Most Persecution of Christians is at Hands of Muslims

Most Persecution of Christians is at Hands of Muslims

Wednesday, January 07, 2015 |  Israel Today Staff
The non-denominational relief organization Open Doors on Wednesday published its annual World Watch List of the 50 countries around the world where Christians face the most persecution.
The group estimates that some 100 million Christians globally are persecuted for their faith. Over the past year, both the severity and the geographic distribution of persecution have increased, reported Open Doors.
That is especially true in the Middle East, where only in Israel does the Christian population grow and thrive. Needless, to say, the Jewish state did not make the list of the top 50 countries where Christians are persecuted.
Since 2002, North Korea has held tight to the inglorious top position on the World Watch List. Of the estimated 200,000–400,000 underground Christians in North Korea, up to 70,000 are listed as “enemies of the regime” and made to suffer torture and hard labor in detention camps.
After North Korea, most of the persecution is happening in the Middle East, where violent jihadism has been on the rise, putting the local Christian populations under increasing pressure.
Iran rose to seventh place on the list over the past year. Unlike other Muslim countries in the region, in Iran persecution of Christians is government sanctioned. Under the leadership of the “moderate” President Rouhani, prison sentences are more common than ever for those suspected of having come to faith in Jesus.
In neighboring Iraq and Syria, the atrocities committed by the Islamic State (ISIS) against local Christians have shocked the world. With the assistance of jihadists from around the world, ISIS has vigorously pursued the establishment of a caliphate imposing strict Islamic principles reminiscent of the violent times of the Prophet Mohammed.
Christians unfortunately enough to find themselves living under the caliphate have been forcibly evicted, enslaved and murdered. In the Nineveh Plains and the city of Mosul, ancient Christians communities, the entire Christian population have virtually disappeared.
The authors of the Open Doors study noted that in no less than 18 of the 20 highest ranking countries “Islamic extremism” is the main driving force behind the persecution of Christians.

Paulette Reed: God Says, "I Am Bringing You Help!"

Love For His People Editor's Note: There were sentences in this message that I could relate to so much, for many of us, that I BOLD, put in BLUE and HIGHLIGHTED them!

I shared similar thoughts in my NOW THINK ON THIS message "When God Speaks" on May 1, 2014. You can search for it, and all the NOW THINK ON THESE messages in the search box on the right hand column.

Blessings on ye head!

A Prophetic Experience: "I Am Bringing You Help!"

I recently had a prophetic experience I want to share with you so you can "get in line" to receive a prophet's reward (see Matthew10:41). I pray it will also heighten your prophetic senses, for we are a prophetic people who are called to dream with God in these times.

A few weeks ago I was working in my garage all morning long, unpacking and sorting resources for Prophetic Arrow Ministries – books, CDs, and DVDs. When I was finished, I pulled my car out of the garage so I could run a few errands around town.

As I was driving down the street, thinking about my list of errands to do that day, I stopped at a red light. There was a pretty, young woman in the car to my right who honked her horn at me. I glanced over at her and immediately noticed she was wearing a bright green blouse...the color of prosperity. She motioned with her hand for me to roll down my window. When I did so, she smiled and said, "You have a large tape dispenser on your trunk." I smiled and said, "Oh, thank you!" I was very grateful she told me.

Tape dispenserAfter the young woman told me about the tape dispenser on my trunk, I thought I would just drive slowly for a few more blocks to my destination, and then I would remove the dispenser. However, I began to feel a bit uneasy about that decision, thinking it could easily fly off and hit someone's car, or someone could run over it and it could damage their tires. So I pulled into the left lane to make a left-handed turn, planning to stop in a quiet area and remove the tape dispenser from my trunk.

 (Photo via freeimages.com)

As I sat waiting for the left turn arrow to turn green, I saw that the same woman who told me about the dispenser was now right behind me. I watched in the rearview mirror as she opened her car door, ran, and grabbed the dispenser from my car, and brought it right to my driver's door. I opened the door as she smiled and said, "Here you go, ma'am!"
I said, "Well, you are just too sweet!"

