Today's Israel Inspiration

It is the way of the nation of Israel to live with "hope for the future" as taught by Jeremiah in today's verse. A feeling of hope is so vital to living a spiritual and fulfilling life here in the Holy Land that an aptly named Israeli non-profit, TikvahHope, is determined to infuse hope into the hearts of children from impoverished homes all around Israel. With enriching after-school programs and hot meals, TikvahHope gives Israeli children and their struggling families a chance to break out of the cycle of poverty.

Sterling Silver Jerusalem Kiddush Cup

It is tradition for Jews to recite holiday, Sabbath and wedding blessings over a cup of wine. On the Sabbath, the designated cup for the blessing over the wine is meant to be a beautiful vessel. This specific Kiddush cup has a motif of Jerusalem, Judaism's holiest city, where the Temple stood. Made of Sterling silver, and wrapped with a band inscribed twice with the word Jerusalem.

Getting God's Dream - KINSEY THURLOW CHARISMA MAGAZINE

When God asks you to lay down your dream, here's what He may be doing.

Getting God's Dream

When God asks you to lay down your dream, here's what He may be doing. (Charisma archives)

Spirit-Led Woman
Often, when people stare at a crisis, our thoughts seem more quickly inclined to Let's Do, instead of Let's Pray.
"Okay. The prayer thing, but we need to do something."
We are so eager to do something (and just for the record, I absolutely believe that we should do something). But in our eagerness to act, prayer is often put on the back burner or shoved to the side, while it actually needs to be our very foundation and the fire that is fueling our every move.
We cannot underestimate the importance of prayer's centrality.
A little over 10 years ago, I had some stirrings arise in my heart for orphaned children. So I acted on this interest and interned with an adoption agency one summer between college semesters. With a small group of other Americans, I traveled to Russia and spent about a month ministering to the nation's fatherless, living in their orphanages with them. I was with the children hours each day—eating with them, talking with them, playing games with them.
After the time spent in Russia, I had the urge to relocate somewhere overseas and work among the orphaned. These children had impacted my heart in a life-defining way. I could not imagine going back to "life as usual."
But. But sometimes God has a different course than the one we had in mind for ourselves.
The fourth summer I went to Russia, I felt from the Lord that it was the last time. I didn't know if that meant the last time for a while or the last time forever, but I knew when I said goodbye to the children that summer, these who I had come to know and love so much, that I wouldn't be seeing them again, at least in this age. I throbbed inside, wanting to understand the Lord's leadership, but not understanding.
I came back to Kansas City, with the desire to minister to the fatherless so strong in my heart. But there was no orphan ministry around, at least that I knew of. My heart wrestled, having no outlet for the burden that was burning inside of me.
But I remember a defining moment with the Lord that ultimately altered the trajectory of my life and ministry.
I longed to be among the orphaned—and God said to me, so clearly, "Kinsey, let it go, and let Me hold that dream."
I didn't know what to do with that. How could I let it go?
So, still aching within, I threw Him my rebuttal. "But Lord, what about the orphans?" His response didn't seem to answer my question at the time.
"I want you to pray," my heart heard Him whisper.
And well, having no other known outlets to serve these children, I began to pray. Like I never had before. Some days if felt rote and unexciting, and on other days God brought me to holy tears wept over their lives. I filled journals with prayers for these kids.
And as I prayed consistently, God began giving me a very precious gift.
He started releasing to me His burden and His heart for the fatherless.
It was bigger than what I had felt before. Much bigger.
Though I'd been ready to move across the ocean and leave all the familiars of life—what I felt now was bigger still.
The burden began to grow in my heart to such an extent that I was tempted to say at times, "Lord, I can't take anymore."
But rather than making this my prayer, someone wisely counseled me to instead pray, "Lord expand my heart's capacity to hold all that You want to give me."
The Lord called me away to pray, and something beautiful happened. When I really began to enter into that place of prayer, the Father of the fatherless drew me into His heart and began to give me a deeper taste of what He feels for a fatherless generation of children. It was something greater than I could have imagined, something beyond what I could have ever produced in myself—something that could only be found in prayer.
A gift found within a gift.
There in the gift of simple intimacy with my Father, I met Him heart to heart, felt Him weep and let His tears overflow into me, becoming mine. And His love for me, for them, overwhelmed me.
I see now what I didn't see those years ago. My vision will ever remain too small and my ability to bring true justice hindered unless the effort to minister to the fatherless is born out of an intimate prayer partnership with Jesus.
And so we pray, while also asking for abundant grace to put action to our prayers.
God wants to do something beyond our own ability. He wants to impart to us the depths of His own heart, to find those who will be a resting place for His emotions, and to release through us a movement of justice fueled by the power of His own Spirit.
Who cares about these children more than any of us do? Who is the only One who has the power to restore a broken story and heal a shattered heart? Who is He who has taken the highest seat in all of creation, who is enthroned in the heavens, and who has called Himself a Father to the fatherless?
We want to intimately connect with the heart of our God, our Father, our Friend over these children. We actually want to talk to Him, to closely engage His heart.
So for these 40 weeks, we're leaning in. We're asking Him to bring us into His precious burden for the orphaned. We asking Him to share dreams in His heart that we have yet to conceive.
What does He want to do? In our nation? In this fatherless generation? In our churches? In our families? In our hearts?
What are the desires of God's heart?
Come up close. Listen. Pray. And dream big with God.

