"This Land Shall Become Yours" ✡ Hebrew Lesson of the Day

You shall inherit the Land, each tribe equal to his brother, about which I raised My hand to give it to your forefathers; this Land shall become yours as aninheritance.

EZEKIEL (47:14)

In Hebrew, the word for ‘inherit’ is נַחֲלָה / na-kha-la. The word also has another meaning, “a flowing stream” as in Deuteronomy (8:7), “A land of streams of waters.” What is the connection between inheritance and a stream? Just like a stream of water flows, so too the inheritance of a precious legacy flows and passes through one generation to the next. Learn more about Biblical Hebrew with a Hebrew word a day eMail.

No Short of a Miracle

Two days ago, Israel celebrated Jerusalem day, marking the reunification of Jerusalem. In 1967, Israeli paratroopers liberated the eastern half of the city, making their way to the Kotel at the base of the Temple Mount.  The success of Israeli forces during the Six Day War can only be attributed to the help of God.

Amid Christian Persecution, There Is Good News in the Middle East

Egyptian Coptic Christians have suffered mass persecution recently.
Egyptian Coptic Christians have suffered mass persecution recently. (Reuters )

Strang Report, by Steven Strang, Founder of Charisma magazine
At the recent meeting at the United Nations highlighting the persecution of Christians, there was a surprisingly positive report from one presenter who said that the church is growing in Iran, in spite of or because of the persecution of Christians by Muslims.
As already reported, there is plenty of bad news from the region. Each year, 100 million Christians suffer persecution, imprisonment and even death for their sacred religious beliefs. According to The Voice of the Martyrs, a ministry dedicated to assisting the persecuted church worldwide, "more people have died for their faith in Christ in the last 100 years" than in the previous 19 centuries combined.
While it seems in some countries we are literally seeing watching the genocide of Jesus' followers in the Middle East, the Iranian speaker who now lives in the United States says the church is growing largely because of Christian television being beamed into the country. There is a real spiritual vacuum; people long for a spiritual reality that Islam cannot provide.
Recently I interviewed Christian leaders from three different Muslim nations. One source explained to me that ISIS considers moderate Muslims as infidels, so they also have a "price to pay." As Shia and Sunni Muslims fight each other, "a Shia mosque being destroyed (one day) and the next day a Sunni mosque being destroyed (isn't uncommon)," he told me. "And in between, of course, Christians were being smashed especially when they are located under the region of ISIS. So, in general, the Christians are paying a very high price, but other Muslims are suffering too, especially those like the Yazidi people. They pay a very high price exactly like the Christians because they are considered as infidel from the ISIS groups."
But, now for some good news. For their security, I am giving no names and being ambiguous about locations. For authenticity, I'm quoting my sources as much as possible within the bullet points. Let the facts speak for themselves. To my knowledge, these stories have never before been reported.
  • "The good part of the story, is that God is using this to change the perspective of Christians in front of many Muslims. God is using this to open the eyes and ears of many Muslims to see the reality of who God is. God is not the God of violence. God should be the God of love—should be the good God, the God that the gospel is preached so many of them are coming, seeking and asking about the things of Christianity.
  • "While the Christians under the persecution, they were very giving, very loving, blessing. Every time they were interviewed after such a massacre, they spoke positively toward the country, toward Muslims, forgiving their persecutors, praying for them, asking forgiveness for them which is unheard of.
