Jerusalem, Israel

Greetings to you from the Promised Land!

It sure is great when the Holy Spirit guides you. Once you ask Him to of course.

After driving the short 25 minutes from Jerusalem to King Herod’s Palace and tomb (three videos I recorded are here), when I was finished, and tired from the many steps, I asked “Where next, Lord.” His reply was “Derek Prince’s gravesite.” And so I went back to Jerusalem, to Germantown.

I had been to the Alliance Church Cemetery twice before, but wanted to see it again. It is in the southern part of Jerusalem, in what was/is known as Germantown. I somewhat knew the way, but again was asking the Lord to direct my steps (as I drove.)

Traffic is packed full of buses, taxis, motorcycles, mopeds and cars no matter where you drive in the capital city of Israel, and with a rental car, parking is even more of a challenge. But I found a lone spot two blocks from the cemetery entrance.

Once inside, I started the circular walk to the right, with Derek’s grave not too far from the metal door entrance, part of the stone/block wall that surrounds the Alliance Church Cemetery. To my amazement the mural, which I had first heard about on the 700 Club on CBN a few years ago, was completed! It began in the right, southwest corner of the walled-in resting place, and filled the 12 foot tall wall the entire 70 yards (my estimate) of the right side. Then it turned the corner and ran another 30 yards or more on the eastern wall. What a glorious site!

From Genesis to Revelation, with Abraham, Moses, Joseph and to the reign of Jesus (Yeshua) in Revelation, the complete Bible story is told, painted by Patricia Solveson from Wisconsin, USA. It took her six and a half years.

And how do I know that? When the lady sitting on the wooden bench at the end of my walk around the area, after taking several photos of graves, asked me if I was a photographer, I replied, “I like to take pictures.” I asked her who she was. She softly said, “I am Patricia. I painted this mural.” Wow!

Patrica Solveson

Patricia then went on to say how the Jerusalem Wall of Life came about, beginning over seven years ago when she was asked to do the mural. The director of the cemetery had seen her painted artwork she brought to Jerusalem for several years, giving it away as gifts, and wanted her to paint the mural. Once started, six and half years later, when coming in the spring and fall with her husband Carl, Patricia beautifully put the story of salvation on the Jerusalem wall.

Many people visit the cemetery to see graves of the believing Gentiles buried there. As she shared stories with me, she described how a Jewish man would come often, asking her why this and that was depicted. In time, as she explained the plan of God to him, he too became a believer and now still comes regularly to visit. Other Jews who come in off the street, out of curiosity most times, wonder why the Star of David and Christian symbols are on some sites.

The last few years have seen several Messianic Jews laid to rest here. May the Holy Spirit continue to share the message of hope and salvation to all who come.

You can read more about Patricia and the mural at the website Jerusalem Wall of Life - It is Finished!

Jerusalem Log #4 - Wednesday 05.03.17 - “Louie” by Steve Martin

Louie

Jerusalem Log Wednesday 05.03.17
Jerusalem, Israel
#4 - “Louie”

Greetings to you once again from Israel.

The love for Israel goes beyond being in wonder at the landmarks, the historical sights and the Jewish culture. It is loving the people themselves, even as Yeshua did when He came the first time. Showing the Father’s heart for the people He created, with His love, is what it is all about.

My heart for Israel began to grow in the 1980’s when I connected with Christian ministries that were presenting the truth about the plans and purposes God has for His Chosen ones. Derek Prince, Mahesh Chavda and Barry Segal (three men and their wives having ministries I worked with for over 24 years) spoke the written word of God, explaining the Scriptures and prophecy, revealing Jesus (Yeshua) and His love for the people.

Coming here to Israel, now for the 13th time, my commitment to stand in support of what the Lord is doing here is solid. He continues to bring them back to the Land promised to them through Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Loving the people is what it is all about.

My friend Louie owns a shop just within the Jaffa Gate of the Old City in Jerusalem. He says I first met him in 1998, and goes on to say that his birthday makes him three months older than my son Ben, also born in 1979. Louie has a good memory. Each time I see him I try to support his livelihood with purchases from him. Buying Israeli goods, made in Israel, not only helps the local economy, but it also provides gifts for my family and friends, which I especially enjoy.

Jaffa Gate entrance

Today Louie told me times have been tough for him. He now has his own shop, after sharing many years with his brother Solomon. But rent is higher and certain tour groups don’t spend as much as us Americans do. My objective was to buy an olive wood camel as an appreciation gift for my sister doing our family reunion organization this year. Before I left his place, I had much more in the bag. (Gotta watch these shopkeepers. They know how to sell, by convincing you “you just need this one more item.”)