A New Digital Cash System Was Just Unveiled At A Secret Meeting For Bankers In New York - Michael Snyder THE ECONOMIC COLLAPSE BLOG

Secret - Public Domain

Posted: 02 May 2016   Michael Snyder  THE ECONOMIC COLLAPSE BLOG

Last month, a “secret meeting” that involved more than 100 executives from some of the biggest financial institutions in the United States was held in New York City.  During this “secret meeting“, a company known as “Chain” unveiled a technology that transforms U.S. dollars into “pure digital assets”.  Reportedly, there were representatives from Nasdaq, Citigroup, Visa, Fidelity, Fiserv and Pfizer in the room, and Chain also claims to be partnering with Capital One, State Street, and First Data.

This “revolutionary” technology is intended to completely change the way that we use money, and it would represent a major step toward a cashless society.  But if this new digital cash system is going to be so good for society, why was it unveiled during a secret meeting for Wall Street bankers?  Is there something more going on here than we are being told?

None of us probably would have ever heard about this secret meeting if it was not for a report in Bloomberg.  The following comes from their article entitled “Inside the Secret Meeting Where Wall Street Tested Digital Cash“…
On a recent Monday in April, more than 100 executives from some of the world’s largest financial institutions gathered for a private meeting at the Times Square office of Nasdaq Inc. They weren’t there to just talk about blockchain, the new technology some predict will transform finance, but to build and experiment with the software.
By the end of the day, they had seen something revolutionary: U.S. dollars transformed into pure digital assets, able to be used to execute and settle a trade instantly. That’s the promise of a blockchain, where the cumbersome and error-prone system that takes days to move money across town or around the world is replaced with almost instant certainty.
So it is not just Michael Snyder from The Economic Collapse Blog that is referring to this gathering as a “secret meeting”.  This is actually how it was described by Bloomberg.  And I think that there is a very good reason why this meeting was held in secret, because many in the general public would definitely be alarmed by this giant step toward a cashless society.  Here is more on this new system from Bloomberg
While cash in a bank account moves electronically all the time today, there’s a distinction between that system and what it means to say money is digital. Electronic payments are really just messages that cash needs to move from one account to another, and this reconciliation is what adds time to the payments process. For customers, moving money between accounts can take days as banks wait for confirmations. Digital dollars, however, are pre-loaded into a system like a blockchain. From there, they can be swapped immediately for an asset.
“Instead of a record or message being moved, it’s the actual asset,” Ludwin said. “The payment and the settlement become the same thing.”
Why this is so alarming is because we are seeing other major moves toward a cashless system all over the planet.  In Sweden, 95 percent of all retail transactions are already cashless, and ATM machines are being removed by the hundreds.  In Denmark, government officials actually have a stated goal of “eradicating cash” by the year 2030.  And in Norway, the biggest bank in the country has publicly called for the complete elimination of all cash.

