What America's Failures in Iraq Mean to Israelis

What America's Failures in Iraq Mean to Israelis

Sunday, June 15, 2014 |  Israel Today Staff
Israelis are growing increasingly skeptical over whether or not they can trust American security guarantees as they watch a previously US-occupied Iraq crumble in the face of a jihadist onslaught.
Over the past few weeks, the armies of the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) have scored major victories in northern Iraq, and are now said to be moving on Baghdad itself.
One of those victories was the conquest of Mosul, Iraq’s second largest city. Reports indicate that the US-trained and equipped Iraqi army units in Mosul folded like a house of cards as ISIS approached.
Israeli analyst Guy Bechor, a regular media commentator, noted in an op-ed for the Ynet news portal that “the Americans built this army, trained it and have invested tens of billions of dollars in it in the past decade. But its thousands of soldiers have escaped without fighting, leaving their shoes and clothes behind, as well as advanced American military equipment, an airport, hospitals and prisons.”
It is important to note that in addition to pouring so much into building the Iraqi army, US President Barack Obama deemed that force ready and capable of handling the state’s security when he withdrew US forces in 2011.
Why is this important to Israelis? As Bechor explains:
“Those same hallucinating Americans designated a security plan for us in Judea and Samaria, like the plan they designated for Iraq. US Secretary of State John Kerry, with all his security experts, thought that it would be enough to have an American plan on paper in order to stabilize a [Palestinian] regime and a state there.”
In fact, the Americans have played this game with Israel before in the strong pressure applied on the Jewish state to abandon the Gaza Strip in 2005. Not two years later, the US-trained and equipped Palestinian Authority was routed by Hamas and Gaza became a haven for jihadists of all stripes.
Bechor and many other experts are convinced the same would occur in Judea and Samaria - the so-called “West Bank” - if ever the two-state solution were to come to fruition.

'This Was to be Expected'

'This Was to be Expected'

Sunday, June 15, 2014 |  Ryan Jones  ISRAEL TODAY
A prominent rabbi in Israel’s settlement movement said on Saturday night that the nation shouldn’t be overly surprised by the abduction of three Jewish teens by Palestinian terrorists.
“It was obvious that the government’s acquiescence to release hundreds of murderous terrorists in previous deals would send a clear message that [abduction] pays,” Rabbi Shalom Dov Wolpo told Israel’s HNN, adding that it is “incumbent upon all political leaders, including the prime minister, to admit their mistake and not release another terrorist.”
Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman appeared to meet Rabbi Wolpo’s demands when he acknowledged on Sunday that the abduction of Eyal Yifrach, 19, Gil-ad Shaar, 16, and Naftali Frenkel, 19 (pictured) could be at least partially blamed on past prisoner releases and exchanges.
“There will be no more prisoner releases in instances such as this,” Liberman told Army Radio. “In no way will those who sit in Israeli prisons be freed.”
In its ongoing search for the boys, Israel has imposed a military lock-down on Judea, and IDF troops are reportedly surrounding the city of Hebron, close to where the abduction took place.
Israel has also started arresting leading Hamas officials, after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu determined the group was behind the kidnapping. Hebron has a strong Hamas presence.
One of the Hamas leaders picked up by Israeli forces is Hassan Yousef, a Hamas founder and father of Mosab Yousef, who famously aided Israeli intelligence before converting to Christianity and finding asylum in America.
The following video provides a unique perspective from the helmet camera of one of the Israeli soldiers searching house-to-house for the abducted teens in Hebron:

Meanwhile, thousands of Israelis, including the nation’s chief rabbis, gathered to pray for the abducted teens at the Western Wall in Jerusalem:

and at the Cave of the Patriarchs in Hebron:

My help comes from the Lord...

A New Door Has Opened by Doug Addison - Identity Network

A New Door Has Opened by Doug Addison - Identity Network

A Door Opened in the Spiritual Realm

I released a prophetic word in May about sudden changes coming and the Wind of Change angel. During the weekend of May 30, a new door opened in the spiritual realm that is going to usher in a new season of radical changes for the good.

We had two earthquakes in Southern California and I not only felt both of them, God spoke to me during the shaking.

The first one was on Friday May 30, a 3.8 that was centered in San Pedro (Saint Peter, the rock). I heard the Holy Spirit say to "prepare for something new." It occurred at 8 PM and 8 represents new beginnings. God is going to "rock" things and radical change is on the way.

