Alabama Putting God Back in Schools with Ten Commandments, 'In God We Trust' Displays - CBN News Kayla Root

Alabama Putting God Back in Schools with Ten Commandments, 'In God We Trust' Displays
08-13-2018
CBN News Kayla Root
Alabama public schools are hoping to bring God back into their schools by displaying the US motto
"In God We Trust" on school buildings.

In February, the Alabama legislature approved a new law allowing such displays on public property,
and now is giving schools the right to exhibit the motto as well.

The national motto, approved by Congress in 1956, is already displayed in 17 public venues in
Alabama, and the Blount County school board plans to be the first to implement the motto in its
schools.

Officials say the legislation is not a mandate, like what was approved by Tennessee lawmakers this
spring requiring the motto to be on display inside all public schools.

Republican state Rep. David Standridge, who sponsored the original legislation that took effect July 1,
seemed like a better approach to make it permissive rather than a mandate.

Superintendent Rodney Green said the board is working on a policy on the issue that could be drafted
within the next month.

"We're a diverse society and state and I just thought the local entities needed input," Standridge said.
"They are kind of wanting to be the model, if you will, for any system that wants to go down this path."
AL.com reports Alabama voters will also decide in November whether the state's 117-year-old
constitution should be changed to allow public schools to display the Ten Commandments.

"My hope is they have the Ten Commandments in the schools all over the state of Alabama as well as
the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution and the historical documents that go with this
country," said Dean Young, chairman of the Ten Commandments Political Action Committee. "That
way, children will be able to see and ask, 'What are these documents' and a teacher can say, 'Those are
the Ten Commandments and they come from God and this is what they say.'"

Other states have failed in their efforts to display the Ten Commandments. A Pennsylvania high school
had to remove a 6-foot Ten Commandments monument last year after the Freedom From Religion
Foundation filed a federal lawsuit.

Young said several Christian legal groups are prepared for a legal battle with any schools that are sued
over the issue.

Arkansas, Minnesota, Florida and Tennessee are other states that have similar laws regarding "In God
We Trust" displays.

As we know...there is so much being revealed in the news even this week and saints...we should be stepping up in our prayer life!

Hank Kunneman is a mighty prophetic voice that God is rising up in this hour as his voice is speaking a true word of the Lord that we all need to hear and pray into right now.

Hank just gave this word of the Lord on October 15th:

"But now I shall put My hand upon the neck of the media, and they shall speak what I shall force them to say, because they will not be able to deny that which shall happen before them, and great and fearful sights shall unfold that shall be the work of My hand. For in this time, I say to you who have ears to hear, I have declared in My Word: pray, watch, and then give thanks."

Hank also mentions words for Russia, Ukraine, North Korea and others. Please pass this on and let's be praying for a mighty move of God in our land and in the nations!

"Russia, Shocking News, Shakings and the Disarming of Fools!" Hank Kunneman, Omaha, NE

As many seek the Lord in prayer, here is a prophetic word given back on October 15th that we can use as points to pray about. This word was given prior to the things we are seeing about Russia in the news. It's another call for God's people to watch a pray!

Prophetic Word Given by Hank Kunneman on October 15th, 2017 10:45AM Service:

Shocking News, Shakings and the Disarming of Fools!

"For I have declared," says the Lord God of Hosts, "that in this New Year I shall speak with My voice, and My voice shall be heard loudly; for the media and those who listen to the media and repeat their words are speaking loudly.

"But now I shall put My hand upon the neck of the media, and they shall speak what I shall force them to say, because they will not be able to deny that which shall happen before them, and great and fearful sights shall unfold that shall be the work of My hand. For in this time, I say to you who have ears to hear, I have declared in My Word: pray, watch, and then give thanks.

"I speak this to you at this moment because it is time now for the Lord to act. It is time for the Lord to show you what I am about to unveil. This that I shall do, shall be reported, it shall be known and it shall be seen. Listen to what I say:

"Disarm a fool, and this is folly if you disarm him only. Disarm a fool and displace him is far better wisdom. So this that I speak shall happen. This that I speak, it is now time for your president, it is time for the generals, and it is time for that which is and shall be covert – it is time for Me to act. Watch. Pray.

