Torah Scroll Being Written to Present to Messiah Upon His Arrival

“Now it will come about that In the last days the mountain of the house of the Lord will be established as the chief of the mountains, And will be raised above the hills; And all the nations will stream to it. And many peoples will come and say, ‘Come, let us go up to the mountain of the lord, To the house of the God of Jacob; That He may teach us concerning His ways And that we may walk in His paths.’ For the Torah will go forth from Zion And the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.” (Isaiah 2:2-3)

Rabbi Yosef Berger, one of the rabbis in charge of King David’s Tomb in Jerusalem’s Old City, has been dreaming of a project for over a year – one Torah scroll to unify all of Israel.

Recent global events have forced Rabbi Berger to move ahead quickly with his dream as he wants to be able to personally present this Torah as a gift to the Messiah. Many prominent rabbis and Kabbalists have told Rabbi Berger that may be very soon indeed.

The inspiration for the project came from the Book of Hosea (3:4-5), in which it is written:

“For the sons of Israel will remain for many days without king or prince, without sacrifice or sacred pillar and without ephod (a sleeveless garment worn by Jewish priests) or household idols. Afterward the sons of Israel will return and seek the Lord their God and David their king; and they will come trembling to the Lord and to His goodness in the last days (before Messiah).”

Rabbi Berger explained to Breaking Israel News what this prophecy had a personal meaning for him.

“In the end of days, when Israel realizes that all hope is lost and they have no solution or salvation from their plight, the people of Israel will be wise enough to seek the three things which our ancestors despised: the Kingdom of Heaven, the Kingdom of David, and the building of the Temple,” he said.

“It is taught in the Yalkut Shimoni (a collection believed to have been arranged in the 13th century) Samuel 1: 106, ‘Rabbi Shimon Ben Monsia said, “No signs of redemption will be shown to Israel until they seek these three things – the kingdom of heaven , the dynasty of King David, and the building of the Temple.”’”

Rabbi Berger believes that by bringing all of Israel together in the writing of a single Torah scroll housed on Mount Zion, where King David is interred, and adjacent to the Temple mount, he will accomplish all three goals in one action.

Rabbi David Hai Abuhatzeira was honored with writing the first letter of the Torah. Rabbi Abuhatzeira is the grandson of the prominent Moroccan Sephardic mystic Rabbi Israel Abuhatzeira, known as the Baba Sali, renowned for his ability to work miracles through his prayers.

For Kabbalistic reasons which he refused to reveal, Rabbi Abuhatzeira chose to write the Hebrew letter ‘yud’, rather than the first letter, which is a ‘bet’. Rabbi Abuhatzeira urgently instructed the organizers of the project, “Write the Sefer Torah as fast as possible, you don’t have much time!…I hope you have a chance (to finish)!”

“The Messiah will also take part in the process,” Rabbi Abuhatzeira explained. “The nation of Israel will give him this Torah as a gift, as it is written “Whither kings shall bring presents unto Thee” (Psalms 68:29) and “Bring presents unto Him that is to be feared” (Psalms 76:11).”

According to Rabbi Berger, Rabbi Abuhatzeira added that the combined numerologies of the phrases “This year we will merit seeing him” (השנה נזכה לראות אותו) and “The arrival of the Messiah” (ביאת המשי), add up to 5776, the current year according to the Jewish calendar.

Hundreds of letters have already been written in the Torah scroll. Jewish tradition teaches that a Torah scroll contains 600,000 letters, equal to the number of Jews who received the Torah at Mount Sinai.  However, the actual number of letters in a Torah is 304,805, leaving many more opportunities for people to be included in the Klal Yisrael project.

Rabbi Berger realizes that preparing a gift for the Messiah is not a normal type of charity, and his expectations are unique. “Even if someone gives me a million dollars to write many Torahs, it isn’t what I want. I want all of Israel individually to have a part in this Torah,” he explained to Breaking Israel News.

When the Torah is completed, Rabbi Berger plans on having a parade through Jerusalem to dedicate it. The parade will go through every corner of the city in order to include as many people as possible and will finish at the Tomb of King David, where the Torah scroll will be kept.

“We want it to be such a wonderful event that all of Israel will be praising God and asking for him to come and redeem us.”

I saw what appeared to be high-ranking angels descending upon the earth decreeing: "Honor! Honor! Honor! Release the power of honor upon the earth!" "Honor all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the king!" (1 Peter 2:17).

The word honor means to set a price on, value, esteem, regard or respect. From Heaven's perspective, whole nations, cities, and people are dying from the lack of honor. But through one simple word of respect, I saw the hand of God coming upon the earth to move upon whomever we honored.

A Scepter and Scroll of Honor

I saw a scepter of honor rising over the earth. Crowns, medals, and ribbons were now being handed out to weary, worn saints! I saw strong angels swooping down to pin medals and ribbons of overdue honor upon many of God's saints in this hour. Medals for "wounded" hearts were being given out. Your heart was wounded, but you went on! 

