A Land Flowing With Milk, Honey and Natural Gas - ISRAEL TODAY

A Land Flowing With Milk, Honey and Natural Gas

Wednesday, August 21, 2013 |  Yossi Aloni, Israel Today
With mounting instability in Egypt, supplier of 40 percent of Israel's natural gas, the recent Israeli discoveries of massive gas fields came just in time, and many here see the new found wealth of natural resources of miracle from God.
Others caution that "energy resources, no matter how great, can never be a substitute for our Creator."

Ahava Love Letter - “Disappointed with Small Beginnings?” (Steve Martin)

         “Disappointed with Small Beginnings?”

“The Lord is close to those who have suffered disappointment.
He saves those who are discouraged.” Psalm 34:18

Dear family of friends,

Disappointments happen to each of us. We work long and hard for a special event, a needed life change, a relationship gone sour needing to be rebuilt…and yet we so often experience hurt and frustration when it doesn’t happen the way we had hoped. And even expected the way it should have.

Then we want to blame God, while asking the question which often haunts many, “Why God?”

It happened to me again. But by this time I had learned not to question the One who loves, the One who cares, the One who I know had asked me to do something, and so I did. It didn’t turn out the way I had expected, or at least had hoped it would. But then after many starts and finishes now, you get back up and go on. Persistence will pay off if we don’t quit.

When only eight people showed up for the event (and five were from my own family), for which I had been planning for months, and had spent time, energy and money on while expecting at least 30-50, I was truly disappointed. As I sat there on the table, before the cars would start pulling up, after the final two hour long decorating and other preparations had been done, I fought against that which I knew wanted to attack me.

Disappointment. Rejection. The lying voice whispering, “You really didn’t hear His voice, did you?”

Several times over the years, I knew that I knew - in my “knower” as one Bible teacher used to say – that I had heard the Lord, did what He asked, and then didn’t get the expected results. At least not at the start.

Whether it involved a ministry job change, a major move for the family, a purchase of great value, or sharing a word with someone and then getting some backlash, it took time before the real purpose of the Lord was understood and the promise fulfilled.

I have learned, after much practice of course, that His ways are not our ways. He led Moses to the Red Sea, with what seemed to be an impossible way of crossing, after leading the Hebrews out of bondage. Joshua had to march his army around a stronghold city seven times. What was he thinking after the 6th lap? Daniel was placed in the lion’s den. Did it at any time first cross his mind, “If only I had obeyed the king and avoided this.”

Really God? Is this how you operate?

It sure is. They were able to face that because of the lessons they committed themselves to learn in the long process leading up to that point.

The Lord God Almighty wants to teach us to simply obey His word first. He wants us to step out and do what we believe He has called us to do. The results are to be left in His hands; not in our well planned out ones. As we learn to walk through that which we face today, the bigger giants yet coming will be looked at with faith and courage too.

It may be years before we realize that the seed planted in the dirt will become a mighty tree, or the word spoken to that person will long settle in their spirit, and they become the next Billy Graham.

The Lord is not short on time, or bringing about His planned purposes. He knows the beginning from the end. After all, He IS the Father of time, the Creator of all things. And His plans and purposes will come about, even as He truly has spoken. After all, Jesus (Yeshua) rose from the dead, proving that He is true and we can eternally believe His word.

Take courage in hearing His voice. Don’t give up or allow disappointments in small beginnings to keep you from seeking the Lord with your whole heart, mind, will and emotions. He is the Rewarder, and you will see the good results.

It just takes a little more time.

Ahava Love Letter (#63) - "Anxious"

                         "Anxious”

My times are in Your hand; Deliver me from the hand of my
enemies and from those who persecute me. Make Your face
to shine upon Your servant; Save me in Your lovingkindness.”
Psalm 31:15-16 NASU

Dear family of friends,

When I find myself in times of trouble…” Words from a popular song, even these many years after being recorded by Paul and his friends. I used to think he was talking about Mary, the birth mother of Yeshua (Jesus). I later learned it was about his own mother. I guess that was whom he turned to when he needed help, and I would think she provided some.

When you are anxious, who do you turn to? Yourself? A family member or friend? Your pet Fido? Your favorite glass of wine or the TV comedy show?

We all seek comfort in someone or something more often than not it seems these days. Just trying to relieve the stress of the daily grind on the job; having that financial lack, with more bills piling up; or the relationship that constantly churns away in our awaken and even nightly thoughts.

The words that I have learned to speak during these moments of anxiety are simply, “My times are in Your hands.” A simple prayer to the Lord (Adonai), asking for His intervention in what is troubling me at the moment. Whether I am in distress over the next mortgage payment or the situation at work for which I need better understanding, my heart cry often is to the Lord, saying My times are in Your hands.”

The singer Paul continues in his own words, “speaking words of wisdom, let it be, let it be.” Let it be what? Make it just go away?

Sometimes our stress release choice doesn’t hold up under the continuing load that befalls each of us. And then ruin comes, resulting in poor health, broken marriages, or lost time in doing anything worth the eternal value it could and should have.

Our faith, or as the Complete Jewish Bible puts it, our trust, must abide in that Person Whom has proven to give peace and security. If you want a Rock to stand on, I know of no other that has been shown stronger. Who can compare? None can compare.

We need not to just endure another day, and end up with wasted years. Our Creator has a good plan for each of us, and also a good path He will take us on, if we keep our eyes fixed on Him, and our faith in His purposes.

