Cindy Jacobs: Retirees, Listen! The Lord Says, 'This Is a Higher Season'

CINDY JACOBS  CHARISMA NEWS
Hello! As I have been seeking the Lord for a word to encourage your heart, this is what I received: this is a higher season. There is such an anointing on those words: "a higher season."
Many people reach a place in their lives where they get stagnant. But the Lord would say to you, "I don't wish you to be stagnant. I want you to be ever advancing My kingdom. I want you to be ever advancing in your destiny. Some of My children reach a place of spiritual stagnation—you are not growing personally; you're not growing in your destiny; you're not moving toward a destiny. And you just say, 'Well, that's all there is."
The Lord is really speaking this to me very strongly, even for retirees. The Lord has given you a time of positioning to a new level. You are not to be stagnant, saying, "I'm going to retire and just do anything I want." Now I know that may not seem like good news to some of you. But the Lord says, "I want you to be productive. I have made you to be productive. And if you're not productive, you're gonna go down."
The Lord also shows me that this is even a higher season for little children. In past generations, not much was spiritually expected of children because they were just little kids. But the Lord says, "No, this is a higher season for children. It's a season of dreams and visions."

The Lord shows me that there is an acceleration, like a rocket booster. If you will allow the Holy Spirit to come, God wants to accelerate you to a new thing; there'll be a divine acceleration underneath you to cause you to go to this higher season.
Father, I thank You in the name of Jesus that we're not going to go backwards in our lives; we're not going to reach a point of stagnation where we don't advance because God has called us to advance. I pray for those who are in that place, even feeling discontent and saying, "But, Lord, if You would just show me what to do, I would do something."
The Lord says, "If you will take one step, if you'll volunteer, or take one step, and just do something in your life, I'm going to give you two steps and three steps and four steps."
I know some of you would say, "Well, that's not where I've been. That's not the height of the position where I've been or what I can do." But the Lord says, "This is a season where I would cause My people to volunteer in the day of power. If some of you will do that, look around. I'm going to take you to a higher season. When I come, I will say, 'Did you reach the higher season, or were you just content with a good life or the acceptable life, but not the perfect life in Me?' So reach out, because I want to give you the perfect life and a new season, a higher season."
God bless you.

He Speaks In Many Ways - Now Think On This by Steve Martin

He Speaks In Many Ways

Now Think On This
Steve Martin

“Give ear and hear my voice, listen and hear my speech.” (Isaiah 28:23, NKJV)

The Lord didn’t stop creating after the first seven days of creation. In fact, He likes being creative in how He speaks with us. He chooses to do that in many ways.

Each one of us hears differently. Each one receives from others in ways that may not be the same to the others.

There was a book written several years ago describing how each person receives love by unique methods, unlike what another may prefer. That is because we are all specially created. Each one of us has been put together and gifted with special receptions through our senses. Because of His amazing mind, and His continuing loving thoughts toward us, they come our way as such.

I can say that is how the Lord ministers to us as individuals, in His speaking to us. One of His delights in His relationship with us, as an individual, is through Him using creative ways. And each one of us will hear and respond accordingly.

Ever hear the story of the spider web in the corner of the red barn? (Having been raised in the center of America in the Midwest, in Iowa no less, I did!) When three different people looked at the insect hanging high above in the rafters, one person said immediately, “Kill the spider.” Another grabbed a camera and took different shots from different angles, noting the symmetry and beauty of the spun web. And yet another said to leave it alone, for it was catching bugs that we don’t want around anyway.

Each one perceived and responded differently to what they saw, because each of us have unique qualities about and within us. The Lord, the One who created these in us, has even chosen to share His thoughts to us in ways that we can relate to, based on our makeup.

For me, I like numbers. I guess I always have, even when I would go buy a candy bar as a little kid and base the choice purchase on the weight of the bar, getting more for the money, rather than if I really liked one better than another. I know, I know. But that’s the way I have been created.