Holy Spirit immediately spoke to my heart and said, "I am bringing you help!" By this time, I was totally covered with Holy Ghost bumps from head to toe, and I began to weep and thank the Lord for His unexpected surprise.

He is so faithful to provide for us exactly what we need when we need it.

Prophetic Insights From My Encounter For You

One of the things that stuck out to me the most while reflecting later on this experience was the fact that instead of rolling down the window when the woman approached me with the tape dispenser, I instinctively opened my door to receive it. As many of you know, in accordance with the Jewish calendar, this is the year of open doors for the Body of Christ.

I decree that along with those open doors, it is also the year where God is sending help – from Holy Spirit, angels, and others in the Body of Christ – so we can fulfill the dreams of God.

Special deliveryWhen people order resources from us, we package them in boxes and then use the tape to "seal the deal," so to speak.
Prophetically speaking, the tape dispenser represents messages being prepared and shipped around the world.

In the year of the open door, God is giving His people wisdom from Heaven, opening them up to new and exciting prophetic experiences.

These experiences will become messages (testimonies) that are sent around the world as we see in Luke 8:39, where we're encouraged to go and tell all that God has done for us!

(Photo via freeimages.com; altered)

When God encounters us, He doesn't do it for our sake alone. Rather, He encounters us and deposits something within us so that we can give it to those in need. When Isaiah encountered God (see Isaiah 6), he didn't just stop there and only worship the Lord, thinking that was all there was to it. As the encounter came to an end, God wanted Isaiah to share what he experienced with others. Once the angel touched the live coal from the altar to his lips, Isaiah said, "Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, 'Whom shall I send? And who will go for Us?' And I said, 'Here am I. Send me!'" (Isaiah 6:8).

God Is Chasing Us Down

God is about ready to chase us down, Beloved, helping us dispense the message we've received to the world. It is important to keep in mind that the trunk represents a safe place to carry resources and supplies. But, even though the inside of a trunk is safe, the Lord's resources won't benefit anyone if they're locked up inside. This reminds me of a quote I heard some time ago: "A ship is safe in its harbor, but that's not where it belongs." The fact that the dispenser was on the outside of the trunk indicates that God wants our resources and messages to be visible to others, so people can run to help one another.

Watch for signs and arrows from HeavenVehicles often represent ministries, and we're all ministers in one way or another.

So, as you're stewarding your "vehicle," watch for signs/arrows from Heaven so you don't miss your turn.

(Photo via freeimages.com)

In fact, God loves our dreams so much that He won't allow them to lie dormant any longer, as though idling at a stoplight. He wants them on display in our lives so others can see what God is doing and saying to us. Our relationship with God can't just be about ourselves but about what God is doing in the earth today.

He is so passionate about the dreams He placed within us that He will not allow them to be stopped for long – He is sending us help.

Just as my experience with the young woman invites readers to experience the prophetic blessings of God, so your experiences with God can invite others into an encounter with Him, also. Our encounters are meant to be someone else's gateway to help them reach their dreams – God's plans and purposes for them. This is one of the reasons Peters tells us, "Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have" (1 Peter 3:15).

I pray that God would chase you down, Beloved, awaking the dreams buried deep within. Help is on the way!

Nigerian Christians: 'Our Blood Will Speak about Christ' - CBN News

Nigeria, West Africa
Nigerian Christians: 'Our Blood Will Speak about Christ'
In Nigeria, Christians in the Muslim-majority North have been the targets of relentless deadly attacks by Islamic extremists.
More than 200 pastors in the Northeastern Borno state have either fled, closed their churches, or have been murdered by the militant Islamic group Boko Haram.
Christian leaders who remain have committed to fasting and praying for the region one week each month.
"We have to stay and uphold the name of Christ in this state," one pastor named James told the international ministry Open Doors.
"We are willing to pay the price for our calling. We don't only share the Gospel when things are rosy," he continued. "It is to be done in every situation. Hunger and want will never discourage us. Swords and guns, even the roar of the devil, will only encourage us to stand first for Christ."
"If we die, our blood will speak about Christ to our killers," he said.
"We are seeking the face of God in this situation," Rev. Pona, whose full name we cannot reveal for security purposes, told Open Doors. "Brethren are being killed all over the state. Thousands of homes have been destroyed. Our churches have not been spared. We are being struck from every direction. Only Christ can deliver us from this trial."

