Today's Israel Inspiration

Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu speaks passionately about the city of Hebron, saying: “The roots of the nation of Israel are inherent in the stories of our fathers ... Abraham made his home in Hebron thousands of years ago, paying full price for the Cave of Machpelah and its surroundings. This acquisition was the beginning of the eternal bond forged between our nation and its birthplace. Hebron also became the burial place of our Patriarchs and Matriarchs. It is in Hebron that David established his monarchy, even before Jerusalem...  Our deep bond to Hebron - as the destination for Jewish pilgrims and in the longing of prayer – was never disconnected and never ended.” Learn about the significance of Hebron from Biblical times through today with a fascinating FREE eBook.

Olympic Gymnasts Reveal Biblical Prayers That Guided Their Routines

Join us on our podcast each weekday for an interesting story, well told, from Charisma News. Listen at charismapodcastnetwork.com.

Athletes at 2016 Rio Olympics are likely focusing on God to succeed, according to former Olympians.
On Tuesday, Good Morning America invited former U.S. Olympic gymnasts Dominique Dawes and McKayla Maroney on air to discuss the 2016 U.S. women's gymnastics team.
At one point in the interview, ABC co-anchor Lara Spencer asked the two athletes how this year's gymnastic team handles pressure while competing at the Olympics.
"What do you think they do in the moments before?" she asked. "How do you control your breathing when you're—when you're walking out there and you have to look totally composed and we did talk a little bit about game faces that we're seeing. How do you guys—how do they do it today?"
Instead of pointing to certain exercises or eating habits, the Olympians pointed to faith.
"I always relied on my faith," Dawes responded. "I always had a prayer in my head: 'I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.' Many of those young girls may have that same mindset as well."
"Yep," Maroney interjected in agreement. "Amen."
Americans may not hear it from the media, but all five of the U.S. women gymnasts competing in the 2016 Rio Olympics have publicized their faith on Twitter.

Walking Through the Fire of Change by Michelle Holderman - Identity Network

Walking Through the Fire of Change by Michelle Holderman

Identity Network

God raises up His agents of change through the fire. They must walk through the fire first before they can come out to help lead others through. And when it's time, God will bring them to the forefront to do what He has called, chosen, and/or commissioned them to do.

This is what's happening now on many levels.

The more intimately I come to know Him, the more I come to see and understand His ways are truly nothing like our own. They are much, much higher. This is why He often calls us to spiritually come up higher because it helps us to see and understand things from His perspective.

I say that because what He is doing won't necessarily look like what we think or expect. It will require us to come up higher in order to fully grasp.

Agents of Change

Many of these agents of change that are being raised up for this time will challenge the status quo everywhere they go because they know the very heartbeat of God. Their finger is not on the pulse of the culture. Rather their finger is on the pulse of the Lord.

And don't be surprised by who they are either. Just know the Father has chosen them, and He has every right to do so according to His will and good pleasure.

We are in a time where we must truly lay aside our own opinions and desires, and align ourselves with Him, His heart, and His purposes.

There will be much transitioning taking place. Some of it will look like turmoil, but in the midst of this, God is actually redefining the soil from which we grow and function. New things are going to spring up as a result.

Change is surely coming, and most importantly; this is change the Father is orchestrating. Despite what it might look like in the natural, there are a lot of good things that lie ahead. The Lord is going to surprise many of us. The key is to set our eyes on Him and what He is doing."

Directing Change

I hear the Spirit of God saying, "I AM directing them. I AM directing these God-ordained agents of change. I AM sending them forth. I will not allow the smoke to clear without accomplishing the purposes of My heart.  There are those who are crying out to Me, saying, 'Is there a way out?! Is there a way out of this, Oh Lord? A way out for me; a way out for my family; a way out for my nation?'"

And the Lord says, "I have heard those cries. I've heard them. Now, look unto Me and trust what I AM doing; for I know the end from the beginning. And I AM doing a new thing that will cause great change to come and take place.  Even now, a transitioning is underway. It is a transitioning from out of the old way and into the new way. It is a way I have chosen. I, alone, AM the answer for this change, and I will use those I have so decided to bring the purposes of My heart about in the way I desire.

"There are greater days ahead. And while there will always be some form of opposition from the enemy, I want to assure you; he does not have the upper hand. I do. So set yourselves in alignment with the purpose of My heart, for it is My purpose that is causing this great change to be produced.

