"Contending For The Top Of The Mountain" - Angela Greenig

"Contending For The Top Of The Mountain"
Angela Greenig, Bonney Lake, WA
The Elijah List

We must continue to battle upward. The battle has been wearing, and for some it has been too much, but do not give up! Contend for what belongs to you and also for the Body of Christ! This Yom Kippur has been one that I have never experienced before, and the increase will continue to flow over into 2015.

It is time for the tearing down of strongholds and, even if you can't see your promises right now, believe that darkness is crumbling under your feet in the name of the Lord Jesus. It is happening!!!

We are as in Isaiah 45:1-3 where the word decrees: "Thus says the Lord to His anointed, to Cyrus, whose right hand I have held to subdue nations before him, and I will unarm and ungird the loins of kings to open doors before him, so that gates will not be shut. I will go before you and level the mountains [to make the crooked places straight]; I will break in pieces the doors of bronze and cut asunder the bars of iron. And I will give you the treasures of darkness and hidden riches of secret places, so you may know that it is I, the Lord, the God of Israel, Who calls you by your name."

Yes, the Father is calling all of us to rise and shine, for His light is in us brighter, and we are stronger than ever before.

I personally find how interesting this season has been since we have had very different weather patterns and blood moons, but God calls them signs – signals not only here in America, but throughout the world. Power always operates in the natural, but authority operates in the natural and the spiritual.

(Photo by Jennifer Page "Brush of Angels  Wings" via elijahshopper.com)

I saw tsunamis and major paradigm shifting that did hit on Yom Kippur. It's in the spiritual, but you will see it here on earth accompanied by the breakthrough.

A Golden Glory – A Signal From Heaven

I saw in the spirit pockets of pure gold radiating from the earth. It looked like miles and miles of glory – a golden glory. It was a sign – a signal into Heaven. Legions and legions of angels [God's mighty warriors] were dispatched. They have been waiting to execute the will of the Father. I saw underground ley lines where the enemy had planned to take out cities, villages, and even countries but they were being thwarted. (Photo by Jennifer Page "Warrior Angel" via elijahshopper.com)

Michael's sword went into the ground and a shaft of light, the most brilliant blue color, reversed the ley lines. I saw them ricochet, not only on the West Coast but all over the world. It was our prayers that moved the mountains and threw them into the abyss.

In the last days we must keep our eyes on Christ the King, because one day we will see Isaiah 2 decrees: "In the last days the mountain of the LORD's temple will be established as the highest of the mountains; it will be exalted above the hills, and all nations will stream to it. Many peoples will come and say, "Come, let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the temple of the God of Jacob. He will teach us His ways, so that we may walk in His paths." The law will go out from Zion, the word of the LORD from Jerusalem. He will judge between the nations and will settle disputes for many peoples. They will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will not take up sword against nation, nor will they train for war anymore."

God's Church is Alive!
Another angel who was accompanying Michael, blew a sound in the airwaves and I was directed immediately to Micah 4:6-8:
"In that day," declares the LORD, "I will gather the lame; I will assemble the exiles and those I have brought to grief. I will make the lame My remnant, those driven away a strong nation. The LORD will rule over them in Mount Zion from that day and forever. As for you, watchtower of the flock, stronghold of Daughter Zion, the former dominion will be restored to you; kingship will come to Daughter Jerusalem."

(Photo by Jennifer Page "Heaven's Dance" via elijahshopper.com)

We have taken our rightful seats of authority. No matter what many may say, God's Church is alive and flourishing!!!

Be bold, save souls, pray for those who are in great darkness, and have NO Fear, for you are a child of the great I Am. Go forward, Church, for we have entered our finest hour!

Israel's Dreamers: Heroes and the Shaping of a Nation

Israel's Dreamers: Heroes and the Shaping of a Nation

JERUSALEM, Israel -- It was a war that changed the Middle East and it only lasted six days.

"The Temple Mount is in our hands!" Those were the famous words of Commander Motta Gur, whose men helped reunite Jerusalem under Jewish sovereignty during the 1967 Six-Day War, fulfilling a 2,000-year-old dream.

