"My visit to China [in May], and your visit today in Jerusalem, showcases the determination our two governments have to strengthen our friendship and improve cooperation between us," Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi Jerusalem on Wednesday.
Wang arrived in Israel Tuesday night for a three-day visit. "Our strengths complement one another," Netanyahu said. China has massive industrial and global reach. Israel has expertise in every area of high-tech. And I think the combination could be very, very beneficial to China and of course to Israel. Especially with regards to the fields we are talking about: science and technology, water management, agriculture, green energy and health services.
Likewise we want to increase cooperation between us in global transportation. I would like to talk to you about the rail road that will connect Asia and Europe, by going from the port of Eilat on the Red Sea to the Ashdod port on the Mediterranean. I believe this is important to global and Chinese commerce."
Netanyahu highlighted the two countries' shared values. "We both value education and families. We value knowledge and learning. We place importance on taking initiative and being entrepreneurial, something which both Israel and China have in great supply. I think Israel could be a perfect partner for
China in research and developm
"It gives me great pleasure to come to Israel," Wang said. "Indeed this is my first trip to this country as Chinese foreign minister. I have first and foremost come to Israel for the furtherance of friendship between our two countries. Indeed there is a profound traditional friendship between people of our two countries."
The Chinese foreign minister echoed Netanyahu's belief that Israel and China's economies are well fitted for one another. "I've also come to pursue stronger cooperation between our two countries. Our two economies are highly complementary, and the mutually beneficial cooperation between us enjoys a very bright future. During your visit to China this year, Mr. Prime Minister, you reached a very important agreement with President Xi Jinping, and Premier Li Keqiang of China on how to further deepen the mutually beneficial cooperation between our two countries.
I have come to explore with my Israeli counterpart on how to further implement all the important consensus and explore the various areas of even stronger cooperation between us so as to deliver greater benefits to both peoples," Wang said.
With regards to Middle East diplomacy. Wang said his country would "continue to play a positive role in the region." Netanyahu tried to rally the Chinese behind a deal to prevent Iran from being able to produce nuclear weapons. "We believe that for the peace of the world, for the peace of the coming years and decades, Iran must be denied the capability -- I stress the word -- the capability to develop nuclear weapons. It must fully comply with U.N. Security Council resolutions," Netanyahu said.
Wang recalled China's reception of Jews refugees during World War II, when other nations turned them away. "I believe this helped form the basis of the deep and valued friendship between our two countries, such a friendship should only be improved," he said.
Wang praised Netanyahu for initiating the efforts to improve ties with Chinese President Xi Jinping and Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang. "I came to see how to implement important agreements and evaluate different fields of increased cooperation with my Israeli colleagues, to the benefit of both nations," Wang said.
Israel and China recently agreed to lift the visa requirement for people holding diplomatic passports when traveling between the two countries.
Wang also met with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas on Wednesday and expressed hope that the peace talks between Israel and the Palestinians bear fruit.
Meanwhile, speaking at a Likud convention Wednesday night, Netanyahu reiterated his stance against the Iranian nuclear threat. "Seventy years after the attempted extermination of our people, comes a leader [in Iran] and says he will destroy the Jews and the Jewish state and is given legitimacy by the world, his spokesmen get a pat on the back.
We are not falling to temptation. When someone threatens to exterminate us, we take that threat seriously, and we will not allow Iran to develop military nuclear capability. Mark my words: We will not allow Iran to develop a military nuclear capability. Not only will we not accept a situation in which Iran has the bomb, but we will not accept them being able to manufacture one as well. There is a big difference between the two," he said.
Meanwhile, Yi praised the potential of Sino-Israeli cooperation Wednesday night at a banquet in the King David Hotel in Jerusalem. "With the Jewish mind, and a Chinese engine, we will build a machine that will reach the skies," he said.
During the event, organized by the Chinese embassy in Israel, the Association to Promote Israel-China ties and other Sino-Israeli groups, Wang emphasized the continuously improving ties between the two countries. "There is a Chinese saying -- true friendship only grows. By my understanding, this is the direction our two nations, who share a long history together, are going. Our goal today is to improve the ties between our countries for children and grandchildren's sake."