"As My Son said, do not let your hearts be troubled. Don't let them be filled with fear and anxiety. But trust in God. Believe in Me. These are truly words to live by.  I AM truth. I AM justice. I AM light. I AM love. And I AM serving notice to My House - get yourselves ready; for I AM coming. And I'm not coming just to visit; I AM coming to stay. I AM coming to abide with you in a way I never have before.

Selah.

"So as you walk through the fire of change, know that I AM purifying you. Know that I AM bringing you into the land of purpose and vision that your very souls are longing for. And you must embody this purpose and this vision; for it is the purpose and the vision of the Lord your God. It is the purpose and the vision of the Kingdom.

Kingdom Purpose and Vision

"I AM calling you to bring My Kingdom purpose and My Kingdom vision into the earth. And not only is this the way out many are crying out to Me for, but this is divinely etched in who you are. And you are My true sons and My true daughters. You are carrying My very essence within you.

"Do not disrupt the sound of My change; for I AM the sound that is bringing this about. I AM evicting deception, nonsense, and encumbrance.  I AM dismantling contention, bitterness, and strife.  I AM removing victimization, haughtiness, and darkness.  I AM.  I AM promoting some and I AM bringing down others; for it is time.

"So do not be moved by what you see in the natural. My divine purpose is undergirding this time of great change. It will continue to get heated but do not be drawn into the rhetoric or the fray. Instead, let My hand guide you as you walk in My way.

"My change always incites upheaval. So it has in times past and so it is now. Nevertheless, My purpose is prevailing.

"I will perform My Word on behalf of those who love Me and are the called according to My purpose. For have I not told you that I will work all these things together for your good? Did I not say that My Word will not return void to Me, but will succeed in what I sent it to do?

Called to Be Ready

"This time requires you to ready yourselves for I AM calling. I AM calling you to be ready for this great, unimaginable change that lies before you. It will be filled with both goodness and hardship but the real matter at hand is that My purpose will prevail in it.

"As I expose deeper truths, as I reveal greater understanding, you will feel the heat building but you will not be burned by it. For My fire is a holy fire. My fire is a pure fire. My fire is a worthy fire. And My fire will burn the dross away that is holding you back. My fire will be the light which bears witness with you.

"For My fire cannot be contained as you know and understand containment. Rather My fire will rage with My purpose. And this is the sound you are going to hear - the sound of My fire burning.

"It will bring freedom to those who are in captivity; it will enlighten those who are in need of understanding; it will yield a purification and unifying of the saints; it will also drown out the voices of darkness that are trying to pervade many of My people. For this fire holds a holy roar of victory within it. And all who know Me will know this is My sound and will not be afraid of it.

"Do not misunderstand My words. For when My fire rages or burns strongly with My purpose, people will run to it. They will desire to immerse themselves in My fire.

"Those who do not know Me will want to know and understand how it is this fire can consume death yet also give life. They will want to know, who is this God that burns a fire so hot and so pure but does not destroy me? How can His fire burn with such immense love and light? How, they will ask, is this possible?

"Then you, My sons and daughters, will tell them. You will answer for Me. And the answer you will give is Christ and Christ crucified. Jesus, Yeshua, will be glorified as you lift Him up and speak the truth in love to those who are far off. For My Son has already removed the barrier of separation.

"He is your peace. He is your righteousness. He is your hope. And He is the source of life and light with which the fire you inquire of burns. He will satisfy your hungry and thirsty souls. Only He can. Receive Him.  This is My sound that will proceed out of your mouths.

I Will Finish

"Be ready, for this is a time unlike any other. The Gospel will spread like a wildfire, unable to be contained or extinguished. I will pour Myself out as I've never done before. I will ignite many with a fresh spark of My fire. In this, new campfires will be established to give My people fresh sparks of My love, truth, and grace. And it will be extraordinary.

"Guard your hearts, beloved; not from fellowship with each other, but from the fruits of the flesh. Feed your spirits. Keep yourselves in My perfect will and peace, and do not allow another to lead you off course.  I will finish what I started. And it will be good!"

Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert. Isaiah 43:19 (English Standard Version)

Therefore, since we are receiving an unshakable Kingdom, let us be filled with gratitude, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe. For our God is a consuming fire. Hebrews 12:28-29 (Berean Study Bible)

Why I'm Not Worried About the Next Four Years

J. LEE GRADY  CHARISMA NEWS
Fire in My Bones, by J. Lee Grady
Depending on where you stand politically these days, you are either (1) enraged that billionaire Donald Trump could be our next president; (2) freaking out that former First Lady Hillary Clinton might return to the White House; or (3) dismayed that after such a divisive campaign season, we are stuck with Trump and Clinton as our only choices in November.
I'm in the third category—and so are many other Christians who find it difficult to fit in a Republican or Democratic straitjacket. I'm pro-life but I'm also pro-immigrant. I'm pro-business and against high taxes because I believe heavy-handed government control of the economy hurts rich and poor alike. I'm an avid proponent of equality for women, but I could have suggested more honest and capable women than Mrs. Clinton to become the first female U.S. president.
But it is what it is. These are our choices. For me it's like one of those nightmares where you must choose to die by guillotine or gas chamber. Either way, it's horrifying. I keep wishing we could hit a reset button and start the whole campaign season over with new candidates. But that's not going to happen.
Over the past two weeks, it has also become more obvious that, barring some unexpected discovery of hacked e-mails, Mrs. Clinton will win in November. This is not because of anything she did but because, since the Republican convention, Mr. Trump's campaign unraveled every time he opened his mouth.
His poll numbers fell through the floor last week after he blasted the Muslim-American parents of an Army captain who was killed in Iraq. His open hostility toward a decorated war veteran caused even the staunchest Republicans to pull their support from the man who was supposed to "make America great again."
The Christian community is now deeply divided by this election. My African-American and Hispanic friends could never support Mr. Trump because of comments he made that sound racist—including his infamous plan to build a wall on the Mexican border and his original (and now modified) promise to ban Muslims from the country.
At the same time, many of my friends believe if Mrs. Clinton wins, she and her ultra-liberal cronies will launch a systematic program to confiscate all guns, shut down churches and force all American children to deny their gender. (That may be just a loony conspiracy theory, but it's no secret that Mrs. Clinton has done little to appeal to evangelical voters or to qualm their fears. It's as if she doesn't want our votes.)
I've gone through a range of emotions about this election—from outrage to anxiety to hands-up-in-the-air exasperation. But I'm over it now. I've calmed down. I'm not worried.
I found the peace I was looking for last month in Bolivia, of all places.
I was speaking at Ekklesia Church, one of the largest evangelical congregations in the city of La Paz. There were more than 1,200 people jammed into that auditorium on a Sunday morning, and it was the 7 a.m. service! And at the end of my message, several dozen people came to the altar to receive Jesus. All I could think was, nobody would come to church at 7 a.m. in the United States!
And yet this happened in Bolivia, a country ruled since 2006 by Evo Morales, a socialist whose policies resemble those of the late Hugo Chávez, dictator of Venezuela. In spite of Morales' leftist policies and his open disdain for Christianity (he has at times invited native spiritualists to sacrifice llamas outside his government offices) the church of Jesus Christ continues to thrive in Bolivia.
Think about it. The gospel is spreading around the world today despite civil wars, Islamic terrorism, leftwing conspiracies, rightwing conspiracies and evil tyrants. That's because regardless of who is in power at any given moment, our God is on His throne in heaven. We can rest in His sovereignty.
Perhaps you need to reflect on the fact that God is ultimately in charge of our nation and its rulers. Psalm 115:3 says: "But our God is in the heavens; He does whatever He pleases." When things don't go the way we think they should, we can go to sleep at night and leave our concerns in His hands. We can trust that He is at work even when it seems His enemies are winning.
Isaiah 40:23 says of God: "He brings the princes to nothing; He makes the judges of the earth meaningless." No candidate or political party makes God nervous. He is not wringing His hands. His sovereign plan will be accomplished in His time, and no man, woman or army can stop Him.
Lamentations 5:19 says: "You, O Lord, remain forever; Your throne endures from generation to generation." God sees the beginning and the end. His perspective is not limited like ours. He is God. And we are not!
Don't get discouraged or fearful. Instead, trust the One who rules from heaven. Rather than worrying, take your concerns to His eternal throne and pray that He will unleash a spiritual revival in the United States that will fill our churches once again—even at 7 a.m.! That miracle can happen regardless of who occupies the White House.

