Iwas lying down, just resting and suddenly I had vision or a dream or maybe drevision. I was walking along Israel’s main highway between Jerusalem and Tel Aviv with someone whom I did not know. He told me that the newest lane, the outside lane—actually the shoulder—would soon fall into the ground because of sinkholes or erosion of the land. I was walking as far outside as one could get while still being on the shoulder. I felt a pull, like a magnetic force, pulling me off the road and into the brown grass.
Then I realized it was a vision.
Interpretation
The road is our life. The area off the road—dead grass—is sin, temptation, addiction, etc. If the road was going to fall into the ground on the side, why was I walking there? I should, at least, have moved to the other side of my companion, if not hugged the center of the highway.
The warning and encouragement is to not walk too close to the flame, lest you get burned. Or as Solomon rhetorically asked, “Can a man scoop fire into his lap without burning his clothes?” (Prov. 6:27) The words the Lord spoke to Cain come to mind:
“If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must rule over it.” (Gen. 4:7)
The key to ruling over sin is not merely resisting. Notice I said merely. Yes, resisting sin is part of it. James does tell us to resist the devil and he will flee. (James 4:7) (Ironically the same chapter and verse as the Genesis passage.) However, resisting is not enough.
In His Presence
If sin is represented by the area off the road, then the opposite of sin must be in the center of the road. Yeshua lives in the center. His presence is in the center. The key to overcoming sin or “ruling over” sin is spending time with Yeshua. There is no sin in His presence. There is life, love, forgiveness, joy unspeakable and a peace that passes all understanding. It is hard to give into temptation, much less sin, when we are in His presence.
I once remarked to a repentance preacher, “Holiness is not the absence of sin, but the presence of God.” The key to overcoming lust is not found in human effort, but in our desire for God. When we are hungry for God, we will not be hungry for sin.
How ‘Bout Them Apples
I remember when I started eating healthy. For snacks, instead of cake or a candy bar, I was told to eat an apple. I rarely ate fruit. I didn’t want an apple. But amazingly, after a few days of eating apples, I began to crave apples. In the same way, if you give yourself to seeking God, hungering after Him, you will find your appetite for sin decreases and your need for His presence increases.
Angels
And when we overcome sin, we can expect His presence. Many have taught about how Yeshua overcame temptation in Matthew 4—three times Yeshua fights off the enemy—but I have rarely heard anyone comment on what happened next. After He resists the enemy, something special takes place: “Then the devil left him, and angels came and attended him.” (Matt. 4:11)
When we overcome sin, we can expect angels to come and minister to us. You can be sure of this: God loves you and wants to help you in your struggle. It starts with strengthening that relationship with Him. Build up a hunger for healthy God and don’t give in to destructive sin. And though you can’t see them, angels are ministering to you.
We have to stop walking so close to the edge and get closer to Yeshua. When someone asks, “What is the least I can do and still get into heaven,” they are missing the point. That is like having 50-yardline seats at the Super Bowl, but hiding in the bathroom. Yes, you are there, but you are missing the best part. God is fun. God is joy. God is victory and life and love.
In the World, not Of the World
“But if I separate myself from the world to be with Yeshua, what good will I be?” Good question. Walking far from the edge doesn’t mean that we don’t have contact with sinners. Hello. Look at Yeshua. He walked so close to the Father—to the point that He said that He could only do what He sees His Father doing (Jn. 5:19)—and yet, He spent His time with prostitutes and tax collectors.
You can walk far from the edge and yet be right in the midst of those who need Yeshua. In fact, that is where we are to live. Just as Yeshua intimated—we are to be in the world, but not of the world.
“I have given them Your word, and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. I do not ask that You take them out of the world, but that You keep them from the evil one. They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world.” (John 17:14-16)

Recently, the Lord gave me a very detailed prophetic dream. In the beginning of the dream, my wife and I opened and walked through a door that led to an extremely long hallway. As we proceeded to walk down the hall, we were walking side-by-side. As we continued down the hallway, you could feel the pressure increase and it felt like something was pressing down on us, but only slightly. As our journey continued, we noticed that on the right of us, there was a door with a man standing beside it. He spoke to us, and we just acknowledged him by nodding our heads but kept walking. Then we looked to the left of us and there was another door with a gentleman standing beside it. He spoke to us as well, but we just nodded at him and kept walking.
