Obama rules out Israeli-Palestinian peace deal before leaving office

 November 6, 2015

US officials say president has made ‘realistic assessment’; will discuss steps to prevent further violence with Netanyahu on Monday.

US officials said Thursday that President Barack Obama has made a “realistic assessment” that a peace deal between Israelis and Palestinians is not possible during his final months in office.

The stark assessment comes ahead of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s visit to the White House on Monday — the first meeting between the two leaders in more than a year. Preparation for that meeting has been overshadowed by Netanyahu’s appointment of a new media chief, Ran Baratz, who has previously branded Obama an anti-Semite and mocked Secretary of State John Kerry. Netanyahu was Thursday night said to have told Kerry that he was reviewing the appointment.

Officials said the two leaders will discuss steps to prevent a confrontation between the parties in the absence of a two-state solution. They said that while Obama remains committed to a two-state solution between Israelis and Palestinians, he does not believe it’s possible before he leaves office in January 2017, barring a major shift.

White House Deputy National Security Adviser Ben Rhodes told Israeli reporters that the president would want to hear from Netanyahu on Monday ways in which the prime minister will seek to keep a two-state solution viable even in the absence of direct negotiations. Rhodes said Obama regards a two-state solution as urgent, and reiterated the US stance that settlement building undermines faith in the diplomatic process and delays such a solution.

“The main thing the president would want to hear from Netanyahu is that, without peace talks, how does he want to move forward to prevent a one-state solution, stabilize the situation on the ground and to signal he is committed to the two-state solution,” said Rob Malley, the president’s senior adviser on the Middle East, according to Haaretz.

The president expects that Netanyahu will take trust-building steps that “leave the door open for a two-state solution,” Malley said, without elaborating. “We said for some time that we expect from both parties to show that they are committed to a two-state solution. We would expect they take steps that are consistent with that,” Malley said.

A wave of Israeli-Palestinian violence, marked by dozens of Palestinian stabbing attacks on Israelis, broke out two months ago; clashes at Jerusalem’s contested Temple Mount have been followed by Palestinian terror attacks across Israel and into the West Bank, and Palestinian-Israeli clashes in the West Bank and at the border with the Gaza Strip.

At a press conference last month, Obama reiterated his long-held conviction that the only way Israel would be secure, and the Palestinians would meet their aspirations, was via a two-state solution. He indicated then, but did not spell out, that the US was not about to start a new peace effort, saying “it’s going to be up to the parties” to do that, “and we stand ready to assist.”

Kerry sought to broker an accord in 2013-2014, but the effort collapsed amid a stream of bitter accusations and recriminations between the sides.

With no realistic prospect of substantial negotiated progress, the Obama administration is said to remain determined to keep the idea of a two-state solution viable, and it is understood the president and the prime minister will discuss possible steps in that direction.

The two leaders will likely discuss means to prevent a further deterioration on the ground, including how to thwart further terrorism; tackle incitement more effectively; deal with the strained Palestinian Authority; and safeguard Israeli-Jordanian relations.

No meeting is known to be scheduled for the near future between Obama and PA President Mahmoud Abbas.

The two leaders are also expected to announce that their allied countries are at work on a new long-term agreement for US defense assistance to Israel. The current 10-year framework, which provided for over $30 billion in US military aid, expires in 2018, and there has been talk of a new 10-year framework valued at $40-50 billion in total.

Obama and Netanyahu are expected to discuss commitments that could see Israel get more than the 33 hi-tech F-35 jets already ordered, precision munitions and a chance to buy V-22 Ospreys and other weapons systems designed to ensure Israel’s military edge over its neighbors.

The weapons said to be under discussion reflect the prominence of Iran in US and Israeli military thinking.

The F-35 is the only aircraft able to counter the S-300 surface-to-air missile system that Russia has suggested it may sell to Tehran.

Officials said Israel may also seek to ensure that other US allies in the region do not get the F-35.

The White House has so far rebuffed Arab Gulf states’ requests to buy the planes.

But while Israel has been offered some bunker-busting bombs, divisions over how to handle Tehran may put the sale of 30,000 pound “Massive Ordnance Penetrators” that could be used to target Iranian nuclear sites off the table.

