Keep Walking - Now Think On This by Steve Martin

Keep Walking
Now Think On This
by Steve Martin

“Do you see what this means — all these pioneers who blazed the way, all these veterans cheering us on? It means we'd better get on with it. Strip down, start running — and never quit! No extra spiritual fat, no parasitic sins.

Keep your eyes on Jesus, who both began and finished this race we're in. Study how he did it. Because he never lost sight of where he was headed — that exhilarating finish in and with God — he could put up with anything along the way: cross, shame, whatever. And now he's there, in the place of honor, right alongside God.

When you find yourselves flagging in your faith, go over that story again, item by item, that long litany of hostility he plowed through. That will shoot adrenaline into your souls!” (Hebrews 12:1-3 The Message)

Hanging on our family room wall is a worn out record album. You can see that it had gotten much use during it’s time from 1976 on. The cover itself, framed in black with a glass covering, has special meaning to me. Whenever I see it, going in and out of that room, it reminds me of the need to keep walking in faith, and to keep my hand to the plow.

The black 33 1/3 vinyl enclosed within is entitled Hand To The Plow, one of Paul Clark’s many albums produced during the time of my early Christian walk. To this day he is still a Christian guitarist and soloist, though maybe not as well known.

On the front of that framed piece of artwork, in simple black and white color, is a pair of well worn, rather hairy hands. They surely had seen better days in their prime years. But these calloused hands were still holding onto the wooden plow. Obviously they were preparing the fields for another harvest yet to come. They had faithfully kept walking as the seasons went by.

Growing up in Minnesota and Iowa (located in the Midwest of America, for the sake of the international readers) I had plenty of summer opportunities to be on a working farm. Of the 11 uncles I had (both sides of the family) I remember at least four of them raising their families on farms. Each would put in the annual field crops, in addition to all the dairy cows, pigs, sheep, chickens or all of the above.

In those years from 1954 -1970, tractors had long since taken over the single steel blade as the method of plowing. But being aware of how the early pioneers had to sweat, endure, and pray to the Lord of the weather for favor, I understood what it would have physically cost to keep those hands on the plow to prepare the black soil.

Staying on the path takes courage and commitment. The apostle Paul wrote to disciple Timothy to be continually mindful of the prophetic words spoken over him in his faith walk. In order to do that in my own life I transcribed all prophetic words that had been recorded. Keeping them in a three ring binder for easy access, and also saved on my laptop, it is an encouraging reminder to go back and read what the Lord had spoken through His people.

We often need to be reminded of that which the Lord has revealed to us in our earlier years. In February, 2007, that was such a time for me.

After a period of discouragement in my life, I sought the Lord for a prophetic word. What amazes me now, looking back (October, 2015 as I write this), little did I know that three years later, in July of 2010, I would leave a $70,000 a year ministry director position, with full benefits, to start our own new ministry organization called Love For His People, Inc.

When I filed my income tax for 2011, my individual total taxable income had fallen to $11,000 for that year. Needless to say, either I had missed the Lord or He was doing a deep work in my spirit, soul and body. Not only for myself, but also for Laurie my wife. (We are thankful she still had her part time day care job.)

The following is a prophetic word that I still read as a reminder to this day. It helps me to keep walking the walk and my hands on the plow.

As transcribed from the cassette tape that was recorded that night:

Robbie Phillips, from Columbia, SC, met with a group at Michael & Mary Ann Blade's home in Charlotte, NC. Here is a word prophesied to me.

Robbie Phillips: We call for the blessings of God. Everything he puts his hands to, bless. Everything he puts his hands to, bless, in Jesus’ name.

It seems to me in your work – talk about plowing – brother it seems to me that you have been plowing and plowing and plowing and plowing and plowing and plowing. And there is a verse in Haggai. In Haggai it is in the negative sense but in your case it is in the positive sense, where the word of the prophet was that you have sown much but have harvested little.

And it seems to me that in the ministry that you have been in the last few years, that you have sown far more than what you have seen coming back. But it’s almost like as I see you are going down, like you have one of the old time plows and you have an oxen or a mule or something ahead of you, and here you are, just getting it done day after day, week after week, month after month, year after year.