You Are Invited To Walk In the Double Portion of Your Fathers In the Spirit - Jeff Jensen

Jeff Jansen:
The Elijah List

Jeff Jansen
Great Fathers

We lost a great father on February 14, 2014, when Bob Jones was called home. Bob was a spiritual father to many. He was a spiritual father to Jan and me.

In 1975, Bob went to Heaven and God sent him back with a mandate to "learn to love" and to prepare the Church to see one billion souls come into the Kingdom. He has left many sons and many daughters behind. His words to us were that his ceiling would be our floor.

Bob died on Valentine's Day, 2-14 in 2014. Bob's life is a parable. It is Habakkuk 2:14 which says, "But [the time is coming] (and now is) that the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord..."
Bob JonesIt is also 2 Kings 2:14, which is the account of Elijah and Elisha. This is where I believe we, the Church, are at this time.

Many fathers are going home, but it's 2 Kings 2:14 for 2014. Those that were a part of revival in America in the '50s – Schambach, Oral Roberts, T. L. Osborn – they have all gone home. Paul Cain is the last of the '50's revivalists.

He told me recently that he knew the Lord was taking him home this year. Our fathers have left a great legacy of power and love.

Elisha Tested

In 2 Kings 2, Elisha leaves all and goes with Elijah the prophet. In verse 2, Elijah tries to get Elisha to stay in that place, but Elisha refuses to leave him. Elisha would not allow himself to get distracted, because he was after something and was determined not to miss it. Verse 4 and verse 6 says Elijah again tries twice more to get him to stay behind, but Elisha was firm in his pursuit.

The Word says in 2 Kings 2:8-10 that the two of them, Elijah and Elisha, stood by the Jordan. Elijah took his mantle, rolled it up, and struck the waters. The waters divided and they walked across on dry ground. After they crossed over, Elijah said to Elisha:

"'Ask what I shall do for you before I be taken away from you.' And Elisha said, 'I pray you, let a double portion of your spirit be upon me.' And he said, 'You have asked a hard thing: nevertheless, if you see me when I am taken from you, it shall be so unto you...'"

Elijah had tested Elisha, tried to shake him, but Elisha kept his focus and would not be put off. Elisha wanted a double portion of what was on Elijah's life.

In verse 11, they went on talking and a chariot of fire parted the two of them and Elijah went up into Heaven in a whirlwind. Elisha watched Elijah go up into the heavens. He was in anguish because his father whom he loved was gone. He wasn't after the mantle. Elisha loved his father, Elijah. You cannot just take someone's mantle; it comes through relationship.

ElijahList Prophetic Resources

It says in verses 13-14, that Elisha took up the mantle of Elijah which had fallen to the ground and went to the bank of the Jordan. He took the mantle of his father, Elijah, and struck the water saying, "Where is the Lord God of Elijah?" The water parted and he walked over on dry ground.

He could have just stood there holding that mantle saying, "Where is the God of my father?" and nothing would have happened. It wasn't until he did exactly what he saw his father do and struck the Jordan. As soon as he did, the double took place and the Jordan rolled up on either side. Elisha did exactly double the amount of miracles Elijah had done.

He received the double portion.

The Double Portion is Being Released

The Power of Passionate Intention by Mark ChironnaWe are living in 2 Kings 2:14. We have had fathers. Many are now going home. As they are going home, there is an opportunity for the double.

The double portion is being released. This is the year of the double doors, the year of the double portion. We must use what we have been entrusted with and we will see double the miracles.

The knowledge of the glory of God is coming in ways that take what the previous generations have done, and we will build on top of that. Their ceiling is our floor. What our fathers have done in the Spirit, we have the opportunity to take it to another level. It is the double portion. We all have the invitation to walk in the double portion of what the previous fathers have done in the Spirit.

Souls need to be won and transformed. Nations also need to be transformed. I want a double portion so I can do something with it. America needs to get saved. American needs reformation.

