Prophetic Word: 'I Am About to Do a 7-Day Turnaround' - JOE JOE DAWSON CHARISMA MAGAZINE

Prophetic Word: 'I Am About to Do a 7-Day Turnaround'

Recently, the Lord spoke a word to my heart, so powerful and clear. I can only remember a handful of times in my life that I have even heard the Lord this plainly. I was about to walk into the prayer room at our church, I was several feet away from the prayer room door and I heard the Lord say, "Tell my people that I am about to do a seven-day turnaround". With huge excitement in my heart, I ran into the prayer room as the Lord continued speaking to me.
He immediately reminded me of the night before. The previous night, I did my final rounds at the house, made sure my wife and children were asleep and then I got into bed. I laid there for about one minute and the Lord spoke to me, "Get up, I would like to talk to you." So I got up, went into our prayer room at the house, and the Lord spoke this to me "Every word I have spoken to you in the private place will come to pass." Then I began to pray into that word. I felt deeply impressed to tell people to remember every prophetic word that bore witness with their spirit when it was given to them. Now is the time to look back at all of their old prayer journals.
Then the next day, I received the seven-day turnaround word. The Lord was prompting me to tell people that prophetic acceleration is coming, a seven-day turnaround, where God will suddenly fulfill the promises in the prophetic words that people have been hanging onto and praying into for many years. The Lord is getting His people ready for a mighty move of His Spirit. Get ready for your seven-day turnaround!
I was reminded of many of the prophetic words God has spoken to me. The first one I remembered was when God told me about the key to breakthrough is fasting. So many of God's people do not understand the true power that is released while fasting. Immediately, I thought, What if people fasted and prayed over the next seven days for their turnaround?
Then I was reminded about a prophetic vision I had just recently. In the vision, I saw a huge tidal wave crashing over the people of God. As I saw this tidal wave in the Spirit, I knew that it was made up all of the prayers, promises and prophetic words from past seasons. The Lord spoke clearly to me that every promise and every prophetic word that has been given in past seasons, will come to pass in this next season. This seven-day turnaround is the fulfillment of that vision. Expect to be overtaken by the Spirit of God fulfilling His promises to you. Your 7-day turnaround is coming.
As I continue to pray I felt the Lord say, "Do not allow your circumstances, conditions or situations to affect your spirit. Stay focused on what My Spirit is saying and deny every soulish or fleshly thought." Be vigilant during these next seven days, pay no attention to your critics because any attack the devil can scheme up, He will throw your way. This is a season that you will have to be strong and prepared for warfare. Remember Ephesians 6:11, "Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil." These next seven days, you will have to stand against the enemy's schemes, tricks, strategies and attempts to get you off course.
The Lord told me to declare that "The cave, wilderness and valley seasons are coming to an end." So many people are so close to giving up on their God-given dream, purpose, calling and destiny. Many people are so close to having their God-given breakthrough at any moment. Then the Lord spoke to me and said, "Many of My children are barely hanging on. Many are barely hanging on for their ministry, business, marriage and prodigal sons and daughters." Because of the delay in their breakthrough, many people's emotions are out of alignment, and their finances are not prioritized correctly.
The presence of the Spirit of God remained strong during this encounter. The Spirit prompted me to urge people to properly align with all the prophetic words and promises that God has spoken to them. The Lord prompted me to tell people in this season do not give in to the soulish realm or to your thoughts and emotions. Instead, stay focused on the Spirit of God and be completely Spirit-led during the next seven days. Stay strong and stay the course with the Lord. Contend, fast and pray over the next seven days. Let faith arise and believe God for the seven-day turnaround!

Nathan Shaw: "2017 is a Strategic Year on God's Prophetic Time Clock" - The Elijah List

Nathan Shaw: "2017 is a Strategic Year on God's Prophetic Time Clock"

The Elijah List Nov 25, 2016

Steve ShultzFrom the desk of Steve Shultz:
The words for 2017 are starting to pour in...it will really be a time of great, great things in the Kingdom of God.
Now, that doesn't mean it will be easy per say...as we are also in turbulent times AND that's when the glory of God shows up in our midst.
Nathan Shaw shares a most excellent word for this upcoming year...here's just a teaser:
God has a prophetic time clock for the nations. He is a forward thinking God. He establishes the time frames for the future and then strategizes to bring His purposes to fruition. If you think of a chess board, not only is God moving His pieces, He owns the chess board! The enemy cannot outstrategize God!
God has some great strategies for next year that WE get to be a part of!

