Bethlehem Pastor Bravely Speaks Out Against Demonizing Israel

Bethlehem Pastor Bravely Speaks Out Against Demonizing Israel

Wednesday, March 12, 2014 |  Israel Today Staff
Pastor Steven Khoury of Bethlehem is known to many of our readers as, together with his father, Naim Khoury, a Palestinian Christian leader dedicated to bringing true love, reconciliation and Godly justice to the region. And he’s not afraid to speak boldly in that direction.
In an interview with Dr. Michael Brown this week, Pastor Khoury took on current Christian efforts to demonize Israel and the Jews, even as the perpetrators cunningly reject institutionalized Replacement Theology.
It should be noted that Pastor Khoury takes a great risk to speak out so boldly, given that he lives under the reign of the Palestinian Authority. Prayers for his well-being are in order, and information on how our readers can further support his ministry is provided below.
Listen now to this critically-important interview:

If you would like to learn more about Pastor Khoury and his Holy Land Missions and help further the work of that ministry, visit:www.holylandmissions.org

'Trouble' Could Push Ukrainian Jews to Emigrate - CBN News

March 12, 2014

JERUSALEM, Israel -- Some 350,000 Jewish people live in the Ukraine. And with an upsurge in anti-Semitic attacks and the threat of war and violence there, many of them are considering immigrating to Israel -- known even in English by the Hebrew term aliyah, literally meaning "to come up," a reference to ascending to Jerusalem.

Edward Dolinsky, director general for Ukrainian Jewish Community, spoke to journalists in Jerusalem. He told CBN News the Jewish community is very troubled by events unfolding in their country.

"We were highly concerned by the events unfolded during Maidan [uprising] and for the struggle of Ukrainian people for freedom, and we are now very much concerned about Russian invasion in Crimea," Dolinsky said.

Dolinsky said they'd seen a number of anti-Semitic incidents but were not sure who was behind the attacks. He said some could have been provoked by the Russian influence.

Regarding the Russian invasion into Crimea, he said the Jewish community doesn't see it as a threat only against itself but as a wider threat against Ukraine.

According to Dolinsky, many Jews are now considering immigrating to Israel but only as a last resort.

"Many Jews were considering to making aliyah in this situation, especially in the times when the violence erupted in the streets of Kiev -- and now also because of the Russian invasion and all these threats and the danger of war," Dolinsky said.

"Of course many Jews are considering aliyah. [A] very important factor for making aliyah -- every Jewish family in Ukraine [has] relatives in Israel, living in Israel. So we are so much connected that the immigrating, [making] aliyah is the final, the last option but it's still on the table," he said.

Dolinsky believes that Crimea is already lost to the Russians -- that would include the more than 10,000 Jews who live there and their four synagogues.

According to Dolinsky, the Ukrainian Jewish community asked Israel to help them tighten security around synagogues and Jewish schools in Ukraine.

He also wants Christians to support the sovereignty and independence of Ukraine. He said Ukrainian Jews support a united Ukraine and they are "praying for the peaceful resolution of this crisis."

Crossing Over the Threshold of Open Doors by Sandie Freed

Sandie Freed:

Dr. Sandie FreedDear Believer,

Are you having to go through what you might refer to as a difficult time right now? And, even though it has been prophesied that this is a year of open doors and experiencing double blessings and breakthrough, do you feel as if your faith is weakened and that it is difficult for you to hold on to finish the race?

If you are contending for your new levels of increase and breakthrough, please allow me to give some insight as to how to properly respond to the new level of spiritual warfare needed for this season. And, let me assure you that you are not alone in this. Many Believers are experiencing difficulty crossing over into their promises in this season.

Opposition At The Threshold Of Open Doors

Recently I was in Katy, Texas, to minister at Wanda Roberson Ministries' conference entitled "Stepping Through Open Doors." When I travel, it is not unusual for me to have a dream from the Lord which exposes territorial strongholds and plans of the enemy. I love the faithfulness of God to expose any area of opposition that attempts to enslave His children! Precious one, keep reading – this article will empower you to cross over into your increase!

