The Mainstream Media Is Talking About A Coming Middle East War That Could Involve Saudi Arabia, Iran, The U.S. And Israel - Michael Snyder THE ECONOMIC COLLAPSE BLOG

Posted: 07 Nov 2017  Michael Snyder  THE ECONOMIC COLLAPSE BLOG

People better start waking up and paying attention to what is happening in the Middle East, because the situation is becoming quite serious.  If things go badly, we could be facing a major regional war which would involve not only Saudi Arabia and Iran, but also potentially the United States and Israel.

Yesterday, I quoted an article in the New York Times that warned that tensions between the Saudis and the Iranians were raising “the threat of a direct military clash between the two regional heavyweights”.  And now Jake Novak of CNBC is saying that a “direct conflict between Saudi Arabia and Iran, as opposed to the proxy war they’re fighting in Yemen, looks inevitable.”

I put those last two words in bold so that there wouldn’t be any confusion.  In fact, Novak is warning that the Saudis “are marching ever closer towards a wider regional war”.  Novak understands the dynamics of the Middle East, and he realizes where things could be headed if cooler heads do not prevail.

Saudi Arabia and Iran have already been fighting proxy wars against one another in Syria and Iran for quite a while, but a direct military conflict between the two could literally be a nightmare scenario.

One of the primary characters in this ongoing drama is Saudi Arabia’s extremely hawkish crown prince Mohammed bin Salman.  He hates Iran with a passion, and he has already said that he believes that a peace dialogue with Iran is impossible.

And over the past several days, events in Saudi Arabia and Lebanon have moved talk of war to the front burner
First, the kingdom squarely blamed Iran for a missile attack on Riyadh from Yemen that was thwarted by the U.S.-made Patriot anti-missile system. The Saudis called that attack “direct military aggression by the Iranian regime and may be considered an act of war.”
Second, the Saudis accused Lebanon of — figuratively at least — declaring “war” against it because of aggression from Hezbollah. That statement spurred even Saudi ally and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi to publicly urge for calm.
In an article yesterday, I discussed the “purge” that is currently taking place in Saudi Arabia.  Many believe that this purge is all about removing any potential obstacles to a war with Iran.  Mohammed bin Salman and his father have made dealing with Iran their number one strategic priority, and they have even enlisted the Israelis as allies in their cause…
As is already well-known, the Saudi and Israeli common cause against perceived Iranian influence and expansion in places like Syria, Lebanon and Iraq of late has led the historic bitter enemies down a pragmatic path of unspoken cooperation as both seem to have placed the break up of the so-called “Shia crescent” as their primary policy goal in the region. For Israel, Hezbollah has long been its greatest foe, which Israeli leaders see as an extension of Iran’s territorial presence right up against the Jewish state’s northern border.
If Saudi Arabia and Iran go to war, it is probably inevitable that Hezbollah will strike Israel at the same time, thus getting the Israelis directly involved in the conflict.
Not only that, if a major regional war does erupt in the Middle East it would almost certainly mean that the U.S. would have to get involved as well.  Here is more from Jake Novak of CNBC
But if full blown war breaks out directly between the two countries, it’s hard to see the U.S. being able to sit it out without at least some form increased weapons support and other aid. Then it will be up to Iran’s possible allies, like Russia and China to make the next move.
If you are thinking that this sounds like the type of scenario that could cause World War III to erupt, you would be correct.

The Iranians and the Saudis both have weapons of mass destruction, and so a direct conflict between the two would seem to be unthinkable.

But rational thinking does not always prevail in the Middle East.  The conflict between Sunni Islam and Shia Islam has a long and bitter history, and the bad blood between the Saudis and the Iranians is never going to subside until one side or the other ultimately prevails.

Let us hope that a “hot war” between Saudi Arabia and Iran does not erupt any time soon, because such a war would not be good for the United States whatsoever.  Pretty much every scenario that you can imagine ends with enormous numbers of innocent people dead, and such a conflict could ultimately be the spark that sets off World War III.