As we continued down the hallway, about every 10 to 12 feet there would be a door on the right and then 10 to 12 feet further there would be a door to the left. Each door always had a doorman. The unique thing is every single door looked completely different and each doorman was different as well. Some of the men were tall and some were short. Some were dressed in nice suits or tuxedos. Some of the men were in casual clothing, while others looked like they were going to the beach. Each door and each doorman was completely different.
As we passed them, each of the doorman spoke to us, trying to draw our attention to the door. We passed numerous doors, and the hallway seemed to get narrower. I put my arm around my wife and pulled her closer. While we continued down the hallway, you could feel the pressure through the hallway getting more and more intense. At this point, I looked to the very end of the hallway and there was one door straight ahead that did not have a doorman. We were going to pass about 10 more doors on the right and about 10 on the left before we would reach the door at the end. I could sense that the Lord was beckoning and calling us to continue moving forward until we reached the door at the very end. As we started to pursue the door at the end, the doorman to the right and to the left became more persuasive and more aggressive. I knew in the dream that they wanted us to be distracted and acknowledge their doors. However, I knew we were not supposed to look to the left or to the right to entertain the doors beside us. I knew we were to remain focused on the door straight ahead.
We finally arrived at the end of the hallway at the door with no doorman. We knocked gently a few times and the door opened by itself. We passed through the open door and then noticed there were five steps. My wife and I, hand-in-hand, started walking up the steps and as we proceeded forward we walked up on a beautiful open area. All of a sudden a lot of people started walking towards us. The only way I know how to describe the people is that they were genuine, authentic and real. They were celebrating with us about our arrival through the only door in the hallway that had no doorman. They gathered around us and each of them were giving us words of affirmation and declaring life over us. They were speaking to us about how thankful they were that we had made the journey and congratulated us for never looking to the right or to the left. They were congratulating us on joining them.
After this dream it was apparent to me that every door to the right or the left of the hallway represented doors of opportunity. Some were good doors, and others were bad doors. I sensed that some of the doors were full of manipulation. Some doors were wrong paths, and some were good business ventures or ideas. The one thing these doors had in common was that each of them were opened by man. These doors may have been offered with good intentions or bad intentions. They could have led to good ideas or bad ideas, but all them had worldly wisdom behind them. The door that we walked through was a door that had no doorman. The door we were meant to walk through was the door that only God could open for us. God wants to open doors for you that only He can open. The different doors and different types of doormen were trying to persuade us to look their way and walk through their door but the voice of God Almighty was calling us to walk down the hallway through the door that He had for us. We cannot be persuaded by the appearance of any opportunity but instead we must remain faithful to listen to the voice of God. We came out of the hallway and into an open area filled with genuine, authentic people. This represented the transition out of the man-made systems and opportunities into the kingdom of God.
The Lord showed me in this dream that the body of Christ must focus in on the door that God has called us to walk through. In order to hit your mark and enter into the season that God has for you, you must not look to the right of to the left. The door that God has for you will open wide, and you will find yourself in a beautiful place filled with genuine, kingdom people. My friends, listen to the voice of God and walk through the doors that He has appointed for you in this time and in this season.

I was awakened from a series of dreams in which the Lord revealed to me that there has been an increased assault on the body of Christ in this moment. I recognize that the devil is always accusing, attacking and trying to create havoc, but there was something of significance about this particular warning.
In one of the dreams there was a strong attack of witchcraft that was creating confusion. In this dream, I was being pummeled with verbal attacks, and the more they were released, the more challenge that I had completing basic tasks. The Lord showed me that this is indeed a manifestation of witchcraft, the release of word curses and the resulting confusion. There are people right now who have been having intense mind battles as a result of the deluge of word curses.