I felt compelled to "prepare" so I bought some earthquake preparedness items. On Sunday, June 1 just before 8 PM and just as I was installing earthquake straps on our new television, another earthquake rocked the Los Angeles area. These were very mild earthquakes and there was no damage. It was a prophetic sign of something new coming. This is not a judgment word. The first earthquake was 3.8 and the second one happened as I was strapping down my "tell-a-vision". This is symbolic that God is bringing new visions and a new foundation for the way to bring these new visions into reality.

Because the earthquakes both initially registered 3.8, I was drawn to Revelation 3:8 that says:
"I know your deeds. See, I have placed before you an open door that no one can shut. I know that you have little strength, yet you have kept my word and have not denied my name."

Doors represent new opportunities and seasons. New strength and spiritual authority is coming to those who are weak and have been holding on to prophetic words and promises. The new door has opened and we can expect to see things pick up. I want to share a few things I have learned about responding to something of this magnitude.

Things Often Looks Opposite

As God is on the move and opening news doors, keep in mind that things quite often look like the opposite just before a breakthrough. I keep mentioning this to people because it is crucial to understand this right now. As God is releasing something new in your life don't be surprised if the enemy comes and tries to distract you.

A mesmerizing type of spirit is working overtime to get you to look at your problems and not solutions. Old thoughts and behaviors may have recently surfaced and during a time we should be excited, we end up feeling discouraged!
We have to be careful that we don't come into agreement with the attack of the enemy.

"Truly I tell you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven. Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven." Matthew 18:18-19 NIV

Here's some good news: stay the course and you will break through the fog. June gloom will lift and July through September will have a different feel and spiritual freedom will come.

Limits are Being Removed

God is limitless so what you can do through His love, power, and strength has no limits as well! You have access to everything you need to succeed. You have peace with God, the power that raised Jesus from the dead is in you and you have the Holy Spirit and God's network of angels. You God's word and promises and you have friends and people who love you and can pray with you! Yes, you have lots of resources so be sure to utilize them.

"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." Philippians 4:13 NKJV

"… but with God all things are possible." Matthew 19:26 NIV

The Outcasts are Coming! The Outcasts are Coming!

I have been talking for a number of years about a move of God coming on those who have been outcast from Christianity. There is a group being held in reserve right now that will do things in the Spirit that will be astounding. Currently they don't fit in and they don't realize who they are just yet. Many of them seem hopeless. Some have grown up in church but got wounded and are drifting in life. Most of them feel deep inside there is something more for them to accomplish on Earth but they don't know what it is.

A few years ago God showed me that this group and this new movement coming is similar to Isaiah 44:

"For I will pour water on the thirsty land, and streams on the dry ground; I will pour out my Spirit on your offspring, and my blessing on your descendants. They will spring up like grass in a meadow, like poplar trees by flowing streams. Some will say, 'I belong to the LORD' others will call themselves by the name of Jacob; still others will write on their hand, 'The LORD's,' and will take the name Israel." Isaiah 44:3-5

There's a commitment level coming on a generation of people who have been living in a dry time. They will soon come on the scene and have an amazing commitment to the Lord. My entire ministry and life calling is to help these individuals who are "spiritual outcasts." They are already starting to rise up. They are not really in a particular age bracket but they are the best of the best being saved to come on the scene at the right time. What God is doing right now is starting outside of church buildings and it may look strange at first to those who don't have spiritual "eyes to see" as Jesus said.

If you know someone who fits the outcast description, maybe your children, grandchildren, or someone you love is seriously adrift, here's a promise from God to you for them:

This is what the Lord says: "Restrain your voice from weeping and your eyes from tears, for your work will be rewarded," declares the Lord. "They will return from the land of the enemy. So there is hope for your descendants," declares the Lord. "Your children will return to their own land." Jeremiah 31:16-17 NIV

The new is here! Expect to continue to see things happen at an accelerated pace. We are moving into a time that we can accomplish more with less effort. Keys for this new time are to stay at peace and let go of doubt and fear. Ask God to show you what you should focus on specifically for this time.

This is an amazing time to be alive!

Blessings,

Mosul Iraq -- Match Historical Pictures to Today's Headlines

Israel's History - a Picture a Day (Beta)

Jihadi forces overran Mosul, Iraq's second largest city, this week. Analysts explain Mosul's significance as the center of Iraq's oil-rich areas, the gateway for the Sunni radicals to attack Baghdad, and a debacle for the U.S.-supported Iraqi army.

But Mosul also has an ancient history.  It was the Biblical city of Nineveh, so large that the Book of Jonah describes it as a "great city of three days