2017 is a pivotal year in the timing of God. There will be significant and dramatic changes, but this will be a beginning, not an end. Transitions usually cause things to shake. These shakings should not faze us. Rather we need to understand the big picture. When Israel was delivered from Egypt three realities converged:
1.) God's prophetic time clock.
2.) A full measure of iniquity.
3.) A cry for freedom.
Israel's deliverance from Egypt and her conquering of the Promised Land were dependent on the convergence of these three realities. These same realities will converge in 2017.
God's Prophetic Time Clock
God has a prophetic time clock for the nations. He is a forward thinking God. He establishes the time frames for the future and then strategizes to bring His purposes to fruition. If you think of a chess board, not only is God moving His pieces, He owns the chess board! The enemy cannot outstrategize God! (Photo via Unsplash)
In Genesis 15, Abraham had a profound encounter with God. During this encounter Abraham was given a glimpse of God's prophetic time clock. Firstly, God informed Abraham that the Israelites would eventually become slaves in Egypt. But then He added a curious detail: In 400 years time God would deliver the Israelites from the Egyptians (Genesis 15:13-14, Exodus 12:40-41, Acts 7:6). Once delivered, they would inherit the Promised Land.
Abraham had the assurance that that which God had planned would indeed come to pass. During the 400 years in Egypt the Israelites multiplied greatly in number. This was part of God's strategic maneuvering. Israel became a sleeping giant that awoke from its sleep, unable to remain quiet any longer. 2017 is a strategic year on God's prophetic time clock.
ElijahList Prophetic Resources
The Full Measure of Iniquity
A second fascinating piece of information revealed to Abraham in his Genesis 15 encounter with God was this: The iniquity of the Amorites was not yet full. God does not judge indiscriminately. Despite the wickedness of the Amorites and the other inhabitants of Canaan, God would not judge them until their iniquity had reached a certain level (Genesis 15:16, Leviticus 18:24-25).
When Israel finally conquered the Promised Land, the iniquity of the occupants had reached its full measure. This principle also applied to God's judgment against the Egyptians. When iniquity reaches a certain level, God halts it.
2017 is a year during which many mountains of iniquity will be halted.
The Cry for Freedom
A third strategic element for God's purposes to be fulfilled was the cry for freedom that came from the Israelites themselves (Exodus 2:23-25, 3:7-9, Numbers 20:16, Deuteronomy 26:7). Israel was subjected to cruel oppression from the Egyptians. With desperate longing they cried out for freedom. Israel was confined in a prison of slavery.
As God's covenant people, they were destined for freedom not confinement. Many in the Church today are confined by slavery to condemnation, guilt, fear and poverty. The cry of these captives has been heard by God. There comes a time when God's people can no longer tolerate the small place of confinement in which they find themselves.
2017 is a year when the cry for freedom from God's people will become unstoppable.
Two Levels of Freedom
The deliverance from Egypt and the conquering of the Promised Land reveal two different levels of freedom. The first level involves freedom from slavery. The second level involves possessing our inheritance. Both levels involve intense desire for freedom. (Photo via Pixabay)
The deliverance from Egypt gave the Israelite's freedom from outward slavery. The journey through the wilderness was intended to give them freedom from inward slavery. The mindsets of slavery and poverty persisted even after they were delivered from Egypt. Only those who cry out for freedom from these mindsets are then able to conquer and possess their full inheritance. Two strategic questions to ask at this time are:
•Do I want to be free?
•How much do I want to be free?
2017 is a year when many will, "Come out of Egypt." There will be a dramatic increase of evangelism, healing and deliverance.
2017 is also a year when many will, "Enter the Promised Land" and begin to possess their inheritance. God's government of righteousness, peace and joy will be established in places where mountains of iniquity have dominated for many years. (To Subscribe to the Elijah List go here.)

Prophecy: I'm About to Ignite the Prophets - JENNIFER LECLAIRE CHARISMA NEWS

God is preparing to set prophetic voices on fire to reach the nations. (Flickr )

Prophecy: I'm About to Ignite the Prophets

JENNIFER LECLAIRE  CHARISMA NEWS  Nov. 2, 2016
Watchman on the Wall, by Jennifer LeClaireJennifer LeClaire is now sharing her reflections and revelations through Walking in the Spirit. Listen at charismapodcastnetwork.com.