Is Saudi Arabia Heading For War With Iran? - Michael Snyder THE ECONOMIC COLLAPSE BLOG

Posted: 06 Nov 2017  Michael Snyder  THE ECONOMIC COLLAPSE BLOG

Is a major war in the Middle East looming on the horizon?  Most of us living in the western world simply do not realize how much Saudi Arabia and Iran truly hate one another.  Saudi Arabia is the global center for Sunni Islam, and Iran is the global center for Shia Islam, and the two major sects of Islam have a history of bad blood that literally goes back for over a thousand years.

The Saudis and the Iranians are already engaged in “proxy wars” in Syria and in Yemen, and now a missile that was fired at Riyadh’s international airport threatens to turn the conflict between the two regional powers into a hot war.

If you are tempted to think that I am exaggerating one bit, just consider what the New York Times is saying about this…
Saudi Arabia charged Monday that Iran had committed “a blatant act of military aggression” by providing its Yemeni allies with a missile fired at the Saudi capital over the weekend, raising the threat of a direct military clash between the two regional heavyweights.
The accusations represent a new peak in tensions between Saudi Arabia and Iran at a time when they are already fighting proxy wars in Yemen and Syria, as well as battles for political power in Iraq and Lebanon.
And Yahoo is reporting that the Saudis are saying that this missile attack “may amount to an act of war”…
On Monday, a Saudi-led military coalition battling Tehran-backed rebels in Yemen said it reserved the “right to respond” to the missile attack on Riyadh at the weekend, calling it a “blatant military aggression by the Iranian regime which may amount to an act of war”.
Saudi Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir also warned Tehran.
“Iranian interventions in the region are detrimental to the security of neighbouring countries and affect international peace and security. We will not allow any infringement on our national security,” Jubeir tweeted.
For those that have not grasped the implications of what I am saying yet, let me break this down very simply for you.

If Saudi Arabia and Iran go to war, the United States will be involved in that war on the side of the Saudis.

It would be a war unlike anything we have ever seen in the history of the Middle East, and it is almost a certainty that weapons of mass destruction would be used in such a war.

Essentially, what we are talking about is the potential for World War III to erupt in the Middle East.

And all of this comes at a time when the biggest “purge” in the modern history of Saudi Arabia is taking place
A campaign of mass arrests of Saudi Arabian royals, ministers and businessmen expanded on Monday after a top entrepreneur was reportedly detained in the biggest anti-corruption purge of the kingdom’s affluent elite in its modern history.
The reported arrest of Nasser bin Aqeel al-Tayyar followed the detention of dozens of top Saudis including billionaire investor Prince Alwaleed bin Talal in a crackdown that the attorney general described as “phase one”.
The purge is the latest in a series of dramatic steps by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to assert Saudi influence internationally and amass more power for himself at home.
Some would say that the Saudis are “cracking down on corruption”, while others would say that Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman is “consolidating power” prior to going to war.
In any event, this situation deserves our full attention, because it could ultimately result in a major regional war in which the United States is directly involved.

How The Lifesaving Miracles of Purim Continue Today By Rivkah Lambert Adler - BREAKING ISRAEL NEWS

