Persistently Consistent - Now Think On This by Steve Martin

Persistently Consistent

Now Think On This
Steve Martin

“Four things on the earth are small; nevertheless, they are very wise — the ants, a species not strong, yet they store up their food in the summer…” (Proverbs 30:24-25, Complete Jewish Bible)

We all have heard stories of the ants, of how they work and work and work. I can certainly attest to that. Living here in the South (southeastern part of the USA) over these past 30 years have presented many encounters with the red fire ants. These are the ones that when they bite you, you know it because it hurts. Then a short time later, small, red blisters cover your ankles or elsewhere on those parts of the body that were exposed. Sometimes they even get you under your socks, and then it is later that you feel their bite. Just great.

I have found a method that works for me, to rid my beautiful, weed infested yard of their hills. For if you don’t deal with them, you will have nice mountains of red clay all over your scenery. So what I found that works is this.

Step on the mound with your foot (shoe on of course) to flatten the mound out. This causes them to eventually move on to the neighbor’s yard. Or if the mound has already grown to be bigger than your foot, take a plank of wood, lay it on top, step on it, and then roll it over to smash the next section. Repeat as needed. Works every time! No pesticides. No hot buckets of water to carry. No bleach killing the rest of your lawn.

It must be said of the ant colonies – they are persistently consistent.

They never give up. They never give in. They keep on working even better than the Energizer bunny did. (Is he still around, or did his battery finally die out?)

One thing that I have found that also “works” in my Christian life, in order to be faithful in the small and the large, is to be persistently consistent in what I do. Then I trust, as He promised, that I will finish the race and get His reward.

After all, who doesn’t like rewards? Even Zoe, our 10-year-old loving Dachshund, knows that if she consistently finishes her doggy supper she gets a rawhide bone! You can bet she likes rewards.

"If you are faithful in little things, you will be faithful in large ones. But if you are dishonest in little things, you won't be honest with greater responsibilities. And if you are untrustworthy about worldly wealth, who will trust you with the true riches of heaven? And if you are not faithful with other people's things, why should you be trusted with things of your own?”
(Luke 16:10-12) New Living Translation

Want to know what are some things in the disciplined Christian life that pleases our Father in heaven? Seeing His children be faithful in prayer, spending time learning about His ways in His Written Word, and being the one who others can count on when a need is needing to be met.

If you learn to be persistently consistent in your doing, you shall obtain the reward, and help others achieve that objective also.

Good servants of the Most High can be counted on, for they have learned to press on and not give up.

MUSIC FRIDAY! - God Will Make a Way (with lyrics) - Don Moen (VIDEO)

MUSIC FRIDAY!

God Will Make a Way (with lyrics)
Don Moen (VIDEO)

The album which includes the song God Will Make A Way.

Charlotte, NC

Just this week my oldest daughter Hannah sent me a text with the link to YouTube for this version of Don Moen's worship song, God Will Make A Way. She said our grandson Levi, 15 months old with TAR Syndrome, was really enjoying it. I said to myself, "Wow! My 30-something daughter is listening to Don Moen, whom is probably my favorite worship leader forever!"

I still have all his CDs, beginning from the 1980s.

This particular song was a godsend to my good wife Laurie and I, when in 1992 we were living in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, along with our children Josh, Ben, Hannah and Christen. We were struggling in our faith, and needed the Lord.

Sure, I was working with an international ministry, which was the desire of my heart, but we were 30 hours away (by car) to our families in Illinois and Iowa;  we missed the seasons of the Midwest where we both grew up; and neither of us were certain as to what was going to happen next in an important situation we were facing.

But God made a way!

If you need to have the Lord direct your steps today (and who doesn't?), listen to this song, let the Holy Spirit minister to you like only He can, and see the Lord make the way that He alone knows is the best one planned for you personally.

Be blessed in Jesus,

P.S. I met Don at an NRB (National Religious Broadcasters) convention in Nashville about a decade ago. The man in person is the same man who leads people into the presence of the Lord. Humble, genuine, and full of love for our God.
Here is Don Moen's story behind the song:
After learning that his young nephew was killed in a car accident, Don Moen searched for some way to help bring comfort to his grieving family even as he struggled with his own sorrow. While reading Isaiah 43, he asked God to give him something that would bring hope to the family in the middle of a hopeless situation. As he prayed, the words for “God Will Make A Way,” came to mind. He works in ways we cannot see, He will make a way for me.
For a while, that song remained a private message for his family. But slowly, he began sharing it with others and soon found that it was a message for the whole church. A message to cling to when “there seems to be no way.”
Written/published in 1992.

Transformation Church - Your Glory Is Beautiful/Worthy Is The Lamb medley

512 Indian Land, SC - May 21, 2017, 10 am service

The video was recorded using my IPhone 6. I was in the middle, top section of the auditorium. Sound is fairly good, but the visual keeps blurring in and out as the camera tried to adjust to the dark room with spot lights on the stage. But the Holy Spirit still moved!