The Lord told me to issue a warning to His Bride that we need to stay alert in the Spirit. He is releasing a call to prayer. It is time for the intercessors to man their battle stations and turn back the tide of this demonic wave.
"Pray in the Spirit always with all kinds of prayer and supplication. To that end be alert with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints" (Eph. 6:18).
As the series of dreams continued, I saw the enemy trying to resurrect old wounds and use old strategies in a new way. Be on the alert for this occurrence in your own life. If you are suddenly hit with something you have previously overcome, know that it is a tactic of Satan. This wave of attacks is trying to revive yokes that have already been broken, but the enemy is bringing them about in a seemingly new and different way.
I was dressed to preach in one of the dreams and mud got on my clothes. Mud can be symbolic of accusations. The Lord said this to me, "The enemy is trying to shred your identity and soil your garment." This is not just for me it is for the body. The weight of these attacks is coming directly against the assignment on your life and what you are called to do. In my dream, the enemy began speaking against what I was wearing. He was trying to intimidate me into letting go of my authentic identity. I was also waiting on a ride to preach, and it was delayed. This spirit tries to delay and abort assignments.
When I awoke in the middle of these dreams, the Lord said to me, "Get up and intercede for the body of Christ." He said, "I am showing these things to you in order to expose the tactics of the enemy and to call my people to prayer. Prayer will break these attacks." I checked my phone and saw that one of my spiritual daughters had sent me a word about the downpour and the rain of the Spirit. It shot off in my spirit. I felt the Lord telling me to put out a prayer alert. He said to tell the intercessors to call forth a torrent of glory!
The word torrent means "a tumultuous outpouring, a sudden, violent, and copious outpouring, or a rushing, violent, or abundant and unceasing stream of anything, or a violent downpour of rain, a violent, tumultuous, or overwhelming flow." This is a vivid picture of God's defense strategy. We need a massive and violent downpour of the glory. This eradicates the plans of hell. As I prayed into this, the Lord said to me, "The rain washes the mud away." When you are in God's presence and His glory, it miraculously washes the accusations away.
So shall they fear the name of the Lord from the west, and His glory from the rising of the sun; when the enemy comes in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard against him (Is. 59:19).
The original Hebrew text did not have punctuation. As Scripture was translated, punctuation was added. In this case, it makes the enemy appear as the flood, but I believe the flood is not the enemy, but the Lord. When His torrent of glory is released, the flood waters of heaven overwhelm the powers of hell. The Spirit of the Lord raises a standard of glory against the trespasses of the enemy.
I want you to understand that we have nothing to fear. We can rest assured that Jesus paid for our total redemption. We neither glorify nor exalt the plans of hell. We simply expose them in order to conquer them. Identifying the enemy's battle strategy is a critical step in securing the victory. The enemy wants to raise up dead bondages and temptations, but the torrent of glory will overwhelm his schemes. Let's go to the place of prayer and, in unison, release the flood waters of His presence in this season. We win.

Radical Adjustments & Reassignments Coming by Doug Addison

On January 3, I had a major encounter in which the Lord spoke to me that over the next three weeks there would be some radical adjustments and changes coming for us all. God spoke to me that the last week of January would be a significant time for this to begin.
The Heavenly Adjustment Department
There have been some changes in many people's callings. New assignments were released from the heavenly adjustment department. This will be the start of some major realignments and reassignments coming over the next few months. Many people have been experiencing serious levels of discouragement and warfare. I have been praying daily for a breakthrough about this for myself and for others.
On January 16, God spoke to me that my case in Heaven had been reviewed and an adjustment offer had been released. I have never heard this before and it took me by surprise. I also heard that this was happening to many people right now.
New Offers Being Given
I was told by God that after reviewing my ministry, I was being offered a choice. I could continue in the current position that I occupy in the Kingdom of God, or I could take a special assignment that would produce more results in the Kingdom with regard to the upcoming revival.