Like Dreamers: The Story of the Israeli Paratroopers who Reunited Jerusalem and Divided a Nation is a new book about the battle that reunited Jerusalem and how the heroes of that battle went on to shape Israel.

"This is really a story of an Israeli band of brothers, young Israeli men who gave the Jewish people their greatest victory, I would say in history, probably since the exodus in Egypt," author Yossi Klein Halevi said. "You know, suddenly, we're born again as a people."

In a recent interview in Jerusalem, CBN's Scott Ross spoke with American-born Israeli Halevi about his book.

The title comes from Psalm 126, which says, "When the Lord brought back the captivity of Zion, we were like those who dream. Then our mouth was filled with laughter and our tongue with singing."

In the book, Halevi personalizes the history of Israel since the 1967 war by telling the story through the eyes of six paratroopers who were such dreamers.

"I felt that what was missing in the way people relate to the story of Israel was that personal connection," Halevi told CBN News.

"And I always wondered, you know, what happened to the guys who liberated the Western Wall in 1967?"

He said he grew up with that iconic picture of the battle-hardened soldiers staring up at the Wall as an image "symbolizing the 'like dreamers' story of Israel."

He said the paths the paratroopers have taken in his story reflect the microcosm of the stories in the development of Israel.

"The range that you have in this book are deeply religious people, West Bank [Judea and Samaria] settlers, secular Israelis, Tel Aviv residents, kibbutz-niks, left-wingers. And it was very important for me to tell the story of the whole people of Israel because the way that I understand the Jewish people is that we're a family," Halevi said.

Halevi said he spent 12 of his 32 years in Israel researching and writing the book.

"One of my characters, Arik Achmon, who was one of the first Israeli paratroopers into the Old City in 1967 -- and actually led the crossing of the Suez Canal in the Yom Kippur War of 1973, you know when Ariel Sharon turned the tide of battle in the Yom Kippur War, it was the same guys who fought in Jerusalem in '67," Halevi said.

Achmon "starts off as a boy living on one of these socialist, radical socialist kibbutzim, little agrarian settlement," Halevi explained. "And he leaves the kibbutz and ends up becoming the CEO of Israel's domestic airline and he privatizes -- Israeli's economy was socialist in those years."

"He fights the trade unions and he creates the first privatized company in the State of Israel and opens the way to the high-tech free economy that we have today. So for me, Arik Achmon, is a multiple hero," he said.

Meir Ariel, the greatest Hebrew poet-singer of his generation, became known as Israel's Bob Dylan.

Hanan Port founded Kfar Etzion, the first settlement in Judea and Samaria after 1967.

Halevi says his book tries to show the struggle within the Israeli soul over making peace with the Palestinians and dividing Jerusalem.

"[In] my neighborhood, I've got Jewish neighbors; I've got Arab neighbors in the same neighborhood, in the same building. Now, how do you separate that? How do you divide a city without -- God forbid -- destroying it?" he asked.

"I don't see how Jerusalem can be shared between two political entities that are emerging out of a 100-year war," he said.

As someone who lives in Jerusalem, Halevi said he prays for himself that he "personally should be worthy of living here -- of holding this story at this moment. I pray that the people of Israel will be worthy of this story."

"I pray for our strength. I pray for our generosity of spirit. I pray that we be protected from hatred -- that our hearts be open to love all the people of this land and all those who turn toward the city with hope, and I pray for all of us," he said. "That's my prayer."

