Let Your Past Launch You: "Someone Needs Your Testimony" - Dr. Theresa Phillips

Let Your Past Launch You:
"Someone Needs Your Testimony"

Your Difficult Past Can Be Used Positively For Both Your Present and Your Future

My death story: In 1977, I was quite ill... critically ill! I had had my gall bladder removed and somehow later, I ended up back in the hospital with a pancreatic attack. Then the hospital didn't pay attention to my drug allergy. Subsequently, they gave me the wrong medication and I died, yes, died! I had the most amazing journey – one that changed me forever.

I'm sharing because I want to see you edified by REMEMBERING that your past can be used positively for both your present and your future!

After I was given the medication, the shift changed and a nurse came in and gave it to me again. That is when I flatlined the first time. At that time, I had left my body and saw myself on the bed, and I saw no one was doing anything about it. My secretary Karen was in the room. The nurse was stunned and she didn't know what to do.
I came back into my body and said to my secretary, Karen, who was in the room, "Go get a doctor, I'm dying!"
The nurse laughed. It wasn't funny! I left my body a second time and saw myself lying there. I got very angry and went back into my body and yelled at Karen, "Get me a doctor, I'm dying! Or I'm not coming back. I'm dead, Karen, dead!"(Photo via Pixabay)

The nurse was thinking I was having a hallucination. I knew differently. Karen knew differently too. She was going to listen to her pastor and ran out of the room to get help, yelling for a doctor. Thank GOD one came! But I was gone, again.

The third time I died, I left my body and took a journey. I was somehow standing with a crowd, ready to board a train. Thousands were ready to board the train, which was as long as the eye could see. The train was heading east. I was being shoved from behind to go forward, when suddenly a hand came from nowhere. This hand had a hole above the wrist, and a voice so clear and bold said to me, "No!" The train passed, and I was left staring at an ancient stone wall.

I was then translated futuristically to a moment in time – to my own grave site. I was lying in my grave when I looked up and saw my family, especially my son, uncontrollably weeping. I was moved for them, so moved for them, forgetting it was me they were weeping over.

I yelled, "Jesus, send me back to a lost and dying world!" And I meant that with all my heart.
Immediately, I was in the room watching the doctors. They had turned my room into an intensive care unit. Good Karen, I thought!

I had had cardiac arrest and flatlined. I had been gone.

Now this time when I entered my body, I felt such enormous pain all over my body, and I knew that the road back was going to be long and hard. BUT I had seen a hand, I heard a voice, and I had made a decision. I was really sick and weak, BUT I was there. I came back, and this time I stayed.

An Awakening – "Please Send Me!"

Today I was reminded of that time in my life. It seems so long ago, but still as near as NOW. There were no headlines, no invites to share. Just what it was... just an incident that allowed me to be in a place and a fragment of time during this due course when He was deciding my future, whatever that would be.

Now, all these years later, I feel as if I am waking from a deep sleep of a long-ago, miraculous memory. I know many others are as well who are in the magnitude of circumstances of uncontrollable, destructive epochs. So many troubles, so many worries, so many wondering, so many...

Desperate times call for desperate measures and developing desperate people. During such times, we see a lot of competition, dissension, and confusion. The moments of hopeful, supernatural increase and resurrections seem to idle by. Hope deferred makes the heart sick (Proverbs 13:12). These days are long, hard, and unknowing...

BUT, I am being reminded that I died, and somehow a NOW moment in time has caused me to revisit that time in my life and pick up a promise I made to a "lost and dying world": PLEASE SEND ME! (Photo via Pixabay)

Well, the long-ago memory is here. It never left, BUT now I have a brand new awakening toward the lost, the dying, and the world. And today I begin to weep like Rachel for her children:
"This is what the LORD says: 'A voice is heard in Ramah, mourning and great weeping, Rachel weeping for her children and refusing to be comforted, because they are no more'" (Jeremiah 31:15).

I am weeping because of all the people who are hurting, who are confused, who are desperate. I sensed today I was weeping with GOD over His children.

Prophetic Word of the Lord, "I Am Digging Your Well"

And now I'm being prompted by Holy Spirit to tell you all: Search your data bank in all the recesses of your mind. Where is the promise? It's still alive, and GOD is revisiting that well of the promise you made a long time ago. So often we remind Him of His promises; He is now reminding us of ours, how we responded when that time came, but yet somehow we let it slip away. He is breathing again on that time in our lives.

Yes, God is calling us to search our hearts and live again that visitation that first catapulted us into His presence so we might carry on once more. He is revisiting us to enjoy the excitement and expectations as when we were first saved. A fresh new realm of excitement is brewing. It's like being born again, AGAIN! I was jumping for joy! "Thank You, Jesus!" I was shouting. "I'm feeling it!"

