"You're A Messenger of Courage: For Such A Time As This" by Joey LeTourneau - The Elijah List

"And the Angel of the Lord appeared to him, and said to him, 'The Lord is with you, you mighty man of valor!'" Judges 6:12
"Rejoice, highly favored one, the Lord is with you; blessed are you among women!" Luke 1:28
As happened with Gideon and Mary in these two instances, my heart has been pulled for the courage rising up within God's children to step into their purpose and calling. It's not just any courage, but a kairos kind of courage that empowers us to leap beyond the hope of our calling and into its appointed time of action and fruitfulness.
It's a crossing over of the mind, and an empowerment of the heart to fully believe, fully receive, and then to seize the purposes and promises we've prayed and waited for as the moment arises.
The last few weeks I've found myself sharing about a quote I hadn't recalled in a long time, from a movie called "We Bought A Zoo." I believe the words are very relevant to us in this time as we learn to seize what God has placed before us:
"You know, sometimes all you need is twenty seconds of insane courage. Just literally twenty seconds of just embarrassing bravery. And I promise you, something great will come of it." (We Bought A Zoo)
I believe this is a now word for you and me. We are being presented "suddenly" moments, for such a time as this, to step into a breakthrough that is bigger than our hope can comprehend.
These might be moments that look like immense risk or require vulnerability, but we have to seize that incoming wave at the opportune time with fresh courage. (Photo via Wikipedia)
We must realize the breakthrough starts within us – so it can be brought to life all around us – by stepping outside our comfort zone and recognizing the new thing that He is doing now.
Breaking Out of Our Comfort Zone
"I will do a new thing, now it shall spring forth; shall you not know it?" Isaiah 43:19
Often, the hardest thing about receiving something new for us is that it almost always requires something new of us. Those new breaker waves we pray and believe for rarely flow through our familiar comfort zone. They don't stay within our boundaries or control, rather, they are the move of His Spirit calling us to jump outside our self-imposed box and ride the wave of a lifetime.
The above verse from Isaiah is quoted frequently, even hung as a banner to declare the new thing God is ready to do. But how often do we leave off that last part? How often do we turn a deaf ear to the question the Spirit asks us each day when He inquires, "Shall you not know it?"
Will we know the new thing God is doing in, through and around us? Will we recognize His fresh move, beyond our insecurities, critiques or judgments? Will we be able to embrace the very thing we've been praying for when it passes by just outside familiar waters?
If we will, it will take courage.

ElijahList Prophetic Resources

It will require us to be lion-hearted, found among those through the ages who have – like Gideon – lived a courage that is not so much about a valiant charge into battle but about a radical step of obedience that joins God in what He is now doing.
Your Messenger of Courage
The Lord doesn't just send us into such a leap out onto the waters without equipping us.
Like with Gideon and Mary, there are different times throughout Scripture where we see the Lord send a messenger to one of His chosen ones to call them over the chasm that lies between the promises they hope for and the purpose they are created to live.
God goes all in to help us be who He has created us to be, and to prove it, He sends us messengers of courage to strengthen our leap.
"Now the Angel of the Lord came and sat under the terebinth tree...Gideon threshed wheat in the winepress...And the Angel of the Lord appeared to him, and said to him, 'The Lord is with you, you mighty man of valor!'" Judges 6:11-12
"Now in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. The virgin's name was Mary. 'Rejoice, highly favored one, the Lord is with you; blessed are you among women!'" Luke 1:26-28
Gideon was addressed as "mighty man of valor." Mary as "highly favored one." It is not coincidence that God called them by such terms not after they completed their purpose, but before. This is how they were addressed from the outset; then God called them to step into the appointed time of their destiny.
You have a Messenger of Courage within you, a Helper, the Spirit of Truth, and He is calling to you like He did Gideon and Mary, already addressing you as beloved and a victor, not just hopeful of such.
He wants to visit you, meet you, and call to the courage He already sees within you. He wants you to see yourself as He does, and He is imparting to you the courage necessary to leap out and seize the moment that is only just beyond your reach.

The Lord has aligned timing. He has aligned circumstances. He is calling you by a powerful name like "Mighty" or "Favored" to remind you who you are in Him, and that He is with you. For when you know who you are, you'll also know what you are supposed to do.
He calls you by your identity before you discover your victory. So, what is your messenger of courage saying over you?
"Blessed is she who believed, for there will be a fulfillment of those things which were told her from the Lord." Luke 1:45

I Am Releasing My Glory Through Rough, Unpolished Diamonds In The Earth - Bill Yount

                                Rough and Uncut, finished diamonds

I Am Releasing My Glory

Through Rough, Unpolished Diamonds In The Earth

Posted: 25 Oct 2015  BILL YOUNT

Diamonds In The Rough Are Rising In Demand In The Jewelry Market and In God's Kingdom.