Paul Cain saw the stadiums being full in America, where the dead were being raised. He saw CNN broadcasting, "There is no news today but good news. There has been a resurrection in the stadium." He saw thousands coming to Christ in America.

I want to pray the double portion for you:

Lord, I pray the Father's blessing over everyone reading this. I pray for double portion, Lord. It is our turn now. Many fathers are going home and those mantles are falling upon another generation. God, we want to be the Elisha generation. It is going from Moses to Joshua, from Elijah to Elisha. Lord, we want to be Joshua that takes them into fulfill the promises, take them into the Promised Land. It is our turn now. Lord, I pray for the double portion.

Reach out and take the mantles that are falling and do something with them. Lay hands on the sick, give hope to the hopeless, love others well. God is looking for ways to change lives, and it will come through us. These are the days of the double portion.

Blessings,

Jeff Jansen

I lost my own spiritual father, Wade Taylor, just two years before a second "father in the spirit," Bob Jones, also went home to be with the Lord.
It's hard to say that the loss of these great men...for me and for others...is gain. Nevertheless, what this often means in God's economy is that when one father goes home, the spiritual sons inherit a double portion.

Global War on Christians the 'Elephant in the Room' - CBN News

Global War on Christians

the 'Elephant in the Room'

By Gary Lane,  CBN News Sr. International Reporter

Persecution of Christians is rampant all over the globe, especially in the Muslim world but few people are talking about it.

More people around the world embrace Christianity than any other religion and Christians are the most persecuted.they face beatings, imprisonment, and even death.

And it's not just happening in Islamic countries.

"Radical Islam could fall off the face of the planet tomorrow and Christians would not be safe," John Allen, author of The Global War on Christians, said.

It's coming from governments and religious militants seeking to violently advance their radical ideology.

For example, last month in the Buddhist nation of Sri Lanka, a mob led by radical Buddhist monks attacked two Christian prayer centers, smashing windows and destroying bibles.

North Korea is the worst offender. For the past 12 years, it has topped the annual watch list of persecuting countries.

Still, overall, Muslim countries are where Christians face the greatest risk.

"Thirty six of the top 50 countries on our World Watch List is the main driver of persecution. It's very dangerous to be a Christian in a country where Islamic extremism is prevalent," David Curry, CEO with Open Doors, said.

CBN News contributor and author Raymond Ibrahim calls calls Muslim persecution of Christians "the great elephant in the room that few wish to address."

Ibrahim talked about this and more on The 700 Club, Feb. 20. Check your local listings for show times or check CBNNews.com after 11 a.m. ET.

Open Doors - Now Think On This by Steve Martin

Open Doors
by Steve Martin

“They went to Phrygia, and then on through the region of Galatia. Their plan was to turn west into Asia province, but the Holy Spirit blocked that route. So they went to Mysia and tried to go north to Bithynia, but the Spirit of Jesus wouldn’t let them go there either. Proceeding on through Mysia, they went down to the seaport Troas.

That night Paul had a dream: A Macedonian stood on the far shore and called across the sea, “Come over to Macedonia and help us!” The dream gave Paul his map. We went to work at once getting things ready to cross over to Macedonia. All the pieces had come together. We knew now for sure that God had called us to preach the good news to the Europeans.” (Acts 16:7-10 The Message)

Beginning in the Jewish new year of 5774 (Sept. 2013), many prophetic words were coming forth in the Body of Christ about it being a year of “open doors” and “acceleration”.  I could positively attest to those words personally. It happened, and it continues onward.

But it wasn’t until I actually believed it for myself. Yes. I had to believe. Not only in my head, but also in my heart. Probably what you do too at times. Right?

In the Scripture about we read of Paul trying to go one way. I am sure he believed it was the way the Lord was leading. He was on the move, following the last directive given by the Holy Spirit (Ruach HaKodesh). Obedience to the previous word was going to get him to the next open door that he would walk through. In his going, he was pushing forward in the understanding he had.

Like most of us, we can expect the Lord to lead in this way. In another example from His Written Word (the Logos) it tells us about a directive for an open door to Peter.