Then suddenly (I love suddenness), I heard Him begin to speak to me! He was visiting me, repeating a word that I've prophesied before. But there is a new wind blowing on it. It's a NOW word!

"You, the older generation, YOU are coming forth! O yes, you are! You are coming with experience to share with many. I am visiting you as I did in the powers of your youth, and I am giving you a supernatural strength and vitality that you thought were gone. I am even slimming you down; I'm taking off the weights that have kept you down. (Photo via Pixabay)

"There have been words spoken over you that your time is over, to make way for the next generation. But I am going to use you, YES I AM!" says the LORD. "Yes, many will listen this time. They will listen, for they do not have the WISDOM you have had, or your experiences. I am digging your well.

"You, younger generation, YOU will begin once again to REMEMBER and long for those defining moments of someone's life that impacted you. Yes, a longing of what was will develop fresh and new. You will long to know what is to BE. Yes, to the younger ones, I will place in your heart the desire to get to the teachers, the prophets, and the apostolic mantles that have been over the evangelist and the pastor. You will seek out teachers and elders who will equip you to go forth, for your days of just doing will come to an abrupt end. Suddenly your heart will GROW in wisdom and knowledge," says the Lord, "for I am going to give the elders some divine strategies, and you will carry them out. Get up and pray for your direction," says the Lord.

God Says, "Someone Needs Your Testimony!"

God is visiting His people. As these days of old are revisited, He will give you divine encounters with your past, because you will now be healed from the past, and it will no longer affect you.The past will launch you. Divine revelation and purpose once again!

As the Spirit of the Lord began to soften me, I was able to move on in my thinking. Then I was reminded that while I was recovering from the awful illness I had suffered from, I had asked Jesus, "Why did You allow me to go through that?" I even gave Him my spiritual resume of how good I was, and that therefore this should not be happening to me.

His answer was, "I didn't do this. You didn't do this. It happened, BUT I'm trusting you to come through with a testimony to share and strengthen My people." Well, that made it almost bearable. Now, all these years later, I am writing about it. And I pray I am encouraging you!

I began to thank Him for bringing me through, when I heard these words clearly, as if a BOOM had come into my room: "I am trusting you to have a testimony that will strengthen others, impact others, give hope to others, and comfort others."

Then, I heard in the silence, and it was almost shocking, "DO NOT GIVE UP," says the Lord."Do not give UP!" Jesus says, "Don't give up; it's a new day, a new season, and a new way of learning. Your testimony is important. Someone needs your testimony!" (Photo by Tawny Nelson)

They triumphed over him (the one who kills steals and destroys) by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death. Revelation 12:11, note mine

As I pray for you, please pray for others as well:
Dear Lord Jesus, I surrender my past both to my present and my future. Visit me NOW with the remembrance of what I had promised. I am repentant of forgetting and not doing. I am willing to say that because of a new day.

Dear Jesus, by Your precious Holy Spirit, allow me to move forward and grow into a moment in time, to obtain the NOW, to be all You have called me to be. I release my past, my confusion, my weariness, and all that has made me unsure about today and my place in it.

I thank You that You can redeem the time and give us another chance. I am willing to make it a new and forever change day by day.

I know, O Lord, the days are evil, but I choose to shun evil and walk in the uprightness of Your Word and Your purpose You have for me; with the guidance of the elders and Your precious Holy Spirit I can do this. In Jesus' name I pray, amen.

GRANDSON ISAIAH'S DEPARTURE - Morris Ruddick

Next to knowing Jesus, one of the greatest factors impacting my life has been my grandchildren. The evening before Christmas our ten year old grandson Isaiah was unexpectedly swept into eternity.

Isaiah was ten. He was very bright and very active and very loving. He lived close by
and was a special joy to us and to many others.

Despite his short life, he will be remembered for his big heart and the sensitivity he had for other people. The principal of his public school summed it up by saying that when he was having a bad day, out of the 1000 kids in his school, he consciously would look for Isaiah because he knew Isaiah would brighten his day. One of his former teachers observed that Isaiah was "a spiritual boy" because of the way he always seemed to pull the good out of others.

Isaiah was always reaching out to help others. Isaiah had a gift and he was a gift.

Isaiah's life illustrates what for me has been a shift over the years of what makes for what we typically regard as being a "spiritual giant."

His loss clearly punctuates the seriousness of the times. We've never had any illusions about the spiritual realities tied to the calling we're walking out. Yet, as good stewards, we keep our hands to the plow and dig in more now than ever before.