7 Positive End-Times Signs Unfolding Now

Not all signs related to the return of Christ are negative (as are wars, famines, earthquakes, and so on) in nature. Many are very encouraging and exciting. There are seven events that have transpired and are continuing to unfold that are a part of the restitution and give evidence of the coming of Christ. They are:
  1. Israel would be restored as a nation in one day (Isa. 66:7-8; Zech. 3:9; Hos. 3:4-5).
  2. The land would begin to blossom and be fruitful (Isa. 35:1-8; 27:6).
  3. Water would break out in the desert for irrigation (Isa. 35:6-7; 41:18).
  4. Jerusalem would be in Jewish hands and expand its borders (Ps. 102:16).
  5. Jews from Gentile nations outside Palestine would return back to Israel (Isa. 43:5-6; Jer. 16:14-16).
  6. The early and latter rains would return in the last days (Hos. 6:3; Joel 2:23; Amos 4:7).
  7. The walls of Jerusalem would be rebuilt by strangers and the gates be open continually (Isa. 60:1-11).
Israel's restoration process began during the 1800s with the birth of the Zionist Movement, but it was manifested to the world on May 14-15, 1948, when David Ben-Gurion made a proclamation declaring a new state for Jews called Israel. Part of the proclamation read: "The State of Israel will be open for immigration of Jews from all countries of their dispersion." Within hours, Arab armies advanced toward the infant nation to abort the plan. Just as ancient Israel had to deal with seven nations living around them in Joshua's time (Deut. 7:1), in 1948 the Jews had to deal with troops from seven surrounding Arab nations who announced the Jews would be "thrown into the sea." A war of independence was waged in which Israel survived against amazing odds. Today they boast one of the most advanced militaries in the world.
One of Ben-Gurion's goals was to fulfill the prophecy of Isaiah and make the desert blossom with vegetation. In 1953, at age 67, Ben-Gurion resigned as prime minister of Israel to pursue his dream. This former Israeli leader and his wife, Paula, moved into a three-room wooden prefab hut at Sde Boker in the desolate Negev Desert. It was a dry, empty, sun-baked landscape. Years later, Beersheba, the hometown of Abraham, became a large town, and today more than 54 farms are scattered throughout a region called the Arabah—the Negev and the southern part of Israel—producing tomatoes, peppers, melons and a host of fruits and vegetables. Today, the desert is blossoming.
Ben-Gurion and other early Israeli settlers were also responsible for laying water pipelines to assist in irrigation. Years later, U.S. satellites discovered a huge reservoir of water under the desert, which today is pumped out and is the lifeblood used in the drip irrigation process, enabling the desert to blossom with agricultural life.
In 1967, Egyptian military forces, headed by Egyptian president Gamal Abdel Nasser, threatened Israel and were planning an attack. Israel preempted the assault with an air campaign, destroying Egypt's air force while the planes were still on the runway. During this Six-Day War involving Egypt, Jordan, and Syria, Israeli paratroopers seized the eastern (Arab) half of Jerusalem. At this time, this section was known as the country of Transjordan. At the conclusion of the war, Israel annexed both East and West Jerusalem together, forming a united Jerusalem under Israeli control. At that moment Jerusalem was united as one city without walls and became the long-promised capital of Israel.
Although from 1948 to 1967 Jews continually immigrated to Israel from surrounding nations, the Russian Jews living behind the Iron Curtain were forbidden visas to exit the communist stronghold. In the latter part of the 1980s, with the approval of Mikhail Gorbachev, Jews received visas to return from the north country of the Soviet Union back to Israel, thus fulfilling the promises God gave them through Jeremiah and Isaiah thousands of years ago.
Years later, in the early 1990s, there was a sudden return of the physical rains that soaked the soil of Israel, thus replenishing and nourishing the farmland, the deserts and the Upper Golan Heights. As the windows of heaven were opened, once-dry riverbeds were flowing with fresh water. It was a sign of the return of the latter rains upon the land.
Today, the old city of Jerusalem is shared by the world's three monotheistic religions: Islam, Judaism and Christianity. Out of the eight gates built in the walls of the old city, only one, the Eastern Gate, remains sealed with large stones. All other gates are opened to citizens and visitors. Children are seen strolling along the streets continually amidst noisy buses and cars, occasionally darting in and out of the crowd that fills avenues throughout the day.