Python spiritThe night before I spoke at the conference, I had a dream of a threshold with an open door. At the threshold, there was a python snake that attempted to wrap itself around God's children as they were going through the door. (More on the python spirit in a bit.) This evil spirit would attempt to weaken its victim by squeezing the life and breath out of its body.

Also, there was a strong spirit of fear attached to this python spirit, and just the fear alone kept people from being empowered to cross over into enlargement and increase.

(Photo via Stock.xchange by krayker)

There was much contending at this threshold as the enemy would lash out with false accusations, fear, anxiety, and cause weakness (both physically and spiritually) in its attempts to hold on to each of us. Satan's desire is to keep us from getting past our past. Saints of God, listen up – the enemy does not want you to believe God for your breakthrough. He desires to weaken your faith by creating circumstances in your life that are completely opposite of what God has promised you.

Bottom line – your land of promise, your open door, awaits your arrival and crossing over, but the enemy does not like the fact that you are at a threshold of great, great breakthrough.

Perilous Times

So, why are we being promised open doors, double blessings, and many of God's "suddenlies" if we are also experiencing such difficulties? Well, I believe that we are living in what 2 Timothy 3:1 refers to as perilous times. The word "perilous" is a Greek word chalepos (pronounced kahl-ep-os') and it is translated as meaning "difficult, i.e. dangerous or (by implication) furious." I can relate to this translation as I have also been experiencing some difficult times.

And, I certainly believe that satan is furious that each of us is determined to cross over into increase!
Interestingly, another interpretation of perilous is "reduction in strength." Okay. Again, I can relate to feeling weak – both physically and spiritually. How so? Well, the enemy would like to squeeze the life out of me and weaken my faith; plus, I am struggling with physical strength at the same time.

And, a further study concerning perilous times reveal that it is linked to another Greek word which means "to let down, strike, and to lower (as into a void.)" Translations take this even one step further by explaining that during perilous times we even experience "chasms."

(SeeStrong's Concordance #5467, #5465, and #5490.)

The King and the Bride 2 - Positioning the Bride by Robert BartowReader, did you get that? Let me make it clear. Satan desires to cause us to believe that we are not seated in heavenly places in authority over him! He desires to deceive us into believing we have a lower position! He is attacking our belief systems at the threshold of open doors.

And now, get this: He wants to "void" our promises by deception.

He desires to create a chasm between us and our promises. How can he deceive us? Again, by creating situations in our life that seem to oppose our promises. Satan desires to weaken our strength, weaken our faith, and strike out with opposition at the threshold. However, we need to remember this important fact as we contend against satan and the python spirit –

Jesus Christ has already won the victory. His Blood was shed so that you are empowered with grace to cross over into your Promised Land!

Our minds must be renewed to that truth as we defeat every enemy that attempts to oppose us.
Let me encourage you with this thought –

IT IS NOT AS IT APPEARS! This truly IS your season to access the unseen!

The Python Spirit

In Greek, the term used for divination and witchcraft is "python." It is connected to a word meaning "to twist." A python is a large and muscular snake that will "twist" itself around its prey and kill it by squeezing or constricting until it suffocates.

"The python spirit is loosed whenever Jezebel is in the midst. It squeezes life out of hope, breakthroughs, finances, and lives.

It 'constricts' us to the point that we are unable to move forward into our future. As the python constricts with every squeeze, we feel the restraints and therefore are contained in old patterns of behavior and hopelessness."
It is very clear that a Jezebel spirit and python work together to weaken the hands of God's children as we build His Kingdom.

I have written extensively about a Jezebel spirit and her witchcrafts. For more information on this stronghold you may also desire to read The Jezebel Yoke: Breaking Free from Bondage and Deception or Crushing the Spirits of Greed and Poverty: Discerning and Defeating the Ancient Powers of Mammon and Babylon as Jezebel and Mammon work together to steal finances and breakthroughs from God's people.

