7 Positive End-Times Signs Unfolding Now - PERRY STONE

7 Positive End-Times Signs Unfolding Now

Not all signs related to the return of Christ are negative (as are wars, famines, earthquakes, and so on) in nature. Many are very encouraging and exciting. There are seven events that have transpired and are continuing to unfold that are a part of the restitution and give evidence of the coming of Christ. They are:
  1. Israel would be restored as a nation in one day (Isa. 66:7-8; Zech. 3:9; Hos. 3:4-5).
  2. The land would begin to blossom and be fruitful (Isa. 35:1-8; 27:6).
  3. Water would break out in the desert for irrigation (Isa. 35:6-7; 41:18).
  4. Jerusalem would be in Jewish hands and expand its borders (Ps. 102:16).
  5. Jews from Gentile nations outside Palestine would return back to Israel (Isa. 43:5-6; Jer. 16:14-16).
  6. The early and latter rains would return in the last days (Hos. 6:3; Joel 2:23; Amos 4:7).
  7. The walls of Jerusalem would be rebuilt by strangers and the gates be open continually (Isa. 60:1-11).
Israel's restoration process began during the 1800s with the birth of the Zionist Movement, but it was manifested to the world on May 14-15, 1948, when David Ben-Gurion made a proclamation declaring a new state for Jews called Israel. Part of the proclamation read: "The State of Israel will be open for immigration of Jews from all countries of their dispersion." Within hours, Arab armies advanced toward the infant nation to abort the plan. Just as ancient Israel had to deal with seven nations living around them in Joshua's time (Deut. 7:1), in 1948 the Jews had to deal with troops from seven surrounding Arab nations who announced the Jews would be "thrown into the sea." A war of independence was waged in which Israel survived against amazing odds. Today they boast one of the most advanced militaries in the world.
One of Ben-Gurion's goals was to fulfill the prophecy of Isaiah and make the desert blossom with vegetation. In 1953, at age 67, Ben-Gurion resigned as prime minister of Israel to pursue his dream. This former Israeli leader and his wife, Paula, moved into a three-room wooden prefab hut at Sde Boker in the desolate Negev Desert. It was a dry, empty, sun-baked landscape. Years later, Beersheba, the hometown of Abraham, became a large town, and today more than 54 farms are scattered throughout a region called the Arabah—the Negev and the southern part of Israel—producing tomatoes, peppers, melons and a host of fruits and vegetables. Today, the desert is blossoming.
Ben-Gurion and other early Israeli settlers were also responsible for laying water pipelines to assist in irrigation. Years later, U.S. satellites discovered a huge reservoir of water under the desert, which today is pumped out and is the lifeblood used in the drip irrigation process, enabling the desert to blossom with agricultural life.
In 1967, Egyptian military forces, headed by Egyptian president Gamal Abdel Nasser, threatened Israel and were planning an attack. Israel preempted the assault with an air campaign, destroying Egypt's air force while the planes were still on the runway. During this Six-Day War involving Egypt, Jordan, and Syria, Israeli paratroopers seized the eastern (Arab) half of Jerusalem. At this time, this section was known as the country of Transjordan. At the conclusion of the war, Israel annexed both East and West Jerusalem together, forming a united Jerusalem under Israeli control. At that moment Jerusalem was united as one city without walls and became the long-promised capital of Israel.
Although from 1948 to 1967 Jews continually immigrated to Israel from surrounding nations, the Russian Jews living behind the Iron Curtain were forbidden visas to exit the communist stronghold. In the latter part of the 1980s, with the approval of Mikhail Gorbachev, Jews received visas to return from the north country of the Soviet Union back to Israel, thus fulfilling the promises God gave them through Jeremiah and Isaiah thousands of years ago.
Years later, in the early 1990s, there was a sudden return of the physical rains that soaked the soil of Israel, thus replenishing and nourishing the farmland, the deserts and the Upper Golan Heights. As the windows of heaven were opened, once-dry riverbeds were flowing with fresh water. It was a sign of the return of the latter rains upon the land.
Today, the old city of Jerusalem is shared by the world's three monotheistic religions: Islam, Judaism and Christianity. Out of the eight gates built in the walls of the old city, only one, the Eastern Gate, remains sealed with large stones. All other gates are opened to citizens and visitors. Children are seen strolling along the streets continually amidst noisy buses and cars, occasionally darting in and out of the crowd that fills avenues throughout the day.

"The Signs of the Harvest! Can You See the Signs?" Steve Scroggs

The Signs and Wonders in Our Midst

Behold, I and the children whom the Lord hath given me are for signs and for wonders in Israel from the Lord of hosts, which dwelleth in mount Zion. Isaiah 8:18 KJV

"Signs, signs, everywhere are signs. Can you see the signs?"

Is what John Harris, a man of God greeted me with as we were sitting down for coffee. Then he said, "I have also seen this country go into great revival... There were coliseums full of people. I could hear the testimonies of the people, as they were touched by the Holy Spirit." The Father is speaking through a cloud.

