Political Dirt Is Often Dirtier Than Earthly Rubbish - Israel Today

Political Dirt Is Often Dirtier Than Earthly Rubbish

Wednesday, March 01, 2017 |  Israel Today Staff
What is clearly written in the Bible is either ignored or expressly denied in modern politics. The decision, which was rejected by UNESCO in October, which denies any historical connection to Jerusalem by the people of Israel, and thus relents to Palestinian pressure, confirms the current trend. The resolution passed by the UNSC is absolute madness. There is unquestionable historical and archeological evidence that Jerusalem was the site of the First and Second Jewish Temples.
Towards the end of the 1990s, as the Muslims built a third shrine on the Temple Mount at the site of Solomon’s Stables, they dumped 400 truckloads of debris on the outskirts of Jerusalem.
Archaeologists Prof. Gabriel Barkai and Tzachi Davira have since then, with the help of volunteers, rescued the dumped rubble and have been meticulously sifting through the rubble. Since the beginning of the project, thousands of coins, seals, potsherds and mosaic tiles from the time of the First and Second Temples have been found.
The archaeologists complain that the Israeli governments have not done anything to preserve the Jewish temple site. "How many times have we asked the governments for financial help and not got a cent over the years," both experts said.
We at Israel Today have decided that, if the government does not support the efforts of these two archaeologists, we will help their "Temple Mount Sifting Project".

Jerusalem: The most controversial city in the world - Ron Cantor MESSIAH'S MANDATE

Jerusalem’s Old City is the most controversial piece of real estate in the world. More specifically, the Temple Mount. Recently, the United Nations confirmed the UNESCO decision that the Temple Mount had no connection with historic Israel. Donald Trump has pledged to move the US embassy to Jerusalem, essentially confirming that the US recognizes Jerusalem (and not Tel Aviv) as Israel’s capital. While some countries in the past did have embassies in Jerusalem, they have all now moved to Tel Aviv. These moves were against the desire of the State of Israel. I know of no other country where the international community does not recognize her capital.
But what does God think? God loves Jerusalem. The Psalmist laments in Ps 137:
If I forget you, Jerusalem, may my right hand forget its skill. May my tongue cling to the roof of my mouth if I do not remember you, if I do not consider Jerusalem my highest joy.
But the world hates Jerusalem. We read in Zechariah that God is:
“going to make Jerusalem a cup that sends all the surrounding peoples reeling. Judah will be besieged as well as Jerusalem. On that day, when all the nations of the earth are gathered against her, I will make Jerusalem an immovable rock for all the nations. All who try to move it will injure themselves. (Zech. 12:2-3)
Jerusalem will be a cup that sends the nations reeling. In other words, she will cause the nations to be confused. They will not be able to figure her out or know what to do with her. For instance, the nations will seek to erase her history as we see with UNESCO or take it over, as the UN wanted to do in 1948. And the imagery her is of a hernia, “all that try to move it will injure themselves.” Be careful, UN.
In the past 83 years, Jerusalem has been under the control of five entities. The Turkish, the British, and then the UN had control over her for a very brief time in 1947. They voted for Jerusalem to become an international city controlled by the UN. Shortly after that, the Jordanians seized control during the Israeli War for Independence. And then, in 1967, the Israelis captured Jerusalem when Jordan attacked her during the Six-Day War.
Since that time, she has been in Jewish hands. But the controversy surrounding her has remained and even increased. Now the Palestinians want control over Jerusalem and, more specifically, THE TEMPLE MOUNT. In fact, the Temple Mount is full of vocal and aggressive Hamas activists that harass Jews who want to visit. There truly is no real estate more controversial than Jerusalem’s Old City and the Temple Mount.
Why Jerusalem? It is a dot on the earth. It’s not much bigger than a shopping mall, and yet all the nations are going crazy over it. Why the Temple Mount? Because that is where Yeshua will return. It is from this area that He will rule in the age to come. His throne will be here. There is more warfare over this little piece of land than any other in the world. Nations have fought over it for centuries.
But according to Joseph Farar, the Temple Mount is not even mentioned in the Koran. He says, “Koran says nothing about Jerusalem. It mentions Mecca hundreds of times. It mentions Medina countless times. It never mentions Jerusalem. With good reason. There is no historical evidence to suggest Mohammed ever visited Jerusalem.”
Of course this doesn’t matter to them. What matters to them is that Jews cannot control Jerusalem and they must be dealt with. In Zechariah 12:3 it says that all nations will gather against Jerusalem.
God is not impressed. The UN may claim Jerusalem is not Jewish, but they are mere ants in the eyes of God. They have no authority over Jerusalem. Yes, God used them in 1947—during a momentary lapse in their anti-Semitic judgment—but they have no say over her future.
The closer we get to the coming of Yeshua, the more controversial this piece of real estate will become. In fact, the Bible says all nations will attack her leading up to the final attack on Jerusalem in Zechariah 14. But, as we know, the Lord will come and fight against them as He sets up His millennial kingdom.
Then the Lord will go out and fight against those nations, as he fights on a day of battle. On that day his feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, east of Jerusalem. The Lord will be king over the whole earth. On that day there will be one Lord, and his name the only name. (Zech. 14:3-4a, 9)

