Shabbat Inspiration

This Shabbat occurs right before the 9th of Av, the saddest day on the Jewish calendar. On that day, the First Temple in Jerusalem was destroyed by the Babylonians some 2,500 years ago and the Second Temple was destroyed by the Romans close to 2,000 years ago. Throughout Jewish history, this day has been marked by suffering and anti-Semitism. On the 9th of Av, we fast and pray, we remember our terrible history and ask God to bring the Messiah and rebuild the Temple as quickly as possible. Help rebuild the Land by planting your very own tree.

Beyond Jesus Dreams: The Matthew 11 Verse That's Turning Muslim Hearts to Christ

LYNDSEY KOH/MISSION NETWORK NEWS  CHARISMA NEWS
Join us on our podcast each weekday for an interesting story, well told, from Charisma News. Listen at charismapodcastnetwork.com.

We've kept you updated on the situation in Fallujah, Iraq, the town under ISIS control that was recently reclaimed by Iraqi troops. Thousands of people from Fallujah had fled to a nearby refugee town dubbed the City of Refuge.
Frontiers USA tells us in the last 18 months, through the work of indigenous missionaries, over 140 of those people in the City of Refuge have accepted Jesus Christ as their Savior.
As Iraqi forces now work to secure Fallujah and resume public sanitation, Frontiers' President Bob Blincoe says some of these new Christians want to go back to their homes and share the hope they've found through Christ for the first time in Fallujah!
"They are attracted to go home because that is the place they knew as where they lived their lives. And there's no future for them in the refugee tents in the City of Refuge. But now they have a mission, and they feel jubilant in the Lord. They have been baptized, most of these groups that they're working with have been baptized, which is the real step of faith in the Muslim world."
What is it about the gospel message that strikes such a chord with Muslim refugees?
Blincoe shares, "For the first time, there are enough Muslims who have come to faith to actually do the kind of surveying to understand from their perspective what was the attractive thing about the gospel. More than any other answer, they refer to Jesus' words, 'Come to me all who are weary and heavy laden. Learn of me, I will give you rest for your souls, for I am meek and humble.' This way of the Lord, this unexpected hope for miserable people, for desperate people, is the No. 1 reason."
The possibility for a growing and flourishing Church in Fallujah and the City of Refuge is having a domino effect. What started as a handful of local missionaries sharing Christ with their neighbors in the City of Refuge now has those new believers turning and doing the same with their family and friends as well.
"This is driven by Muslims who have come to faith themselves, which is the thing that of course must happen. ... Frontiers works directly with the leaders of this movement. There are five or six essential church-starters, all of them from a Muslim background. So we don't know hardly any of the people that have come to faith. We only know the people that are making disciples, which is really how it should be," says Blincoe.
"We have to set in place the kind of disciple making that does not depend on the missionaries for the extension and the creation of new groups. We have to set in place the idea that once you come to faith, you are born again to make other people come to faith as well."

Testimony From Fallujah Refugees

Blincoe shares one of the testimonies of a new family of believers who escaped Fallujah:
"In Kurdistan, Iraq where many refugees have fled to for safety, I heard one story that tells the whole story, and that's about Layla and her husband and children who fled on foot from ISIS in the city of Fallujah.
"They fled on foot, losing ground to the upcoming cloud of the enemy cars and trucks heading their way when, to their great surprise, a pickup truck slowed down and stopped and [the driver] said, 'Get in the back.' They scrambled into the pickup truck and off they zoomed to the nearby city, which we call the City of Refuge where we are working.
"Once they were safe and in a blue tarp tent on the edge of town like thousands of other refugees, they closed the chapter on their lives [and] couldn't go back for now. [They] lost everything but the shoes on their feet and the clothes on their back.
"Then God gave this woman, Layla, this vision of a man who would tell her about Jesus. That happens, I'm not going to say 'often,' but it's often the entry into people hearing from the Lord. That fellow ... was distributing goods and he came to her house the next day and offered to open up the Bible with them.
"This was not a single occurrence, but over several weeks of reading the Bible, the death and resurrection of Christ is finally what caused them to accept the message of the Lord and soften their hearts.
"So over a year ago, they came to faith and since that time they have started a whole network of about 20 groups of Muslim-background believers, mainly families, who are now studying the Word of the Lord through them, through these Muslims who have come to faith. And what she says is, 'God has now given us the pickup truck.' That is, we were saved by others, now He's given us the chance to save others.
"In fact, she is planning to go back to their city of Fallujah, a city that no westerners could possibly show up in, and bring the hope of Jesus Christ to that war-torn city."

