Does God always answer our prayers? Jesus said, "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks, it will be opened" (Matt. 7:7-8).He even promised,"If you ask anything in My name, I will do it" (John 14:14).Jesus also gave a parable that had as its purpose that we should keep on praying and never give up (Luke 18:1-8).

The reason we should keep praying and never give up is because God doesn't always answer our prayers immediately. What is more, we get to know God and His ways by spending more time with Him. One reason I believe God does not answer our prayers immediately is because He likes our company; if He answered all requests straightaway, we might not pray as much! But the implication in Jesus' parable is that if we don't give up, God will eventually come to our rescue.

There are those who would say, "God has not answered my prayer at all." To which I would respond: So far as you can tell at the moment. I myself can testify: There are literally a dozen or more requests I have put to the throne of grace that have not been answered. There are also promises given to me—I believe from the Lord—that have not been fulfilled. And I am 82 as I write these lines.

But what about the Enochs, Noahs, Abrahams, Isaacs and Jacobs of this world? All those stalwarts in Hebrews 11, heaven's hall of fame, could testify that it was not merely unanswered prayers in their situations; it was a case of God apparently not even keeping all His promises! Think about this verse, quoted above:"None of them received what had been promised" (Heb. 11:39b, NIV).Think about that verse for a moment. None of them received what had been promised. Yet they kept believing. But why? Were they dumb? Stupid? Why ever didn't they give up?

Your Will Be Done

It must be said at this stage we do not know all that was promised to each of them. We know vaguely and generally what was promised to some of them. But we don't know everything. Based upon Hebrews 11:39, I would conclude that there were things promised to them that were not mentioned in the Old Testament books, as in Genesis, Exodus, Judges, 1 and 2 Samuel, and 1 and 2 Kings, for example. If we knew everything that had been promised to them, Hebrews 11:39 would make even more sense. But as this verse stands, we may safely conclude that all those described in Hebrews 11 had the following in common:

They did not receive everything that was promised to them.

What was promised to them was not so much for them after all, but "for us" so that "together with us" the promises they received would be perfected or fulfilled.

We might immediately think of Abraham, who was looking for a "city with foundations, whose architect and builder is God" (Heb. 11:10b). He did not see that city. We have not seen it either! But it is the new Jerusalem, which together we may all look forward to (Rev. 21 and 22)!

The people described in Hebrews 11 were not popular on earth. Many of them were hated. And they all had to suffer incalculable disappointment along the way. But during the whole time of their preparation and accomplishments, and lack of fulfillment, "none of them received what had been promised," they were popular in heaven. They also had in common that they chose a road less traveled.

If it's your heart's desire to be popular in heaven, and I hope it is, I must caution you: God will not knock you down to make it happen! It is going to be true with you if you make a conscious decision to be popular in heaven. This does not mean you will be favored over the saints there; it is not like being popular in school when you are good-looking or excel in sports. It means that you are a beautiful fragrance that ascends to the place of the saints and the angels; that your choices on planet Earth cohere with the holy will of God being carried out in heaven. Right choices on earth fit well with the saints there.

It is like the petition in the Lord's Prayer: "Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven" (Matt. 6:10b, MEV).In heaven, the will of God is being carried out perfectly; there is no rebellion, no rivalry among the saints or grumbling there. So when we make decisions on earth that fit in with what is pleasing to God, we are not only praying that the will of God be done in our lives but actually carrying out His will as it is in heaven. This makes us popular in the heavenlies!

2020 Gathering Together Event (GTE) April 3-4, 2020 in Charlotte, NC area

Gathering Together Event
April 3-4, 2020
Charlotte, NC area

2 days. 12 speakers. 3 worship teams.

For several years there has been a strong desire among some to pull churches and ministries in this local area, Charlotte, North Carolina and Fort Mill, South Carolina together.

In 2003 the Lord initially put it on one's heart to ask several ministries with similar connections to somehow, someway, work together in areas where they could, to bring the Lord’s Body together in unity. Only one replied, writing back, "It will never happen."

It is not about big names, big churches or big ministries. It is about being the Body of Christ, together, as Jesus Himself prayed in John 17. We believe His prayer will get answered - one way or another.

That one and only response back then, now 16 years later, must change. It is still on the Lord's heart, and now in an even greater measure.

The Lord again spoke in October 2018 that it was time to once again attempt to bring local churches and ministries together, if even for a day or two.

