Today's Israel Inspiration

Today we gain beautiful insight into Abraham's generous ways. The "eshel" was a fruit tree that Abraham planted to serve fruits to his guests. Our Sages go even deeper and say that "eshel" is an acronym for three Hebrew words: eating (אכילה  a-khee-la), drinking (שתיה sh'tee-ya) and escorting (לויה levaya), the three types of hospitality that Abraham was famous for offering to his guests. Colel Chabad, Israel's oldest charitable organization, follows in the footsteps of Abraham by helping Israel's neediest citizens- widows and orphans, the sick and elderly, poor immigrants, and hospitalized children. Among many projects to help the poor, Colel Chabad now operates 18 free soup kitchens, serving up over 1 million meals annually. Many of the recipients are aged Holocaust survivors who come as much out of their need of a warm smile and simple human contact, as they do for the nutritious food.

23 Percent Of Americans In Their Prime Working Years Are Unemployed - Michael Synder THE ECONOMIC COLLAPSE BLOG

Unemployment - Public Domain

Posted: 27 Mar 2016  Michael Synder  THE ECONOMIC COLLAPSE BLOG

Did you know that when you take the number of working age Americans that are officially unemployed (8.2 million) and add that number to the number of working age Americans that are considered to be “not in the labor force” (94.3 million), that gives us a grand total of 102.5 million working age Americans that do not have a job right now?  I have written about this before, but today I want to focus just on Americans that are in their prime working years.  When you look at only Americans that are from age 25 to age 54, 23.2 percent of them are unemployed right now.  The following analysis and chart come from the Weekly Standard
Here’s a chart showing those in that age group currently employed (95.6 million) and those who aren’t (28.9 million):

Americans In Their Prime Working Years Not Working

“There are 124.5 million Americans in their prime working years (ages 25–54). Nearly one-quarter of this group—28.9 million people, or 23.2 percent of the total—is not currently employed. They either became so discouraged that they left the labor force entirely, or they are in the labor force but unemployed. This group of non-employed individuals is more than 3.5 million larger than before the recession began in 2007,” writes the Republican side of the Senate Budget Committee.
Clearly, we have never recovered from the impact of the last recession.

But let’s try to put these numbers in context.

Below, I would like to share two charts with you.  They show what has happened to the inactivity rates for men and for women in their prime working years in the United States in recent years.

In order to be considered “inactive”, you can’t have a job and you can’t be looking for a job.  So this subset of people is smaller than the group that we were talking about above.  The 23.2 percent of Americans in their prime working years that are unemployed right now includes those that are looking for a job and those that are not looking for a job.

These next two charts do not include anyone that has a job or that is currently looking for a job.  These charts only cover “inactive” people in their prime working years that are not considered to be in the labor force.

As you can see in this first chart, the inactivity rate for men in their prime working years exploded higher during the last recession and then continued to go up even after the recession supposedly ended.  At this point, it is hovering near all-time record highs.  Does this look like an “economic recovery” to you?…

Inactivity Rate Men

For women, we see a similar thing.  In this next chart, you can see that the inactivity rate for women in their prime working years rose during the last recession and then just kept on rising.  At this point, it is also hovering near all-time record highs…

Inactivity Rate Women

What are we to make of all this?

For both men and women in their prime working years, the inactivity rate is even higher than it was during the last recession and is hovering near the all-time record.

All of these people neither have a job nor are they looking for one.

So what in the world is going on here?

Are they independently wealthy?

Have these people found rich spouses to marry so they don’t have to work?

No, the truth is that the middle class in America is steadily eroding and poverty is absolutely exploding.  Credit card debt has soared to a new record high, and 48 percent of all U.S. adults under the age of 30 believe that “the American Dream is dead”.

The issue isn’t that people don’t want to work.

The issue is that people cannot find enough work.

And even if you have a job, that does not mean that you are on easy street.  According to the Social Security Administration, 51 percent of all American workers make less than $30,000 a year.

Tens of millions of Americans are now among the ranks of “the working poor”.  So many families are watching their expenses soar while their paychecks go down or stagnate.  If you are in this situation right now, then you probably know how exceedingly stressful it can be.
Just look at what is happening to the cost of health insurance.  The following comes from Fox News
Health insurance premiums have increased faster than wages and inflation in recent years, rising an average of 28 percent from 2009 to 2014 despite the enactment of Obamacare, according to a report from Freedom Partners.
And I am not exactly sure where they got those numbers.  Personally, I know that my health insurance rates have gone up far faster than that.

Two years ago, my health insurance company wanted to double the health insurance premiums for my family even though we never get sick.  So I switched to another insurance company that offered a policy that was only about 30 percent higher than my last one.  But then when it came time to renew, that insurance company wanted to raise my rate by another 50 percent.

Thanks to Obamacare, American families are being absolutely crippled by the cost of health care.  And of course we are seeing the rising cost of living so many other places as well.  Our paychecks are being squeezed harder and harder, and this is absolutely killing the middle class.  In fact, the middle class in America is now a minority for the first time ever.

And now for the real bad news – this is about as good as things are ever going to get in this country.  As you can see from what I have shared above, we never really had any sort of meaningful “economic recovery”, and now we have entered the early phases of the next major downturn.

So where do we go from here?  Unfortunately, our debt-fueled prosperity has provided us with a massively inflated standard of living that is not even close to sustainable.  As this bubble bursts, the economic pain is going to be absolutely unprecedented.

But it won’t be just economic pain that we are facing.  In my new book, I detail the things that I believe that are coming to this country, and I explain why the entire planet will soon be facing incredibly challenging times.  It is going to be one of the most controversial Christian books of 2016, because it directly challenges many of the things that are being taught in mainstream churches today.  My book is an ominous message of warning and an inspiring message of hope, and I truly believe that it is the most important thing that I have ever written.

