the Charismatic Revival,
to describe it with the words: "It was like there was something in the air."
Indeed there was. God was moving. There prevailed an awareness and
expectation with God that simply incited a priority to being a part of it.

I heard an author named Doug Wead ("Tonight They'll Kill a Catholic,"
Creation House, 1974) share about the research he did in war-torn
Northern Ireland, during a time in which Protestants and Catholics
were meeting together for prayer. His research was to verify the
incredible stories of miracles that were coming from these gatherings.
His observation was that in seven out of ten of the stories, there
indeed had been amazing things that had happened, but the stories
had been exaggerated. However, he noted that in three out of ten of
the cases, that they could only be described with the word: "WOW!!"

That was a generation ago. Since that time, the Body of Christ
has experienced much growth, both in numbers and maturity. Yet
when the word revival is raised, those we are close to, to a person,
can be quoted as expressing a longing for more, much more of
this dimension of God being at the forefront of everyday life.

Under the pressures of the Cultural Revolution, the church in China
equally had amazing growth and stories of miracles. Church growth
in places like Indonesia and Korea can be explained by nothing
short of revival fires being released. Similarly, the church in Vietnam
has emerged as a vibrant, praying church that has truly touched the
hem of His garment.

The Issues

Yet, in defining sovereign moves of the Spirit, the question must be
asked: What is it that distinguishes true revival from the contagion
of a well-orchestrated program. From models of revival, what are
the codes and strategies that ignite and sustain it? Likewise, is
revival something that has manifested just since the Acts 2
outpouring of the Holy Spirit or is there precedent historically within
the Jewish roots to the faith?

One of my favorite remembrances from the early 1970s, days of
vibrant revival fires, was what we referred to as body ministry. It was
one of the distinguishing characteristics of those days. Praying for
one another was more spontaneous. We took time to gather; to
bear one another's burdens.

I recall vividly small group gatherings that nurtured short words of
wisdom, exhortations, testimonies of answered prayer, simple
scriptures participants may have had on their hearts; all of which
came together prophetically under the Spirit's guidance to form
a theme that highlighted and encouraged those people gathering.

These interactive dynamics would be followed by spontaneous
prayer as members of the group revealed needs tied to the words
given. Spontaneity, Word-based, Spirit led were the key factors
that marked these gatherings. It was the gatherings like this that
became the spark that ignited revival in a broad, cross-section
of the church.

Similarly, Acts 2 notes that the believers in the early church met
daily and broke bread together in their homes; in addition to
meeting in the temple. The Amplified version notes those
gatherings included the Lord's supper and prayers (v. 42). Paul
gave instruction for such gatherings (1 Cor 14:26) with the
admonition that when they came together that opportunity should
be given for ministering to one another; building one another up.
He made it clear that this vital function should be done under
the guidance of leadership, decently and in order.

The Old Covenant is rich with historical references to what
happened when God's people came together, as one. This
was the purpose of the feast days which served purposes such
as community-wide repentance (Yom Kippur), to celebrating
God's deliverance of His people (Passover; the exact time
paralleling Jesus' resurrection), to giving honor to Pentecost
(the giving of God's Torah/Truth; which also was when the
Acts 2 outpouring of the Spirit happened).

"Now when Solomon had finished praying, fire came down
from heaven and consumed the burnt offering and the
sacrifices, and the glory of the LORD filled the house.
The priests could not enter into the house of the LORD
because the glory of the LORD filled the LORD'S house."
2 Chron 7:1-3

Some of these community-wide gatherings involve fasting,
but each result in rejoicing, prayer and celebrating the Lord,
which includes spiritually festive times of eating together.

"So you will sing as on the night you celebrate a holy festival;
your hearts will rejoice as when people go to the mountain
of the Lord. The Lord will cause men to hear his majestic
voice and will make them see his anger and consuming fire,
with cloudburst, thunderstorm and hail. The voice of the Lord
will shatter His enemies; with his scepter he will strike
them down." Isa 30:29-31

The Dynamics

When revival is in evidence its prime dynamics will include
the broad community-response of believers; the priority
given to God and His presence; and of hearing from Him;
all of which engenders radical obedience to God's
standard and heart.

Community-Response

Revival fires that are unleashed at the community-level,
will have an impact that affects the broader community:
a broad cross-section of churched and unchurched alike. It
brings an insatiable hunger for God as people reach out for the
reality of God operating in their midst.

It operates beyond denominational and doctrinal boundaries,
while adhering to central biblical common ground shared
by all. As our pastor from the early 70s told us: "In our faith
are some things, for which, we should be willing to die.
Those are the areas the Body needs to agree on."
Revival flows in those areas.

God's Presence and Priority
Times of revival are marked by the consciousness of
God's presence and powerful answers to prayer. With
a keen focus on prayer, worship and seeking God, there
is a reverence and centrality to giving the priority necessary
to take that "next step" with God.

It provokes a trust and spontaneity of gathering with those
of a kindred spirit to seek Him, in waiting on Him with
prayer gatherings that tap and unveil the specifics of
His priorities and will.

Hearing God

Revival pivots on the consciousness of
His presence which results in hearing from God. It
involves a humility and trust that is willing to be personally
vulnerable in order stay in the prophetic flow of the Spirit.
Operating in the flow of His Spirit and His will, results
in the tendency toward remarkable answers to prayer.