And it’s like I see this tremendously long row, and there is this man standing there, and he has a linen garment on, he’s right out of Ezekiel, and you recognize that this is an angelic visitor, and you stop, and he says, “Steve, look behind you. And you look back and you thought you had been plowing, but in the distance, where you had plowed a long time ago, whole forests have sprung up, and they are seeding new forests, and right behind you there has been an acceleration of what God is doing in your ministry, so that it’s not just a place where you just plowed, but there are already small trees that have sprung up even a few feet behind you.

And I see about you, I think it is just trickling in now, but I see the blessings of God beginning to come now, to the point where they are going to overtake you. It talks about when you are faithful to the Lord, and in the 7th year when the land has the Sabbath, that you don’t need to worry about plowing and harvesting in that 7th year, because what you sowed three years before, and the next year and the following year, will all seem to come in on top of you at one time, and you will have more than enough, in fact you will have so much coming in, that you will have to move out some of the old to bring the new in.

And I see the blessing of the Lord and it’s like you have been looking and trusting God for His faithfulness and you are going to see a demonstration of the faithfulness of God and not just in spiritual things but in financial ways and material ways.

I see you, brother, you riding the high places of the earth with the Lord. I see you at 50,000 feet in jet liners just about all the time, flying all over the world. I see you a connector in the hand of the Lord. I see you being behind the scenes man, much of the time, major conferences and things like that, but the people that really know, the people that are the shakers and the movers in the Kingdom, the people that are well known, they’ll say that if you really want to meet a shaker and a mover, then you go and meet Steve Martin. He’s the guy behind the scenes, and he’s the guy that really gets things done.

And I see you being able to go to Scandinavian countries, European countries, the countries of the Far East, South America, all over the world, and I see you having contacts all over the world, and I see you being able to be used of the Lord to connect this person on one end of the world to a person over here and to bring things together in just the right timing of the Lord.

I see a tremendous amount of influence in your life, and I see that teaching anointing of your life. I see situation, particularly with leadership, it seems to me the Lord, just like with Elijah, suddenly “Boom!” out of nowhere Elijah appears, he wasn’t there one day and suddenly he’s the talk of the nation and I see the Lord just suddenly revealing you, revealing a teaching anointing, particularly for leadership and with leaders, and a lot of it having to do with the holiness of God, and your own personal, their own personal walk with God, the things that are near and dear to your heart, about right relationships with your wife and your family. How your relationships with that, how those dynamics work, things that really matter. The nitty gritty stuff that drive the kingdom. These things being those that are really near to your heart.

Being able to be a real impact to people who are key leaders. But I see that in a teaching format, even more so than your own personal encouragement and strengthening. I see the Lord giving you teachings to begin to bring to leadership, in due season.”

We know that not all personal prophetic words may come to pass, for a variety of reasons. (Another message for another day.) But there are several spoken in this word from that 2007 date that have since been fulfilled already. I anticipate that more of them will be in the years ahead.

I shared this to encourage you to keep believing the Lord on your faith walk. There are many days when things don’t look like they are moving; when advancement would be great if even just a step forward happened one day, rather than the two steps backward that seemed to occur yesterday. We must keep pressing on towards the goal set before us. (Philippians 3:14)

Winston Churchill is famously known for a simple but profound speech he gave, where he walked out onto the stage, said, “Never, never, never give up” and then walked off.

Scripture also encourages us to never quit, but to keep walking and standing firm in our commitment to the Lord and His eternal purposes.

“Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm.

Stand firm therefore, HAVING GIRDED YOUR LOINS WITH TRUTH, and HAVING PUT ON THE BREASTPLATE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS, and having shod YOUR FEET WITH THE PREPARATION OF THE GOSPEL OF PEACE; in addition to all, taking up the shield of faith with which you will be able to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. And take THE HELMET OF SALVATION, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.” (Ephesians 6:11-17 NASU)

Days of trial and tribulations are coming even more so on the earth. For many believers in the Middle East and the Far East, they can’t get much worse than what they already are. But wherever we find ourselves, we are called to stand in the power of the Lord’s might, and be witnesses in the nations.