I've been on a journey with the Lord this past year, wading through some disturbing issues in modern prophetic ministry. Although I see a lot of error and hype, I still believe wholeheartedly in the pure prophetic—and still see plenty of it. The Lord spoke these words to my heart in September, and I'm just now releasing them widely:
I'm about to ignite the prophets. Many have ignored the prophetic voices in this hour, but I'm about to set them on fire so the world can watch them burn with the message that's on My heart. Many have forsaken My prophetic voices in the season, but I'm about to raise them up in an undeniable way so that all can see that I have a voice, and I have a say, and I have a plan, and I have a purpose for My people and for this nation in the season.
So embrace My fire now as I pour it out upon you and understand that I am doing a new thing in the prophetic ministry. Some of the old ways are no longer working because they were seasonal. The new way will be fire, fire, fire. The new way will be intimacy with Me that demonstrates and manifests My love in the midst of the hard days.
I will give you hard words, but they will be laced with fire and they will burn through the opposition. Some will still oppose you, yes, but many will begin to hear because as they see and they sense what is happening in the world they will need verbiage and words to understand and describe what it is they are coming into.
The prophets and prophetic voices in the land will not only give heed to what I'm saying, but they will express it with clarity. They will sound the alarm. They will blow the trumpet. They will understand what is on My mind and what is on My heart because they have spent time in My counsel. I am bringing them out of the wilderness places even now, and I am setting them on a watch tower, and I am setting them in a military formation to go forth and lead an army of prophetic saints into the battlefield to overtake the wicked one in Jesus' name.
There is so much here to process, but I want to point out five things to consider.
JOIN JENNIFER ON FACEBOOK FOR SPIRITUAL COMMENTARY AND ENCOURAGEMENT. CLICK HERE.
1. He is about to set the prophets on fire. God is looking for John the Baptist prophets in this hour who will confront religious demons working to hold back the next great move of God. Jesus called John the Baptist a burning and shining lamp (John 5:35). The word burning in that verse comes from the Greek word kaio, which means "to set on fire, light, burning to burn, consume with fire."
Isaiah 40:3-5 described John the Baptist this way: "The voice of him who cries out, 'Prepare the way of the Lord in the wilderness, make straight in the desert a highway for our God. Let every valley be lifted up, and every mountain and hill be made low, and let the rough ground become a plain, and the rough places a plain; then the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together, for the mouth of the Lord has spoken it.'"
The fiery prophets will pave the way to the glory of God by confronting the demons that blind people's eyes and dull their ears. He called the religious Pharisees a brood of vipers! These forerunner prophets will cry out with messages of repentance in the last days that will turn hearts back to the fathers, according to Malachi 4:6. Ask the Lord to set you on fire so the world can watch you burn!
2. Embrace the new fire. He said new fire, not strange fire. There's a strange fire making its way through prophetic ministry. God wants prophetic people with new fire that comes from intimacy with Him to rise up and demonstrate pure prophecies, legitimate signs and wonders and authentic miracles. The Lord is not looking for one-hit wonders. He's looking for living signs that point the way to Jesus. The spirit of prophecy is the testimony of Jesus.
This also means embracing the refiner's fire and the making process. Proverbs 17:3 says, "The refining pot is for silver and the furnace for gold, but the Lord tries the hearts." Isaiah 49:10-11 says, "See, I have refined you, but not with silver; I have chosen you in the furnace of affliction. For My own sake, even for My own sake, I will do it; for how can My name be polluted? And I will not give My glory to another."

3. The Lord is bringing a clear sound in the true prophetic. There are so many conflicting prophetic voices. Some of them really aren't conflicting. They are just prophesying their part. We must discern the spirits behind the prophecies. Clarity is one of the tests.
First Corinthians 14:7-9 says, "Even when things without life give sound, whether flute or harp, how will it be known what is played unless they give a distinction in the sounds? If the trumpet makes an uncertain sound, who will prepare himself for the battle? So also you, unless with the tongue you speak words easy to understand, how will it be known what is spoken? For you shall speak into the air."
We don't need ambiguous prophecies no one can understand in this hour. We don't need prophets to speak in parables in this hour. We need a clear sound so we can prepare our hearts and war with the prophecies offered. We need accountability in the prophetic. It's time to set the trumpet to your mouth and blow it with clarity and confidence.
4. We need to stand in His counsel. The new breed of accurate prophets and prophetic people will cultivate intimacy with God and stand in His counsel. Intimacy is one of the markers that is going to distinguish the new breed of prophets. Jeremiah's words are still prophetic for today.
We are coming into a season where we will see "people fainting from fear and expectation of the [dreadful] things coming on the world" (Luke 21:26, AMP). We're seeing a foretaste of this even now. We must invest time to cultivate the oil of intimacy so we can oil our shields as we enter escalating end-times warfare amid a Great Falling Away that will see many deceived.
5. God is going to bring unknown voices out of the wilderness and into formation. Prophets who have been hidden in the wilderness will emerge with fresh oil on their shields and fresh revelation in their hearts to declare the uncompromising word of the Lord by faith. Watchman ministry will receive newfound respect in the coming hour as Christians find themselves blindsided by world events. Watchmen and spiritual warriors will connect in new ways, working together in unity to push back the darkness trying to stop the manifestation of the glorious church.

