Joel C. Rosenberg's Blog: We didn’t always celebrate Easter. Here’s how my parents & I became followers of Jesus Christ.

New post on Joel C. Rosenberg's Blog

We didn’t always celebrate Easter. Here’s how my parents & I became followers of Jesus Christ.

by joelcrosenberg
What a joy and undeserved honor it is to celebrate Easter in the Holy Land, where Jesus of Nazareth traveled and taught and healed and loved His neighbors and His enemies.
Unfortunately, too few Jews and Arabs in this region get as excited about Easter as I do. Amongst six million Israeli Jews, about two million Israeli Arabs, and another four million-plus Palestinian Arabs, only about 30,000 are born again believers that Jesus is the Messiah who died on the cross and rose again from the dead on the third day, according to the Scriptures. The good news is wonderful news -- but not enough people in this part of the world know it or believe it.
Then again, my family and I weren't always excited about Easter. There was a time when we hadn't heard the Gospel. And even when we did hear about God's free gift of forgiveness and hope and eternal life, we didn't all immediately believe it. My parents and I understand what it's like to be lost, and to feel lost, and to genuinely have no idea that God loves us and wants to adopt us into His royal family.
Today, I'd like to share with you our spiritual journey. In this hour-long audio message (divided up in 5 to 10 minute segments on YouTube), I explain the process my parents went through to come to faith in Jesus Christ, how I later came to faith in Christ myself, and later how I experienced a powerful spiritual revival in my junior year of high school that completely transformed my life. I hope it will encourage you in your own spiritual journey, and that it will be something you can share with family and friends to help and encourage them, as well. Thanks and God bless you.
  • My spiritual journey — part 1 — how becoming the author of The Last Jihadtriggered people asking me a critical question
  • Part 2 — how my Jewish grandparents escaped from Russia, my father’s Jewish upbringing, my mother’s Gentile heritage, and how they met
  • Part 3 — my mother’s spiritual journey
  • Part 4 — my father’s spiritual journey, and then how I came to faith
  • Part 5 — how I learned I was Jewish, and then my crisis of faith in high school
  • Part 6 — the conclusion of my story, and so what? Why should this matter to you?

Purim's Passover Lamb! - Charles Gardner ISRAEL TODAY

Purim's Passover Lamb!

Tuesday, March 22, 2016 |  Charles Gardner
ISRAEL TODAY

I’ve been telling the story of Passover, and of its link with the Last Supper Jesus shared with his disciples, to classes of young schoolchildren in the UK. And I have mentioned how roast lamb is an important part of the meal because Yeshua was the ultimate Passover Lamb sacrificed for the sins of all who put their trust in him.
We do this every year as part of an ‘Easter Journey’ explaining the message of Christianity in many of the schools of our Yorkshire town.
Easter usually falls very close to Passover, making it easier to link the two feasts. But this year the spring festivals seem to be slightly out of sync, with Purim falling around this key Christian celebration instead, starting on Wednesday and ending on Thursday evening – the day before Good Friday, when Jesus died on the cross, and on the very night when the Last Supper is traditionally thought to have taken place.
So perhaps this fusion is particularly apt, after all, as Purim is the time when Jews celebrate their rescue from a genocidal plot by the Persian official Haman. Queen Esther, a beautiful young Jewish woman, then risked her life by pleading with King Xerxes for her people to be spared without being officially invited into his presence, according to protocol. “I will go to the king, even though it is against the law. And if I perish, I perish,” she pledged (Esther 4.16), and thus became the means of redemption for God’s chosen people.
Today’s Persia (modern Iran) has declared their intention of wiping Israel off the map, perhaps with the nuclear missiles they are developing, in a similar way to Haman.
But now we have someone even greater than Queen Esther – the King of Israel, Yeshua HaMashiach – who has already come to their rescue.
Esther was prepared to die for her people; Jesus willingly died for his people, and for us all! He has already paid for their sins by going to the cross “like a lamb to the slaughter” (Isaiah 53.7) and, when Israel’s enemies threaten to destroy her in the last days (which we appear to be witnessing now), he will fight against them (Zechariah 14.3). The Jewish race will not only be spared, but will also enjoy everlasting salvation (Zech 12.10, Romans 11.26) through the ultimate sacrifice of the ‘Lamb of God’, as John the Baptist described his cousin Jesus (John 1.29).
Whereas Esther brought redemption to her people in ancient days, Jesus is their Saviour now. Unlike Esther, “he had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him…he was despised and rejected by men…But he was pierced for our transgressions…” (Isaiah 53.2-5)
And Isaiah’s message to the Gentiles is: “Comfort, comfort my people, says your God. Speak tenderly to Jerusalem, and proclaim…that her sin has been paid for…” (Isaiah 40.1, 2)
The joy of the Purim parties will overflow when the Messiah, who first appeared as a suffering servant riding on a donkey, is finally revealed as the King of Israel!