The Lord God Almighty, Victor of All, is on His eternal throne in heaven, along with many witnesses who have gone on before us, interceding and cheering us on.

Keep walking.

Our high school kids: tired, stressed and bored - USA TODAY

Our high school kids: tired, stressed and bored

When they're at school, the kids are decidedly not all right.
New survey findings suggest that when asked how they feel during the school day, USA high school students consistently invoke three key feelings: "tired," "stressed" and "bored."
The researcher who led the study warns that such negative feelings can influence young people's attention, memory, decision making, school performance and social lives.
"It's hard to concentrate and it's hard to do well in school if your brain is constantly having to respond to stress," said Marc Brackett, a researcher in the Yale University Department of Psychology and director of the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence.
The new findings, out Friday, are from a survey conducted in collaboration with theBorn This Way Foundation, the charitable organization founded by the singer Lady Gaga. The survey was supported by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
The student sample is huge: 22,000 high school students from across the USA.
The message is clear: our high schoolers are none too happy, at least when they're in school.
Researchers distributed a brief online questionnaire that featured the question: "How do you currently feel in school?" Three blank spaces followed, with room for any answers they felt were appropriate.
Eight of the top 10 responses were negative.
"Tired" was most often invoked — 39% of students wrote that.
"Stressed" came in second, at 29%. "Bored" was third, at 26%.
By contrast, the two most frequently invoked positive emotions were "happy" (22%) and "excited (4.7%).
Parents and educators should be alarmed by the findings, Brackett said.
"I think they point to the fact that we need to be attending to the feelings of our nation's youth," he said. "Unless what they're learning is engaging and interesting, they're going to be bored — the boredom is related to the quality of instruction."
In the sample, female respondents outnumbered males about two-to-one — 65% identified themselves as female and 32% as male; 3% indicated "other."
But Brackett said the happiness findings were "pretty much identical" across genders.
"It's a shame that much of our nation's education system is not focused on helping kids figure out their own goals, but rather (on) a standardized curriculum," he said.

Love For His People Editor's Note: Removing any and all spiritual life from school leaves them as such. My opinion.

Thousands flee as "Fiercest-ever hurricane" nears Mexico (245 MILES PER HOUR top winds) - USA TODAY

Thousands flee as fiercest-ever hurricane nears Mexico

Thousands are fleeing Mexico as Hurricane Patricia bears down on the country. Packing sustained winds of 200 mph, wind gusts could reach up to 245 mph. WTSP-TV
 MONTERREY, Mexico —
Tens of thousands of people were being evacuated Friday from Mexico's Pacific coast as the strongest hurricane ever recorded in the Western Hemisphere bore down on the popular tourist area packing sustained winds of 200 mph.
The U.S. National Hurricane Center predicted the Category 5 Hurricane Patricia would make a "potentially catastrophic landfall" in southwestern Mexico later in the day.
The center described the storm as the most powerful ever recorded in the eastern Pacific or Atlantic basins. It warned of powerful winds and torrential rain that could bring life-threatening flash flooding and dangerous, destructive storm surge.
"Patricia is one of the strongest tropical cyclones globally ever observed," said WeatherBell meteorologist Ryan Maue, "based on lowest central pressure and maximum surface (and flight level) wind speed since the dawn of aviation-based reconnaissance in the 1940s."
Patricia's winds intensified a whopping 109 mph during Thursday, rising from a tropical storm to a Category 4 hurricane. It was the fastest intensification ever recorded in the eastern Pacific Ocean, according to meteorologist Phil Klotzbach of Colorado State University.
Roberto Ramirez, director of Mexico's National Water Commission, said Hurricane Patricia is powerful enough to lift up automobiles and destroy homes not sturdily built with cement and steel. The storm will also be able to drag people caught outside when it strikes. Those on the coast will be in the most danger, especially people living in the state of Jalisco, which has a population of more than 7.3 million, he said.
In a Category 5 hurricane, a high percentage of framed homes will be destroyed, with total roof failure and wall collapse, according to the hurricane center. Fallen trees and power poles will isolate residential areas. Power outages will last for weeks to possibly months, and most of the area will be uninhabitable for weeks or months.
At 2 p.m. ET, Hurricane Patricia was 85 miles southwest of Manzanillo, Mexico, moving to the north at 12 mph, the hurricane center said. The storm is expected to remain an extremely dangerous Category 5 hurricane through landfall, the agency said.
A total of 50,000 people were expected to be evacuated ahead of the storm, according to civil protection agencies in the three Mexican states of Colima, Jalisco, and Nayarit,Vallarta Daily reported. Those regions house the port city of Manzanillo and the town of Puerto Vallarta, a resort town with a large expatriate community from the U.S. and Canada.

