Feeling at Home in Jerusalem - Steve Martin, Love For His People

Oct. 22, 2025

Greetings to you once again. From Jerusalem!

Laurie and I have now settled into the wonderful Christian Friends of Israel apartment provided for us these next three months. It is located just a mile from the USA Embassy (Hi Mike Huckabee!) in SE Jerusalem, and close to where Derek Prince passed on after his 15 years living here in the Land of Israel. I share more below.

Ahava and shalom always to you,

Steve and Laurie Martin

P.S. We are amazed at how the Lord God of Israel has provided. Thank You, Lord! (Top photo: Sunrise over Jerusalem Oct. 21, 2025 from our apartment porch/veranda. The other: Laurie's ankle brace still on as the swelling in her broken ankle continues to occur. Thak you for praying! (Photos by Steve.)

Israel Photo of the Week: Steve and Laurie with Sharon Sanders, co-Founder of Christian Friends of Israel, with her late husband Ray (who passed on Oct. 6, 2023). She had invited us to lunch in her home in Jerusalem. Midwest style egg salad sandwhiches! (Oct. 19, 2025)

Feeling at Home in Jerusalem

And the Angel of God, who went before the camp of Israel, moved and went behind them; and the pillar of cloud went from before them and stood behind them.” Exodus 14:19, NKJV

Have you ever wondered how many different ways the Lord leads you? He speaks to us using several methods. Either by Scripture (His written Word, logos), a spoken word (rhema), direction that seemingly comes out of nowhere through another person, or a prophetic word given in ministry through His vessels having that gift of the Holy Spirit. He speaks and guides even through songs we hear, books we read, movies we see, or His ministering, guardian angels.

I can’t say that I have seen or felt an angel in my presence, but heh, I will accept anyway the Lord, the Living God of Israel, choses to guide me. May that be the case with you too.

Laurie and I arrived on October 16, 2025, in the Holy City, the capital city of Israel, the city where Yeshua (Jesus) walked 2,000 years ago. In English it is called Jerusalem. The Hebrew name is Yerushalayim.

The Lord had spoken to us to bless the Jews and their Land beginning in 1989 at a conference in northern Michigan. Renowned Bible teacher, Derek Prince, among others, was one of the speakers. As many have heard my story before, his message, “Our Debt to Israel” was planted solidly in my heart. Our journey towards Jerusalem had begun.

Having then served a combined 24 years with one major ministry that was residing in this Land of the Jews (Vision For Israel with Barry and Batya Segal), two in the USA (Derek Prince Ministries and Mahesh and Bonnie Chavda Ministries), and 14 years on the Christian Friends of Israel USA board, the seed grew and flourished.

Laurie has been a great helpmate, providing in our Charlotte home, helping raise our four children Joshua, Benjamin, Hannah and Christen whom the Lord had blessed us with, and working with 2-year-olds for 20 years at Calvary Development Center in Charlotte, North Carolina. At the same time, we both established Love For His People Ministry in 2010.

Each of us had been, and continue to be, prepared for this time we are now in. Forty eight years of marriage also helped! (Trust me. Marriage takes the rough edges off. And then some.)

We feel right at home here in Jerusalem. Called, prepared, sent out, and now doing what the Lord knew from all eternity we would be doing. Hearing, obeying, and following the Holy Spirit’s (Ruach HaKodesh) leading got us here.

His grace, His mercy, His provision, His mentors kept us along the way. Each and every one were needed, and we are so grateful for all, as we have walked together in His plans and purposes.

I know so many of you are doing what you have been called to do also. Together we are all so blessed. Blessings on ye heads!

Ahava (love) and Shalom (peace),

Steve Martin

Abraham Walked in Faith - Steve Martin, Love For His People

Abraham Walked in Faith

By faith Abraham, when he was called, obeyed [a]by going out to a place which he was to receive for an inheritance; and he left, not knowing where he was going.” Hebrews 11:8, NASB

Journeys begin with a step. If you want to go forward, you must step forward. When God calls us to move out, He is expecting us to do so by trusting in Him, to have faith in His leading and provision.

All throughout the Bible, those who heard the Lord call them had to respond. Not in fear or trepidation, but in the knowledge that He would be with them each step along the way. If you and I look back and see where we have come from, and His promises fulfilled in our lives thus far, we too can have the courage and strength to trust Him for the next part of our life’s journey.

I look to Abraham (Avraham in Hebrew), King David, the prophets, and Paul as men, and women who joined them, as my example in how to trust the Lord and walk in the calling He has given me. Above all, I keep my eyes on my Lord Jesus, Yeshua HaMashiach.

Do you see what this means—all these pioneers who blazed the way, all these veterans cheering us on? It means we’d better get on with it. Strip down, start running—and never quit! No extra spiritual fat, no parasitic sins. Keep your eyes on Jesus, who both began and finished this race we’re in. Study how he did it. Because he never lost sight of where he was headed—that exhilarating finish in and with God—he could put up with anything along the way: Cross, shame, whatever. And now he’s there, in the place of honor, right alongside God. When you find yourselves flagging in your faith, go over that story again, item by item, that long litany of hostility he plowed through. That will shoot adrenaline into your souls!Hebrews 12:1-3, The Message

It is a faith walk. It must be a walk of faith. Otherwise, anyone could do it. You and I are not anyone.

