Franklin Graham Decision America Tour - How Long Will We Have Religious Freedom?

Decision America Tour
“What will our religious freedoms be in a few years?”

Dear Friend,

I’m getting ready to head to Concord, N.H., for our fourth Decision America Tour prayer rally. I know it may be bitter cold—but it will be worth it to stand in prayer for our nation. If you live in that area, I hope you will join me for the event. If not, please pray that believers there will be emboldened to be salt and light.

Last Tuesday, I stood before 3,500 people in front of Florida’s Historic Capitol for Tallahassee’s prayer rally. I was moved by their great concern for America and by their burden to see our nation turn to God.

That same day, in buildings not far away from us, several legislators introduced the Pastor Protection Act in the Florida House and Senate as a measure to protect pastors and churches in that state from government sanctions if they refuse to serve weddings that violate their beliefs. If we don't all begin taking a stand for biblical truth and morality, where will our religious freedoms be in a few years?

Youth PrayingNearly 450 miles away—and 24 hours later—a crowd of 4,200 people joined us in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, next to the Old State Capitol, to pray for our nation. There were many children and youth in the crowd—and they are one of the primary reasons why I’m doing this. Unless God heals our land, what kind of country will our children and grandchildren inherit?

Thank you for your prayers and support.

Sincerely,

Franklin Graham
Franklin Graham

P.S. Many churches in the first three cities brought vans and buses to the prayer rallies, and I encourage you to do the same. Check out the tour schedule at DecisionAmericaTour.com.

Is Israel a Nation or a Person? | Brian Hennessy ISRAEL TODAY

YM DEC.15

Is Israel a Nation or a Person?

Sunday, November 29, 2015 |  Brian Hennessy  ISRAEL TODAY
Most Bible believers can tell you Israel is both the name of a person and a nation. But what most don’t realize is that the term ‘Israel’ can refer to seven different entities in the Bible! And if we don’t know which ‘Israel’ is in play we’ll become hopelessly confused. Throw in the state of Israel today and it gets even more complicated. So let me try and sort them out as best I can.
In general, the seven ‘Israels’ found in the Bible will always fall into one of three categories: a person, a nation, or part of a nation.
As a person, Israel would be Jacob, the father of the twelve tribes that eventually became the nation that bore his name. God had changed his name from Jacob to Israel, which loosely means “he who prevails with God and overcomes,” after he survived a wrestling match with the Angel of the Lord (Gen. 35:10). However, Israel as a person can also be Yeshua, for he is the “seed” who inherits all the promises (Gal. 3:16).
As a nation, Israel would be the whole nation of twelve tribes.
But where it gets tricky is when Israel stands for just part of the nation, because there are four ways to understand a partial Israel.
First, it could be the name of the ten-tribe kingdom that formed after Solomon’s united nation split into the two kingdoms of Israel in the north and Judah in the south.
Secondly, it could be referring to the two-tribe southern kingdom of Judah which took sole possession of the title after the northern kingdom was exiled among the nations. The descendants of Judah became known as “the Jews” after they were deported to Babylon. When they returned to the land they became the Israel we encounter in the New Testament. It is mostly their descendants who’ve returned again to establish today’s Jewish state.
Thirdly, ‘Israel in part’ can be understood as the Israel within Israel. This Israel represents just the chosen descendants (like Jacob), who Paul distinguished in Romans 9 from those physical offspring who were not chosen (like Esau).
Finally, Paul calls the body of Messiah “the Israel of God” (Gal. 6:16), which shows the ecclesia is the continuation of chosen Israel, but now under the New Covenant. This verse, along with Revelation 7:4, are the only two times in the NT (out of 79 references to Israel) where the followers of Yeshua are clearly addressed as Israel. I think the reason God kept references to the ecclesia being Israel to a minimum was He didn’t want us to think we had replaced the Jewish nation. Which, as we know, the institutional church tried to do anyway.
The fact is, the Jews retained sole possession to the title ‘Israel’ even though they rejected Yeshua as Messiah. Didn’t Paul tell us “a partial hardening has happened to Israel [meaning the Jewish people], until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in?” (Rom. 11:25). However, in the next sentence he informs us that when all the “Gentiles” come in, that “all Israel will be saved.” Here the name “Israel’ has been expanded to mean the whole nation – not just the Jews!
I believe there is a day coming, and coming soon, when all the confusion over who or what is Israel will suddenly disappear. The whole world will see the Israel of God revealed in glory as both one nation and one person in Messiah!

