The Grief, Pain, and Sorrow of Holidays - Now Think On This by Steve Martin

The Grief, Pain, and Sorrow of Holidays
Now Think On This

“Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known My name. He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him. With long life I will satisfy him, and show him My salvation." (Psalm 91:14-16, NKJV)

The winter Saturday had been rather long, though the daylight hours were shorter now. Our Dachshund dog woke me up at 3:00 am, needing to go out. After a time of Bible reading and prayer, I had to wait until 6:30 am to go to WalMart when they opened. I had forgotten my 20“x24” poster frame at the self-serve checkout counter the day before. (I know. How can you forget an item that big when you leave? Don’t know. I just did.)

Long-time-no-see nephew and niece-in-law came by the house a few hours later, after picking up their oldest daughter (of five girls, and one son) from the college campus dorm in a town nearby. With them having a full house, my childhood days helped realize a few of their days. We had a truly delightful time with them. All eight. Their husband/dad had just gotten home from his fourth or fifth tour of duty the week before - Afghanistan (2x), Iraq (1) and Bosnia (1) over the years. So I guess that is four, unless I missed one. That I may have forgotten too.

Needing more photos frames for an idea I had made another trip to Walmart necessary (no advertising dollars for this plug given this way). By late afternoon I had completed my gift wrapping of 19 presents, fed the dog, ate the leftover chicken wings from a family Christmas party the night before, and told my good wife I needed to shut my eyes for a few minutes after she got home from her shopping.

Sitting in my regular prayer chair, I closed my eyes, anticipating a power nap. It didn’t happen.

This grief, pain and deep sorrow then came over me. I quickly realized it wasn’t any of my emotions coming to the surface, buried far below from days gone by. I had no reason to feel that, given the joy, peace, and love from God the Father in my life recently. Someone else was experiencing this.

This Holy Spirit word of knowledge, which often comes as a thought, word or emotion “out of nowhere”, was given to me to start interceding for another (or more). I knew not who, or where they were. They, at that moment, or within a few days prior or even forthcoming, were suffering from loss, and maybe exceptional rejection. Holy Spirit knew their need and knew I was available.

The holiday season wasn’t the joy, peace, and love that they wanted so bad to have too. And needed so much to experience. They were hurting.

Maybe a very close loved one had passed during this season in years gone by, or a spiteful rejection by a longtime friend left them clinging to any glimpse of hope they could grip onto, Possibly loneliness from not having family or friends nearby, as others did, was enveloping their spiritual being.

Whatever the reason, one of these events or another trauma was causing this very real moment in time hopelessness, helplessness, and gut-wrenching emotional pain. I could really sense it in my spirit, coming from Holy Spirit.

Praying in tongues was my immediate reaction. God the Father was reaching out to embrace this one, who was needing to now know of His longtime committed love for them. Whether they knew Him or not, He fully knew them and was there to bring comfort and healing balm to their soul.

Maybe this is you? Maybe it is a bad memory, an unresolved, rejected relationship lost; or a Christmas went wrong that you never, ever want to remember or experience again. Please know that our God knows, and is wanting to reach out to you, bringing His love, peace, and joy into your heart right now, right at this moment.

Here are the full Bible verses of Psalm 91 for you to read.

“He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, "He is my refuge and my fortress; my God, in Him I will trust."
Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the perilous pestilence. He shall cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler.

You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, nor of the arrow that flies by day, nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday. A thousand may fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand; but it shall not come near you. Only with your eyes shall you look, and see the reward of the wicked.

Because you have made the Lord, who is my refuge, even the Most High, your dwelling place,
no evil shall befall you, nor shall any plague come near your dwelling; for He shall give His angels charge over you, to keep you in all your ways. In their hands they shall bear you up,
lest you dash your foot against a stone.

You shall tread upon the lion and the cobra, the young lion and the serpent you shall trample underfoot.

Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known My name. He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him. With long life I will satisfy him, and show him My salvation." (Psalm 91, NKJV)

I have known deep loss. I have suffered rejection by ones who once called me their good friend. I am sure you have too.

You can be healed from this. You can forgive, and also receive forgiveness for anything on your end. It is not the end of the world. It can be the new beginning, whether you or 22 or 72.