The Soul of Iraq

Looking ahead, the church in Iraq is poised for something big. The harvest is so ready, and individuals and families are hungry for a deep and satisfying spiritual hope that can be found only through God's Holy Spirit and His Word.
"Now the real contest for the soul of Iraq begins," says Blincoe.
"We have a sense that we are on the frontlines of the free world. That everything depends on winning the people that have been displaced by ISIS, them going back to their homes, and winning those parts of Iraq where no missionaries can set foot.
"So pray for the extension of the gospel into these places, to the Fallujahs of Iraq, and that would be the beginning of what our children may very well say was, 'When did this all begin? The conversion of the Muslim peoples of Iraq?' We may be seeing it in our time."
It's time for believers and churches all over the world to answer God's call to make disciples of all nations, and to respond to the deep needs for the gospel within the 10/40 window.
One of the best ways you can help is by equipping and supporting the local missionaries in Middle Eastern countries like Iraq to spread God's message to their own hometowns and communities. Frontiers USA is doing just that.
"We can help churches get to the frontlines where there are no campfires, no pushpins, to use that analogy, and start original work among Muslims who are prepared by God through what the Bible calls the man of peace, the person of peace, who God has prepared—as it seems that God has prepared Layla and her husband," challenges Blincoe.
"There are more like that out there still beyond the reach of any missionary. Let's go to those places."

Heidi Mund: Germany Being Destroyed by 'People of Darkness' - CBN News Dale Hurd

Heidi Mund: Germany Being Destroyed by 'People of Darkness'
08-11-2016
CBN News Dale Hurd
FRANKFURT, Germany -- German Chancellor Angela Merkel famously said that Germany can handle millions of refugees.
But after five attacks in two weeks, most with some connection to immigration, and more attacks on the horizon, a lot of Germans are wondering what Merkel and her open-door refugee policy has done to Germany.
Some believe Merkel's political fate was sealed when she threw open Germany's doors to more than a million migrants and told the German people, "We can do it."
Now the approval rating for one of the most popular chancellors in post-war Germany has collapsed. It's less than half of what it was a little more than a year ago, down from 75 percent to 35 percent.
Dark People 'Want to Destroy Us'
Terrorism has now become a part of life in a nation that used to see very little. Almost daily terror attacks across Western Europe have an entire continent on edge. When someone shouted "ISIS" as a joke in Kosovo last week, a stampede injured 40 people.
A lot of Germans warned that Merkel was bringing disaster with her refugee policy, including the woman who awoke a lot of Germans to the threat of Islam, Heidi Mund, also known as the "brave German woman."
The video of Mund interrupting the call to prayer by a Muslim imam in a German cathedral went viral on the Internet. She shouted, "Jesus Christ alone is Lord of Germany. I break this curse."
Now, after a migrant influx, Mund says she believes that some German leaders want to destroy Germany.
"I believe, I am really convinced, there are bad people of darkness who want to destroy us. They are servants of the devil," she told CBN News. "They are sick in their opinion and they don't care if it will cost lives or not, it will be bloody or not. They want to destroy; they want to take over."
A Prophetic Dream Come True
Before the terrorism that hit Germany, before the massive New Years' Eve sex attacks in Cologne and other cities, Mund says God spoke to her about her country's future.
"God gave me a vision two times. I saw a human prayer chain standing around Germany. I spoke out a warning that the young Muslim men would increase the raping rate," she said. "I spoke out a warning, first to my brothers and sisters in Christ, that we need to pray against the raping. I told them we would face danger -- especially our children, our girls, our women."
She sent the warning to her followers on Facebook, and because of that, Mund was investigated by the local prosecutor for hate speech.
Then, what she warned of came true. Germany is now in the grips of what some are calling a rape epidemic. The hate speech charge again Mund has been dropped.
"It was not a lie. It's not hate speech. I don't have hatred in my heart," she said. "I love my people and also those refugees."
Mund says feels she knows Merkel because both grew up under communism in the former East Germany. Merkel was the daughter of a Protestant pastor.
But Mund had harsh words for Germany's chancellor.
"Who is Merkel? Who is she? I'm sorry. I have been a communist. I know who she is. I know who she is," she told CBN News. "For me, she is a wolf."
"And people who think she's a Christian? She would not destroy her country? She would not destroy her people here? She is doing it here, right now," she continued.
When Will It Be Too Late?
Germany is still controlled by a political correctness that casts opponents of immigration as Nazis and racists. But the right-wing party Alternative for Germany is now the third largest.
One of its leaders, Björn Höcke, told CBN News, "Chancellor Angela Merkel is throwing our country into disaster and with us, also Europe."
Höcke says he still considers Germany a Christian nation because of its Christian foundation, and he said Germany cannot integrate millions of Muslims because Islam is a religion that is stuck in the Middle Ages.
But the growing popularity of Alternative for Germany does not mean Germany is close to a turnaround. Merkel has doubled down on her refugee program, attacking opponents.
Mund told CBN News she now believes the future for Germany is chaos and war. But she would not say it is too late.
CBN News asked Mund when it will be too late.
"I will tell you when it is too late," she replied. "It is too late when God has given us up."