Send therefore to Joppa and call Simon here, whose surname is Peter. He is lodging in the house of Simon, a tanner, by the sea. When he comes, he will speak to you.’ So I sent to you immediately, and you have done well to come. Now therefore, we are all present before God, to hear all the things commanded you by God. Then Peter opened his mouth and said: “In truth I perceive that God shows no partiality. But in every nation whoever fears Him and works righteousness is accepted by Him.” (Acts 10:32-35 NKJV)

Peter had been very hesitant to share the Gospel with the Gentiles. In fact, he didn’t quite believe it was for anyone outside of the Jewish nation. (Take the time to read all of Acts 10 to get the full picture.) After all, he was a Jew, and the Messiah of Israel was believed to be only for the Jews. That was deeply ingrained in his mind.

Both Peter and Paul were great men of God. But like all men and women of faith, they had to have a mind reset at times, to receive a greater understanding of the Lord’s heart. And after getting that a bit more straight, they too had to then follow the directive  in obedience and perseverance to get through to the next open door.

God is not a respecter of persons, nor does He show partiality. Thus we can learn from Peter and Paul (and Mary too! I am throwing that in for the ‘60’s and ‘70’s generation.) I believe they had in their mind that the Lord was going to work in one way, and so in strong commitment they went in that direction. Again, in obedience to the revelation they had received up to that point.

But then their direction changed. Did the Lord change His mind? No. He was just getting each on them to the point where they could make the adjustment, the turn in direction, to more tune in to His plans and purposes. Being they were open to whatever He said, they followed.

In our minds and hearts following hard after the Lord, we can think He has an open door in front of us that we are to walk through. So we move forward for that opportunity. But along the way, as the Lord fine tunes our perspective and understanding, what seemingly then may become a closed door is only a momentary adjustment in our “going” to get us to the next open door. That is not a bad thing. We just need to be flexible enough to make that adjustment also.

We all have open doors. It is not a question of “Yes we do or no we don’t.” Settle it in your heart and mind – we have the open doors. With our eyes fixed on Jesus (Yeshua), the Author and Finisher of our faith, He will continually lead us on the road. A turn here, a turn there on the way to the destination. It is in His heart to get us each to the place appointed for us since the beginning of time.

Be open to the open door in front of you. If you feel like you are pushing, and the door is bolted shut, then relax a bit and ask if the other door in front of you is the next one He has for you. Then in obedience walk through it.

Now think on this,

Your Gifts Will Open Doors: A Promise From God - Paulette Reed

Paulette Reed:
Your Gifts Will Open Doors:
A Promise From God
(The Elijah List)

Paulette ReedGod-Given Gifts

The Bible assures us that every single person on earth has at least one – and probably several – God-given gifts placed inside of them to be used for God's glory. When we entered this world, God already had a plan for us and gave us the gifts we needed to fulfill our destinies.

When God called Jeremiah, He reassured him by saying, "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I have appointed you a prophet to the nations" (Jeremiah 1:5).

God knew what Jeremiah was called to do and gave him the necessary gifts to fulfill that call even before he was born. God formed you in the womb too!

He knows what you are called to do and has placed the perfect gifts inside of you to fulfill your destiny.

The apostle Paul assures us that each of us within the Body of Christ have different gifts that are a response to God's grace: "Since we have gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, each of us is to exercise them accordingly..." (Romans 12:6).

And Peter reminded his readers that they were on earth to glorify God through the use of their gifts: "As each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving one another as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. Whoever speaks, is to do so as one who is speaking the utterances of God; whoever serves is to do so as one who is serving by the strength which God supplies; so that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belongs the glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen" (1 Peter 4:10-11).

Keys To Open Doors

It's a great idea to ask yourself at the beginning of each year, "What is my vision? What is my destiny, and how am I to reach it?"

Asking these questions will help us focus on God's plan and purpose for our lives. In response to each of these questions, it is important for us to set reachable goals that we can achieve with the Lord's help. Remember, if we don't have a target, we're not aiming at anything. And if we're not aiming at anything, we won't even know if we hit the mark because we don't know what we're aiming at.

