Psalm 91 - Our Hope and Comfort. Always.

Psalm 91New King James Version (NKJV)

Safety of Abiding in the Presence of God

91 He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High
Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the Lord“He is my refuge and my fortress;
My God, in Him I will trust.”
Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler[a]
And from the perilous pestilence.
He shall cover you with His feathers,
And under His wings you shall take refuge;
His truth shall be your shield and buckler.
You shall not be afraid of the terror by night,
Nor of the arrow that flies by day,
Nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness,
Nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday.
A thousand may fall at your side,
And ten thousand at your right hand;
But it shall not come near you.
Only with your eyes shall you look,
And see the reward of the wicked.
Because you have made the Lordwho is my refuge,
Even the Most High, your dwelling place,
10 No evil shall befall you,
Nor shall any plague come near your dwelling;
11 For He shall give His angels charge over you,
To keep you in all your ways.
12 In their hands they shall bear you up,
Lest you dash your foot against a stone.
13 You shall tread upon the lion and the cobra,
The young lion and the serpent you shall trample underfoot.
14 “Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him;
I will set him on high, because he has known My name.
15 He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him;
will be with him in trouble;
I will deliver him and honor him.
16 With long life I will satisfy him,
And show him My salvation.”

"9 Out of 10" - Now Think On This by Steve Martin

"9 Out of 10"
Now Think On This
Steve Martin

Usually when you hear of someone getting “9 out of 10”, you think it was a good thing. One hits 9 out of 10 baskets in a basketball game, or has par for the first 9 out of 10 golf holes – they have done very well.

If you were in a high school math class and you answered 9 out of 10 questions correctly on a test (pop quiz!) you’d get an A, or at least a B+. (Do they still grade that way in school? Or does everyone get a passing grade just to move them on?) Or maybe you passed your last driver’s license test at the DOT, Department of Transportation, because the one testing you gave you a hint or two, not wanting you to fail. Trust me, that happened last time I was there when I turned 60. That younger man certainly was a nice guy.

Recently I had the opportunity to bless a group of people with something I considered important. At least it was for me. Because I had put in a lot of effort to complete the project, and was excited to share it with others, I thought the response would be good. Believing that the Holy Spirit had given me the inspiration to do it in the first place, I naturally expected an acknowledgement from the recipients.

But it didn’t happen. At least not in the way or timing that I thought it would or should. Never heard from them until I asked one or two about it sometime later. Just to make sure it got to them.

Some told me that they had forgot to let me know it came. Another had a major extra job they were working on, and didn’t think more about it. Others just didn’t give it an extra thought.

Now I had a bit of the taste of what Jesus must have felt like when He experienced the following.

“Now it happened as He went to Jerusalem that He passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee. Then as He entered a certain village, there met Him ten men who were lepers, who stood afar off. And they lifted up their voices and said, "Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!"

So when He saw them, He said to them, "Go, show yourselves to the priests." And so it was that as they went, they were cleansed.

And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, returned, and with a loud voice glorified God, and fell down on his face at His feet, giving Him thanks. And he was a Samaritan.

So Jesus answered and said, "Were there not ten cleansed? But where are the nine?  Were there not any found who returned to give glory to God except this foreigner?"  And He said to him, "Arise, go your way. Your faith has made you well." (Luke 17:11-19 NKJV)

After reading that, you probably also reacted like I did, thinking the other nine were thoughtless and totally unthankful. Why would Jesus have even bothered with them in the first place?

Even though they had just been healed from a debilitating disease, one that also attributed to the rejection they certainly received from others, they didn’t even bother to come back and thank Yeshua. They had been facing an early death, but now, after a miraculous deliverance from their sickening condition, they showed no appreciation whatsoever.

Only the one out of the 10 came back to give thanks to the Son of God. Only the one. And this guy wasn’t even in the societal class of “accepted ones” in the local area, but considered a “foreigner”, a lowly Samaritan. These were people generally ostracized and looked down by the religious Jews.

My heart has had another learning experience. Giving thanks is so vital to our spiritual health – both in giving and also receiving.

When someone does something good for you, give thanks. Do it anyway that is appropriate for the gift received. Either verbally, with a short text, a card for one who likes those, or whatever – just show your appreciation.

We are to have a thankful heart. Growing in appreciation for the goodness of the Lord and others in our lives does a great thing for our soul and spirit. The Lord blesses those who do.

Paul instructed the Colossians in his letter to the early church members, which is for our instruction too.

“And be thankful - let the Word of the Messiah, in all its richness, live in you, as you teach and counsel each other in all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude to God in your hearts. That is, everything you do or say, do in the name of the Lord Yeshua, giving thanks through him to God the Father.” (Colossians 3:15-17, Complete Jewish Bible)

As we grow in thanksgiving, we will see a lifting in our inner man, within our spirit. We will be letting go of an uncaring, ungrateful attitude, and receive more of the Lord’s heart of joy and peace.

Something to think about.