Lessons You Can Learn While in the Wilderness - KATHERINE RUONALA CHARISMA MAGAZINE

Your time in the wilderness can give you a powerful testimony.

Time. That space between planting and harvesting, between promise and fulfillment. Living in a world where we are widely accustomed to instant gratification, the concept of having to wait can be frustrating. Yet if we understand the purpose and potential of these times, we can learn to cooperate with God and enjoy the journey.
Many live with a sense of destiny and promise but struggle to see how it can be fulfilled in the light of their present circumstances. That can be a frustrating situation, especially when they see how God is already moving in the lives of others. It invites all sorts of questions: Why not me? I know God has called me to greater things, so why do I feel stuck where I am? What am I doing wrong? When will God fulfill the promises He gave me?
This is a very common experience, and it can be disorienting if we don't understand what God is doing or know how to respond to it. Some people call it a "wilderness" and for good reason. Like Joseph in Egypt, the Israelites on the their way to the Promised Land, David in exile, and many other figures in Scripture, we are in the midst of a process between calling and fulfillment. Through their experiences we are able to take hope in the truth that God will also bring us through whatever situation we may find ourselves in.
Jesus spent years waiting for God's timing in His life too. He didn't begin His ministry until He was about thirty (Luke 3:23) which means there were long years of waiting. He had a calling. He had a vision. And He had God's promises, but He was not yet walking in the fullness of what God called Him to do. He also had an actual wilderness experience in which He overcame temptation and was able to solidify the reality that God had spoken and could be trusted.
In the wilderness we have the same opportunity to have our trust in God's words tested and solidified until they become like iron in our soul. (See Psalm 105:18-19.)
The enemy came at Jesus in the wilderness with all sorts of temptations and distractions, doing everything he could to steer Him away from His purpose, distort His thinking, or question His identity. But when Jesus came out of the wilderness, He began ministering with power the world had never seen before.
A lot of Christian leaders and teachers are doing a great job equipping God's people for their calling, showing the way to walk in God's power, and casting vision. Not many talk about the process between promise and fulfillment or calling and destiny, so the wilderness can come as a shock to those who are unprepared.
I believe there is a great need in our time to understand the processes of God, the baptism of fire, and the joy and power of surrender. My personal journey included years of frustration and wondering what God was doing, but I learned to lean on Him in those times and came out with a relationship that could not be shaken. Whenever I teach on this, it seems to resonate with many people. Some remark on how rare it is to hear from speakers about their years of preparation and their behind the scenes stories of trials God has brought them through. Many are encouraged to know the process from wilderness to wonders.
I believe you can embrace your journey with fresh hope and perspective, and that not only will you survive the seasons between promise and fulfillment, but thrive in them. In fact, with the right kind of response, your wilderness season can become a time of accelerated growth and fruitfulness.
I hope that encourages you. Wilderness seasons are a great opportunity to lean on your Beloved and learn the deep things of His Spirit. You learn to anchor yourself in the One who gives you lasting joy. You learn to carry the peace of God in every situation because the Prince of Peace is within you. You learn not to let the wilderness or the enemy shape your identity because you find your identity entirely in Him.
In the wilderness we learn to dream God's dreams. We discover God as our source in every situation. We learn how to respond to temptation, injustice and pain. We not only endure obstacles and storms, we become victorious in them and rise above them. In the wilderness we learn to recognize divine invitation and wage war with the promises God has given to us. Regardless of what we are going through, in the wilderness we learn to find our delight in God alone.
God wants to be the glory and the lifter of your head in every situation (Ps. 3:3, KJV). No matter how difficult your circumstances may seem, He wants you to look up and see His glorious face. He wants to tell you how lovely, free, clean, and redeemed you are. God wants you to know you are the beloved apple of His eye and that He has created you to shine.
Wilderness-wondersThe wilderness cannot prevent you from shining. Jesus shone in His wilderness season and you can too. Jesus' wilderness experience became one of His greatest victories. That can be your testimony too. You are destined to shine just as He does and to walk in His power, doing even greater works than He did. And even if you are in the midst of a wilderness, that can begin right now.
Adapted from Wilderness to WondersEmbracing the Power of Process by Katherine Ruonala, copyright 2015, published by Charisma House. This book examines the journey we take through wilderness seasons of test and trials, and emphasizes the importance of enduring the process.  You'll be encouraged to stand in faith for all God promised you when you see how God is for you, believes in you, and is making all things work for your good. "December: a Time of Surprises and the Release of New Gifts" and "Love, Hope and Joy Being Released" - Doug Addison, THE ELIJAH LIST