No matter how you may see the future, the key is that we all learn to love one another.  The years ahead are going to be extremely challenging, and those that want to chase everyone else away and survive as lone wolves are going to have a very rough time.  We all need each other, and those that have friends, family and communities around them are going to be in a much better position to weather the coming storms.

So let us hope for the best, but let us also prepare for the worst…

We thank you who read our posts and look to continue receiving ongoing encouragement, strength and wisdom through the news articles, the Now Think On This messages, and the videos posted daily on the site.

May the good Lord's hand be upon us as we look to Him in the days ahead.

Trust in the L-rd with all your heart and lean not to your own understanding. - Richard and Carolyn Hyde from Heart of G-d Ministries

Shalom dear Friends and Prayer Partners,

Richard:  How many of you have been disappointed in how things have turned out - be it a family event, a project at work or even ministering before a congregation?  That's what happened to me.  The L-rd had opened some doors in Basel, Switzerland and a few cities in nearby France to speak in churches about some of the new things the L-rd is doing in Israel, especially concerning the Gospel going forth in the Land.  We had a new video that we were excited to share with a church in France.  Many of the leaders in the church had not yet caught a vision of Israel and the importance of the church standing with Israel in these last days.

Unfortunately, we didn't have the video with French subtitles yet so the translator tried to translate the English subtitles into French as the video was playing in Hebrew!  Needless to say it was an unqualified disaster.  Afterwards I told Carolyn that I was disappointed in the overall message and felt that I had really let the church down.

But later that evening when we returned to minister in the same church, we heard that some leaders, two elders and the youth leader, had caught a vision for Israel for the first time while I was speaking!  I was shocked, but greatly encouraged!  G-d can take what seems to be, and in fact is, a disaster and turn it around. He can turn ashes into beauty, our feeble attempts into His success.  I'm reminded of Psalms 62:5
My soul, wait in silence for G-d alone, for my expectation is from Him.  Psalm 62:5

Carolyn: The L-rd wasn't finished instructing us yet.  A few months ago we experienced such open doors and success when we went to Paris to speak to Jewish people about Aliyah.  G-d had orchestrated things so beautifully and Jewish hearts were so open to hear about coming home.  So naturally we expected when He called us to Berlin that He would open doors but things didn't work out the way we expected.

Yes, I participated in a street outreach at a place where Israelis usually hang out but I mainly spoke with people from other nations.  And I attended a concert at the main synagogue; praise G-d for some contacts that are developing from that visit.  But when Richard and I visited places where Israelis were known to be, we didn't meet any!  On the final day of our trip, we tried so hard to contact a key Aliyah person from Europe whom we needed to meet, but it didn't seem to work.  G-d again was reminding us that our expectations are not necessarily His expectations and that it's imperative to yield our heart, our will and our hopes to His loving guidance.

Later while prayer-walking near the main synagogue, we saw a restaurant with a Hebrew name and when we approached it, there was a dear friend and intercessor sitting near the front door so we entered.  This began a chain reaction that led from one divine appointment to another with ten Israelis in that same place!  Plus the key Aliyah person we'd been trying to meet "just happened" to walk into that same restaurant after landing in Berlin, so unexpectedly, we were completely set up by the L-rd - at last!

What did we learn from this journey?  G-d is sovereign and we serve at His pleasure.
Trust in the L-rd with all your heart and lean not to your own understanding.
Acknowledge Him in all you do and He will direct your paths.  Proverbs 3:4-5

Please come to our home for worship and Israeli folk dancing then hear how the Spirit of G-d is moving in the Land!  Then enjoy dinner up on our balcony with a magnificent view of the Kineret (Sea of Galilee), Golan and Jordan Valley!

"I was just thanking the Lord for you guys the other day, as I truly witnessed a miracle within my child when we met you both.  We were at a Shabbat meal and as Richard blessed the bread he took the time to say that there were many blessings that came from observing Shabbat.  Joy was one of them.  As I held my daughter on my lap, she began to grin and then squeal with delight.  The remarkable thing was, she was about 18 months old and I had hardly ever seen a smile; she went months and months without even crying as she was so weak and frail.  But there in the midst of the Sabbath meal she began to have a joy, joy unspeakable that is still present and seen today.  Thank you for your ministry and I hope this encourages you all in some way.  It does me!"
"The L-rd blessed Shabbat and made it holy."
Alon
While visiting our dear friend Alon Tamir in his recording studio, he showed us a new series of music videos he's making with Yaron, another Israeli believer who plays Middle Eastern instruments.  I could hear a voice wafting through the music and Scriptures so Alon allowed me to sing on this project.  What an honor!  Please feel free to share this on social media pages of your Israeli friends!
Going Out of Zion

We plan to fly to Sardinia for a prophetic prayer and worship conference next week with European believers who have boats and a spirit of Issachar!  What a blessing to join them in praying over the seas that will one day carry the Jewish people home from the West...

While in Berlin we came alongside established ministries and supplied them with our outreach booklets.  They found great success sharing our booklets with the many Israelis they met so we will continue to support them in this way.  Thanks so much for helping us to bless ministries like these!
RH Ch
We truly thank you for your love, prayers and support because we know that we can't do what we do without the help of the saints like you!  While traveling Richard had several episodes of unstable angina and had to undergo another angioplasty after we returned home so thank you for keeping him in prayer for a healthy heart!
Blessings from Zion in Yeshua's love,
Richard & Carolyn Hyde

We write L-rd and G-d in this way because it's a Jewish custom that Carolyn grew up with and it's done only out of reverence and honor for the name of the L-rd.  Thanks for understanding.