Messianic Judaism Gaining Momentum in Israel

Messianic Judaism Gaining Momentum in Israel

Messianic Judaism
Worship time at Emmanuel Messianic Jewish Congregation (Barry Rubin)
In recent decades, Messianic Judaism, a movement of Jewish people who have accepted Yeshua (Jesus) as Messiah and continued to embrace their Jewishness, has been steadily growing—especially in the United States.
Jews have been coming to faith in Yeshua for centuries, increasingly so after Israel became a reality again in the late 1800s with the Zionist movement. After the Holocaust, when Israel became a nation again in 1948, the number of Jewish believers in Yeshua has been increasing worldwide, almost in lock step with Jewish immigration to Israel.
But what is the state of Messianic Judaism in Israel itself?
Because Israel is in an extremely dangerous area of the world, surrounded by Arab countries that have threatened its extermination, Jews there live with a certain amount of anxiety. When would the next Intifada take place? Which country would declare its desire to push Israel into the sea? When would Hamas rockets fly again?
Living with those concerns, the people have become cautious about "outsiders," especially after nearly two millennia of "Christian" anti-Semitism. Thus, Christian missions to the Jews of Israel often have been met with suspicion. Yet some have been successful, especially if they are sensitive to and supportive of Messianic Judaism.
There are historic Anglican Jewish missions from the United Kingdom. King of Kings (kkcj.org) is a congregational ministry of the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada. The Caspari Center (caspari.com) is a Scandinavian Lutheran mission to the Jews. Christian Witness to Israel (cwi.org.uk) sponsors Grace and Truth congregation in Rishon L'Tzion. They also publish books, as does Keren Yeshua.
Modern Jewish missions are also active in Israel. Jews for Jesus (jewsforjesus.org) has a new center in Tel Aviv. The Christian Jew Foundation (cjfm.org), not only does missionary work, it also supports a number of national pastors. Chosen People Ministries (chosenpeople.com) has centers in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv and congregations in Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Ashkelon, Ashdod and Ariel. Maoz (maozisrael.org) is an Israeli organization that publishes books in Hebrew and supports Israel while helping Jewish people meet their Messiah. There are others as well, but, as with most overseas missions, indigenous works have had the most success. Nowhere is this truer than in Israel.
The primary evangelistic work in Israel is not through missions. It is being done through local Messianic congregations. The larger ones are in Tiberias, K'far Saba, Netanya, Jerusalem and Joffa. There are 150-plus congregations in Israel with as many as 15,000 Messianic Jewish believers, of whom about 60 percent speak Russian as their first language.
The growth in the number of congregations has increased over the last 20 years, just as it has in the United States and other countries. Nearly every year, another indigenous congregation or two springs up, and as more and more Jews from around the world return home, this will only increase.
Israel is a small country—about the size of New Jersey—so these congregations are easily noticed by their fellow Israelis. More and more, Israel is increasingly aware that there are Jews who trust Yeshua as the Messiah and savior, much as it was in the New Testament era.
These Messianic Jewish congregations are now led by Israelis, even though they may have a mix of Jews and Gentiles. Most services are in Hebrew (sometimes Russian, Amharic, French or Spanish). The music too is indigenous, as is the style of worship —very Israeli. The melodies have a distinctly Middle Eastern tone to them. Most meet on Saturday when Jews generally hold worship services. These congregations of Yeshua-followers are clearly Jewish.
Messianic Jews are gaining more acceptance in Israel. Instead of being perceived as threats to the Israelis, due to prejudices going back 2,000 years, they are recognized as friends, fellow citizens, and an active part of Israeli society. In part, the groundwork for this was laid by the benevolence work of groups such as Chosen People Ministries (chosenpeople.com), The Joseph Storehouse (www.visionforisrael.com), the Messianic Jewish Alliance of America's Joseph Project (mjaa.org), and other similar works.
Israelis, who have been especially challenged during the wars with Lebanon, Hamas and the high taxes used to pay for defense, are grateful to Messianic Jews, sometimes in spite of themselves, for food, clothes, medicine and other supplies. They need our help. This is a very tangible expression of the love of Messiah. Messianic Jews are being trusted enough to allow them to materially assist Israel during her most difficult times.
It is known that there are many Messianic Jews serving in the army—mostly the children of immigrants from the United States and Europe—who were raised in Israel. This shows unity with the people, so much so that the funeral of one Messianic Jewish soldier killed in the last war was well attended by Israel's leaders. The newspapers noted that he was a Messianic Jew, part of a congregation in the Haifa area.
A television special featuring interviews of members of the Christian Moshav, Yad Hashmonah, was widely watched. It included a Messianic Jewish family celebrating Shabbat, etc., giving a very good impression of Messianic Jews in Israel. No longer are followers of Yeshua seen as people to stay away from. Now, they are embraced as fellow strugglers in Israeli life.
Over the past centuries, because of all the atrocities done to Jews in the name of Jesus, Jewish people have avoided having anything to do with Him, His followers, or His teachings. It was too costly, too risky. And in Israel, where people are more vulnerable to attacks, this is acutely so. But Messianic Judaism is changing things. Now, Israelis are more open to talking about Yeshua and considering his claims to Messiahship.
The congregational leaders in Israel need connections with pastors in the West. Many would appreciate prayer, fellowship and sometimes even financial support for special projects.
Western pastors have a lot to give to Israel's Messianic leaders by way of training and guidance, as well as prayer. Most Israeli pastors do not have much formal training and would benefit from partnering with non-Israeli pastors. Most Israeli pastors are pioneers and need more seasoned spiritual mentors to guide them.
Encouragingly, the perception of Messianic Jews is undergoing a steady transformation in Israel these days—from one of mistrust and outright loathing to recognition and acceptance. Knowing the love of Yeshua in the Messianics' hearts, the bridge between them and Orthodox Jews is getting shorter all the time. Doors to hearts once closed are beginning to open wide.