Love you,

The Time Has Come for God to Reveal the Messiah, Says Jerusalem’s Chief Rabbi - BIN

The Time Has Come for God to Reveal the Messiah, Says Jerusalem’s Chief Rabbi

“The smallest shall become a thousand and the least a mighty nation; I am the Lord, in its time I will hasten it.” (Isaiah 60:22)
In a surprisingly under-reported story, one of Jerusalem’s chief rabbis, Rabbi Shlomo Amar issued a ruling on Monday that God must bring the messiah and expedite the ultimate redemption. The ruling was delivered during an all-night spiritual gathering of rabbis from the Chabad-Lubavitch movement  and a recording of the moment was posted to YouTube (in Hebrew).
In the days preceding the ruling by Amar, close to 6,000 rabbis and Jewish community leaders attended the annual Kinus Hashluchim (International Conference of Chabad-Lubavitch Emissaries) in Brooklyn, NY. The Chabad-Lubavitch movement has emissaries who serve the Jewish people in over 75 countries around the world. Each year, they gather in New York for their annual conference.
After the official conference proceedings were concluded, Amar and others gathered at the Chabad-Lubavitch World Headquarters, also in Brooklyn, NY, for an informal farbrengen. A farbrengen is a get-together in the Chabad-Lubavitch world, where inspirational thoughts are shared and wordless spiritual tunes, called niggunim, are sung. Sweet foods, wine and other items are often served.
During this spontaneous gathering, and no doubt influenced by the heady success of the conference that had just concluded, Rabbi Berel Lazar, one of Russia’s two chief rabbis, reminded Amar that 25 years ago, the Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson, the last head of the Chabad-Lubavitch movement, who passed away in 1994, had asked Amar to issue a psak din (a formal rabbinic ruling) on the issue of the redemption of the Jewish people.
The end is near. Are you ready?
Twenty five years later, at this gathering in the early morning hours of November 9, 2015, Amar agreed that the time had come to rule that God must hasten the arrival of the messiah.
In the presence of dozens of colleagues and holding the hands of the two men sitting closest to him, Amar pronounced, “We hereby rule according to the demand of the audience – we see the plaintiff but can’t see the defendant – that God Almighty speedily bring an end and reveal the Moshiach (messiah) in front of our eyes in actuality.”
Despite the late hour, his statement was greeted with a hearty “Amen!” from the crowd. Immediately after, the crowd began singing “We want Moshiach now! We don’t want to wait!” These words come from a song that Lubavitch children are taught to sing from a very early age.
How is it possible that a rabbi, even one of the chief rabbis of Jerusalem, can make a ruling in Jewish law that obligates God? Breaking Israel News posed this question to senior Chabad Rabbi Uri Kaploun who said, “All that comes to mind is the axiom in Chazal (the Jewish sages) that Lo BaShamayim Hi (it is not in Heaven): once the Torah was given, the earthly court makes the rulings, and the Heavenly Court is, as it were, bound by them.”

You Think Jesus Is Worried About Starbucks Coffee Cups? - JARRID WILSON CHARISMA MAGAZINE

What's all the commotion about these red Starbucks coffee cups?
What's all the commotion about these red Starbucks coffee cups? (Facebook)

Yes, this is another post about Starbucks and their decision to remove any mention of Christ or Christmas from their new holiday-themed coffee cups. There seems to be a lot of hype around these cups, their lack of Christ and the so-called "outrage" taking place among Christian circles.
I recently did a poll on Twitter to see how many people truly cared about these cups, and the results were as I expected. Not many people actually care ...
It would be silly for us to expect non-Christian companies to do Christlike things during holidays that celebrate Christ. So instead of worrying about whether or not a coffee company not run by Christians is going to put "Merry Christmas" on their cups, we should rather focus on loving our neighbors, extending grace and being tangible examples of what it means to follow Jesus. God isn't worried about red cups; He's worried about Christians reflecting an image of Christ all year long.
It would be unbiblical for someone to force another to follow Jesus, so why would it be OK to force a non-believing company to follow Him?
Starbucks may not be a Christian-founded company, but over the years they have graciously allowed me to host hundreds of Bible studies at numerous locations around the country. I've never once been asked to leave because I was a Christian or even looked at wrong because I had a Bible with me. Starbucks isn't out to get Christians, but for some reason people have crafted the lie that Christians are out to get Starbucks. It's just not true.
There are people all around the world who are being persecuted for their faith to the point of death, and I believe 100 percent of these people would laugh at the Americans' red cup riot against Starbucks. It's really not that big of a deal. We as Christians should be known more for what we are for than what we are against.
And if we really want something to rally about, how about we start with the fact that there is one death by suicide in the U.S. every 13 minutes, that over 400,000 children are living in the foster care system in America and that 3.5 million people experience homelessness each year.
There are a lot more important things that need our attention. Let's leave cups to Dixie.

Carolyn Hyde - The back routes - Heart of G-d Ministries

Carolyn Hyde
The back routes
Heart of G-d Ministries
Nov. 13, 2015

As I was driving along the bridge road in Louisiana, the L-rd put it on my heart to prophesy over the waters, that a great Exodus will come through this region, an exodus of Jews and Christians will help them to get to the ocean to take ships to go home to Israel. There will be canoes, lifeboats, rafts, speedboats, and all kinds of small crafts that will carry the people down the rivers, the tributaries, the bayous.