Those who have been hidden, receiving no recognition (while others were taking the credit for your labor), were now receiving medals of honor! There were medals and ribbons being pinned upon many for not quitting. You have gone through Hell without stopping! Great honor was coming upon you now! Gold medals were being given to those who took the blame, making peace with others even when you knew you were right. Crowns were now being placed upon heads while wearing your gold medal too. 

There were also medals being given for "unanswered" prayers. You cried out earnestly for God to answer your prayer, but there was seemingly no answer (or at least not the answer you had been looking for), but yet having not seen, you still believed.

Through great brokenness and humility, honor was now coming upon many. Proverbs 15:33 says, "...humility comes before honor." With this honor was coming great authority. And with this great authority came responsibility for us to honor others.

I also saw an "honor" scroll being opened as a great cloud of witnesses in glory stood to their feet! This honor scroll was opened and unfurled across the earth. High-ranking military angels began stepping down out of Heaven, and appeared to be disengaging in Heavenly warfare to release overdue honor upon the earth that would ultimately change many hearts and minds of mankind, bringing Heaven down to earth.

Honor the Unborn

Great honor in Heaven was being given to unborn babies whose destinies would have turned the world upside down by now. 

Love and hugs from earth would have squeezed out many cures of infirmities and diseases on the earth had they been loved and honored when they were sent. God was alerting us with one more opportunity to respect the womb and the treasure inside of it, which He wants to bring forth to bless us.

Honor Thy Father and Mother

Honoring thy father and mother all the days of thy life was releasing long awaited healings and miracles! Exodus 20:12 says, "Honor thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee."

A doctor attending our church felt led to take time off work and visit his father and mother who lived in Florida. He took a month off to bless them and love on them. Upon returning home, this doctor had a physical check-up and was diagnosed with colon cancer. He said that when his physician said the word "cancer" to him, he had a strange peace come over him and the Lord spoke, "Since you have honored your father and mother, I am going to heal you and give you a long life!" That doctor has no cancer now!

I sense that even as our fathers and mothers age, the first commandment promising long life becomes vital in fulfilling our long range purposes on the earth.

Honor the Children

Honoring children will bring forth their gifts and callings like nothing else. Psalm 127:4-5 says, "As arrows are in the hand of a warrior, so are the children of one's youth. Happy, blessed, and fortunate is the man whose quiver is filled with them! I once heard a story about a little boy who came to school one day carrying his little plastic guitar. Because that was so unusual, the teacher asked him what he was doing with it. He told his teacher, "I am going to be a great country singer when I grow up." The teacher took the little boy by the hand and walked him down to the principal's office. She said to the principal, "I want to introduce you to a great country singer legend. Would you allow him to sing over the PA system this morning?" The little boy sang his heart out. Years later, that little boy became a country singer. While doing a documentary of his success, he mentioned his teacher in elementary school who believed in him and respected his dream.

Honor All Men

As a result of not honoring others, we have not been honored. 1 Timothy 2:1-4, "I exhort therefore, first of all, that supplications, prayers, intercessions, thanksgivings, be made for all men; for kings and all that are in high place; that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and gravity. This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; Who would have all men to be saved, and come to the knowledge of the truth."

A seemingly forgotten command was now coming forth from the Throne Room to the Body of Christ to decree honor to all men, including kings and leaders of nations. By not honoring them with our prayers, as well as not praying for the salvation of their souls, we were actually tying the hands of God from moving upon their lives! Because we didn't like the person God had put in power, we therefore despised their position. But to God, position and the person is everything! (Photo via Freeimages)

Romans 13:1 ...for there is no power but of God; and the powers that be are ordained of God.

Many will be called at this time to stand before nations, kings, cities, tribes, orphans, widows, babies, and even the unborn to honor them. 

When we honor someone, something powerful happens in us, because in honoring others we are honoring God as well, since "all men" were created in His image. Don't wait to find a good reason to honor someone. You may be waiting forever. Let's honor them because God said so.

“To The Jew First” - Ahava Love Letter (Steve Martin)

Dear family of friends,

Since 2003 I have visited one of the Charlotte, NC largest synagogues (2000+ members) at least 12 times - as of this writing. I had earlier met a member of the shul there at a Charlotte Chamber of Commerce luncheon that first year, and subsequently befriended him. Buying printed logo pens, hats, shirts and mugs from him through his business certainly helped grow the relationship!

Over time I got to know a few other members at the synagogue, with them fully knowing that I was a Christian who loved and supported Israel and the Jews. They were really actually amazed at how much I stood for their people, primarily showing the reality of it by our humanitarian aid and because of my many trips to their rightful homeland of Eretz Yisrael. Many of these have never been to Israel.

When I worked for one Jerusalem based Jewish organization in Charlotte for five years from 2005-2010, I asked their rabbi to come to a Hanukkah Festival we put on. He was kind in his response, but insisted he did not drive on Shabbat. Nor would he accept a ride when I offered to pick him up. Another member did come though to that festival, and said our Gentile speaker taught the history of Hanukkah and the Maccabees better than the rabbi did early that same day. (I never told the rabbi that!)

