"The Wrath of My Enemies" ✡ Pray for Israel and the IDF Soldiers Fighting Terror

Though I walk in the midst of trouble, you preserve my life; you stretch out your hand against the wrath of my enemies, and your right hand delivers me.

Today's Israel Inspiration

Over the centuries, not even the most difficult moments have been able to crush the resilient Jewish spirit, as we remember in Psalms that “You preserve my life.” As Palestinian terror attacks grip the Holy Land, brave young Israeli soldiers are head-on battling "the wrath of our enemies." Please pray for the safety of all of the People of Israel and the Israeli soldiers defending the Nation.

Another Denomination Slips Into the Great Falling Away - Jennifer LeClaire

Another Denomination Slips Into the Great Falling Away

Watchman on the Wall, by Jennifer LeClaire

Jennifer LeClaire is now sharing her reflections and revelations through Walking in the Spirit. Listen at charismapodcastnetwork.com.

Apostasy is rising in the body of Christ. Indeed, wheat and the tares are growing up together and it's becoming more apparent which are which. As I've said several times over the past few years, the great falling away is underway.
The latest denomination to fall at Jezebel's hand is the Dutch Reformed Church. In a landmark vote, the church has decided to recognize same-sex relationships. Jesus warned the church not to tolerate the spirit of Jezebel, which teaches and seduces God's servants to commit sexual immorality and engage in idolatry (Rev. 2:20).
The Dutch Reformed Church didn't even put up much of a fight against the depths of Satan (see Rev. 2:24). Sixty-four percent of the church voted in favor of this strong delusion, which also opens the door for ordaining gay ministers without the call to celibacy.
"It is historical because with this decision we actually are at a point where there can be no doubt that the Dutch Reformed Church is serious about human dignity," Dutch Reformed Church moderator Nelis Janse vanRensburg said. "And you know that we are living in this country where we have so many problems with the dignity of people."

The Dutch Reformed Church is a South African denomination that traces its beginnings to the Reformed tradition of the first white settlers who came to South Africa from the Netherlands in the mid-17th century, according to Encyclopedia Britannica. The church claims nearly 1.3 million members in more than 1,200 congregations.
This sad trend is not new. In 2014, four denominations in less than a week defied God's Word. I expect more denominations to fall by the wayside, or break off from their mainline denominations as they embrace doctrines of demons that encourage them to start their own sects of postmodern Christianity that is really not Christianity at all.
Postmodern, or progressive Christianity has a strong focus on social justice and environmentalism. Progressive Christianity focuses on concepts like "collective salvation"—where entire cultures and societies, rather than just individuals with faith in Christ, are redeemed—and bends toward a Marxist economic philosophy. And Progressive Christianity does not subscribe to the biblical doctrine of the inerrancy of Scripture.
Saints, we're seeing 1 Timothy 4:1 playing out right before our very eyes. It's called the Great Apostasy, and it's well-underway. By the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, Paul wrote: "Now the Spirit clearly says that in the last times some will depart from the faith and pay attention to seducing spirits and doctrines of devils."
Back in 2012, I wrote an article titled, "Is the Great Falling Away Already Underway?" In it, I explained that some have indeed departed from the faith because they have engaged with deceiving spirits and embraced doctrines of devils. We've witnessed more than one man of God with a major ministry platform bow a knee to doctrines like universalism, deceiving and being deceived with this deadly heresy. Despite many in the church lifting their voices against heretical teachings, these deceived ministers hold fast to their demonic doctrine.
That's why I am praying for a third Great Awakening. I am committed to crying out to God to see a cultural transformation—a spiritual revolution.
Although the Great Falling Away is going to happen because it's prophesied in Scripture, I am contending for a revival—a Great Awakening—that will sweep through the nation and cause people to turn back to God. I will not give up. The arm of the Lord is not too short to save, nor His ear too dull to hear (Is. 59:1).
Before each of the last Great Awakenings, people of God thought it was hopeless—and they didn't see the half of what we're seeing. But I am convinced God wants to turn this around—and I am convinced God can turn this around. Nothing is impossible with God (Luke 1:37).
The Great Falling Away is underway and will continue—you can't pray away end-time prophecy—but that doesn't mean we should not contend to the end. Great Awakening is our only hope for this nation and could ultimately save hundreds of thousands from the clutches of eternal death. Will you join me in praying for another Great Awakening?