  • "Every time Muslims were killed, their families, their parents asked for revenge. Here, every time they asked for forgiveness so many people started to compare. What is this? What spirit do you have? This is completely out of the box, out of their expectations. So God is using this in a mighty way to bring glory to Himself and to bring people to reconciliation with Him, with themselves and with their community.
  • "More than that, now in Egypt, the government is trying to do their best to pay back what the Christians did to save the country. It could have been a civil war between the Christians and Muslims, but because the Christians reacted in a loving and forgiving way, (Christians) saved Egypt. The Muslim community came to us and said, Because of you, God saved Egypt. God saved us because of the church. For the first time, the Muslim community is changing their perspective about the church and Christians.
  • "Systematically, the radical Muslim, they are doing something to wipe out, if possible, you know, the Christian community, the radical Muslim. But the moderate Muslim actually is good. They are a friend of Christians. But this radical, they are like terrorists, so they keep attacking.
I'll close with an incredible story from Indonesia, where Christians showed love to the Muslims who persecuted them. Outside of Afghanistan, Indonesia, is considered the second largest base of the radical, like al-Qaida, even ISIS. Yet the church is growing at a rate of 2 million converts a year. If you missed my report on this, click here.
Persecution in Indonesia is less in the big cities, where most of the problems where laws are passed to keep churches from renting public buildings. But in some of the outlying islands, there is real persecution. One story of Christian love and forgiveness shows why the church is growing. Again, I'm quoting my source, edited only for space and clarity.
  • "So there was a village in the east side of Indonesia. One day radical Muslims used this opportunity to that village. The village is mostly Christian, so they burned their houses, killed them, and they came with 500 soldiers with all the weapons. But then the Christians were cornered into a church building inside, so they killed 211 of them in one day and injured about 140 people. And then, the church, you know, next day they buried the dead and it was so sad. And so they made a monument there. (After this the Christians ministered to the Muslims) and because of the love of the Christian many were born again. They accepted Christ; there was a revival.
  • "(So the Christians) began to pray, 'Lord, we don't have any building on Sunday to worship You. Can you give us money to rebuild it?' So when they prayed, God spoke to them, you know, 'I don't want you to use the money to rebuild your church first. I want you to collect the first offering and give it to the Muslims who killed you, who persecuted you. Give it to them so they can renovate their mosque also.' So they obeyed. Very hard for them, you know, because they were the enemy of them. But anyway, after they prayed, they were convinced by God and then they said, 'OK, God. We want to obey.' So they took that first offering, which is huge for them, $5,000 U.S. dollars. And then, they brought that money with praise and worship. I think about 2,000 people marched to the next village, you know, with joy, came to them and said, 'God told us to give you this money to rebuild your village and your facilities.' The Muslim leader wept. They said, 'Why you love us? We attacked you. We destroyed your building. Why you love us?'
  • "The Christians said, 'Because Jesus told us to do this.' They all wept and one of them stood up and said, 'Hey, Muslim people, we need to do something. Go to the jungle and cut all the bamboo tree and donate it to the church.' So they took all the bamboo trees and brought it to the church and donated it. So the government was so moved because of this, what the Christians did to the Muslims, so the government decided to give $15,000 U.S. dollars to rebuild the church building and by the help of many churches, you know, the church was able to rebuild and very beautiful, not only the church building but the people now experience tremendous revival. Now they are born again and almost 100 percent of that village become Christian."

