New Operation Rescue Video Offers a Look at the Life-and-Death Reality of Abortion
With the Senate about to consider a bill from the House of Representatives that would end the requirement that states provide Title X family planning grant funds to Planned Parenthood and other abortionists, Operation Rescue has released a new video that adds to the urgency of the matter.
In the video, the pro-life organization reports that 18 ambulances that have responded to Planned Parenthood abortion facilities over the past year to transport patients suffering medical emergencies to local emergency rooms. It also contains a clip from a tragic 911 call involving a patient death, along with documentation that the woman's fatal abortion took place at a Planned Parenthood abortion facility in Michigan.
The video reinforces what many already know about abortion: It's not safe. Complications include life-threatening hemorrhages, severe pain and seizures. Meanwhile, Planned Parenthood continues to receive more than $500 million a year in government funding.
"We understand that the incidents shown in the video represent just a fraction of life-threatening abortion complications that women experience because of Planned Parenthood," Operation Rescue President Troy Newman said. "If they want to maim and kill women along with their babies—something the majority of Americans find abhorrent—it certainly shouldn't be done with the blessing of our hard-earned tax dollars."
The bill approved in the House and now being considered in the Senate Republican would allow states to reallocate Title X funds to only women's health programs that do not supply abortions. In many states, doing so has brought those services closer to home for low-income women.
A vote in the Senate could come as early as next week. Operation Rescue is urging Christians to contact their elected representatives in Washington, D.C., to tell them to get the measure on President Donald Trump's desk as soon as possible.

Norma McCorvey, the "Jane Roe" of the infamous Roe v. Wade case—Henry Wade was District Attorney in Dallas, TX at the time—that decriminalized the killing of pre-born babies (and with its companion case, Doe v. Bolton, allowed the killing to continue right through the third trimester), died Saturday, Feb. 18, 2017, at age 69.
It has been often noted that this case was built on a lie. Equally well known is the fact that McCorvey felt very "used" by the radical feminists at whose urging she was thrust into the national limelight. She would later explain that she never actually had an abortion and admitted the case was the "biggest mistake of her life."
But there is more—much more—to the story. And that is McCorvey's first encounter with Christians after her conversion.
History will remember her as "Jane Roe." But eternity will forever know her as Norma McCorvey, a child of God. Why? Because she made a commitment to Christ more than two decades ago. While that fact is fairly well known, I would like to shed some additional light on her conversion and the first few days after that.
McCorvey worked in Dallas out of a pro-abortion office. Pastor Flip Benham, leader of Operation Rescue Dallas at the time, worked nearby in a pro-life office. Through that, McCorvey met Flip. Although they were polar opposites on the abortion issue, Flip demonstrated the love of Christ to her.
Flip was then and still is one of the greatest preacher/prophets in America. He is likely one of the boldest, most courageous persons I have ever met. He is fearless. But he is tender and loving. His Bible is worn out by its constant use, and he pleads with fellow Christians to read it through a minimum of once a year. His celebrity sons—Jason and David (known for being cut from a national TV show for their stand for traditional, biblical marriage)—have followed their dad as a role model and have read the entire Bible through a minimum of once a year since they were young teens.
McCorvey was stunned at Flip's gentle, Christ-like love. She thought pro-lifers were, in accordance with pro-abortion reports, hateful and mean. What she encountered was the love of Jesus. Flip—who always carries a big Bible—began tenderly to share the Word with her. As a result, she received Jesus as Savior for her sins and became "a new creature" in the summer of 1995 and was baptized Aug. 8.
Flip had been a Free Methodist (not to be confused with the liberal United Methodist denomination) pastor, but he was not at that time pastoring a church. Since Flip and I were extremely close friends, he invited McCorvey to the church I was pastoring.
The first church she attended—just a few days after she became a believer—was Metroplex Chapel (Church of the Nazarene), located in Euless, Texas, in the heart of the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area.