Israelis: Frustrated and Scared, but Strong and Resilient

Israelis: Frustrated and Scared, but Strong and Resilient

Standing With Israel

This week, I had that very uncomfortable and awkward conversation with one of my kids. Actually, I had the same conversation with most of my kids.
No, not that conversation. We talked about the situation of increased terror, heightened tension and fear that's been plaguing our lives in Israel these past weeks and for which there seems to be no end in sight.
At different levels, each of my kids and I discussed the overall situation. One daughter going off to college and who normally travels through a part of Samaria with large concentration of Palestinian Arabs didn't need me to tell her that it wasn't safe and she should go the longer, safer, way. Usually, she pushes back and resists my telling her not to drive that way, noting, "It's our land and our country, and we can go anywhere we want."
Of course I know she's right, and I am proud that I am raising her and her siblings in Israel to appreciate this reality. But as her father, I am still responsible for her safety and well-being. It's a conflict I don't relish, but am glad in this case she didn't argue with me.
Because I have been traveling abroad, another daughter felt the need to recount the week's victim list and locations of terror attacks in case I wasn't aware what was going on. On one hand, it's considered "normal" for Palestinian Arabs to attack Israelis in Judea and Samaria where we live, but she was shocked that Arabs, many of whom are Israeli Arabs, are attacking us in Tel Aviv, Kiryat Gat, Beersheba, Afula, Hadera, Nazareth and not to mention Jerusalem and other parts of the Galilee. I had heard of most of the instances but let her continue because it seemed therapeutic.
In discussing walking around Jerusalem, the same daughter understood that she needs to avoid talking on her phone—something teenagers have a hard time doing as it is—in order that she should be aware of her surroundings. Then she said, "Don't worry Abba, I'm so scared to walk around that I am going to be looking at everyone as if they were a terrorist."
The same day, my youngest son matter-of-factly told me that his friend in a nearby town had a hard time getting to basketball practice because there was a terrorist in his community and the whole town had been shut down with nobody allowed in or out.
Since I was traveling, I told my wife where I keep the extra pepper spray, which probably won't do much anyway, but can't hurt. She related to me running errands in Jerusalem and feeling uncomfortable around all the Arabs, knowing full well that most were harmless, but that these days one with a knife makes them all suspect. We're not racist, just careful.
These are the "normal" conversations we've been having that serve as part venting, part therapy and part just catching up on "What'd you do today?" In short, as one blogger put it, we are frustrated, scared and feeling helpless. I have an extra measure of guilt being overseas and away from the family.
In our community, notices went out to have everyone save the emergency services number in their phones as the first contact. We've been told to discuss security precautions with our family. Some suggestions include:
  • Be alert to anything suspicious and report suspicious behavior or situations.
  • Car windows should be made of plastic, resistant to stone throwing.
  • If you legally own a gun, carry it at all times.
  • Buy pepper spray for you and your teenagers, and learn how and when to use it.
  • Familiarize yourself with the laws of appropriate use of force and how to respond in specific instances:
For Stoning, Molotov Cocktail and Shooting
  • In a dangerous situation, keep driving with two hands on the steering wheel until you are in a safe area.
  • Call and report the location of the incident.
  • When you reach the nearest army checkpoint, or entrance of the nearest community, report the incident again.
For Shooting From a Passing Car
  • If you see a suspicious car trying to pass you in an attempt to shoot, drive faster to create a greater distance between you and the car.
  • In the case of a passing car that cannot be avoided, brake in order to interfere with his ability to shoot accurately.
  • As soon as you have stopped, quickly turn the car around and drive away as fast as you can.
For a Rock Roadblock
  • Avoid driving over the roadblock. Your car may turn over or the car might get stuck or stopped.
  • If you cannot drive around the roadblock, brake before it and then drive away from the dangerous area.
  • The car is damaged and cannot be driven, leave the car and get away as fast as you can by foot.
Preventing Carjacking
  • Lock your car doors when you leave your community.
  • Avoid stopping in or close to Arab villages, including fruit and vegetable stands along the road.
  • When travelling on roads that are more prone to attacks, do not travel alone; wait for more cars and travel in a convoy
  • Try to travel with at least two passengers carrying guns.
Various self-defense organizations, such as the Israeli Counter Terror and Security Academy, are promoting an increase of security precautions. They offer the following courses at discounted prices:
  • Krav Maga for children, youth and adults, women and girls
  • The sale of and proper use of pepper spray
  • Basic and advanced shooting (pistol) courses
  • Safety and security awareness
  • Defensive driving in dangerous situations
  • And sales of self-defense items such as pepper spray and "shockers" as well as weapons and ammunition to those who are qualified.
Yes, Israel is weary, frustrated, scared and feeling helpless. But we derive strength and comfort from knowing that it is by divine promise that we have returned to our land, and that the God of Israel still protects us. Our response is not more violence, but prayer.
When my wife dropped off our son at school one day, the entire school—several hundred students and all the faculty—was outside singing Psalms, blowing shofars and calling out to God to continue to protect us and foil the plots of those who wish to harm us. Seeing and experiencing this, she broke into tears, leaving the person on the phone whom she was talking to think she had lost it.
I'm on my way home and will join in the prayers and active parenting. I will be more careful and be more aware of my surroundings and of my kids' needs.
But we will continue to win, to overcome, to survive, and to live and thrive because, though God may not have promised us that it would be easy, He did promise us that we would return and thrive. We will survive with strength and resilience.
Please join us in solidarity, in prayer and support of Israel at this challenging and stressful time.