Back To Perilous Times

Let's get back to more on "perilous times." A careful study on 2 Timothy 3:1-9 describes what is experienced during this season. Mankind will witness a season where they "love themselves," boast in themselves, are "disobedient to parents," ungrateful," "loving money," and "unholy." It goes on to describe mankind as "unforgiving," "without love," "loving pleasure more than God," and "having a form of godliness but denying its power."

I have written often of how the traditions of man have robbed us of demonstrating God's power, being unthankful and ungrateful – and how these areas rob us from experiencing freedom in Christ. For the sake of this article, I will only discuss just one of these manifestations that we might be experiencing during such troubled times, because I believe it is very significant. I italicized "without love" for this reason – that we simply must return to our first love. Precious Believers, love is a powerful weapon against our enemy.

Love Is a Weapon

Heart of Fire and Passion by Lillis BoyerThere is no doubt that we are in a new season of contention. We are instructed in 2 Corinthians 10:4 that our weapons of warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds. However, did we really ever consider the fact that love is a weapon?

Think about this: God is love, right? And because He loved the world, He sent His Son. Yes – because Heloved – the Father sent Jesus. Jesus came to earth with a purpose. 1 John 3:8 tells us that Jesus came with the purpose of destroying the works of the devil! And because Jesus also loved, He laid down His life as the ultimate sacrifice for our sins. Because of love – satan was defeated.

As New Covenant Believers, we are no longer under the Law. In fact, Jesus said that the greatest commandments were to "...love the Lord with all your heart, mind, and soul, and to love your neighbor as yourself" (Mark 12:30-31, paraphrased). Those two commandments are centered on love.

Love is the greatest gift, and also the greatest tool in warfare.

Restore Your Love and Passion

It's possible to lose our passion when we experience hard times. Yet, there is another reason we lose passion – I call it spiritual burn out. How does this occur? Well, when we are believing that what we "do" for God is more important to us than who we already "are" in God, we get completely caught up in "works." Dear one, "works" will weaken us, wear us out, and cause us to lose passion for God. I know this from first-hand experience.
When we are burned out, our fiery passion leaves. What we need are two things in order for us to experience restored love and passion for God: The fire of God to touch us and, secondly, repentance.

Forgiven by Jennifer PageTo experience His fire, we simply need to lay our lives on the altar. It's not a difficult thing, really.

We have a tendency to make this action difficult. Think about this: In the Old Testament, when a sacrifice was laid upon the altar, the fire of God came to consume it! If you want God to consume you, and I believe you do – simply lay down your will and surrender to His perfect will for your life.

Think about it as "total abandonment" in Him. Remember, one of the manifestations during perilous times is being "lovers of ourselves," and the lack of love for God.

Now, let's talk about repentance. Many believe that God is just waiting for us to mess up so that He can smack us with a big stick! I believed that for years; and a belief system like that sends us running away from God rather than to Him. Repentance is all about changing the way you think. In other words, we need to change the way we think about God and also about ourselves.

If we press into the love of God, running to Him in times of trouble and difficulty, we will be empowered with grace to cross over our thresholds!

His love for us will become our weapon against any python, Jezebel, or witchcraft stronghold! And, when we are empowered with the love of God, we are also empowered to love our neighbor and ourselves! This is important because we need each other. Unity releases life (see Psalm 133)! Unity will destroy the destructive power of python that attempts to steal life from us!

Christ died to give us salvation. The Greek word for salvation is the word sozo, which basically means that His love and sacrifice provided salvation, healing, deliverance, protection, and all that Heaven has to give us! Aren't you thankful for the love of God today? I know you are.

Dear one, your threshold awaits your crossing over – today!