But what happened that day was almost as profound as her conversion. She was afraid to come to the church as she did not know how Christians might respond to her, given her identification with abortion. She arrived at the church building but was too fearful to come in. She drove around the parking lot several times trying to get the courage to get out of her car. She was afraid of what people might say to her or even do to her.
Finally, she saw Flip standing on the church steps looking for her. She trusted him, so she parked her car and came to Flip. He escorted her into the church. She sat with Flip during the service. I still recall exactly where they sat that Sunday, off to my left from my view from the platform, about two-thirds of the way to the back of the church.
With her and Flip's permission, I introduced her at the end of the service, telling the congregation that "Jane Roe" of Roe v. Wade had come to Christ and had experienced forgiveness for her sins. I explained that she was present in the auditorium. I asked her to stand. She did. The crowd erupted in an extended standing ovation. McCorvey was shocked. She did not expect that.
After the service ended, nearly the entire church congregation formed an extremely long line to give her a hug and welcome her into the family of God. It was a profoundly moving and tender moment. Norma McCorvey, the "Jane Roe" of the infamous Roe v. Wade case had not only experienced the love and forgiveness of Jesus. She had now experienced the love and forgiveness of the body of Christ—the church. It was an exhilarating day for us all.
McCorvey would later say in a television ad, "You read about me in history books, but now I am dedicated to spreading the truth about preserving the dignity of all human life from natural conception to natural death."
During the first half of her life, she was on the wrong side of history. But that changed when she repented of her sins. She joined "the right side of history." But more importantly, she now enjoys the right side of eternity.

According to a new report from Operation Rescue, in 2016, America experienced the largest attempt to expand abortion since the 1980s—and it failed.
In a statement accompanying the report, Operation Rescue states that closures of abortion facilities compensated for the new opens, leaving the number of facilities operating in the U.S. essentially unchanged from 2015. This despite the best efforts of the "Abortion Carel" in a year "characterized by conditions that favored" expansion.
The statement continues:
Operation Rescue has released an informative report that includes the most accurate numbers of medication and surgical abortion facilities in the U.S. and how those numbers have changed since 2009, the first year Operation Rescue began to document the number and type of abortion facilities.
Other findings include:
A total of 31 abortion facilities permanently closed in 18 states in 2016.
The average cost of a first trimester surgical abortion has increased 5 percent over last year's average.
The average cost of a medication abortion has increased 3 percent at facilities that provide only that type of abortion. This is despite the relaxing of FDA protocols that make abortion drugs easier for abortion facilities to dispense.
There are 31 abortion facilities that continue to offer Methotrexate injections to cause abortions, even though it has a 33 percent failure rate and poses more dangers to women than other methods. The motive for risking patients' lives with this drug is profit-driven.
Evidence of price-gouging for medication abortions has surfaced in California, where the average cost increased a whopping 13 percent over last year's state average—even though a new state law made it less expensive to dispense abortion drugs.
Operation Rescue's exclusive report details conditions that favored abortion expansion and the reversal of fortunes that promises to make this year's static abortion facility numbers an anomaly in a national trend that has seen a dramatic 76 percent decrease in surgical abortion facilities since 1991.
"The political pendulum has swung our way, and we plan to work very hard to take advantage of this opportunity to immediately call for enforcement of laws that will shut down abortion facilities and save lives," Operation Rescue President Troy Newman said. "I believe this dramatic reversal of fortunes will pave the way for the eventual end to abortion in our country. There is now no excuse for failure."

Shortly after the official announcement that U.S. Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.) had been offered and accepted the nomination to be attorney general in the Trump administration, Operation Rescue President Troy Newman offered his congratulations.
"We could not be happier about the selection of Sen. Jeff Sessions as the next Attorney General," he said. "I have worked on projects with Sen. Sessions in the past and know him to be an experienced prosecutor and a principled pro-life advocate with a reputation for honesty."
And then he offered even more.