As I've sought the Lord during our grieving, I've been drawn to the end of Hebrews 11 and the beginning of chapter 12. It points to those, who having stood in faith, did not receive what they had expected, at least not in their earthly lives.

The reason that this passage gives is tied to something better the Lord had in mind, for us and for them, simultaneously noting that apart from us they would not be made perfect.

The truth that this passage points to is deep. It pushes us beyond the ordinary grasp of the natural mind. Yet it points to the fact that His ways are higher than our ways. It unveils a role and a connection that we share beyond the realm of time -- that impacts eternity.

This passage then admonishes us: since our role in this eternal drama has drawn such a great cloud of witnesses, to lay aside every encumbrance and entanglement, and to run with endurance the race that is set before us. Jesus set the example with the price He paid on the cross. With our eyes on Him and the example He paid, we are not to grow weary, to stumble or lose heart.

In the last 18 years we have lost two of our children and now two of our grandchildren. In each category, one was an adult and one a child. While we know that Isaiah is walking the streets of gold, the abruptness of his departure has been a challenge. It is his gain and our loss, so we are reaching hard for the Lord and the recovery that only time allows.

Life is filled with good and bad. As pointed to in the biblical story of Job, when evil overwhelms, there is a simplicity in the response: to reach even harder in knowing the Lord. The Psalmist (Ps 86:11) summed it up: "Unite my heart to fear Your Name."

Spiritually, there is a turning underway. Despite the evil all around, there is an incredible anticipation of what is to be expected from the hand of the Lord. We will be returning to Vietnam in late January as we expand the efforts with our friends in Vietnam, who have become like family to us.

I pray that this next year will be a good year for you. I pray for you as I pray for myself and my bride and for each member of my family impacted by Isaiah's departure, that the Lord would help us each to have an undivided heart, as the Psalmist describes, so that we can truly know Him as we walk out this pathway of life in these challenging days.

Thank you for your part with your prayers and your investments in our role in equipping and mobilizing the least of these our brethren. It all relates to that "something better" described in Hebrews that the Lord has in mind. It's making a difference for them, for us, and for eternity.

May the Lord grant you fresh vision and prosper you in each of your own initiatives. May His richest blessings and shalom be multiplied upon you.

In His love and ours,

Must Listen! Myles Munroe's Prophetic Warning Before Dying

Must Listen! Myles Munroe's Prophetic Warning Before Dying

The Christian community around the world is still reeling from the loss of well-known pastor and teacher Dr. Myles Munroe.
Munroe, his wife-and co-pastor Ruth Munroe, and seven others were killed when the private plane they were traveling in crashed near Grand Bahama International Airport, Nov.9.
Munroe founded and led the Bahamas Faith Ministries International Fellowship.
In July 2014, just four months before his death, the prominent evangelical leader delivered a prophecy about people dying within the year and a shift in Christian leadership in the Bahamas.
Meanwhile, celebration services for Dr. Munroe and his wife will be held on Dec. 3. The official funeral service for the Munroes will be held on Dec. 4 at Bahamas Faith Ministries International Diplomat Center.

“I want to challenge every Kenyan to go to the cemetery and disappoint the graveyard. Die like the Apostle Paul who said I have finished my course, I have kept the faith and I have been poured out like a drink offering. There is nothing left. I am ready to die. That’s how I wanna die because there is nothing else for me left to die.”
“You weren’t born just to live a life and to die, you were born to accomplish something specifically,” he said. “Matter of fact, success is making it to the end of your purpose, that is success. … Success is not just existing, success is making it to the end of why you were born.”
He also discussed the human lifespan and making the most of one’s life.
“The value of life is not in its duration, but in its donation. You are not important because of how long you live, you are important because of how effective you live. And most people are concerned about growing old rather than being effective,” he said in 2003. “The people who have impacted the world didn’t live long. Martin Luther King. John F. Kennedy. These people who impact the world were not old people, but they lived so effectively that we cannot erase them from history.”
BRILLIANT till the end…and even then, being dead he yet is still speaking!