Dabiq-BreakTheCross

Joel C. Rosenberg's Blog

Three reasons the next President — and his/her advisors (and you) — should carefully study the latest issue of the ISIS magazine, Dabiq.

by joelcrosenberg
The next President of the United States -- and his or her advisors -- need to carefully study and analyze the latest issue of Dabiq, the full-color propaganda magazine of the Islamic State. So do other world leaders, Members of Congress and Middle East policy-makers. So do you.
Three reasons -- in this edition of Dabiq:
  1. ISIS leaders make clear they want to bring about the End of Days.
  2. ISIS leaders vow to "break the cross" -- that is, to slaughter Christians in the Middle East, in the West, and around the world, and to annihilate Christianity from the Earth.
  3. ISIS leaders lay out the six reasons they hate us, they state their ultimate objective, and they explain why they will never stop killing until they achieve total victory.
Far too many leaders in Washington believe the West is winning the war against ISIS. That is a dangerous fallacy. The sober truth is that we are not winning. ISIS is winning. Yes, ISIS is losing large tracts of territory in Iraq. They are also losing ground in Syria. But their forces are growing. The global reach of their attacks is spreading. Their blood-thirsty version of Apocalyptic Islam is metastasizing.
At the same time, far too few leaders in Washington and other capitals truly understand the theology, eschatology and objectives motivating the men and women running ISIS.
This is not Al Qaeda 2.0. The Islamic State and their pursuit of the caliphate is something far, far more dangerous. Those who misunderstand the nature and threat of this especially pernicious form of evil are at risk of allowing the country to be repeatedly blindsided by it with catastrophic results.
Consider....
ISIS LEADERS WANT TO BRING ABOUT THE END OF DAYS
Throughout the entire issue is the genocidal End Times language of Apocalyptic Islam.
ISIS wants readers to understand their plan to create a global caliphate where everyone submits to Islam comes from the Qur'an and other Islamic scriptures. Regardless of what their critics say, they are emphatic that they are following the true path and that there is a great sense of urgency to obey Allah because the end is very near.
To be clear, it is not wrong necessarily to hold to an eschatology that says the messiah is coming to establish peace and justice on the Earth. Jews and Christians have their own versions of End Times theology, based on the Biblical teachings of the Old and New Testaments. That said, the Bible never calls on Jews and/or Christians to annihilate their enemies to bring about the Kingdom of the Messiah.
However, Apocalyptic Islam teaches exactly this -- and this is one of the reasons it is both evil and dangerous.
For policy-makers unfamiliar with the concepts of Apocalyptic Islam, this issue of Dabiqprovides some clear and thus useful language about what ISIS leaders believe:
  • "It is Allah who prepared the Earth for the bloodiest battle before the Hour, to see His slaves sweat in spilling their blood and that of His enemies." (p. 13)
  • "When the Messiah, Jesus son of Mary, returns in the end days to battle the Antichrist -- the false messiah -- and his army, of the myths he will debunk once and for all are those of his crucifixion and divinity. This will be when he [Jesus] breaks the cross...." (p. 48)
  • "When he [Jesus] returns in the final days, the Messiah will adhere to the Law of Muhammad and wage jihad for the cause of Allah...." (p. 49)
ISIS LEADERS WANT TO ACHIEVE THE ANNIHILATION OF CHRISTIANITY
Having studied and read through many previous editions of Dabiq, what strikes me about this edition is how directly ISIS leaders are aiming at the theology and eschatology of Biblical Christianity.
  • There are articles that attempt to "debunk" the "myths" that Jesus died on the cross, rose from the dead, and was divine.
  • The authors try to blame modern Christianity on the Apostle Paul whom they claim was a liar that perverted the real teachings of Jesus.
  • The magazine is full of quotes from the Old and New Testaments, the Qur'an, and other sayings of Muhammad, pitting the ISIS brand of Islam against Judaism and Christianity.