"I welcome you to Jerusalem, the eternal and united capital of Israel," Dr. Miriam Adelson told Wang at the banquet. "When countries around the world closed their doors to the Jews during the Holocaust, the Chinese people opened their nation's doors, accepted them with open arms and gave the Jews shelter and protection," she said.
Hebrew University President Professor Menachem Ben-Sasson also spoke at the event. "People ask us -- what is the secret to your success? Well, the secret is our daring to ask questions," he said. Ben-Sasson mentioned the university's archive of Albert Einstein's assorted works. "We uploaded his writings to the Internet in different languages, including Chinese; we had 25 million visitors in the first week, half of them from China."
The 12 Days of Christmas - the Hidden Meaning
There is one Christmas Carol that has always baffled me. What in the world do leaping lords, French hens, swimming swans, and especially the partridge who won't come out of the pear tree have to do with Christmas?
This week I received an email with the following . I found it very interesting and thought I'd share it with you.
From 1558 until 1829, Roman Catholics in England were not permitted to practice their faith openly. Someone during that era wrote this carol as a catechism song for young Catholics.
It has two levels of meaning: the surface meaning plus a hidden meaning known only to members of their church. Each element in the carol has a code word for a religious reality which the children could remember.
-The partridge in a pear tree was Jesus Christ.
-Two turtle doves were the Old and New Testaments.
-Three French hens stood for faith, hope and love.
-The four calling birds were the four gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke & John.
-The five golden rings recalled the Torah or Law, the first five books of the Old Testament.
-The six geese a-laying stood for the six days of creation.
-Seven swans a-swimming represented the seven-fold gifts of the Holy Spirit--Prophesy, Serving, Teaching, Exhortation, Contribution, Leadership, and Mercy.
-The eight maids a-milking were the eight beatitudes.
-Nine ladies dancing were the nine fruits of the Holy Spirit--Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness, and Self Control.
-The ten lords a-leaping were the Ten Commandments.
-The eleven pipers piping stood for the eleven faithful disciples.
-The twelve drummers drumming symbolized the twelve points of belief in the Apostles' Creed.

The decision by A&E to take "Duck Dynasty's" Phil Robertson off the air for comments he made on homosexuality and his faith has sparked a nationwide debate.
Meanwhile, the Robertson family is standing behind their patriarch, which means duck season could soon be coming to an end for A&E.
"While some of Phil's unfiltered comments to the reporter were coarse, his beliefs are grounded in the teachings of the Bible," the family said in a statement released late Thursday night. "We have had a successful working relationship with A&E, but as a family we cannot imagine the show going forward without our patriarch at the helm."
The reality TV show featuring the Robertson family's redneck charm and duck calls is one of the most popular in cable history, averaging 14 million viewers per episode - and its viewers aren't abandoning the Robertsons now.
More than a 100,000 people have signed a petition on I-Stand-With-Phil.com. And on Facebook, more than a million fans have signed on to a page boycotting A&E until Phil Robertson is returned to the show.
The social media site is coming under fire as well. The administrator for one of the pages supporting "Duck Dynasty" says Facebook locked him out for eight hours before telling him it was just an "accident."
"He was basing his comments... on biblical verse... and these are views that a lot of people hold." Matthew Belloni, executive editor of Hollywood Reporter, said.
Meanwhile, Albert Mohler, president of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, told CNN that Robertson did what any Christian should do.
"All throughout that article -- and by the way, the GQ article was very clear on this -- his concern was to help people to know their need for Christ, and to believe in Christ and to find salvation in Christ," Mohler said.
"And when he was talking about that list of sins he wasn't comparing one thing to another," he continued. "He was doing what the Bible does repeatedly, and that was put out a list of sins that includes all of us so that we know of our need for Christ."
Even Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal weighed in, saying, "The left is tolerant of every viewpoint except those who disagree with them."
Season five of "Duck Dynasty" is set to debut Jan. 15. Filming has already finished, and Phil Robertson is featured in all 10 episodes. It's still unclear how A&E will proceed.