Ex-KKK Wizard Turned Christian Evangelist Dies

Ex-KKK Wizard Turned Christian Evangelist Dies

People across the world are remembering evangelist Rev. Johnny Lee Clary, a former imperial wizard of the Klu Klux Klan who experienced a radical conversion to Christianity.
Clary, 55, died of a heart attack Oct. 21.
CBN spoke to the evangelist in 2011 about his journey to becoming a Christian after years of hating blacks and other minority groups. Watch his story below.
He said he felt compelled to give his life to the Lord after reading Luke 15, the story of the prodigal son.
"I finally got on my knees and said, 'God, my life is screwed up. God, I'm in a mess. I need Your help," he recalled. "I felt like a new person, brand new creation. I felt like I had had a weight lifted off my shoulders."
In becoming a Christian, Clary learned how to love and live in unity with all people. He became the first Caucasian elder in the Church of God in Christ, a predominantly African-American denomination.
Clary is survived by his wife, Melissa (Edwards) Clary of Baton Rouge, his brother Larry of Colorado, brother Terry, sister Sandy and a daughter Savannah all from Oklahoma.
He passed away in his home in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
A funeral service will be Tuesday, Oct. 28 at Family Worship Center, 8919 Ministry Ave., Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The service begins at 11 a.m.

When You Think God is Wrong by Ann Graham Lotz

When You Think God is Wrong

by Ann Graham Lotz

Identity Network
Even when there is no explanation for what you're going through, God's love is more than enough for your need.
Mary and Martha, whose story is told in the Gospel of John, must have asked the same question as they struggled to understand why Jesus hadn't intervened to heal their brother, Lazarus. They had sent for Jesus to come, and when He didn't come quickly, they probably assumed He didn't care.
And now, even though Jesus had finally come, it was too late. Lazarus had died.
Mary crumbled, sobbing, at the feet of Jesus. As she lay with her shoulders shaking and her chest heaving, wracked with pain that was too great to bear, the friends who had followed her voiced their own despair over her grief, and they wept too.
At the sight and sound of the poignant scene, Jesus "was deeply moved in spirit and troubled" (John 11:33, NIV). The text indicates He felt more than just grief; He felt anger.
The One We Love is Sick
Several years ago, I received an urgent call from a person who was at the local hospital, telling me that one of my dearest friends was dying. I couldn't believe what I was hearing.
I had spoken with the friend only the day before, and she had been healthy and happy. What could have gone so terribly wrong? As I rushed to the hospital, I kept praying, "Lord, help! The one whom we love is sick - dying!"
When I made my way into the hospital waiting room, I found her extended family huddled in tears and shock. I was told my precious friend had somehow breathed in a virus that had acted like a hand grenade in her body, exploding and destroying her internal organs.
In grief and shock myself, I was urged to go into the chapel, where her husband and children had gathered to pray. As I slipped into the darkened sanctuary and virtually collapsed onto a pew, I heard the whispered prayers and sobs of her loved ones. Then the stifled grief erupted in a chilling, heart-wrenching cry as her son yelled out: "God, it's not right. It's not right! It's just not right!"
Later, when her family made the decision to disconnect her from life support and my beloved friend went to her heavenly home, her son's agonized, angry grief echoed in my ears, and I thought: He was right. This is wrong. Terribly wrong! This was never meant to be.
We were Created to Live
Death was not a part of God's original plan. He created you and me for Himself. He intended for us to live with Him and enjoy Him forever in an uninterrupted, permanent, personal, love relationship.
But sin came into our lives and broke the very relationship with God for which we were created. All of us are affected by this broken relationship because all of us are infected with sin.
When your loved one dies and your grief is tinged with anger, don't direct it toward God. He's angry too. Direct it toward sin and its devastating consequences.
That day in Bethany, as Mary wept and her friends wept with her, a tumult of grief and anger and compassion and empathy welled up in the heart of Jesus. In a voice that must have been choking with emotion, He inquired, "Where have you laid him?"
Those around Him replied gently, "Come and see, Lord" (John 11:34). And when Jesus was invited by the mourners in Bethany to "come and see," He wept! (See vv. 34-35.)
Jesus, the Creator of the universe, the eternal I Am, the Lord of life, knew He was going to raise Lazarus from the dead. Yet One so strong, so powerful, so wise, so human, stood there with tears running down His cheeks! Why? Because He loved those gathered at the tomb so much their grief was His.
Jesus Weeps With You
When my youngest daughter, Rachel-Ruth, was small, she wore long braids as a means of controlling her naturally curly hair, which she hated. I will never forget an incident that followed the visit to our home of a beautiful young woman who had long, sleek, glossy brown hair. As soon as the door closed behind the young woman, Rachel-Ruth ran into the living room, jerking at her braids, tearing at her bangs, covering her face with her hands, and hysterically sobbing, "I hate my hair! My face is so ugly! I'm not pretty at all!"
Not knowing what had triggered this outburst, I just held her and wept with her. I looked up to see my other daughter, Morrow, standing in the doorway, weeping too. We wept because Rachel-Ruth was so distraught, and we loved her. Her torment was our own.