I Will Shake Russia

"Surely this earth will give thanks for they will say, 'Is this how you deal with a mad man?' Watch. My voice shall shake the Bear, Russia.

"There shall come surprising and shocking news out of you, Russia. Your soil will shake. Your leader and leadership shall be shaken. Your buildings will be shaken. Your military I shall shake. I will take that which has been done in secret with Iran, and I will shake it and bring it to the light.

"I will shake, O' Bear of Russia, what you have been working and what you have worked in secret even with North Korea. It is time for the Lord to act, and I will shake free from Ukraine the hand of the Bear.

"It is time," says the Spirit of God, "to show this earth that I am the Lord who sits as King. It is time for Me to show that I have a sense of humor. Now watch and behold the wonders of your God, who can back off a Bear, who can hold the Dragon at bay, that I may disarm and displace a fool."

Watch Alabama

I see Alabama. The Spirit of God says, "Watch Alabama. Watch how I will move through their courts that shall be a prototype of what I will bring to the court that you say is Supreme. Are you ready for vacancies? Are you ready to see how I will step in and shake your Supreme Court once again?

"Watch, watch Me surprise you, and watch Me establish righteousness and godliness upon your courts. Look to Alabama, I will do it there and I will do it upon your court, your Supreme Court too," says the Spirit of grace.

Alabama's Dismemberment Abortion Ban Is Under Attack

BOB ESCHLIMAN  CHARISMA NEWS
With the West Alabama Women's Center—with support from the ACLU, Planned Parenthood and other liberal pro-abortion activists—challenging Alabama's law prohibiting dismemberment abortions, Liberty Counsel has stepped forward in defense of life.
In filing an amicus brief on behalf of the American Association of Pro-Life Obstetricians & Gynecologists and the American College of Pediatricians, Liberty Counsel attorneys have written that dilation and extraction abortions, based on the medical evidence of unborn children's ability to feel intense pain, are both "barbaric" and "gruesome." It argues that the Alabama law protects the health and safety of the mothers as well as furthering the state's "compelling interests in respecting the life of the unborn child, preventing cruel and unusual punishment and protecting the ethics and integrity of the medical profession."
The brief details medical experts' testimony to Congress and in other states that demonstrate unborn children can respond to painful stimuli as early as the eighth week of development. It also details the emotional and psychological toll that can be inflicted upon physicians who perform these D&E abortions.
Click here to read the entire brief.
"We give our pets greater legal protections than we provide to the future citizens of America who have proven their humanity and their sensitivity to pain," Liberty Counsel Founder and Chairman Mat Staver said. "Alabama's law is a commonsense solution to a barbaric and gruesome procedure."

South Carolina House Passes Bill Excluding Sharia Law From State Courts - Breitbart.com

South Carolina House Passes Bill Excluding Sharia Law From State Courts

Breitbart.com Jan. 28, 20160

The South Carolina House has passed a bill blocking Islamic sharia law from being recognized or approved in the state, after years of debate over similar legislation.