"But how will people know the way to take?" I asked.

"They will need native born people from Louisiana to show them the back routes."

And then it hit me what happened earlier today! I was doing Aliyah counseling with a dear friend and I didn't notice my gas gauge so I ended up running out of gas along the highway in Louisiana. I was pretty much out in the middle of nowhere! There were three or four trailers off the side of the road but there was a tall fence with a bayou separating me from them.

But suddenly a man walked out of his house to pick up his mail and he saw me as I was waving to him. So when he walked over to the fence and heard how I had run out of gas, he offered to bring his truck around and help me. Bless his heart! His name was Michael and he is a native born person from Louisiana.   After we got the gas in the portable tank, Michael said to me, "I'm going to take the back route to get you back on the highway."

The back route! That's what the L-rd is speaking to me about! And He will make a way!

Traffic jam in Baton Rouge! So I started complaining a little and I heard the L-rd say, "you have it so easy, girl". And I repented and realized that when the great Exodus begins from America, it's going to be nothing like the situation I'm in now. I'm a little stuck in traffic, and I'm a little tired because I only got five hours of sleep last night, but I have nuts and berries and water and I'm driving an air-conditioned car.

I have Internet and GPS and all that I need to get to where I'm going. When the great Exodus begins the Jewish people and the Christians who will be helping them will have very few of these things. So yes, L-rd, you're right! I have it easy. Please forgive me for just trying to be comfortable and get to where I'm going so that I can rest and have a nice meal and shower.

More about the back routes - David took the back route when Saul was looking to kill him and he escaped with his life. After Ehud drove a knife in the evil king's belly, he was able to escape out the back door.

Moshe escaped death by the back route in a basket on the Nile and later he escaped to Midian. Stories abound of back routes in the Bible, featuring the Exodus as a whole book!

There was always some kind of preparation for back routes - making the cradle from tar so Moshe wouldn't sink, gathering dough in baskets, plundering the Egyptians, etc.

I walked in the mall and who's the first person I talk with? An Israeli named Dolev! Oy! Dolev put cream on one of my eyes and told me to come back and he would do the other eye.

Then I ran to the Apple store and they told me it would be at least an hour but maybe even not because I didn't have an appointment. But a young man named PJ helped me. He took the time and did all the necessary paperwork and even gave me a new iPhone! He's a Christian and he's getting married next year so I told him to come to Israel and that's exactly what he's been wanting to do but he needed some advice. I love how the L-rd works! So I made a new friend.

While in the store I got a letter from my prophetic friend Rhonda who is from Louisiana, telling me that she can join us on Thursday at an Aliyah meeting...

On the way out of the mall, I realized I passed by Dolev's place so I went back to talk with him to tell him that I really don't have time for a treatment. Standing with him was another Israeli name Moshe. We had a nice talk and they told me that there's a new Chabad house in the mall. I said I don't think they would like me very much because I'm a messianic Jew. So they asked me how did that happen and I was able to share my testimony with both Israelis!

When I finally arrived at Sonja's, what was the main thing she talked about from the beginning? Back routes!

May G-d bless you and cause His face to shine upon you always,

Carolyn

Joining in the spirit of Jewish and Christian love in Jerusalem
Christian Friends of IsraelIn the apocalyptic vision of the prophet Zechariah, he writes that the nations shall go up, year after year to Jerusalem "to worship the King, the Lord of Hosts, to celebrate the Festival of Sukkot (Feast of Tabernacles)."

Indeed, the nations of the world were out in force this fall in Jerusalem during the festival of Sukkot. There were Jews and Christians, locals and visitors from the four corners of the earth.

Many of them - thousands - were from some 80 nations who came for the Feast's celebration. The New Friends of Zion Museum (FOZ) led the way during Sukkot in welcoming close to 3000 visitors - a number of them Christians attending the Feast event - to the museum's one-hour tour, which tells in dramatic fashion the story of how Christian Zionists played crucial roles in the restoration of the glory of Israel.

One of the conference highlights was the annual Jerusalem March, a colorful, flag-waving, singing crowd of Christians and Jews paraded through the city on Oct 1st.  Over 10,000 participants of the march passed the brand new FOZ Museum in the heart of Jerusalem. Among the paraders were many of those who were already counted among the Friends of Zion or who were to return later to visit the museum.

Israeli locals were overjoyed and excited to see supporters from all around the world holding flags of Israel alongside their own flag, wearing their country's colors, singing with locals in Hebrew "Haveno shalom alichem" (We bring peace to you), dancing, playing music while marching, many even blowing the traditional Shofar (Ram's horn).

The Festival of Sukkot is now over, but the spirit of Jewish and Christian love for the Land and People of Israel exemplified by the Friends of Zion Museum continues the year around, bringing people of all nations together within its inspirational galleries, featuring the very latest in high-technology techniques to convey the stories of devoted Christians who in the past 200 years have played key roles in making possible the modern miracle that we call the State of Israel.

We invite you to take part in this wonderful and interactive experience. We invite you to come and meet the Friends of Zion!