For years I have been a "Courts of Heaven Reporter." I have had to get up daily at 4:00 AM to journal and write out what I am hearing from God. But this changed last year when I was promoted to a "Courts of Heaven Prophet," which comes with a lot of interaction in the heavenly realm and being part of counsel meetings similar to what is described in Zechariah 3. It also brings extreme levels of spiritual warfare.
Something changed for me again last month. I heard the Lord say, "I need you in the streets to raise up an army for Me." I knew that if I took this new assignment, then the supernatural encounters that I have been having daily would reduce dramatically. I would still be a prophet, but my assignment and position would change. I knew that what appears to be a demotion on Earth is indeed a promotion in God's eyes.
"Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time." 1 Peter 5:6 NIV
Jesus took a major demotion when He left His place of glory and came to Earth to save us all. He will promote the humble and the Lord is saying over and over right now that "due time is overdue." There is a backlog of repayment and unanswered prayers coming to many people.
I was given a choice and the Lord said He would bless me either way. I chose the new assignment, which is actually an upgraded version of my original calling for prophetic evangelism. I have to admit that the morning after I decided to take the new assignment it felt really strange to me as things changed majorly. I was still hearing God, but I suddenly had limits to my heavenly interactions.
But when we make decisions that will help grow the Kingdom, we will be blessed.
"And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or fields for my sake will receive a hundred times as much and will inherit eternal life." Matthew 19:29 NIV
Safety and Blessings
God has hidden many people away in prison like Joseph in Genesis 41. Joseph was released suddenly and repaid for all his pain and suffering. The prison was not a fun place to be, but it was a place of hope and safety to him as he waited for the fulfillment of the dreams God had given to him as a child (Genesis 37). God spoke to me that He is beginning to call forth the prisoners of hope.
"Come back to the place of safety, all you prisoners who still have hope! I promise this very day that I will repay two blessings for each of your troubles." Zechariah 9:12 NLT
This is a time to press in to the Lord in prayer and get ready for your marching orders that will come starting in March. God is going to start releasing the prisoners of hope. He is going to bring new hope and use you to bring hope to people in need of His love.
So get your hopes up because you are going to be repaid double for all your trouble.
Strategic Season of Dreams
February will mark the release of strategic dreams from God. Watch for dreams and night visitations as higher-level revelation is going to start pouring out to you. In some cases, you might not remember these types of dreams or visitations. The reason for this is that God is going to reveal it to you in a way that will hide it from the enemy.
"During the night the mystery was revealed to Daniel in a vision. Then Daniel praised the God of heaven and said: "Praise be to the name of God for ever and ever; wisdom and power are his. He changes times and seasons; he deposes kings and raises up others. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the discerning. He reveals deep and hidden things; he knows what lies in darkness, and light dwells with him." Daniel 2:19–22 NIV
God is releasing wisdom and power and concealing strategies and revelation. This will help hide your promotion and plans from the enemy and bring you less warfare. Times and seasons are changing quickly so be aware that the way you currently do things might not work in the new season that is upon us now.
The Lord is releasing deep and hidden things over the next month. He is going to reveal the plans of the enemy against you and bring them into the light. Watch for a change in affiliations and locations to start unfolding.
Prophetic Dream: Pilots and Season Change
I had a prophetic dream last month and in this dream, I had been promoted and was working for an airport. I watched as jets were diverted into a remote area for landing due to construction. I was told that this was going to go on for the next several months. It looked very muddy, slippery and dangerous. I watched one plane that was full of pilots who had been through so much stress that when they landed they had all passed out and were asleep.
I went to the remote area where they were deplaning. I wanted to bring them water because I knew they were dehydrated. The water bins were all half empty and there was no fresh water for them. I found two bottles but by the time I found them they had all started getting transportation to the terminal. My new supervisor (an angel) told me not to worry about it. I was really concerned that these pilots needed water, but they were all moving quickly with a new purpose.
Then I talked to one of the pilots who looked like Tom Cruise. He told me that he has to really pay attention to the flight process now and he needed to plan ahead in order to avoid storms and things like this. My sense was that the season had changed and things were radically different now, so we can no longer go on "autopilot."