Allow me to pray for you:

Father God, today we are believing for Your empowerment of grace as we come to Your throne. We repent for settling for religious works rather than pressing into Your desire for relationship. Forgive us for losing our passion for You. We turn from dead works today. We surrender our will to Your perfect will today. Consume us with Your holy fire and restore passion. Thank You that Your love is a weapon against our enemy during these troubled times. Thank You that love has already defeated satan's plans and that I am now empowered to enter into my future. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Purim Celebration - The Historical Story of Hadassah/Esther & Mordecai

Purim Celebration -
The Historical Story
of Hadassah/Esther
& Mordecai

The word "Purim" means "lots" and thus refers to the lottery that Haman chose for the date of massacre. Thus Purim is celebrated on the 14th day of Adar, which is usually observed in the month of March. The 13th of Adar is the day which Haman chose for the extermination of the Jews, and it is on that day only when that the Jews battled their enemies for their lives. Thus on the 14th, they celebrated joyously for their survival.

Thus the cities that were walled at the time of Joshua, Purim is observed on the 15th of the month, because the book of Esther says that in Shushan (a walled city), deliverance from the massacre would not be completed until the next day. Thus the 15th day is referred to as Shushan Purim.

However a leap year can witness two months of Adar, thus Purim is observed in the second month of Adar, so it is always one month before Passover. The 14th day of the first Adar in a leap year is thus celebrated as a minor holiday called Purim Katan, which means "little Purim". Though there are no specific observances for Purim Katan; however, a person should celebrate the holiday without mourning or fasting. In fact some other communities also observe the "Purim Katan" on the anniversary when their community was saved from a catastrophe, evil, destruction or oppression.

The Purim holiday is generally preceded by a minor fast, the Fast of Esther, which honors the Esther's three days of fasting which was observedas a preparation for her meeting with the king. Further, custom and tradition that are observed related to Purim is to hear the reading of the book of Esther. The book of Esther is commonly known as the Megillah, which means scroll. Although there are five books of Jewish scripture that are collectively referred to as Megillahs (Esther, Ruth, Ecclesiastes, Song of Songs, and Lamentations), this is the one which people usually refer to when they speak of the Megillah.

Moreover it further customary to boo, hiss, stamp feet and rattle the gragers (noisemakers) whenever the name of Haman is mentioned for the whole purpose of this custom is to "blot out the name of Haman".

Purim HamentaschenOther customs which are well associated with the observance of Purim is that of feasting, drinking and that of merry-making. For according to the Talmud, a person should drink until he cannot point out the difference between a "cursed be Haman" and a "blessed be Mordecai", though opinions may vary from person to person.

Again a person certainly should not become so drunk that he may violate other commandments or can get seriously ill. However there is an exemption for those recovering alcoholics or others who may suffer serious harm from alcohol.

In addition to the feasting and merry-making customs, sending out gifts of food or drink have also become a customary affair. Thus the sending of gifts of food and drink is referred to as shalach manos (sending out portions). Moreover amongst the Ashkenazic Jews, a common treat at this time of year is that of the hamantaschen (Haman's pockets). These triangular fruit-filled cookies are the replica of Haman's three-cornered hat.

Making charity can also be referred as a common custom observed during Purim. Other customary affair observed in order to celebrate Purim is to hold carnival-like celebrations.Various plays and parodies are also performed in order to entertain the present audience and many beauty contests are also held. Thus it can be said that sometimes Americans refer to Purim as the Jewish Mardi Gras.

Sharing Love from Sweden by Eva Haglund - WOMEN PRECIOUS FOR GOD

March 12, 2013

Shalom!

I send you a greeting from Stockholm. Here is spring now coming slowly with 10 C+. Love when spring comes and everything wake up outside like new clothes. Will take a walk and pray for  for Sweden today. The nations need prayers.

Shalom and blessings from Stockholm!

.

WOMEN - PRECIOUS  FOR GOD

For me it it feels important to celebrate the International Women Day to to think about woman and about their situation in the world. For me it feels important to celebrate it also because today many women are bad treated in the world today.

Women are bad treated  in different ways. They are not treated as they have the same value  as men sometimes . There are men who trample on them.  Some men think they are above. Some men are hard on women and force them to do things with a hard heart and with no respect for the woman.