The mystery of God's voice demands attention when a sign escorts the revelation. The Scripture is clear in Amos 3:6-8: "If a trumpet is blown in a city, will not the people be afraid? If there is calamity in a city, will not the Lord have done it? Surely the Lord God does nothing, unless He reveals His secret to His servants the prophets. A lion has roared! Who will not fear? The Lord God has spoken! Who can but prophesy?"

This statement begs an answer to at least four questions. One, is God speaking? Two, what is God saying? Three, is there a sign escorting the message? And if so, four, what is the choice for action?

Is God speaking? Expression is a part of His eternal nature. Before the fall, Adam talked with God in the cool of the day. Enoch walked with God, communed with him, and one day walked right into Heaven. Jesus lived in continual communion with the Father and prayed for you to have the same relationship (John 17:20-22). Can you imagine Jesus praying a prayer that will not be answered?

Before He left the earth, Jesus said He would send the Holy Spirit who would comfort you, who would teach you, who would tell you things to come, and who would take from the Father and from the Son and give it to you. The Lord speaks through three expressions of His Word.

One, through the Graphe' (a Greek word meaning to grave especially to write - the holy writ,) the Holy Bible (Matthew 4:7), two, through the Logos (a Greek word meaning the spoken, expressed Word) who is Jesus, the living Word (John 1:1-3,14), and three, through the Rhema (Greek word meaning an utterance – in the moment) the present tense voice of God (Matthew 4:4). Everyone on earth hears God's voice, but His sheep hear and heed. What kind of a Father would God be, if He didn't want to talk to His kids?

Two Signs: Bob Jones and Arthur Burt

For some time now, I've heard the prophetic ministry declaring that an end-time awakening is breaking forth in the earth, and this last great revival will bring over one billion youth into the Kingdom of God. The Body of Christ in this awakening will reveal the glory of God through preaching, prophesying, demonstrating authentic signs, amazing wonders, marvelous healings, and creative miracles like the multiplying of food to feed the thousands, translation in the Spirit from one country to another, and physical body parts coming down from the warehouses in Heaven. (Photo Wikipedia)

At the center of this enormous move is a nucleus of men and women who live for the revelation of the Father. This is the word I have heard. An old sage (Great Grandfather) and prophet (Grandfather) in the faith both spoke words, and their life and death are a sign. The time is now.

Is there a sign escorting the message?

Two signs have escorted God's message. The first sign is Bob Jones, who prophesied the coming of the last great awakening that would sweep over one billion youth into the Kingdom. In 1975, when he stood before the Lord in death, the Lord held up his hand and said he had arrived before his time. God asked him to return. When Bob agreed, the Lord said, I don't want you to go back for one soul. I am going to bring over one billion youth to Myself. I want you to go back to speak into the leadership of that move. When he died on February 14, 2014, it was a sign that his job was done. Prophets are always reading signs. God is working His plan.

The second sign is Arthur Burt, a great grandfather in the family of God, who entered Heaven August 28, 2014. He was born in 1912 and in his youth traveled with Smith Wigglesworth, a plumber turned Evangelist who walked with God, manifested amazing signs, wonders, healing miracles, and power demonstrations that reaped an enormous harvest of souls into the Kingdom. Although Arthur did not like talking about his days with Wigglesworth, at breakfast one morning he said to me, "When it comes to Smith, all that the books have written about him pale in comparison to the glory that was released in his meetings."

Although Bob and Arthur are with the King of kings, the story of how they are signs demands our attention.

In 1999 the Lord said to me, "I want you to cultivate a family relationship with Bob and Viola."I didn't know how to do this, so I talked with a friend, whom Bob called his Jewish chauffeur at the time, and he arranged for a weekly visit on Wednesdays. For about a five-year season, I began visiting Bob and Viola in their home. During each visit we would sit and talk, sharing life and family stories, but at some point I would ask a question, "What were your visions about today?"

Usually each vision would be accompanied with stories from his life and revelation from the Word. We listened. (Photo of Bob Jones and Steve Scroggs)

One day Bob told this story: "In my visions the angel of the Lord visited me and said, 'In the year you were born, I gave a word to a group of people and now there is one man remaining. I want you to encourage him today. Tell him he will see this word come to pass before he dies. He is old and this word is not yet fulfilled. Tell him he will see it.'"

And then Bob turned to me and said about the angel who told him this, "And then he left, and he didn't tell me the man's name or what the word was that he gave him." (The angel was referring to Arthur Burt.)

ElijahList Prophetic Resources

That same evening Kathie Walters, who had just returned from ministering in Wales, called Bob and asked if he had a word for Wales. Bob said, "No, but I have a word for an old man in Wales, and you were just in his house." She said, "That must be Arthur Burt... What is the word?"

Bob replied, "Tell him, he will see it." Kathie responded, "He will see it?" Bob said, "Tell him he will see it. I don't know the word God gave him. He received it years ago. It was given to a group of people and they are all dead now except for him. But tell him he will see it."

When God speaks there will be signs in the heavens, and signs in the earth with some living among us.