Because of our Redeemer, Who saved us to have eternal life with Him, we can put our feet on solid ground, and go as the Holy Spirit, Ruach HaKodesh, leads us on. Every step of the way as He guides. Though not easy, it is rewarding and fulfilling as we see His hand, as believers in our God.

You have been called to be a man or woman of faith. Watch those who walk among you who have grown in faith and in courage. Aspire to be like them.

I have. You can too.

Ahava (love) and Shalom (peace),

Steve Martin

"You Are Not Abnormal" - Message by Steve Martin, Love For His People Ministry

AI-generated content may be incorrect.

You Are Not Abnormal

But you are the ones chosen by God, chosen for the high calling of priestly work, chosen to be a holy people, God’s instruments to do his work and speak out for him, to tell others of the night-and-day difference he made for you—from nothing to something, from rejected to accepted.”1 Peter 2:9-10 The Message

There are times when we think we are the only ones experiencing a trial, a bad moment, a situation that no one else has had or has gone through before.

You are not abnormal. We are often in spiritual warfare. Where do you think Satan and his demons always attack first? The marriage. The family. The mission. The Lord’s chosen ones, in Israel and throughout the nations.

The Word tells us, prophetically, that in these last days we will experience trials, tribulations, roadblocks, temptations, and ongoing attempts by our enemy to curtail us from completing the mission set before us. Our enemy is not brilliant, but he is not dumb either. He has had enough experience to know what will keep us from pressing on, if we fall to his schemes.

A well-known prophetic man once said, “There are the three things that will be set before you in temptations. Gold, glory, or girls.” He was right.

(Or as Scripture puts it, in 1 John 2:16, "For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life, is not from the Father, but is from the world."

It is supernaturally natural for those who are seeking to hear and obey the call of the Lord Jesus (Yeshua), as He leads us through His Holy Spirit (Ruach HaKodesh), to be opposed by the one who hates God the Father and all those who are His children, Jew and Gentile. And if he can’t get you in one area, he will use another. Or those close to you, who may be more vulnerable.

Is it no surprise then that we, Laurie and I, have been warned by those abiding in Israel and others who have gone before, to be “prayed up” with intercessors covering our backs, as we go forward into His call and purpose for Israel.

“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might. Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. For our struggle is not against [f]flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.

Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist on the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm.  Stand firm therefore, having belted your waist with truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having strapped on your feet the preparation of the gospel of peace; in addition to all, taking up the shield of faith with which you will be able to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.  And take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

With every prayer and request, pray at all times in the Spirit, and with this in view, be alert with all perseverance and every request for all the saints,” Ephesians 6:10-18, NASB

As you too face opposition in your own daily walk, call upon the Name of the Lord, and as I often say, and you can too, “My times are in Your hands.” Lead us and protect us, Lord.

We can thus press forward and complete the assignments He has given to each of us with faith and courage.

Ahava (love) and Shalom (peace),

Steve Martin

Once Rejected But No More

“I say then, God has not rejected His people, has He?...”Romans 11:1, NASB

All of us have felt rejection at some point in our lives. From the days of school, when some received that report card and one line had the “F” on it. Or the time we worked so hard to make the team, be it sports, an educational achievement, or the next position “up the ladder” on the job and the word came back to us, “Not good enough.”

Rejection carries pain that can linger for a long time, pushing people into dark holes, unhealthy lifestyles, or emotional stress that one cannot just rid away and have it gone.

Jesus (Yeshua) knew rejection. His own people, whom He came to save as the first ones on His list, denied He was their Messiah. They rejected His truth He spoke and demonstrated. They said, “This can’t be the One. He is not giving us rule over our enemies, the Romans.” They did not comprehend in their minds, nor in their hearts, that the Savior of the world was to first come as the Lamb, before returning as the Lion.

Walking among the Jews of Israel, as I have done so many times in their rightful Land, has given me a piece of the Father’s heart for His people, the ones whom He called, chosen, and placed in that Land to be His light to the nations, the Gentiles, the “goyim” as we are known in Hebrew.

And yet, while the nations immediately surrounding them, and throughout the world, continue to seek to steal, kill, and destroy, even as “their father” works through them, the Jews of Israel are seeing the mighty hand of the Living God of Israel, protecting, providing, and enabling them to live. He has brought them back to the land of Israel. He has not rejected them.

Though the world rejects them, the Eternal Father, the Living Savior, and the Holy Spirit (Ruach HaKodesh) are constantly revealing Himself to them. As they further call upon the Lord, He is drawing them to Himself.

Paul says in Romans 11:25-27, that Israel, the Jews, will be saved.

“For I do not want you, brothers and sisters, to be uninformed of this mystery—so that you will not be wise in your own estimation—that a partial hardening has happened to Israel until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in; and so all Israel will be saved; just as it is written:

“The Deliverer will come from Zion, He will remove ungodliness from Jacob.”  “This is My covenant with them, When I take away their sins.” (NASB)

Demonstrating the love of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit draws the chosen ones to Himself. As believers in Yeshua (Jesus), that too is in our hearts that HaShem, Adonai, Elohim has given us. We seek to love the Jews, even as He has loved us.

And so, we shall.

Am Yisrael Chai. “The people of Israel live.”

Ahava (love) and Shalom (peace),