May my prayer, and others so led and directed by Holy Spirit Himself, bring you the restoration and emotional surgery that you so long to acquire. May this be a true season of joy, peace, and love, as it was meant to be.

In Jesus, it certainly can.

Shalom and ahava (peace and love in Hebrew).

Shabbat Shalom - May the streets of Jerusalem know His peace. Psalm 91

Dear friends in Israel,

We stand with you in praying for the peace of Jerusalem, Samaria, and Judea. May the true peace of Yeshua HaMashiach be revealed in your midst today. May He cover you with His wings and keep you in His arms of love.

Psalm 91 The Complete Jewish Bible

You who live in the shelter of 'Elyon, who spend your nights in the shadow of Shaddai, who say to ADONAI, "My refuge! My fortress! My God, in whom I trust!"

He will rescue you from the trap of the hunter and from the plague of calamities;
he will cover you with his pinions, and under his wings you will find refuge; his truth is a shield and protection.

You will not fear the terrors of night or the arrow that flies by day, or the plague that roams in the dark, or the scourge that wreaks havoc at noon. A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand; but it won't come near you.

Only keep your eyes open, and you will see how the wicked are punished. For you have made ADONAI, the Most High, who is my refuge, your dwelling-place.

No disaster will happen to you, no calamity will come near your tent; for he will order his angels to care for you and guard you wherever you go. They will carry you in their hands, so that you won't trip on a stone.

You will tread down lions and snakes, young lions and serpents you will trample underfoot.

"Because he loves me, I will rescue him; because he knows my name, I will protect him. He will call on me, and I will answer him. I will be with him when he is in trouble. I will extricate him and bring him honor. I will satisfy him with long life and show him my salvation."

Better Know Your Cave - Now Think On This by Steve Martin

Better Know Your Cave

Now Think On This
Steve Martin

“You're my cave to hide in, my cliff to climb. Be my safe leader, be my true mountain guide. Free me from hidden traps; I want to hide in you. I've put my life in your hands. You won't drop me, you'll never let me down.” (Psalm 31:3-5, THE MESSAGE)

By the title of this message, you may have thought this was one to provoke you to get your hiding place ready for when the tribulation comes. Not a bad thought. I have some extra long-term food stored away on hand, for when the troubling times that will come, do come, just as the Word says.

Noah was prepared. Joseph was prepared. Often the Lord told His people in advance to prepare. It isn’t an “unbelief” action as some would make you think. It is wisdom, and knowing that what the Lord says will come to pass, will indeed come to pass. So I have prepared too.

No, this specific message is more about the spiritual aspect of knowing where you go when you need a place to hide, a place to be under the shadow of His wing, the covering that can only be found in the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.

David, the Jewish shepherd boy who was anointed king years before it actually came about, had to learn the secret to “living in the cave.” When his soul was troubled, when he was being pursued by his frequent enemies, primarily King Saul (who, like some modern day “religious” leaders try to destroy the newcomers who have been chosen to take their place) he knew where to abide. He had learned Who to abide in. David knew his cave. And he went there often.

Both you and I need to know where our spiritual cave is. We need to have established a place where we often meet with the Lord. Not just in the bad times, but in the good as well. It must be a consistent, daily if possible, location. Both physically and spiritually.

When the troubling times come, not if but when, be they today, tomorrow or beyond, we have to be in such a place spiritually so that when the enemy strikes at us (and we know he doesn’t fight fair), we are confident that our covering and protection are solid in the Lord Jesus.

Not in drugs. Not from alcohol. Nor in the TV set or on the Internet, or some other “escape” route. Our refuge must be in the Lord Himself.
The Lord God Almighty promises us this in His Word.