Because of this numbers thing, here is a true story that occurred the day I retired from my Accountant’s job (surprised?!) on October 31, 2017. It reveals how the Lord loves to speak to me in a way that I fully comprehend.

As I drove that early Tuesday morning (6:00 am) north on I77 interstate in North Carolina, from my
home in Pineville to my job in center city Charlotte, I knew that my odometer would hit “8888” on the way. That in itself meant something to me. Here the Lord was going to have my car, a Hyundai Elantra, turn the mileage reading over to that specific number on my last day before my retirement. (I turn 63 on Thanksgiving Day, November 23, 2017.)

Knowing that the number “8” in the Judeo-Christian Bible represents “new beginnings”, I was so looking forward to this day, this month, this year in my life’s journey. He knows that numbers are a big thing in my life - clocks, spreadsheets, calendars – you get the point. And that is how He was speaking to me.

What made this extra special was the fact that at Exit 8, Remount Road to be exact on the interstate, was the one I came up to when the odometer turned over to “8888.” Now isn’t that something! I can’t make this stuff up!

The fact that my Lord Jesus Christ, Yeshua HaMashiach, chose to speak to me in this way was even more extra special. With four eights, “8888”, in front of my eyes on the dashboard when the odometer turned over at Exit 8, now there were “5” eights. This said to me that this day marked a new season of my life, and that the five eights represented the extra grace (5 means grace) that would start me off in this new beginning. And not only to begin afreash, but complete, the full purpose and calling on my life.

I give thanks that the Lord speaks to us. I rejoice that each of us can hear, see and feel His presence in the way that we can best relate to Him.

The Lord God Almighty, Creator of the Universe, choses to show Himself to us, individually and also collectively (see those signs in the heavens lately???) in ways that we can know for certain that He is living, He is active, and He wants us to know Him personally, being the Father that He is.

Need a word from the Lord? Ask Him even now. And be prepared to receive His unique way of speaking to your heart, your spirit, even your body, in a way that you can know for certain of His love for you. Trust me, He will.

Shalom and ahava (peace and love in Hebrew).

Listen to Episode 3 of the Cup of Salvation Bible Podcast - Day to Praise with David Nekrutman

Day to Praise
Dear All,
Israel is celebrating the 50th anniversary of Jerusalem Day, where Psalms 113-118 (known as the Hallel psalms) are recited to thank the G-d of Abraham, Isaac ad Jacob for the miracle of Jerusalem under Jewish sovereignty in our lifetime. Psalm 113 begins with both praising and blessing G-d. In the 3rd installment of Cup of Salvation, Rabbi Pesach Wolicki and David Nekrutman uncover the deeper meaning between these two concepts We like to thank Jewishcoffeehouse.com for producing Cup of Salvation podcast which is also available on iTunes, Stitcher, aCast and other leading podcast platforms and apps.
Blessings!

This Fruit of the Spirit Equips You to Shine in a Mean-Spirited World - ADAM WITTENBERG CHARISMA NEWS

Start by doing this one thing to follow God's word in our social media and texting culture of quickly expressing our opinions. (Guillaume Bolduc)