Over time the Shabbat morning service helped improve my Hebrew, and the onegs (free luncheons afterward) improved my stomach size! It was a joy being among those whom I write so often about, and want to support even more.

This last time I attended, which was Shabbat Hanukkah (the Saturday during the week of this Festival of Lights), my business friend wasn’t there, but another friend was, a man in his late 70’s. So I sat with him in the usual very back row. I had already donned a kippa (men’s head covering, like a beanie) and tallit (prayer shawl) from the visitor’s bin as required, before entering the large meeting room, so I fit right in as I usually did.

About an hour into the service, one of the “ushers” came and asked if I was a visitor. I said, “Yes”, and then he asked if I would help be a “lifter.” I didn’t know what that meant, but said I would. I was sure I would find out soon enough.

I had never been on the platform where the “beamer” (podium) stood, nor where the “ark” was, the very large decorative wooden case where the Torah scrolls (Scriptures) are kept. But I thought I’d give it a try when prayer for sick ones needing healing was announced that morning. I felt at home pretty much, as I stood up there where others had gathered for prayer. (I have been to the Kotel, the Western Wall in Jerusalem, at least 24 times over my 11 trips to Israel. Praying in a holy place was the right thing to do.)

Soon followed the removal of two Torah scrolls from the ark. Then the Hebrew reading of them by several from among the 300 seated was done. This went on for about a half hour. The Scriptures were from Genesis, about Joseph. I recognized a few words, but basically just turned the pages as the others did. From right to left of course.

Once the readings were done, the “usher” who had asked me to be a “lifter” earlier, came and said to go up and stand by the beamer. So I did, still not quite sure what I was going to do. My friend had already been up there helping turn the scroll for each reader, not knowing I had been asked to lift. When the last reader was done, my friend turned, saw me (with a surprised expression on his face), and motioned for me to come forward. 

The cantor, next to him, said to me to take hold of the wooden handles, pull the large scroll towards me, “lift” up the Torah (so this is what I was asked to do!), unroll it a bit so all could see, turn around in a circle, and sit down on a chair so the beautiful velvet cloth cover could be placed on it. I did it all. After the decorated red cover was put over the large scroll, a silver breast plate, with the twelve tribes engraved on it and having a chain to hold it to the scroll, was added, then the pointer, after which the entire package was taken from me and put on a holder. I then retook my “pew” seat in the last row.

My friend stayed on the platform, for I saw he was to help put the large scroll back into the ark. When he did, he picked it up off the holder, but tripped over the large wooden hanukiyah (eight candle stick menorah) that was next to it. He fell, cut his nose on the chair I had just vacated, but did not drop it! If he had, tradition says all who saw him drop it (basically, everyone present in the synagogue), had to fast a certain length of time. So it is a big deal not to drop the sacred scroll!

The two hour service was almost over, and so I pulled out my Ahava Love Letter books (2) that I had earlier left the room to go and get out of my car. I hadn’t planned on giving any out here, but sensed the Holy Spirit direct me to. When I gave one to my friend, after he had returned from the bathroom to stop the bleeding of his nose, he thanked me. Then he asked me to step out of the room with him. This is when things really got interesting!

Once outside the “sanctuary” doors he began to tell me that his son had married a Christian, who was a Baptist, several years ago, and they went to a 1300 member church in Cary, NC. (I know a pastor in Cary who annually tours Israel with Christian Friends of Israel. Small world!) He said his son was still a Jew, but believed now in Jesus. (He didn’t use Yeshua’s Jewish name, which I found interesting. In my later responses to him, I did use Yeshua’s name.)

My friend said his son believed that the Messiah had already come, and supposed I did too. I said, “Yes I do. His name is Yeshua.” My friend then wanted to know where in the “Old Testament” it said the Messiah would come to suffer, and said I too must believe, as his son now did, that He was coming a second time. Right? I said, “Yes.” He confirmed that he wasn’t convinced in what his son had told him, and what he assumed I believed.

He had a few more comments and some questions for me. I shared as I knew how.

Then he surprised me again. He told me that earlier in the month he had made a trip to Hope of Israel, the Messianic Jewish synagogue which is just a few miles from my home here in Charlotte. He made one comment about his time there that really surprised me. “There wasn’t a crucifix in the building. In fact, the main room looked very similar to any Jewish synagogue.” (I didn’t say this to him, but I know it does. I have been there several times. Many of the attendants are still Jews, of course, while believing in Yeshua.) He also said he spent an hour just talking to the three ladies there, one whom was putting together Hanukkah cards to give to their members. He said the rabbi (Sam Nadler) wasn’t there while he was.

To finish this short “divine appointment” time for my friend and I, he said, “I am a good Jew. I have attended synagogue all my life. I am not perfect, but I am a good Jew. And I will die a Jew.”

I thought to myself, “Yes, you will certainly die a Jew. And I hope you will believe before then in your Messiah Yeshua (Yeshua HaMashiach) as I do.”