Why Palestinians Prefer Working for Israelis - VIEWPOINT ISRAEL

Why Palestinians Prefer Working for Israelis

If Israeli Jews are such blood-thirsty haters of all things Arab, then why do Palestinian Arabs prefer working for them?
Palestinian Authority TV acknowledged as much in recent broadcasts of the program Workers’ Affairs, which were translated by Palestinian Media Watch.
A number of Palestinian laborers were interviewed, and openly stated that both pay and work conditions for Arabs are far better with Israeli employers than with fellow Palestinians.
“The lack of monitoring of [Palestinian] owners of companies and factories and their exploitation of workers is what has forced people to Israel, to work and build in Israel,” said Qassem Abu Hadwan, a laborer from Hebron. “Workers have to go to Israel, because no one [in the PA]gives them what they deserve for their work.”
Indeed, figures released by the Palestinian Authority’s Central Bureau of Statistics revealed that “the average [daily]wage for employees in the West Bank was 94.1 shekels, and 61.9 shekels in the Gaza Strip, while the average for employees in Israel and the settlements was 198.9 shekels.”
Israeli-Arab Attorney Khaled Dukhi of Worker’s Hotline explained that the situation is even worse for female Palestinian workers, who have to pay exorbitant fees to “middlemen.”
“In practice, he [the Palestinian employer] takes 50%, 60%, and even 70% of her salary. The middleman steals two thirds of her salary,” noted Dukhi.
There are currently some 120,000 Palestinian Arabs working legally in Israel and the Jewish settlements, with thousands more seeking work permits or making their way across the Green Line illegally.
It is difficult to imagine how an independent Palestinian state would survive economically when so little of its labor force wants to work there.