As we step into 2014, which is the Year of the Open Door, let's return to the basics of the Gospel. Each of us should ponder these questions:

What are our gifts from Heaven? Do we know what God has placed in us to fulfill His plan? Do we know what our part in that plan is? It's important for us to identify our gifts because they are the keys that open doors and bring us into our divine destiny.

Proverbs 18:16 promises us, "A man's gift makes room for him and brings him before great men."

We can be sure that our gifts will play an integral part to fulfilling our God-given dreams. It's sad to watch people when they don't understand this connection. They begin to look for things in the world to fulfill their desires rather than looking to God.

Unfortunately, most end up frustrated at best, and discouraged at worst. However, when we learn to walk in our God-given gifts, we are not only content with our vocations, but we become passionate about them as well.

The Rhythm of Heaven

It's true that education is good and beneficial for the fulfillment of many of our dreams. But the Word of God does not tell us that education will make room for us. Don't get me wrong here: Education is important and sometimes we can only walk through certain open doors because of our education. But the Bible is very clear that it is our gifts that make room for us. After all, we could earn multiple Master's degrees, but they may not help a bit if we don't know our true Master.

I like how 1 Corinthians 1:26-29 (NLT) helps keep us humble:
Follow The Master"Remember, dear brothers and sisters, that few of you were wise in the world's eyes or powerful or wealthy when God called you. Instead, God chose things the world considers foolish in order to shame those who think they are wise.

And He chose things that are powerless to shame those who are powerful. God chose things despised by the world, things counted as nothing at all, and used them to bring to nothing what the world considers important. As a result, no one can ever boast in the presence of God."

Beloved, our gifts from God bring us joy, peace, and success. It's when we learn to operate in them like a well-oiled machine, and are led by the Holy Spirit, that we can flow with the rhythm of Heaven.

ElijahList Prophetic Resources

Kingdom Finances

Here's another exciting aspect about our gifts. Not only will they open doors for us, but they can also bring us the finances we need to fulfill our destinies. When we use our gifts wisely for the Lord, He will give us favor so finances will be freely given to us, so that we can keep advancing the Kingdom of God.

In other words, once the gift of God within us is activated, it can become a usable commodity that ushers in promotion. Daniel is the perfect example of this godly concept when he used his gifts to interpret King Nebuchadnezzar's dream:

"Then King Nebuchadnezzar fell on his face and did homage to Daniel, and gave orders to present to him an offering and fragrant incense. The king answered Daniel and said, 'Surely your God is a God of gods and a Lord of kings and a revealer of mysteries, since you have been able to reveal this mystery.' Then the king promoted Daniel and gave him many great gifts, and he made him ruler over the whole province of Babylon and chief prefect over all the wise men of Babylon" (Daniel 2:46-48).

Practicing Our Gifts

Practice your giftsAfter discovering our God-given gifts, it then becomes our responsibility to continually practice using them.

God has called each of us to exercise our gifts so they become strong.

Just like we will never reach our health goals without exercising regularly, so we may never reach our life goals if we don't exercise our gifts regularly. When we practice our gifts, we'll become more confident in our identity in Christ, thus fulfilling His plan and purpose for us.

And might I suggest here that we stay focused on "our" gifts and let the Lord bring other gifts around us. For example, I remember years ago when I was serving a brilliant author. I was helping take his writings and organize them into sequenced trainings.

One day I looked at the leader and said, "We need to pray that the Lord gives you the gift of administration!" He looked directly at me, smiled, and said, "He did...she's sitting right there." It was a prophetic moment in my life that I didn't forget.

God will bring other people (they are gifts themselves, and they also have various gifts) around us to connect the dots on the road to destiny.

Often times people get stalled in the pursuit of dreams because they're waiting for some man or woman to open doors for them. But listen! God has a better plan for you. He has given you the keys to open doors to your future – those keys are your gifts. And the gifts inside of you are perfect because they are what God determined for you to have even before you were born.

When we wisely use our God-given gifts, they bring God glory and bring us before kings. Let's take the time to do a spiritual inventory, asking God to strengthen and use our gifts for His glory. After all, it's not just about the gifts; it's about worshiping and honoring the Gift-Giver – His name is Jesus. He gave us the greatest gift ever...the gift of eternal life to all who will receive it.