Israel vs. The World: It's a Lonely Position

BRIAN SANDERS  CHARISMA NEWS
Standing With Israel
From the headline of this article, you would think it was a bout for the Super Heavyweight Championship of the World, or at least a made-for-TV special the whole planet would be tuning in to see.
On the contrary, it's more like a reality for this small nation comparable in size to New Jersey. From its earliest existence, Israel has constantly had to defend itself in a David-versus-Goliath-type battle for the simple right to exist.
One might think in our 21st-century world, the Jewish state would have been accepted by now, after decades of movements for national determination have swelled the ranks of nations to more than 200.
Welcome to Israel's world.
From the days of Moses to the War of Independence in 1948 to modern-day threats from Iran and Islamist movements to wipe Israel off the map, along with a hate campaign called the BDS (Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions) movement, the headline of this article is all too real for Israel and its supporters.
As if that weren't enough, UNESCO (United Nations Educational Scientific Cultural Organization) recently moved to ignore the reality of Jewish history on the Temple Mount, holy to Jews and Christians around the world. It's almost unthinkable.
It is a place etched in Christian and Jewish history where Abraham offered Isaac up to God for a sacrifice and where Satan tempted Jesus. I know I wasn't the only one shaking my head in disbelief upon hearing it.
As Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared, "That's like saying the pyramids never belonged to the Egyptians and the Great Wall was never China's." I can only imagine the reaction of the religious leaders back in Jesus' day tearing their clothes over the blasphemy they just heard.
Preposterous, one might say. Nevertheless, this is standard practice at UNESCO and other bodies within the United Nations. It's been a common ideology of U.N. councils and committees for some time now concerning the stance toward Israel.
Their actions are truly louder than their words.
As believers in Yeshua (Jesus), we cannot idly sit and be silent. Nor can the United States, Israel's greatest friend, as well as their other allies watch and do nothing. Now more than ever, Israel needs her "friends" to have her back.
Anti-Semitism is being re-birthed and branded in all kinds of forms these days. It's not a matter of what's next but how we can combat it together:
  • If Christians would dismiss and denounce false teaching about replacement theology—the idea that the church has replaced Israel—it would build a closer bond with our Jewish brothers and sisters.
  • Churches can also teach about the significance and importance of how Christians are truly grafted in (Romans 11) to the branch, Israel's Messiah.
  • This can potentially result in a major move of God that could truly benefit the church for blessing the apple of His eye. Nations, people and advocates would be blessed according to Genesis 12:3.
God's covenant with Israel is eternal, non-debatable and certainly unconditional. As believers, who wouldn't want to stand with that?

UN Confirms Denial of Jewish Connection to Temple Mount - Israel Today

UN Confirms Denial of Jewish Connection to Temple Mount

Wednesday, October 26, 2016 |  Israel Today Staff
The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) on Wednesday officially passed its resolution denying any Jewish connection to Jerusalem and its holy sites, including the Temple Mount.
The document demands that Israel cease what it calls the “intentional destruction” of Jerusalem’s holy sites, all of which the UN refers to solely by their Islamic names.
The acts of “destruction” referred to by the resolution are in fact archeological excavations being carried out adjacent to the Temple Mount, excavations that have uncovered a wealth of evidence confirming the long historical connection between the site and the Jewish people.
Israeli Ambassador to the UN Danny Danon slammed the decision, stating:
“UNESCO embarrassed itself by marching to the tune of the Palestinian pipers. All attempts to deny our heritage, distort history and disconnect the Jewish people from our capital and our homeland are doomed to fail.”
Archeologist Dr. Gabriel Barkay, who heads one of the aforementioned excavations, said the resolution was an “insult” to anyone with any intelligence.
“Jesus and the Temple Mount are referred to in the New Testament over 20 times,” Dr. Barkay noted at a Jerusalem press conference. “Jesus went there prior to his crucifixion and overturned a table from money-changers and prophesied about the Temple Mount. So he who tries to jeopardize the Jewish connection to the Temple Mount actually undermines Christianity, because it is based on Jesus and his connection to the Temple Mount.”
On Tuesday, a group of US senators and congressmen strongly urged other UNESCO member states to reject the resolution, noting that “attempting to erase the Jewish and Christian connection to this sacred city will further damage the prospects of peace.”
But the Palestinian delegation to the world body threatened in a letter to the other UNESCO delegates that failure to vote in favor of the resolution would result in the Arabs being “obliged to consider other options.”
The measure ultimately passed by a margin of 10 to 2, with 8 abstentions