According to the 2010 census, there are more than 650,000 inhabitants in Colima state, more than 161,000 in Manzanillo and more than 255,000 in the Puerto Vallarta municipality.
President Enrique Peña Nieto canceled public events on Friday to put attention on hurricane preparedness. “It will be the strongest hurricane in that has impacted the Pacific in the last 50 years,” he said.
Mexican officials declared a state of emergency in dozens of coastal towns, including Manzanillo and Puerto Vallarta, and ordered schools closed Friday, the Associated Press reported. The city of Puerto Vallarta established 18 shelter locations to house evacuees, and some businesses began boarding and taping up windows late Thursday.
Puerto Vallarta and the neighboring Riviera Nayarit attract thousands of tourists throughout the year, but airlines suspended service with the storm approaching. The Jalisco state government scrambled a fleet of 30 buses to take tourists from the coast to Guadalajara, a five-hour ride inland.
“We are in a very complicated situation, there is an extremely dangerous hurricane about to make impact and we don’t need to put more lives at risk,” said José María Tapia of Mexico’s civil defense system. “(The airports) will be open only to evacuate as many Mexican and foreign tourists that are in that area.”
Tapia said his office is coordinating with the national military, including air, sea and land units, to clear traffic from all routes leading to the waterfront region to help evacuation efforts and allow emergency to enter it. He said foreigners trying to locate their loved ones should work through their consulates in Mexico.
Patricia is expected to make landfall near an area of beach towns known as the Costa Alegre between Manzanillo and Puerto Vallarta, where locals says there's been an eerie calm.

"It's a beautiful morning in my neighborhood," said Jane Gorby, a California native who has lived for 15 years in the town of La Manzanilla. She said the severity of the pending storm snuck up on residents in a region used to hurricanes, and left them scrambling for a potentially unprecedented event.
"People were complacent, blasé, cavalier, but there's never been a storm like this before," Gorby says. "It's been a (Category) 1, 2, 3, 4. Now I wake up and it's a 5."
Gorby, like most residents, planned to ride out the storm in La Manzanilla, last hit hard by Hurricane Jova in 2011. "I have tequila. I have cat food. I have things to calm my nerves," she said. "I don't know how you prepare for something like this."
As the day progressed, however, stories of panic-buying emerged in coastal regions with store shelves left bare.
At a Wal-Mart in Manzanillo, shoppers filled carts with non-perishables as a steady rain fell outside. Veronica Cabrera, shopping with her young son, said the town tends to flood easily with many small streams overflowing their banks, AP reported. She said she had taped her windows at home to prevent them from shattering.
Alejandra Rodriguez, shopping with her brother and mother, was buying 10 liters of milk, a large jug of water and items like tuna and canned ham that do not require refrigeration or cooking. The family already blocked the bottoms of the doors at their home to keep water from entering. Manzanillo's "main street really floods and cuts access to a lot of other streets. It ends up like an island," Rodriguez said.
The U.N.'s World Meteorological Organization said in a tweet that Patricia was comparable in intensity to Typhoon Haiyan. That storm left more than 7,300 people dead or missing in the Philippines two years ago.
In 2011, Jova made landfall as a 100 mph Category 2 hurricane in Jalisco, Mexico, killing nine people. Last year, powerful Hurricane Odile slammed into the Baja California peninsula of Mexico, killing 11 people. Odile was the most intense landfalling hurricane in the Baja since 1970.
While Hurricane Patricia should weaken rapidly over the mountainous terrain of Mexico, its remnants will continue to produce heavy rain in central parts of the country and into Texas over the weekend.