Heart Growing Cold? - Now Think On This by Steve Martin

Heart Growing Cold?
- Now Think On This
by Steve Martin

“At that time many will be trapped into betraying and hating each other, many false prophets will appear and fool many people; and many people’s love will grow cold because of increased distance from Torah. But whoever holds out till the end will be delivered. And this Good News about the Kingdom will be announced throughout the whole world as a witness to all the Goyim. It is then that the end will come.” (Matt 24:10-14 Complete Jewish Bible)

Murderous evil has become rampant – beheadings, burnings, torture, rape and killings. So much martyrdom is occurring daily in several nations, as the evil one pours out his wrath on the believers of Jesus (Yeshua) and those of the Chosen Ones. Captured as prisoners, tortured for their faith in the only True God; refusing to bow down to the false god – our brothers and sisters are being slaughtered for standing for truth.

As some would watch this daily news, is it possible that hearts are growing cold, replacing the fire that once burned within, and turning their love away? Is it possible that many people’s love would indeed grow cold, as Jesus prophesied 2000 years ago, and not hold onto the end? Yes it is.

Turning away from the truth, out of growing fear, promises that seem to have been forgotten, or just plain lack of anymore concern and compassion are sweeping across the nations in the hearts of those who once called themselves Christians. Leaving churches, quitting daily reading of the Word and dismissing the need to maintain a prayer life are causing once strong believers to betray, abandon and even hate the ones they had walked with in harmony in years gone by. Is this another sign of the end? Yes it is.

As the heat has been turned up, the frog in the slowly increased temperature of the water has become unaware of his true surroundings. As such, an ongoing lack of discernment and a displaced knowledge of foundational truths have left many behind, when the time to stand strong is needed all the more, at the most vital time in all history.

“…and many people’s love will grow cold because of increased distance from Torah.” (Matt. 24:12 CJB). As pastors, rabbis and spiritual leaders increasingly exchange the eternal truth found in the Scriptures for the lies of the current age, standards have fallen to their lowest levels. Nothing remains black and white, as replacement theology and the belief that anything and everything is OK has blinded the eyes that once had seen the light.

Biblical marriage (one man and one woman), love for our unborn children, a firm grasp of solid commitment to the Lord’s principles, and maintaining a strong support for Israel and the Jewish right to the Promised Land – these have all fallen by the wayside as the deceptive spiritual cloud slowly blankets the people. Many false prophets have appeared and fooled the people – even beginning in the church, as liberal, unholy doctrines and Chrislam, among other lies, have taken root.

“But the one who endures to the end, he will be saved.  This gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all the nations, and then the end will come.” (Matt. 24:13-14 NASU)

We who know the Truth, who have called upon the Name of the Lord Jesus, Yeshua HaMashiach, must endure to the end. By the grace available to us through His blood and Resurrected Life, we can be among those who do stand until the end, proclaiming the truth of the Good News and bringing a testimony to all the nations. As the dark gets darker, surely the light will shine brighter in these days that we live in.

We must not let our hearts grow cold. These times are not for the faint of heart, but for the warriors who have been given life to share His love in the dying world.

New Shoes - Now Think On This by Steve Martin

New Shoes
- Now Think On This
by Steve Martin

“And no one puts new wine in old wineskins; if he does, the wine will burst the skins, and both the wine and the skins will be ruined. Rather, new wine is for freshly prepared wineskins.” Mark 2:22 CJB

I put on my new pair of work dress shoes recently. At first they felt over tight, uncomfortable, and squeezed my big toe into the corner spot so much that it couldn’t wiggle if it wanted to. They just didn’t fit right, as I thought they would once home, after that brief moment I tried them on at the store, just before I picked out an extra pair of gray socks, and the loaf of whole wheat bread my wife asked for as I went out the door.

But then that was last month. Today, after wearing them and having “broken them in”, they are just like my favorite old pair that I had to throw out, due to wear and tear after seven years.

If you think about it for a moment, it is like a new job, a new home setup, a new car (even if the new one is just a little younger than the previous one), or anything we now have that is different than what we had become used to. Until we gave it some time to work out the kinks and the normal, uncomfortable newness, which we had really appreciated with the old that we had, it didn’t feel right, or as good as the previous one. But having given it some time to grow on us, it surely does now. It has become even better than what we had before.

When the Holy Spirit brings revival again, knowing He certainly has promised to do so, as written in His Word for these last days, it will not be what we are used to. In fact, He may even get rejected by the old guard as He did when He came in previous visitations, as the experiences are not what we have now become accustomed to, since the last time of touching this planet in a major way.

“You are not from these parts, are you?” could be the response of some who look on from a distance, upon that which will be going on. Ruach HaKodesh, and those He has put new wine into, could easily be dismissed as just having another emotional experience or fanatic outburst, as the new movement overshadows the previous ones from the Pentecostal decades, the healing years, or the last, great Charismatic Movement I was involved with in the ‘70’s and onward.