Other nations in Europe have already banned cash transactions over a certain amount. Here are just a couple of examples
As I have written about previously, cash transactions of more than 2,500 euros have already been banned in Spain, and France and Italy have both banned all cash transactions of more than 1,000 euros.
Little by little, cash is being eradicated, and what we have seen so far is just the beginning. 417 billion cashless transactions were conducted in 2014, and the final number for 2015 is projected to be much higher.
The global push toward a cashless society is only going to intensify, because banks and governments both tend to really like the idea of such a system.

Banks really like the concept of a cashless society because it would force everyone to be their customers.  There would be no more hiding cash in a mattress at home or trying to pay all of your bills with paper money.  Under a cashless system, we would all be dependent on the banks, and they would make lots of money whenever we swiped our cards or our “chips” were scanned.

Governments see a lot of advantages in a cashless society as well.  They tell us that they would be able to crack down on drug dealers, tax evaders, terrorists and money launderers, but the truth is that it would enable them to watch, track, monitor and control virtually all of our financial transactions.  Our lives would become open books to the government, and financial privacy would be a thing of the past.

In addition, the potential for tyranny would be absolutely off the charts.

Just imagine a world where the government could serve as the gatekeeper for who is allowed to use the cashless system and who is not.  They could require that we all submit to some sort of government-issued form of identification before being permitted to operate within the system, or it is even conceivable that a loyalty oath would be required.
Of course if you did not submit to their demands, you could not buy, sell, open a bank account or get a job without access to the cashless system.

Hopefully people can understand where this is going.  Paper money is a very important component of our freedom, and if it is taken away from us that will open the door for all sorts of abuse.

Even now, cash is slowly being “criminalized” in America.  For example, if cash is used to pay for a hotel room that is considered by federal authorities to be “suspicious activity” that should be reported to the government.  Of course it isn’t against the law to pay your hotel bill in cash just yet, but according to the government it is something that “terrorists” do so it needs to be closely watched.

It doesn’t take a whole lot of imagination to see where all of this is going.  And for those of us that understand what time it is, this is a clear indication that it is getting late in the game.

COMMUNITY BUILDERS - Morris E. Ruddick

COMMUNITY BUILDERS

Jewish wisdom states that there is nothing new under the sun. This insight suggests that clues and answers are available to be found in history.

In a world wrought by turmoil and uncertainty, history has shown the Jewish people to be survivors. Civilizations have come and gone. The Jews have endured. The Jewish people have been contributors to the societies in which they've been a part. In unlocking Jewish business secrets we've discovered insights into the dynamics of a people whose destiny seems beyond the scope of the cultures no longer around.

It has been as they have operated together in community that the most significant strategies have influenced not just the communities around them but the civilizations of which they have been a part.

It has been the employment of the model operated by Abraham that combines the spiritual, the economic and community working together that they have achieved accomplishments outperforming in impact most other peoples of the earth. One of the most basic of these strategies, designed to build community from within, is also foundational to the impact they have made on history. It is designed to build community builders.

During one of my entrepreneurial workshops in Eastern Europe this strategy was implemented. It involved fifteen people. The average salary in this nation was $80 to $100 a month. A person willing to risk starting their own business could readily double or triple the accepted salaries. Three of the new members of this group already operated their own small businesses. The rest wanted to start one. The group met to pray for one another and help one another become successful.

In only two years, the three existing business owners had quadrupled the earnings they had at the start of the group. However, there now were twelve businesses, each growing and providing for the families of their owners. This group became a lifeline spiritually and in practical matters it helped its members grow professionally and for the group to serve as a mini-business incubator. It represents a means by which community nurtures and takes care of its own. I'm going to outline more detail of this strategy, but first let's talk a bit more about the dynamic of community and community builders.

Community Addresses the Realities
The world is searching for a people who will demonstrate the reality of God operating in their midst. More than two-thirds of the world today has little to no middle class and lives on less than two dollars (US) a day.

It has been written to do good to all, but especially to the household of faith. God told Abraham that all the peoples of the earth would be blessed by his descendents. This is exactly the way it has played out over the centuries. The descendants of Abraham have been blessed to be a blessing. It's their spiritual DNA. This is trickle-down blessings that address the realities. As a single illustration among many, in recent natural disasters the first responders again and again have come from Israel.

