"Are You Called to the Nations? Here Are Keys Just For You!"
Darren Canning, Ontario, Canada

A Trip Around the World

As I write you, I am sitting here at the beginning of a big trip around the world. Over the next month I will completely circumvent the globe. It is an amazing adventure that God is bringing me on. I will be ministering in five nations, but will be landing and praying in four more. In thirty-two days I will have been in 9 nations and have ministered about two dozen times.

This isn't the first time that I have undergone such a journey, and it isn't even my first time doing it alone. I have become accustomed to it – the sense of loneliness that you endure as you are preparing to depart from your family. I look each of my children in the eyes and tell them I love them and that although I am going to be gone for a while, I will still be coming home. My greatest joy is spending time with my family, so for me to leave them is a great sacrifice.

The only reason I would do what I do is because I have been convinced by God that it is my destiny to do it. I am possessed by the Holy Spirit who has filled me with the power and grace to do what I am called to do.

The Challenges of Global Ministry

I am not naive, and I know there will be some challenges that will come my way as I travel. There have been times in the field when I just want to give up and go home.

I am thankful for modern technology, but there have been times when I haven't even been able to rely on it during my travels. My cell phone is only as good as the networks within the countries that I go to.

During my travels, most of the western and Asian countries have been an awesome experience for me, but there have been times that I've had to deal with lapses in being able to contact home and my intercessors. Having an intercessory team that prays for me is like a lifeline when challenges occur!

Walking in Faith and Perseverance

These trips are all about walking in faith. I have seen God move time and time again. He provides for me all the time in such marvelous ways. My expectations of how He will provide are not always guaranteed, and in those moments I can get a little stressed. That is when I am glad to have prayer warriors surrounding me who pray and ask the Lord to bring breakthrough! The team that surrounds me is excellent, and they hear the Lord for me when my stress is too high to hear.

If you haven't walked into the nations not knowing how God is going to provide, it can be unsettling. In my heart of hearts I know everything is going to work out, but hearing from God daily strengthens my perseverance to do what He has called me to do.

Releasing God's Word

Preaching the Gospel boldly is what He has called us to do. There are times when I am in the field and the boldness of the Holy Spirit comes upon me, and I begin to feel a word arise inside of me. I have no idea if that word is going to be received, but I have no choice but to release it.

Many of you know this from experience; you have felt the pulse of the word. When you feel it and when you release it there can be a difference, and feeling a word and releasing a word can be tricky. You have to speak it, but how you speak it is very important. For instance, some cultures don't understand the language that you use, so you often have to say it over and over again.

Our Greatest Strategy: Speaking the Truth

In the nations, time and time again, I have had to deal with powers and principalities over regions. It is a part of what we do. The powers do not want you there. It is as simple as that. I always try to be humble, but when I feel a demonic force in the room I don't bow to it. A power will manifest in many ways and you have to rightly discern it, and in discerning it you have to seek the Holy Spirit for a strategy to overcome.

There is no greater strategy than to simply preach the Word of God. If there is a stronghold of hate then preach love. If there is a stronghold of depression and anxiety, then preach joy. If there is a stronghold of poverty then preach the riches of Heaven. The strongholds will always come down! They have no choice. Every power must bow to the name of Jesus. When you see the lie, speak the truth, and those who are captive to the lie, when they hear the truth, will be set free. Pray that their ears and eyes will be open!

Trust in the Lord, Not Your Outward Appearance

Many will judge you. They will look at your outward appearance and they will not think much of you. You cannot dress or speak in such a way to impress them. If your strength is in your outward appearance when you open your mouth to speak, you will sound like a fool.

Trust in the Lord and He will give you the right words to say. You will be like Ezekiel who spoke to the power of death over that lonely valley and resurrection power raised an entire valley.

Give More Than What You Take

On every trip you will meet wonderful people. These souls will leave you longing to go back to the places time and time again. You will cry with them and you will laugh with them. You will see miracles together and you will see warfare together. You have challenges and you will have victories. Persevere with them and love them. Do not let the darkness over them become the darkness over you, but let your light so shine that you become contagious with joy! God will use you to bring revival everywhere you go – just go!