A few months after Bob told me this story, I read Kathie Walter's account of her conversation with Arthur. When Arthur picked up the phone she said: "Arthur, this is Kathie Walters. Did you receive a word from God years ago among a group of people and you are waiting to see it?"

Arthur said, "Yes, we did receive a word."

She responded "Good, what was the word?"

Arthur replied, "They are all dead now, the people in that group. I am the only one left."

"Yes, I know Arthur; what was the word?"

Arthur responded, "I can hear it now like it was then. I keep it in my pocket you know."

"Arthur, what was the word?" I practically yelled at him then.

This was the word he read to me over the phone:

"IT SHALL COME AS A BREATH,
AND THE BREATH SHALL BRING THE WIND,
AND THE WIND SHALL BRING THE RAIN,
AND THERE SHALL BE FLOODS AND FLOODS AND FLOODS,
AND TORRENTS AND TORRENTS AND TORRENTS.
SOULS SHALL BE SAVED LIKE FALLING LEAVES FROM MIGHTY OAKS SWEPT BY A HURRICANE.
ARMS AND LEGS WILL COME DOWN FROM HEAVEN…
AND THERE SHALL BE NO EBB." (Photo Arthur Burt via Steve Scroggs)

The Breath is Blowing... What Is Your Action?

How is Arthur Burt a sign that escorted the word?

First, God spoke to a group of people and he was the last one carrying that word. Second, when the prophet Bob Jones through the Holy Spirit said, "He would see it" before he died, it made him a sign. Like Simeon, he was given a word from the Holy Spirit that he would see this awakening.

Therefore, the breath is blowing. The winds are here. The rain is falling. The floods are swelling. The torrents are on their way. If you are waiting for a sign to tell you what God is doing, join Him now because the revival is here.

The final question, what is your choice for action?

The first choice is to acknowledge the sign and receive the word with faith. The second choice is to pray and ask, "Lord, what do You want me to do?" You will speak hope as you open your mouth. God will fill it. The third choice is step out, bring forth the destiny you are called to, and fulfill the dreams you have had as secrets in your heart. The fourth choice may be to look where God is moving and join Him.

"Signs, signs, everywhere there are signs. Can you see the signs?" Will you mix the word with faith and act? God has now stepped onto the world scene in the form of His sons and daughters, and is releasing an unforgettable display of His love, glory and power.

A revivalist from the early 20th century, John G. Lake, gave this prophecy before he died:

"Now beloved, I can see as my spirit discerns the future and reaches out to touch the heart of mankind and the desire of God that there is coming from Heaven a new manifestation of the Holy Ghost in power and that new manifestation will be in sweetness, in love, in tenderness, in the power of the Spirit, beyond anything your heart or mine ever saw. The very lightning of God will flash through men's souls. The sons of God will meet the sons of darkness and prevail. Jesus Christ will destroy antichrist." (This was spoken by John G. Lake in a sermon on February 23, 1921)

The events of the earth are lining up. Future events are walking off of the pages of Scripture and into the life and times of planet earth, and the Sons and Daughters of God are being revealed. Through the Scriptures, the awakenings and the judgments of God have appeared on parallel tracks. There is something about the displays of God's power and majesty that humbles the heart of man and makes him ready to receive eternal life. (Photo via pixabay)

This harvest will bring in a harvest of souls so great and so numerous that they will appear as falling leaves from the mighty oaks driven in a hurricane.

The sons and daughters of God will walk in the faith that will create arms, legs and a multitude of body parts.

What would be the response from one who receives a call from a last day ministry that sounds like, "Hello, this is John Doe down at the church. Are you Sam Smith? Do you need a leg? We have one down here with your name on it, come and get it."

It has begun. You can be a part of this awakening, just let your heart reach out and touch your friends and relatives. Begin with the people you know and expand from there.

Pursue Me - Now Think On This by Steve Martin

Pursue Me
- Now Think On This
by Steve Martin

“But you, as a man of God, flee from these things; and pursue righteousness, godliness, faithfulness, love, steadfastness, gentleness. Fight the good fight of the faith, take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you testified so well to your faith before many witnesses. I charge you before God, who gives life to all things, and before the Messiah Yeshua, who in his witness to Pontius Pilate gave the same good testimony, to obey your commission spotlessly and irreproachably until our Lord Yeshua the Messiah appears.” 1 Timothy 6:11-14  (Complete Jewish Bible CJB)

I woke up hearing His words, “Pursue Me.”

Laurie and I had been in Denver, Colorado for three days, spending time with our new good friends Morris and Carol Ruddick. (See note below.) We were pursing the next step in our journey with the Lord, and for several months had looked forward to this connection the Lord had begun to establish with them.

Knowing that our hearts are hard after His, Laurie and I were seeking to know more fully His will - that of the One Who knows fully His will for us. Having walked as best we knew how, thus far in our lives together these past 37 years, we have been made ready for the next step on the journey. Our hearts and lives have been prepared, with a strong foundation having been built, to allow Him to position ourselves for His ongoing eternal plans and purposes. And thus the first trip to Denver.

