Arms of Love - my latest book. My gift to you for $3.77.

Greetings friends.

My 11th book, Arms of Love, was published this week. I received our first order of 30 copies this past Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2015.

This one is a small book - 14 messages - purposely written that way so that it would be read and not laid aside on a table. Knowing that many of you either don't read books, or believing that there are too many chapters in books and not enough hours in the day - thus too big and time consuming, well, I have the solution. This book is not that book! It is the Twitter generation after all.

So have some joy and be at peace. This book is only 86 total pages (including all the extra stuff that is usually put in books), 5" x 8" in size so that it fits nicely in a women's purse (sorry men), and can be read in one sitting, or 14, whichever you prefer.

And just so you don't bust your Hanukkah or Christmas budget, here is the deal.

For the cost of mailing it to you (USA residents only - sorry my international friends) and the price of the Jiffy bag I use ($2,72 postage and $1.05 bubble bag from Office Depot) I will send it to you for $3.77. My gift at this festive time, for I love BOTH Hanukkah and Christmas - one of the book's messages by the way!

Our ministry of Love For His People has already paid the cost of printing and shipping the books to us, so that is no cost to you.

Thus, if you are so moved, please send me your check, made out to LOVE FOR HIS PEOPLE, to:

Love For His People
Attn: Steve Martin
P.O. Box 414
Pineville, NC 28134

(I like to think of Pineville as the NC little town of Bethlehem, similar to the actual town of Jesus/Yeshua's birth, which is just south of Jerusalem, Israel. We are just south of Charlotte, NC.)

For those of who do use checks, I added a convenient PayPal button on the left, under the Arms of Love book, for you to use. There is an added sales tax charge for this though.)

And no, you won't find this offer on any website.

Plus - fear not little flock! You won't be added to any mailing list. (We don't have one.) I have never sent out a mailing asking for funds, so you won't get put on another mailing list. (I did that for 24 years with three large ministries.Their income was between $1-2 million each year. Our income is $20,000 a year.) Besides, we don't have any staff of any kind, nor an advertising/marketing budget funds for that purpose. It is just me and my good wife Laurie.

And..we just like to give out gifts!

Blessings on ye head,

Steve Martin

P.S. Here is the fine print - I will have only 25 books to send. This "deal of the holiday season" ends Dec. 21. So that gives you 10 days to get me your $3.77. And heah! - it will be worth the price of that extra loaf of specialty bread, or even less than two 7 Eleven Big Bite/Big Gulp hot dog deals (they are normally $2.00 each. (That I know...)

If you think you can't get me a check by then and want a book, just send me an email. I will hold one for you, and order extra books if I need to.

loveforhispeople@gmail.com

And again, you won't be added to an e-mail list either. I don't maintain one.

For those of who do use checks, I added a convenient PayPal button on the left, under the Arms of Love book, for you to use. There is and added charge for this though.

Arms of Love: That's What It Is All About

Steve Martin's Latest Book
December, 2015

In 2010 the Lord God of Israel, my Savior Jesus Christ (Yeshua HaMashiach), led me to start the ministry we call Love For His People. Its primary purpose is to share the love of the Lord with the nation of Israel, Jews around the world, and the people in all the nations as we can. For that end, through social media, writing and distributing books, and in person ministry, we are seeing the love of Jesus spread. We are grateful that He has given us much love in order to do just that.

We often hear the word “love” spoken out loud, and written about, in many ways. It has contrasting meanings to the wide range of people that exist, as it is expressed in different methods through people. When it has all been said and done, there is an eternal love that will stand the test of fire. Because the biblical expression of love, laying down one’s life for his friends, has eternal value, this love from God the Father to His creation is the type that I most seek after and try to share.

In these short chapters of Arms of Love, which is also the title of a song Laurie and I sang while leading various church worship meetings, and as the lead singers in our Ahava Love Band, I share some aspects of how I believe the Bible speaks of love.

For you who are about to read this, my prayer is that your heart will be enlarged with His, and you too will become one, even more, to give love for His people, both Jew and Gentile, both saved and unsaved. I hope that as you read these chapters, you will become more inspired to spend time with the Lord, experience His heart of love, and share it with our fellow man. The world needs to know the love of God.

Join us on our podcast each weekday for an interesting story, well told, from Charisma News. Listen at charismapodcastnetwork.com.

