What Is a 'Super Blue Blood Moon' and Does It Have Spiritual, Prophetic Significance?

A special full moon is expected on Jan. 31 and if you're in the western part of the U.S. you'll have the best view.

It's being called a "Super Blue Blood Moon" and it's special for three reasons according to NASA: it's the third in a series of "supermoons," that's when the Moon is closer to Earth in its orbit and is brighter than usual. 

It's also the second full moon of the month which is known as a "blue moon."

Finally, the super blue moon will pass through Earth's shadow giving it a total lunar eclipse in some areas. While the Moon is in the Earth's shadow it will take on a reddish tint, known as a blood moon.

"Weather permitting, the West Coast, Alaska and Hawaii will have a spectacular view of totality from start to finish," said Gordon Johnston, program executive and lunar blogger at NASA Headquarters in Washington.

"Unfortunately, eclipse viewing will be more challenging in the Eastern time zone. The eclipse begins at 5:51 AM ET, as the Moon is about to set in the western sky, and the sky is getting lighter in the east."

If you miss the Jan. 31 lunar eclipse, you'll have to wait almost another year for the next opportunity in North America.

Spiritual Significance? 

Blood Moons have also been thought to have spiritual signifcance and to be part of prophecies. Some also believe they have special signifigance in relation to Israel. 

Christianheadlines.com reported that Rabbi Yosef Berger, the rabbi of King David's Tomb on Mont Zion told Breaking Israel News the Super Blue Blood Moon is significant with world events... citing U.S. President Donald Trump's announcement of plans to move the U.S. embassy to Jerusalem and recognize the city as the capital of Israel. 

"The Talmud states that Israel is judged by our actions, by our commitment to Hashem (God), and not by astrological signs. In fact, the Talmud states that a lunar eclipse is a bad sign for those who hate Israel," Berger said.

Have you ever watched the news lately and wondered what on earth liberals, in general, have against Russia?

Sure, during the Cold War, the Soviet Union was definitely our enemy. And, in recent years, Russian president Vladimir Putin has acted in ways that have not been good for his neighbors, or for U.S. national security.

But, as Dr. Lance Wallnau pointed out in a recent commentary he posted to his Facebook page, there's definitely something deep-seated about modern mainstream liberals' visceral reaction to anything that has to do with Russia. Here's what he wrote:

What is it about Russia that obsesses Washington? North Korea and Iran want to nuke us. Why is Putin the focus?

It may be more spiritual than you think. Remember this - the modern angry activist liberal embraces an anti-Christian bias and hence an anti-Christ spirit. I know this offends some folks but all you have to do is look at the endless stream of assaults and protests and organizing and anger to see this is no longer the party of Hubert Humphrey and JFK. It's gotten weird. It's a spirit of rebellion - and rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft and witchcraft operates through manipulation, intimidation, and control. Otherwise known as Alinsky's training on community organizing.

The liberal east and west coastal elites are incensed that Putin rejects homosexuality and embraces the Russian Orthodox Christian faith. This spirit is a global power that even Donald Trump tries to accommodate (though he gets nothing back from this.) I even understand Republicans like McCain and his buddy Lindsey Graham. This Batman and Robin duo have a lot of ego wrapped up in their role on the Senate Armed Services Committee. They need Russia to be an enemy. They have a lot of billion dollar military contracts riding on their ability to justify the threat they think Russia imposes. Never underestimate the corporate profits and military contract aspect behind foreign policy. Trump and McCain/Graham are competing for control of foreign policy. That's why McCain and Graham are trying to set up the President to look like a fool for saying he has been under surveillance with private calls that have been leaked to the press by Obama loyalists. They want this President impeached. McCain and Graham are part of the elite beltway democratic/republican alliance against Trump. I am calling them out and alerting you to pray that they fall into alignment or fall into the ditch they have dug for Trump.

Back to Russia. Ann Coulter put it so clearly this week, saying..."Back when Russia was actually threatening America with nuclear annihilation, Jimmy Carter warned Americans about their "inordinate fear of communism." Sting sang that "the Russians love their children, too."

"But now liberals are hopping mad with Putin. They could never forgive Russia for giving up communism."

"To add insult to injury, Putin embraced the Russian Orthodox Church! This was deeply offensive to fiercely Christophobic liberals."