The legislation voted upon was explained as “A bill to amend the code of laws of South Carolina … so as to prevent a court or other enforcement authority from enforcing foreign law including, but not limited to, Sharia Law in this state from a forum outside of the United States or its territories under certain circumstances.”
On Thursday, the legislation passed with 68 for the bill and 42 opposed.
Sharia law is the legal and political system mandated in the Koran and other Islamic texts. It include laws governing religious practice, such as praying and ritual washing. But sharia also rules what Westerners see as non-government social practices — divorce, child-rearing, free-speech, clothing or sexual behavior, for example — and it also rules government responses to crimes, such as theft and murder.
Sharia law relegates women and non-Muslims to a lesser status, and grants men enormous authority over wives, daughters and sons. It allows for the primitive treatment of women and non-Muslims, and allows fierce punishment — sometimes, “honor killings” by fathers — for refusing to complying with sharia mandates.
The bill was sponsored by Rep. Chip Limehouse. He told Breitbart News following the bill’s passage:
“This goes to demonstrate that the South Carolina House of Representatives is committed to preserving and protecting the American way of life here in South Carolina.”
“Sharia Law has been used as a defense in American courtrooms,” he adds. “We are working towards making that defense not an option for radical extremists from any country.”
“In South Carolina, we’ve had cases where people have tried to use [the rules of] Sharia Law as a defense, and we are speaking very clearly from the South Carolina House,” Limehouse said. “Shariah Law can not and will not be used as a legal defense in the state of South Carolina.”
Because the bill was passed at the beginning of the current legislative session, Rep. Limehouse said he was optimistic that the Senate would have enough time to pass the bill. In order for the bill to become law, it must now be passed by the South Carolina State Senate and signed by Governor Nikki Haley.
Tea Party and conservative grassroots organizations are credited with initiating the movement to ban sharia rules through the state legislatures. Conservative leaders Newt Gingrich, Sarah Palin, and Michele Bachmann have publicly advocated for the need to enact nation-wide legislation against the threat of sharia.
Underground sharia courts operate in Muslim communities throughout Europe and alsoin the United States. Last year, Breitbart Texas reported that a “voluntary” sharia court had already been established in Texas.
Several countries in Europe, including the United Kingdom, France, and Germany, have many underground sharia courts within migrant communities. In the U.K, the government has formally deputized at least one sharia court to decide non-criminal issues among people who agree to use the court, even as public concerns rise that immigrant women are socially pressured to accept the courts’ authority
U.S. opponents of sharia courts point to Europe for evidence that western democracies can gradually cede more de-facto legal authority to self-segregating Muslim communities, so enabling the self-segregation of Muslim communities into no-go zones within cities.
Several states–including Alabama, Arizona, Kansas, Louisiana, North Carolina South Dakota, and Tennessee–have passed “foreign law” bans against sharia. More than a dozen other states are currently considering similar legislation.

The Powerful Prophetic Message of 'Woodlawn' - J. LEE GRADY FIRE IN MY BONES, CHARISMA MAGAZINE

'Woodlawn' is a must-see film.

'Woodlawn' is a must-see film. (Facebook)

The Powerful Prophetic Message of 'Woodlawn'

Fire in My Bones, by J. Lee Grady
I rarely endorse films, and I don't get any benefit from movie companies if I do. But I loved the movie Woodlawn so much that I am telling everybody to see it before it leaves the local Cineplex. You will want to buy the DVD too, even if you aren't a fan of high school football. Woodlawn is the most unapologetically Christian film I've ever seen because it maintains an artful quality without ever becoming cheesy.
American audiences are starved for films with positive messages that reinforce Christian faith instead of mocking it, and Hollywood has noticed that faith-based movies are getting better. War Room has already made $66 million since it released in August. Other faith-based films are due out in the next few months, including The 33 (about the miraculous 2010 rescue of Chilean miners, due in theaters Nov. 13) and Risen (about an unbelieving Roman soldier who investigates the resurrection of Jesus, out Jan. 22, 2016).
But Woodlawn, produced by Andrew and Jon Erwin, gets my vote for the best Christian film of the year because its message has relevance far outside the walls of the church.  And it carries a prophetic message about the time we live in—which is really not that different from the turmoil of the early 1970s.
The film is set in 1973 in Birmingham, Alabama—at a time when local schools are required to desegregate. Racial tensions have reached the breaking point at Woodlawn High, a white school that suddenly must accommodate blacks. Students, parents, coaches and the school's principal are all on edge.
People who remember the era of desegregation may also recall that another movement was stirring in America. Time magazine called it the Jesus Revolution. In Woodlawn, the two movements collide.
The school's football coach, Tandy Gerelds (played by Nic Bishop), is trying to get his black and white players to get along, with no success. Then an unassuming evangelist named Hank (played convincingly by Sean Astin of Lord of the Rings) asks if he can give a pep talk to the boys in the school gymnasium. When he does, almost every guy on the team gives his life to Jesus.
"What just happened?" a baffled Coach Gerelds asks his assistant coach. Later in the film, Hank gives the answer: "This is what happens when God shows up."
The film is based on true events and focuses on the life of one student, Tony Nathan (played by Caleb Castille), who becomes the first black football player for Woodlawn High. When he stands in the gym with the rest of his players and becomes a committed Christian, he doesn't realize he's joined a spiritual revolution. But with the word "BELIEVE" scribbled on the back of his helmet, and his index finger raised high to proclaim Jesus as the "one way" to heaven, he leads his team to unexpected victories—not only against opposing teams but also against a vile spirit of racism that has pervaded Birmingham.
The movie gets a special boost from veteran actor Jon Voight, who plays University of Alabama coach Paul "Bear" Bryant. He goes looking to recruit Nathan to play for the Crimson Tide, and in the process is impressed with the young man's faith. After someone burns a cross in front of Nathan's home, Bryant pays a visit and tells him: "You know the difference between you and these people? They're cowards. And you ain't."
Woodlawn is 100 percent inspiration, but it never stoops to being sugar-coated—even when Coach Gerelds walks into a black church and tells the folks he has given his heart to Christ. You could show this film in a Sunday school class, but it has just as much appeal to secular audiences because the acting is first-class, the production values are masterful and the anti-racism message is as needed today as it was in 1973. It's similar in tone to Remember the Titans or The Blind Side, but neither of those films have this much heart.
The film also includes actual footage of a Billy Graham sermon at Explo '72, a huge gathering of young Christians that took place in Dallas and galvanized the Jesus movement. Those images reminded me that during one of the darkest times in American history—when white supremacists were bombing churches in the South and police were spraying black protesters with fire hoses—the gospel was being preached as the only means to achieve racial healing.
Historians have already proven that the young people who came to Christ during the Jesus movement eventually became the leaders of today's church. It was the most powerful move of God in our lifetime. For me, Woodlawn not only chronicles how God poured out His Spirit in one school in Alabama—it also reminds me that He can and will do it again.