This dream shows us that we are in a time of transition and uncertainty, but God is aware of our needs and He has us covered. The unconscious pilots represent leaders that are now coming out of a difficult time. They are waking up to a new calling and they will not be able to do things the way we have in the past.
Get ready for things to start happening much more quickly! Get ready for deeper dreams in February and for your marching orders to come starting in March.

In a fraction of a moment my overwhelming sense of peace and safety and relaxation turned to the most gripping terror I had ever known. It was as if every source of life and good had been eliminated from the atmosphere. Evil dominated the place that just moments ago was so enjoyable.
My mind raced in an attempt to figure out what had just happened. The fear I was experiencing was beyond description. It made no sense. What was going on? Everything was so perfect! Today was supposed to be about enjoying life!
Suddenly, as I was confused, horrified and trembling on the floor, two hands grabbed my ankles. My terror instantly escalated to levels I cannot describe. I quickly looked back and saw nothing—but I knew a demonic entity had grabbed on to me.
The grip on my ankles was like a vice. The thought of escaping was a ridiculous one. It was impossible. My life, which seemingly just moments ago had been under my own control, was now overpowered by an invisible yet horrifying force, a force that I knew had intents—and the ability—to destroy me.
Again, the terror immediately increased nearly to the point of literally losing control of my mind as that demon started to pull me backward—and then down. My feet and legs were disappearing below the floor of that shack. I knew I was going to hell.
How can this be? It's impossible! I'm going to hell? But I'm saved. I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior. This is contrary to everything I have ever learned in church. Yet the moment was real, and I was losing every ounce of hope. I was about to enter an eternity of continual torture. Never-ending panic, madness and torment was upon me.
The demon kept slowly pulling me downward, as if he was relishing every single moment. My feet were well below the floor and my waist was at ground level. Then, suddenly my hope increased. I thought to myself, "If I say the name of Jesus, the demon must flee!"
So in my new state of hope I was able to squeeze out, "In the name of J—–. In the name of J—–. Ahhhhh!"
I couldn't say it! The demon was controlling my very breath. I was suffocating every time that name was about to be said. I could have said any word in the dictionary but that one. My hope instantly was lost and I started to cry out as I convulsed under the unbreakable control of that demon.
He continued to pull me down, one grueling inch at a time. Finally, my neck and then my mouth were entering hell as my body was taken below. At the height of my madness and terror, and as my eyes were about to descend beneath the floor, I woke up.
I sat straight up, trembling in my bed in that old church building. I was sweating in such volume that my entire bed was saturated. The light switch by my bedroom door was no more than seven feet from my bed. Just two quick steps to the wall would have been all it took to lighten the room. But I was frozen. I sat there for at least three hours in the darkness in absolute terror.
What Just Happened?
I finally fell back to sleep and awoke the next morning. I didn't realize how radically my life had taken a turn the previous night. As I tried to gather my thoughts while the events of the previous night overwhelmed my spirit and my mind, I looked outside the two windows that were there in my bedroom in that old church building. It was a beautiful sunny day—but I did not feel comfortable or relaxed. I was shaken.
I begged God to tell me why I had that dream. What had just happened? Finally, later on that day, He spoke to me, "John, you represented the church. You were comfortable in your place of supposed safety. The storm was intensifying, yet you were lulled into a state of apathy. Many in the church will be surprised one day, just as you were surprised in the dream, to find themselves under the control of demons as they are taken to hell."
"The house of the wicked will be overthrown, but the tent of the upright will flourish. There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death. Even in laughter the heart is sorrowful, and the end of that cheer is grief. The backslider in heart will be filled with his own ways, but a good man will be satisfied with his" (Prov. 14:11-14).
There is a way that seems right. Intellectually, it makes sense. Other people seem to confirm that it is right. Common sense tells us that it is right. Even our theological dispositions confirm it is right. But it leads to death. And if it's the type of death I experienced in my dream—it must be avoided at all costs.