Get ready to cross over into a new time in which things will not go the way they did in the past.
December is going to be a time of surprises and the release of new gifts and revelation. It is going to look strange at times as we are in the midst of a major transition.
Unexpected blessings and deeper insight and revelation are coming. This is a time to pull back and not get too busy. Take time to listen and write down what God is speaking right now. Expect to hear God's voice and to have prophetic dreams between Christmas and the New Year.
The first part of 2016 will start to ramp up and sudden turnarounds will begin to increase.
Expect sudden acceleration and advancement.
Last New Year's Eve
On December 31, 2014 I had a very powerful spiritual encounter. I literally heard audible cries of people who have been wounded by uncaring Christians and leaders. The Lord told me, "Their cries have reached My ears and I must respond."
After this, I began getting more revelation about the new move from God that is going to be for the outcasts and those who have been rejected by Christianity. This is going to start in 2016 with many people who are wounded warriors.
This new order of things is going to look and feel unusual and stretch your understanding of what is possible.
"But with God all things are possible." Matthew 19:26b NIV
The Children of Promise
The spiritual atmosphere is full of expectation right now. Things are pregnant and ready for the birth of something new. But there is a moment of silence just before it happens.
You will need to pause from busyness to capture all that is happening as sometimes it might not be all that dramatic.
God is preparing the ones who have been in a season of obscurity to begin to come forward in 2016.
For many people this has been a painful time of rejection and feeling that they missed God. These wounded warriors are similar to the "children of God" mentioned in Romans 8.
"I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us. For the creation waits in eager expectation for the children of God to be revealed." Romans 8:18–19
Many people who are going to be part of this next movement have been rejected and wounded and have been in a seven-year wilderness season since 2008. But God has hidden them for this very time to come forward. As this is happening, the earth itself is experiencing birth pains and turmoil.
"We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time." Romans 8:22

Look Back 9 Months Ago
Quite often God will speak to us or release something and it takes time to germinate and form. It is similar to the way a baby comes 9 months after conception. In March 2015, nine months ago, spiritual invitations went out and the wounded warriors and hidden ones began to awaken.
Look back to what started to happen last March but may not have fully taken shape yet in your life. A major verdict happened over the spiritual lives of those who have been hidden and are being called to be part of this next move of God.
Next 9 Months
The next nine months, between December 2015 and September 2016, will be a strategic time of birthing the destiny of many who are called to the next level. Like childbirth, it is often painful and messy and you will be stretched in your understanding of what is possible.
The enemy will try to bring accusations and jealousy against those who are coming forward. You will be able to recognize those who are being promoted by their humility, love and honor.
It will be important for us all to keep in mind that as we cross into this new season we will need to, "Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past"(Isaiah 43:18).
A Prophetic Sign
I got these prophetic words last week and God spoke to me that as a sign of this new movement coming, a baby girl was born to Facebook CEO and billionaires Mark Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan. On the week of Thanksgiving, their daughter Max Chan Zuckerberg was born.
The Zuckerbergs created a fund and pledged to give 99% of its $45 billion to charity to help find cures for diseases and to promote human equality. The Facebook CEO included a letter to his daughter in Tuesday's post. He wrote:
"Max, we love you and feel a great responsibility to leave the world a better place for you and all children. We wish you a life filled with the same love, hope and joy you give us. We can't wait to see what you bring to this world." (Read the full story here.)
The meaning of the name Max is the "greatest." We are about to see one of the greatest moves of God that will bring love, hope and joy to the world.
God moved on the Zuckerbergs to give their wealth to charity and it will indeed help starving people and fund the discovery of cures for diseases. God is moving to release finances into the world and into the Kingdom of God.
This is a time to have love, hope and joy!
Blessings,