Peace on Earth is the first Christmas album by American Christian rock band Casting Crowns. Produced by Mark Hall and Mark A. Miller, it was released on October 7, 2008. Intended by Hall to bring out the worshipful aspect of Christmas, the album does not have songs relating to secular Christmas traditions, instead featuring a mix of traditional Christmas carols and original songs. As co-producer, Hall attempted to differentiate the album from their previous ones by attempting to use creative ideas they had not tried before, and he also wanted to utilize the band's female members in a broader and more visible role on the album.
Upon its release, Peace on Earth met with mixed reviews. Some critics praised the album's emphasis on traditional Christmas songs and the worship aspect of Christmas, while others criticized the album's original songs and felt it was a disappointment in comparison to the band's previous albums. The album peaked at number one on the Billboard Christian Albums and Catalog Albums charts, number two on the Holiday Albums chart, and number fifteen on the Billboard 200. According to Casting Crowns' lead vocalist Mark Hall, Peace on Earth was written based on the question "How do you know there's peace on earth in a world that isn't very peaceful?" Hall opined that when people hear Christmas carols, they often don't hear their true message. Hall intended the album to help people rediscover the worshipful nature behind the carols. As an example of a message he wanted people to hear, he gave "I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day", a song written by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow about his rediscovery of hope amidst several personal tragedies.
Hall felt that the song's message of hope was one that his kids and their generation needed to hear. As a co-producer on the album, Hall wanted to introduce aspects and ideas that the band had not done before, and he felt the album offered a chance to branch out. He wanted the band's female members, Megan Garrett and Melodee DeVevo, to play a more prominent role, in part to show people "the gifts they have".

Upon its release, Peace on Earth met with a mixed reception from music critics. Jared Johnson of Allmusic gave the album 4.5 out of 5 stars, praising it for its "wide appeal" and for having "a cohesive set of songs that brings out the worship aspect of the holidays" and particularly praising "While You Were Sleeping" and "O Come, O Come, Emmanuel".
Andrew Greer of CCM Magazine gave it 3 out of 5 stars, regarding it as a let-down in comparison to the band's previous albums as well as holiday albums that other artists had put out. Russ Breimier of Christianity Today gave it 2 out of 5 stars, describing it as "predictable". However, he praised "While You Were Sleeping" as an example of Mark Hall's "bold, poignant songwriting". Tony Cummings of Cross Rhythms gave the album a perfect 10 out of 10 stars, saying that it "bucks all the trends in that it doesn't contain saccharine, sleigh bell-drenched arrangements nor those ghastly songs about Santa and chestnuts roasting in an open fire" and praising it as an "inventive and on occasions brilliant exploration of the wonders of the incarnation".
Justin Mabee of Jesus Freak Hideout gave the album 3 out of 5 stars, praising the traditional Christmas songs on the album but criticizing the original songs as having a "forced feel to them, almost like Casting Crowns wanted to do a whole album of traditional songs, but were told differently"; he remarked that "this would have probably worked better, because the originality is lacking in these few original Christmas tunes".
At the 40th GMA Dove Awards, Peace on Earth was nominated for and received the award for Christmas Album of the Year.

Is God miraculously protecting Israel?
By Lamb & Lion Ministries conducts a number of Bible conferences in the Dallas, Texas area each year. Our June 2013 conference theme was Living on Borrowed Time (watch). We also hold a special banquet afterwards, and there is where I gave an all new presentation on the prophetic significance of the resurgence of Israeli military power since the establishment of the state of Israel in 1948.
The following in an excerpt where I'll demonstrate using two examples how God continues to divinely protect Israel through miraculous, against-all-odds, military victories.
Battle of Yad Mordecai
Overall, the Israeli War of Independence in 1948 resulted in an incredible, unbelievable, marvelous victory for Israel, and during the war there were many miraculous events. I want to tell you about one that you will find hard to believe. It occurred at a kibbutz called Yad Mordecai which is located 36 miles south of Tel Aviv near the northern border of the Gaza strip. The kibbutz is located on the coastal road from Egypt to Tel Aviv.
The attacking Egyptian army consisting of 5,000 troops divided as it headed north. Half of the troops headed for Jerusalem and the other half of the troops went up the coastal highway toward Tel Aviv until they reached the kibbutz of Yad Mordecai.
It's one of the most marvelous places I've ever visited in Israel. There are the actual remains of that battle that can be visited.