Today's Israel Inspiration

We learn in the Bible about how the Jewish priests (the "kohanim") would assist the people in bringing gifts of offerings in the Temple so they could feel closer to God. Sometimes the offering was given just for the love of God, and sometimes it was given to show gratitude or repentance. In our lives, gifts have a similar, positive effect of bringing people closer together, and thus we are taught by our Sages that generally, a gift should not be given anonymously, but rather in a way that brings together the hearts of the giver and the recipient. Come closer today to a loved one with a gift from Israel!

Why Does It Have To Be This Way?

A few days ago I was on my way to some appointments and though I had given myself ample time to get there, I ended up being late because I was detoured by road construction.  Since I was alone in my car I was quite verbal about my irritation at the unexpected delay. After having gone several miles out of my way I was able to turn around and get back on the road I needed to be on.   After finally getting to my destination I completed my appointments as planned.

Now, I am back in a long line of cars waiting to get back onto the same torn-up road so I can go home. Again, I am verbalizing my frustration when I hear a little laughter in my spirit. Then I heard, "you asked for it."  I heard it again, "you asked for it."  I knew it was the Holy Spirit who was speaking, so I replied, "I did not ask for this mess." Then I remembered just a couple of weeks earlier I had told my husband that the very road I was stuck on, needed to be repaired; and here I was in the middle of those repairs.

All the way home, I thought of that construction zone. The detours - the big orange road cones - the flashing yellow lights warning you not to run over the big orange road cones - and the policeman in the middle of the road telling you where NOT to go. All of that reminded me of what my life has looked like these past years - one great big construction zone.

But I Wanted it this Way

The Holy Spirit reminded me, I had asked for that as well. He reminded me of all the years I had sought after the Lord. The prayers I had prayed, not my will but Yours be done Lord. The hunger in my heart to be more like my heavenly Father. At the time I had no idea where those prayers were going to take me or what changes had to be made for those prayers to be accomplished. He reminded me of the time I told the Father, I wanted him to "bless me the way he had blessed Abraham." He answered me by saying, "I am lining you up, so I can bless you."  I did not understand at the time what he meant, but I do now. It's not that I was out of line, but I needed to be made ready for INCREASE - for the MORE I was asking for.