“This is not something that has been raised in the context of the MoU discussions,” said senior Obama national security aide Ben Rhodes, referring to the deal, known formally as a memorandum of understanding.

Military experts say Israel’s lack of bunker-busting capability has limited Netanyahu’s ability to launch a unilateral strike against Iran, effectively giving Washington a veto over military action.

The visit, Rhodes said, “would be an opportunity to discuss and hear from Israel its assessment of its security challenges and the related security needs it has… whether it is something like the F-35 or a variety of others.”

Obama and Netanyahu will be meeting face-to-face for the first time since the US and its partners reached a nuclear accord with Iran. Netanyahu has been a chief critic of the deal.

On that vexed issue, the meeting could mark the day when Netanyahu finally engages with the administration on the practical implications of the deal, enabling the two sides to get down to work coordinating their positions on countering the threats posed by an emboldened and soon-to-be wealthier Iran, and on the appropriate responses to possible Iranian violations of the deal.

Suicidal and 'Deep in Sin,' Nickelodeon Star Reveals How He Found Faith

In 2004, former Nickelodeon teen star Kel Mitchell says his life was falling apart as his marriage to Tyisha Hampton was ending.
"I felt like I'd hit a wall," Mitchell, 37, told PEOPLE. "I was like, 'Okay. I need to figure out what I need to do in my life.'"
While dealing with his divorce, Mitchell says he had encountered a "confusion moment" in his life.
"I have been through so many ups and downs in my life," Mitchell wrote on hisblog. "Suicidal, divorce, drug and alcohol usage, deep in sin, dealing with the loss of loved ones to gang violence, debt, hurt, pain, vanity, lust, heartbreak, feeling LOST looking for answers."
At that time, the former star of Nickelodeon's All That says he decided to return to the faith he learned while growing up on the South Side of Chicago where his grandfather was a pastor.
"I was trying to figure it all out on my own. But what I needed to do was turn to Him," says Mitchell, who now stars in the new Nickelodeon sitcom Game Shakers. "Once I found that clarity with Christ, I knew everything would work out."
Today, Mitchell says he's found "peace" thanks to God.
"I enjoy living this life," Mitchell says. "I don't let things frustrate or worry me anymore. I don't do that because I have peace in my heart. I have God."

The story of God’s selection of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and the origins of the Jewish nation, is a timeless one. Though God’s promise to Abraham to redeem his children from Egypt was indeed fulfilled, the story does not end there; it continues to unfold over thousands of years.  God made an eternal promise to the Jewish people: there will be many difficult times along the way but, as promised to Abraham, the Jewish people will be a great nation, a nation that will reside in the Land of Israel. 'God's Not Dead 2' Puts Faith on Trial - TREVOR PACELLI/MOVIEGUIDE, CHARISMA NEWS

'God's Not Dead 2' Puts Faith on Trial

Join us on our podcast each weekday for an interesting story, well told, from Charisma News. Listen at charismapodcastnetwork.com.

Does it ever seem like the speaking voices of the church have become vanquished because of how prejudiced most of the world is? It has become a pressing issue in America within the past century; people get beaten, raped, murdered, arrested and abandoned due to issues on freedom of speech and religion. Now director Harold Cronk asks the world, "What's really at risk here?"
In 2014, God's Not Dead made a successful run in theaters, earning over $60 million at the box office. This movie finally offered the needed inspiration and hope to all those who felt like they didn't have the voice nor the courage to stand up against the seemingly more powerful authority. It gave that little push forward that the public needed, as told through a seemingly ordinary college student who was not afraid to take a stand for Christ against the educational system.
Now in Cronk's sequel, God's Not Dead 2, he transports the matter from the classroom to the courtroom, a move that Newsboy Duncan Phillips says, "was a very natural progression in that sense."
In this sequel, a high school teacher compares the teachings of Gandhi and Martin Luther King Jr. to those of Jesus, an association that quickly causes the nation to erupt from hearing the Lord's name muttered in an educational setting.
The actress portraying this teacher, Melissa Joan Hart, compares this role to that of a great skin care line that she wanted to share with everyone, and ultimately argues, "Why wouldn't I do that with something that I found that brings me joy and comfort and peace?"
Much like Pure Flix Production's previous hit, God's Not Dead 2 asks further complicated questions that challenge one's faith in Christ our Father, such as: "Would you be willing to put God above the law and risk losing everything for His sake?"
The most common answer would probably be no, but Jesus never accepted that answer, even though it meant execution on a cross. It is a tough thing, which is why God's Not Dead 2 is going to be exactly the push that everyone needs to pursue shining the light of Christ towards all tribes and nations. God's Not Dead opens everywhere on April 1, 2016.