(Lance: love that- Christophobic liberals. So true. Liberals have Jesus jitters.)

"Russia's descent into insanity and madness was clear when Putin refused to allow LGBTQ marches through Red Square. For having the same position on gays as Obama did, circa 2008, Russkies were walking on the fighting side of liberals!"

(Lance: hard to believe Obama could not get elected supporting same sex in 08 so Axelrod told him he had to lie to Pastor Rick Warren at Saddleback and say he stood for the Christian definition of marriage! Biggest Lie told in church in 2008. Now gay marriage is a weapon used to put Christians out of business.)

"Trump's election victory was the capstone of the left's rage with Putin. To explain the inexplicable, Putin was made the center of liberals' axis of evil, the mastermind of a malevolent plot to steal the election from Hillary Clinton."

"That's how liberals became born-again John Birchers, seeing Russians under every bed. Now, no fear of Russia is inordinate. The Russians do NOT love their children, too."

“A man has joy by the answer of his mouth, and a word spoken in due season, how good it is!” (Proverbs 15:23, NKJV)

All around us there are cycles. The nightly sky typically glows with the light of the moon, which completes a full cycle from a new moon to a full moon in 29.5 days. The Hebrew or Jewish calendar is based on this, these lunisolar phases, giving the Jews a consistent basis for anticipating feasts and regular days of consistent life.

New years come and go. We count on them to bring the completion of one year, bringing hope for a better one to come, and maybe start over in certain aspects in our lives. According to the Julian calendar, every 365 days that specific cycle comes full circle.

“You made the moon to mark the seasons, and the sun knows when to set. You bring darkness, and it is night, the time when all forest animals prowl. The young lions roar after their prey and seek their food from God. The sun rises, they slink away and lie down to rest in their dens; while people go out to their work, laboring on till evening.

What variety there is in your works, Adonai! How many [of them there are]! In wisdom you have made them all; the earth is full of your creations. (Psalm 104:19-24 Complete Jewish Bible)

In most climates of the earth, we have the four seasons. Spring, summer, fall and winter bring new life, new growth and new creation before the annual cycle completes its life with “death” or hibernation settling in for months, before it starts all over again. For many, this continual cycle is very refreshing, bringing the newness of flourishing green, yellow, red, and all colors of the rainbow in vegetation and bird life, as the cycle repeats itself.

Certainly our God is a God of cycles. With so many examples in the natural, we can expect to find them also in the spiritual.

“However, the spiritual is not first, but the natural; then the spiritual. The first man is from the earth, earthy; the second man is from heaven. As is the earthy, so also are those who are earthy; and as is the heavenly, so also are those who are heavenly. Just as we have borne the image of the earthy, we will also bear the image of the heavenly.” (1 Corinthians 15:46-49 NASU)

Often I have been amazed at these spiritual cycles. I have written of them over my years, and can clearly see seven year markers on this life timeline. I can go back in my spiritual walk and map the years based on these seven year increments, seeing major highlights and milestones that the Lord Jesus had established and planned through them, believing they were assigned even before my birth.

"Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I have appointed you a prophet to the nations." (Jeremiah 1:5, NASU)

At times I need to remind myself of these cycles, believing that even while I am yet in the middle of another one, finding myself once again wondering if the completion of expectations will yet come soon, that the past promises fulfilled can be a foretelling proof of the future ones also being prophetically fulfilled. In the proper time of course.

You too can count on the Almighty God to bring completion of cycles in your life. Whether you are in the beginning, middle or end of your current spiritual one, the hope placed within can see you through to the circle being completed, with new life brought forth once again. As we keep our eyes on the Lord, our Eternal Hope, Author and Finisher of our faith, certainly we can stand on solid ground, and see dreams and visions come to fruition. In His time it shall be so.

Be glad that the Creator of all, Who has set in motion consistent cycles in your natural and spiritual life, will surely come through once again in your life through these spiritual cycles. We can count on Him to do it. He is Faithful and True.

Persevere to the end. You will see the cycle's completion, and rejoice in His love, wisdom and provision.

We are still in a strategic time of restoration and repayment for the things that we have lost over the past few years. If you are still losing money or emotional energy from things God had previously called you to, then pray about this.

As you cut ties to the past God can then bring these things back to you in greater ways. Do not worry about thinking logically because what is happening right now is spiritual.

"Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past."  Isaiah 43:18

Let Go of the Past

This will require many of us to make some radical changes and let go of connections to the past. This might be things that God had called you to in a previous season that are no longer what He is doing now. Also, some people have been holding on to possessions and properties that are causing losses in your life.

I had to let go of a business that I felt God tell me to start in 2010. It never took off and we lost money on it. I was not sure why this happened until I started hearing the stories of hundreds of people who experienced something similar.

We were all in a seven-year season of heavy opposition of the enemy. 

It may have been that it was God's intention for those good things to happen, but due to spiritual warfare, poor decisions, or others saying no, the result was that those businesses, projects, etc. became no longer effective and are now void.

As I look back at that experience I can now see that I was trying to put "new wine into an old wineskin." God had called me to something radically new, but I was trying to use the old way of doing things and it just would not work. As I closed that business, it freed things up spiritually. And a legal document we needed came to us a few months later. 

Be willing to give things up that are not working so you can move into this new time with a new strategy.

God's Call to the Internet

The enemy was using these computers and the wires for evil. Then an angel gave me a silver hacksaw and I began cutting into the wires and short circuiting the plans of the enemy and putting in the glory of God instead.

I have a high-tech background so I did my best to activate this prophetic word by launching our first Spirit Connection webinars in 2008. It was a terrible year for us. We went through a major split within my ministry, I stopped getting speaking invitations and our website got hacked. On top of it we went over $30,000 in debt. 

It is common to get opposition when you move into new territory.

I stayed with the calling God had given me to do ministry through the Internet. But I was still traveling to over 150 live conferences a year and I was exhausted. I had almost given up on the vision of the Internet until 2012 when God gave me a radical new strategy. We were able to pay off the $30,000 debt in a matter of three days. It took a major mindset change for me to do ministry in a different way.

Today we are debt-free, we have an Internet-based ministry and I have an amazing team of virtual employees. My Daily Prophetic Words, monthly Spirit Connection webcast and blog now go all over the world. We are able to touch way more people than I would have if I had stayed with our old way of operating.

Our online courses not only touch more people, they help fund our ministry so that I can have the freedom to do what God calls me to do, when He calls me to do it. As you let go of the past, you will make room for God to give you a new strategy.

Radio, TV and the Internet

In the early 1920s, healing evangelist Aimee Semple McPherson rocked the entire world with God's love and power. She was one of the few who were able to radically change the arts and entertainment industry in Hollywood. She did this through radio, the cutting-edge media of her day. Similarly, God gave Rex Humbard a vision to take the message of Jesus into the homes of people all over the world through TV. He started the first Christian television network in the 1950s. Humbard influenced so many people in the entertainment industry with his willingness to use media that he was asked to officiate Elvis Presley's funeral.

Jesus and the Internet

Just as radio and television were used by God in the past, God is bringing a new calling and anointing to the Internet. 

In Luke 5, Jesus actually did something similar as He stood in a boat on a lake to broadcast His message to more people.

This position actually provided natural amplification as His voice would carry better over the water. Previously, speakers were limited to buildings and synagogues. But Jesus used a style of speaking and communicating that made it easy for the common people to hear and understand Him.

When He was done teaching, Jesus turned to the owners of the boat and said,"Put out into deep water." Luke 5:4

He was going to show these seasoned fisherman how to fish in a new way. He showed them supernaturally where the fish were located. When they let down their nets there were so many fish that the nets broke and they had to call other boats over to help them—which symbolizes the need for networking. (Photo via Wikimedia)

God is releasing a new strategy to use the Internet for something different than what it is currently being used for. He is calling us to "fix the net" (the Internet). 

There are angels and heavenly resources being released right now to repair the damage from the Internet and bring us new strategies to catch fish for the Kingdom, which is symbolic of encountering people in need of God's love.

“Today, the spirit of communism shows itself in western worship of human rights, freedom of speech and the elite’s utopian notions of so-called open societies. We are headed for the very wasteland that the Russians were relieved to leave behind.”

The subject of this interview is a Danish journalist and theologian  who hosted a series of five programmes, entitled “From Russia with Love” on Danish national public service radio,Radio24syv, with the sub-heading “An Unbiased Look at Putin’s Russia.”

Inspired by Emperor Constantine, she believes Christianity in the West can be rejuvenated by looking to the East. Iben is aware of the sheer enormity of this task. “Such, alas, is the depth to which Western hatred for Christianity has sunk,” says the theologian, who does not hesitate to defend President Putin, on whom the Western media delights in heaping derision and scorn.

“The Pussy Riot case opened the door to Russia for me,” she explains.

“I understood that Russia is a country that refuses to compromise on Christian values. Russia is not just a country or a nation, Russia is a spiritual concept, a state of mind. Criticism of President Putin was not the crime for which the activists were tried and convicted. Their crime was the invasion of the Christ-The-Saviour Cathedral, the holiest of places, and engaging in a blasphemous act in front of the iconostases.

In the West, freedom of speech is widely deployed for the purpose of desecrating religion, but Russia does not permit crossing the line into blasphemy. That really fascinated me, and so I travelled to Moscow to learn more and this eventually resulted in a series of radio programmes trying to help Danes move beyond the tedious and unhelpful caricature-like clichés and provide them with a nuanced view of Russia.”

What was your impression of Russia?

“I experienced a fantastic energy, a moral energy similar to America in the ’50s with the old moral values. I met helpful, poetic and cultured people with a spirit of self-sacrifice I have not seen before. The atmosphere in Moscow is completely different from that of any capital in Europe, and unlike here in the West, I feel much more spiritually free in the East.

While the West is deriding and disowning Christianity and Europe revels in self-loathing, Russians are returning to Christianity in a modern and contemporary context. Bear in mind that Christianity was suppressed under Communism, which was atheistic. Russians are familiar with the bitter fruit of atheism and have no appetite for the bleak and barren wasteland it produced.

The interesting thing is, that in Russia, Christianity is associated with being modern and progressive. It is the spirit of the young, the hip, the wise and the wealthy, who express their Christianity as a completely natural and straightforward way of life. Christianity is simply fashionable, but not in the superficial Western pop manner. Christianity’s roots grow deep in the soil of Russian life, and they look with amazement at how we guard, or rather, disregard, our spiritual heritage.

Not only that: They discern in our obsession with political correctness, and the social liberal opinion policing of the general media and academia, a new manifestation of the terror of totalitarianism they counted themselves blessed to escape after 75 terrible years.

After the Cold War, East and West swapped roles spiritually, culturally and morally. Cultural Marxism now holds unrestrained sway in the West.

But Communism and Social Democracy are probably not the same?

“Let me put it a different way. During the rule of Communism, Russia found itself in the grip of a culture of death, but she is returning to life, in the sense of Christian culture with a strong awareness of the historical roots and continuity.”

The situation in the West is the complete opposite. We celebrate death and have surrendered to the satanic view of man in a self-righteous rage and rant against God. We can divorce with ease on-line. We prioritise work and career above family responsibilities especially raising children. We favour euthanasia, abortion on demand, homosexual rights and same-sex marriage while our cities are submerged in Islam and growing segregation.

Russia has chosen a completely different direction, and it is one of the reasons that many Russians perceive activists like Pussy Riot as latter-day Bolsheviks. They invade and desecrate the sanctity of the church, a holy place. The West celebrates this as progress and prosperity. Russians are reminded that the spirit of communism is still alive. It merely assumes new forms and takes up residence in the West, where liberals and progressiveslove and adore Pussy Riot.

Today, the spirit of communism shows itself in western worship of human rights, freedom of speech and the elite’s utopian notions of so-called open societies. We are headed for the very wasteland that the Russians were relieved to leave behind. Patriarch Kirill has warned the West: “Do not take the path we took. We tried it and it leads to destruction!”

Recently the Russian military held an exercise based on the scenario of an attack on northern Norway, Aaland, Gotland and Bornholm. Do we just turn the other cheek?

“Well, that’s not the true way to look at it. The Russians hold such an exercise because of the geopolitical pressure that NATO creates by deploying hostile military forces along the Ukrainian border and in the old Warsaw Pact countries.

Russian foreign policy has long been demonized. Russia is compelled to respond to a situation it did not create, which is not the same as aggression. Why should Russia accept being cut off from access to the sea, from Saint Petersburg to Vladivostok? Such a thing is unthinkable. With bald-faced hypocrisy, the West makes it look like Russia is our new enemy. The truth is exactly the opposite. The West is its own worst enemy.