Israel, Trump, Clinton Slam UN Over Temple Mount Resolution - Israel Today

Israel, Trump, Clinton Slam UN Over Temple Mount Resolution

Friday, October 14, 2016 |  Israel Today Staff
The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organizations (UNESCO) on Thursday passed a resolution ignoring (some say denying) the Jewish connection to Jerusalem’s Temple Mount, which it referred to only as the Al-Haram Al Sharif (the Noble Sanctuary), the name imposed on the sacred plateau after its conquest by Muslims in the 7th century CE.
That Israel and the Jewish people have a documented history at the site going back thousands of years before that was not at all acknowledged.
The resolution drew angry responses from Israel, the American government and both US presidential candidates, Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton.
“To say that Israel has no connection to the Temple Mount and the Western Wall is like saying that China has no connection to the Great Wall of China or that Egypt has no connection to the pyramids,” said Prime Minister Benjamin Netnayahu. “By this absurd decision, UNESCO has lost what little legitimacy it had left.”
Netanyahu said that those who refuse to take seriously the Bible and the mountains of archeological evidence uncovered by Israeli archeologists need only visit the Arch of Titus in Rome.
“On it one can see what the Romans brought back to Rome after they destroyed and looted the Second Temple on the Temple Mount 2,000 years ago. There, engraved on the Arch of Titus, is the seven-branched menorah that is the symbol of the Jewish People, and I remind you, is also the symbol of the Jewish state today,” the prime minister pointed out.
With Israel being such an important election issue in the US, Republican candidate Donald Trump also weighed in personally, calling the UNESCO decision “further evidence of the enormous anti-Israel bias of the UN.”
Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton did not respond personally, but her foreign policy adviser, Laura Rosenberer, told reporters, “It’s outrageous that UNESCO would deny the deep, historic connection between Judaism and the Temple Mount.”
The Palestinian Authority, which submitted the resolution, was naturally pleased by the vote. “Our peaceful agenda will not be derailed by propaganda, nor will our tolerance and adherence to international law be altered by fallacies and cynical spin,” read a PA Foreign Ministry statement.
A number of Israeli officials warned that by adopting the hostile narrative of the Palestinian leadership, the international community was actually making peace in the region less achievable.
For most Israelis, the major sticking point of the peace process is the Arabs’ refusal to accept that the Jewish people have a history, and therefore a legitimate claim, in this region.

UN Resolution: Akin to the Holocaust Denial? - SHAWN A. AKERS CHARISMA NEWS

UN Resolution: Akin to the Holocaust Denial?

Is the Temple Mount in Jerusalem even Jewish? It may sound like an absurd question to some, but it's an issue the United Nations' Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization intends to settle with a vote during its 40th annual meeting in Istanbul, Turkey over the next week.
Considered by Jews as the holiest place in their religion, the Temple Mount is the site of two ancient Jewish temples built by King David. However, it is overseen today by Arabs who are looking to sever any Jewish claim to it and who desire to continue their quest to delegitimize the state of Israel.
The resolution, as reported by israelhayom.com, calls for a return to the "historic status quo" for the Temple Mount. The meeting in Turkey began Sunday and will run through July 20.
Non-Muslims are allowed to visit the site during restricted hours and under careful monitoring, but they are not allowed to pray during that time. Breakingisraelnews.com reports that "Arabs claim that Israel is attempting to change the status quo following an increase in the number of Jewish visitors to the Temple Mount. Breakingnewsisrael.com's report says, "the United Nations document repeatedly refers to Israel as the 'occupying power' and accuses it of causing damage to the site, carrying out illegal excavations and preventing the Jordanian Waqf, which has jurisdiction over the Temple Mount, from making repairs and renovations."
In April in Paris, UNESCO adopted a resolution that ignores Jewish ties to the Temple Mount and the Western Wall area in Jerusalem's Old City. The Jerusalem Postreported in April that UNESCO referred to the Temple solely as al-Aska Mosque/al-Haram al Sharif and the Western Wall as al-Buraq Plaza.
Israeli Foreign Ministry Director General Donald Gore sent a scathing letter to the head of UNESCO recently demanding it to reject the "deliberate one-sided resolution," israelhayom.com reported.
"Today, it is Israel that defends religious freedom for all of the great faiths—Judaism, Christanity and Islam—against the intolerance sweeping the Middle East region," Gore said in the letter. "(The resolution) is full of distortions and is totally disconnected from reality on the ground. We urge you to oppose this effort to distort history, that will offend the members of the Jewish and Christians faiths and undermine the credibility of UNESCO in the future."