I read an article published by The Wall Street Journal with the title, "'Rough' diamonds -- some looking more like gravel than gems -- edge into the jewelry market." Here are some excerpts taken from that article, "A new look in diamond jewelry is on the rise...Known as rough diamonds, these are the stones in their natural state, before they've been cut with the facets that give diamonds the sparkle, brilliance and clarity they are known for...Luxury consumers are maturing "beyond the 'look at me' phase."

As I read this article I sensed the Father saying, "I'll buy that. Many of My people have hindered My glory from moving throughout the earth. They have become enamored with perfection, waiting to be cut just perfectly before they think the world will see Me in them. Many have become like diamonds waiting to be cut and polished until no earthly resemblance is left in them. Many then get stranded inside of My house thinking if they go into the world, something earthly could stain and cause My shine to fade."

"But now, I am releasing My glory into the earth as I release My diamonds in the rough. Many of these vessels who seem more 'earthy' than others will begin to shine even brighter as My glory pierces through these cracked and seemingly broken vessels. The defects in some earthen vessels will actually give way to more of My glory shining through them."

The most valuable fine cut diamonds in the world can only be seen in museums under lock and key and can never be touched by human hands. Diamonds in the "rough" can turn up anywhere and can be touched by anyone. Be careful who you think has a lot of earth left in them after they are redeemed...there may be a larger diamond under all that earth!

2 Corinthians 4:7, "If you only look at us, you might well miss the brightness. We carry this precious Message around in the unadorned clay pots of our ordinary lives. That's to prevent anyone from confusing God's incomparable power with us. As it is, there's not much chance of that. You know for yourselves that we're not much to look at..." ( Message Bible )

Oprah Winfrey's 'Belief': Millions of Ways to God? - CHARISMA NEWS

Oprah Winfrey's 'Belief': Millions of Ways to God?

Oprah Winfrey makes headlines whenever she's in the news. For instance, the share price of Weight Watchers International more than doubled after she announced that she is buying ten percent of the company and joining its board.
Now she's back in the headlines with Belief, a miniseries that began October 18 and continues through October 24. According to Jonathan Merritt, a respected evangelical journalist, "Belief allows the message and core tenets of every religion to shine through in a way that honors them while remaining honest. Even the most exclusivist believers will find something to love in this epic spiritual series."

Leith Anderson and other evangelical leaders approve the way Belief characterizes their faith. Other leaders seem to feel the same way about their religious tradition.

Of course, Oprah's own spiritual eclecticism shines through as well. She once claimed that there are "many paths to what you call God." She has endorsed Deepak Chopra, Eckhart Tolle, and other New Age gurus. (For more on Oprah Winfrey's faith, see Janet Denison's Who's Right: Stephen Colbert or Oprah?)

In the second episode of Belief we're told that "our planet is home to countless religions, and nearly every one of those faiths asks us to love—love your God, your family, your neighbor." It's this generic, "faith is whatever you believe it to be" element that concerns me most. Do-it-yourself spirituality certainly did not originate with Oprah Winfrey. Rather, her miniseries reflects a trend that has been growing in popularity for decades.

Commenting on Belief, Diana Butler Bass claims in The Washington Post that "we are living through a period of intense spiritual democratization. In all the world's religions, older forms of remote and hierarchical authority—not to mention the very idea of a distant and monarch-like God—are being challenged by ordinary people as they pray, worship, walk pilgrimages, and seek the divine in nature and neighborhoods."

As a result, according to Bass, "Across the planet, people are taking responsibility for their own versions of meaning and, in the process, are remaking faith in ways that are more inclusive, more personal, more connected to the natural world, and more attentive to their community."

She calls this movement "nothing less than a global spiritual revolution" and declares, "All around the world, people are discovering that God—or the gods, or the Goddess, or the spirit of awe—is nearer than has often been taught and that the divine can be accessed by anyone anywhere." Bass is convinced that "human beings can trust themselves to find God and grace wherever the sacred might be discerned."

So people are to take responsibility for "their own versions of meaning" and "trust themselves to find God." This reasoning sounds attractive, but would it work for medicine? Engineering? The law?

If Bass is right, Jesus was wrong: "I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me" (John 14:6). Oprah Winfrey's Belief powerfully narrates some of humanity's faith traditions. But if the miniseries leads even one person from "the Truth" to "my truth," it replaces the physician with the patient.