Because you have made the Lord, who is my refuge, even the Most High, your dwelling place, no evil shall befall you, nor shall any plague come near your dwelling; for He shall give His angels charge over you, to keep you in all your ways. In their hands they shall bear you up, lest you dash your foot against a stone. You shall tread upon the lion and the cobra, the young lion and the serpent you shall trample underfoot.
"Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known My name. He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him. With long life I will satisfy him, and show him My salvation." (Psalm 91:1-16, NKJV)

During the day, when the stress and pressure on the job, in the family, on the highway, or wherever you may experience it, gets to be too much, we must have learned to call upon the Name of the Lord and abide in Him. We must firmly believe that He is with us, knowing it in our “knower”, as an old wise man used to say. Confidence will be assured, primarily because we had spent time with Him in our “cave time”.
We can learn to be at peace, in His peace, even in the presence of our enemies.
As David wrote, for himself then and as a sure word for us today, “You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies…” (Psalm 23:5, NKJV)
Learning to abide in the shadow of the Lord, in His place of refuge, in that “cave” we can go to, will make us ready for the times when we must know how, when and where to know His presence is with us. We can have that assurance by practicing His presence with us today.

The Prophetic Significance of Psalm 91 in This Hour - RYAN LESTRANGE CHARISMA NEWS

Psalm 91
It's critical right now for we, as believers, to adhere to the message of Psalm 91. (Flickr )

The Prophetic Significance of Psalm 91 in This Hour

Like you, I have read Psalms 91 countless times and have always been comforted by its familiar theme but this morning during my prayer time, the prophetic significance of this passage affected me in a deep way: He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, "He is my refuge and my fortress, my God in whom I trust." (Ps. 91:1-2 MEV).
The promise of protection is so clear and yet we as believers spend so much of our time filling our minds and hearts with fear. Our fascination with calamity and destruction aborts the power of faith and quenches the flow of exploits in our lives. At any given time, there are two voices that are resounding in our minds: the voice of faith which releases and empowers the kingdom; and the voice of fear which confines, constricts and derails.
There are plans of great outpouring, tremendous revival moves and radical awakening for this generation, yet these intentions are being overridden by a fear mentality that wants to run and take cover!
Our proximity to our Father is critical in securing our safety, and our future and present promises. In this powerful chapter, we are told to abide (remain) close to Him under the cover of His feathers. It is really difficult to heed the voice of the enemy when you are snuggled up next to the Father!
As I dove into this passage, the relevance to this emerging move of God struck me in a new way. This current move of God is presence-centered, presence-based and presence-fueled! One of the chief components of the emerging paradigm of revival hubs and apostolic centers is prayer. These radical bases are places of prevailing prayer and governmental intercession. No movement has fueled this fire more than the prayer movement.
The dedicated warriors from the various branches of the prayer movement have given their lives to the task of establishing the throne room in communities around the globe. What is the throne room? It is a place of habitation! This is the call of the hour—to create ministries that demonstrate and value God's abiding presence. The presence of God is truly the marker in this move.
The Lord spoke to me recently and said: "The main room will become the prayer room." I saw intercession and worship based prayer taking over the corporate gatherings of the body of Christ. There is a divine marriage between worship and intercession. We have entered into an era where worship is at the forefront and the presence is the prize. In this generation we have coined terms like "revival culture" and "mantles of awakening."
These terms identity concepts of ministry that reject the methodology of church culture simply focused on filling seats and building buildings. These terms and paradigms emphasize finding ways to receive and maintain rich wells of glory. A generation is tapping the wells of power in order to press for awakening and unprecedented global transformation. There is a remnant that is not satisfied with religious duty but desperately longs for the heart of God and His full manifest presence.
As we move deeper into the place of surrender and intimacy, we become overwhelmed and surrounded by God's presence. When we minister to others there is heavenly residue. The residue of His glory spills over into sickness and releases healing! The residue of His peace overcomes torment. We are no longer trying to manifest signs and wonders, they are just breaking out as a result of the tangible residue of heaven. We are called to be heaven dwellers and Earth conquerors. Our DNA is that of the kingdom. The glory is our birthright! Wonders are the norm. Revival outbreaks are typical.
Divine protection and angelic assistance are the norm for the sons and daughters of the living God! The heaven dwellers should absolutely expect divine protection, warnings and spirit leading. We should live with the full expectation of Daddy's goodness being manifested in our lives. It is absolutely true that we are living in a time of crazy and intense demonic battle.
Demon-possessed people are committing horrendous acts and this is the result of our culture's full embrace of hell's agenda. Yet in the midst of these times of adversity there is an abundant level of security and promise for the people of God! Our close and intimate relationship with the Father empowers divine security. I believe that we are seeing and will see an increasing awareness of angelic activity. This is an era of the supernatural! Psalm 91:11 (MEV): For He shall give His angels charge over you to guard you in all your ways.
Let us embrace our identity as sons and daughters with absolute assurance! Let us reject the lies and the fear-based religious bondage that the enemy wants to enslave us with. We are called to live lives of full surrender, glorious manifestation and kingdom exploits.
There is a radical and fresh move of God unfolding that values the presence of God, and is proximity-based and prayer-driven. A generation is being invited not just to encounter but to dwell in the Father's house.