'Fix It, Jesus' Emergency Prayer at Graduation Goes Viral

Christian Crawford

'Fix It, Jesus' Emergency Prayer at Graduation Goes Viral

A recent high school graduate in Alabama is the spotlight for his impromptu graduation ceremony prayer.
When Thursday night's Clay-Chalksville High School graduation ceremony was interrupted by a medical emergency, graduating senior Christian Crawford stepped up to the podium and asked everyone to join him in prayer, The Trussville Tribune reported.
"Everybody, can I have your attention real quick?" Crawford asked. "We don't know what's going on, but we will pray. We know that prayer is power, and that God is able. Let's pray," he said as he bowed his head.
"Father God, we thank you for this day, Lord. We pray right now that whatever is going on, you will fix it, God. We pray that you will heal it, God. We pray that you will redeem it, God. We pray that you will deliver it, God," he prayed. "Because we know that you are a God who knows how to make a way," he continued.
"And in the name of Jesus we declare and decree in the name of Jesus that whatever is going on shall be fixed because you are a God who is a fixer. You are a God who is a healer. Jehovah God, Jehovah-Jireh, Jehovah-Nissi, Jehovah-Shiloh. Fix it, Jesus. In Jesus' name, amen."
When Crawford finished praying, the crowd cheered and the graduation ceremony continued. The video, posted courtesy of The Trussville Tribune has gone viral.
"I'm glad the video has gotten this far," Crawford said. "But it's all to God be the glory. If God is not getting the glory, then this whole thing is in vain."
Crawford is the senior class president and wants a career in politics. He has been asked to present the opening prayer at the Alabama legislature next Wednesday.