  • There are interview with ISIS jihadists who claim to have been raised as Christians but later converted to Islam -- the ISIS brand of Islam -- and now are waging jihad, killing with abandon.
  • The article targets Protestants as well as Catholics and includes an article specifically attacking the current Pope as the "enemy" of Islam.
What emerges over eighty-some pages is this: ISIS leaders are calling on Christians around the world to renounce the Gospel and embrace their version of Islam or face slaughter at the hands of jihadists today, and ultimate annihilation by Jesustomorrow, followed by a sentence to eternal damnation in the fires of Hell.
ISIS LEADERS WON'T STOP KILLING UNTIL THEY ACHIEVE TOTAL VICTORY
Finally, I commend to your attention an article titled, "Why We Hate You & Why We Fight You." (p. 30) Consider a few excerpts:
  1. "We hate you, first and foremost, because you are disbelievers; you reject the Oneness of Allah -- whether you realize it or not -- by making partners for Him in worship, you blaspheme Him, claiming that He has a son, you fabricate lies against his prophets and messengers, and you indulge in all manner of devilish practices....
  2. "We hate you because of your secular, liberal, societies permit the very things that Allah has prohibited....
  3. "In the case of the atheist fringe, we hate you and wage war against you because you disbelieve the existence of your Lord and Creator....
  4. "We hate you for your crimes against Islam and wage war against you to punish you for your transgressions against our religion....
  5. "We hate you for the crimes against the Muslims....
  6. "We hate you for invading our lands and fight you to repel you and drive you out...." (p. 31-32)
The article concludes by stating clearly and unequivocally that ISIS will not stop killing until every person on earth is a Muslim they way they define Islam.
"[E]ven if you [infidels] were to stop bombing us, imprisoning us, torturing us, vilifying us and usurping our lands," note the authors, "we would continue to hate you because our primary reason for hating you will not cease until you embrace Islam." (p. 33)
"The fact is we wage -- and continue to escalate -- a calculated war that the West thought it had ended several years ago. We continue dragging you further into a swamp you thought you had escaped only to realize that you're stuck in its murky waters."
The ISIS leaders explain that, at best, the world of infidels can obtain a "temporary truce" by surrendering to the caliphate and paying the slave tax known as the "jizyah." But in the end, they are explicit in their objectives: they won't be deterred from conquering and slaughtering until every man, woman on child is a Muslim of the ISIS brand.
CONCLUSION
As I have been arguing repeatedly again in recent years (see herehereherehere, here, and here), it is critically important that leaders in Washington and in capitals around the world read and study carefully what the leaders of ISIS are saying.
ISIS leaders are not hiding their genocidal End Times objectives. Nor are they hiding their hatred of the world's two billion Christians, plus all other "infidels" who don't see God and the world and the future the way they do. Rather, they are being as explicit as they can. They want to be heard. They want to be understood. They do not fear being "found out." To the contrary, they are absolutely certain they are on the winning side of history.
Admittedly, eschatology is not the language of the West's historic enemies. Most world leaders and their advisor have interest in -- and certainly little if any desire to talk about -- varying interpretations of Jewish, Christian and/or Islamic End Times theology. But we are living in very different times. These are the cards we've been dealt. This enemy is unlike most others we have ever faced. Their motivations are different. Their strategies are different. So are their tactics.
We'd better understand the game, and how its stakes really are, before it's too late.
NOTE: Be advised that the magazine includes some graphic and gruesome color photographs of ISIS atrocities. I do not recommend children study this issue. Parents and educators should only proceed with caution.