In an additional press release, Planned Parenthood pledged its assistance to the Department of Justice in prosecuting crimes committed by the abortionists. This "multitude of felonies committed over the past several years under the protection of the Obama administration" includes:
Illegal profiteering from the sale of aborted baby remains.
HIPAA violations.
Fraudulent over-billing of Medicaid and other government programs.
Covering up sex abuse perpetrated by abortion clinic staff.
"Planned Parenthood's days of running amok over the laws of the land are nearly over," Newman said. "A new sheriff is coming to town and the era of old corrupt politicians who have shielded Planned Parenthood from the consequences of their illegal behavior is about to come to an end. Our message to Planned Parenthood today is: You are no longer above the law."

Following Sunday's second presidential debate between Republican Donald Trump and Democrat Hillary Clinton, Operation Rescue issued the following statement.
Despite the gutter-level attempt by the Clinton campaign and its cohorts to smear Republican candidate Donald Trump hours before the debate, last night's town hall discussion delineated clear differences across a broad spectrum of issues that make Trump the best choice on Election Day.
"Trump hit it out of the park last night in exposing Hillary Clinton's radical leftist positions that will further contribute to the decline of America," said Troy Newman, President of Operation Rescue, who has endorsed the Trump/Pence ticket.
"But the most important matter to those of us who work to save lives from abortion was his emphasis of his intended Supreme Court picks. Trump promises to select strong conservative pro-life nominees to the nation's highest court, while Clinton vows to pick judicial activists that will support and expand abortion while dismantling the very fabric of American society."
The news media and establishment Republicans went on the attack against Trump after an 11-year old recording was released showing Trump engaged in "locker-room" talk that was demeaning to women. Trump immediately apologized for that "foolish" language both before and during the debate.
However, what went unspoken during last night's debate is Clinton's partnership with Planned Parenthood, which is perhaps the largest abuser of women in the U.S.
Operation Rescue has documentation to prove that Planned Parenthood and the rest of the Abortion Cartel, which are unilaterally supported and promoted by Clinton, exploits and hurts women several ways, including:
Engaging in substandard conditions and practices that put the lives and health of women at risk. Such appalling practices include failure on a broad scale to properly sterilize surgical instruments or provide staff that is qualified to conduct medical tasks.
Failure to provide adequate continuity of care in the event of medical emergencies.
Killing women through negligent abortions, including most recently Cree Erwin, who died on July 3, 2016, after an abortion at a Planned Parenthood facility in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
"It is clear that the biggest abusers of women are Hillary Clinton's friends in the Abortion Cartel. If she is elected, women will suffer even more," said Cheryl Sullenger, Senior Vice President of Operation Rescue. "And that is not to mention the accusations of sexual misconduct against her husband, Bill, that Hillary helped cover up, or the fact that she would support tax-funding of abortion on an unprecedented scale."
"For me, the choice on November 8 is clear. The Trump/Pence ticket will act to protect innocent lives, while Clinton will work to destroy them," said Newman. "Please join us in voting for Donald Trump for President, for the sake of innocent babies and the sake of our nation."

Troy Newman of Operation Rescue says the evidence released Wednesday by the Select Panel on Infant Lives proves beyond a shadow of doubt that Planned Parenthood has profited illegally from the trafficking of aborted baby tissue and organs. (Submitted photo)
House Panel Proves David Daleiden Was Right
At its much-anticipated hearing Wednesday morning, the Select Panel on Infant Lives released a series of exhibits that prove beyond a doubt that Planned Parenthood has been lying to the American people about whether or not it illegally profits from trafficking aborted baby tissue and organs.
Troy Newman, president of Operation Rescue, also served as a founding board member for the Center for Medical Progress, which produced videos exposing the illegal trade. And following the Select Panel's document release, he's speaking out.