A backslider is focused on his own condition, on his own comfort zone while a good man is in tune with the heart of God. His pleasure comes from intimacy with Father God. His pleasure comes from going where God is going, doing what he is doing and feeling what he is feeling. There is no sense of ease in the storm, but there is satisfaction and joy in the presence of God and by being in active agreement with Him.
This message is a wake-up call for every one of us. Many wonderful people will be terribly shocked to find themselves separated from God forever.
"Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven. Many will say to Me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonderful works in Your name?' But then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you. Depart from Me, you who practice evil'" (Matt. 7:21-23).
This Scripture is in reference to those who would call themselves born-again Christians, people who have understood and actually flowed in the power of the Holy Spirit. They understood their heavenly position and earthly authority as they overcame demons. These were your miracle workers.
We need a wake-up call, church. We can't presume to be in a place of safety simply because we said a prayer, go to church, give offerings and talk about Jesus. An intense pursuit of holiness and intimacy is required.
This is a message that must be shouted from the rooftops.
I can't imagine multiplied millions of people who are current following Jesus in an unsaved condition crying out in terror one day, "I'm going to hell? That's impossible!"
"He who has the seven Spirits of God and the seven stars says these things: I know your works, that you have a reputation of being alive, but you are dead.Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain but are ready to die, for I have not found your works perfected before God. Remember therefore how you have received and heard; hold fast and repent. Therefore if you will not watch, I will come upon you as a thief, and you will not know what hour I will come upon you" (Rev. 3:1-3, MEV).

On Friday Night, May 27th, I was traveling on an 11 hour overnight flight from Tel Aviv to JFK airport. I had just co-led a 10 day prophetic tour in Israel and was completely exhausted flying back home. As I went to sleep on the plane, I had a very powerful prophetic dream from the Lord that came in audible message form. The Holy Spirit spoke to me as I was asleep and when I woke up on the plane, I had an indescribable urgency to get out my computer and immediately type out all that I had heard from Him in the dream. For me personally, I have been having these non symbolic, very literal types of prophetic dreams since I was 12 years old and have published many of them concerning President Obama and Hillary Clinton in one of my books called, “Chronicles of the Unknown Dreamer 2013“.
CHARLOTTE, NC AND THE EAST COAST OF THE UNITED STATES
This is what I heard in the prophetic dream on the plane and what I wrote down:
Charlotte,
“My eyes are upon you in this hour. Though the birth pains and complications have been great in recent years as gross darkness and immorality has tried to cover the land, so I Myself will deliver this Isaac that I have promised to you. I, the Lion of Judah am roaring in Charlotte, who can but prophesy? Can you hear My roar sons of men? Gather the elders of the land, call a sacred assembly, and fast together, for Charlotte shall be a flashpoint for awakening and revival on the East Coast of the United States. What happens in Charlotte will touch Washington D.C. There is a divine connection between Charlotte and Washington D.C. that will shake the nation. Tremors of glory will be felt in Washington D.C., but only as a foreshadowing of what I will do in Charlotte” says the Lord.
He continued on, “I call forth My Daniel Company on the East Coast! I say to My prophets and intercessors: because you have chosen not to feast upon worldly pleasures, but rather dine with Me, I will give you unprecedented favor to move the hearts of kings that sit in positions of authority on the East Coast. There is a trumpet of holiness that shall be sounded. I am releasing prophetic messengers of repentance and consecration that will challenge the Nebuchadnezzar’s to bow their knees to My righteous decrees. Yes, the knees of some governors and even congressmen and women will bow as My prophetic messengers release righteous decrees that will set the people free.
You must recognize that Governor Haley from South Carolina is my Esther of the hour! My body on the East Coast must stand with her, for the time is now! Open up your arms to her and do not be blind to the anointing and favor that I have placed upon her life for such a time as this. From Jacksonville, FL to Washington D.C., there will be a divine window in June through September where strategic planning for awakening on the East Coast must take place. During these months, many of My servants will be visited by an unusual wind of grace to heal, restore, and refresh them. Yes, even some physical storms are coming as a sign in the natural realm that My glory shall be released in the spirit realm.