Could the Prophesied Ezekiel 38 'Hook in the Jaw' Be Famine? - RICKY SCAPARO/END TIMES HEADLINES CHARISMA NEWS

"The waters of the river will dry up, and the riverbed will be parched and dry."

Could the Prophesied Ezekiel 38 'Hook in the Jaw' Be Famine?

The Bible tells us that in the future there will be a great battle that scholars identify as "the War of Gog and Magog" and is mentioned in Ezekiel 38. This war will consist of many nations, including Turkey, Russia and Iran, that will come against Israel. In this battle, the prophet mentions a very interesting key to what will initiate this future war.
Ezekiel 38:4: And I will turn you back and put hooks into your jaws, and I will bring you out, and all your army, horses, and horsemen, all of them clothed with all sorts of armor, even a great company with buckler and shield, all of them handling swords.
It appears from this verse that the Lord will use something as a hook in the jaw of a fish to reel these nations into a war with Israel to fulfill His sovereign purpose and fulfill the prophetic word given by the prophet Ezekiel. The question that has baffled scholars and has left much for debate is, what exactly is the hook in the jaw? What would pull all these nations into a war with the nation of Israel?
Three of the most prominent speculations have been:
- Famine in the land that would come in the future which would drive these nations to the land of Israel to obtain the food they need to survive.
- A lust for oil that would attract these other nations to assemble an attack. By the way, massive oil reserves reportedly were discovered in Israel recently, located in the Golan Heights, close to the country's border with Syria. The Golan Heights is what all the "Land for Peace" negotiations are about.
- A devastating drought could draw these armies in.
Let's talk about the famine theory first. This theory in itself sounded ridiculous at one time considering when the prophet spoke of this future war Israel was a barren land, but the prophet Isaiah foretold a day when the Lord would bless Israel, and it would bloom again.
Isaiah 41:18-21: I will open rivers in high places, and fountains in the midst of the valleys; I will make the wilderness a pool of water, and the dry land springs of water. I will plant in the wilderness the cedar and the acacia, the myrtle, and the olive tree; I will set in the desert the fir tree and the pine, and the box tree together, that they may see, and know, and consider, and understand together, that the hand of the Lord has done this, and the Holy One of Israel has created it.
Isaiah 27:6: In the days to come Jacob shall take root; Israel shall blossom and bud and shall fill the face of the whole world with fruit.
Today, the land of Israel, which was barren for thousands of years, is now a leading producer of agricultural products, exporting food to many countries.
The next theory is a devastating water shortage or drought like what took place in the time of Elijah the prophet. If this were to happen and Israel was the leading source of water, it could lead to what we call "Water Wars." Today a new report came out that may just give ammunition to this theory. Less than a decade ago, Israel's economy was suffering greatly as drought threatened the country's long-term viability. News outlets even reported data suggesting that the Middle East was in the midst of one its worst droughts in 900 years. However, Israel prevailed, and investments in water technology pulled Israel out of the drought and averted what would have otherwise been an intractable crisis. And today Israel has become the global water superpower.
So what happens when the next severe drought comes to the Middle East? We are witnessing an alliance forming already with Turkey, Russia and Persia, which are three major players that will receive the hook in the jaw and come against Israel in the near future. Consequently, the Bible predicts in the Book of Revelation that the Euphrates River will run dry that will enable a 200-million-man army to make its way to invade Jerusalem.
Walid Shoebat even spoke of this recently and said the following: Egypt, on the other hand, is dependent on continued flows, but Ethiopia's dam would give the country the ability to all but cut off the flow of the Blue Nile, which supplies 85 percent of water to the Nile Valley. This will starve all of Egypt's 82 million population.
Now that this is not far-fetched, we could understand how in the Bible, this is precisely what will happen:
The waters of the sea shall dry up,
and the river shall be parched and dry.
The canals shall emit a stench;
the streams of Egypt will diminish and dry up;
the reeds and rushes shall wither.
The papyrus reeds by the brooks,
by the mouth of the brooks,
and everything sown by the brooks,
shall wither, be driven away, and be more more.
The fishermen also shall mourn,
and all those who cast a line into the brooks shall lament
and those who spread nets on the waters
shall languish. (Is. 19:5-8)