Today's Israel Inspiration

At every Jewish wedding, there is a custom for the couple to sing the song "Jerusalem, if I forget you," following which the groom steps on a glass cup in order to break it into shards. Few people understand the significance of this tradition: the destruction of the Holy Temple was a catastrophic event that impacted the future of every single Jew. Therefore, even in the happiest of moments (i.e. at a wedding), we must remember the destruction and how the Jewish people are never fully complete without its presence. Although we are rejoicing over the incredible miracle of Jerusalem's reunification, we must remember that the true goal, of rebuilding the Holy Temple on the Temple Mount, is not yet complete. Therefore we must give every effort to fulfill the words of Jeremiah the Prophet (Jeremiah 33:11): to once again bring joy and song through the happiness of brides and bridegrooms as they fill the Holy City of Jerusalem once more.

The Dazzling History of Jerusalem Plays On the Old City Walls

In a stunning display of music and light, the history of Jerusalem is projected onto the walls of the Old City, from the most moving moments of the reunification to the beautiful modern tableau of today.

DNA Testing Aiding Prophetic Return of Priestly Covenant

In a powerful blend of science and religion, a rabbi has turned to genetics to reinstate the priesthood for the Third Temple. This rabbi believes that science has proven that the priesthood is exactly as the Bible described: An eternal covenant that will reappear to herald in the Third Temple.

An Unprecedented Love Story

There has never been a love story such as the one between the Jewish people and the city of Jerusalem. Despite being exiled from Jerusalem for thousands of years, Jews never ceased to pray for Jerusalem, about Jerusalem, and facing Jerusalem. Fifty years ago, we merited to see the hand of God as Jerusalem was reunited and brought under Jewish sovereignty. People from all over the world have flocked to Jerusalem to celebrate this momentous anniversary. If there was ever a time to praise God, it is now- on the 50th anniversary of the reunification of the Holy City.

Go See 'In Our Hands,' Which Tells the Miracle Story of the Six-Day War - Special Encore Presentation June 1, 2017! - STEVE STRANG CHARISMA MAGAZINE

Go See 'In Our Hands,' Which Tells the Miracle Story of the Six-Day War

Strang Report, by Steve Strang, Founder of Charisma magazine
SPECIAL ENCORE PRESENTATION THURSDAY, JUNE 1 - IN THEATERS AGAIN
Fifty years ago, a miracle happened. Israel defeated their neighbors in what has become known as the Six-Day War and reunified Jerusalem for the first time in approximately 2,000 years.
Gordon Robertson of CBN had the vision to create a docudrama drawing from the actual journals, recordings and interviews with survivors of what happened in faithful hours. It is showing on Tuesday, May 23, in more than 700 theaters around the country—for one night only.
I had the privilege of screening the movie in advance, and it is excellent, which you can tell from the trailer here. It tells the story from the Jewish perspective and reveals a great deal of little-known but very interesting information, such as how the soldiers who took the Temple Mount were actually reservists rather than an elite military team. The film also gives some insight into the personalities of some of those involved.
I was pleased to interview Robertson on my "Strang Report" podcast, which you can listen to below. He talks about how the Six-Day War is a fulfillment of Luke 21:24 (MEV), "And Jerusalem will be trampled on by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled."
In 1967, Gordon was only 9 when his father, Pat Robertson—who has been a strong supporter for Israel for decades and is a real student of Bible prophecy—sat the family down and told them the significance of what was happening in the Six-Day War.
On our calendar, the anniversary of the beginning of The Six-Day War is June 5, but because the Jewish calendar is different, it is actually May 23 when the Jews celebrate Jerusalem Day worldwide. This significant day, Yom Yerushalayim, is the day the movie is being released.
President Donald Trump had planned a major speech from Masada—the site in the Judaean wilderness where Jews fought the Romans until the last person died. Instead, the speech will come at the Israel Museum in Jerusalem (the location hadn't changed when the podcast was recorded). This is the first international trip of his Trump's presidency, and he obviously picked this date because of the significance to the Jewish people in order to make a point.
Sadly, the Obama administration almost seemed more sympathetic toward Israel's Arab enemies than it did to Israel. In the closing days of Obama's administration, the United States abstained from vetoing a United Nations resolution that condemned Israel for "occupying" the West Bank, which includes East Jerusalem.
As Gordon points out in the podcast, the Six-Day War is more than politics. It was God Almighty who prophesied in His Word that this war would happen. For Christians, it is also significant because the area being disputed is also the sight of the Holy Sepulchre, the Garden of Gethsemane and the City of David.
While the prophecy in Luke 21:24 was fulfilled in 1967, Gordon explains there is another great prophecy—that all the nations of the world will assemble against Jerusalem (Zech. 14:2). This is something that is obviously very serious and, as a strong supporter of Israel, I hate to think the United States would ever align with the enemies of Israel to oppose that country.
I plan to personally invite some Jewish friends to see the movie with me next Tuesday, and I urge you to do the same. In fact, you can get group tickets by visiting inourhands1967.com.
I congratulate Gordon Robertson and his team on an excellent project. The timing is incredible. My hope is that this movie will help reveal to those who may be on the fence regarding the Israel-Arab conflict how God's hand is on the nation of Israel and on the events of 1967.
Please share this on social media as well as with members of your church and others in your circle of influence, and let's pack out those theaters on Tuesday, May 23.