13 False Statements About Israel You Hear Constantly

THE ALGEMEINER STAFF  CHARISMA NEWS
Standing With Israel
Mainstream Western media coverage of Israel is laced with expressions intentionally crafted to delegitimize the Jewish State. The good news, is that these terms weren't written in stone 3,300 years ago, but they are post-Israel independence creations.
By using this language, Israel's history is forfeited. Here are 13 phrases people must stop repeating:
1. "West Bank": Claims that "Judea and Samaria" are simply the "biblical name for the West Bank" stands history on its head. The Hebrew-origin terms "Judea" and "Samaria" were used through 1950, when invading [Trans]Jordan renamed them the "West Bank" in order to disassociate these areas of the Jewish homeland from Jews. The U.N.'s own 1947 partition resolution referred not to "West Bank," but to "the hill country of Samaria and Judea." This term is not shorthand for "Judea and Samaria." Under this formulation, Jordan is the "East Bank" of the original Palestine Mandate, which was designated as the homeland for the Jewish People.
2. "East" Jerusalem or "traditionally Arab East" Jerusalem: From the city's second millennium BCE origins until 1947 CE, there was no such place as "East" Jerusalem. The 19 years between when invading Jordan captured part of the city in 1948 and was ousted by Israel in 1967 was the only time in history, except between 638 and 1099, when Arabs ruled any part of Jerusalem. Palestinian Arabs have not ruled an inch of it for one day in history. In the past three millennia, Jerusalem has been the capital of three native states—Judah, Judaea and modern Israel—and has had a renewed Jewish majority since 19th-century Turkish rule. Eastern Jerusalem is a neighborhood of the city that Israel reunified in 1967.
3. "The U.N. sought to create Jewish and Palestinian States": It did not. Partitioning Palestine between "Palestinians" and Jews is like partitioning Pennsylvania between Pennsylvanians and Jews. Over and over in its 1947 partition resolution, the U.N. referenced "the Jewish State" and "the Arab" [not "Palestinian"] State.
4. 1948 was the "creation" and "founding" of  Israel: Israel wasn't "created" and "founded" in 1948 artificially and out-of-the-blue. Israel attained independence that year as the natural fruition into renewed statehood of a people who had twice before been independent in that land, and after centuries of hard work to re-establish a Jewish State in this historic homeland.
5. "The War that Followed Israel's Creation": Israel did not choose this war; it was forced on Israel by almost every Arab state, which rejected the U.N. partition and tried to push the Jews of Israel into the sea. And it was a homeland Jewish army, the Haganah, which became the IDF, that threw back that multination foreign invasion.
6. "Palestinian refugees of the war that followed Israel's creation," or the "Palestinian refugee issue": It was the invading Arab nations bent on Israel's destruction that both encouraged and caused the bulk of the Arabs to flee Israel. And a greater number of media constantly ignore the indigenous Middle Eastern Jews who were expelled from vast Arab and other Muslim lands in the wake of the Arab-Israeli War. Their number is greater than the amount of Arabs that fled tiny Israel. That Israel absorbed the bulk of these Jews, while Arab "hosts," including in Palestine itself, isolate the Arab refugees' descendants in Western-supported "refugee camps" does not convert the Arab-Israeli conflict's two-sided refugee issue into a "Palestinian" refugee issue. Had the Palestinian Arabs accepted the U.N. partition plan, they would also have been celebrating their 66th anniversary.
7.  Israel "Seized" Arab Lands in 1967:  It did not. The 1967 war, like its predecessors, was a defensive war forced upon Israel. Israel's neighbors did not want to compromise; they simply wanted to destroy the Jewish State. The new Israeli territory was meant to provide a security barrier and ensure this could never happen. Moreover, these were not "Arab Lands."
8. Israel's "1967 Borders": The 1949 Israel-Jordan Armistice Agreement expressly declared the "green line" it drew between the two sides' ceasefire positions as a military ceasefire line only, without prejudice to either side's political border claims. The post-'67 war U.N. resolution 242 pointedly did not demand Israel retreat from these lines.
9. "Israeli-Occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem": That the media insistently calls Israeli presence in the heart of Jerusalem and in Judea and Samaria "Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories" does not make it so. "Occupation" is an international law term referencing foreign presence in the sovereign territory of another state. The land of Israel's last sovereign native state before modern Israel was Jewish Judaea. The land ratio of Arab lands to Israel is 625-1, 23 states to one.
10. "Jewish settlers and settlements" vs. "Palestinian residents of neighborhoods and villages": A favorite media news article contrast is referencing in the same sentence "Jewish settlers" in "settlements" and "Palestinian residents" of nearby "neighborhoods" and "villages." Jews are not alien "settlers" in a Jerusalem that's had a Jewish majority since 19th-century times or in the Judea-Samaria Jewish historical heartland.
11. Israel's "Jewish State" recognition is "a new stumbling block": New since Moses' time. The Jewish homeland of Israel, including continuous homeland-claiming Jewish presence, has always been central to Jewish peoplehood. In 1947, British Foreign Secretary Bevin told Parliament that the Jews' "essential point of principle" was Jewish Palestine sovereignty.
12. "Palestinians accept, and Israel rejects, a Two-State Solution": Wrong on both counts. Both the U.S. and Israel define 'Two States' as two states for two peoples—Jews and Arabs. Many on the Arab side reject two states for two peoples. Many Israelis, including Prime Minister Netanyahu, support that plan—conditioned on an end to Palestinian terror. The Arabs continuously and consistently deny Israel's right to exist as the nation-state of the Jewish People, no matter where its borders are drawn.
13. "THE Palestinians": The United Nations' 1947 partition resolution called Palestine's Arabs and Jews "the two Palestinian peoples." Nothing is more self-delegitimizing and counter-productive to achieving peace based on Arab recognition of Jews' right to be there, than that people should go around calling Palestinian Arabs "The Palestinians." They have no distinguishing language, religion or culture from neighboring Arabs and have never been sovereign in Palestine, whereas the Jews, with a presence stretching back three millennia, have had three states there, all Jerusalem-based. Most Palestinian Arabs cannot trace their own lineage to the land back more than four generations.

Why This Group, Not ISIS, Remains Israel's Biggest Terror Threat - Julie Stahl,Chris Mitchell