This is not how God looks at women. In Song of Solomon we can see how a husband ought look at his wife  and not trample at her. For instance, in Song of Solomon we can read that the bridegroom says in chapter 2:2 that his bride is in his eyes like a lily among thorns.
You can also see how God sees a woman in Song on Solomon. He looks at them with love and does not look down at them and think they have less value than a man.

Some congregations do not understand the value of women. God can use women as much as He can use men. God also needs women to preach today. Some leaders do not understand this but this is also how God wants to use women.

Today we need voices in the world saying things. I think God can use whoever He wants in the Body of Christ to stand up for Him and to do His will and He can use women. Women are precious in God`s eyes. They need to know their value. God loves women.

A women is like a precious diamond in his hand and he do not want any to trample on this diamond!  In the bible we can read read about in Genesis 29 that Jacob loved Rachel more than Leah . She was blind and he looked down on her and did not love her.

But we can read that God saw this and did not like this and in Genesis 29:31 is written. "When the Lord saw that Leah was unloved he, he opened her womb, but Rachel was barren." God do not like when women are bad treated we can see here. God loves the woman as much as He loves men an he want them to be respected and loved by men.

I believe however not in bitterness but in forgiveness if anyone has been bad treated. Jesus said in deepest pain - in a pain we do not understand at the cross - "Father forgive them" In Gal.3 : 28 is the words:  "There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female for you are all one in Christ."

Here we can read that male and women are one in Christ and then they ought to be treated as this in Body of Christ. They are not always treated so because not all understand this. In Esther we can see that God used a woman to save her people. She was brave and was willing to risk her life to save her people.

She was a brave women and was used great by God. God chose to use a woman to save
all the people and He can also use woman strong today. When men learn to know God they can learn to treat women well because He is love and women are precious for Him.

Isaiah.43:4 it says how God look at woman. "Since you were precious in My sight , you have been honored, And I have loved you."

I think God wants men and women to be one in Christ standing together. And God need women today.

Eva Haglund.

WOMEN ARE LIKE PRECIOUS DIAMONDS IN GOD`S EYES!

The Spirit Is Saying 'Forward'! - Dr. Michael Brown

Michael Brown

The Spirit Is Saying 'Forward'!

