Are You Called as a Prophet? Here Are 2 Ways to Know - Jennifer LeClaire

The Plumb Line, by Jennifer LeClaire

potter's wheel
There is a lot of confusion regarding the call into prophetic ministry. Many Christians are looking for confirmation. I get email frequently from people asking, "How can I tell if I am called to be a prophet?" This is an important question. In order to walk worthy of your calling, you first need to be confident God has called you. Once you are sure, you can count the cost and decide whether or not to embrace the spiritual battle that lies ahead.
Although I generally discount "checklists" that tell you whether or not you are an apostle or prophet or operate in some other ministry gifting, there are practical ways for believers to confirm a prophetic calling in their own hearts, which we will discuss in this chapter. And it is safe to say that if you are called into prophetic ministry, mature leaders around you will recognize that call eventually.
There are exceptions to that last point. Some pastors are too insecure to recognize the gifts and callings of those in their midst. But if you are called into prophetic ministry, be assured that people will discern that call in due season. You do not have to make an announcement, try to show off your prophetic gifts or otherwise strive to let people know. God will make it apparent in His time. In fact, waiting for Him to reveal your gifting in public ministry is part of the making process, the course of Holy Spirit training, teaching and practical experience that you will learn about through the pages of this book.
So, are you called into prophetic ministry? Here are two important points to help you address this question.
First, perhaps you received a prophetic word announcing your calling. That could well have been an authentic word, but take the time to look for further confirmation. I have seen prophetic words send sincere believers on spiritual goose chases for gifts and callings that Jesus did not impart. It is sad to see people hold tightly to an erroneous word they believe is genuine and miss God's true call for their lives.
Second, perhaps you are consistently seeing revelatory gifts—such as words of wisdom, words of knowledge and discerning of spirits—manifesting in your ministry. That gives you a hint of your Kingdom vocation. It is actually a better indication that you are called to prophetic ministry than an announcement spoken, say, at the altar by a visiting prophet.
In the King James Version of Ephesians 4:1, Paul urges us to "walk worthy of the vocation wherewith [we] are called."
That word vocation gives us insight into how a calling of God manifests. Another word for vocation is occupation.
Think about it this way: Doctors are educated and trained to practice medicine. That is what they do day in and day out. And they do not just practice medicine at work. They practice medicine at home when someone in the family gets sick. They practice medicine in a restaurant if someone passes out and they hear the cry "Is there a doctor in the house?" Even when doctors retire, they remember the Hippocratic Oath they swore to uphold. Whether they are in the church, the marketplace or the home front, doctors are doctors.
Likewise, if you are called as a prophet, it is an occupation. You cannot turn off the instinct to stand in the office of the prophet any more than a physician can turn off the instinct to help people heal. If you are called to prophetic ministry, you will walk in the revelatory gifts as a way of life, not just occasionally. You will feel the unction to walk in prophetic gifts consistently.
If you have this ministry gift of being a prophet, what might it look like? We will study this in greater detail in later chapters, but, generally, the purpose of prophecy is to reveal the heart, mind and will of God.
Modern-day prophetic ministry is more than the usual public perception. It is more than prophesying over people in prayer lines. It is more than having dreams, visions and angelic visitations. Far more. Modern-day prophets are reformers, like John the Baptist. Prophetic ministry should bring positive change and hope. A reformation mindset is part of what it means to be prophetic. Prophets have reformation in their DNA.
Modern-day prophets are called to prepare a people for the Lord by pointing them to an intimate relationship with Jesus (see John 3:29), equipping them to discern His voice (see Ephesians 4:11–12), speaking words of warning or correction that God gives them (see Matthew 3:2–3) and standing in the gap between man and God (see Ezekiel 22:30). Usually this latter function takes place through intercession. Not all intercessors are prophets, but all prophets are intercessors. It is part of the prophetic priestly duty to make intercession. The first time you see the word prophet in the Bible, it is in connection with intercession (see Genesis 20:7). You cannot separate the prophet from prayer because prayer is the prophet's connection with God and His will.
Modern-day prophetic ministry involves turning the hearts of the fathers toward the sons and the hearts of the sons toward the fathers (see Malachi 4:5–6). The Amplified translation calls this turning a "reconciliation produced by repentance of the ungodly." Prophetic ministry, thus, turns the hearts of believers toward the matters of the Father's heart. Often, that means a cry for repentance as modern-day prophetic ministry works to separate the holy from the profane (see Ezekiel 42:20).
If you are called as a prophet, you will feel moved to root out and to pull down and to destroy and to throw down and to build and to plant (see Jeremiah 1:10). Intense spiritual warfare will be a frequent reality in your life. You will have a sense—a "knowing"—that you are being called to walk a narrower path than some around you. You will feel a sense of duty to honor God's will and be crushed with godly sorrow when you misstep.