I could write so much more but I will finish here for today. Always remember that in each meeting, what you do has deeper meaning than the poster you developed for it. If all you are is a famous face to the people and not the true person God created you to be, then don't be surprised when they don't receive you. When it comes to giving, we must always give more than what we take!

Walk on Water - Now Think On This by Steve Martin

Walk on Water

Steve Martin

“Peter said to Him, "Lord if it is You, command me to come to You on the water." And He said, "Come!" And Peter got out of the boat, and walked on the water and came toward Jesus.” (Matthew 14:28-29, NASU)

Someday I too will walk on water.

So will you.

We may not have the faith for it now, but we will. The Lord will get us to that point when our trust level in Him is so high that even as He spoke the word clearly to Peter, “Come to Me”, we too will get out of the boat and walk to Him, on water. Because it will be necessary.

Notice He didn’t ask Peter to come only if he thought he could. He simply said, “Come” and expected Peter to obey.

I believe too that the Lord didn't need Peter to come to Him just for the fun of it. He was giving Peter another opportunity to teach him to further trust. For down the road, when the going got really tough, Peter would look back and remember that it was possible to believe in the Lord and put his trust in Him. And yes, if even for just a moment, even if slightly, Peter did walk on water.

After the resurrection, he would speak to thousands and see them get saved. His faith had grown.

Let us not despise those times when we wonder why the Lord asks us to do simple acts of obedience. As all tests go, they have to be passed in order to be elevated or advanced onto the next grade level.

As I drove down the road to visit a friend, having hurt himself in a golf cart accident (and he wasn’t golfing at that!) I was praying in tongues and asking the Lord about the faith we need each day, sometimes just to do what it takes to get things done for that day.

The Holy Spirit’s response to me is what initiated this message.

In my mind came His word, “You may not have faith for all that I have planned for you to do yet. But the time will come, as you are faithful now to grow in the faith you have, little by little. Then you will have the required faith for when I will ask you to walk on water.”

I believe that. You can too. He gives to each of us according to our faith, which can enlarge.

We can come up with all kinds of excuses why we can’t hear and obey the Lord, and yet, in His patience with us, He puts us in situations where we just need to trust Him – have faith – and see Him respond with the provision, direction, and wisdom. And then our faith grows more.

Looking back, as you grew up, you faced challenges that at the time you said to yourself and probably others, “No way can I ride a bike.” “No way can I drive a car.” “No way can I play that instrument.” “No way can I move to another city, state or country.”

And what happened? You learned how to do it. His grace enabled you to get up, get out, get on with what had to happen, so you could move up, move out, and move on in His plans and purposes for your life. Those things now come naturally for you. That is how faith grows.

Paul writes in 1 Corinthians 13:11-12 (NKJV), “When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things. For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known.”

We begin as children, both in the natural and spiritual, and we grow into the things of an adult. As we walk with the Lord day by day, with our eyes fixed on Him (kind of like those Texans who keep “fixin’” to do things…), we do as in Hebrews 12:2 we are instructed to do. Keeping our eyes fixed on Jesus. Every day.

The time is coming, and for some, it has already, where your very next move will be critical for a life or death situation. If you have not been growing in your faith, focusing on the Lord Jesus, then will you be ready when it does happen? When He asks you to walk on water, possibly to escape something deadly serious, or to help another in their crisis, will you have trusted in Him up to that point already, and be able to step out and accomplish the challenge?

Get ready to walk on water.

Shalom and ahava (peace and love in Hebrew).

"Are You Praying God's Way?" Bill Yount, The Elijah List

March 14, 2019

"Are You Praying God's Way?"
Bill Yount, Hagerstown, MD

Intro from Bill Yount:

Steve ShultzI have rediscovered a missing part of my prayer life. It's been years since I tasted it. It's when you pray and there's a sweet release of its burden with no need to pray any further because you have God's peace on it. I believe many are praying themselves into depression over their families and nations. This kind of praying is not Scriptural. I believe our prayer time should result in unspeakable joy.

I want to share this word that I released in 2015. I now remember the missing ingredient that I had forgotten with all the warfare raging against us. I believe it's Heaven's protocol for prayer. (To Subscribe to the Elijah List subscribe here.)