In seeking the Lord along the upward climb on the mountain path, we have seen Him direct our steps along the way. Having made geographical moves from Iowa, to Illinois, to Michigan, to southern Florida, and now having spent these past 20 years in Charlotte, NC, we have seen His faithfulness throughout those years. He has brought us to the point where we are believing Him to take us on to the next assignment.

His heart for the nations has been more solidified in ours for His people in the nations. To bring His Good News, beginning with salvation through His only Son Jesus Christ, Yeshua HaMashiach, has become our desire. Blessing the families in the nations with His love, as He has blessed ours, is the calling we have received and accepted.

Hearing His voice along the way has been vital. Seeing the signs He gives us is always encouraging. Knowing His hand is upon us has kept us in pursuit of Him.

None of us knows the days that lie ahead. But knowing the God of Israel, the Almighty Creator personally as Father, is all we need. We have been known by Him, and through His grace we have come to know Him and His ways.

My encouragement for you today is to pursue Him. Call upon the Name of the Lord and you will be heard. His response to you, from His heart of compassion and courage, will lead you in the way you are to go; take you through the mine field of the enemy of our souls, and bring you to the mountain top view from His eternal window. From that vantage point you will see the bigger world picture as He sees it.

“Pursue Me” is what we are hearing. Today we will do so. I hope you do too.

Now think on this,

Prophetic Stories - Signs Along The Way by Steve Martin

Paperback: $5.49

We are living in the last days, the times prophesied long ago, right before the Lord Jesus Christ, Yeshua HaMashiach, returns. Even as He spoke to the prophets of old in Israel, continuing through Jesus’ time on earth, and with the early church, the Lord is fulfilling His promise. His Eternal Word that He would pour out His Spirit on all flesh, and we would prophesy.

Prophesy comes in many ways – through the spoken word, signs, dreams, visions, tongues. All are used by the Lord to speak to His people, give them guidance along the way, and show His provision for the plans He has for us. As we walk along His path chosen for us, He desires to encourage and reveal His plans to us. He most certainly uses His Written Word. He also uses prophetic words. Here are a few that He has given to me. I am continually amazed at how He speaks, how He directs, and the assuring results of His guidance. We need the gifts of the Holy Spirit operating in these times.

As the Bible says, He desires that all would prophesy, in order to assist believers in knowing His will, and speaking to non-believers that we serve an All-Knowing God, Who shows us the way. The gifts of prophesy, seeing signs and wonders, and experiencing His love through His fascinating methods is for all. I hope you are encouraged in seeking Him as you read these stores of how He moved in my life.

Mountains of the Lord - A Sign To Us

I saw this license plate below (or "tag" as they call it here in the South) on my way home Friday night, April 11, 2014 after attending the opening game of the Charlotte Knights in their new baseball park in uptown Charlotte. It was around 8:30 pm. Not too many times do you see a Colorado car license plate in Pineville, NC where I live. Signs along the way Lord.

SPIRITUAL VISION - Morris E. Ruddick

SIGN

SPIRITUAL VISION

(c) Morris E. Ruddick

Note: This is not just a change of seasons, but a change of generations. Isaiah 26:8 of the NASU captures an unusual glimpse into what is underway today: "While following the way of your judgments, we have eagerly waited for You."

Yet, in the face of growing turbulence, many have been prophesying revival--and I am convinced that the key elements for strong revival are in place. My generation "in the Lord" had its foundations in the early 70s, in a most incredible time of revival. For those I knew as a part of it, that revival was birthed out of an insatiable spiritual hunger, a catalyst to God's power, that resulted in nothing having greater priority than in knowing Him, truly knowing Him and discovering and applying the realities of His Spirit and Truth to our lives.

"Reaching" for the Lord and spiritual vision, seeing beyond the veil, was key. This sequence in Isaiah 26 continues by aptly capturing the heart of this reality: "My soul longs for You. Indeed, my spirit seeks you diligently."

Culturally, it was a time in which the mix of growing prosperity, idealism and dissatisfaction with the status quo collided. The revival that drew us to faith, seemed to bypass the idealism of the counter-culture movement of the 60s; resulting in a broad cross-section being swept into the reality of God. Simultaneously, others tried to modify it. There were abuses. Some capitalized on it. Some tried to quench it.

This post, a sequel to "The Mantle of Fire" and another "upgrade," taps the dynamics of another change in generations, not unlike the one upon us. The prophetic then (I Kings 13) as it should now, played a major part. Yet, the maturity in leadership fell short, not unlike the combination of those who abused and those who quenched the revival of late 60s and 70s. May today's emerging leaders have the anointed wisdom to walk a path that truly opens the gates.

Morris

"When King Jeroboam heard the man of God, he stretched out his hand, saying, 'Seize him!' Then his hand withered and the altar was split apart. Then the king cried, 'Please entreat the Lord's favor and pray for me, that my hand may be restored.' So the man of God prayed for him and his hand was restored.

Then the king said, 'Come home with me and I will give you a reward.' But the man of God said to the king, the Lord commanded me not eat bread, nor drink water, nor return by the same way. So he left by another route from the way he came to Bethel. On the way, an old prophet came to him and said, 'Come home with me and eat bread, for I too am a prophet and an angel spoke to me to bring you back to my house.'