Don't Let Your Dreams Be Stolen by Lee Johndrow

Don't Let Your Dreams Be Stolen

Too often we see ourselves changed by situations and circumstances. It is somewhat like being in a car traveling and a large gust of wind comes up, causing a change, even minor, in direction. Or you are traveling in icy weather and the car slides in a direction you had not expected. Oops! What I thought I was doing has changed. Sometimes dramatically. Sometimes it seems like there is no other way to get back to the place you were.

Perhaps you are right. Perhaps the "damage" is too severe. Or the timing is no longer available because of the delay.

Has God changed His mind about you? No! A change in plans does not mean a change in purpose.

Last night I was dreaming. In the dream, I was working on an older computer. It was using a cassette player that contained information to work from. There were 5 programs I was able to work on. Each one of these programs had a type of secret that could be found in a part of nature. A mineral, a flower, a tree. Inside of the item there was an answer to a need in the world.

As I was working one, it showed a purple flower. As I began to review it, it revealed an answer to a world sickness that was debilitating and destructive. I began to do more study.

While I was in the midst of my studying a young man came up to me and began to give me warnings. I asked him what his warnings were predicated upon. As he began to share his experience, I could feel weights being placed upon my shoulders.

The name of the flower was the "Purple Lover."  A beautiful violet flower. With answers to sickness. The ability to change culture and the world. And yet the desire of the young man was to disregard it. To not take a chance. To not want to risk it.

Stop the Dream Stealers

In life many will want to pull you away from what you see. To cause you to feel less than adequate. To create fear and doubt in your life.

In thinking about the flower and its potential I was reminded of George Washington Carver. Out of a peanut he produced over 100 products for the farm and the home. He found answers in a plant and provided for the world.

In the very near future I see the development of many products and inventions coming forth. In the midst of the "crisis" goodness will emerge. Based on the age of the computer I saw, I would envision that number of these surprising discoveries are going to come out of a generation of people from 45-65. People that have been pulled aside, but while the plans have changed the purpose has not.

We are in the midst of exciting times. For years there has been talk about things like free energy and new cures for illnesses. I truly believe we are at the door. Will we go through? Will those people be encouraged to go through?

Today, I simply say "stop" the dream stealers, the dream killers. And let His goodness arise in the earth.