God gave us only one key to heaven, because His key works for everyone who uses it.

ISIS Jihadi Threatens Israelis in Hebrew - CBN NEWS

ISIS Jihadi Threatens Israelis in Hebrew

Screen Capture
JERUSALEM, Israel -- The Islamic State aired its first Hebrew-language video on social media Friday morning.
Entitled, "A message to the Jews, the first enemy of the Muslims," the narrator, his face hidden under a black mask with only slits for his eyes, begins.
"To all the Jews who conquered the land of the Muslims, the real war has not yet started. All that you had before this was child's play compared to what is going to happen to you in the near future, Allah willing," he says, according to a YNet translation.
"Do whatever you want in the meantime until we reach you. Then we will make you pay back 10 times for all the crimes you've committed, and we assure you that soon there will not be a single Jew in Jerusalem and throughout the country and we shall move on until we eradicate this disease worldwide," he says.
"Look what happened to you after several vehicular attacks carried out by our Palestinian brothers. You flipped out after the first one and you feared all fast drivers. You even feared anyone carrying something in his hand. This is just your level," he continues.
His claim that Israelis have "flipped out" falls short of the reality, where day-to-day life continues despite the attacks.
With each terror attack, the Israel Defense Forces provides details as soon as they're confirmed. And the latest upsurge in violence is not by any means the country's first experience with terrorism, and most are handling it much better than the narrator would like. He still seeks to instill fear in what he threatens is coming.
"Think even for a few seconds what will happen to you when tens of thousands, Allah willing, come after you from all over the world to slaughter you and throw you into the trash for good. Aside from the vehicles and bombs, the smallest child is ready to get on this car and send you straight to hell," he says in typical Islamic rhetoric.
In similar rhetoric to Iran's Ayatollah Khamenei and Hezbollah's Hassan Nasrallah, he promises that ISIS will wipe Israel off the map.
"We are advancing toward you from the north, the south, Sinai and Damascus. From all over the world we will come after you to finish you off," he says, ending the tirade in Arabic with a butcher knife in hand.
In related news, the IDF lifted a gag order Sunday morning on a 23-year-old Israeli Arab from the town of Jaljulya in Samaria who used a hand glider to cross into Syria from the Golan Heights on Saturday, presumably to join ISIS.
The Golan Heights is a popular spot for hand gliding so it was unclear initially if someone had gone off course. As soon as the hand glider was spotted, the IDF began a search-and-rescue operation using helicopters, drones and ground troops.
On Sunday, the IDF confirmed their findings and the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) launched an investigation to determine if ISIS' newest recruit had ties with other Islamic terror groups.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu strongly recommended revoking his Israeli citizenship.

Life in Jerusalem, Through a Foreigner’s Eyes - ISRAEL TODAY

Life in Jerusalem, Through a Foreigner’s Eyes

Monday, October 26, 2015 |  Theresa Jensen  ISRAEL TODAY
It’s a beautiful Shabbat morning in Jerusalem. Children are happy and all is peaceful in our neighborhood. We have been in Jerusalem three weeks, arriving from Seattle, Washington.
Little did we know when we arrived that we would witness the fear, confusion and horror of unbelievable acts of terror on a daily basis. Innocent civilians and soldiers, attacked with knives and run over by vehicles, as they went about their daily activities. Those injured were children; someone’s father, mother, brother, sister, spouse or friend. Fear and apprehension showing on the face of each person we pass on the street.
Twice we were in locations where an attack had just taken place. One at the central bus station in Jerusalem and the other time when three separate events occurred on Jaffa Street. We witnessed the chaos resulting from these brutal attacks; people rushing to get out of the area. Employees in the shops along Jaffa Street fearing for their lives.
We also heard from parents whose children were summoned by the government to report for military duty. Their children have already completed their time in the military and are now part of the reserve forces. They were summoned to defend and protect those who wore an “invisible” target on their back just because they happen to be Jewish.
The news broadcasts outside of Israel have been disgusting. The media implies that Israel provoked this violence, downplaying these senseless and brutal acts of murder.
We are honored to stand with Israel in this horrible time in their history.
Our landlady was convinced we would leave the first week of our arrival due to the “situation.” When we told her we had no intention of leaving she was so touched. She was sure we would want to go. We told her that is exactly what the terrorists want us to do; we will not leave, rather we will show the people of Israel they are not alone.
Everywhere we go we share that the people of the United States are strong supporters of Israel. We honor those that God calls “the apple of His eye.”