Hearing God is always in conformance with the standard
of His Truth. Those truly tapping God's guidance are like the
Bereans in Acts 17, daily searching the Scripture to verify
and grasp all that the Spirit is imparting.

Radical Obedience

Hearing God and obeying is not in any
way passive. It realigns and it changes things. It changes
things on both an individual and a community-level. It becomes
the basis of what is referred to as societal transformation.

It can be said that spiritual maturity kicks in when the prime
focus shifts from issues of self to engaging one's calling in
serving community and Kingdom issues. Radical obedience
accelerates this process. It generates a more global,
proactive perspective that is interactive among those
sharing in this flow of the Spirit.

Most Distinguishing Characteristic

True revival is marked by the atmosphere of God's presence.
It is an atmosphere of His presence that doesn't fade when
the gathering is over. It abides. It represents a spark, an
igniter of the Spirit which those embracing it carry with them.

What we perceive when "God is moving" is first our
heightened God-consciousness, together with a God-response
to our spiritual hunger and purity of our reach for Him.

When the atmosphere of God's presence prevails, the
dynamic fuels an explosive multiplication. This is the
increase that results as the combination of the anointings
and the diversity of the gifts of those in community,
responding to revival begin operating together in unity.

Those who have experienced revival, the atmosphere of
His presence, yearn for the unfathomable consciousness
of His presence. It is insatiable. It has a depth that knows
no bounds. It sparks at the dividing asunder between soul
and spirit. It is contagious for those who truly seek Truth.
His presence indeed changes everything.

Revival's Catalysts

There are subtle, but distinct differences between the
catalysts that ignite revival; and the nurturing or maintaining
of revival; and of spiritual maturing.

Sound doctrine helps us mature spiritually as we
progressively grasp the glimmers of His Truth. Yet Jesus
referred to the Holy Spirit as the Spirit of Truth, Who
leads us into all Truth. Holy Spirit revival fires guide us
into Truth. Revival is that process of release that provokes
the manifestation of the reality of God.

There are some who are carriers of revival. This is a key
function of how the anointing operates

Carriers of revival are catalysts, igniters of God's presence.
When one spends time in God's presence, they begin to
operate as a carrier of His presence. We make reference
to "flowing" in His Spirit. The anointing is given release,
from the priority given to time spent with God.

When it matures with a pure heart, the overflow of the
anointing operates in concert with the leadership anointing,
each within their own sphere (2 Cor 10:13). It is the
foundation for influence. It has become the basis of many
successful ministries. It similarly represents the authority
of the intercessor to be a shield for those for whom they
stand in the gap.

Moses was a carrier for God's presence. He was a
gatekeeper for God's glory among the people. It was a
dynamic that began with the time Moses spent in God's
presence together with the fervency he had in reaching
for the conscious abiding of God's presence.

"'I pray You, if I have found favor in Your sight, let me
know Your ways that I may know You, so that I may find
favor in Your sight. Consider too, that this nation is Your
people.' The Lord said, 'My presence shall go with you,
and I will give you rest.' Moses then said to Him, 'If
Your presence does not go with us, do not lead us
up from here. For how can it be known that I have
found favor in Your sight, I and Your people? Is it not
by Your going with us, so that we, I and Your people,
may be distinguished from all the other people of the
earth?' Then Moses said, 'I pray You show me your glory.'"
Ex 33:13-19

Many years ago, during a time of ministry, a man of
God prefaced his ministry to us with these words:
"I sit in the presence of the Lord. There are many things
I could say to you; but what I bring you, I bring from the
presence of the Lord." That orientation is one of my
chief prayers for what I scribe with my writings and
what I impart with my God's economy program.

I have no desire to operate outside that context. I
yearn for and seek the anointing that breaks the
yoke. In this quest, for over two decades, I have
embraced a lifestyle of arising in the middle of the
night to pray and seek God. It is a part of the cost.

The Kingdom of God is the culture through which
God's people operate. Revival and the restoration
of God's order are at the heart of the Kingdom. God
is a consuming fire. His presence is a catalyst, a fire
that ignites change in its wake. When manifesting,
this conscious, flowing presence of the Lord, through
His people, yields the authority to reset governments
and economies and the cultures of the peoples
of the world.

At the core of this abiding presence operating through
His people, is what Paul referred to as the law of Christ:
bearing one another's burdens. Scripture tells us that
Jesus took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows.
He was bruised for our iniquities and by His stripes we
were healed. It is the standard for those willing to endure
the cost. It is the banner for those who have been
prepared for this season.

It is a mantle of fire traversing a pathway of fire, with a
responsibility and authority that wields God's glory to
restore His order. It is a mantle that carries a cost for
those paying the cost in paving its pathway.

"The wilderness and wasteland shall be glad. The desert
shall rejoice and bloom. You shall see the glory of the
Lord, the excellency of our God. So strengthen the weak
hands, make firm the feeble knees. Say to those who
are feeble-hearted: 'Be strong, do not fear.' Then the
eyes of the blind shall be opened and the ears of the
death unstopped.

The lame shall leap like a dear and
the tongue of the dumb sing. Waters shall burst forth
in the wilderness and springs in the desert. The parched
ground shall become a pool and a highway shall be
there and a road. It shall be called the highway of
holiness. The unclean will not pass over it, for it shall
be for the redeemed; and whoever walks this road
will not go astray." Isaiah 35:1-8