The kibbutz had evacuated all of its children and most of its women as they prepared for the Egyptian attack. The kibbutz was left with only a handful of fighters, even some who were mere boys not more than 13 or 14 years old. The leader was an intellectual, and he was not a fighter. He was not a person who was a military person, so he didn't really know what he was doing. There were a few big fighters I wouldn't want to tangle with.
The kibbutz was left with only 130 defenders against the massive Egyptian army. In total, there were 110 kibbutzniks and there were 20 fighters who came down to help from Tel Aviv. That's all they could get because everyone knew this particular kibbutz was going to be slaughtered.
In preparation, the defenders dug trenches and reinforced them with sandbags. Their armament consisted of this: 37 rifles, one anti-tank gun, two light mortars, and two machine guns. That's all they had! Here's the frightening reality they faced as the Egyptian army with tanks approached.
There was no hope for the kibbutz. Everyone knew that.They knew that this was a suicide mission, but they were willing to take a suicide stand.
The Egyptians attacked furiously with ground troops, tank assaults, artillery barrages and air sorties. Incredibly, the Yad Mordecai defenders held out for five days! The Egyptians were not able to overrun the kibbutz until the defenders decided to retreat under the cover of darkness because more than one-half of them had been killed and the other half had been wounded. Over 300 Egyptian soldiers died in the battle and the five days gave the defenders of Tel Aviv the time to prepare their defenses.
The kibbutz today has left the vehicles that the Egyptians could not take with them and they put up metal figures to illustrate the coming army. They've also put up primitive weapons in the remaining trenches used against the Egyptian army for reenactment.
While the kibbutz held off the advancing Egyptian army, four Messerschmitt airplanes had arrived from Czechoslovakia. They'd been hastily assembled so that they could be used. They were deployed on May the 29th to help stop the Egyptian army before it could reach Tel Aviv.
How in the world could 130 untrained civilians with only rudimentary armament hold off the Egyptian army for five days? No one to this day has ever been able to explain it. It had to be a miracle of God.
Operation Thunderbolt
Let's now look at another example of how mightily God protects Israel, this time by empowering the Israeli Defense Forces through Operation Thunderbolt which occurred in June and July of 1976.
On June 27, 1976, an Air France flight from Tel Aviv to Paris made a stopover in Athens. It let off some passengers and picked up some new ones. Among the passengers they picked up were four terrorists consisting of two Palestinians and two Germans. They hijacked the plane as soon as it took off and took the plane to Benghazi, Libya where it was refueled. Then they flew it a great distance to the southern part of Africa to the nation of Uganda where President Idi Amin was waiting to welcome them. All of this had been pre-orchestrated. He was part of the deal and he was delighted to have all this attention from the world.
Upon landing, four more terrorists joined the group. They preceded to separate the hostages. All the Jews were identified and herded into a recently abandoned yet brand new terminal building. The rest of the passengers were released and flown to Paris. Amazingly, the Air France crew decided to stay behind with the Jewish hostages, so the number of hostages including the crew was 106 people.
The hijackers immediately issued an ultimatum. Israel was to either release the 53 terrorists held in Israel and four other countries, or all the hostages would be killed by July first.
The Israeli government immediately launched negotiations with the terrorists while considering a military alternative. As a result of the negotiations, the hijackers postponed the date. They postponed it to July 4, 1976.
After the deadline was postponed, a military alternative began to be considered by the Israelis. It's just unbelievable what Israel was up against, for they were talking about a military operation 2,500 miles south of Tel Aviv. The hijackers, Idi Amin, and all the people in Uganda never even occurred to them. Never once had the Israelis ever considered there would be any kind of military action because the distance was just too far.
As it turned out, the Israelis had two advantages. The first was they were able to interview all the passengers who had been released. That was a big mistake of the terrorists, because they could tell the Israelis in detail about the building and where the people were being held. Second, and this is unbelievable, the Israelis discovered that the abandoned terminal building had been built by an Israeli company. They were then able to get all the blueprints of the building. Coincidence?
Lieutenant Colonel Yoni Netanyahu, or Jonathan Netanyahu as his nickname was Yoni, was selected to lead the commando assault team. He was the older brother of the man who now serves as the Prime Minister of Israel today. He is Benjamin Netanyahu's older brother. Although Yoni was only 30 years old at the time, he had accumulated an outstanding record of military leadership and daring which advanced him early to the position of Lieutenant Colonel.