Jew-Killing Has Become Lucrative Palestinian Profession

Jew-Killing Has Become Lucrative Palestinian Profession

Monday, July 07, 2014 |  Yossi Aloni  ISRAEL TODAY
Israel’s security cabinet is exploring ways to curb monthly stipends paid by the Palestinian Authority to Palestinian terrorists sitting in Israeli jails.
The issue was again brought to the forefront as Israel sought ways to put pressure on the Palestinians to return three abducted Jewish youths, who have since been found murdered.
Data presented to the cabinet revealed that a terrorist sentenced to 10–15 years in an Israeli jail receives a salary of 6,000 shekels (USD $1,750) a month. A terrorist serving 25–30 years receives 10,000 shekels.
Terrorists with “blood on their hands” - those who have succeeded in murdering Israelis and are serving more than 30 years - can expect a monthly income of 12,000 shekels (USD $3,500), which is nearly five times the average salary in the Palestinian Authority.
With those kinds of numbers, the murder and attempted murder of Jews has become one of the most rewarding professions in the Palestinian Authority.
An Israeli Foreign Ministry report shows that in 2012, the Palestinian Authority paid USD $75.5 million to jailed terrorists and their families. And that represents only the transfers from the PA’s Ministry of Prisoner Affairs.
Additional monies are regularly paid to the families of jailed terrorists by the Ministry of Social Affairs, and to the families of deceased terrorists, including suicide bombers. These additional payments reached USD $78 million in 2011.
All together, the Palestinian Authority is spending some 20 percent of its annual foreign aid and five percent of its overall annual budget on supporting terrorists and their families.

TOUCHING THE DEPTHS - SIGN by Morris E. Ruddick

TOUCHING THE DEPTHS

Morris E. Ruddick

"Oh, the depth of the riches: both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and unfathomable His ways!" Rom 11:33

During His earthly ministry, Jesus made a very profound statement to His followers. He told them that He had come to send fire on the earth and how He wished it were already kindled; but that He had a baptism to be baptized with and how distressed He was until it was accomplished (Luke 12:49).

Jesus' earthly ministry progressively laid the foundation and model for the fire He mentioned and the baptism this fire requires. It is the model for those embracing the call of being His followers.

From Deuteronomy to Hebrews, God's presence is described as a consuming fire. Jesus' presence progressively unveiled this dimension of the anointing, of being a carrier of God's presence. God's power is simply an outworking of the consciousness of His presence.

Simultaneously, John 1:5 reveals that darkness was unable to comprehend His presence.

There is a cost to stewarding God's presence. It is the cost for displacing darkness. It taps the depths that transcend the natural and for that matter, darkness. Jesus paid that cost at the highest level and changed the spiritual code governing the earth.

The cost begins by completely yielding our lives for His. Jesus said: "He who loves his life will lose it; but he hates his life in this world will gain it for eternal life." (John 12:25) Jesus understood the sacrifice that lay before Him. It was the price and the pathway into which Jesus admonished His followers to "follow Him."

His death and resurrection fulfilled all the covenant promises and God's intentions for His own. It opened the gates to the potential for all His followers to become aligned with and one with God's heart.

Entering the Depths
From this "baptism of fire" that Jesus went through, He gave His followers, those willing to pay the cost, the keys and strategies to enter the depths, this dimension of reality. They are the keys to employing righteous power in corrupt settings. From these depths comes the change that shakes nations.

In 1997 we met a most unusual woman of God named Agnes Numer. Born in 1915, Agnes was older and spiritually more seasoned. She had an equally unusual ministry that had at its core, the feeding of the poor. Her ministry was a faith ministry, simple in its execution, but profound in its impact.

Her efforts had no formal fund-raising program. Yet it consistently fed and housed its active contingent of workers and visitors. It was birthed after she had hit the age of 60; after what she described as years and years spent in her "prayer closet;" following a time she had memorized almost the entire book of Isaiah.

The Dynamics
At the time we met her, her ministry Somerhaven, had several simple things that distinguished it. First, it was devoted to God's heart for the needy (Isaiah 58), in daily sending out two 18-wheelers filled with food for the poor across her state.

Agnes' facility was also a safe-place where leaders came to get perspective from God and be refreshed. It was a safe place because the presence of the Lord was there. While there were regular meetings for prayer and for worship; it was clear that Agnes was the catalyst for God's prevailing presence at that place.

Agnes' wisdom and anointed prayers were sought by leaders from across the globe. She would receive phone calls in the middle of the night from around the world, from leaders seeking the flow of the Spirit in which she walked. She remained active until the time of her graduation from this earth when she was 95. Agnes was a carrier of God's presence. She was a carrier and catalyst of revival.

We have entered a time, when those, prepared like Agnes, are being mobilized as carriers of God's presence and of revival. Their presence will create the spiritual sparks that nudge others out of their status quo.