This coming revival, effecting the nations with the powerful Good News of salvation, healing and the love of the Father God, will so impact people, that the new wine will cause the old to be done away with, replaced with a fresh fullness that we didn’t think could, or would, happen again. Because we had not seen it before, it will transform our lives in such a way that we will boldly face the enemy, confidently proclaim the Gospel, and tear down the walls that have surrounded the cozy churches, keeping us from effecting the world as we have been called to do.

“Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.” Mark 16:15 NASU

We will be getting out of the pew and into the pasture, going where the lost sheep are throughout the world. Some are even right next to us in the office desk, or the one occupying the white house down the street.

Those blinded by the spiritual forces of Islam, Hinduism, secular humanism, “sexual freedom” and other lies of the enemy will be set free, as the Lord Jesus Christ, Yeshua HaMashiach, moves in to break the bondages and strongholds that have ravaged the nations we have been called to be in and shine throughout.

As the old pair of shoes has worn out, it is time to get on a new pair. They will feel uncomfortable at first, but once our feet adjust to them, by His grace working within us, they will take us to places we had only dreamed of going before.

I am looking forward to this next revival outpouring movement of the Lord and His Holy Spirit, to bring it on and get us going.

Thank you Lord for new shoes!

Tree of Life - Messianic Torah (Bible)

Brand New Professionally Vetted Text:

With God’s help, our team has assembled a brand new English translation of the New Covenant using the 27th Nestle-Aland Novum Testamentum Graece and over a dozen additional resources including every mainstream, vetted English Bible translation.

Plus, we especially enjoyed learning from the work of the HNV scholars, and the work of David Stern in the Complete Jewish Bible.  Our fervent hope was to render a messianic sensitive text that would be as accurate as the NASB, as reverent as the NKJV, and as readable as the NIV.

We pray our effort is worthy of the great and mighty God we serve.  We stand in awe of His Name.

The Messianic Jewish Family Bible (MJFB) is a not-for-profit that produces the Tree of Life Bible version (TLV).

This brand new translation is a fully vetted Biblical text put together by Messianic Jews and Christians.

It is our goal to provide this new translation as a resource to the community while gathering families to study the word of God together.

We seek to spread the Good News of Yeshua Messiah abroad to all mankind.

"...entrusted with the sayings of God."

Rabbi Paul, in the Book of Romans, reminded the mixed crowd of new believers, Jew and Gentile alike, that the Jewish people were charged with the task of preserving the Holy Scriptures from their very first calling as a “people.”

In May 2008, this project started as the desire of one small group of Rabbis’ wives hoping to publish a Messianic Jewish Children’s Bible. Instead, God breathed on this spark and He revitalized our “people” in a move so powerful it reunited families, restored dialog between our organizations and gave our movement a fresh vision of what we could accomplish TOGETHER. We desire to be a living epistle to both our devoted Christian brethren and our beloved Jewish global family.
Originally, our desire to use “Messiah Yeshua” instead of “Jesus Christ” and the Jewish book order instead of the Christian book order for the Old Testament seemed meager goals. Few of us had any idea how big the chasm between our worlds was. But, make no mistake, Christianity is based on Judaism. There is so much more that connects us than divides us, and this text is in the homestretch!

Since our inception: a children’s Bible became a family Bible, one translator multiplied into 25, a $5000 check gave seed to $250,000 in donations, a single translation became a collaborative work, the Greek sentence structure was restored to Hebrew sentence structure, faith turned into a verb instead of a noun, salvation became Yeshua, and peace became shalom.

Listed inside are the benchmarks of our miraculous growth. There is plenty more information on our website and Facebook page. And, we encourage you to read the Tree of Life New Covenant to travel a faith journey of your own.
The goal of our 501(c)(3) organization is to translate, guard and preserve a brand new Messianic Jewish Biblical Text for generations. With Destiny Image publishing this text, they will move it into the national marketplace.
As the keepers of the text, WE will make the Good News available on the internet and cell phones for free for the entire world. We stand with Rabbi Paul. We are “not ashamed of the Good News, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who trusts—to the Jew first and also to the Greek.”

(You can also purchase the Bible on their website)