So, as they sat at the table, the word of the LORD came to the old prophet and he cried out, saying, 'Thus says the LORD: Because you have disobeyed the word of the LORD, ate bread, and drank water, your corpse shall not come to the tomb of your fathers.'" 1 Kings 13:4-22

This unique story describes a time of revolt, a time of chaos against the House of David. It takes place, with a shift in generations, in the generation following Solomon.

Solomon's son Rehoboam had ascended to the throne. When he did, across the land the various factions David had brought together sought affirmation after suffering hardship and change during Solomon's reign. Jeroboam had been overseer of the labor force from the house of Joseph. Amidst dissatisfaction verging on an uprising, Jeroboam had fled for his life from Solomon to Egypt.

Change and the Prophetic

On the way, he encountered Ahijah and was given a prophecy that he would be king over the ten tribes of Israel. Yet, upon learning of Solomon's death, Jeroboam wasn't seeking position for himself. Instead he came with an assembly of leaders to appeal to Rehoboam for more equitable conditions. Against the advice of his father's advisors, King Rehoboam took a hard stand against their offer.

With that response, the smoldering division in Israel finally manifested. Then, in keeping with Ahijah's word, a "congregation of the people" made Jeroboam king. This caused Rehoboam to muster an army against the rebellion.

However, when Shemaiah the prophet brought a word from the Lord not to do so, Judah laid down their arms and stood down. Yet, despite the incredible affirmation from two high-ranking prophets and this reprieve; 1 Kings 12:26 reveals a lack of trust and fear in the heart of Jeroboam. He built false altars so that his people would not have to go to Jerusalem to worship. His fears clouded the spiritual vision needed for his mantle of leadership.

The people also heeded to Jeroboam's substitution for the Feast of Tabernacles. Instead of walking into his destiny by upholding or raising the standard, Jeroboam gave into his fears and lowered it. At that juncture, another prophet from Judah came to King Jeroboam and cried out against the altars and prophesied that the altar would be split (1 Kings 13:3). Dramatically, it was.

The Setting's Dynamics

This setting describes a time in which the government of God fell short. Intervening action had taken place by the hand of the Lord through a series of prophets. The story punctuates the critical need for maturity and a big-picture perspective for those assuming the mantles of both the prophetic and of leading God's people. It also underscores the significance of the prophetic word and the boundaries of responsibility tied to those administering it. It points to the need within leaders for spiritual vision that supercedes "self;" and the perils resulting from spiritual myopia.

Ripples of Spiritual Short-Sightedness

Solomon's digression into spiritual short-sightedness was a prime catalyst for the discontent brewing during his reign. It was the tripping point over which Solomon went from being the man who God anointed with the wisdom to rule and judge His people; to being undermined by the seductive, blinding influence brought into Israel by his hoard of idolatrous wives.

In short, both Kingdom leadership and the prophetic bear an awesome requirement of accuracy within big-picture settings that has no place for half-cocked presumption or short-sightedness.

The young prophet sent to Jeroboam delivered his prophecy with great power, but lacked the wisdom and maturity to impart the big-picture restoration God intended in this encounter; and he paid with his life.

Serious Times

We've entered serious times. One of the major challenges for spiritual leaders today is talented people operating on their own abilities, with a bit of wisdom and anointing thrown in. It's the cart before the horse. Without proper spiritual maintenance and ongoing spiritual vision; the momentum of past exploits will grind to a halt.

In today's spiritual environment, it requires more. On matters concerning the Kingdom: it's not what you can do for God; it's what you allow Him to do through you. (2 Cor 12:9; Heb 11:34)

Recent prophetic words describe a diabolical unleashing of blinding confusion that internally infiltrates and manifests as division. This division undermines the authority tied to administering the PURE prophetic word needed for societal transformation.

This high-level demonic activity targets the fertile turf fueled by arrogance and spiritual self-satisfaction among Christian leaders. Its subtle snare is releasing a mix of the destructive intent of the "accuser" (Rev 12:10) and judgment into the household of faith.

The initial impact of these stratagems is a spiritual myopia such as was evidenced in the lives of Solomon, Rehoboam, Jeroboam and the young prophet in the opening scripture. When allowed to mushroom, as it was then and is today, the result is ugly with manifestations of organizational and community-level division.

More of the same harder will not work. Along with maturity and a big-picture outlook, the cloak of humility represents the most strategic counter-response for those with mantles of the prophetic and leadership of God's people bearing on societal transformation. Moses, whose impact with the prophetic and transformation extends to this day, was known as the most humble man on the earth (Num 12:3).

"He must increase, but I must decrease." John 3:30

Variations of Spiritual Myopia

When spiritual maturity for the task falls short, spiritual short-sightedness can gain entrance in seemingly innocent ways.

Broad Catchall Applications of "the Kingdom." The Kingdom is not a synonym for church or ministry activities. It is God's authority to employ righteous power in corrupt settings. It is the power of God that releases societal transformation. Its principles, as taught by Jesus, are paradoxes to the way the world employs power.