True revival is a foundational threat to the status quo. It challenges and displaces darkness. Characterized by the power of His presence, its depths are beyond the boundaries of human dimensions and descriptions.

The Equalizer
In more places outside the West than not, people fear the powers of darkness. They fear and give homage to the powers of corruption. Even within circles of believers, the unspoken response can be that the devil is the prevailing power, with God's minions operating as comparative weaklings.

Yet, in our work around the globe, we have been uniquely blessed in working together with ones whose identities and callings are uncompromised against the forces of Babylon and Chaldea (Jer 51:20). They have touched the depths. We've likewise touched and been touched by an infrastructure of ones who hold significantly potent keys to what the Lord is doing in their nations and then globally.

These are ones whose common ground impels them as doers of the essentials of God's heart, along with flowing in the outworking of His presence. Untouched by the approval of man, personal ambition or the trappings of power, they produce spiritual ripples with roots that go deep.

The balance, between the agendas of God's heart and flowing in His presence can only come from the Spirit. One without the other will digress into deception and fall short. Simultaneously, together they are unstoppable.

The crux demands a grasp of applying this unique dimension of the anointing, together with the discipline of operating within the confines of God's set-times in applying His strategies. Stated alternately, in terms I have previously expressed in these posts: "It's not what we can do for God, but rather what we allow Him to do through us."

God's Strategies and Opportunity
For communities of believers bridging the gap with the broader community, one of the most effective strategies to maintain this balance and to release this anointing involves food.

Throughout the Bible are spiritually significant instances of eating together or of the provision of being fed. The practice has involved times of settling differences, making peace and establishing agreements.

Similarly, are the instances in which God's people are the catalysts of provision when the world encounters famine and judgment (Isaac, Joseph). In the same fashion, the biblical mandates of the feast-days have their foundations in God's people coming together and eating, as they are spiritually be refreshed and strengthened.

These are God's strategies that give opportunity for His presence.

Jesus' time with His disciples repeatedly describes significant spiritual times involving food and eating. From multiplying the loaves and fishes, to the disciples on the road to Emmaus, who after being with Him, only recognized Jesus in the breaking of bread, to Jesus feeding the disciples on the shore after His resurrection; again and again His power and presence find release through the provision of and the breaking of bread.

Within Agnes' ministry, along with feeding the poor, there was always ample food for those assembled and with that food, a fellowship that centered on the Lord.

Years ago, Carol and I began and led a home gathering that met on Saturday evenings. It was designed as a setting for the unreached international community of our city. It began with an hour of worship and prayer. We then would break for an array of international dishes brought by those attending, who also brought their unchurched friends.

People enjoying plates of food would stand around in small groups, discussing lives, needs and the Lord, many praying for one another, often leading members of their group in prayers ranging from repentance to needy requests. Because of the unique answers to prayer that the unchurched attending received, those gathering swelled to over 50. One month we had 16 people from this group who, having seen the reality of the Lord, got baptized in our church.

Gatherings with meals have served as strategies to effectively penetrate spiritual hardened cultures. I know of many instances of believers in tough spiritual climates having actuated change in the hearts of guests through the hosting of meals that included the simplicity of praying for their guests.

In each case, His presence was revealed. From the beginning, in God's order of things, it has been the simple things that confound the wise.

The Challenge
Having ministered in over 20 nations constrained and ruled by the forces of darkness, the issue involves tilling the spiritual soil that cover the roots of darkness and simply releasing His presence. Sometimes the barriers can be broken with nothing more than the simple request: "May I pray a blessing over you?" or "How can I pray for you?" to "May I speak a (prophetic) word of encouragement to you?"

While in Afghanistan in May of 2002, visiting with a high level minister of that nation, a bond of trust was created with our small group, when Barbara Wentroble opened the doors, with permission, with a "word of encouragement" to this man. He recognized and embraced it for what it was, a good word from the Lord. While the gifts employed may be different, they each serve to challenge the spiritual status quo with the goodness of God enabling His presence.