Why This Group, Not ISIS, Remains Israel's Biggest Terror Threat

JERUSALEM, Israel – For more than two years, the world has focused its attention on ISIS as a common enemy. Other threats and conflicts have almost taken a back seat given the terror group's growth and barbaric attacks.
But Israel, meanwhile, remains on edge because ISIS joins an already long list of enemies dedicated to its destruction.
That list includes Hezbollah in Lebanon, which went to war with Israel 10 years ago and could attack again at any moment.  For the Jewish state, this enemy to the north remains the most dangerous foe on Israel's borders.
Preparing for Anything
Recently, Israeli Defense Forces reservists participated in a training exercise along the beach in northern Israel to practice preventing infiltration attempts.
Reserve IDF Col. Zvika Halperin is a home front commander responsible for the Western Galilee -- an area with a population of 600,000. He was in charge of the exercise.
"We are training for a number of scenarios, scenarios where they're (the enemy) coming from the sea, air and land," Halperin told CBN News.
"We're training the authorities for emergency situations, dangerous substance events, events where missiles fall, also from Lebanon, also from Syria, infiltrations of all kinds of forces," Halperin said.
Israel's Most Powerful Enemy
Middle East expert Jonathan Spyer said the Lebanese-based, Iranian proxy Hezbollah is most powerful terrorist enemy of Israel.
"Hezbollah is vastly more powerful than in terms of its core military capabilities – its missiles, its rockets, its ground forces – than are any of the other Islamist militias, which also wish Israel harm," Spyer said. "So Hezbollah remains the, you know, by far the main threat."
Ten years ago Hezbollah crossed the border, attacking and killing 10 Israeli soldiers and holding the bodies of two of them hostage for years. The incident sparked a war lasting 34 days. Spyer, who fought in a tank unit, told CBN News Israel wasn't prepared.
"Many units, infantry units, armored units, went into the war having not trained adequately in the previous years because they've been very busy fighting that insurgency in the West Bank and in Gaza," Spyer explained.

Hezbollah launched more than 4,000 missiles and rockets at northern Israel, at the rate of more than 100 per day. That put a million Israeli civilians within range.
Flashback to 2006
Near the war's end, CBN founder Pat Robertson traveled to Israel's northern border and spoke with then IDF Ground Forces Commander Gen. Benny Gantz.
"It sounds strange that [it's] the year 2006 and people still think they can destroy Israel as a people and as a nation," Gantz told Robertson then.
"They can't do it," Robertson replied.
"They are the overreach of [former Iranian President Mahmoud] Ahmadinejad, who simply talks about destroying the Jewish people, complaining to the Germans why they didn't finish [the job] in the Second World War," Gantz said.
"Will you finish it so that they [Hezbollah] cease to be a significant force in Lebanon? Are you going to have to stop partway?" Robertson asked.
"We'll have to consider it operationally speaking. And there are two issues. One is the political level. They have to decide what they want to do – coordinated with the international committee and stuff," Gantz said.
"Operationally speaking we know how to stay on the ground, how to move. I hope we won't get into a situation that we are stuck in one point," he continued.
Hezbollah Stronger than Ever
Since then, the situation has worsened. A re-fortified Hezbollah appears stronger than ever and still wants to finish Israel off.
"We're talking about over 100,000 missiles that they have in southern Lebanon, ready to be launched to Israel," said security expert retired IDF Col. Kobe Marom. "We estimate that any conflict in the future 1,500 missiles a day will be launched here. That's a real threat."
Marom says Israel knows the missile locations but in any future conflict, they will face challenges in attacking Hezbollah.
"They built their bunkers, tunnels and missile sites under the civilian population – under hospitals, under U.N. positions, under schools because they know when the pictures of the civilian death come to the people in New York City, Paris and London, the game is over," Marom told CBN News.
"That's why they use the life of their people in their struggle against Israel.  That's the reality today in Lebanon," he said.
Marom says Hezbollah has obtained better technology and longer-range missiles that can reach all of Israel. Plus their numbers have grown from 7,000 terrorists to more than 40,000.
Spyer said that's not all.
"They're also gaining a great deal of experience in areas of combat they didn't know about before, fighting in unfamiliar areas, fighting in urban settings, not stuff they'd done before," he said.
Saved by the Syrian War?
Spyer told CBN News that although Hezbollah is stronger, it's distracted by the war in Syria.
"They are now bogged down in a very different war, not a war that they ever wanted, that's the war to protect Bashar Assad's regime – Assad's regime in Syria," he said.
Iran and Hezbollah support Assad because his country helps Iranian weapons make it to Lebanon.
"The bottom line is for as long as the Syrian war continues, it is extremely unlikely that Hezbollah will be able to afford itself the luxury, so to speak, of hitting on Israel and opening up a second front against an enemy, you know, vastly more powerful than the Syrian rebels," Spyer said.
Spyer says fortunately Israel is also better prepared.
"I think the army underwent a change of focus following the 2006 war, understanding that Hezbollah is an enemy of a different nature, that Hezbollah is the main ground threat to Israel today and that that requires an army, you know, effective and able to respond to them," he said.
And as long as Israel is not fighting in any regional conflicts, Spyer says the main goal will be to keep its borders safe and prepare to take on any invaders.