"Are You Praying God's Way?"
Bill Yount, Hagerstown, MD

I released this word a few years ago, but I believe it is so needed now. With all the praying are we praying God's way?

Return to Sender!

In the Spirit, I saw many prayers ascending upward toward the throne. I sensed that many of these prayers were being prayed according to the Father's perfect will. Many were prayers for gifts, callings, and destinies to be manifested. A majority were bundles of prayers for the lost, especially for family members. Many of these prayer requests were made up of strong cries day and night, and with fasting, that had become heavy burdens on hearts over the years.

As these prayers began to ascend, they seemed to go only so far and then would drop back down to Earth as though they were bouncing off the ceiling from where they were being prayed. I saw in Heaven something like a huge "heavenly post office," where prayer requests are received and where answers to prayers are sent out. At the entrance of this "heavenly post office" there was a front door on which was written, in gigantic letters, the Scripture found in Philippians 4:6, "Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with 'thanksgiving' let your request be made known unto God!" (emphasis added).

As huge bundles of prayer requests came through the front door on the way to the throne room, I was appalled by how many requests were being stopped and never made it to the throne for answers. I heard a voice that shook me. An angelic postmaster general proclaimed, "These prayer requests have no 'postage' on them. Return to sender!"

In the Spirit I saw these huge bundles of prayer requests like letters that had no postage stamps on them. These could go no farther! The ones I did see going on into the throne room to be answered had postage stamps of "thanksgiving" on them. These ones became "priority" mail inside the throne room, and immediate confirmation of peace was sent to the sender with the following verse: "And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus" (Philippians 4:7).

Before the answer of these prayers were manifested on Earth, the people that sent their requests with thanksgiving were receiving the assurance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not yet seen. Because of the peace of God, they were receiving through the giving of thanks.

There Can't Be Thanksgiving Until There's Believing

Many prayers for lost loved ones never really reached their "heavenly" destination, not because people weren't praying, but because they simply were not believing that they would receive what they were asking for. Therefore, to be thankful was very difficult for them.
The Lord seemed to say, "Tell My people that many have already prayed and prayed and filled Heaven with their prayers for the lost and their loved ones. They actually need to stop praying and simply believe ME to save them."

"...Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house!" (Acts 16:31 emphasis added)

I sensed the Father saying, "Many are carrying a false responsibility, feeling that they are responsible to get their family members saved. May I remind you that you could not save your own self, and therefore, you cannot save anybody else. And since I saved you, I can save anyone!

Many who were faithfully praying for family members for many years were actually praying themselves into a state of depression. I sense the Spirit saying, "This kind of praying is not Scriptural! Begin to believe and start thanking Me that I am going to save them now. Thank Me that I am going to bring in the lost. Just send up some stamps of 'thanksgiving,' and I will stamp your prayer requests to forward them to the throne.

Start living as though your prayers are already answered!

"As you are thanking Me, go ahead and start treating your lost loved ones as though they are already saved. When you do, your life will become so full of thanksgiving and praise and worship, that you will begin to see My heavenly 'UPS' and 'FED EX' arrive, bringing speedy delivery from Heaven to impossible requests upon the earth. Praise and worship moves Me to do outrageous acts of blessings upon the earth!"

You Will Never See It if You Don't Believe It

I remembered when Peter was put in prison and the church was praying for his deliverance. There was also a prayer meeting going on for Peter in a woman's house. Her name was Mary. As the angel came and delivered Peter, he made a straight run to Mary's house. I believe he felt the power of their prayers.

As Peter knocked on Mary's front door, a handmaiden, Rhoda, answered the door and got so excited, she forgot to let Peter in. Rhoda ran inside that prayer meeting shouting, "Peter is at the front door!" (Acts 12:14). For some reason they didn't seem to hear her. Perhaps someone was giving a strong prophetic utterance about Peter's "soon" release. Again, I can hear Rhoda shouting something like, "Our answered prayer is at the front door. We can stop praying!"

Finally, Rhoda gets the prayer group's attention, and here is the spiritual temperature inside that prayer room – here is what they say to Rhoda: "It is his angel." In other words, "We don't believe it!" (Acts 12:15).

You can pray for a hundred years, but unless you believe that you are going to receive what you are asking for, you will never see it. "Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours" (Mark 11:24 NIV).