Miracles Unfold in This Prayer Garden - CBN NEWS

Miracles are unfolding in a Texas prayer garden.

Miracles Unfold in This Prayer Garden

Miracles are unfolding in a Texas prayer garden. (CBN)

Join us on our podcast each weekday for an interesting story, well told, from Charisma News. Listen at charismapodcastnetwork.com.

On a summit overlooking Kerrville in the beautiful hill country of west Texas, a 77-foot cross towers over the landscape.
Max Greiner shares, "The empty cross is the main sculpture, contemporary sculpture made of CorTen steel. It's 77 feet tall, and it weighs approximately 70 tons.
At the foot of the cross, lies the "Coming King Sculpture Prayer Garden." It's a collection of donated art and sculptures depicting Jesus's life. Artist and sculptor Max Greiner is the founder and president of the foundation.
Max says, "We've built this garden as a place where people can connect with God without having to go through a bunch of religion."
Max says God gave him the vision for the garden in 2002. But it would take 13 years of praying, planning and more than a few miracles to see that vision come to life. Since then, thousands from over 30 countries have visited to encounter Jesus in a creative and imaginative way.
Max shares, "It attracts people that are looking for art or just for an outdoor garden experience. And in the process, they find God."
Max believes it's no coincidence that the landscape of the garden is similar to the holy land.
Max states, "This garden is at the same latitude as Israel. So God sovereignly put it in this place, this Bible belt of Texas. The plants, everything, the hills, the limestone rocks, it all looks like Israel."
As visitors walk the stone path to the cross, they can read different Bible verses written in Spanish, English and German that explain God's love. Visitors can also speak with one of several volunteer chaplains on hand, or write prayer requests on stones and place them near the cross. Some have reported miraculous encounters.
Max says, "Addictions are being broken off, alcoholics are coming, drug addicts are coming. Again, 19 people were suicidal that we know of, and came up, and God set them free from the spirit of suicide. And they gave their life to Christ."
They also hold a special Easter service to help people celebrate the resurrection of Christ.
Max shares, "We've also now started an Easter celebration on the Saturday before where we invite in Christian bands and Christian worship teams and then speakers of different denominations that come in. And so all day Saturday, we have this free celebration, resurrection celebration."
Max hopes to reproduce the garden around the world so that others can experience the love of Jesus.
Max states, "All you have to do is come, and you'll find Jesus there. You'll find the Holy Spirit there, and the Father's there. And it's for everybody, whether you're a believer or whether you're from other religions or no religion, or just wondering. We just invite you to come."

