'The Word of God...in the White House': President Trump Reads These Prayer Cards - CBN News Abigail Robertson

'The Word of God...in the White House': President Trump Reads These Prayer Cards
08-08-2018
WASHINGTON – A prayer movement begun by one congressman and his wife is gaining national
momentum.

When Tracy Bost, wife of Rep. Mike Bost (R-IL), first set up a PO box for people in her district to
send prayers to the president, she was hesitant to go back and check it fearing no one would send
anything. But to her great surprise, hundreds of prayers poured in.

"That was really a blessing to me and then I knew that God was doing something bigger than I ever
Tracy first came up with the idea when she and her husband, Mike, attended the 2017 GOP retreat
in Philadelphia.

An Idea Born After Witnessing Anger and 'Pure Ugliness'

"There was so much protest going on and so much anger and just pure ugliness," recalled Tracy.

She wanted to do something to encourage the new commander-in-chief.

"I just kept praying, 'God what can I do? What can I do?'" said Tracy. "The prayer card came to mind.
That we could just have people in my life, friends and family members, send a little prayer of
encouragement to the president."

Prayer Card Goal Exceeds Expectations

They set a goal of 100 prayers and asked people to send them on 3x5 notecards. Six weeks later, they
had received almost 300. Her husband asked a White House liaison to deliver them to President Trump.

"I handed them to him and said look, we don't want any [thing], just give them to him okay?"
Rep. Bost explained.

A couple of months later, Bost joined a few other congressmen in the Oval Office for a bill signing.

President Trump Says, 'We Use Those'

"The president looks at me and goes 'Bost. Bost.' He said, 'prayer cards!' and I said 'yeah, Mr. President.
My wife did that and circulated prayer cards.' And he said, 'We use those.' And I said, 'Good I'm so
glad, that's wonderful,'" recalled Bost.

The president then asked an aide to grab the bag of cards off a shelf so they could take a picture.

"He said, 'understand, we use these,' and I turned and when I turned I ran, honest to goodness,
chest-to-chest with the Vice President and he goes, 'Mike he's not joking, we use these,'" explained
Bost. "'They'll be times we say okay, and we reach out and we grab them. It's amazing that people
are willing to put these together.'"

Tracy was elated to learn he actually reads the cards.

"I cried and I still get emotional about it," she said. "I'm thankful that every day he gets to put his hand
in that bag and I know the right card for that day is the one he puts in his hand."

Teacher Andrea Deming's students who wrote cards were thankful, too – even those who told her
they didn't like the president.

"I encouraged them to just say positive things – if you had a specific prayer for him or a specific
scripture that you would like to say that's positive," said Deming. "We strongly encouraged them to
keep it positive and they all did. There were none that were rude or anything in that matter."

Knowing President Trump Reads Prayers Eases Concerns

Cassandra Ortiz, who now helps collect the prayer cards through Frontline Family Ministries, tells
CBN News she was worried about President Trump because she didn't know where he stood spiritually. She says this experience has eased her concerns.

"To know that the Word of God is being spoken, it's being taught, it's being reflected on, it's being
meditated on in the White House – it's just a huge encouragement to know that God is working and
God is moving in the White House," Ortiz told CBN News.

She believes there is power in believers joining together to send prayers to our leaders.

Bost: Prayers an 'Integral Part of the Job'

"So many people, we don't want to be the silent Christians. We don't want to be the ones that see the
issue, complain about the issue, and then don't do anything about it," continued Ortiz.

Congressman Bost says prayers and faith are an integral part of his job.

"I don't know how anyone does this job or any other job without a faith that is strong and without the
prayer and support of other people," said Bost.

And he thinks many Christians would be surprised to learn how much prayer happens daily in the
Capitol.

"There's never a day, never a morning, never sometimes during the day of any day that we're there
that there's not at least one or two Bible studies or prayer groups that meet," says Bost. "I was so
overwhelmed with the amount of faith in DC."

Prayers Now Coming from All Over America

The Bosts still deliver about a hundred prayer cards each month to the White House and now collect
them from all over the country.

Tracy encourages people not just to write prayers to the president, but also the vice president, the first
lady, or any other leader God is putting on your heart – like a mayor, city councilman, or state senator.