This Fruit of the Spirit Equips You to Shine in a Mean-Spirited World

ADAM WITTENBERG  CHARISMA NEWS
Listening is tough. So is holding our tongue. Maybe that's why the Bible instructs us to do both.
The writer of James tells us, "But everyone must be quick to hear, slow to speak and slow to anger" (James 1:19, NASB).
It may seem simple. As Christians, we are to listen readily, hold our words closely and not get angry fast. But this is often easier said than done.
In our social media and texting culture, where people express their thoughts (and anger) quickly, how do we follow God's Word? Can we learn to control ourselves—and our words—and really listen to each other?
Scripture offers much advice on this (see the book of Proverbs). The Holy Spirit also helps in our weakness (Rom. 8:26).
Perhaps the best place to start is by agreeing with God's Word. We must include ourselves in the "everyone" of James 1:19. It doesn't matter what your personality is or what other people do, the Lord says "everyone" for a reason.
The truth is, we all need grace to walk this out—and our God is more than willing to help in our weakness (2 Cor. 12:9).
The Bible urges us to watch our words (Prov. 29:11) and to tame our tongues (James 3:2–12). This applies both to our spoken words and our words on social media. God's Word is especially relevant today when people express their thoughts freely online, where tempers flare quickly.
Instead of jumping to conclusions, getting angry or airing all of our thoughts and arguments in public, as Christians, we are held to a higher standard. The Lord will judge us—and the world—by our words. "But I say to you that for every idle word that men speak, they will give an account on the Day of Judgment," Jesus says in Matt. 12:36).
But the good news is, "if any man does not err in word, he is a perfect man and able also to control the whole body" (James 3:2–4), because the tongue is a very small rudder that turns a large ship.
There is great reward in watching our words. As we learn to really listen—to God and to others—and not let ourselves be easily angered, we become people of peace (Matt. 5:9). And while we may utter careless words at times, we can repent and ask God and others for forgiveness. We'll still feel angry at times—Jesus certainly did—and yet, the Bible tells us "be angry but do not sin" (Eph. 4:26). This can mean restraining our desire to lash out and refusing to vent all our frustration, in person or online.
The Christian walk isn't easy. Jesus said anyone wanting to follow Him would have to "count the cost," "deny themselves" and "take up his cross" (Luke 14:28 and 9:23), but the Holy Spirit is our promised helper (John 14:16). The Lord wants His people to resemble Him—"meek and lowly in heart" (Matt. 11:29), not crying out in the streets or quarreling (Matt. 12:19) but quick to forgive (Luke 23:34).
The desire to listen and watch our words is a great way to do this.
You may want to pray a daily prayer like this:
"Father, I want to be like Jesus: quick to hear, slow to speak and slow to anger. Please help me do this in every area of my life—at school, work, home, with friends and online. Wherever I go and whatever I say, give me Your words and peace. Help me, Holy Spirit, to tame my tongue. In Jesus' name, Amen."
Blessings to you as you walk toward the Lord, "who is able to do exceedingly abundantly beyond all that we ask or imagine" (Eph. 3:20).
Question: What is one way you can start watching your words? Tell us on Facebook.

Listen to This if You're Feeling Lonely and Depressed - BARRETT JOHNSON CHARISMA MAGAZINE

Here's someone who understands besides Jesus.
Here's someone who understands besides Jesus. (Charisma archives)

Spirit-Led Woman
Serving in Family Ministry while still being in the throes of raising our own family can be challenging. How much detail do we share about our own lives? How can we coach others when we have very real (and common) struggles in our home? How do any of us live up to the happy and perfect lives we tend to share with others on social media?
It's hard. Every day. But God is always faithful in the midst of our struggle. He promises to walk through it all with us.
To illustrate this point, I stole the following from Jenifer's Facebook this morning. She shares her heart and then shares a powerfully moving podcast from Sally Clarkson. You should totally check it out
Jenifer's Post
I don't know what I would have done without Sally Clarkson in my life.
If you are a mama buy and READ every one of her books. She blazed the trail in the "keeping it real" department.
That's the number one comment Barrett and I get over and over again: "You are so real!" I will never be a slick, got it all together, perfect communicator/speaker. But I can be REAL. I can be TRUE to my God who has never left me.
Here was scripture in my devotion time today:
Here is a trustworthy saying:
"If we died with him,
We will also live with him.
If we endure,
We will also reign with him.
If we disown him,
He will also disown us;
If we are faithless,
He will remain faithful,
For he cannot disown himself."
-2 Timothy 2 11-13 (NIV)
Thank you Jesus for using very clumsy but real me.
Because I grow weary. The little girl I'm raising wears me out. She's not my genetic code. She is "fearfully and wonderfully made" and is going to be a strong woman of God. (I imagine she will be a wife and a mother of many. She is such a nurturing soul.) But parenting her is the hardest thing I've EVER done. I get questioned about my parenting of her even though I managed to raise 4 almost all grown, healthy, educated, God-fearing adults.
Adoption is different. There are many issues I've never dealt with before. Yesterday instead of being upset with her and trying to guide her the right way, I just wept and wept and wept. I couldn't find the words to tell her that she was making bad decisions. I'm so weary.
PLEASE LISTEN to this podcast by Sally Clarkson. I cried this morning thinking of how awesome it would have been to hear Sally's voice on podcasts back when I was raising my first four kids. Instead I "listened to her voice" as I daily read a devotion book she wrote for homeschool moms many years ago.
Listen if you are lonely. (She explains perfectly how it feels to be lonely in leadership.)
Listen if your kid says "mom you always taught us we would be aliens, I just never thought we would feel that way in our church." (But please don't ask my kids which has one said this. It was when they were younger.)
Listen if you feel like nobody gets you.
Listen if you struggle with one or more of your kids.
Listen to be edified and lifted up by my FAVORITE "Titus 2 woman."