After completing the transaction and giving me a fresh cup of pressed orange juice, Louie took me to his brother Solomon’s shop. Of course I had to kindly stand my ground and not buy anything more, even after a hot cup of mint tea was served in their “friend’s back room”, having more beautiful goods. I had done this before, so was wiser than the last time.

Before I could get a sip of the hot brew, Solomon introduced me to Thomas. Of course he then pulled out the Roman coins and the ancient widow’s mite, and wanted to make me a good deal. Once again I kindly explained that Louie had already emptied my wallet. Thanks, but no thanks.
Then Thomas explained that he was on dialysis twice a week, and uncovered his left arm. From his wrist to his elbow, his blood vessels had large bubbles in several spots. He asked that I touch them, and when I did I could feel his blood pumping through. I was shocked. I had never seen this before.

I then asked him if I could pray for him, and he said yes. So I prayed in faith that the Lord God of Israel, Yeshua, would quickly provide a donated kidney, and for complete healing for Thomas. I believe the Lord heard that prayer.

His heart, for His people, is why I come to Israel. May they know the living God, and call upon the name of the Messiah Jesus, Yeshua HaMashiach, as their Lord and Savior.

Ahava (love) and Shalom (peace) from Jerusalem!

From Genesis to Revelation: Artist Unveils Mural of the Bible in Jerusalem - CBN News Chris Mitchell

From Genesis to Revelation: Artist Unveils Mural of the Bible in Jerusalem

05-20-2016
CBN News Chris Mitchell

GERMAN COLONY, Israel -- In Jerusalem, artist Patricia Solveson recently completed a daunting task: Over the course of several years, she painted the entire Bible.
Called the Jerusalem Wall of Life, the biblical mural is longer than a football field and portrays scenes from Genesis to Revelation, including Moses parting the Red Sea.

It took six years for Solveson to finish what she calls her life's work.
"I'm probably more changed by painting this mural than anything else," Solveson told CBN News.
"I was very relieved, very relieved. But I felt His heart. I felt the Lord's heart of joy because He knows this is His place and His message can come forth," she shared.
"In a place where the Good News has been quenched, very seriously quenched, here are the walls shouting out His name," she said.

Creating the mural wasn't easy.
"Such a vast job. It was just overwhelming -- many, many times," she said. "But then someone would come in. They'd be so touched and then I'd be revived again to keep going."
Solveson completed the mural under the auspices of the Alliance Church in the Holy Land, which held a dedication service for the work.
"I think the mural is just a beautiful representation of our faith, of our hope, of the story," said Marshall Mullinax, field director of the Christian Alliance Center.
The mural wraps around the walls of the Alliance Church cemetery in Jerusalem's German Colony. Some may think it strange for this art to surround a cemetery.

"Perhaps one of the least expected evangelistic platforms in the world, a cemetery," Mullinax noted. "But we're one of the few groups of people that actually don't find cemeteries disturbing because our hope, our lives, our story doesn't end with the grave."
"We're a people who can walk without fear because we know that death's been conquered. We know that this is a stop in the story but it's not the end of the story," he said.
The cemetery, now an official Ministry of Tourism site, enjoys a rich heritage and history.
Rev. Jack Sara is vice president of Bethlehem Bible College and pastor with the Alliance Church.
"It's great to have this place dedicated and especially putting this mural on the wall where they talk about the story of God through all the history and especially the story of salvation for all humanity," he said.
Justina Steiner was in awe of the painting.
"The mural itself is just gorgeous and the colors and vibrant... and just the story depictions are really, really thought provoking," Steiner observed. "Especially the end with the coming back of Jesus and the Lion and the Lamb… Yea, it's really awesome."
Solveson calls the artistic style 'impressionistic realism.' Her favorite scene? The Resurrection.

"Because Miriam, she thought this was the gardener and she said, 'Where did you put His body? And He spoke her name and she had this love relationship with him. That's the kind of relationship I have with him," she told CBN News.

"But I also love the scene with the Lamb because it's not a traditional Calvary scene, -- it's a scene, it's a scene with the Passover Lamb, like when John the Baptist said, 'Behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world,'" she said.
Solveson found inspiration from her own transformed life.
"Inspiration is a four letter word, L-O-V-E," she explained. "Really because of the Lord who did for me what I could not do for myself--He took me out of this pit. He put a song in my mouth, a paintbrush in my hand and he said, 'You're going to live.'"
"It's really a love story for all people, from all over the world," she concluded.