We've discussed the foundations embraced and shared by Jews. When the foundations are stable then community will grow and prosper. Its members adhere to the responsibility of being community builders.

Community builders advance the importance of the spiritual as the community response is to fear the Lord and honor His ways by putting them into practice. Community builders are generous and help those in need. They embrace their duties as members of the community. They provide an entrepreneurial orientation in working toward the goal of self-sufficiency in the community.

Trust is vital in the community as its members seek to benefit others. This requires integrity of each member. It is a trust society. Community builders promote the work ethic. By giving each a purpose and passion for their talents, they provide for a future that benefits all. Community builders nurture opportunity and take calculated risks that will foster innovation to bring increase and serve others.

Community Builder Mind-Sets
Community builders are big-picture thinkers. They foresee future alternatives and opportunity, but never lose sight of the importance of community building and making a viable pathway for posterity.

Community builders understand that spiritual and social capital often have more enduring importance than financial capital. It involves tapping into the unseen world and anticipating the changes and the future. Community builders employ this mind-set in planning. They know what it means to operationally make the Lord their Senior Partner in both the community and economic endeavors of those comprising the community.

In one of the areas in which we've conducted our entrepreneurial program, we met with a group of entrepreneurs who also were pastors. It was to their credit that their influence in their communities was enhanced by the micro-businesses they each managed.

In each case, the operation of their businesses only required on average two to three hours a day allowing them to devote the rest of their time to their flock. These small businesses provided much needed additional income in a challenging economic environment, while expanding the sphere of those they knew in the community.

They met regularly to pray for one another and to encourage and advise each other in both the enterprises and pastoral roles they were stewarding. They served as community builders.

Community builders are opportunity enablers. They play an important role in the success of other community members. They groom the next generation and nurture their talents, imparting wisdom that connects generations and marks their identity as a people.

Entrepreneurial thinking undergirds the process of creativity and innovation. The discovery of opportunity is blended with the goal of serving and shaping society with their output. Advancements in society, technology and business are ever at the forefront of the community builder mind-set.

It is a part of the heritage to serve as good stewards of the gifts with which Jews have been entrusted. Yet, as a people, they have never lost touch with their foundations, what makes them distinctive in their identities in the world, as a prophetic people of God.

As such, they are a people of destiny, whose leadership mantle is to build and bring increase. The Jewish role of community builders is as a society of leaders. Community builders lead by serving. It is a higher standard shared and upheld by the community.

This community dynamic is the catalyst and reason, from one generation to another, that Jews have achieved disproportionate success.

The Strategy to Unlock Destiny
It is the simple things that confound the wise. It is the narrow path of the corridor connecting the seen world and the unseen world. One of the means of harnessing these elements of community has involved a strategy that Jews have employed for hundreds of years. Whenever ten Jews live within walking distance of one another, they form a minyan. The minyan serves two primary purposes. First is to pray and seek God. Second is to help each other become more successful. It represents the foundation in establishing a community.

We have employed and adapted this strategy with our program in diverse cultural settings. It can operate with as few as five or six members. When the numbers exceed 15 or so, it is time to divide the group and start another one. Those leading these minyan groups are selected based on two main criteria. First, they are spiritually mature and second they have a track record of success in business ownership.

Minyans as Business Incubators
Again, these are groups of people who have or want to start their own business. It provides regular opportunity to pray and seek God and to help each other become successful. It is a means for the members to be mentored and grow spiritually, while providing opportunity to birth new businesses.

The groups should meet at least twice a month with not more than two hours allotted for each meeting. If time frames are not set then attendance will wane and commitment will be eroded. It involves a commitment among its members. Understanding that promptness sometimes has cultural challenges, members of the group should make effort to arrive on time and the group should start on time.

The first hour is devoted to prayer. Each member should bring four to five written one-sentence prayer requests concerning the operation or plans for their business or the business they want to start. The leader of the group should collect these prayer requests and then redistribute them.

Going around the room, each person is given the opportunity to pray, out loud, for the business-related prayer requests of one of the others of those attending. This not only garners effective prayer for the participants, but it gives each the opportunity to become comfortable and effective in praying in a group setting.