There Really Is Power in the Name of Jesus - KATHY DEGRAW CHARISMA NEWS

Would you call upon the name of Jesus if placed in a life-or-death situation?

Would you call upon the name of Jesus if placed in a life-or-death situation? (iStock photo )

There Really Is Power in the Name of Jesus

I always believed if I ever came upon in a situation where danger was imminent, I would shout out the name of Jesus to save my life. But when actually confronted with such a situation would I—could I—actually do it?
My question was, "Would I remember to do it?" When confronted with immediate danger, you don't have time to pray. That may sound different coming from a Christian, but it is truth! God's Word tells us to, "Speak to our mountain," (Matt. 21:21) and "Death and life are in the power of the tongue," (Prov. 18:21).
When we study God's Word, it teaches us about the spoken word of God.  It talks about what we, "say." It is the words we speak out that are powerful! The strongest word we can possibly speak out is the name of Jesus. One word. One name—the name of our Lord and Savior.
In Proverbs 18:10, "The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe."
The name of Jesus saves! Not just as our deliverer and redeemer, but as our protector (Ps. 91). As I have loved studying from the Complete Jewish Bible (CJB), I read that translation and love it for this verse. Proverbs 18:10 in the CJB reads, "The name of Adonai is a strong tower; a righteous person runs to it and is raised high [above danger]."
The name of Jesus does raise us high above danger when we call out His name! I have read Destined for Dominion, a book on power and authority. It speaks of our power and authority in the name of Jesus.
In the past, I have and I am sure some of you have heard people calling on the name of Jesus as a rapist was about to attack them, as a child was about to get in an accident, as a robber was approaching them and other times where violent attacks, crimes or accidents were attempting to invade their lives. But when confronted with such a situation would you remember or act on the name of Jesus, or would you freeze up and forget what to do?
The name of Jesus heals, sets free, saves, delivers and much more. The name of Jesus can cast out a demon. It can take an evil spirit that has invaded someone's life and by the name of Jesus that spirit has to disembody the person! That is a miracle to be able to cast out a demon of a person. That is the power of Jesus' name. The power of His name creates miracles.
As we were driving in treacherous road conditions on the way to a ministry trip in Nebraska, we found ourselves in unfavorable road conditions. My friend Carolyn (50) and I (46), at the time, had never driven in such perilous conditions. As we were driving on snow and ice with snow continually coming down and poor visibility, all of a sudden a semi-trailer began to jackknife right in front of us. With the road conditions, slamming on brakes was not an option. As we saw this semi turning sideways on the highway and spreading out over all 3 lanes, we did not know if we would be able to stop in time and miss hitting him. We knew we were in trouble and started shouting out the name of Jesus.
We didn't pray! We didn't have time to pray, "Oh Father please save us, come to your children and so on" I am not saying there is anything wrong with praying. I do pray daily. But in this case, we simply did not have time. We had time to call on the name of Jesus, like a strong tower, to run into his righteousness and save us! Carolyn, decreed out the words, "God protect us."
There was a parked police car on the side of the highway and the semi headed directly for the driver door with the police officer in his car. All of a sudden I called out, "I send angels to that police car right now, in the name of Jesus" and I kept speaking out the name of Jesus into the atmosphere.
As those angels went forth and the name of Jesus was being released into the atmosphere, suddenly we saw something that amazed us. The semi, which was partially jackknifed and directly in front of us, straightened out and missed the police car 2 feet away from it. Carolyn maintained control of the van while each vehicle—ours, the semi and the police car—received no damage. No one even stopped.
The name of Jesus lifted us high above danger! Praise God!
I believe I was able to call out the name of Jesus in that incident because I knew the power of Jesus' name. I had heard stories and testimonies of the power of His name. I had read books on my identity in Christ and, when He died and descended to hell for me and then on the third day ascended into heaven, He transferred His power of attorney to me. That's right. His Word says in Luke 10:19, "Look, I give you authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy. And nothing shall by any means hurt you."
He has given me power and authority. He has given you power and authority. We have to know the power and authority we have been given in His name. Like a person who awards power of attorney to another person to make decisions and act on his behalf, Jesus Christ has given us power of attorney and power and authority to operate in His name.
Knowing the name of Jesus, the power and authority it holds and how we are to use it comes from knowing our identity in Christ. We must know our identity in Christ. You must know who you are in Christ, that you are valuable, that you are of the kingdom, that you are from a world that cannot be shaken. In Acts 2:25, it says, "For David says concerning Him: 'I foresaw the Lord always before me, for He is at my right hand, that I may not be shaken.'" We must know the name and power of Jesus.
We must know our authority. There will be times in our life when we will need to call on His name.