As I daily speak His promise - that my steps are ordained by Him - my confidence grows. Especially as I see His hand guiding and leading me in the way I should go, and grow.

My trust in His provision also expands, as I see Him provide in unexpected ways. This builds on the expectations of His constant love and direction.

As I walk the enduring walk, I find myself not asking mother Mary to help, but speaking to Him Who alone gives us our heart’s desire, declaring “My times are in Your hand.” Thank you Jesus.

Learn to rest in His abiding peace. Give Him the opportunity to show Himself strong on your behalf, as you continually call upon His name. He will be there for you. Even today.

July 4th - Christian Quotes of the Founding Fathers

This is what they really said. And they didn't "separate" church and state. Steve Martin, Editor

Christian Quotes of the Founding Fathers - Quotes on Christianity, Faith, Jesus and the Bible

No one can deny that many of the founding fathers of the United States of America were men of deep religious convictions based in the Bible and their Christian faith in Jesus Christ. Of the 56 men who signed the Declaration of Independence, nearly half (24) held seminary or Bible school degrees.

These Christian quotes of the founding fathers will give you an overview of their strong moral and spiritual convictions which helped form the foundations of our nation and our government.

George Washington
1st U.S. President

"While we are zealously performing the duties of good citizens and soldiers, we certainly ought not to be inattentive to the higher duties of religion. To the distinguished character of Patriot, it should be our highest glory to add the more distinguished character of Christian."
--The Writings of Washington, pp. 342-343.

John Adams
2nd U.S. President and Signer of the Declaration of Independence

"Suppose a nation in some distant Region should take the Bible for their only law Book, and every member should regulate his conduct by the precepts there exhibited! Every member would be obliged in conscience, to temperance, frugality, and industry; to justice, kindness, and charity towards his fellow men; and to piety, love, and reverence toward Almighty God ... What a Eutopia, what a Paradise would this region be."
--Diary and Autobiography of John Adams, Vol. III, p. 9.

"The general principles, on which the Fathers achieved independence, were the only Principles in which that beautiful Assembly of young Gentlemen could Unite, and these Principles only could be intended by them in their address, or by me in my answer. And what were these general Principles?

I answer, the general Principles of Christianity, in which all these Sects were United: And the general Principles of English and American Liberty, in which all those young Men United, and which had United all Parties in America, in Majorities sufficient to assert and maintain her Independence.

"Now I will avow, that I then believe, and now believe, that those general Principles of Christianity, are as eternal and immutable, as the Existence and Attributes of God; and that those Principles of Liberty, are as unalterable as human Nature and our terrestrial, mundane System."
--Adams wrote this on June 28, 1813, excerpt from a letter to Thomas Jefferson.

"The second day of July, 1776, will be the most memorable epoch in the history of America. I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated by succeeding generations as the great anniversary Festival. It ought to be commemorated, as the Day of Deliverance, by solemn acts of devotion to God Almighty.

It ought to be solemnized with pomp and parade, with shows, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires and illuminations, from one end of this continent to the other, from this time forward forever."
--Adams wrote this in a letter to his wife, Abigail, on July 3, 1776.

Thomas Jefferson
3rd U.S. President, Drafter and Signer of the Declaration of Independence

"God who gave us life gave us liberty. And can the liberties of a nation be thought secure when we have removed their only firm basis, a conviction in the minds of the people that these liberties are of the Gift of God? That they are not to be violated but with His wrath? Indeed, I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just; that His justice cannot sleep forever;

That a revolution of the wheel of fortune, a change of situation, is among possible events; that it may become probable by Supernatural influence! The Almighty has no attribute which can take side with us in that event."
--Notes on the State of Virginia, Query XVIII, p. 237.

"I am a real Christian – that is to say, a disciple of the doctrines of Jesus Christ."
--The Writings of Thomas Jefferson, p. 385.

John Hancock
1st Signer of the Declaration of Independence

"Resistance to tyranny becomes the Christian and social duty of each individual. ... Continue steadfast and, with a proper sense of your dependence on God, nobly defend those rights which heaven gave, and no man ought to take from us."
--History of the United States of America, Vol. II, p. 229.

Benjamin Franklin
Signer of the Declaration of Independence and Unites States Constitution

"Here is my Creed. I believe in one God, the Creator of the Universe. That He governs it by His Providence. That He ought to be worshipped.

"That the most acceptable service we render to him is in doing good to his other children. That the soul of man is immortal, and will be treated with justice in another life respecting its conduct in this. These I take to be the fundamental points in all sound religion, and I regard them as you do in whatever sect I meet with them.

"As to Jesus of Nazareth, my opinion of whom you particularly desire, I think the system of morals and his religion, as he left them to us, is the best the world ever saw, or is likely to see;

"But I apprehend it has received various corrupting changes, and I have, with most of the present dissenters in England, some doubts as to his divinity; though it is a question I do not dogmatize upon, having never studied it, and think it needless to busy myself with it now, when I expect soon an opportunity of knowing the truth with less trouble.

I see no harm, however, in its being believed, if that belief has the good consequence, as probably it has, of making his doctrines more respected and more observed; especially as I do not perceive, that the Supreme takes it amiss, by distinguishing the unbelievers in his government of the world with any peculiar marks of his displeasure."
--Benjamin Franklin wrote this in a letter to Ezra Stiles, President of Yale University on March 9, 1790.