Now is the time for all types, many walks, from several churches and ministries, to come together. Now is the time that the world may see one Body of Christ, believers in Jesus (Yeshua), be as one, if even for two days.

Can I get a witness? There will be One New Man, one Body of Christ, all believers walking and serving in His plans and purposes. We pray it will happen in our cities here.

We truly hope so.

Below are those who are committed to making a go of it, who comprise the leadership team for the event. We are bringing together male, female, Jew, Gentile, black, white, and all in between. Read on.

Pastor Lathan Wood Senior Pastor, Movement Centre

“Give me something that transcends what I see; something that speaks to the core of me.” - Lathan Wood, Sr.

Frustrated and wanting more, Lathan Wood began his spiritual journey as God birthed an idea within him that would transcend the very structure of what church would become for his ministry.

Stepping out on faith was no easy feat; a month after the birth of his youngest son, Lathan relocated his family from the place he called home in Georgia, for more than thirty years, to Charlotte, North Carolina. In a state of complete obedience, God birthed the Movement Centre; whose mission is to ignite people to pursue purpose. With a collective vision and a ministry-minded pastor, over the past six years, The Movement Centre has continued to expand its reach, offering a unique spiritual encounter with Christ to a forgotten generation. Bridging the gap between new school and old school values, Lathan’s primary mission is to develop a biblically sound congregation and to educate his members on how to walk with power and authority in their spiritual gifts.

To date, he has ministered for over 20 years in different platforms both in and out of the pulpit with one goal: to empower others to uncover the richness of the Word of God and endow them with tools needed to pursue God’s purpose for their lives. Having over 20 years of experience, Lathan has assumed numerous ministerial roles and has received many accolades for his service in the Kingdom. In 2017, he developed IgniteU, a four-semester, intensive, in-house Theology program that equips students for effective Kingdom work.

Professionally, he wears many hats that have allowed him to learn an array of skills. From his multiple real estate investments, to his passion for songwriting, composing, and producing, Lathan has years of professional experience in a variety of industries, including community relations, project management, youth development and customer service. He holds a Master’s in Business, a Bachelor of Arts in Business Management, and an Associate’s degree in Music. With the echelons of academia at his fingertips and his spiritual keenness, Lathan Wood knows that he is just at the beginning of walking into the many places God has called him to be.

Aside from being committed to his personal and professional progression, he considers his greatest achievement to be the ones that walk with him daily: his wife of 15 years and partner in ministry, Pastor Kelli Wood, and his two natural children, Lathan, Jr. and Kaiden.

Steve Martin, Love For His People Founder and President

Steve served with the Christian ministries of Derek Prince, Mahesh and Bonnie Chavda, and Barry and Batya Segal from 1987-2010, all having a national and international outreach focus. During that time, he made 14 ministry trips to Israel, China, India, Trinidad and Tobago, and the United Kingdom.

In 2010, Steve and his good wife Laurie founded Love For His People, Inc, a 501©3 non-profit humanitarian aid ministry, primarily to support Messianic Jews in Israel, and to share the truth of God’s plans and purposes for the Land of Israel and the Jews. This work touches the natural and spiritual lives with needed encouragement and strength.

From 2011-2018 he served with several ministries and secular non-profits in the Charlotte, North Carolina area, including Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, Samaritan’s Purse, Covenant Keepers, Charlotte Center City Partners, and Charlotte Rescue Mission. He currently serves also as the Office Manager at Antioch International Church in Fort Mill, SC (Dr. Peter Wyns).

While on his overseas journeys Steve enjoys sharing written journal entries with family and friends back home, through social media. His light-hearted stories give an up close and personal touch for those reading along. His extensive collection of photos taken during these trips, of both local scenery and common people on the streets, has touched thousands through their varied images.

His regular messages Now Think On This are posted on the ministry's Love For His People and Now Think of This blogs. They also appear on Facebook and Twitter, featuring words of spiritual enrichment, along with selected photos. His 20 books to date, authored and published through the ministry, are available in paperback and Kindle versions.

Steve enjoys writing, photography and growing the ministry of Love For His People, Inc., to reach the nations with love, truth, and hope in Jesus Christ, Yeshua HaMashiach.

Since 1994, Steve and Laurie have lived in the Charlotte, NC area, after having homes in Illinois, Michigan, and Florida. Now married for 42 years as of October 2019, they enjoy having their four adult children, spouses, and 7 grandchildren close by in North Carolina.