Genesis Bible Codes: “End of Ishmael” May Happen This Year - BIN

Genesis Bible Codes: “End of Ishmael” May Happen This Year

“And the angel of the Lord said to her, ‘Behold, you will conceive and bear a son, and you shall name him Ishmael, for the Lord has heard your affliction. And he will be a wild donkey of a man; his hand will be upon all, and everyone’s hand upon him, and before all his brothers he will dwell.’” (Genesis 16:11-12)
A new Bible Codes revelation suggests that this could be the year in which the world witnesses the end of Islamic terror.
Ishmael, the first-born son of Abraham, is an important prophet in Islam. Muslims consider Ishmael an ancestor of Muhammad specifically, as well as the ancestor of several important Arab tribes. Although there are Arab Christians and non-Arab Muslims, in general, Judaism considers Ishmael to be the father of Islam.
Despite the fact that it can be tricky to define which nations today are descended from Ishmael, especially in the case of Iran, Rabbi Mattityahu Glazerson, a renowned Bible Codes expert, told Breaking Israel News that, when it comes to Bible Codes, any mention of “Ishmael is basically Islam, so Iran also is included.” He also mentions that “many [Jewish rabbinic] commentators say that in Ishmael today, there many, many nations, as mentioned in Psalm 83.”
The tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites, Moab and the Hagrites. Gebal, Ammon, and Amalek, Philistia with the inhabitants of Tyre. Also Assyria joined them; they were the arm of the children of Lot forever. (Psalms 83:7-9)
Analyzing a Bible Codes table from the Book of Genesis, Glazerson points out that the Hebrew words “tome Yishmael,” which means the end of Ishmael, appear next to the Hebrew letters that refer to the current year in the Hebrew calendar.
Surrounding “tome Yishmael” are Bible Codes for related keywords, including terror, Moshiach (Messiah), “etz tzarah” (time of trouble), enemy, Amalek (the Biblical enemy of the Jewish people) and teshuva (repentance).
According to Glazerson, this Bible Codes table associates the end of Islamic terror and widespread repentance of the Jewish nation with this year. Quoting a commentary from the Jewish scholar known as the Ba’al ha-Turim, Rabbi Jacob ben Asher, who was born in Germany 700 years ago, Glazerson says, “When Ishmael will fall in the end of days, Mashiach ben David (Messiah son of David) will flourish.”
Are there hidden messages from God in the Bible?
In a related Bible Codes video, Glazerson quotes the Pirke de Rebbe Eliezer, a rabbinic commentary written approximately 1,500 years ago. At least 100 years before the founding of Islam, Pirke de Rebbe Eliezer related a prophecy about 15 ways the Children of Islam are going to vex Israel at the End of Days.
According to Glazerson, everything that’s written there is really happening. On the list of 15 afflictions that the Children of Ishmael will impose upon the Jewish people is the prediction that they will build a building on the Temple Mount, which they did with the establishment of the Al Aqsa mosque in the 8th century. Another of the 15 ways the Children of Ishmael will cause trouble to the Jewish people is that “falsehood will multiply and truth will be hidden”.

The Bible Codes expert points out something that he says does not appear anywhere else in Bible Codes. Like a crossword puzzle, we find the words that mean “Ishmael lies” in a vertical column that meets with the words “to Israel” which appear horizontally, along with the Hebrew letters that refer to this year in the Hebrew calendar.
The implication is that this will be the year that the lies coming from the Children of Ishmael will increase. This is especially interesting considering that the PA is now claiming that the Western Wall, arguably Israel’s holiest site, belongs to them.