Lou Engle, call the huddle and assemble the team. The prophecies of Bob Jones and Bill Bright will not fall to the ground!” says the Lord.
May the Holy Spirit use His words to encourage, strengthen, and comfort the body of Christ in this hour.

"Give me oil in my lamp, keep it burning, burning, burning; give me oil in my lamp, I pray; give me oil in my lamp, keep it burning, burning, burning; keep it burning till the break of day ..."
I had a dream.
I was awakened in a dream by a Man with jet-black hair, and He said, "Follow Me." So I got up from my bed and began to follow Him into a room filled with people. It was as if I walked right from my bedroom into another house. This Man stood in the corner of the room and gestured with His head for me to watch what was taking place in this room.
I realized, as I looked around the room, that I had stepped right into a parable. I was literally "in" Matthew 25. I was just an observer; no one seemed to know I was even there except for the Man with jet-black hair that brought me. He kept gesturing for me to keep watching.
I saw something very interesting as I began to look around the room; every person in the room had a lantern. Everyone was carrying their own lantern. Some of the lanterns were very beautiful. Some of them were very simple. Some were very old; some were shiny, almost to the point that I wanted to just look at how beautiful these lanterns were; and every person in the room had one. But what I would soon see for myself is that it is not the outside beauty that is needed but what is on the inside. For I saw very quickly that beautiful, unique and shiny lanterns are of no use when the inside is empty. For some lanterns were beautiful on the outside, and I could see they were filled to the brim of oil; and some lanterns, though beautiful and though so unique, were in much need of oil.
This was a very interesting sight that my eyes were beholding, for everyone carried lanterns—some full of oil, some almost empty of oil.
I had stepped into a parable that I had read a thousand times. I noticed the hour become late and everyone began to sleep. Now, being in the parable, I could see that falling asleep was not the main point of this—for in this life and in our natural bodies we get tired and sleep is a part of living in this life; but the key was sleeping not with just a lamp but with a reservoir full of oil.
Suddenly, when all was still and silent and everyone was sleeping, we all heard a cry: "The Bridegroom is coming!"When you hear this cry, well, it is just time.
Now everyone in the room awoke and began to get ready very quickly. Everyone heard the cry, everyone was awakened and got up, everyone grabbed their lanterns, and everyone began to trim their lamp. Everyone had a lantern, and everyone got up to trim their own lanterns, and everyone began to prepare to go out and meet the Bridegroom. The other thing I saw was, at thispoint, everyone's lanterns were shining. Everyone had lanterns that were shining. It was not like some were shining and some were not, but everyone got up and everyone began to trim their lamps, and every lantern was shining.
In the dream, I began to look at their lamps very closely. They were very simple lanterns. Some were not as beautiful or extravagant as other lanterns in the room, but my eyes fell upon not the outside of the lanterns but the oil on the inside. For some were full, and this oil had a fragrance; these lanterns was so full that there was oil running down on the outside. I saw in a clear picture that it is not the outer shine that is the most precious, but it is that which is hidden inside. This is the place I saw the necessity of the oil itself.
As I was pondering all of this, the Man with the jet black hair that was quietly watching in the corner of the room came over to me and said, "This oil is a sign of every 'yes' that they ever said when no one was looking. This oil is a sign of all that is done in secret. All of their yeses, drop by drop, have given oil overflowing. No one can take this from them and they cannot give this away; for though many people shine, no one can sustain the shine without oil, without a secret life."
He said, "Look around the room."
Then, suddenly, this Man became very clear to me as the Lord. At first He was a visitor in the room just watching everyone, and then in an instant, He stepped into a place where I knew exactly who He was. He was there watching the whole thing, very silent, but always watching.
I saw that when the shout at the midnight hour came, "Behold, the Bridegroom comes!" that they all had eyes to perceive His coming, they all got up and took notice of His coming. They all turned their attention and began to observe His coming. "Behold," was said to everyone in the room, and everyone looked up to see Him coming. Everyone looked and perceived, and everyone trimmed their lamps.
They put in order their lamps, their "shine," their "glow."