What Has Begun in the Spirit Being Worked Out in the Flesh. A subtle seduction comes when results deemed "successful" evoke self-satisfaction. The distinction is a fine line between operating in the Spirit and yielding to the flesh.

Add-ons to the Prophetic. It takes maturity and seasoning to recognize the boundaries between a word received and simple embellishments due to the attempt to give "clarity." Its why in most cases the one receiving a prophetic word should not attempt its interpretation.

Jumping to Conclusions with the Prophetic. The other side of the add-on temptation is getting a pure word, but then jumping to conclusions or trying to fit it into a limited understanding or mind-set with a teaching or explanation that may undermine its original potency or intention.

Limitations of Cultural/Doctrinal Mind-Sets. Within the word of God are the principles needed for life and godliness. Then the Bible has countless real-life examples that demonstrate the models, mandates and wisdom needed for the application of these principles. These principles and models give us a universal wisdom that transcends generations and non-Biblical cultures and mind-sets.

A Void in the Prophetic. Historically, one of the hardest requirements for God's people has been in waiting on Him. Sometimes the most spiritual thing that can be done in a storm is to take a nap (Matt 8:24). Prophetic words, as in the case of Joseph's dreams, often need to mature and await set times. Impulsiveness, embellishing a genuine word and an array of other digressions that short-circuit a maturing word are the causes of more misfires than is prudent to recount.

The Temptations: Provision, Power and Purpose

Navigating accurately with the spiritual begins by recognizing the primary temptations that divert it from its full impact.

Preceding the time Jesus imparted the keys of the Kingdom to a select group of followers, He encountered three temptations. Surmounting each of these areas is essential corporately, for the prophetic and for leaders, in order to avoid short-sighted tendencies in the employment of righteous power in corrupt settings.

These dimensions address the foundation needed to bring change: provision, power and purpose.

When the evil one challenged Jesus with "command that these stones be made bread," the issue involved authority over provision. When the challenge was "throw yourself down for He has given His angels charge over you," it was the foundation of power. Finally, when shown all the glory of the Kingdoms of this world and being offered "all these things I will give to you," the matter addressed the purpose.

These are the dynamics operating with big-picture, corporate-level spiritual matters. They were in evidence in the evolving process leading to Joseph's and Daniel's roles in harnessing Egypt and Babylon for God's purposes. Provision, power and purpose are at the heart of the issues of societal transformation. Each represent pivot points for apostolic, community and prophetic leaders needed to gain full authority when operating as society-changers; as the ones bearing the mantles of modern-day Josephs and Daniels.

The Maturity Factor

Provision, power and purpose are also key factors bearing on community-level maturity. They are the dimensions with the leverage for change, for good or for bad. They can be the seedbeds for short-sightedness or the foundations for the spiritual vision needed for transformation.

In the opening scripture, it wasn't because the young prophet was beguiled by the old prophet that he was gobbled by a lion. His myopia was an obsession with his return; of confusing the sign of his failure, as being his path to safety. In other words, he was gripped with fear; and what he feared came upon him.

Although scripture doesn't elaborate, the context and this short-sighted misfire are strong indications that he didn't get the original word quite right in the first place. At the point, when the King was open to his correction, his spiritual myopia blinded him. It bore on the "purpose" factor for which his maturity for the task was lacking, AND he was judged within the framework of his myopia.

Reaching for Spiritual Clarity

The attack against the Body today targets maturity bearing on the prophetic and leadership for transformation. Again, the subtlety of the challenge facing the Body is talented people going on their own abilities with an element of the anointing spliced in. The demarcation into maturity will pivot on humility and be Spirit-driven.

Spiritual maturity is not our limited perception of being right or doing right. It is when those matters, we refer to as ego, issues and self, have no root from which to manifest and true spiritual vision can manifest. It is the discernment that knows the difference in the close calls between His will and what may be blind-spots or matters kindled by the soul.

Spiritual maturity on a community-level basis is when there is an alignment of the provision, power and purpose among those deemed as leaders.

Spiritual maturity and spiritual vision enable God's Light to shine and disperse the blindness and confusion. It releases the Kingdom power that paradoxically transcends the division and reverses it into opportunity. It is when there is no vestige of variation between His will and our own. Spiritual maturity with spiritual vision is a complete oneness with the Lord.

"Unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it produces much grain. He who loves his life will lose it, and he who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life." John 12:24-25

"I did not come to bring peace but a sword. For I have come to set a man against his father, a daughter against her mother and a man's enemies will be those of his own household. He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me; and he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me; and he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me. He who finds his life will lose it, and he who loses his life for My sake will find it." Matt 10:34-39

PROPHETIC STEWARDSHIP - (c) Morris E. Ruddick

Morris Ruddick

SIGN

PROPHETIC STEWARDSHIP

(c) Morris E. Ruddick

"Then the king said, 'Bring me a sword. Divide the living child
in two, and give half to one, and half to the other.' Then the
woman whose son was living spoke to the king, for she yearned
with compassion for her son; and she said, 'O my lord, give her
the living child, and by no means kill him!' But the other said,
'Let him be neither mine nor yours, but divide him.'"
1 Kings 3:24-26

Solomon's wisdom in discerning the true mother is also a key to
discerning true leaders. True leaders have the compassion that
is willing to face personal sacrifice. It's the mark of stewardship.
The perspective of the wannabees and unseasoned will tend
toward being inwardly focused and driven by personal,
wrong reasons.