When was the last time you wept into your pillow at night, thinking no one cared? Is the pain so deep and your hurt so great that you cry night after night?
In your misery and loneliness, do you think Jesus is emotionally detached? That He just doesn't care? Or that He's simply too busy to notice? Or that He is callous because He sees a lot of pain that's worse than yours? Or that He couldn't possibly understand how you feel?
Do you know that Jesus weeps with you? Do you know He puts all your tears in a bottle because they are precious to Him? He has said in all of your afflictions, He Himself is afflicted. Why? Because Jesus does understand! And He loves you!
Those who had gathered to support and comfort and help the family of Lazarus observed the famous young Rabbi weeping and concluded, "See how he loved him!" (v. 36). Even though Jesus knew the glory to come and the demonstration of God's power that was about to be displayed, He wept!
He wept because He loved this precious family and they were weeping. Jesus was entering into their suffering, just as many of us entered into His when we repented of our sin, died to ourselves and received Him by faith.
Martha's Faith
The story of Lazarus is the account of perhaps the most magnificent miracle Jesus performed while on Earth. But it is really the story of Martha's faith - and the necessity of placing our faith in Jesus alone if we are to live life triumphantly and experience the greatest miracle of all, that of passing from spiritual death to eternal life as we are born again into the family of God.
Surrounded by a crowd of friends, family and just curious onlookers, Jesus gazed at the scene before Him. I expect Mary and Martha followed His focus, which was fixed on the cave carved out of the hillside that served as Lazarus' burial place. A large stone sealed off the entrance to the tomb.
Martha was jolted out of any grief-filled reverie that preoccupied her thoughts when she heard His familiar voice command quietly but with absolute authority, "Take away the stone" (v. 39). Nothing could have been more appalling to her!
It seemed as if reopening Lazarus' tomb would serve no purpose except to reopen the fresh wound of her heart. How could Jesus say such a thing? How could He even think such a thing?
Martha, with what surely was a look of horrified indignation on her face, blurted out"But Lord ... by this time there is a bad odor, for he has been there four days" (v. 39).
Jesus turned His full gaze onto Martha with a look that melted her resistance and silenced her argument. With patient firmness, He challenged her not only to obedience but also to expectant faith"Did I not tell you that if you believed, you would see the glory of God?" (v. 40).
Something in Martha must have quickened as she saw the intensity in the Lord's eyes. She knew this was no longer the time to talk about it or pray about it or think about it.
The spark of faith was suddenly fanned into flame, and without further question or word, she just did it! She ordered the stone to be rolled away. Simply because He said so. Her obedience, her dependence and her expectance were in Him alone. He was all she had.
With every eye fastened on Him, Jesus boldly, loudly lifted His voice as He prayed: "Father, I thank You that You have heard me. I knew that You always hear me, but I said this for the benefit of the people standing here, that they may believe that You sent Me" (vv. 41-42).Jesus was letting everyone know that if Lazarus was raised, the power to make it happen came from God.
The Voice of the Creator
Then...the same voice that had brought the world into being, the same voice that had called Abraham from Ur, the same voice that had reverberated from Mount Sinai, that same voice thundered, "Lazarus, come out!" (v. 43). The voice of the Creator was commanding into existence that which had no existence!
Every eye must have strained toward the cave, peering into the black hole where the stone had been. And then, out of the deep, shadowy recesses within, there appeared a mummy-like figure"wrapped with strips of linen, and [with] a cloth around his face" (v. 44).
Was there a collective gasp? Or was everyone frozen into place, temporarily paralyzed by the shock of seeing something that just couldn't be?
Dead men don't come back to life! But Lazarus did! At the command of the One who is the Resurrection and the Life, he appeared at the entrance of the tomb.
After all the pain and suffering and anguish and doubt and resentment and misunderstanding and tears, God had answered the sisters' unspoken prayer. Although Jesus had not come when they thought He would, He had restored Lazarus to health.
In His own time and in His own way, God answered abundantly beyond what they could have thought to ask for - beyond their wildest dreams. Their brother was raised from the dead!
At long last, Martha understood. God's purpose was made clear. God's power and glory and love were revealed, and her grief-stricken plea wrenched from their broken hearts was abundantly answered. Jesus was all they needed! Jesus was enough!
And if He could raise Lazarus from the dead after he was in the tomb for four days, is there anything He cannot do for you or me? What miracle do you think is beyond His power to accomplish?
When you don't understand why, just trust Him!
Don't wallow in your "whys." Don't throw a pity party or remain in your misery. Understand that you may not understand this side of heaven.
Respect God's silences. Claim through your own experience ... the blessing that follows brokenness, the life that follows death and the glory that follows suffering!
Trust God to sort it all out in the end. He can break the bonds of your suffering - now! Trust Him! He will bring you through.