"It is clear from the documentation released by the Select Panel that money paid to Planned Parenthood in exchange for aborted baby remains qualified as illegal 'valuable consideration.' This completely validates every allegation that was put forth by investigators from the Center for Medical Progress," he said. "Planned Parenthood has engaged in an aggressive public relations campaign to convince the public that videos released by the Center for Medical Progress were 'hoaxed' and that Planned Parenthood never profited from the sale of fetal remains. Now we all can see for ourselves that this was a bold-faced lie. Planned Parenthood should be prosecuted for their crimes. They must not be held above the law."
The Select Panel exhibits were accompanied by a white paper on the pricing of fetal tissue produced by congressional staff members. The white paper explains how all of the costs of tissue procurement were absorbed by the organ procurement companies, such as Stem Express, and that Planned Parenthood essentially incurred no costs.
The documentation also shows that Planned Parenthood clinics were awarded $10,000 contract signing bonuses by one procurement company that were disguised as donations. Those bonuses were in addition to money paid for POCs—"products of conception," the term Planned Parenthood uses to dehumanize the aborted baby tissue—and blood samples.
For example, four Planned Parenthood clinics in California were paid more than $11,000 in August 2012 for 171 "POCs" and 196 blood samples harvested at their facilities. A review of a tissue procurement company's website shows a list of organs that were available for sale, including brains, hearts, livers, glands and even scalps.
The Center for Medical Progress, Operation Rescue and the Select Panel all agree these organs had to be procured from abortion facilities like Planned Parenthood.
"Now you do not have to be a lawyer to see what's going on here," Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.), Chairman of the Select Panel, said. "You put up a website that offers any baby body part imaginable—and why on earth do they need a baby scalp? Then you pick the gestation period and then check out."
Newman said the answer to Blackburn's question is "grisly."
"Tissue wasn't just being used for 'medical' research but by commercial entities for the use in the development of products for sale to the public," he said. "The male hair growth industry is a very lucrative one."

The Center for Medical Progress has released a new video detailing how Planned Parenthood used bogus line-item entries to hide profits from the sale of aborted baby remains.
The video focuses on invoices obtained by Operation Rescue's Texas attorney Briscoe Cain through Freedom of Information Act requests, and it connects the dots to Planned Parenthood's duplicitous book-keeping scheme with clips from the CMP's undercover investigation at the Houston Planned Parenthood, one of the largest volume late-term abortion facilities in the country.
"The invoices clearly show how Planned Parenthood padded invoices in such a way as to hide the fact they were making illegal profits," said Operation Rescue Senior Vice President Cheryl Sullenger. "This is not only hard evidence that Planned Parenthood broke the law, but also shows that The Harris County grand jury indicted the wrong people."
A Harris County Grand Jury recently indicted CMP leader David Daleiden and his associate, Susan Merritt, who conducted the on-site undercover sting in Houston. While the same grand jury is said to have "cleared" Planned Parenthood, Operation Rescue has uncovered evidence that bias in the office of District Attorney Devon Anderson tainted the process and turned the investigation against the whistle-blowers who reported evidence of Planned Parenthood's obvious criminal conduct.
Daleiden and Merritt will turn themselves in at the Harris County Courthouse on Thursday when a press conference by national leaders will present over 100,000 signatures calling on Anderson to drop the charges against Daleiden and Merritt.
Operation Rescue President Troy Newman served as a founding Board Member for the Center for Medical Progress. He, along with Daleiden and others, have been sued in a San Francisco Federal Court by Planned Parenthood and the National Abortion Federation, who are attempting to use the courts to silence the evidence against them and deflect public attention from their own wrongdoing.
"We call on District Attorney Devon Anderson to resign due to her inability to conduct her duties without bias," said Sullenger. "We also call for all charges to be dropped against Daleiden and Merritt and for special prosecutors to reopen the Planned Parenthood and Karpen cases."
Houston abortionist Douglas Karpen was accused by former employees of murdering babies who were born alive during late-term abortions, but was "cleared" by another Anderson grand jury in 2013. Karpen was represented by attorney Chip Lewis, who is a personal friend of Anderson's and is her largest political donor. Lewis recently indicated he has improper inside knowledge of both grand juries.