'40 More Days and the Nation Will Be Destroyed'

'40 More Days and the Nation Will Be Destroyed'

Here's the Deal, by Matt Barber

Use your sanctified imagination to envision the following make-believe scenario.
Joel Osteen, Andy Stanley, Joyce Meyer, Ed Young Jr., Dave Ramsey, James Robison, Ken Copeland, Pat Robertson, Matt Crouch and other high-profile Christian leaders all begin their programs with an agreed-upon in-advance, sober warning to their collective millions of listeners.
"The following message is completely uncharacteristic of our normal broadcast. But we are not living in normal times. We can't keep pretending God's judgments aren't real. What's happening currently can't be dismissed as coincidental but providential. We have come to the conclusion that God has directed leaders across this nation to simply communicate eight words: '40 more days and America will be destroyed.' That's what He instructed us to say. But there still is hope if we believe that God will have mercy on us if we humbly turn back to Him and the ways of our Founding Fathers."
"Larry, that's unrealistic and too far fetched!"
Do you know that the greatest awakening in world history took place when an obedient servant of God echoed those exact words in a different location? The leader and the people were so shaken by the severity of the message that they turned from their sinful ways and returned to God.
"When God saw their actions, that they turned from their evil ways, He changed His mind about the disaster that He had said He would bring upon them, and He did not do it" (Jonah 3:10).
Read the entire account of this amazing, historical event in Jonah 3:3–10.
What Will It Take to Awaken Us?
On an individual basis, scores of people say their conversion took place after a series of events jolted them to humble themselves and turn to God. Should we not expect something similar needful for a nation at large?
"Hungry and thirsty, their soul fainted in them. Then they cried unto the Lord in their trouble, and He delivered them out of their distresses" (Ps. 107:5-6).
An amalgam of unexpected, swift events exploding in tandem with each other would certainly get the attention of millions in America. The following are real and within the realm of possibility very shortly: devastating economic collapse; horrific drought, gas and food shortages; Middle East war; a series of coordinated Islamic terrorist attacks; outbreak of new AIDS-like virus; racial riots erupting nationwide; multiple massive earthquakes, EMP (Electromagnetic Pulse) Internet-crippling attack; assassinations and political chaos.
David Stockman, Ronald Reagan's former Budget Director, says of the economy, "All hell is about to break loose!"
ISIS just released a statement, as reported in Charisma News, that they have over 70 trained terrorists in 15 U.S. states now.
To picture what it could be like when some of these events explode on the scene, picture a segment from the film "Mad Max" or the TV show "Walking Dead." [I don't watch these but have seen pictures from them.] Or visualize a city like those in the Ukraine—once-thriving cities now lawless centers of desperate people who've become marauders and looters carrying out criminal acts with impunity.
Our parent's generation exhibited patience, sacrifice, discipline and civility in difficult times. Being realistic (recall Ferguson or Baltimore recently?) and not dismissing all of this as nonsensical conspiracy theories, do we really expect people in a crisis today to let others go ahead of them in lines and folks patiently serve one another amid shortages, curfews and roving vigilantes?
God hasn't given us a spirit of fear, but it might wake people up to pause and ponder some of these coming realities. Just read afresh what Jesus said would be taking place prior to His Return.
How Should We Then Live?
In the '60s, theologian and prophet Francis Schaeffer posed this question to Christians. Analyzing events in history and foretelling what was coming to our nation, he warned us of this implosion while calling us to engage our culture and beseech God for divine intervention.
Christians can no longer settle for "status quo" religion with neatly packaged, sanitized, inspirational programs and services while ignoring the epidemic of Christians being persecuted and Western civilization crumbling. In England, the former Archbishop of Canterbury said, "Christianity is facing extinction in Great Britain."
We are currently engaged in a titanic, unprecedented struggle with forces of evil and must categorically reject wishful thinking that this is simply temporary, cyclical or manageable. We are at a tipping point where either we experience a divine intervention of God in a Third Great Awakening or we will witness the fulfillment of A.W. Tozer's prophetic warning: "Historians will conclude that we of the 20th century had the genius to create a great civilization but we lacked the moral wisdom to preserve it."
One Word Captures Our Charge
In Matthew 24 and Mark 13, Jesus told us the signs of the end of the age. He basically summed everything up with these words, "He who perseveres till the end will be saved. " (Mt.24:13; Mk.13:13). And in Romans 5:3 God tells us, "...suffering produces perseverance."
There simply are no shortcuts in difficult days. We must draw upon the grace of God and make a quality decision that we will persevere.
Presently I'm reading a book called The Churchill Factor - How One Man Made History. This biography of the towering figure of the 20th century who saved Western civilization from extinction demonstrated one overarching quality: perseverance.
When his fellow countrymen and Cabinet were capitulating to Hitler and his war machine, Winston Churchill told them to persevere, to fight and not to negotiate. "If this long island story of ours is to end at last, let it end only when each one of us lies choking in his own blood upon the ground!" With this almost Shakespearean climax, he rallied them to press on till victory was theirs.
Days ago I spent some time with my wife in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, called the "Secret City" during World War II. Here 75,000 citizens worked tirelessly to develop the atomic bomb to ultimately defeat Japan and bring about their surrender. These patriots, alongside of our servicemen and women who gave their lives on battlefields, and the D-Day invasion persevered to secure our freedom.
During these turbulent times, if you need a fresh read to bolster your perseverance, let me suggest a book called Staying Power by my year friend of 33 years, Ken Roberts (kenlroberts.com).
Ken faced incredible adversity when his wife of 25 years was killed in a car accident, a church building project and pastoral team imploded and he resigned his ministry in a mudslide of despair.
Yet Ken Roberts drew upon the grace of God and discovered lessons to sustainability. He persevered and today has new life, a new wife and a new ministry impacting multitudes. I highly suggest readers check it out.
As we await the Supreme Court ruling that may tip the scales in a way that may accelerate judgment on our land, may perseverance be our watchword.
Remember the words of the prophet Jeremiah, "If you have raced with men on foot and they have worn you out, how can you compete with horses? If you stumble in safe country, how will you manage in the thickets by the Jordan?" (Jer. 12:5).