Christian leaders are pushing the Obama administration to declare that ISIS is committing genocide against Christians, Politico reports.
The term "genocide" has specific legal and political implications.
Under international treaties, the United States may have a legal obligation to act if the State Department declares that Christians are victims of genocide.
That declaration would pressure the White House to provide protection to Iraqi and Syrian Christians.
Many in Congress would likely support the idea.
This week, lawmakers gathered on Capitol Hill to talk about Christian persecution in the Middle East.
Rep. Chris Smith, R-N.J., who chairs the House Subcommittee on Global Human Rights, says the Obama administration should label the enslavement, torture and execution of Christians by Islamic State as genocide.
"The world is experiencing a crisis of religious freedom that poses a direct challenge to U.S. interests in the Middle East, Central and East Asia, Russia, China and sub-Saharan Africa," Smith wrote in an op-ed posted on The Hill.
"Diplomacy by itself will not stop terrorism, but coordinated with military and economic development efforts, it can help undermine the conditions that nurture groups such as ISIS and Boko Haram as well as extremist Hinduism or radical Buddhism," he wrote.
Groups assisting refuges say Christians who flee ISIS often face persecution and religious violence in U.N. refugee camps.

Ancient Engraving of Menorah Found on Temple Mount May Have Just Ended Centuries of Biblical Debate By Lea Speyer BREAKING ISRAEL NEWS

Ancient Engraving of Menorah Found on Temple Mount May Have Just Ended Centuries of Biblical Debate

“And you shall make a menorah of pure gold…And six branches coming out of its sides: three menorah branches from its one side and three menorah branches from its second side…” (Exodus 25:32-40)
Just in time for Hanukkah, a 1,000-year-old archaeological find may just have ended a centuries old debate on what the original design of the Menorah in the Holy Temples resembled.
Discovered by the Temple Mount Sifting Project, the 1,000-year-old potsherd originating from the Temple Mount bearing a symbol resembling a menorah is being hailed by archaeologists as a significant discovery.
According to archaeologists, based on the type of clay and texture of the potsherd, the find dates back to the Byzantine rule over Jerusalem (324-640 CE). Although the whole design of the menorah is cut off because the potsherd is broken, archaeologists believe that the drawing was an attempt to draw the Temple Menorah.
“What makes this discovery significant is that it originated upon the Temple Mount itself. The design of the menorah upon the potsherd may shed light upon an age-old debate regarding the appearance of the menorah that stood in the Heikal (hall) of the First and Second Temples,” said Zachi Dvira, Co-Founder and Director of the project.
The origins of the design of the Menorah are found in the Book of Exodus (25:32-40):
“And you shall make a menorah of pure gold. The menorah shall be made of hammered work; its base and its stem, its goblets, its knobs, and its flowers shall all be one piece with it. And six branches coming out of its sides: three menorah branches from its one side and three menorah branches from its second side…so for the six branches that come out of the menorah…And you shall make its lamps seven…”
While the Bible instructs which materials to use, how to form the Menorah and what designs to incorporate, rabbinic scholars – including Rabbi Shlomo Yitzchaki, known as Rashi (1040-1105 CE), Rabbi Abraham ibn Ezra (1089-1167 CE), and Maimonides (1135-1204 CE) – have battled over whether the branches were meant to be round or straight.
Get all of your Hanukkah gifts from the Israel365 store!
The potsherd, although fragmented, clearly depicts a menorah with straight branches, unlike other ancient representations in which they appear in a circular fashion. The base of the menorah can only be partly seen and archaeologists believe it was composed of three legs (two angular and one straight).
At the top of the menorah, the branches are polygonal depressions which may represent the almond shaped cups that held the oil for the wicks.
“As the potsherd dates to centuries after the destruction of the Second Temple and the incision was done after firing the clay, it is difficult to deduce from it anything concrete regarding the original shape of the Menorah, but we can learn about how Jews living in Jerusalem during the Byzantine period or later understood the design of the menorah,” stated Dvira.
The Temple Mount Sifting Project, with support from the City of David Foundation and under the auspices of Bar-Ilan University, was formed in 1999 in response to the illegal removal of tons of earth from the Temple Mount by the Islamic Waqf without archaeological supervision.
“Since the Temple Mount has never been excavated, the ancient artifacts retrieved in the Sifting Project provide valuable and previously inaccessible information.  The many categories of finds are among the largest and most varied ever found in Jerusalem. Even though they have been extracted from their archaeological context, most of these artifacts can be identified and dated by comparing them with those found at other sites,” said Dvira.