Invisible to the World but Known to God by Steve Porter - Identity Network

Invisible to the World but Known to God by Steve Porter

Identity Network
According to the world's system, our visibility or value to others is determined by who we know or what others can do for us - it's all about networking and connections. Not so in the economy of God. In the Kingdom it's about knowing Christ, adoring Him, and being content to rest at His beautiful feet while building God an intimate House of Devotion, to the exclusion of all else.

Do you feel invisible to others? If so, take heart, because God knows your name. When you're invisible to others and no one knows your name, choose to be content to worship before an audience of One, because it's in that place that God will equip you for your destiny and whatever ministry He has for you.

Scripture says our ways are not God's. In fact, He often does things in ways that seem illogical to our human understanding. Case in point: it's not about rubbing shoulders with those who can open doors for us; nor is it about hoping and praying someone will notice our special talents. Sadly, we often see people trying to climb the ladder in the flesh, even within the church. And while some may be discovered by those who help them up and out, it's not that way for you. Any kingdom built by man will fall, while only those built and established by God will stand. Any kingdom built by man will suffer loss, the chaff burned because it wasn't God at all.

Psalm 127:1 says this: "Unless Jehovah build the house, in vain do its builders labor in it; unless Jehovah keep the city, the keeper watcheth in vain."

According to the Kingdom of God

Build your ministry according to the Kingdom of God, not according to the dictates of the world. Time spent alone in His presence is never wasted but wisely invested. You see, it is in the waiting that He prepares us to fulfill our destiny. The Lord will purify our motives when we are alone in His presence unnoticed by man until we no longer care who knows our names or how popular we become. We are too busy worshiping the FAMOUS ONE - JESUS.

If we are passionate about Him and submit to His leading He transforms us, helping us die to our old desires and motivations, so we can live and move and have our being in Him alone. In fact, He says that until we die to our old nature and even our gifts, and submit to Him, we get in His way, hindering Him from moving as He desires. So how do we do that? We ask Him to open our eyes to see where we've been deceived and are content, stuck in preconceived notions that are not of Him - where we hold on to opinions that must go if we are to become that bride in white garments. Until we let go of all the things that our "old man" brought into the relationship, we drag garments of flesh with us, coloring everything we do and say.

It is not about getting a million Facebook likes or a big name promoting our ministry name. It's about being transformed in the secret place, so that we see through heaven's eyes instead of the eyes of the flesh. It is about asking Him for His point of view and moving in harmony with His Spirit.

Early on in ministry I sent out letters to hundreds of churches hoping someone would invite me to speak. Few responded. As you can imagine, I felt confused, trying to discern what it meant to be a wise steward of my gifts and callings, and whether or not I was to promote my ministry. In nearly twenty-three years since that time I've learned that the best approach is to hide in the secret place and become desperate for God, because then He will move us and bring us into our destiny.

I have found if we focus on His face people will then seek us out because we carry something special. If you carry the goods people will pursue you! When all is said and done, the world's approach leads to feelings of hopelessness and desperation that motivate us to operate in the flesh, while God builds a kingdom inside of us that reflects His character, where He alone makes the connections that will produce real, life-changing fruit in us and everyone we meet. He can place you at the right place...at the right time...that will surpass anything you do in your own ability.

The Bridegroom Knows Your Name

At the end of this process He will get the glory for our rise to fulfill our God-given destiny, and man will get no credit for placing us into our promise. In human terms, it's not who we know - it's knowing Christ and being content to love Him and follow His lead wherever it takes us. If He keeps you hidden away for a lifetime, all is not lost. Having your name known in heaven is worth more than millions singing your praises on Earth.