It's in the simple things that the depths are revealed. There is an intimacy and bond that comes from sharing a meal.

During our younger days, when our older kids were in high school, I established a practice on each Saturday of taking one of them out for breakfast. It was an opportunity, one-on-one, to listen and to close the gap on matters that made a difference. One summer, my nephew stayed for the summer, so I included him in this practice.

The first time we met, I sat there staring at him as he gave undistracted focus to digging into the array of items on his plate. I finally stopped him with the words, "Look, this is not about food!" Well, actually it was, but I needed to pull back the superficial in order to allow the entry into the depths. From that, came some really meaningful chats. Years later, as an adult, he shared with me the impact that those words and those times and what was released following them, had had on his life.

Touching the depths begins with opportunity that allows the consciousness of His presence. When that takes place, everything else realigns to the extent to which we then become carriers of His presence.

The Power from the Depths
What we refer to as miracles, in reality, are manifestations of the consciousness of His presence: the parting the Red Sea, Elijah calling down the fire, Jesus casting out demons, healing the sick and raising the dead. With His presence, darkness flees.

The consciousness of God's presence is both the end and the beginning in knowing Him. It is also the reality imparted in making Him known. At the same time, with His presence is His power, albeit the application of His power being the most misunderstand dimension of God since the days of the early church.

Whether as individuals or as a people, the constraints of man's spiritually-fallen condition limit our natural perceptions of the realities tied to an unlimited God. What we refer to as revival is, in short, a piercing of those constraints, as His conscious presence manifests to those, who together, have touched and held-on to this dimension of the reality of God.

"To the eyes of Israel the appearance of the glory of the LORD was like a consuming fire on the mountain top. So Moses entered the midst of the cloud, as he went up to the mountain." Ex 24:17-18

Sharing Love From Sweden - THE DEEPEST LOVE by Eva Haglund

THE DEEPEST LOVE

Sometimes people wonder if God loves them. There is no need to doubt that because God IS love and He made us because of love.

His love is not based what we do but because He choose to love us. In John 3:16 is written that SO loved God the world that He gave His Son, that whoever believe in Him will not perish but have eternal love.

We cannot do anything to be more loved. We are already loved by God.
Salvation is not given because we are working to be perfect. We can just be saved by grace because Jesus died for us for our sins and you receive Jesus.

Jesus, who was King in heaven, did not come as a hard leader. He came as a humble leader willing to serve as a servant. The purpose was not that He had to serve. He did it because He wanted to demonstrate His love. He showed us how to wash each other's feet. In the Body of Christ by showing care for each other much in friendship guided by God.

Jesus preached with His life the heart of God - a heart full of love and compassion and who cares. Jesus showed much life. He did not just talk beautiful words but showed love.

In James is it written, "What does it profit, brethren if someone says he has faith but does not have works?"

Jesus could have chosen to stay in heaven. It had been MUCH more comfortable. He did not have to come to the earth and suffer. But He CHOSE it because of His love.  Abba - our heavenly Daddy could have closed His eyes when we fell in sin.

Instead our Daddy did everything He could for us. His heart was crushed by His love to us and He wanted to do everything for us. The most precious He had was His son. He know there were no other way for people to get saved than to send His Son. He had pain in His heart when He had to see His Son suffer like His precious Lamb.

Abraham did not have to sacrifice his son but Abba - our Daddy in heaven gave everything for us. It really showed a heart of a father - a daddy who loves. He loved us so much.

Jesus was led as a lamb to the slaughter Isaiah 53:7. He did not come to the earth to make a position. He did not come to be like a king in honor, ruling in a hard way.

He did not come to win honor. He did not choose to be popular and rich and people screaming on a scene when they saw Him. He came in humility like a servant can be or humble like a child depending on a parent.

In His love He chose to be badly treated if that was the cost to save and rescue others.