So many of Father's children have been under construction in the past season. Some have had their lives completely torn up. Some have had to undergo a complete tear down. We have all seen what has to happen when the city makes improvements to the big sewer lines that run alongside the city streets.
  • They first tear up the street, taking it down below the dirt line.
  • Then they dig big holes to take out the old pipes.
  • Then they cover the holes with those big steel plates and every time you drive over them they make a loud clanking sound.
I hate driving over those things. I'm always afraid they will cave in on me. All of these tear-downs have to be done for the improvements to be made. Sometimes these improvements can take several months if not years to complete and the detours created by these construction zones become a way of life.

Will it Ever Be Done?

I'm sure that for you, like me, it is difficult to understand that the tear-downs we go through are really improvements being made. When you want to go to "A," it's hard to understand why you have to go through "C" to get there. Why does it have to take so long when you just wanted a little more money in your pocket, or have a greater vision for ministry? Surely those prayers don't require our entire lives  being torn apart. I have often told the Father, I promise never to ask for anything, or use my faith again if You will just put everything back the way it was. Fortunately, He does not listen to my complaints.  He just keeps on making the improvements that need to be made.

The scripture says we go "from glory to glory" (2 Corinthians 3:18).  From revelation to revelation. New wine cannot be put into old wine skins (Mark 2:22). All of the pain and suffering that the body of Christ has gone through in this past season has been to bring about the greater glory. The scripture says the latter rain will be greater-greater-greater than the former rains (Joel 2:23).  We are now in the time of the latter rain. Though many are road weary and covered in dust, the unveiling of the "NEW YOU," and the "NEW ME," is about to take place. Right now only the Father knows what the finished product really looks like. We who have been unrecognizable in this past season will be reconstructed and covered in His glory.

His Work is Always Best

Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord. 2 Corinthains 3:16-18 (NKJV)

The Father will proudly display His sons and daughters for the whole world to see. He will turn our sorrow into laughter. (Psalms 30:11)  Though we have drank the drink of sorrow, eaten the bread of affliction we will rejoice in His goodness and be a reflection of His glory.

Though your destiny may seem a million miles away it is just a blink away. The tear-downs are almost done and the "NEW YOU" is being completed, and you sure look GREAT!  Stand STILL and SEE the salvation of the Lord.

I bless you in the name of the Lord.

Messianic Video Series Answers Rabbis' Objections to Jesus

Messianic Video Series Answers Rabbis' Objections to Jesus

Tuesday, December 02, 2014 |  Israel Today Staff
What started as a brief set of video responses to anti-Messianic activists in Israel (see below) has blossomed into a new online initiative featuring no fewer than 52 short clips answering the most pressing rabbinical objections to Yeshua (Jesus).
A new Hebrew-language website (messiah.co.il) presents the videos produced by local Messianic media professionals Eitan Bar and Moti Vaknin of the Internet-based ministry “One for Israel.”
The videos and website are “our most advanced production so far, and perhaps the most advanced in Jewish Evangelism until today,” wrote Bar. “In these videos we expose how the Rabbis have been keeping Jesus a secret from Israel for over 2,000 years. We even quote ancient Jewish sources showing that the Old Testament prophecies we refer people to were interpreted in the past just as we interpret them today - as being about the Messiah!”
Israel Today has written before about One for Israel, which is taking a fresh approach to evangelism in the Jewish state. Israeli society is one of the most “online” in the world, and recent statistics showed that every month 18,000 Israelis search Google for the term “redemption,” and over 22,000 search for “Yeshua.”
Some of the topics addressed in the new video series include:
  • Why do the rabbis really reject Jesus?
  • Can you be Jewish and believe in Jesus?
  • Is the Messiah supposed to rule like King David or suffer like Joseph?
  • Is the Messiah an incarnation of God in flesh and blood?
  • Is the New Testament Anti-Semitic?
  • Son of God: a pagan concept, or a Biblical one?
  • Does the New Testament claim that Israel have been rejected or replaced?
Below are the two original videos published by Eitan and Moti with English subtitles:
