Many of you feel stagnant in your walk with the Lord, and the reason is that you are reliving your past. Some of you are having a difficult time letting go of old memories. It is imperative to release the memories of the mistakes and misfortunes as well as the memories of the good times that you had, so that you could move forward into everything that Jesus has for you. Your past or current situation does not determine your future destination.

 

Forget the Past

 

The Lord says, "Forget what lies behind.  Don't hold on to past memories that will burden you down and bring bitterness to your soul. Don't see yourself as the person who you were in the past, and do not entertain thoughts of regret. You are no longer the man or woman that you once were. Don't reminisce on the good times and the way that you think your life should have been. This will hinder you from My plans. Reconstruct your way of thinking into the image of how I see you. 

Allow Me to take the good times as well as bad times of your past, and create a masterpiece from a life that has been totally surrendered and submitted to Me. Accept your past as the teacher that it is. Your most significant opportunities will be found in the things that you have experienced. Do not rehearse those things that went wrong, but release them to Me and allow Me to bring restoration."

 

"Release those who have hurt you. Unforgiveness will hinder My work in your life and will bring sorrow, guilt, shame and regret. Release those who have lied to you and lied about you. Those haunting memories are preventing you from moving forward as you are holding on to worthless thoughts of situations which no longer exist. 

As you release your past, you will no longer be tormented with fear. As you align yourself with My plan, those debilitating memories will diminish, and I will give you beauty for ashes and the oil of joy for mourning. I will restore the years of pain and sorrow."

 

"Learn from the mistakes of your past. Release every situation that no longer exists. Don't try to resurrect those things that are dead. Old ways of thinking must be buried."

 

You have a New nature

 

"Your old nature is no longer in existence. See yourself the way that I see you. Envision yourself as the person that I have created you to be. Nothing that you did in your past will disqualify you from the future that I have for you. Don't be afraid of change but move forward into the victory that I have for you. Don't deprive yourself from entering into the blessings that I have for you by looking back. 

Remember where I have brought you from, but walk in the newness that I am bringing you in to. My plans for you are bigger than what you now perceive, and as you look to Me, you will begin to see the promises and the provisions that I have for you says the Lord."

 

Isaiah 43: 18-19 Do not remember the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing, now it shall spring forth; shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.

In a sharply-worded letter sent late last month, French parliamentarian Meyer Habib (pictured) slammed French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius for accusing Israel of war crimes in Gaza, even as his boss, President Francois Hollande, struck a far different tone.

Habib noted in his letter that early in the Gaza war the French government “fully identified with Israel and its right to defend its citizens. …We prevented a number of anti-Israel and anti-Semitic demonstrations…in order to change France’s position in regards to Israel.”

But, it seemed Fabius was not happy with this new direction. “You speak of a massacre in Gaza. You speak of a lack of vision,” Habib accused the foreign minister. “Instead of helping to calm the situation, you pour oil on the fire.”

Habib noted that such anti-Israel incitement lead to the March 2012 shooting at a Jewish school in Toulouse, France by a Muslim gunman, Mohammed Merah, who later acknowledged that his motivation was revenge for “the Jews killing our brothers and sisters in Palestine [sic].”

Habib also took issue with Western criticism of Israel’s “lack of proportionality,” which Fabius happily parroted.

“You forget that without the Iron Dome, the thousands of rockets fired at Israel would have resulted in hundreds of deaths. Would that have made Israel’s response more balanced?” Habib wondered.

“Who is truly responsible for this tragedy [in Gaza]?” Habib asked his foreign minister. “Is it the one who attacks civilians while hiding in schools, or is it the one that does everything possible to avoid civilian casualties?”

Habib stressed that the threat Israelis face in the form of Hamas is also bearing down on France and the West.

“The jihadists that attack Israel today are the same as those that abducted Christian girls in Nigeria, slaughtered Alawites in Syria and executed homosexuals in Somalia,” wrote Habib. “They are the same extremists that oppress women in Iraq, behead Western journalist and threaten Christians and Yazidis.”

Habib concluded by calling on Fabius and the West to “open your eyes! This wave [of terror] will reach the heart of Europe… In the battle against these forces of evil, Israel is on the front line.”

Times of Acceleration

We are in a time of acceleration and moving forward in the purposes of God. Many times there are hindrances that must be removed to move with greater speed. Things are rapidly escalating now in the times that we are in. We see this in the natural world and it is also happening in the spirit. There is an evil acceleration as well as an escalation in the move of God in the earth. This is our time to accelerate removing the things that hinder and hold us back from running with strength, power and freedom.

Moving to A Juncture, Crossroads and Opening

For many there has been a congestion that has hindered them from moving forward at the speed that they know they can run in the Lord. In this race there is an intersection coming up that is an equivalent crossroads.

At this juncture there will be an opening to take off at greater speed, accelerating into the purposes of God. There will be "openings" that will be seen for those who are in hot pursuit, running the race.

It will be as if you were running at a moderate pace knowing you could go faster, but couldn't seem to get around those hindering or things that were slowing you down (whether natural or purely spiritual); then suddenly, at a "kairos" moment, you will see the opening and jet for it – moving into a wider place of freedom and speed. Once you have broken out into this place it will be beautiful, wide and fresh, where you can run as if "on air".(Photo via Wikipedia)

Internal Hindrances

Joshua 7:2-11 (summarized) And they returned to Joshua and said to him, "Do not let all the people go up, but let about two or three thousand men go up and attack Ai. Do not weary all the people there, for the people of Ai are few. So about three thousand men went up there from the people, but they fled before the men of Ai. And the men of Ai struck down about thirty six men..." Then Joshua tore his clothes, and fell to the earth on his face before the ark of the Lord until evening... what will You do for Your great name?

So the Lord said to Joshua: "Get up! Why do you lie thus on your face? Israel has sinned, and they have also transgressed My covenant which I commanded them. For they have even taken some of the accursed things, and have both stolen and deceived; and they have also put it among their own stuff..."

Joshua's armies had been defeated before his enemies. He was on his face crying out to God, "Why?" God responds saying, "Get up! There is sin in the camp. That is why you are defeated."

This represents another kind of hindrance that can only be removed by purifying our hearts before God. 

We cannot serve two masters. He is jealous for us. We will be defeated if our hearts are not pure before Him. When our hearts are pure then the authority of God will back us up. We can speak in His Name knowing He will give the victory to us.

Using the Rod of God to Divide the Waters

Exodus 14:11-16 Then they said to Moses, "Because there were no graves in Egypt, have you taken us away to die in the wilderness? Why have you so dealt with us, to bring us up out of Egypt? Is this not the word that we told you in Egypt, saying, 'Let us alone that we may serve the Egyptians'? For it would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than that we should die in the wilderness.' 

And Moses said to the people, "Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which He will accomplish for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall see again no more forever. The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace."

And the Lord said to Moses, "Why do you cry to Me? Tell the children of Israel to go forward. But lift up your rod, and stretch out your hand over the sea and divide it. And the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea." (Photo via Wikipedia)

Looking at the story of Moses where he had led the people of Israel to the Red Sea, it looked like they were going to be destroyed by the Egyptian armies. Moses starts talking about all the wonderful things God is going to do, then God stops Moses saying, "What are you doing? Take the rod and stretch it out over the waters!"

It is important for us to have prayers and petitions, but there is a time to "command" using the rod of God's authority that He has given to us. God told Moses to divide the waters. There are hindrances that we are going to need to command to be "removed". We cannot sit back complacent and apathetic.

Stretch out the rod of God's authority and part the waters, removing the hindrances that keep you back from running at full speed.

U.S. confirms authenticity of video issued by Islamic State showing beheading of Miami-born journalist Steven Sotloff • ISIS warns governments to end "evil alliance of America against the Islamic State" • President Barack Obama: Justice will be served.

Steven Sotloff, the American journalist whose beheading features in a gruesome video issued Tuesday by the Islamic State group, was an Israeli citizen who had lived and studied in Israel. Sotloff, the grandson of Holocaust survivors who immigrated to Florida, came to Israel in 2008 to pursue an undergraduate degree at the Interdisciplinary Center in Herzliya. His Israeli citizenship and Jewishness were suppressed by the media while he was alive in an effort to protect him from his Islamist captors.

Sotloff, 31, was captured by ISIS terrorists in northern Syria last August while working as a freelance journalist and covering the civil war ravaging Syria. His captors were apparently not aware of his Israeli citizenship or his Jewish faith.

"We refused to acknowledge any relationship with him in case it was dangerous for him," said Avi Hoffman, editor of the Jerusalem Report magazine, which had published Sotloff's work.

The Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth, quoting a former fellow captive, said Sotloff had kept his Judaism a secret from the Islamist insurgents, pretending he was sick when he fasted for the Yom Kippur holiday.

The Islamic State group released the video on Tuesday, two weeks after a similar video was released in which American journalist James Foley was also beheaded.

In the video, a masked figure also issued a threat against a British hostage, named as David Haines, and warned governments to back off "this evil alliance of America against the Islamic State," warning against U.S. airstrikes in Iraq.

U.S. President Barack Obama declared on Wednesday that Americans would not be intimidated by the "horrific" IS tactic. He vowed that "justice will be served" after the U.S. verified the authenticity of the video.

Obama said at a news conference while traveling Wednesday in Estonia that Sotloff's and Foley's deaths only unite Americans. He said Americans would not forget and that the country's reach is long.

In the video, the executioner appeared to be the same British-accented man who appeared in the Aug. 19 video featuring Foley, and it showed a similar desert setting. In both videos, the captives wore orange jumpsuits.

"I'm back, Obama, and I'm back because of your arrogant foreign policy toward the Islamic State, because of your insistence on continuing your bombings and in Amerli, Zumar and the Mosul Dam, despite our serious warnings," the masked man said in the video.

"So just as your missiles continue to strike our people, our knife will continue to strike the necks of your people," he said.

In the video, Sotloff describes himself as "paying the price" with his life for the U.S. intervention in Iraq.

On Tuesday, following the release of the video, the White House said that Obama was sending three top officials -- Secretary of State John Kerry, Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel and counterterrorism adviser Lisa Monaco -- to the Middle East "in the near-term to build a stronger regional partnership" against the Islamic State terrorists.

U.S. officials also said Obama had ordered 350 more U.S. military personnel to protect the large American Embassy in Baghdad, bringing up to about 820 the number of U.S. forces working to bolster diplomatic security in Iraq.

"The president has made clear his commitment to doing whatever is required to provide the necessary security for U.S. personnel and facilities around the world," White House spokesman Josh Earnest said in a statement.

"The request he approved today will allow some previously deployed military personnel to depart Iraq, while at the same time providing a more robust, sustainable security force for our personnel and facilities in Baghdad."

The White House said the additional troops heading to Baghdad would not serve in a combat role.

Pentagon spokesman Rear Admiral John Kirby told reporters that as long as ISIS poses a threat to the Mosul Dam, the United States would continue targeting it.

Asked by a reporter to give clear picture about the situation on the ground at the Mosul Dam and why the United States keeps launching airstrikes at that location, Kirby said: "Because [ISIS] keeps trying to take it back. As I said last week, as long as they continue to pose a threat to the facility, we're gonna continue to hit 'em. And we are."

Sotloff's mother, Shirley, appealed last Wednesday for her son's release in a videotaped message to Islamic State's self-proclaimed caliph, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.

In the video it released last month, Islamic State said Foley's death was in retaliation for U.S. airstrikes on its insurgents, who have overrun wide areas of northern Iraq. The United States resumed airstrikes in Iraq in August for the first time since the pullout of U.S. troops in 2011.

The raids followed major gains by Islamic State, which has declared an Islamic caliphate in areas it controls in Syria and Iraq.

Iraq's outgoing foreign minister, Hoshiyar Zebari, condemned "this savage killing ... an example of savagery and evil," and said it was evidence of the need for Iraq and the West to defeat Islamic State.

"We have a common enemy and the whole world is moving in the right direction to stop this savagery and brutality," Zebari said. "The whole world is standing united against [ISIS]. They must be defeated so these horrid scenes will not be repeated."

Iraqi Shiite Muslim politician Sami Askari, who is close to outgoing Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki, said: "They are trying to scare the Americans not to intervene. I don't think Washington will be scared and stop. ... This is evil. Every human being has to fight this phenomenon. Like cancer, there is no cure. You have to fight it."

British Prime Minister David Cameron condemned Sotloff's apparent decapitation as "an absolutely disgusting and despicable act (by) barbaric terrorists." He said he would convene a meeting of his security crisis team on Wednesday.

French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius called the killing a "further illustration of the barbarity without limit of this caliphate of terror that must be fought with the utmost determination."

Obama did not answer questions from reporters as he boarded his helicopter on the White House South Lawn en route to a military base outside Washington, before flying on Air Force One bound for Estonia.

The video triggered new calls from Obama's critics in the U.S. Congress for more decisive action against Islamic State forces. Critics accused the president of dithering after he said last Thursday: "We don't have a strategy yet," to confront the operations of the militant group in Syria.

"Whenever American air power has been employed, in coordination with reliable partners on the ground, [IS] has been devastated. It's a tactic that should be aggressively pursued both in Syria and Iraq," said Sen. Lindsey Graham, a leading Republican voice on foreign policy.

The U.S. military announced its latest air strike on Islamic State forces, saying U.S. aircraft on Monday destroyed or damaged 16 of the group's armed vehicles near the Mosul Dam in northern Iraq.

Sotloff's colleagues described him as a dedicated journalist and gifted writer who had filed in-depth reports from across the Middle East. He covered unrest in Libya for Time Magazine in 2012 before his kidnapping in Syria.

Time Editor Nancy Gibbs said that Sotloff "gave his life so readers would have access to information from some of the most dangerous places in the world."

Filmmaker Matthew VanDyke, a friend of both Sotloff and Foley, said the two had been aware of the dangers in Syria, but their passion to tell the story drove them to accept the peril.

"They believed that the story needed to be told and they weren't going to let the risks stop them," VanDyke said. "They took precautions and, unfortunately, even if you do everything right, sometimes in Syria things go wrong."

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.  John 1:1

 

"In the beginning was the Word...." How did the world begin? God spoke! The entire universe exists because God spoke and it came into being.  Jesus is the Word and when He speaks a word there must be a response.

 

And God said, "Let there be light," and there was light." Genesis 1:3

 

Again, He spoke and then it existed! God's written and spoken word is not void but is full of life, creation, movement, motion and fulfillment. We exist because God spoke. The Earth and all it contains exist because God spoke it into existence. Do you believe this? Do you believe when he speaks a word today it has the same power as it did in creation? His word is just as powerful as the day He spoke and light appeared.

 

Entering into His Word

 

God still speaks light and life into our situations. As His sons and daughters we have close relationship with Him, and therefore, He speaks within that context. When you hear God speak a word to you and you respond, you enter into His living word. His words are filled with life; they contain everything necessary to not only begin, but also complete the promise or prophecy He spoke to you.

 

Picture a word He has spoken to you as a suitcase being handed to you at the outset of a journey. The case holds everything you will need for your entire adventure. It carries the beginning, middle and end result. It has everything that you need in every area that you will need it. Like Mary Poppins' suitcase, keep reaching in even if the bag seems empty, and what your need will be supplied! 

 

Act on His Word

 

When God speaks, we must respond. When you receive what He has spoken as truth, you enter into the fullness of the promise contained within the word. You must both receive and believe His spoken word over your life and then ask what your response is to be. He most likely will have directions included, even if that direction is to wait for the next step to be revealed to you.

 

When the Lord told Moses to stand before Pharaoh and command him to free the Israelites, Moses had to respond. He did not have all the details, but he had received a word, he chose to believe the word, and he returned to Egypt in response to that word.  The word contained all that Moses needed to see his people freed from slavery, but God only revealed what he needed at the moment.  (see Exodus 3)

 

The same is true for us. God speaks to us and we respond. We may not know all of the details but we obey in faith. Remember, His word is not void of life but is living and active and has provision and promises within it.

 

Moses faced obstacle after obstacle as he demanded of Pharaoh, "Let my people go!" When Pharaoh resisted, Moses did not give up but went back for further instructions. When he entered into agreement with the word God had spoken, he also entered into receiving instructions, grace and strength for every aspect of fulfillment of that word.

 

Man does not Live By Bread Alone

 

Jesus answered, "It is written: 'Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.'" Matthew 4:4

 

Life comes from every word that the Lord speaks! Just as our bodies need food to stay healthy and nourished, so does the body of Christ need the word of God to remain healthy and nourished. His word is truth, and gives vision and guidance of how to live our lives. When He speaks to us, whether personally or corporately, things begin to change as we receive His word. Breakthrough begins at the sound of His voice! His voice is like the gun that goes off to mark the beginning of a race. It gives us the permission to go.

 

Be sure to be an active participant when God speaks; passivity does not win the race. His word is sure and announces good tidings. His word makes a way through every obstacle and gives strength to every weary heart. His word feeds the hungry soul and gives sight to blind eyes. His word breaks the heavy yoke and promises favor and success. His word is FULL of everything that you need.

Now is the time to respond to the words that He has spoken into your life! Reach into that word and find all that you need to move forward. Do not let what is "seen" usurp the "unseen."  Reality is what the Father has spoken, whether you can see it or not.