President Obama Admits Flaws, Shares Heart at Prayer Breakfast

President Obama Admits Flaws, Shares Heart at Prayer Breakfast

President Barack Obama
President Barack Obama (Reuters)
President Obama turned both personal and preachy Tuesday (April 7) during his annual Easter Prayer Breakfast, which he has hosted at the White House six times since he was elected.
The long list of Christian leaders attending included Sojourners' Jim Wallis, National Association of Evangelicals President Leith Anderson, Roman Catholic Cardinal Donald Wuerl, the Rev. Al Sharpton, retired Episcopal Bishop Gene Robinson, civil rights veteran the Rev. C.T. Vivian and African Methodist Episcopal Bishop Vashti McKenzie. The Rev. Amy Butler of New York's Riverside Church gave the opening prayer.
Here are four memorable statements from the event:
1. Though he said, "I am no preacher," he almost preached:
"Even as we grapple with the sheer enormity of Jesus' sacrifice, on Easter we can't lose sight of the fact that the story didn't end on Friday," he said. "The story keeps on going. On Sunday comes the glorious resurrection of our savior."
"Easter is our affirmation that there are better days ahead — and also a reminder that it is on us, the living, to make them so," he added.
2. He acknowledged he falls short of the mark:
"Today we celebrate the magnificent glory of our risen savior. I pray that we will live up to his example. I pray that I will live up to his example. I fall short so often. Every day I try to do better."
3. He praised several preachers, including the late Rev. Gardner C. Taylor:
He quoted the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. and acknowledged Pope Francis, whom he will welcome to the White House later this year and "who encourages us to seek peace, to serve the marginalized and be good stewards of God's creation."
And he remembered the Rev. Gardner C. Taylor, the "dean of American preaching," who died on Easter Sunday at age 96.
"Anybody who had the privilege of hearing him speak knows what power he had," the president said. "He was a friend of Dr. King who used his spellbinding sermons to spread the gospel and open people's hearts and minds."
4. He tears up when he thinks of his daughters:
"I want to thank everybody here for their prayers, which mean so much to me and Michelle, particularly at a time when my daughters are starting to grow up and starting to go on college visits. I need prayer. I start tearing up in the middle of the day and I can't explain it. Why am I so sad? They're leaving me."

Pope Francis And A Word I Received on the Catholic Church - Kim Clement (April 19, 2014)

Pope Francis And A Word I Received
God's Warriors,
What an unusual and incredible season we are in!!!!!After our powerful prayer gatherings and the Prophetic Alert these past few weeks, on Monday I finally sat back, breathed a sigh of relief and thought, “Time to sit back and take a breath.” Within minutes I was in a state of an “ecstatic” perception, caught into a prophetic elevation, and during this moment I caught a glimpse of a variety of religious garments and oil being poured on them. Then I saw Pope Francis, a massive spiritual renewal, and a shaking in heaven and on earth.  Over the next few hours and especially when I went to my Garden to pray the next morning,I realized how BIG this global event was going to be.  A few days later I received a phone call confirming that what I had seen was already in the making. This Easter weekend, the prophetic utterance will be released when we gather together on Saturday.

On the very night/day of the blood moon, April 14/15, this all unfolded without us actually realizing it until later.  Israel was affected by the blood moon in 1948-49 and in 1967-68, but this blood moon (April 15th) was the beginning of a global shaking that will affect the Roman Catholic Church.

There is MORE. Join me live this Saturday at THE DEN -12 PM (Pacific time) only on kimclement.tv.

Hours after Pope Benedict shocked the world by unexpectedly resigning on February 11, 2013, a clear sign from the heavens struck the heart of the Vatican, a sign connected to a prophetic declaration uttered several years ago on the soil of Portland, Oregon on April 2, 2005.  On
Codebreakers, we will investigate this prophecy and other prophetic utterances spoken years in advance, which are connected to the Catholic Church and this present Pope. What new and unusual manifestation has the Spirit planned for hundreds of millions around the world?
Do not miss.

Kim Clement
Saturday's broadcast (April 19th) will be LIVE online from12:00PM PT/3:00PM ET/7:00PM GMT. You can join us at www.kimclement.tv at the scheduled time. We will replay this event immediately following the LIVE broadcast.