This was real love. Isaiah 53 showed the heart of the father. It is a beautiful scripture showing Jesus love to us. It gives us a picture of Jesus. I sometimes sing from this scripture because I think it is wonderful showing who Jesus really is, showing His love.

Who has suffered like Jesus? Many people suffer today.

The One who has suffered most is Jesus. Even before the cross He suffered very much. He was mocked as king of the Jews. He was mocked as prophet. His friends left Him and one betrayed Him just before the terrible suffering at the cross.

Jesus had so much agony in Gethsemane because He knew before that it was a terrible pain He had to suffer. That is why He had so much agony - the biggest agony but ANYWAY He chose to go this way of suffering.

He was scourged and people put a red robe and a crown of thorns to show their hate. People people shouted "Crucify". This was a price a prophet can have to pay - sufferings and to be rejected.

Jesus  was a REAL prophet and God's Son. He payed the price. He was willing to suffer for truth and loves sake. Jesus chose to show love when it was very difficult.  He chose to suffer when it was necessary for the sheep.

It is written in 1 Cor 13 that "love does not seek it's own."

We can have suffered much but compared with Jesus sufferings it is just a glimpse because His suffering for us was so big. We do not understand how big it was.

He really was ready to suffer  because of His love.

The greatest love was shown at Calvary when Jesus had so much pain for us nailed at His hands and feet. The greatest suffering preached the greatest love anyone has showed.

Yeshua gave everything for us at the cross because He LOVES us so much!

The COST for the sheep was the CROSS -  His deepest love.

Eva Haglund

Messianic Pastor: How to Pray for Israel in This Dark Hour

Messianic Pastor: How to Pray for Israel in This Dark Hour

Sunday, July 06, 2014 |  David Lazarus
The following is a timely article by David Lazarus, a regular contributor to Israel Today and pastor of the Messianic congregation Beit Immanuel in Tel Aviv.
This has been another hard week for Israel. With barely time to mourn the loss of our 3 murdered teenagers, war drums are pounding again – both within and beyond our tiny borders.
How should we pray for Jerusalem in this terrible hour? One of Judaism's oldest prayers, recited more than any other blessing, gives us guidance to face the unique challenges of these difficult times.
The Aaronic Blessing is packed with beauty and meaning for such a time as this.
The first section - "May the Lord bless you and Keep you" asks G-d to prosper us with material and physical well-being. Here we are commanded to recall that He is our ultimate protection, and not only our own efforts.
May we turn our faces to the Lord in this difficult hour to the "Keeper of Israel and the Shield of Abraham."
Let us not allow the stones thrown at us become a stumbling block, but may they become footsteps drawing us closer to Him.
The second section – "The Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you" asks the Almighty to grant us wisdom ("Ya'er" is related to the word "Or" – light, a metaphor for wisdom). We cannot live by gut reactions alone. When in trouble, it is time to fall on our faces G-d and allow His face to shine on us. It is in the midst of uncertainly and danger that we must pray, "Your will be done, and not mine…"
This is also a plea that we should find favor (gracious in the Hebrew) with G-d so that others should be built up with our teachings. His wisdom does not make us so arrogant that people resent us. This is especially true when we are angry and hurt and want to lash out at others, and our nation is seething right now. Let us ask the Lord to be gracious to Israel so that we might find favor with Him especially as we face of such turmoil.
The third section - "The Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace" calls us to look at our Lord right in the eye. When a person does not conduct himself properly and knows that he is wrong, even in the face of danger, he cannot face his Lord, nor can he face others with integrity. But when we do the right thing, we can lift up our heads in the sight of G-d, and this, in turn, evokes a similar response from the Lord.
When our gaze meets our Maker, we are at Peace, and there is no greater strength than to walk in the light and be in fellowship with the will of G-d.
These are the blessings we should have in mind as we pray for Israel. Security, wisdom, humility, favor with G-d and the peace that comes from knowing that we are doing the right thing. When we live like this "in the image of G-d," we will bring Shalom not only to ourselves, but to the entire world.