The second hour should be focused on mentoring. At the discretion of the leader, it can involve a topic of business or it can focus on two to three individuals who share something in common with their businesses. It is written that iron sharpens iron, so a man sharpens the countenance and expertise of another. This is the time in which expertise can be shared, questions asked and members encouraged in the ways needed to make God their Senior Partner.

These groups will be comprised of people of various talents. Some will have expertise in promotions, others in accounting. It represents a safe place and means by which members can gain insight from the experience and expertise of other members. Again, the goal is to help each other become successful, while growing spiritually.

As these groups meet and engage in this way, trust will be fostered and important business decisions and steps will be prayed for. The interactions and process will encourage discipline and accountability.

Starting Something New
When the minyan strategy is working as it should, it enhances the success of new startups. We encourage those we work with to start small even when the vision is big. It is written that little by little will you possess the land. It is better to walk before you run. When I started my first business I was eager. However, there was a gap in my experience that distorted issues such as timing. This is typical of new startups.

This is why it is important to have two to three wise mentors, experienced in such things, along with a minyan support group to bring wisdom to the process.

Starting something new will involve changing the order of things. That means understanding the factor of timing. I've already stated that timing is often the hardest arena to accurately discern when seeking God. When you are eager, as I was, things tend to take longer than you expect. That means that if you have invested everything you have into the effort that you need a contingency, in case things don't happen as fast as you envision.

At the forefront of the reasons that new startups fail is the lack of planning, the lack of good accounting and the lack of good advice. In my case, it took longer than I expected. But I refused to give up. I set up meetings to give presentations in three key cities with the offices of firms in my industry. I got in front of people and boldly shared my expertise, but in a way that was practical to their needs. But the path to first contracts took time. Jewish wisdom suggests that you cast your bread upon the waters and it will return in due season. I did. It still didn't happen as quickly as I envisioned.

Perseverance is a vital attribute in this process. That also is why it is important to start small and keep your overhead minimized until the cash flow is released. I didn't have a minyan group when I started my company. It would have helped a lot. Then came a time when things began to turn. The contracts began being approved and the wisdom needed at that stage was in pacing the growth. I became quite active in a number of community and professional organizations. There came a shift as I was becoming a community builder, a person of influence.

Minyans for Community Building
Whereas the primary purpose of minyan groups is to provide the first step toward building community builders, the small group dynamic can become a vital part of strengthening entrepreneurial members once the community is established.

After my business became stable, I became a part of just such a group. At a point where my business had grown to have offices in two US cities and was doing business with respected multinational firms, a group of like-minded business owners began meeting regularly. We met for prayer and to support one another in our respective and sometimes overlapping activities in the marketplace.

Within the group was the president of a bank, the president of the largest advertising firm in our state, the president of a large regional printing company and the former president of one of our city's largest manufacturers. There were others, but each one sensed a strong call of God on their lives. Each was a game-changer. Each in their own way was intent on understanding God's heart and more strategically advancing the calling of God in the marketplace. We each were reaching for that "something more" that only God could provide.

This came at a time when the parachurch movement was gaining traction, but those in the marketplace still primarily served a role of giving their testimonies and serving on church boards. There were several key initiatives that were the focus of our prayer and strategy sessions. The time frame was the early 1980s.

There was a private city-wide, non-denominational school being started. There also was a new type of bank underway. Some of us were involved in advancing the gathering of intercessory leaders in well-promoted meetings at some key locations around the U.S. It was a part of some timely, positive spiritual momentum underway in our nation. There was more, but you get the idea. It was proactive community-building.

It is when God's people operate together to create an environment of opportunity that change begins. Community building nurtures the gifts of the emerging generation and thereby makes a difference. It unlocks secrets that bridge the seen with the unseen.

Community is a social system that takes care of its own as those who are a part are blessed to be a blessing. As such, the long-standing practices of the communities of Jewish people becomes a light shining in a largely otherwise dark world. It is the catalyst for change and for trickle-down blessings.

In this series we've learned that Jewish thinking differs from that of other peoples. So do their strategies. We've seen how the model, established by their forbearer Abraham, merges the combined operation of the spiritual, the economic and community.

Community from a Jewish stance is an assembly of God's people operating beyond that place of human effort by turning the ordinary into the extraordinary. Community that operates with this standard is a safe place, with God at the center as His people share a common purpose mutually benefiting one another in the application of the diversity of their gifts.