3 Reasons You Might Be in the Wilderness Right Now - JENNIFER LECLAIRE

Wilderness seasons

We all walk through peaks and valleys—and we all have our wilderness experiences. But there’s a big difference between being a voice crying in the wilderness in obedience to God and finding yourself stuck in the wilderness, going around the same mountain over and over (and over).
I’ve experienced both realities, and I can tell you the former is liberating because you know you are smack-dab in the center of God’s will. The latter is frustrating because you know you’re absolutely missing it somewhere.
Of course, if you don’t have a revelation of why you are in the wilderness—if you are antsy for your big ministry debut, even though it’s not God’s timing—then you could be frustrated even in the will of God.
So, how do we interpret our wilderness experiences? With the help of the Word of God and the Spirit of God. I’m offering up a few possibilities here. There may be others. The important thing is not to play guessing games about the season you find yourself in. You need revelation and understanding that you can hang your faith on while you go through the wilderness so you don’t faint and give up.
1. Unbelief and Rebellion Will Leave You Wandering in the Wilderness
Sometimes you find yourself wandering in the wilderness year after year after year. It feels like you are going around the same mountain over and over (and over). That may be because you are. Remember, it was a three-day journey from the Red Sea to the Promised Land, but the Israelites wandered around in the wilderness, circling Mount Seir, for 40 years.
Why did it take so long? One reason was unbelief. The Father was prepared to take them into the Promised Land after two years, but 10 of the 12 spies Moses sent into the Promised Land brought back an evil report of unbelief (Num. 14). God waited until all the unbelieving men of war died, just like He said He would (Deut. 2:14).

Psalm 78:17 also notes that the Israelites rebelled against God in the wilderness. And Hebrews warns readers, “Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion, in the day of trial in the wilderness, where your fathers tested Me, tried Me, and saw My works forty years” (Heb. 3:8-9). If you have been in the wilderness for years, ask the Holy Spirit if there is unbelief or rebellion in your heart.
    2. God Is Waiting for His Perfect Time to Reveal You
John the Baptist seemingly spent much of his life in the wilderness. Luke records this about John: “So the child grew and became strong in spirit, and was in the deserts till the day of his manifestation to Israel” (Luke 1:80).
John was the one Isaiah prophesied about: “The voice of one crying in the wilderness: ‘Prepare the way of the Lord; make straight in the desert a highway for our God’” (Is. 40:3). We know John did just that, as Mark pulled out Isaiah’s words when introducing John, who “came baptizing in the wilderness and preaching a baptism of repentance for the remission of sins. Then all the land of Judea, and those from Jerusalem, went out to him and were all baptized by him in the Jordan River, confessing their sins” (Mark 1:4-5).
John’s public ministry lasted only months after the day of his manifestation to Israel. Herod murdered him, but not before he fulfilled his ministry as a forerunner of Christ. Now, John was not in the wilderness because of anything he was doing wrong. John’s manifestation to Israel was a matter of God’s timing.
Think about it: John was prepared in the wilderness. He received revelation in the wilderness. He learned humility and obedience in the wilderness. He built a strong relationship with God in the wilderness.
If you find yourself in the wilderness right now, take heart—it may be that God is preparing you for something marvelous. Take the time to get to know Him because that relationship will serve you well after your revealing.
    3. God Is Positioning You for Greater Power
The Holy Spirit Himself may drive you into the wilderness for a season. That’s what happened to Jesus. Matthew records, “Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil” (Matt. 4:1).
Satan offered Jesus three temptations that are common to man today. Jesus did not bite on the devil’s bait. He wielded the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God, to send the enemy packing. He resisted the devil’s temptation, and the devil fled. But look what happened next: “Then Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit to Galilee, and news of Him went out through all the surrounding region” (Luke 4:14).
Jesus was already baptized in the Holy Spirit, but he gained power through His wilderness experience. He went into the synagogue and essentially declared His public ministry. When He left there, the first thing He did was cast out a devil. The next thing was healing people, followed by preaching.
If you find yourself in a period of temptation, use the Word of God and the power of the Holy Spirit to resist the devil, and know that God wants to take you to a higher place.
David spent much of his life in the wilderness, either tending sheep or running from Saul. David did what other wise men have done during wilderness times: He got closer to God. When you land in the wilderness, check your heart and take joy in fellowshipping with God like David did in Psalm 63 when he was in the wilderness of Judah: “O God, You are my God; early will I seek You; my soul thirsts for You; my flesh longs for You in a dry and thirsty land where there is no water. So I have looked for You in the sanctuary, to see Your power and Your glory” (vv. 1-2). Amen.