A Rushing Torrent

Psalm 126:4
Restore our fortunes, O Lord, like the streams in the Negev.     NIV

There’s a prayer from God’s people for restoration. The picture there is very vivid, if you’re familiar with the Negev. The word that’s translated “streams” in Arabic is a wadi. A wadi is something special that’s found mainly in the Middle East. It’s a riverbed, which is dry most of the year. You can see that water has flowed in it, but when rain has not fallen within a few days it dries up and you just have the evidence that water once flowed in it.

And so God’s people there in that prayer view themselves like one of those dry riverbeds in the Negev, the desert of the south of Israel. But their prayer is that God will restore them like the streams in the Negev. Such a vivid picture, because at certain seasons when there’s rainfall in the Negev it comes copiously, abundantly, and in a few hours what was a dry riverbed is transformed into an overflowing, torrential stream that sweeps everything before it, sometimes washing away bridges, even causing serious accidents, washing cars away so that where just a few hours previously there was nothing but dust and dryness, there’s a rushing torrent.

And their inspired prayer is that God would restore His people like that stream in the Negev – that though we’ve been dry and dusty without much evidence of water, suddenly God is going to visit us and send such a visitation of His Spirit that it will be like a rushing torrent that will sweep all obstacles before it.

Seasons, Numbers & Time - Now Think On This by Steve Martin

Seasons, Numbers & Time

Now Think On This
Steve Martin

“Now Jacob loved Rachel; so he said, "I will serve you seven years for Rachel your younger daughter." And Laban said, "It is better that I give her to you than that I should give her to another man. Stay with me." So Jacob served seven years for Rachel, and they seemed only a few days to him because of the love he had for her.” (Genesis 29:18-20 NKJV)

In an earlier message I wrote on numbers, and shared how the Lord pays close attention to numbers. He is exact in His attempt to teach us His ways. He uses numbers in every aspect of our life, beginning with the date we are born, the length of years we live; even with the sunrise and sunset, as the heavens daily declare His glory and presence all around us.

He is the God of all, who delights in order and organized systems. As is quite the opposite of our enemy, our God has set plans, purposes and alignments. He is not chaotic, disorderly, or confused. He knows Who He is, what He is, and how He reveals Himself to us. I AM is His Name, high above all.

So how do seasons and numbers come into play? All throughout Scripture, from Genesis 1:1 to the end of the Book at the Revelation of Jesus 22:21, we can see how orderly the Living God of Israel operates. That is the way He is. The seasons He gives to us on this earth, and the times which are numbered and also laid out for us, can draw us closer to Him, when we realize just how interested and concerned He is, with seasons, numbers and time.

When I looked up just the number seven in the concordance, I was amazed at the quantity of Scriptures which that number alone is found in. One such verse, which I included in the beginning of this message, as stated in the Torah, is written, “Jacob served seven years for Rachel, and they seemed only a few days to him because of the love he had for her.” (Genesis 29:20 NKJV – and then Jacob had to work yet another seven years after that – Gen. 29:30!)

Do you think the Lord knew that one set of seven years, and then another, were in store for Jacob?  Do you think God the Father just let it happen to His servant, one of the three main Patriarchs of the Jews, while He attended to other concerns in the vast universe? I don’t think so. As in my life, I believe the Lord knows exactly our times and seasons, and wants us to seek Him to know them too. He wants to further reveal Himself to us, day in and day out.

“…and He made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined their appointed times and the boundaries of their habitation, that they would seek God, if perhaps they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us; for in Him we live and move and exist…” (Acts 17:26-28 NASU)

Speaking of the number seven, I know it is an important one in the Lord’s counting system. Seven represents completeness and perfection. If you do a Bible study on that specific number, you will see what, where and how the Lord has used it.

In my own life, I have looked back at the increments of seven years in my life, and how those years have brought a completion of one season and the start of another. Often a major family move occurred. I can definitely see the hand of the Lord in it all.

Just going back to 1973 – my high school graduation year – was a clear end of one segment of my life, and the start of another. Then in August of 1980, our family moved from Illinois to Michigan, to begin a new life with a church in East Lansing (Shiloh Fellowship, later New Covenant Christian Church). It also meant a new job, new house, and new friends.