In the search for the stepping stones of success, from a Jewish perspective, we've also found different priorities. We've seen that wealth is the byproduct of the process, rather than the goal. That represents a big difference in the way entrepreneurs think. We learned that the community itself and its posterity are much more highly valued. We now better understand the strategy of building community, which is the shared responsibility of each member.

Even though they have limited free time from their units, over 100 believing soldiers were in attendance.

(Kehila News Israel) All Israelis, men aged 18 to 21 and women aged 18 to 20, are required to do some form of military or community service. This means that thousands of Messianic Israelis - Jewish and non-Jewish, men and women - have shared in the Israeli army experience at one time or another. We are especially proud of our soldiers facing the challenges of today, which are more complex than ever before.

From survey results, it is clear that openness about Yeshua (Jesus) in the Israeli army is indeed the new “norm.” Of those Messianic soldiers polled by KNI, a remarkable 96% say fellow soldiers know of their belief in Yeshua as the Messiah.
Possibly even more remarkable is that 78% of their commanders and/or officers know of their belief in Yeshua. This is certainly a generation that is bolder than ever in sharing and living out their faith!

Equally encouraging feedback from the survey results is a largely supportive and pluralistic reaction from their fellow soldiers and officers, with 64% of them having a positive response, 22% having an indifferent response and only 14% expressing a negative response upon hearing about their faith in Yeshua.

Contrary to what older Israeli believers remember of their army experience, very few Messianic soldiers today face significant discrimination or persecution. Furthermore, a relatively high percentage (30%) responded that they have a fellow believer in their unit. As recently as fifteen to twenty years ago, it was a rarity for any two Messianic soldiers to be found serving together.

A statistic that has not changed over the years is the high percentage of Messianic IDF soldiers serving in combat. A vast majority of 57% responded that they are serving in combat units, with many serving in volatile areas, such as the Gaza border, Lebanon border, and Judea and Samaria. The believing community in Israel, both young and old, is known to be very Zionist, nationalist and law abiding, with a high motivation to serve God and Israel.

There is a long history, albeit unknown to many, of Messianic believers serving in combat units and elite special forces including Sayeret Matkal (General Staff Reconnaissance Unit) and Shayetet 13 (Navy Seals). Today’s Messianic IDF soldiers are no exception.

In reading this encouraging information about Messianic soldiers, it is important to remember that over the past six months Israel has been facing a new type of terror in which lone attackers suddenly try to stab, shoot or run over unsuspecting Israeli citizens going about their everyday lives. However, their preferred targets are IDF soldiers.

In the midst of these terror attacks are hundreds of Messianic IDF soldiers, serving the State of Israel, defending its citizens, and most of all, being a tremendous blessing and testimony to their fellow soldiers.

Another aspect of understanding the significance of the boldness and openness of Messianic soldiers today is the effect they have on the way Israeli society views believers in general, but particularly relating to immigration or aliyah.

Those who are already Israeli citizens are not questioned about their faith by the IDF. Like all other Israeli recruits they are drafted and evaluated for their potential skill.

However, Messianic Jews wanting to immigrate to Israel can face difficulties because of their faith. It is noteworthy that even during the years when Messianic soldiers were still fighting for equal opportunities, a 1988 poll published in the Jerusalem Post found that 78% of Israelis were in favor of Messianic Jews immigrating to Israel under the Law of Return, as long as they could prove Jewish lineage - and were willing to serve in the IDF.

For three decades and more, Messianic Israelis have demonstrated that they can and do serve their country, not in spite of but because of their faith in Yeshua. This has resulted not only in more openness to accepting our service, but also more willingness to hear our testimony about Israel’s Messiah.

Kehila News Israel (KNI) brings you the first published survey online of Messianic Jews serving in the IDF (Israeli Defense Forces). KNI conducted the survey in cooperation with several local ministries that organize conferences and Bible studies on weekends for hundreds of Messianic soldiers currently serving in the IDF. There were 69 respondents to this survey by active duty IDF soldiers from a total population of several hundred Messianic soldiers. For more stories from Israel, check out (www.kehilanews.com).