Ambassadors & Cheerleaders - Now Think On This by Steve Martin

Ambassadors & Cheerleaders

“I have heard a message from the Lord, and an ambassador has been sent to the nations:
"Gather together, come against her, and rise up to battle!” (Jeremiah 49:14, NKJV)

Those who know the Lord have been called to be His ambassadors here on earth. We have been chosen for a high calling, something not to be taken lightly. We represent His Name, His authority, His life in those places and to those people He has placed us in and about.

Being an ambassador, as the dictionary says, is one who is “an accredited diplomat sent by a country as its official representative to a foreign country.  It is a person who acts as a representative or promoter of a specified activity.

This is not a choice we have, but a very specific duty and obligation the Lord Himself has given to each one of us. The choice we do have is whether we will carry out our duties and responsibilities or not, and to what extent.

When an ambassador is sent from his homeland to another country, to represent his government to that government and country he now works in, he doesn’t just decide to think and do what he believes he is to do. He has been sent to give the input from his sending President and the authorized leadership he walks under. Otherwise, he is not representing the rightful authority, but his own. That is not his purpose, nor his decision.

When Jesus sent out His disciples, as ambassadors, He gave them certain commands they were to follow.

“These twelve Jesus sent out and commanded them, saying: "Do not go into the way of the Gentiles, and do not enter a city of the Samaritans.  But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.  And as you go, preach, saying, 'The kingdom of heaven is at hand.'  Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons. Freely you have received, freely give.  Provide neither gold nor silver nor copper in your money belts, nor bag for your journey, nor two tunics, nor sandals, nor staffs; for a worker is worthy of his food.

"Now whatever city or town you enter, inquire who in it is worthy, and stay there till you go out.  And when you go into a household, greet it. If the household is worthy, let your peace come upon it. But if it is not worthy, let your peace return to you.  And whoever will not receive you nor hear your words, when you depart from that house or city, shake off the dust from your feet.  Assuredly, I say to you, it will be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgment than for that city!” (Matthew 10:5-15, NKJV)

Because they represented the government and authority that Jesus had, they were required to follow His instructions and do as He Himself would have done.

We are to do the same. We are to be the ambassadors that the King of the Universe has sent us here to be.

In addition to being good ambassadors, we are also called to be cheerleaders. As those who are commonly found at sporting events, the ones who typically do the “Rah! Rah!” and “Go team go!” (but with a little more creatively than I just used…), they cheer on, whether for the ones just starting out in their first year on the soccer and football fields, or the professionals with years of experience. Cheerleaders are commonly walking the perimeter of the field, getting the crowd fired up in support of their home team. They bring encouragement.

As the psalmist wrote, we need cheering on. From Him personally, and through each other.

“Who will champion my cause against the wicked? Who will stand up for me against evildoers? If Adonai hadn’t helped me, I would soon have dwelt in the land of silence. When I said, “My foot is slipping!” your grace, Adonai, supported me. When my cares within me are many, your comforts cheer me up.” (Psalm 94:16-19, Complete Jewish Bible)

“First, I thank my God through Yeshua the Messiah for all of you, because the report of your trust is spreading throughout the whole world. For God, whom I serve in my spirit by spreading the Good News about his Son, is my witness that I regularly remember you in my prayers; and I always pray that somehow, now or in the future, I might, by God’s will, succeed in coming to visit you. For I long to see you, so that I might share with you some spiritual gift that can make you stronger —  or, to put it another way, so that by my being with you, we might, through the faith we share, encourage one another. (Romans 1:8-13, Complete Jewish Bible)

As ambassadors also, cheerleaders represent the owners of the sports team and must be physically fit to properly perform their cheers and encouragement for the team they also represent. So, we too must keep ourselves strong, and keep building one another up in His purposes and plans.

We often will find ourselves put in locations and events where we are called upon to cheer on our friends, our co-workers, our family, our nation. We have been chosen to share the light, the truth, that which will bring encouragement to those looking for such, so much needed in our times.

A spoken word here, a Scripture shared now, an acknowledgment of approval given to one who is discouraged – all of these can be done as we represent the King, being His ambassadors and His cheerleaders.

People need the Lord. (Thank you, Steve Green, for your song powerfully sung decades ago!) People need to hear good news, have good news, and abide by good news.

We have been called as ambassadors and given the job of being cheerleaders, to share with our neighbors and the nations the Good News of the Lord Jesus Christ. It is His righteousness, honesty, truthfulness, and holiness that we all need currently.

Be a good ambassador, and cheer on while doing it!

Now think on this.

Shalom and ahava (peace and love in Hebrew).