In 1987, seven years later to the exact month (August) we moved to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, as I started my new position with Derek Prince Ministries, assisting Mahesh Chavda Ministries in my extra time.

Seven years later, in 1994, again in the summer, we moved with Mahesh Chavda Ministries to Charlotte, NC. See how cleverly I planned all this out???!! No. It was the Lord Who did it!

In 2001, yet another seven year segment later, I was back at Derek Prince Ministries, who had also moved to Charlotte from Florida, in the mid 1990’s.

So what happened in 2008? I was in the exact middle of five years of service as the USA Director of Vision For Israel (Barry & Batya Segal). Little did I know, I was in preparation for our own ministry, that of Love For His People, which wasn’t even in my mind at that time. But it was in the heart of my Father. And He had been preparing me for it all those 24 years serving other ministries.

For me, 2017 will complete yet another seven years - from the time Love For His People was founded in April of 2010. I am believing another major marker in my life history will be laid down, and the start of a new season in the Lord.

What about you? Have you ever gone back and looked at your life, noting certain years and what natural and spiritual events occurred, as the Lord was directing your steps? Take time and do it. I think you will be amazed, and give glory to God for His hand on your head, as He directed your feet, whether you realized it or not.

We serve a great God, the Maker of the Universe. The heavenlies, immense star systems, thousands of galaxies and beyond, all speak of Him and His divine order. And yet, with all that, He has ordained our specific times and seasons.

Let Him show you just how He has also done so in your life. I think you will be very grateful, and give thanks for His love.

Now think on this, in the love of Jesus,

LOVE FOR HIS PEOPLE FEATURED BOOK

Paperback $5.95  Kindle $1.99

Throughout our lives, God keeps His hand on our shoulders and nudges us on to more than what we could ever realize. I am excited to share how He did it this with me, and am confident mine will be a story you’ll be able to relate to.

As I unveil my story, think back to those times when you knew there was some¬thing more but you just couldn’t put your finger on it. You knew deep down that life wasn’t what the TV sitcoms portrayed it to be. In our souls there is the hope, the cry for more, that someday questions will be answered and promises fulfilled if we just kept plugging away at what we know to do.

In The Promise I share my 40 year journey with you, and show you that dreams do come true. Though Peter Pan isn’t real, the Lord, the One Who created us, certainly is, and He has a plan in place for each one of us. When you are done reading this story, my prayer is that you too will know more of that good plan and His purpose for you.

The Word of the Lord Shall Come Forth From Jerusalem - Now Think On This by Steve Martin

The Word of the Lord
Shall Come Forth From Jerusalem

Now Think On This
Steve Martin

“And many peoples will come and say, "Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob; that He may teach us concerning His ways and that we may walk in His paths. For the law will go forth from Zion and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.”
(Isaiah 2:3 NASU)

The Word of the Lord shall again come forth from Jerusalem. The very place where the Lord God of Israel chose, of all the places on earth He could have chosen, is the land of Israel, Eretz Yisrael. His Word will again go forth in power and truth from that very location. In our day.

I like how The Message also states the verse above, as I have included more verses in order to get a fuller picture of what the prophet Isaiah proclaimed centuries ago. This very Word of the Lord is coming forth in our time, directly from the land of Israel.

“The message Isaiah got regarding Judah and Jerusalem: “There's a day coming when the mountain of God's House will be The Mountain — solid, towering over all mountains. All nations will river toward it, people from all over set out for it. They'll say, "Come, let's climb God's Mountain, go to the House of the God of Jacob. He'll show us the way he works so we can live the way we're made."

Zion's the source of the revelation. God's Message comes from Jerusalem. He'll settle things fairly between nations. He'll make things right between many peoples. They'll turn their swords into shovels, their spears into hoes. No more will nation fight nation; they won't play war anymore. Come, family of Jacob, let's live in the light of God.” (Isaiah 2:1-5, THE MESSAGE)

I have become more attuned in recent years to those Jews whom the Lord has chosen, saved and now set in place, as teachers in the Body of Christ, the Body of Messiah. These are ones who even more so are prophetically and accurately speaking to the nations. From their lineage, history, culture and with a deeper, fuller understanding of the Scriptures, these ones get it, and are giving it. And now they are the ones chosen by the Lord to proclaim it to all the nations.

They are the Messianic Jews, or “believers” as some of them prefer to be simply called.

As I look back at the great Bible teachers in my lifetime, men such as Derek Prince, Bob Mumford, Charles Simpson and several others, I have realized that these were (still) all Gentiles. The Holy Spirit had anointed them with the gift of teaching, and they did an excellent job, equipped with the understanding and knowledge having been given to them. They had brought us thus far.