While reflecting on a powerful quote from the lips of Catherine Booth, I was struck by the fact that the latest strategies of the American church, strategies to avoid conflict with the world, are not only wrongheaded. They are actually diametrically opposed to the strategies we should be following.
Let me explain what I mean.
Catherine Booth was the co-founder of the Salvation Army, along with her husband, William Booth, and for decades the Salvationists were known for their fearless, uncompromising preaching of the gospel, their sacrificial living and their compassionate care for the hurting and the poor.
Catherine was the more fiery preacher of the two, and in her sermon “Aggressive Christianity,” she exclaimed, “Opposition! It is a bad sign for the Christianity of this day that it provokes so little opposition. If there were no other evidence of it being wrong, I should know from that. When the church and the world can jog along together comfortably, you may be sure there is something wrong. The world has not altered. Its spirit is exactly the same as it ever was, and if Christians were equally faithful and devoted to the Lord and separated from the world, living so that their lives were a reproof to all ungodliness, the world would hate them as much as it ever did. It is thechurch that has altered, not the world.”
I had quoted these words almost 25 years ago in my book How Saved Are We?—not to mention many times since—but last week, when I posted them on my Facebook page, something hit me between the eyes.
On the one hand, Catherine's words are more relevant now than when she uttered them in England in the 1800s, since in so many ways the church of America and the world do “jog along together comfortably” today.
As I wrote in 1993 in The End of the American Gospel Enterprise, “Like Sardis, we have become the ‘perfect model of inoffensive Christianity’ (G. B. Caird), ‘having a reputation of being alive, yet being dead’ (Rev. 3:1). Like Sardis, we have so come to terms with our pagan environment that we provoke almost no opposition and make virtually no impact. And like Sardis, situated high on a mountain rock, we have felt safe and secure in this world.”
And that was written back in 1993. Just think of how much more compromised and inoffensive we have become since then!
But as I reflected on Catherine Booth’s piercing words, I said to myself, “Yet in many other ways, the church of America and the world are absolutely not jogging along together comfortably. We find ourselves in conflict, and there is often hostility, anger, legal persecution and, occasionally, even violence directed against us.”
Yes, the truth be told, on some important fronts, we are experiencing real opposition from the world, and some of it is vicious and angry.
Where exactly are we experiencing fierce opposition? And what are these important fronts?
I can answer those questions in two words: abortion and homosexuality.
Yet these are the very fronts from which many Christian leaders are urging us to retreat, telling us that we need to stop provoking so much controversy and that we need to quit standing up for these vital social issues if we want to win to Jesus those on the other side.
Now, I totally agree that we must be full of compassion and grace when we stand for righteousness and that we must overcome evil with good and hatred with love. And to the extent we get in the flesh and become mean-spirited and nasty, we are already defeated and we have brought reproach to the Lord, not to mention driven away those He died for.
And I absolutely affirm that the first and greatest priority is winning the lost and making disciples.
But didn’t Jesus say that those who were “persecuted for righteousness’ sake” were truly happy and blessed (Matt. 5:10, ESV)? And didn’t He say that this is how the prophets before us were persecuted (vv. 11-12)? And weren’t the prophets persecuted for calling their nation to repentance and for rebuking social evils?
Why should it be different with us?
When Paul spoke to Felix about “faith in Christ Jesus,” didn’t he also speak to him “about righteousness and self-control and the coming judgment,” and isn’t this why Felix became alarmed (Acts 24:24-25)? (Felix was basically living in adultery with his wife, based on the laws and customs of the day.)
But today, when it is clear that we have hit a nerve when we stand up for the life of the unborn, to the point that peaceful pro-life activists have been attacked by police, some are telling us that we need to adopt a softer, more gentle tone.
Isn’t this simply a matter of compromise and appeasement?
And today, when it is clear that we have hit another major nerve when we oppose homosexual activism—while welcoming every lost person into our churches to hear the gospel and receive God’s love—we are told that if we will only drop this divisive issue, then we will see many more gays and lesbians saved and helped.
Again, I do agree that we have become too politicized on these issues—they are really gospel issues first and foremost and political issues second—but in reality, unless we affirm homosexuality as God-blessed and God-given, we will still be viewed as Bible-bashing homophobes. And we will soon learn the truth of Winston Churchill’s remark that “an appeaser is one who feeds a crocodile—hoping it will eat him last.”
Pastors, leaders, parents and all concerned believers, hear me clearly today: When and if same-sex marriage is codified as law throughout America, gay activists will not simply say, “We have finally achieved our goal!” To the contrary, all of us who do not affirm and endorse homosexuality (and bisexuality and transgenderism) will be singled out as intolerant bigots, and our freedoms of conscience, speech and religion will be the next things to go.
In fact, they are already on their way out, unless we take a stand for righteousness today.
What then do we do?
First, we repent of all known sin in our own lives, purging ourselves of hypocrisy, with God’s supernatural help.
Second, we ask God for a broken heart of compassion for those who oppose His standards.
And third, we ask the Lord for courage to stand, refusing to compromise or back down regardless of cost or consequence, prepared to be persecuted for righteousness’ sake and counting that persecution a true joy, always lifting up the name of Jesus in spirit and word and deed.
Where are we experiencing opposition today? That is where we need to take our stand.
As Martin Luther said, “If I profess with the loudest voice and clearest exposition every portion of the truth of God except precisely that little point which the world and the devil are at the moment attacking, I am not confessing Christ, however boldly I may be professing Christ. Where the battle rages, there the loyalty of the soldier is proved and to be steady on all the battle front besides, is mere flight and disgrace if he flinches at that point.”
I hear the Spirit of God saying, “Forward!” I do not hear Him saying, “Retreat!”