Sustain Your 'Shine'
As they all got up and put in order their lamps, they made ready their shine; they began to prepare their shine to go out and meet the Bridegroom.
I began to look around the room, and I saw everyone with their lanterns, and everyone at this point had "shine." But very quickly the "shine," the "light" coming forth from the lanterns, began to fade in those whose lanterns had little oil.
Then suddenly the great struggle began, for many people had beautiful lanterns but they did not have oil. I saw that the key is to sustain your shine, your light. For many lanterns were lit and shining, but the key is to be able to sustain your "shine." The key to sustaining the shine is by carrying a reservoir of oil with you (within you).
I saw that everyone who took their lamps and took no oil with them had just enough oil to make their lamps burn for the present, but no bottle of oil with them to sustain their shine.
I woke up from the dream, and I knew thatwe are in a season to get oil. Many of us have "shine," but the key is to have that which will sustain our "shine."
Every season is the right season to get oil, that we would be able to sustain our shine. And the oil comes from the simplest of things: it is simply having a heart that says "yes," a heart that says, "I love You, and I trust You, God." It is mostly the little things that fill our vessels with oil; it is simply a heart that is not offended and that rejoices with those who rejoice.
How to 'Buy' Sustaining Oil for Your Lamp
I began to study this parable. When studying the Jewish marriage ceremony, when the bridegroom literally came for his bride, it was a custom sometimes used among the Jews that the bridegroom came, attended with his friends, late in the night, to the house of the bride, where she was waiting for him, attended with her bridesmaids; who, upon the notice given of the bridegroom's approach, were to go out with lamps in their hands, to light him into the house with ceremony.
The office of these virgins is to meet the bridegroom; they come to wait upon the bridegroom when he appears and, in the meantime, to wait for him. Their chief concern is to have lights in their hands when they attend the bridegroom, thus to do him honor and do him service.
As the parable goes, they all went out to meet Him and they took their lamps; this word "lamps" comes from the root word meaning "to shine." They took their "shine" and went out to meet the Bridegroom. Everyone could see shine at this point.
The five foolish took their "shine" and went out to meet Him. You can "shine" for a little while, even with a little oil, but the key is the ability to sustain that "shine," and that takes "oil" in your lamp. They all trimmed their lamps, they all had a flame, but this flame needs to be sustained with oil. But the wise took oil in their "vessels." They took a reservoir of oil. They took with them that which would sustain their shine.
At this point the five foolish realize they do not have that which will sustain their shine; they do not have a reservoir of oil and only have enough "shine" for the moment. "Our lamps are going out," they said. "We want what you have. We want you to give to us that which sustains your 'shine.' For the flame which sustains our shine is going out. Our shine is beginning to 'go out,' to extinguish. Our divine influence has 'gone out.' I don't know His voice anymore. I don't know what He is saying. Tell me, what is He saying?"
The foolish virgins were told to go and buy oil. That word "buy" is agorazo. It is the same word that is in Revelation 3:18: "I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined by fire, that you may be rich, and white garments, that you may be dressed, that the shame of your nakedness may not appear, and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see."
It is also very similar to the other word "buy" in 1 Chronicles 21:24: "Then King David said to Ornan, "No, for I will surely acquire it for the full price, for I will not take what is yours for the Lord nor offer burnt offerings that cost me nothing.'"
And this word means:
to get, acquire, buy, posses, to obtain of God originating, creating, wisdom
to buy
This is our season to buy oil, to purchase from the Lord that which is tried in the fire—that which costs us everything.
To acquire of God
To buy
To redeem
To obtain of God what you can never receive or get from man.
In this season, trust God is in control. Let every sting lead you straight into His heart, and buy gold and oil by trusting and being unoffended if you are overlooked, if you get thrown under the bus, when you are mistreated by your peers or when you are demoted.
In the middle of all of this, talk to Holy Spirit. Right in the middle of it all, you can redeem and acquire knowledge. You can get oil, drop by drop, filling your lamp and running over right in the middle of a hard season. You can sustain your shine. You can get oil.