To prepare the team for the attack, Yoni came up with an idea that has been followed by military and police forces around the world since that time. He took bales of hay and put them end to end, laying out the exact floor plan of the building to the exact size, including all the doors and so forth. Then his team practiced mock assault after mock assault on this mock building as they prepared, just in case the Israeli Cabinet said, "Go get them."
Well, the Israeli Cabinet did finally say, "Go get them!" And so, on July 3rd, they launched the attack. The attack came out of an air base in southern Israel.
Yoni used four Lockheed C-130 Hercules airplanes and two Boeing 747s in the raid. More than 100 personnel were recruited. They were divided into five teams. Yoni's assault team consisted of 29 elite commandos. A second group was assigned the job of encircling the new terminal building, immobilizing it, and killing all the Ugandan soldiers. A third was given the task of destroying all the MiG fighters on the ground. That was very important because they didn't want those fighters coming after these big, old, slow airplanes. A fourth group was assigned the responsibility of refueling the Israeli airplanes. Finally, a fifth squad was put in charge of rounding up and evacuating the hostages.
The mission was launched and set on the afternoon of July third. The planes flew nearly all the way at an altitude of 100 feet to avoid radar detection. Just try flying a plane as big as a Boeing 747 or one of these Hercules at 100 feet. It's not easy. The flight took seven hours and 40 minutes. They arrived just one minute behind schedule. Uganda was on a different time than Israel, but they arrived one minute behind schedule at 12:01 AM, which is the beginning of July 4, 1976.
The surprise blitz attack proved successful beyond any expectation. All seven of the hijackers who were present were killed, together with 33-45 Ugandan soldiers, and all eight MiG fighters on the ground were destroyed.
Three hostages died in the crossfire. As the commandos went in they began to yell, "Get on the floor! Get on the floor!" Some of the people didn't understand Hebrew and they stood up and got shot. Ten more hostages were wounded. One was left behind because she had been taken to the hospital.
A total of 102 hostages were taken back to Israel alive.Five Israeli commandos were wounded. Only one commando was killed, and that was Yoni Netanyahu, the leader of the raid, himself. His grave can be seen at Israel's National Cemetery, which is a place that I always visit when leading tours to Israel.
The entire raid including the refueling of the planes and the evacuation of the hostages took a total of only one hour and 39 minutes. To this day this amazing raid is considered to be one of the most outstanding examples of military planning, coordination, and execution in the entire annuals of history.
Meaning Behind the Might
What does Israel's military rising into a world power today all mean to Christians at the beginning of the 21st Century? What does it mean to you and me? What message should we take home?
I can assure you it means a lot. Think about it. God is fulfilling promises He made to Israel over 2,000 years ago, and He's fulfilling them in precise detail. That should get you excited for two reasons. First, it's a definite sign that we are living in the season of the Lord's return. Second, it should assure you that God is going to precisely fulfill every promise He has made to you and to me, to His Church.
I get so excited every time I see God fulfilling promises for the Jews, because I know it's an absolute guarantee that He's going to fulfill every promise He has made to you and to me. He has promised that one day very soon Jesus will appear in the heavens to rapture the Church out of this world. The dead in Christ will be resurrected first, then those of us who are alive will be taken, not even experiencing death. We will be translated from mortal to immortal in the blinking of an eye.
We'll then be taken back to Heaven where we will be judged of our works to determine not our salvation but our degrees of reward. Then we will celebrate our union with Jesus at a great Wedding Feast.
At the end of that wedding feast, Jesus is going to stand up and say something like, "OK, let's go!" Jesus will return to this earth, and we will come with Him. We will be there in Jerusalem to witness His arrival on the Mount of Olives. We will be there to witness the salvation of the remnant of the Jews. We will hear Him speak that supernatural word which will result in the instantaneous destruction of the Antichrist and his armies. And we will then shout, "Hosanna, Hosanna" as Jesus descends into the Kidron Valley on His white horse and rides up to that Eastern Gate to institute his thousand year kingdom here on earth.