Roy Moore: What Gay Marriage Fight Is Really About

Roy Moore: What Gay Marriage Fight Is Really About

MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- As a Vietnam War veteran, Roy Moore is no stranger to a fight. But today he's engaged in a battle of a different kind – one being waged in the courts.
Moore, Alabama's Supreme Court Chief Justice, is an ardent and outspoken supporter of traditional marriage.
His latest move stirred the debate into a frenzy, when he ordered Alabama's probate judges to stop granting marriage licenses to same-sex couples after U.S. District Court Judge Callie Grenade struck down the state's constitutional amendment upholding traditional marriage and preventing gays from taking their vows.
The measure, known as the Sanctity of Marriage Amendment, which defines marriage as an "inherently" and "unique" "sacred covenant" between a man and a woman, was approved by 81 percent of the state's voters in 2006.
"To me it boils down to the simple fact that federal courts across this land have mandated their will, unlawfully, over the people of the states," he told CBN News in an exclusive interview at his office. "Thirty-seven states didn't legalize [same-sex marriage]. Federal courts came in and mandated they accept this."
The conflicting orders put the state front and center in the national debate over marriage, making Alabama the first state to defy a federal judge's ruling on the issue.
It is now as much of a case on state courts versus federal courts as it is a question of states' rights versus equal rights.
"This began not as defiance of a federal court order. In fact, I was simply clarifying for the court and everybody else in the state of Alabama that this one federal judge did not have authority to issue orders to the probate courts who were not under her case and not involved in the case," Judge Moore explained.
He told CBN News that before giving his order, he asked the governor and state attorney general to get involved and issue an executive. Neither did.
"There's a lot of feeling out there that this was embarrassing to the state and somehow it would cost revenue and loss of jobs - at least that's what the governor said. I feel otherwise," he said.
"I think to stand up for the moral foundation upon which the nation is based and which our faith is based and our laws are based is very important and could not let these marriages occur," he said.
Moore's position is that state courts have just as much authority to interpret the U.S. Constitution as the federal courts do, and that the debate over marriage isn't about equal protection.
Instead, he says it's about redefining an age-old institution that has long formed the foundation of families.
"No federal court, to include the U.S. Supreme Court, has authority to go into the Constitution and define the word marriage. Marriage was defined long before our country began," he told CBN News.
"If we allow federal courts to intrude into the subject of marriage, then they will intrude into the subject of parent and child and husband and wife. And this is very important because this won't end with two men getting married or two women getting married," Moore warned.
Critics call Moore a bigot, homophobic, and intolerant. Some have even compared him to former Alabama Gov. George Wallace, who infamously fought a federal government order to integrate the University of Alabama.
Moore disagrees.
"This is about sexual preference. The other is about a natural genetic makeup which should not be discriminated against," he said. "And when you're talking about these things, you're mixing something up with racial discrimination, which is not discriminating on the basis of a preference."
Moore recently received support for his argument from one of the most unlikely places: The New York Times.
In a recent opinion piece titled, "What Alabama's Roy Moore Got Right,"he was described as "provocative and out-of-touch," but the article added, "As for the word 'marriage,' Moore is right that the Supreme Court cannot mandate how we use a word, any more than it can create a social institution on its own."
"When the liberal newspapers, The New York Times, start saying you're doing something right, that's a good thing," Moore explained.
"What is your fear of what will happen if people like you don't take this stand?" CBN News' John Jessup asked Moore.
"Because it's not just redefining marriage, it's giving no definition to marriage," he replied. "So we're destroying an institution ordained by God, and under the 10th Amendment, they're [the federal courts] not entitled to change our laws."
It's a debate many believe will be resolved by the Supreme Court before the end of its current term in June.

History[edit source | editbeta]

Andy Chrisman, Mark Harris, Marty Magehee, and Kirk Sullivan originally met when they sang together in Truth, a Contemporary Christian vocal group founded in the late 1960s and directed by Roger Breland. Truth had a rotating roster of four male and four female vocalists. After three representatives from Benson Records attended several Truth concerts in the late 1980s during which Andy, Mark, Marty, and Kirk performed, Benson approached the quartet saying that they wanted to use the guys to create a new male four-member vocal group under the Benson label. "Where There Is Faith", their first single, stayed at No. 1 on the charts for eight weeks, two months before 4Him left Truth. Releasing their self-titled debut in 1990, they blended the traditions of Christian music's past, with modern pop production and practical lyrics. In 1995, they were featured in the Warren Chaney docudrama,America: A Call to Greatness.[1]

In 1996, with the release of The Message, 4Him changed their overall sound in an effort to keep pushing the creative limits of the group. The guys replaced the over-the-top orchestrations and choral vocal arrangements with a stripped down, acoustic band approach where one of the guys would sing lead and the other three would sing backing vocals. On 1998’s Obvious, each member took more ownership of their music – becoming more involved in the production and songwriting aspects.

By 2004, all four of the guys reevaluated the future of the ministry. After close to seventeen years together, the members of 4Him decided to embark on solo careers.[2] On September 23, 2006, they performed their final concert at Cottage Hill Baptist Church in Mobile, AL, the city where 4Him’s 17-year journey first started. At that concert, various individuals (including family members, record producers, management, and Truth founder Roger Breland) were recognized for their contributions to 4Him’s ministry.