US One Step Closer to Defunding Palestinian Authority Over 'Pay to Slay' - CBN News Abigail Robertson

US One Step Closer to Defunding Palestinian Authority Over 'Pay to Slay'
08-03-2017
WASHINGTON -- The Taylor Force Act came one step closer to becoming law after passing through the Senate Foreign Relations Committee with bipartisan support.
The bill calls for an end to U.S. funding of the Palestinian Authority until it stops financially rewarding people for being terrorists. The United States currently gives almost $400 million a year to help the foreign government.
"If you murder an Israeli or someone else, you get $3,500 a month," said Sen. Bob Corker, R-Tenn.
Corker says in interviews conducted with Palestinian prisoners, the captives admitted there was an incentive to commit more egregious crimes in order to receive more money. He says their goal was to do something worthy of at least a five-year sentence to get the payment increased.
The bill is named in honor of American business school student and combat veteran Taylor Force, who was brutally stabbed to death in March 2016 while on a school trip to Israel. The 21-year-old Palestinian man who killed him was then praised and financially rewarded by his government.
"Taylor was an American hero who was brutally murdered at the hands of terrorists. Yet instead of condemning this horrific attack, and so many others like it, the Palestinian Authority rewards terrorists," said Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., who introduced the bill. "These rewards for terrorist attacks are inconsistent with American values. They are inconsistent with decency. And they are certainly inconsistent with peace."
"Simply put, you can't be a partner in peace when you are paying people to commit acts of terror. It is long past time to let the Palestinian Authority know that these practices are wholly unacceptable," Graham said in a statement.
The measure passed the committee with bipartisan support, and both senators feel confident it will soon become law.
"This legislation will force the Palestinian Authority to make a choice: Either face the consequences of stoking violence or end this detestable practice immediately," said Corker. "I thank Sen. Graham for his important role in this effort and look forward to this bill becoming law."

Hagee's End Times Warning: 'The Fuse Is Lit, Every Prophetic Player Is on Stage' - CBN News Abigail Robertson

Hagee's End Times Warning: 'The Fuse Is Lit, Every Prophetic Player Is on Stage'

WASHINGTON -- Over 5,000 Christians traveled to Washington, D.C. this week for the 12th annual Christians United for Israel Summit.
As part of the summit, attendees lobbied congressmen and senators for a day on Capitol Hill to stand with Israel. At the top of the list of legislation they'd like to see passed is the Taylor Force Act, which calls for a halt of all U.S. taxpayer funding of the Palestinian Authority until they stop rewarding people for being terrorists.
"The United States of America has been giving money to the Palestinians; the Palestinians have been using that money to pay bonuses to terrorists who kill Jews and we are saying to our government shut that money off," Pastor John Hagee, founder of CUFI, told CBN News. "America should not be paying for the murder of Jewish people."
Hagee Praises Trump's Pro-Israel Stance
On Monday night, Pastor Hagee introduced Vice President Mike Pence to deliver the summit's keynote address. Hagee says he's pleased with this administration's commitment to supporting Israel.
"This administration's position towards Israel is probably the most aggressive, pro-Israel administration in my lifetime," said Hagee. "I assure you it's a million miles in front of the former administration."
Pastor Hagee think at some point during President Donald Trump's presidency, the U.S. Embassy in Israel will move to Jerusalem.
"I'm very confident that President Trump will move the embassy. He has promised that he would get us a conservative Supreme Court justice; he has done that," Hagee told CBN News.
"He has promised that he will rebuild the U.S. military; he is doing that," he continued. "In spite of the Russian witch-hunt and the obstinate Democrats, he's doing his very, very best to fulfill his promises. And I know that he will in his own time move that embassy."

Hagee Weighs in on the 'End of Days'
Hagee made national headlines a few years ago with his studies and observations on the series of four blood moons that appeared in the sky and all coincided with Jewish feast days. Hagee says these were prophesied in the Bible and are a sign that God is about to move on the world stage.
"The four blood moons, as soon as the fourth blood moon appeared, you will follow the press followings that Russia moved out of Russia into the Middle East," Hagee noted. "They moved their military forces into the Middle East. The 38th chapter of the book of Ezekiel says that when the King of the north moves out of the north, I will bring you out of the north. Then we are getting ready to watch the Genesis of the Gog-Magog War."
"So the very specific thing that happened as soon as those blood moons ended was that Russia moved out to the Middle East, and Russia is not going to leave the Middle East," Hagee warned. "They're going to join with Iran to build... a massive army that will in time try to perform a land invasion of the state of Israel."
He says the upcoming, rare solar eclipse on August 21 is not quite as dramatic as the four blood moons, but is an example of one of the many signs and wonders we'll see in the sky in the end of days that have never happened before.
"The Bible says in the end of days you will see signs and wonders in the sky, and there are several signs and wonders that are happening in the sky that have never happened before," Hagee told CBN News.
"They are not quite as dramatic as the four blood moons because the four blood moons were predicted by Joel," he said. "They were prophesied and confirmed by Jesus. They were confirmed by NASA; they were given dates -- the dates of those events were Passover and the Feast of Tabernacles."
"God established those dates thousands of years ago. Only God can make a blood moon happen because the sun shines through the Earth's atmosphere to make the moon come to a reddish glow," he continued.
"Only God can get those aligned to do that, and He did it four times in a row on those specific dates. It is so phenomenally packed with truth that even the atheists had to admit that is was unusual," said Hagee.
'The World as We Have it Is a Powder Keg'
And he's drawing other connections between biblical prophecies and current events around the world right now.
"The world as we have it at this very present time is a powder keg and the fuse is lit," he warned. "Every player is on the stage for the first time in history that fulfills all of the prophecies of Daniel, Ezekiel, Jeremiah, Isaiah; they're all there. We're just waiting for the next domino to fall and when it does watch out! It's not going to stop."