As you sit back and watch others in the body of Christ climbing the ladder, leaving you behind, choose to rest in His good plan, refusing to be desperate or antsy. He has you right where He wants you. Stop looking to people to promote you, and be like King David, who sang and worshiped with all his heart before an audience of One.

Hold on to the incredible truth that you are hidden away in the garden of the Lord. Your heavenly Bridegroom knows your name, and His sweet presence embraces you with such tenderness and love that man's ways pale in comparison. Even if your name is never shouted from the rooftops on Earth, you can rest as you hear your Bridegroom tenderly whisper your name in the secret place.

His whisper touches your heart, reminding you that, like a pearl of great price, He is all you need. He is altogether lovely. He alone satisfies your soul and fills it with His good treasures, enabling you to live out His desires and to ultimately fulfill His incredible plan for your life.

"If you build God a house of devotion, He will build you a house of ministry." - Walter Beuttler

"Bob Jones' 1985 'Kansas City Royals' Prophecy Stirs Hope for Revival" - Jennifer LeClaire, The Elijah List

The Kansas City Royals rallied to win the World Series on Sunday, and many in Kansas City and beyond are shouting for joy—even if they are not hardcore baseball fans. That's because they are believing the prophets and hoping to prosper.
Indeed, the win was not only significant because it was the first time in 30 years the Royals took home the championship; it's significant because it fulfills a string of prophecies and stirs hope in the hearts of many contending for revival in Kansas City and America.
Mike Bickle, director of the International House of Prayer in Kansas City (IHOPKC), shares a Bob Jones prophecy in the ministry's prophetic history. He explains that Jones prophesied during the 1985 World Series:
"God, the Holy Spirit is going to create worldwide attention to be focused on Kansas City ... That's the good news. Here's the bad news. The Lord is going to do it through the baseball game.
"It looks like Kansas City is down and out and will never make it and suddenly at 5 till 12 the Lord brings the victory in. That's the spiritual message over this movement breaking forth in this city.

When it looks like it is five till twelve and Kansas City is counted out. Suddenly at 5 till 12 the Lord's breaking in victory."

(Photo via Charisma)
Later, Jones told Bickle: "I heard it! I heard it out loud. I heard it in my dream. I heard the voice of the Lord. It spoke resounding. I heard it very clear. The Lord said, 'Eleven is the number because it's the 11th hour victory. It's the 11th hour victory He's going to give Kansas City."
The 1985 match went down in baseball history as the "Miracle World Series" because it looked hopeless. From the outside looking in, it didn't appear there was any way the Royals were going to pull out a victory. Kansas City was down three games to one and had to win four in a row to take the crown. Thirty years ago, Jones went on to tell Bickle:
"You're going to be counted out many times by people and at 5 till 12, in the 11th hour, the Lord is going to break through and this prayer movement is going to succeed and it's going to get the attention of the entire earth. This is going to happen. You wait and watch the baseball league."
Of course, this was long before IHOPKC was going hard 24/7 with worship and prayer. It was before a generation of youth started contending for revival. And this was before Bob Hartley, founder of Hartley Institute/Deeper Waters Ministry in Kansas City, had six dreams about the drama of the Kansas City Royals. Here's the bottom line of those prophetic encounters:
"Watch the Royals, because after many years of disappointment, the Royal ones are entering into a time of Numbers 27:18-23, where they are being commissioned to enter into the promises. Watch them, as they will win and bring a shift from hopelessness to hope ... This is going to be like 1985. Do you remember what brought them home? ... Hope unseen will get them to first base. Then they will become unburdened and light on their feet.

This carefree hope will get them to second base. They will be filled with joy and happily steal third base with childlike hope ... but salvation will come from an unlikely place and 'hope against hope' will bring them home."
And then it happened. The Royals won the World Series in 2015 after a heartbreaking Game 7 loss to San Francisco last year. As the Associated Pressput it, "For these resilient Royals, no deficit is too large, no time in the game too late."
At a time when hopeless is striking the heart of America and men's hearts threaten to fail them for fear of economic meltdowns, plagues, earthquakes and other evil prophetic forebodings, the words of Jones and Hartley are ringing in the ears of Believers around the nation believing for a Third Great Awakening.
Could God be speaking words of life and hope—and revival—through a baseball game?