Today's Israel Inspiration

The days of Chanukah were set aside for greatness and light from the time of Creation. Let's look at the story of Creation in the Bible. Counting from the very first Hebrew word of the Torah ("Bereishit"/"in the beginning"), the 25th word is "ohr"/light, alluding to the light of Chanukah on the 25th day of Kislev! Just as God "saw the light that it was good," and then separated it from darkness, on Chanukah we recall that a little light and hope can dispel the darkness of despair. Meir Panim (lit. "lighting up faces") is brightening the lives of the poor in Israel and giving hope to struggling families and impoverished citizens this Chanukah.

Hi!  Just know that you all are in our thoughts and prayers. I have my Israel Flag attached to the outside of our house in support of Israel. After the world was so devastated about the awful violence on the people in Paris, France... I said to my church friends, "Israel has lived this way for 100+ years!  Now you know what they face every day!" ... My husband and I presently live in Arkansas. He is a Baptist Pastor. 7 Ways to Bless Immigrants Instead of Bashing Them by Lee Grady - Identity Network

7 Ways to Bless Immigrants Instead of Bashing Them

by Lee Grady

Identity Network
This morning when I bought a newspaper in the Orlando airport, the man who rang up my purchase greeted me with a bashful smile. The name on his employee badge was "ZIAD." I always try to guess where people are from, but his name wasn't familiar. Was he from Lebanon? Jordan? Egypt?

Ziad finally solved the mystery. "I am Palestinian, sir," he said.

"Welcome, Ziad," I told him, "Let me be the first person to tell you today that I'm glad you are here in the United States!"
"That makes be very happy, sir," he replied.

I've been going out of my way to say kind words to immigrants these days - not just because Donald Trump has been offending them with his "all Mexicans are rapists" comments but also because I believe Christians have a responsibility to be hospitable to foreigners.

I understand the fear that has gripped our country in this age of ISIS terror. In the last month around 130 people died in the Paris attacks, 43 were killed in Beirut and 224 died in the Russian airliner that was allegedly bombed by radical jihadis. In response to the violence, 30 U.S. governors have announced that Syrian refugees aren't welcome here - even though they are fleeing to America to escape terrorists.

Entertaining Angels Unknowingly

What I don't understand is how Christians in this country can be so heartless when it comes to showing kindness to the very people Jesus told us to love. We have allowed our fear - as well as our cherished Republican Party values - to nullify God's Word. (Note to critics: I'm a Republican, but I'm a Christian first.)

The New Testament calls us to love not only the people who look like us but even those who are considered enemies. Hebrews 13:2 says: "Do not forget to entertain strangers, for thereby some have entertained angels unknowingly." Meanwhile Christian leaders are exhorted in 1 Timothy 3:2 to be "hospitable" - and this is not simply a reference to hosting a meal. The word is in the Greek philoxenos, which means "love of strangers."

So how can you and your church obey this biblical mandate and show love to the strangers who live near you? Here are a few suggestions, offered just in time for the holiday season:
  • Say something nice. I often tell immigrants I'm glad they are in the United States - and most of them say they've never received a compliment like that before. Many of them are lonely - and they feel unwelcome, especially when Mr. Trump and other disrespectful Americans complain about foreigners as if they carry a disease.

  • Find out their story. You might be surprised to learn that the "Muslim" living in your neighborhood is actually a Middle Eastern Christian. Or that the Somali refugee who attends your child's high school fled to this country to escape a war. All you have to say is: "I'd love to hear how you came to live in America." Then listen.

  • Invite them to church. Never assume that immigrants are hostile to your faith. When I spoke recently in South Dakota, I met a Muslim girl from Uzbekistan who has been attending church for months out of curiosity. She finds love and friendship among Christians, even though she struggles to understand why Jesus died for her.

  • Offer legal help. Americans often complain about illegal immigrants without bothering to realize that many of them are eager to comply with our laws. They actually need help navigating our complicated system, which is snarled by delays and unfair to people from certain countries. Recruit lawyers in your church to provide free seminars or other legal assistance to immigrants in your area.

  • Prepare a Christmas meal. Foreigners who move to the United States are curious about the meaning of our Christmas holiday - and they won't understand it by visiting a local mall or by watching Elf. Invite international students or an immigrant family into your home and let them experience your family traditions.

  • "Adopt" a refugee family. Aside from the displaced Syrians who are waiting to come to the U.S. today, refugees from Africa and other nations are probably already living near you. Most of them have been traumatized by war, poverty or persecution - and they are lonely and insecure. Contact one of the Christian organizations working with refugees (such as World Relief) and volunteer to provide meals, babysitting, Christmas gifts or mentoring.

  • Become an English instructor. There are more than 1 million internationals studying on U.S. campuses in 2015. (The majority come from China, India, South Korea, Saudi Arabia, Canada, Japan, Taiwan, Vietnam, Mexico and Brazil.) These students would love an American friend to help them with their English. Offer to be a language coach by contacting your local college or university.

While the immigrant-bashers talk of building a wall to keep immigrants out, we are called to build bridges of friendship. Let's remember that Jesus - who lived as a refugee in Egypt during His infancy - wants the church to love foreigners.

For Every 40, There is a 41

Get Out of the Boat, with Shawn Akers
Have you ever had those times when you've doubted God and said to yourself, "He just doesn't care about me?" If you're honest with yourself, the answer is a cowering "yes."
Ashamedly, I know I have. Probably too many times to count.
There are times when the expectations of life don't match reality, and frustration sets in. It's a time when the enemy can steal your confidence and your joy. It's easy to become stressed and doubtful of God's Word.
For me, that's when divine appointment comes. God knows how to deliver a good word at just the right time, and He did it recently through my pastor, Ed Garvin, who preached a sermon called "Reality Check: When Expectations and Reality Collide" (the sermon starts at 16:20).
We all know the story of Joseph and the trials and tribulations he went through during his young life, before he became an extremely influential man. However, I had never heard it preached this way before.
Joseph was a man of destiny, and he sensed that at a very early age. He was convinced, as Pastor Garvin said, "that his tomorrow held greatness." Indeed it did, but little did Joseph know of the hardships he would endure before he reached that potential.
After his brothers unexpectedly turned on him and sold him into slavery, Joseph served a man named Potiphar, and he began to find favor with his master. Yet God knew better than Joseph that Joseph wasn't ready for his destiny. Joseph still had ego issues with which he had to deal, and more trouble loomed on the horizon.
Because Joseph shunned her sexual advances, Potiphar's wife accused Joseph of sexually attacking her, and Potiphar had Joseph thrown into prison. According to Genesis 39:2, "The Lord was with Joseph," yet he was imprisoned. Sound familiar? The Lord is also with you, yet your trials and tribulations overwhelm you.
Most of you know the rest of the story: Joseph languished in prison for many years, but was brought out by Pharaoh because of the gift God bestowed upon him to interpret dreams. Joseph then became, as Pastor Garvin put it, the "second most influential man on the planet" and realized his destiny. In other words, something incredible happened between Genesis chapter 40 and Genesis chapter 41. Joseph matured in the Lord. Romans 8:28 says, "We know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose."
Sound familiar? For every 40, there is a 41.
  • God rained his judgment upon the earth for 40 days and 40 nights. On the 41st day, a rainbow appeared and God vowed never to destroy the earth again.
  • The Israelites wandered through the desert for 40 years. In year 41, they reached the Promised Land.
  • For 40 days, Goliath hammered on the armies of Israel. But on the 41st day, David showed up and slew Goliath.
  • For 40 days and nights, Jesus fasted and prayed in the wilderness. On the 41st day, Satan left Him and the angels ministered to Him (Matt. 4:11).
For every season of difficulty, there is a season of destiny. So what should you do during your season of difficulty in order to help find your season of destiny? As Pastor Garvin says:
  1. Recognize it as God's course of preparation. You need to be refined.
  2. Respond to the needs of others. Stop the "woe is me" mentality and focus on others who need help.
  3. Resist the urge to compromise. Keep your integrity and don't take shortcuts.
  4. Remain patient in the process. As Joyce Meyer says, "the longer you complain about your situation, the longer you will remain in your wilderness."
  5. Realize your "41 moment." It's coming. God wants it for you so badly.
Joseph needed wisdom and humility, and it took 13 years of tribulation to find it. I've been through a similar process. But thankfully, a good friend has prophesied over me that my time is coming, if I remain faithful to the Lord. Thank you for the good word, Kathy DeGraw.
Unlike Joseph, hopefully it won't take 13 years for you to have your rough edges sanded. But you can rest assured God knows exactly when you are ready to fulfill your destiny and He won't pull you out of your season of testing—or your 40—before He feels you are ready. Get ready to fulfill your destiny.
And as I always like to say, "there is that."