Israel: Cabinet Okays More Counterterrorism Measure

Israel: Cabinet Okays More Counterterrorism Measure

AP file photo
JERUSALEM, Israel -- Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reconvened the Security Cabinet Tuesday evening following a short afternoon recess, working well past midnight to come up with additional counterterrorism measures.
Early Wednesday, the IDF announced a troop deployment to back up police units.
"In accordance to the directive of the Security Cabinet, the IDF is preparing to deploy 6 companies to reinforce the Israel Police. The additional forces are expected to join police forces later today," the statement read.
The cabinet approved several additions to counterterrorism measures, including the following.
  • Israel Police may close off or surround centers of friction or incitement in Jerusalem in accordance with security considerations.
  • No new construction will be allowed on the site of a demolished terrorist's home. (This stops the Palestinian Authority from building them a nicer home, like a prize, in the same spot.)
  • The property of terrorists who perpetrate attacks will be confiscated and their residency rights revoked.
  • An additional 300 security guards will be recruited and trained to protect public transportation sites in the capital, an 80 million shekel investment.
On Wednesday, Israel Police set up checkpoints at the entrance of predominantly Arab neighborhoods in the city's eastern sector.
The Security Cabinet will reconvene Wednesday afternoon to deal with additional issues, including incitement.
Meanwhile, at Monday's opening of the Knesset's winter session, Netanyahu quoted Exodus 1:12.
"A hundred years of terrorism, a hundred years in which they have tried to destroy the institution of Zionism and yet our enemies haven't learned," Netanyahu told Israeli parliamentarians.
"Terrorism will not defeat us, in fact just the opposite. 'The more they afflicted them, the more they multiplied and grew,'" he said, citing verse 12 in the first chapter of Exodus.
On Tuesday, Secretary of State John Kerry said he's planning a trip to the regions to try to restore calm.
"I will go there soon, at some point appropriately, and try to work to reengage and see if we can't move that away from this precipice," Kerry said at an event sponsored by the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs at Harvard’s Kennedy School, YNet reported. “This violence and any incitement to violence have got to stop.”