True biblical stewardship is just the opposite. Prophetic
stewardship bears an even higher standard. Kingdom
leadership pivots on stewardship that seeks the community
good. That may require a decisiveness that is neither
popular nor comfortable. It demands a basis that
understands the true heart of God and the long-term
prophetic implications.

Joseph's service to Pharaoh began with a time of preparation.
Scripture indicates that these years of preparation were
a fruitful time, a time of abundance. Yet, what was
required to gather and store the grain demanded discipline.
It no doubt involved some belt-tightening for everyone.
The tough standards and decisions required were not for
the feint of heart or those with the need to be accepted.

Yet, when the years of abundance were over and famine
came, then both the decisions and the discipline became
even harder. Joseph's stewardship involved a balance
between maintaining order, adjusting to the widespread
famine, while establishing Egypt as solution-provider.
It required a level of administration that not only
was gifted, but drew from God's wisdom for the decisions
being made.

Egypt, under Joseph, became the safe-place, the place of God's
order when everything else was falling into disorder. That took
tough-minded decision-making to set up and no doubt even tougher
decisions to maintain and administrate. Genesis 45 reveals that as
the famine proceeded, that the money failed. Prophetically God had
shown Joseph the need to gather and store the grain. Because the
staple with value was grain, Joseph was in the driver's seat. Clearly
Joseph heard from God.

With the abundance of grain, Joseph cornered the livestock market.
The people of Egypt remained fed, as Egypt's influence with those
around them increased as a prepared-provider and a refuge during
the turbulence. As things deteriorated, the people sold their land to
Joseph for the food needed to feed their families. The famine was
severe. No doubt the value of land had also dropped. Yet, Joseph
the good steward, the prophetic steward, brought the people into
the cities to live.

"When the money failed, Joseph bought the livestock;
then the land; then brought the people into the cities."
Gen 47:15-25

The suggestion is that there was safety and community order,
again a refuge, within the boundaries of the cities. Joseph maintained
the order needed during a severely difficult time, kept the people fed
and kept them safe. Following the famine, Joseph restored the people
to their lands requiring only a fifth on their produce in return.

The Prophetic Dimension
Operating in the prophetic means there are often times when we
"see" or perceive things that we want to act on. However, the
prophetic calling requires a lot more by way of self-control than
the ordinary. It's too important. The mature prophetic response
is from those who rule their own spirits.

The prophetic is first hearing from God. However, when we hear
from God another key required layer is the issue of alignment and
seeing things from the stance of what God is doing. It's becoming
a participator in His destiny-shaping purposes and agendas. It's
entering a dimension of God's big-picture beyond ourselves.

Yet, we can sometimes get the big-picture without seeing how God
is getting us there. So, operating in the prophetic requires a continual
checking-in with Him for the "interims." That's because none of us are
at the place to where we nail it at each step, despite our best and
most valiant efforts to do so.

One of the hardest things to learn is to NOT force issues.
The flip side of that is holding steady when you don't yet
see the change in the natural. Yet, faith and faithfulness
are determined by those who grasp what is underway
in the unseen world.

When we are in a place where there is something that
God is doing that we haven't fully or even partially
discerned, it represents a place of vulnerability.
Well intentioned people unwittingly walk into cross-fires
of judgment by yielding to the soulish in these interims.

Judgment can also be triggered because of ones who,
being convinced of their "rightness" regarding something,
don't have the big-picture quite right. They lack a full
discernment of what God is doing or their place in it.
What results is creating a short-circuiting or backlash by
which they and others are hurt. Prophetic stewardship
requires keeping one's spiritual antennas high and at
the times one is provoked over something, to back
off until they hear specifically what the Lord has to
say about it.

Cost of the Mantle
The dreams Joseph received from God as a young man
came at a high cost. They cost Joseph everything that
had been dear to him, including his freedom. Yet, Joseph r
ose to the standard that God had set for him. THAT took
decisions that refused to give in to the soulish. It took serious
discipline, humility and maturity.

Not only did Joseph demonstrate a right spirit; but as a
good steward, he took it a step further in assuming
the mantle of his great-grandfather Abraham: to be
blessed to be a blessing. Long before his promotion to sit
alongside of Pharaoh, with nothing to go on in terms of
position, Joseph distinguished himself with Potiphar and
then the jailer with both his influence and the stewardship
of the mantle he bore.

The result came from a right spirit that stewarded the
blessings of God in such a way that everyone around
Joseph saw that God was real, through the demonstration
of that reality through Joseph. Yet, it came at a cost;
a very high cost. In the face of losing everything; in the face
of slavery; in the face of unrighteous spiritual backlash; Joseph
maintained his faithfulness as God's servant-steward.