But now, as the days of the Gentiles are waning, the years of the Jewish believers are coming on strong. It is as it has been prophesied.

As Yeshua (Jesus) Himself proclaimed and prophesied, “And they (the Jews) will fall by the edge of the sword, and be led away captive into all nations. And Jerusalem will be trampled by Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.” (Luke 21:24 NKJV)

The time of that time is now.

In 1967 the nation of Israel, the Jews, once again took rightful control and ownership of all of Jerusalem, as they were the victors during the Six Day War over the millions of Arabs who had surrounded them. Not since 70 A.D, when the Roman General Titus destroyed Jerusalem, and in particular the Jewish Second Temple (which was standing on what is today the Temple Mount), did the Jews possess this sacred parcel of land - the very land which the Lord Himself had said He had put His name on it. Forever. For all eternity.

Scripture says, “…in the house of which the Lord had said to David and to Solomon his son, "In this house and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, I will put My name forever; and I will not make the feet of Israel wander anymore from the land which I gave their fathers — only if they are careful to do according to all that I have commanded them, and according to all the law that My servant Moses commanded them." (2 Kings 21:7-8 NKJV)

The Jews were scattered throughout the earth as it been so prophesied. During the days of King David and King Solomon (Jewish kings), the Jewish prophets were speaking of return. And then, since the days of the Roman (Gentile) rule over this land, when the Romans drove them out, scattering the rightful inhabitants of the land, the Jews, to the wind, Gentile kingdoms ruled over the land. For these past 2000 years, Gentiles had “trampled” the land.

But that has now come to an end. Again, as historically written, and proclaimed in Luke 21:24 by the Messiah Himself, Yeshua, Jesus Christ, these times of the Gentiles were coming to an end at some point in time. That time has now been fulfilled, since that historical triumph at the Kotel, the Western Wall, in 1967. It ended the Gentile rule.

It is now the appointed, prophesied time for the Jewish believers to take the lead, to be the ones taking charge. They shall be doing the proclaiming and teaching.

As I understand it prophetically now, Yeshua-believing Jews are now the primary ones we should be looking to, as they are being raised up to bring forth the Word of the Lord from His Land. Those Jewish teachers and prophets from the group of Messianics, the Jewish believers in Yeshua HaMashiach. They will have the most current word for the nations. They do even now.

I have found myself listening and learning more and more from Messianic Jewish Bible teachers and prophets in these past years, than from any other teachers of the Word. Men like Jonathan Cahn, Barry Segal, Joel Rosenberg, Peter Wyns, Michael Brown, Warren Marcus, Sid Roth, Ron Cantor, Sam Nadler, Chuck Cohen, Scott Volk, Jonathan Bernis, Aviel Schneider, Richard and Carolyn Hyde and many more.

Though not all of these fore mentioned men of the Lord are currently living in Israel (not yet), they are Jews, believers in Yeshua, who are expounding on the full Word of the Lord, from Genesis to Revelation. Their understanding of the Jewish prophets, from Moses through Micah, is beyond any of that which Gentile teachers have understood thus far. They have been given the fuller package.

Ruach HaKodesh (Hebrew), the Holy Spirit, has once again chosen the Jews to bring forth the Lord’s word from Zion, and specifically from the Jewish city of Jerusalem.

I encourage you to watch them on TV, get their emails, read their websites, and subscribe to their YouTube messages. You will be blessed if you also pray for them, and give financial support (out of your wallet, checkbook or credit card!) for their ministries. My good wife Laurie and I certainly do, and have been for over a decade.

Since the first days of the church, beginning in Acts with Peter, James, John, Paul - or should we call them by their Hebrew/Jewish names (Peter was Shimon, James was Yakov, John was Yocahanan, Bartholomew was Bar-Talmai, and Paul was Saul) – Jewish believers have once again been gifted with His word, to be proclaimed in the nations now.

The Jewish prophets proclaimed this would happen. Our Savior Yeshua affirmed it. We are living in the times of the end when it is happening now. What a blessed people we are – the One New Man of Jews and Gentile believers!

I encourage you to listen and learn from them. I believe they have been given the NOW word, for these days and times the world has entered.

The marathon baton has been given back to our Messianic Jewish brothers, for this final sprint, to take the lead in telling the world of the good news of Messiah Yeshua, Jesus Christ.

Now think on this,