Dutch Sheets: God Is Not Done With America

A demonic tide of destruction has been unleashed upon our nation, and is taking ground at an increasingly rapid rate. Politically, economically and humanistically, there is an agenda to make this nation never again look the way it has looked before. Yet, God has not given up on America! He has great a plan and a purpose for this nation and He is calling on us to partner with His heart and His strategy in this critical hour.
Discouraged Hearts, Defeated Plans
The book of Ezra paints a picture of where we are today, as well as God's desire to awaken, revive and restore a nation whose God is the Lord. The Israelites began rebuilding the temple after it had been destroyed because of their sin. While they were hard at work, the people of the land—the enemies of God—discouraged the people of Judah, causing them to be filled with a paralyzing fear.
Counselors were also hired to work against the people of God, and frustrate their strategy. This resulted in a 16-year delay in the rebuilding of the temple—the place, in that day, where God's presence and glory dwelled.
In many ways, America currently finds herself in this sort of delay. After making great advances in kingdom building, many have let discouragement and fear gain a foothold in their hearts. They've laid down their tools and folded their hands. Others are busy with good kingdom works, but don't dare challenge the status quo, much less, the systems aimed at shredding the moral fabric of our nation, destroying the institution of the family and stripping us of our religious freedoms.
As in the days of Ezra, "wicked counselors," known today as lobbyists, are diligently and strategically opposing God's people to advance the antichrist agenda in every sector of society. This is a fulfillment of the first few verses of Psalms 2, which describe those who hate God and take counsel together, devising plans to contend against Him and His people. These counselors think they've overthrown God's rule and conquered His people and, in their arrogance, openly decree this.
Notwithstanding, Psalm 2 describes several terrifying things God does in response. First, He laughs a mocking laugh of derision toward them. Then, He asserts that His Son will rule the earth. Lastly, God takes His rod and begins to break and shatter kingdoms in order to reestablish His reign in the earth. The good news is clearly laid out here—in the end, we win!
Fellow warriors, we cannot fear that if we resist the government and the political activists, we might be taken out. Neither can we fear that we might go to jail, lose our government funding or tax-exempt status, or have our business shut down for speaking the truth or refusing to marry same-sex couples. Yes, these things are already happening—some are already paying a high price to stand for righteousness—but we cannot cower and live in a paralyzing fear. We must only move in the fear of the Lord.
Repentance and Restoration
The account from Ezra that I've told thus far is only half the story. After a 16-year delay, upon seeing the hunger and desperation of the people, God raised up a company of leaders who worked together to steer His people toward repentance and the restoration of the temple.
First, God raised up two prophets, Haggai and Zechariah, to boldly awaken the people to their true condition, and to His desire for them. The moment God's people responded in repentance, God began to work in their behalf. He frustrated the plans of the lobbyists and gave the people of Judah favor with the politicians. Everything they needed for the restoration of the temple was provided.
The most amazing part of the story, in my opinion, is how God's spokesmen (the prophets Haggai and Zechariah), God's government (Joshua the priest) and civil government (Zerubbabel the governor) came together to lead the people into reformation. In response to their obedience and righteous partnership, the Lord blessed them by decreeing that the glory of the latter house would be greater than the former.
Zechariah later prophesied to Zerubbabel saying, this mountain in front of you is going to be brought low and become a plain. Not by might or power but by my Spirit, you will tear it down with shouts of grace, grace! This is a picture of what God wants to do in America!
If the church wakes up from her slumber, heeds the voice of the prophets and begins to partner with righteous government leaders to take her stand, the Lord will make a way for our nation's biblical foundations to be restored. His glory will fill our land once again. God's desire is that you would contend for and see revival in your city and nation!
Church, we cannot become so busy making money and building our own houses, that we lay aside the often painful and sacrificial work restoration required for God's kingdom to come and His will to be done in America.
It is OK to grieve, like Jeremiah or Nehemiah, over the condition of our nation, but we must not give in to discouragement and fear. God is calling forth an army of faithful followers who will come up out of their discouragement to boldly push back the darkness.
Many leaders in government, health, education and ministry are having to make a decision right now—am I going to make my stand or am I going to compromise and yield to the enemy's plans? I, for one, say what America's founding fathers said upon signing the Declaration of Independence and, thereby, committing an act of treason against the crown: I pledge my life, my fortune, my sacred honor—everything to stop this insidious plan of hell. Will you join me?