Gravity of the Mantle
Leaders, who truly understand the times and know
what to do, demonstrate a maturity that is above the
soulish. They don't quibble or second guess when tough
decisions are required. They guard their own hearts
diligently and do not give in to soulish machinations.
Yielding to the soulish is what opens the door
for the demonic.

The contrast is demonstrated in Isaiah 22 with the
story of two leaders, one whose decisions were
short-sighted and driven by personal, soulish
matters and another whose stewardship embraced
the long-term opportunity resident in the heart of God.

"Go to Shebna, who is over the house, and say:
Indeed, the LORD will throw you away violently;
there you shall die. Then it shall be in that day,
that I will call My servant Eliakim; I will clothe
him with your robe and strengthen him with
your belt; I will commit your responsibility
into his hand. He shall be a father to the
inhabitants of Jerusalem and to the house of
Judah. The key of the house of David I will lay
on his shoulder; so he shall open, and no one
shall shut; and he shall shut, and no one shall open.
I will fasten him as a peg in a secure place, and
he will become a glorious throne to
his father's house." Isaiah 22:15-23

Authority of the Prophetic
The authority of God for change is released through
the prophetic. The story of Joseph reflects a progression
of episodes in his life tied to how he heard and obeyed
the voice of the Lord. This simple foundation in many
untenable situations became the catalyst for a owner
and an authority that was recognized as being from God
by a whole range of non-believers, including those in
authority.

That prophetic authority was the means by which God
used Joseph to shift the spiritual climate within Egypt's
power infrastructure. It set the stage for the prophetic
alignment needed for Joseph's apostolic gifts to harness,
redirect and then steward the resources of Egypt to
accomplish God's purposes for the future of His people.

Discernment and Prophetic Alignment
Joseph's tenure in Egypt is laced with examples of
Joseph's significant prophetic gifts. Prophetic stewardship
will unmask the intentions of the hearts of those who
serve a role, whether for good or for evil, in the initiatives
being stewarded.

The story of the baker and the wine-taster exemplifies how,
during Joseph's weakest hour in the natural, that God
used him prophetically to judge and establish the removal
of one key man from Pharaoh's court; and to restore and
set up another, who became instrumental at the right
time in aligning things for Joseph's promotion.

Similarly, Joseph's scrutiny of his brothers was not retribution,
but the need to see the repentance that was needed for
Joseph to establish parameters with those who once
betrayed him. By the time his brothers came back on the
scene, Joseph was in the full flow of his very considerable
calling. He did not need the old issues and patterns of behavior
demonstrated by his betrayers to manifest and disrupt in any
way his role as God's servant-steward.

Still, the discernment of Joseph was not an end in itself,
but the means of aligning things first spiritually and then
in the natural, for God's purposes. Stewarding the will of
God begins with resetting the spiritual climate. When the
spiritual climate is properly aligned, it allows God's order
to be established. Only then, will the stable flow come
needed to counteract the forces of judgment and the
tentacles of evil.

The Prophetic Steward
The prophetic steward is the one who maps out, builds
up and brings increase in the face of the enemy's schemes
to divide, confuse and destroy.

I have previously noted an organization I was a part of
many years ago. The standard for entry was high.
The standard to be maintained was even higher.
Members of this organization became known by the axiom
of "when the going gets tough, the tough get going."
It is unfortunate within the Body that many confuse
soft standards of the world with the level in which,
we as a Body are expected to operate. Our standard, like
that of Joseph's is higher. It's much, much higher.

I have had the joy of working with two men of God who
operate with this higher standard. They each are very
different in their leadership styles, yet very similar in anointing.
Each reaches hard for God's heart and God's will on the
issues before them. Both are unusual in their roles as
prophetic stewards.

One is incredibly gifted in discerning the gifts and will of
God operating in people, with the ability to draw forth
and put those gifts into operation. The other is a very
high-level administrator, whose ability to discern the
big-picture and then mobilize leaders to address it, is
timely and strategic. One is a model for the Body locally;
the other globally.

Both are incredible peacemakers, a very high standard i
the progressive maturity unveiled by Jesus' Sermon on the Mount.
They each have a gift for tapping and aligning things spiritually
to establish God's order and to release the supernatural for change.
We need more of that standard.

We've entered a time that Jesus spoke of as when even the
very elect would be deceived. It is a time when the
convergence of good and evil will trigger both judgment
and change. Prophetic stewardship sees the alignments
and change in the spirit from God's perspective. It then
navigates and anticipates the responses needed to shape
and release God's purposes.

The Lord Jesus also told us that many are called, but
few are chosen. The criterion for leadership, established by
Solomon's wisdom, begins with sacrifice and compassion.

It is evidenced by those who not only face, but traverse and
emerge whole from the fires. It pivots on an unpolluted
prophetic stewardship that pays the cost to unswervingly
maintain the steps needed to change the spiritual climate
and to establish God's order.

"Let your light so shine before men, that they may
see your good works and glorify your Father in Heaven."
Matthew 5:16