The Fundamental Flaw in the Two-State Solution - Tsvi Sadan ISRAEL TODAY

The Fundamental Flaw in the Two-State Solution

Thursday, April 28, 2016 |  Tsvi Sadan  ISRAEL TODAY
The Executive Board of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has adopted a document concerning "occupied Palestine." It was drafted by Algeria, Egypt, Lebanon, Morocco, Oman, Qatar and Sudan.
UNESCO's anti-Israel bias is so severe that Jerusalem does not grant visas to representatives of this organization. This latest document is further evidence of why, as it "deeply regrets," "deeply deplores" and "strongly condemns" the "Occupying Power" exercising sovereignty over the Temple Mount and the Old City of Jerusalem.
To justify such a misnomer as Israel's "occupation" of the Temple Mount, UNESCO has adopted the Muslim narrative that systematically erases any piece of evidence proving the Jewish bond to the Temple Mount and to the Land of Israel as a whole.
In fact, throughout the document, the "Temple Mount" is not mentioned once. As if the Jewish name for this holy place were mere fiction, the document refers to it only as "Al-Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram Al-Sharif." Even the Western Wall has been made a victim of UNESCO's revisionism and called only by its Muslim name, "Al-Buraq Plaza."
Concealing the fact that the Jewish Temple existed for hundreds of years in Jerusalem goes far beyond the demand to create a Palestinian state in the "occupied territories." Indeed, it goes without saying that if the holiest Jewish site is under "occupation," then Israel is nothing but a colonial power, and not only in Jerusalem, but in the whole of the Holy Land.
If the Temple Mount is not a Jewish site, how could one say that Jews have the right to live in places like Tel Aviv, which only loosely, if at all, have Jewish religious significance? It follows that if Israel occupies the Temple Mount, it also occupies Tel Aviv.
The recent apology by British Labor MP Maz Shah for his 2014 tweet suggesting that Israeli Jews be transferred to America is but the latest example of how this line of reasoning brings millions to the conclusion that Israel is at best a non-sustainable Western colony.
Therefore, the two-state solution can only be a half-house, a temporary solution leading to the final one in which Israel ceases to exist.
The danger in validating the Muslim/Palestinian narrative has been clear ever since Israel gained control over the Temple Mount in 1967.
One of Israel's most respected poets and columnists, Nathan Alterman, in 1970 harshly criticized Labor Party members for beginning to sympathize with the idea of a "Palestinian people." Alterman astutely observed:
"By adopting this factitious notion we are turning the beehive over our right to exist in this land… At the moment we accept the national Palestinian fiction, from that moment Zionism as a whole becomes a matter of robbing a country from the hands of an existing people, and to the extent that we help root this idea in the world and in our own innerconsciousness, we are shaking the historical and human foundation of Zionism, thus placing it only on our bayonets.
"…If indeed we acknowledge the existence of a Palestinian Arab nation, then not only the 'occupied territories' are Arab territories upon which we shed our blood until the inevitable withdrawal, but also the state of Israel is an Arab territory… If there is an Arab nation who is fighting for its country, then our protests lose their meaning. International law and morality deem terror illegal as long as we say it is a tool in the hands of the Arab countries against us. But from the moment it becomes the weapon of the Palestinian people … who are fighting for their national existence, none of the pejoratives in which we describe their bloody actions would help us."
Israel rightly condemns UNESCO's attempt to erase the Jewish (biblical) history of the Temple mount. This protest, however, rings hollow when, in the name of realpolitik, Israel itself severely restricts the Jewish presence on the Mount and openly commits itself to the two-state solution.
Israel's readiness to hand over the Temple Mount to the Palestinians is seen by the world as evidence of a state that places no value in its own historical heritage, and therefore has little right to exist.
It is time for Israelis to realize that by demoting the Temple Mount to a piece of real estate, they are bolstering UNESCO's efforts to prove that Israel is a colonial power that has no right to exist in the Promised Land.