Discerning the Voice of the Lord by Elaine Tavolacci

Discerning the Voice of the Lord

by Elaine Tavolacci

Identity Network

There was a time when the voice of the Lord was rare and there was no widespread revelation. (1 Samuel chapter 3:1) As a young boy Samuel ministered before the Lord alongside of the High priest Eli wearing a linen ephod. The Lord called out to Samuel one day during the night three times but Samuel didn't recognize God's voice until Eli perceived that it was the Lord calling him.

Samuel then went back, and the Lord called out to him a fourth time. Samuel replied; "Speak, for Your servant hears." He then heard God's voice for the first time. Samuel grew up as a great prophet and none of his words fell to the ground.

The Holy Spirit is speaking to every believer today. In the New Covenant that Jesus made with us, we don't have to be in the five-fold ministry or be a prophet to hear His voice. How much more should we be able to hear His voice then the prophets of old, having the Holy Spirit living inside of us? Your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit and He is speaking to you, but some of you are recognizing His voice.

The Lord says, listen for My voice. I speak to you in various ways. I speak in dreams, I speak in visions, I speak in nature, I speak through your circumstances, I even speak to you in your trials. As you go to sleep at night with expectation, you will be more receptive to hear from Me in your dreams. As you quiet your mind and posture yourself in an attitude of prayer, you will learn how to hear and become more sensitive to My voice when you pray. As you prepare yourself by conforming to My ways, renewing your mind and attending to My words you will become more attuned to My voice.

When you free your mind from the cares of this world you will begin to hear with more clarity. As you read My word and meditate upon it, you will begin to discern My plans for you. As you lift your voice to Me in praise and worship, you will begin to hear Me in the song, and you will begin to rise above your circumstances and rest in My presence.

Listen for My Voice

As you go about your day, listen for My voice in your traveling. I will speak to you on your jobs, and even as you are shopping. Seek Me with expectation throughout your day knowing that I will speak to you. Learn how to recognize My voice through other people. Learn to recognize My voice for solutions to your problems. Learn to recognize My voice in all the affairs of your life. I will give you the answers to the questions and concerns that you have. My voice releases authority. My voice brings direction.

My voice brings instruction. My voice brings transformation. My voice brings healing. My voice brings deliverance. Allow Me to remove anything that may be hindering you from hearing My voice. Stay sensitive to My voice of correction. As you continually submit and surrender totally to Me, you will be able to hear with more clarity. Know that it is My desire to speak to you as My bride in covenant with Me says the Lord.

John 14:17 The Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.

John 16:13 However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.

John 16:27 My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.

1 Corinthians 6:19 Do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?