Was Solomon a Republican? News Magazine Attacks Rubio's Bible Tweets - CBN News Mark Martin, Abigail Robertson

Marco Rubio
Was Solomon a Republican? News Magazine Attacks Rubio's
Bible Tweets

07-11-2017 CBN News Mark Martin,
Senator Marco Rubio likes to tweet Bible verses almost every day, but one news organization is accusing him of playing politics with the Holy Scriptures.
A recent article in Politico Magazine says Rubio is "tweeting the most Republican part of the Bible" -- Proverbs.
"Some of the statements in Proverbs look strikingly similar to those made by modern-day conservative policymakers," Joel S. Baden wrote for the magazine.
Baden goes on to write that Proverbs "generally deals with questions of how to live a righteous life."
"For example: Just this past July 5, Rubio tweeted, 'They will die from lack of discipline, lost because of their great folly. Proverbs 5:23,'" Baden continued.
In response, the Florida senator tweeted, "Proverbs is the Republican part of the Bible?I don't think Solomon had yet joined the GOP when he wrote the first 29 chapters of Proverbs."
Evangelist Franklin Graham came to the defense of Rubio, writing on Facebook, "God's Word is filled with wisdom — and it's neither Republican nor Democrat."
CBN Chaplain Joel Palser agrees with Graham's statement about God's Word.
"Probably the greatest theologian of the 20th century -- he's been called that -- Karl Barth... said it was timeless truth, and so the idea that it would somehow be owned by one party or another was ludicrous," he told CBN News.
"This is ageless, timeless -- applicable to every culture and time," Palser continued.
Rubio has received criticism of his biblical tweets in the past. For example, Leah McElrath, writer for liberal website Shareblue, called the tweets "unsettling," to which The Washington Post blogger Jennifer Rubin responded, "Either he was hacked or he's totally lost it."
Esquire politics blogger Charles Pierce called the tweets "oddly terrifying."
Many on Twitter, however, have come to Sen. Rubio's defense, saying they appreciate the Bible verses that have thousands of likes and retweets.
When asked on "Fox & Friends" what he thinks of some of the negative responses his tweets received, Rubio replied, "If people don't like the Bible and they don't like the Gospel, they don't have to follow me on Twitter I suppose."
The Florida lawmaker says he tries to read the Bible every day, and he will continue to post Scriptural tweets, "especially if there's something in there that I think just spoke to me, and I want to share with people on Twitter."

Surviving the Storms: Tim Tebow Shares Why His Faith Won't Be Shaken - CBN News Abigail Robertson