Today’s Messianic War Over Jerusalem Predicted Thousands of Years Ago - BIN

Today’s Messianic War Over Jerusalem Predicted Thousands of Years Ago

“Then he said to me, ‘This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel saying, “Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,” says the Lord.’ ” (Zechariah 4:6)
One of the most troubling aspects of the recent violence and terror in Israel is the battle between truth and lies. Lies against Israel are easily accepted in every form and majority of forums, including major news outlets and governments. However, one of the most disturbing claims are those denying the existence of the Jewish Temples and the Jewish nation’s connection to the holy site.
As worrying as this claim is, the current developments against Israel were anticipated thousands of years ago in the Jewish mystical text called the Zohar as part of the End of Days process:
“…The descendents of Ishmael will go up at that time (End of Days) with the nations of the world against Jerusalem…” (Zohar 1:119a)
The Jewish Temples were, until now, a universal truth chronicled in the Jewish Bible, the Koran and the New Testament. Nonetheless, the Jewish claim of a historical connection to their holiest site is being denied in mainstream press and in the international political arena.
The New York Times recently published an article that claimed there is no corroborative archaeological evidence to substantiate Jewish claims of Temples on the Temple Mount. To deny this would seem incredible. However, in an almost close call, a recently shot down proposal at the UN sought to cancel out all Jewish claims to the Temple Mount by Arab nations, including the Palestinians.
Do you agree the Jewish people have a Biblical right to Jerusalem?
While the Temple Mount was not wrested away from Israel, a UN commission declared the Cave of the Patriarchs in Hebron and the Tomb of Rachel in Bethlehem as Muslim holy sites. Such a move is nothing less than an unprecedented attempt to rewrite history. Similarly, France has made a proposal to the UN for an international force on the Temple Mount, also cancelling out Jewish claims.
In a separate Jewish commentary describing the End of Days, the Sefer Eliyahu, first published in Salonika in 1743, describes how the Arab nations will attempt to convert the Jewish nation to Islam and rewrite Temple Mount history:
“Israel will say to the king of the Arabs, ‘Take silver and gold and leave the Temple.’ The king of the Arabs will say, ‘You have nothing to do with this Temple. However, if you want, choose a sacrifice as you did in the past, and we will also offer a sacrifice, and with the one whose sacrifice is accepted, we will all become one people.’ The Jewish people will offer theirs, but it will not be accepted because the Satan will lay charges against them before The Holy One, Blessed is He. The descendants of Kedar will offer theirs, and it will be accepted…At that time, the Arabs will say to Israel, ‘Come and believe in our faith,’ but Israel will answer, ‘We will kill or be killed, but we will not deny our belief!’ At that time, swords will be drawn, bows will be strung and arrows will be sent, and many will fall.” (Pirkei Mashiach, p. 236)
The Sefer Eliyahu describes a war of faith and religion, of the type being fought today. Sacrifices, or the modern equivalent, prayer, is at the center of the conflict, as the ancient book predicts. Today Jews or Christians praying on the Temple Mount is considered an act of aggression in the international press and a declaration of war.

A view of the Western Wall. (Photo: Wikimedia Commons)

Though the recent conflict is violent, Rabbi Yekutiel Yehudah Halberstam, also known as the Klausenberger Rebbe, predicted this conflict with the Arabs after the Six-Day War, almost 40 years ago, and instructed his students on how to be victorious.
“Don’t think that the Arabs will always run away; Ishmael will return, resiliently strong. Our ultimate war with him will be a difficult one; we shall not prevail by way of military means…The Nazis killed my wife and my eleven children. I suffered from them in ways that defy description. Yet, the Ishmaelites outdo the Nazis when it comes to cruelty. I shudder to think what will be.”
According to Rabbi Mattityahu Glazerson, a world-renowned Bible Codes expert, the conflict between the “sons of Ishmael” and the Jewish nation is clearly spelled out in the Bible. Citing the rabbinic commentary known as the Pirke de Rebbe Eliezer, written 100 years before the beginning of Islam, Ishmael will challenge the Jews in the final days of the messianic process through “falsehood [which] will multiply and truth will be hidden,” precisely in the manner Israel is being challenged today.
