Hassidic Rabbis will be taking part in the "Messiah’s Supper" this Passover.

On the last day of the week-long Jewish holiday, many in the Hasidic Orthodox community in Jerusalem will participate in what they are calling a Seudat Moshiach, the Messiah’s Supper.

In an event directly correlating to the Lord’s Supper recorded in the New Testament, Rabbi Amichaye Even-Israel told Israel Breaking News that this year, “The main goal of the Messiah’s Supper is to try and internalize the issue of the coming of the Messiah as real, not just a myth or a fairy tale. This is why we eat and drink while discussing this issue – to symbolize that it is real and could be digested.”

Jesus said, “Take, eat, this is my body broken for you. Do this in remembrance of me. As often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.” (I Cor. 11)

The Messiah’s Supper was instituted in the 18th century by the renowned Rabbi Baal Shem Tov (literally, Master of the Great Name). Shem Tov taught that eating the Lord’s Supper is a way to “translate intangible faith into tangible action.”

This is exactly what the Lord’s Supper means for Messianic Jews and Christians.

During the Orthodox Messiah’s Supper, the weekly portion comes from the Messianic prophecy in Chapter 11 of the Book of Isaiah: “There shall come forth a rod from the stem of Jesse, and a branch shall grow out of his roots.”

This well-known description of the Messiah tells of a time when _“the lion will lie down with the lamb,” _and there will be peace on earth. According to the Rabbis, the last day of the week long Passover holiday is to be a memorial of the redemption and the coming Messiah.

Rabbi Menachem Mendel of Lubavitch, a 19th century leader of the Chabad-Lubavitch movement, explained the connection between the first and the last days of Passover:

“The first night of Pesach is our festival commemorating our redemption from Egypt by the Holy One, Blessed be He. It was the first redemption, carried out through Moses, our teacher, who was the first redeemer; it was the beginning. The last day of Pesach is our festival commemorating the final redemption, when the Holy One, Blessed be He, will redeem us from the last exile through our righteous Messiah, who is the final redeemer. The first day of Pesach is Moses’ festival; the last day of Passover is Messiah’s feast.”

The Apostle Paul says, “For the Messiah, our Passover, was sacrificed for us. Therefore let us keep the Feast, not with old leaven of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth” (I Cor. 5:7-8).

During the final day of the Passover holiday, as Hasidic Jews sit down to a Messianic Supper, they will sing songs, eat matzah (unleavened bread) and drink four cups of wine. During the Supper participants will focus their prayers on the arrival of the Jewish Messiah, the coming Kingdom of God, and the Final Redemption for all people.

Even so, may we all join together and cry out this Passover, “Come quickly, Lord, Messiah King Yeshua.”

The Splitting of the Red Sea and the State of Israel

Jewish history consists of many epoch- making events. However, not all of these events have made an inroad into the consciousness of the Jewish people. For this to happen, the event must become, as the Jewish philosopher Emile Fackenheim calls it, a “root experience,” a moment in which the hand of God becomes most apparent through His active participation in Jewish history.

Still, this alone is not sufficient to transform an event into a root experience of enduring value. It is also necessary that the experience takes place in front of the multitude, as in the case of the splitting of the Red Sea, when “even the maidservants saw what the prophet Yehezkel ben Buzi could not see.” It is not the opening of the heavens, but rather the transformation on Earth that is decisive in affecting all future Jewish generations.

However, above and beyond all, a third element is necessary. It must be possible for later generations to have access to this vision. Only then can one speak of an actual root experience. If a vision cannot be shared with later generations, it will turn into a claim of the past and lose much of its religious value within Judaism.

IN THIS context it is most important to realize that it is not the conventional understanding of a miracle that is of importance here. While nobody will deny that the splitting of the Red Sea was a violation of the laws of nature, this is not the source of its religious power or message. The most important quality of a miracle is not that it is supernatural, or super-historical, but that it is a moment which, even when it can be argued away in terms of science and brought into the nexus of nature and normal history, remains miraculous in the eyes of the person to whom it occurred.

The real power of a miracle is that it is an astonishing experience of an event in which the current system of cause and effect becomes, as it were, transparent; permitting a glimpse of the sphere in which another unrestricted Power is at work. As such, it destroys the security of all knowledge and undoes the normalcy of all that is ordinary. It is the abiding astonishment which is crucial.

The religious person stands in wonder; no knowledge or cognition can weaken his astonishment. Any natural explanation will only deepen his wonder.

It is in this sense that a historical miracle becomes a root experience and allows later generations to have access to it through its own experience. It is possible for later generations to relive the experience, not because of what happened, but through the way it was perceived.

THE ESTABLISHMENT of the State of Israel was no doubt an epoch-making event. It is the completely astonishing nature of this event that stands out – the transformation of the earthliness of the Jewish people into a radically different situation. While miracles no doubt occurred to enable it to happen, the most important religious dimension is, again, the abiding astonishment at this event in terms that could be expected, especially after the events of the Holocaust.

Only when the establishment of the State of Israel is seen in the light of the miracle at the Red Sea will its fascination continue. And this is exactly where the greatest danger to Israel’s continued existence lies. Just as we are informed that the miracle at the Red Sea lost its religious impact on the Israelites and normalcy became the call of the day, whereby the Israelites complained that God had left them, so we see a similar component at work in today’s Israeli society and leadership.

Just as the complaints concerning food and water took on a new impetus after the great miracle at the sea, so we see a mentality of psychological denial and existential dullness in the State of Israel in which many people – but most of all its leaders – no longer understand the wonder of the State’s very existence.

Just as the Israelites in the desert paid a heavy price, so will Israeli society if it does not force itself once again to look through the clouds, see the miracle and rejuvenate itself through it.

Israeli Brewery Recreates Jesus-Era Beer From 2,000-Year-Old Recipe

Using new technology and ancient grains, an Israeli brewer has managed to recreate the beer that Jesus and his contemporaries may have enjoyed 2,000 years ago.

The project began when Itai Gutman, the owner of Herzl Brewery, read an article about geneticists in Tel Aviv who had discovered the genome of an ancient strain of wheat grown and consumed in Israel during the era of Jesus. A “light bulb” lit up, said Gutman in a video posted by ILTV Israel Daily, and he contacted the researchers right away.

“Within a few days I had several kilograms of this material, we just started to process and eventually is this beer that we’re drinking,” he said.

He brewed a five-gallon batch of the beer, and was very surprised by the results, which included notes of honey and berries.

“The flavor was surprising. This is something that we never expected. We got kind of this red fruit, kind of a raspberry flavor, and there is no fruit additions into it and it’s only because of the grains we used,” Gutman explained.

The beer also has an unusually low alcohol content of only three percent (the average brew contains between four and six percent), which may explain why wine, and not beer, was the drink of the Bible. (Wine is about four times as potent, with an alcohol content between 12 and 14 percent).

However, while beer is not mentioned in the Bible, it was certainly present in ancient Israel. Beer was very popular in neighboring Egypt, and archeological finds prove that it made its way into northwards into Canaan. In 2015, an excavation in Tel Aviv turned up Egyptian beer-making vessels over 5,000 years old.

Interestingly, the fermenting process of the ancient Egyptian beer included fruit concentrates, indicating that the fruity flavor was popular across the region in ancient times.

“The historians, they say that beer is coming from around this area of the world, from the Middle East area, Mesopotamia and what was there back then,” related Gutman. According to the theory, he continued, Romans brought the beer to Europe, leaving wine as the main alcoholic beverage of choice in Israel.

Gutman and his friends have consumed most of the batch made from the 2,000-year-old-recipe. He has no plans to bottle or sell the beer, likely because of its strange taste, though there is little doubt that many would be interested in experiencing the unique flavor of Jesus-era beer.

House Panel Proves David Daleiden Was Right

At its much-anticipated hearing Wednesday morning, the Select Panel on Infant Lives released a series of exhibits that prove beyond a doubt that Planned Parenthood has been lying to the American people about whether or not it illegally profits from trafficking aborted baby tissue and organs.

Troy Newman, president of Operation Rescue, also served as a founding board member for the Center for Medical Progress, which produced videos exposing the illegal trade. And following the Select Panel's document release, he's speaking out.

"It is clear from the documentation released by the Select Panel that money paid to Planned Parenthood in exchange for aborted baby remains qualified as illegal 'valuable consideration.' This completely validates every allegation that was put forth by investigators from the Center for Medical Progress," he said. "Planned Parenthood has engaged in an aggressive public relations campaign to convince the public that videos released by the Center for Medical Progress were 'hoaxed' and that Planned Parenthood never profited from the sale of fetal remains. Now we all can see for ourselves that this was a bold-faced lie. Planned Parenthood should be prosecuted for their crimes. They must not be held above the law."

The Select Panel exhibits were accompanied by a white paper on the pricing of fetal tissue produced by congressional staff members. The white paper explains how all of the costs of tissue procurement were absorbed by the organ procurement companies, such as Stem Express, and that Planned Parenthood essentially incurred no costs.

The documentation also shows that Planned Parenthood clinics were awarded $10,000 contract signing bonuses by one procurement company that were disguised as donations. Those bonuses were in addition to money paid for POCs—"products of conception," the term Planned Parenthood uses to dehumanize the aborted baby tissue—and blood samples.

For example, four Planned Parenthood clinics in California were paid more than $11,000 in August 2012 for 171 "POCs" and 196 blood samples harvested at their facilities. A review of a tissue procurement company's website shows a list of organs that were available for sale, including brains, hearts, livers, glands and even scalps.

The Center for Medical Progress, Operation Rescue and the Select Panel all agree these organs had to be procured from abortion facilities like Planned Parenthood.

"Now you do not have to be a lawyer to see what's going on here," Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.), Chairman of the Select Panel, said. "You put up a website that offers any baby body part imaginable—and why on earth do they need a baby scalp? Then you pick the gestation period and then check out."

Newman said the answer to Blackburn's question is "grisly."

"Tissue wasn't just being used for 'medical' research but by commercial entities for the use in the development of products for sale to the public," he said. "The male hair growth industry is a very lucrative one."

In certain Jewish circles, there is an custom to hold a Seudat Moshiach (Messiah’s Feast) on the last day of the Jewish holiday of Passover.

The Passover holiday commemorates the exodus from Egypt. At the Passover seder, Jewish people around the world recount the story of having been slaves to Pharaoh in Egypt and being redeemed by the Hand of God. In this way, the Jewish people remain connected to their past redemption.

Passover is celebrated for eight days outside the Land of Israel and seven days in Israel. Acharon shel Pesach, the last day of Passover, is associated with the Messiah – and the future redemption.

On the last day of Passover, the prophetic reading in the synagogue comes from Chapter 11 of the Book of Isaiah. This chapter describes the qualities of the Messiah and paints a picture of a future time when complete peace will be found on earth.

Rabbi Menachem Mendel of Lubavitch (known as the Tzemach Tzedek) lived in the first half of the 19th century and was the third leader of the Chabad-Lubavitch movement in Judaism. He explained the connection between the first and the last day of Passover and between the first redemption and the final redemption of the Jewish people.

“The last day of Pesach (Passover) is the conclusion of that which began on the first night of Pesach. The first night of Pesach is our festival commemorating our redemption from Egypt by the Holy One, Blessed be He. It was the first redemption, carried out through Moshe Rabbeinu (Moses, our teacher), who was the first redeemer; it was the beginning. The last day of Pesach is our festival commemorating the final redemption, when the Holy One, Blessed be He, will redeem us from the last exile through our righteous Moshiach (Messiah), who is the final redeemer. The first day of Pesach is Moshe Rabbeinu’s festival; the last day of Pesach is Moshiach’s festival.”

In the afternoon of the final day of the Passover holiday, Hasidim (Jewish followers of Hasidic rabbis), especially Chabad Lubavitch Hasidim, sit down to the Feast of the Messiah, which includes songs, matzah (unleavened bread) and four cups of wine. Additional tasty foods may be added. At a Feast of the Messiah, participants focus on the arrival of the Jewish Messiah and the era of the Final Redemption of the Jewish people.

Rabbi Amichaye Even-Israel, son of the eminent scholar and author Rabbi Adin Steinsaltz, told Breaking Israel News, “The main goal of Seudat Mashiach is to try and internalize the issue of the coming of the Mashiach (Messiah) as a ‘real’ issue and not as a myth or a fairy tale. This is why we eat and drink while discussing this issue – to symbolize that it is real and could be ‘digested’”.

Asked whether there is value in spreading the custom beyond Chabad and other Hassidim, Even-Israel said, “Of course. The faith in Mashiach by so many of us is non-realistic. Many say they do believe – but how many of us really think it’s going to happen soon?”

The Feast of the Messiah was instituted in the 18th century by the the Baal Shem Tov (literally, Master of the Great Name). The Baal Shem Tov’s given name was Rabbi Yisroel ben Eliezer. This famous mystical rabbi is considered the founder of Hasidism. Although the belief in the ultimate Redeemer of the Jewish people is a central teaching of the Jewish faith, the Baal Shem Tov created the Feast of the Messiah as a way to translate an intangible belief into a tangible action.

NOW is the Time to Awaken! Arise! Treasure Truth!

While I was waiting on the Lord, seeking to hear what was on His heart, He spoke an extremely strong word. In the most compelling and commanding tone, He said, "Contend! It is time to take a strong, unshakable stand!Restore! Reestablish! And reinstate the platform of TRUTH! Truth has fallen in the street" (see Isaiah 59:14).

This was not a suggestion, but a bold, strong, and stirring command, given with such force that it shook me deeply. In the same tone, I was told, "Sound the alarm! Awaken the warriors!"

Beloved, we are being called to contend for change that transforms our culture.

The Holy Spirit spoke to me concerning the paralyzing passivity so prevalent in the Church today. As prophetic voices, we must sound the alarm: these are not days of peace! We have no armistice with the workers of darkness! We must stir ourselves out of this stupor, as Scripture instructs us to do. We must rouse to reality and awake (see Romans 13:11-14 AMP). Run from Compromise and Complacency!

This is no time to enter negotiations with the devil. Never forget that the enemy of your soul would – if he could – utterly destroy and devastate your life, the life of your loved ones, your neighbors, and our nation (see John 10:10). We must not entertain compromise nor tolerate complacency. On the contrary, we are called to confront the powers of darkness. Rather than remaining passive, complacent, or compromised, it is our responsibility to resist the enemy and stand firm (see James 4:7). He is a defeated foe – but we nevertheless must rout him out of our lives and nation.

Run from cooperating with the enemy! Our response must be the opposite of his evil suggestions. We must withstand him and his demons with all our heart, submitting to the Spirit of God and His Word instead. Having done all to stand, we shall stand bold and brave, resisting the devil and all his schemes, knowing full well that greater is God's power within us than the devil's power about us (see 1 John 4:4).

We Are More Than Conquerors!

We are fighting from a place of victory! Why? Because our Lord and Savior has already defeated every foe at Calvary. In Christ, we are more than conquerors. We are truly, practically, eternally victorious in every arena of life – and are not victims (see Romans 8:37). Believe this, beloved. Cast off any "victim" mindset and take hold of the truth spoken by Christ as He gave His life for you: "It is finished!" He fought the war and won – on our behalf.

We will stand strong, knowing that as we resist, we are more than victors in Christ Jesus (see Romans 8:37). What we see withstanding us will not erase from our souls the victory God has promised. Let your heart gain courage from this promise in Deuteronomy 31:6:

"Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the Lord your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you."

As we stand in faith, drawing ever closer to God and resisting the devil, the enemy flees (see James 4:7). Through the power of Christ Jesus, we will trample on the evil works of satan (see Luke 10:19). As we walk in confidence, knowing our God and depending upon Christ the King, then we will see the promise of Romans 16:20 fulfilled: the God of Peace will crush the powers of satan under our feet. Never forget: Greater is HE that is within you than he that is in the world (see 1 John 4:4)! (Photo via Pixabay)

How to Contend

We are at war with the forces of Hell; however, we are not fighting alone. We are aided by the host of Heaven. We must exhort the saints to take a strong stand to contend for the true faith. The Book of Jude (Amplified) provides good guidelines for this contending:

"JUDE, A servant of Jesus Christ (the Messiah), and brother of James, [writes this letter] to those who are called (chosen), dearly loved by God the Father and separated (set apart) and kept for Jesus Christ: May mercy, [soul] peace, and love be multiplied to you.

"Beloved, my whole concern was to write to you in regard to our common salvation. [But] I found it necessary and was impelled to write you and urgently appeal to and exhort [you] to contend for the faith which was once for all handed down to the saints [the faith which is that sum of Christian belief which was delivered verbally to the holy people of God]. For certain men have crept in stealthily [gaining entrance secretly by a side door]. Their doom was predicted long ago, ungodly (impious, profane) persons who pervert the grace (the spiritual blessing and favor) of our God into lawlessness and wantonness and immorality, and disown and deny our sole Master and Lord, Jesus Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One).

"Now I want to remind you, though you were fully informed once for all, that though the Lord [at one time] delivered a people out of the land of Egypt, He subsequently destroyed those [of them] who did not believe [who refused to adhere to, trust in, and rely upon Him]. And angels who did not keep (care for, guard, and hold to) their own first place of power but abandoned their proper dwelling place – these He has reserved in custody in eternal chains (bonds) under the thick gloom of utter darkness until the judgment and doom of the great day. [The wicked are sentenced to suffer] just as Sodom and Gomorrah and the adjacent towns – which likewise gave themselves over to impurity and indulged in unnatural vice and sensual perversity – are laid out [in plain sight] as an exhibit of perpetual punishment [to warn] of everlasting fire.

"Nevertheless in like manner, these dreamers also corrupt the body, scorn and reject authority and government, and revile and libel and scoff at [heavenly] glories (the glorious ones). But when [even] the archangel Michael, contending with the devil, judicially argued (disputed) about the body of Moses, he dared not [presume to] bring an abusive condemnation against him, but [simply] said, 'The Lord rebuke you!' But these men revile (scoff and sneer at) anything they do not happen to be acquainted with and do not understand; and whatever they do understand physically [that which they know by mere instinct], like irrational beasts – by these they corrupt themselves and are destroyed (perish). Woe to them! For they have run riotously in the way of Cain, and have abandoned themselves for the sake of gain [it offers them, following] the error of Balaam, and have perished in rebellion [like that] of Korah!

"These are hidden reefs (elements of danger) in your love feasts, where they boldly feast sumptuously [carousing together in your midst], without scruples providing for themselves [alone]. They are clouds without water, swept along by the winds; trees, without fruit at the late autumn gathering time – twice (doubly) dead, [lifeless and] plucked up by the roots; wild waves of the sea, flinging up the foam of their own shame and disgrace; wandering stars, for whom the gloom of eternal darkness has been reserved forever.

"It was of these people, moreover, that Enoch in the seventh [generation] from Adam prophesied when he said, 'Behold, the Lord comes with His myriads of holy ones (ten thousands of His saints) to execute judgment upon all and to convict all the impious (unholy ones) of all their ungodly deeds which they have committed [in such an] ungodly [way], and of all the severe (abusive, jarring) things which ungodly sinners have spoken against Him.'

"These are inveterate murmurers (grumblers) who complain [of their lot in life], going after their own desires [controlled by their passions]; their talk is boastful and arrogant, [and they claim to] admire men's persons and pay people flattering compliments to gain advantage. But you must remember, beloved, the predictions which were made by the apostles (the special messengers) of our Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One). They told you beforehand, in the last days (in the end time) there will be scoffers [who seek to gratify their own unholy desires], following after their own ungodly passions. It is these who are [agitators] setting up distinctions and causing divisions – merely sensual [creatures, carnal, worldly-minded people], devoid of the [Holy] Spirit and destitute of any higher spiritual life.

"But you, beloved, build yourselves up [founded] on your most holy faith [make progress, rise like an edifice higher and higher], praying in the Holy Spirit; guard and keep yourselves in the love of God; expect and patiently wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah) – [which will bring you] unto life eternal.

"And refute [so as to] convict some who dispute with you, and on some have mercy who waver and doubt. [Strive to] save others, snatching [them] out of [the] fire; on others take pity [but] with fear, loathing even the garment spotted by the flesh and polluted by their sensuality.

"Now to Him Who is able to keep you without stumbling or slipping or falling, and to present [you] unblemished (blameless and faultless) before the presence of His glory in triumphant joy and exultation [with unspeakable, ecstatic delight] – to the one only God, our Savior through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory (splendor), majesty, might and dominion, and power and authority, before all time and now and forever (unto all the ages of eternity). Amen (so be it)."

Jude's encouragement to stand strong for truth has never been more necessary than it is today. False teaching and false teachers are multiplying at an alarming rate. We must expose their lies about loose, unrighteous living and seek the Lord for an outpouring of the Spirit of holiness and the fear of the Lord!

Put on the Armor for War

Ephesians 6:11-1 offers great advice concerning the best strategy for preparing for this conflict with the powers of darkness. Notice the very first verse: We must actively put on the entire armor provided for us by God: (Photo via Pixabay)

"Put on God's whole armor [the armor of a heavy-armed soldier which God supplies], that you may be able successfully to stand up against [all] the strategies and the deceits of the devil. For we are not wrestling with flesh and blood [contending only with physical opponents], but against the despotisms, against the powers, against [the master spirits who are] the world rulers of this present darkness, against the spirit forces of wickedness in the heavenly (supernatural) sphere.

"Therefore put on God's complete armor, that you may be able to resist and stand your ground on the evil day [of danger], and, having done all [the crisis demands], to stand [firmly in your place].

"Stand therefore [hold your ground], having tightened the belt of truth around your loins and having put on the breastplate of integrity and of moral rectitude and right standing with God, and having shod your feet in preparation [to face the enemy with the firm-footed stability, the promptness, and the readiness produced by the good news] of the Gospel of peace. Lift up over all the [covering] shield of saving faith, upon which you can quench all the flaming missiles of the wicked [one]. And take the helmet of salvation and the sword that the Spirit wields, which is the Word of God.

"Pray at all times (on every occasion, in every season) in the Spirit, with all [manner of] prayer and entreaty. To that end keep alert and watch with strong purpose and perseverance, interceding in behalf of all the saints (God's consecrated people)."

Be bold, be brave, be very courageous! You are called to a victorious overcomer, to be aggressive in our stand against the kingdoms of darkness (see Joshua 1:9). God has given us bold authority to bind the works of satan (see Matthew 16:18-19).

Christ Jesus states we must take a bold stand against the works of darkness if we are going to see the Kingdom of God advance: "And from the days of John the Baptist until the present time, the Kingdom of Heaven has endured violent assault, and violent men seize it by force [as a precious prize – a share in the Heavenly Kingdom is sought with most ardent zeal and intense exertion]"(Matthew 11:12 AMP).

Take a Stand – Now!

I repeat: This is a time of confrontation and conflict. Resolve in your heart that you will neither compromise nor retreat, you are going to exhibit bravery and boldness (see Joshua 1:9). Lift your head high and resolve that you, personally – empowered by the Holy Spirit and more than a conqueror – are going to make a difference in your generation. Now is the time to give our very best for the establishing of the Kingdom of God (see 2 Corinthians 6:2). Now is the time to hold nothing back! Make this hour your finest hour – to "win for the Lamb the reward of His suffering"!(Photo via Pixabay)