Heart of Love - Now Think On This by Steve Martin

Heart of Love
Now Think On This
Steve Martin

“Because I regard you as valued and honored, and because I love you. For you I will give people,
nations in exchange for your life. Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. I will bring your descendants from the east, and I will gather you from the west; I will say to the north, ‘Give them up!’ and to the south, ‘Don’t hold them back! Bring my sons from far away, and my daughters from the ends of the earth, everyone who bears my name, whom I created for my glory; I formed him, yes, I made him.’”  (Isaiah 43:4-7 Complete Jewish Bible)

“Fill my heart for the nations, as Your heart is,” my spirit cried within me. As I sat in morning prayer, before the sun arose in the east, a few tears began rolling down my checks. My heart was wanting His. Yeshua (Jesus) was giving me a little bit more of His heart of love.

I love being in the Lord’s presence, those times of being where He is, as His Spirit comes down. You experience His heart – His awesome heart for His creation, the people of the nations. The mighty work of His hands, those whom He has longed to share His passion and presence, the ones He desires to commune with and share that immense heart He has.

There are moments in prayer, while listening to songs of heartfelt worship, and praying in my prayer language, when my inner man seems overwhelmed. It is like the power of the Holy Spirit is reaching down deep within me, pulling on my spirit, to know Him in a deeper way.

I just want to grab hold, with all I have within, to fully know Him as much as I can. It is similar to a young child, running into the open arms of their father, knowing it is a safe place to be. Taking the time to allow His presence to capture me is where I want to be.

Memories of other times such as these keep drawing me back to Him. The secret place of the Lord belongs to those who desire to have Him intimately within.

Psalm 91 lets us know of what it is like to be in that place of protection and peace, where His heart of love exists.

With long life I will satisfy him, and show him My salvation." (NKJV)

The particular verse, “"Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him,” is one of the many promises spoken to us in these Scriptures by the Almighty Father. As we set our own heart upon Him, Jesus the Messiah, Yeshua HaMashiach, we will continually know of His salvation – that daily saving protection, provision, and peace that the world cannot give.

We will be among those who call upon the Name of the Lord Jesus, who will see and know of His ways. We will testify of His true character, His eternal nature, of His plans and His purposes for the nations. These are promises for your family and mine.

Take time with the Lord today. Seek His face and know His heart of love.

We sure could use your help to bless the families we do in Israel, India, Pakistan, Vietnam and the hurting ones here in the USA. Please give out of the abundance you have been given.

In May, 2016, my wife Laurie and I will be traveling to Israel to spend time with our friends. We support them in word and deed. We have our plane tickets in hand. We love Israel.

Love For His People, Inc. is a charitable, not-for-profit USA humanitarian organization started in 2010 to share the love of the Father in the nations.

If these messages minister to you, please consider sending a charitable gift of $5-$25 today, and maybe each month, to help us bless families we know in Israel, whom we consistently help through our humanitarian ministry. Your tax deductible contributions receive a receipt for each donation. Fed. ID #27-1633858.