Surviving the Storms: Tim Tebow Shares Why His Faith Won't Be Shaken
10-26-2016
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- The world has noticed Tim Tebow since his days playing college football. But who could have predicted a Heisman trophy winner and pro football quarterback would find himself in Scottsdale, Arizona, playing Minor League Baseball?
CBN News Reporter Abigail Robertson recently spoke with Tebow to get his perspective on how his life has been shaken.
One of the first questions she asked him -- why baseball?
"Playing baseball for me was something I almost did out of high school, and I decided to go to the University of Florida, and it's been something that's been on my heart throughout the last couple of years," Tebow explained. "I really felt like why not go pursue it if it's something that I'm passionate about and it's on my heart? You know, go after it."
Tebow may be passionate about baseball now, but it wasn't exactly his first career choice. The Denver Broncos drafted him right out of college and after being promoted to starting quarterback, he led the team to their first playoff win in six years.
Tebow's Career Goes Downhill
Despite that promising beginning, the Broncos traded him after the first season ended and things went downhill from there. Tebow was cut or released from three more teams in the years that followed.
"When you're going through that, what do you have to hold onto?" Tebow asked. "What is your foundation? Who are you? And more importantly, whose are you in your relationship with Christ?"
A little over a year ago, Tebow felt God leading him to write a book for others facing challenges of all kinds.
"I wanted to write something to those people to encourage them that there's still a God that loves you, that created you in love, by love, for love, for a purpose, that you matter, and you're significant," he told CBN News. "So when people are going through tough times, they have something to hold onto, and they do in their relationship with Christ."
In his new book, Shaken: Discovering Your True identity in the Midst of Life's Storms, Tebow talks about his tougher times. Those ranged from trying to just be "one of the guys" on a new team surrounded by media frenzy, to living in isolation as paparazzi camped out 12 feet from his front door, to realizing his future in football was likely over.
As he writes, "I had no job, no car, no home."
Keep Calm and Stay Focused
All the while, sports announcers and media headlines were blowing up with people happy to see him failing.
"Not everybody can relate to the highs, but almost everybody can relate to the lows," Tebow said.
Through relentless criticism, he managed to keep calm and remain focused.
"When you believe in yourself and you believe you're doing the right thing and you're giving it your all -- you have to block out the criticism," Tebow said. "You have to block out the naysayers."
"A lot of times people will say, 'Let it go in one ear and out the other," and I just think don't even let it go in one ear," he continued. "Don't even listen to it. Don't even go on social media; don't read it; don't watch the TV."
"For me, it's stay focused on what your goal is, and don't let the naysayers sway you from your goal," he said.
Going Deeper in Jesus
Tebow addresses his struggles in his new book, titled Shaken. He says his prayer for the people who read the book is "that they're encouraged to go find a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ."
"And it's not just the going to church on Sunday morning or Wednesday night," he admonished. "But it's actually a deep relationship, a one-on-one, intimate relationship with a God that loves us so much He sent his son to die for them."
Tebow opens up a lot in the book, but don't expect any details of his dating life. He did, however, share his philosophy on relationships.
"I think prayer is important. I think having Godly wisdom is important from people that you look up to," he told CBN News.
"And I think having people around you that are going to tell you what you really need to hear, not what you want to hear, and they're able to be the people that are able to help guide you in that path because sometimes in relationships you can't always see clear, but people around you can," Tebow advised.
Shaken is not just inspired by his own experiences overcoming disappointment.
"I've seen so many people that everything around them is shaken, and they're thinking, 'I don't even know if I'm going to be here tomorrow,'" Tebow said. "And I've seen some of them with such amazing faith that even in the midst of all of that, they still had something to hold on to, and that was their relationship with Christ."
Giving Back
In 2010, he created the Tim Tebow Foundation, which helps thousands of orphans, special needs, and terminally ill children each year.
Tebow said God planted this seed in him when he was 15 and met a Filipino boy named Sherwin who had backwards feet. In 2015, the foundation opened a hospital in the Philippines that provides patients with life-changing orthopedic surgeries.
Tebow said the hospital is one of his proudest accomplishments.
"Now in our hospital in the Philippines, all the boys who are like Sherwin with their feet on backwards, we get to go pick them up and carry them to the hospital, and they get to walk out," he shared. "But they don't just walk out with physical healing, but spiritual healing, and emotional healing as well."
Tebow has become a major role model for Christians of all ages, but particularly Millennials. CBN News asked what advice he has for how young adult Christians can stand strong in their faith.
"I would say find an intimate relationship with Jesus Christ -- their own faith, not their parents' faith, not their friends, but theirs," Tebow replied. "And develop that and work on that."
"And also find friends that they can invest in, and love in, and disciple, but also friends that are going to be able to lift them up when they are going through tough times because I really believe 'iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another,'" Tebow, said quoting Proverbs. "So find those people in life that are going to invest in you."
Tebow Takes on His Critics
As for the critics of Tebow's baseball career, he told CBN News it's not a make-or-break situation.
"They'll criticize. They'll say, 'Why? The chances of making it are so slim.' But for me it's about pursuing your passion and not being afraid of failure, not being afraid of what people are going to say because I'm also a believer that perfect love casts out all fear," Tebow said.
"Let's just love God, and let's love people and let's bring people together," he continued. "How many people can we love in the name of Jesus? How many people can we help in the name of Jesus? That's the goal. Nothing else is the goal. Nothing else matters. That's what matters, plain and simple. And I feel like that's my passion, and I feel like it's my purpose, too."
Divine Opportunities
And that's exactly what Tebow is doing on and off the field.
He may not be playing in arenas of 75,000 anymore, but the smaller crowds have led to some divine opportunities. Tebow recently made headlines for praying over a fan having a seizure after one of his games. He later learned the man decided to follow Jesus while watching the game in the stands, after overhearing other fans talking about God.
"When you believe that you serve a big God, and when you believe yourself that He has a plan and a purpose for you, you can walk with confidence and go after what He puts on your heart, and you can do it with boldness and courage, and you can go after it not having to listen to the naysaysers," Tebow said.
Tim Tebow may not have seen baseball in his future, but God sure did. With each curve ball life has thrown at him he's continued to trust God's plan for his future, and not let his faith be shaken.