Israel: The World's Most 'Christian' Nation

Israel: The World's Most 'Christian' Nation

Wednesday, November 20, 2013 |  Israel Today Staff
The most well-known, and perhaps even the most important of the teachings of Yeshua (Jesus), is to “love your neighbor as yourself” (Matthew 22:39).
There are plenty of countries whose governments and citizens adhere to the Judeo-Christian ethos of helping others. But, as Yeshua taught, “If you love [only] those who love you, what reward do you get?” (Matthew 5:46).
The real test is loving those who hate you, not only in word, but also in deed.
Israel Today recently visited Rambam Hospital in Haifa where that very precept is being obeyed. Outside of the international spotlight, wounded Syrians are being treated without hesitation or discrimination.
The rest of this story can be read in the December 2013 issue of Israel Today Magazine.

Ahava Love Letter (#51) - "40 years ago..."

“They were all filled with the Ruach HaKodesh
and began to talk in different languages,
as the Spirit enabled them to speak."
(Acts 2:4 Complete Jewish Bible)

Dear family of friends,

When Terri Smith asked me to go to the meeting, that April in 1973, I thought, "OK. I am curious."

It was our senior year at Columbus High School in Waterloo, Iowa. I was looking forward to graduation a month later, with the other 108 classmates. Our last varsity spring baseball season would also be finished in June. (In case you were wondering - we didn't make it back to the baseball state finals, as we did my junior year.)

I really appreciated our small Catholic school, except when we got beat up, playing the three large public schools of East, West and Central Waterloo in football. Even my home town Cedar Falls High School always ran the score up on us. Sailor power only went so far. But we did triumph in basketball, track and field, and baseball of course.

Maybe something would happen at this prayer meeting that would last beyond high school.

It was somewhat known by a few in school that the Catholic Church had gotten involved in the Charismatic Movement back in '67, but I wasn't too much aware of it. My Mom had been going to some prayer meetings for some time. I was enjoying high school. (And in a good way.)

In His preparatory way, the weekend TEC (Teens Encounter Christ) event that I had gone on, for seniors back in November, had triggered something in my spirit. So I wanted to see what else would happen.

It was a small group who had gathered in Terri's house. Maybe five or six total. If I remember right (again, it was 40 years ago) someone talked and then several prayed. Over us. With hands on our heads. Praying in a different language, other than English or Spanish. They were quietly asking the Father to baptize us with His Holy Spirit, to "fill us", with "tongues” following.

And thus He came. Ruach HaKodesh. The Holy Spirit. And so did the evidence of speaking in tongues. For me. For the others there.

As these decades have passed, I have been continually aware of His presence, the Third Person in the Holy Trinity. He is The Comforter. He is the One who whispers to us, directing and imparting, if our internal ears and eternal spirit are open to listening and obeying.

Time spent in intercession, speaking in my prayer language, has increased immensely over these years. He uses my tongue to intercede for my beloved family and friends, for the office staff, for our  falling nation, and especially for the Jewish people of Israel.

Have you received the Baptism of the Holy Spirit? You can. And then you get to pray in tongues, the first gift He'll give you to use in power for daily victory.

And yes...there is something about the #40. This year I certainly am finding that out.

Ahava to my family of friends,

Steve Martin