I personally believe there are some prayer meetings that need to be broken up. Many churches have prayer meetings, but few have "prayer-believing" meetings. It was easier for Peter to get out of prison than it was for him to get inside that prayer meeting.

Our Thanksgiving Proves Our Faith

Next time you pray, try putting a postage stamp of "thanksgiving" on your request. I promise you, you will enjoy prayer time much more, and you'll probably live much longer!

As a father, when my children thank me for something in advance, it's hard for me to get out of giving it to them! Prayer with thanksgiving proves to God that we believe we are going to receive what we are asking for. (To Subscribe to the Elijah List subscribe here.)

Count the Stars - Now Think On This message by Steve Martin, Love For His People, Inc.

March 9, 2019

Greetings my friends in Internet land.

Have I got a promise for you, because our Lord keeps His promises. Once stated, always kept.

Be encouraged as you read this: Count the Stars. Having just published it this morning, be sure not to be left behind. (Wasn't there a book series named as such? We'll just leave it at that, as I expect to go through all that the Lord is bringing this way. I do know that He is calling out His love daily to all the peoples in all the nations. You know too?)

Here is some more encouragement the Lord spoke through me for you last Sunday at the Antioch International Church in Fort Mill, SC where we also serve:  Resurrection After Decades!

Be blessed, even as you are a blessing to others today, with ahava (love) and shalom (peace),

Steve Martin
Founder
Love For His People ministry

P.S. Know anyone with a birthday this month? I know a few. They live in Charleston! (Bob and Mary...) When you reach 65 and 63, respectively, you gotta have a greeting from your big brother! Laurie and I will be joining them next week to share a Shabbat meal together. Yeah! Then also in Israel May 2020 too. Where else but in the Land of the Promise, as David Peterman shared.
Now Think On This
Count the Stars
Steve Martin

“Then He brought him outside and said, "Look now toward heaven, and count the stars if you are able to number them." And He said to him, "So shall your descendants be." (Genesis 15:5, NKJV)

Have you ever tried counting the stars? If you live in a city or suburban area, you can hardly see any stars at all due to the bright night lights that light up the sky, which prevent the heavenly lights from shining through to your eyes. You must get out into the country, away from the glow of mankind’s rays, to see the ultimate canopy of the Lord God, Creator of the universe. Then you will experience His awesomeness.

In the summer of 1973, fresh out of the Catholic high school in Waterloo, Iowa, (Columbus High, home of the Sailors!) I went on a mission trip to the hill country of northern Georgia. Blairsville, Georgia to be exact. Northeast of Atlanta, somewhat near the North Carolina state line. A group of older teenagers went on the six-week adventure to lead a summer Bible youth camp for underprivileged kids, sponsored by a Catholic mission.

Being 18, I loved it! Quite the adventure driving my two-door, metallic blue 1963 Mercury Cougar all the way from Iowa, through Cincinnati, OH. It was a great time, forever stored in my memory banks.

(And the rest of the story: Count the Stars)

by Steve Martin

I am a man who likes to see people connected. If I meet one person here, who can help another person over there, I enjoy putting them in contact with each other. If they are in Jerusalem, and I know someone in Iowa that can meet a need they clearly have, I will “reach out” (overworked words I know, but you understand it) for the benefit of both. Makes common sense to me.

The Lord’s heart is certainly for that too. He is all about connecting, to having those He has created to get together and fulfill His purposes and plans for each. For that matter, He has intended it to be this way for us to use what each has been given, to “bring it to the table”, and fulfill the big picture that He has, not us.It is not about me doing my thing and you doing yours. Separately.

It is about coming together and building together. When that happens, then the world will see the Lord’s body of believers as we were meant to be seen. Until now, the world thinks very little of Christians and Jews. In many cases, we are both despised people. And no wonder. Most often all they see is fighting, arguments, name calling, and rejection of what the other “church” or “synagogue congregation” is doing. I don’t blame them. If I was in the “unbeliever’s camp”, so would I.

Guess what? Our God, the same One Who is bringing back the Jews to their promised Land of Israel, right now, even more so than what He has been in the last 70 years, is also speaking clearly to the other group, “the grafted in ones”, Christians, to come back to His plan, and start working together, in unity, as one.