How The Lifesaving Miracles of Purim Continue Today

“That the king had granted the Yehudim that were in every city to gather themselves together, and to stand for their life, to destroy, and to slay, and to cause to perish, all the forces of the people and province that would assault them, their little ones and women, and to take the spoil of them for a prey.” Esther 8:11 (The Israel Bible™)
As told in the Biblical Book of Esther, the lives of Jewish people in 127 provinces, from India to Ethiopia, were miraculously saved from the hands of Haman who vowed to exterminate the Jewish nation. Each year at this time, Jews around the world celebrate Purim to remember the miracle that allowed the Jews to defend themselves against their enemies.
The life-saving Purim miracle that the Jewish people experienced 2,400 years ago is echoed in today’s news. A review of recent news stories proves that God is still protecting and saving His people today.
Rescue of Jews from Yemen
Ongoing civil war in Muslim Yemen, one of the most violent countries in the Middle East, left the small Jewish community vulnerable. Through secret airlifts from Yemen to Israel, a few hundred members of the community have been rescued. This week, a group of nearly 20 Yemenite Jews, the last to be evacuated, landed in Israel, along with a Torah scroll that is believed to be at least 500 years old.
Collapse of Terror Tunnels in Gaza
Over the past several weeks, multiple tunnels built to attack and kill the Jews of Israel have collapsed under suspicious circumstances. Some say that a lone rabbi standing near the border between Gaza and Israel and praying for God’s help, is yielding substantial miracles.
One such tunnel collapsed in Khan Younis last week, injuring two and resulting in five missing Hamas terrorists. In a separate incident, a huge gas explosion in Gaza earlier this week led Egyptian officials to discover 50 other secret tunnels between Gaza and the Egyptian side of the Arab city of Rafiah.

Crises Averted and Terrorists Neutralized
Nearly every day, there are news reports of attempted stabbings and car rammings throughout Israel. Although, regrettably, there have been nearly three dozen fatalities and many more with serious injuries, there are also daily inspirational stories of escape. For instance, on March 11, an improvised explosive device (IED) planted by a masked terrorist exploded near the southern city of Otniel just as an Israeli woman drove by. The car was lightly damaged and the driver escaped without injury.
Even in cases where the terrorists injure or even murder Jews, the perpetrators rarely escape and are most often neutralized.
Jonathan Pollard Released at the Beginning of the Jubilee
After 30 years behind bars, Jonathan Pollard was finally released this past November, just as the Shmittah (Sabbatical) year ended. Pollard is a Jewish citizen of the United Stated who was convicted of spying for Israel. He was sentenced to life imprisonment. For decades, Jews and non-Jews alike all across the world prayed for his release. As his physical health deteriorated in prison, prayers for his release increased.
In these and similar stories, when we look at the news with Bible-based vision, we can see that, just as in the time of the Purim miracle, God is still involved in saving lives on a regular basis.
Arguably, the greatest modern Purim miracle of all is the simple fact that the Jewish people survive and Israel thrives, even in the midst of daily danger and threats to its existence.
Speaking to Breaking Israel News, popular author and lecturer Rabbi Shimon Apisdorf reminds emphasizes God’s hand in the everyday saying, “Iran wants to nuke us. Obama doesn’t mind assisting them. Europe wants to boycott us. There is a knife-car intifada raging in our streets, we are a fractured society, etc. etc etc. And yet, it turns out we are the 11th happiest country in the world, ahead of the US and every European country, ahead of China, India, Japan, and the entire Muslim world. Jewish-Israeli resilience is an absolute miracle!”

Ancient Hebrew Scroll Given to Regent Univ. a 'Magnificent Gift' - CBN News Charlene Aaron

Ancient Hebrew Scroll Given to Regent Univ. a 'Magnificent Gift'

CBN News Charlene Aaron

A special day of celebration surrounded the donation of an ancient Hebrew Torah scroll to Regent University.
The Torah, also known as the law, is the first five books of the Old Testament.
"This scroll was copied or written in 1750 before the establishment of the United States of America, before the constitution, and we will treasure this, it is a magnificient gift," said the school's chancellor Dr. Pat Robertson. "We thank you for your dedication; we thank you for your commitment."
Dr. Pat Robertson

The Torah scroll has survived some of the darkest periods of human history and it serves as a powerful testament to God's faithfulness and the enduring power of His Word.

"This particular scroll that was donated to the School of Divinity here at Regent University is a Yemenite scroll," explained Dr. Corne Bekker, dean of the School of Divinity.
"It's a scroll that's roughly about 265 years old and it comes to us from that area Yemen where of course the king of Sheba came from and it was a time period where Jews were severely persecuted that kind of run for their lives and they brought these Torah scrolls with them."

The condition of the scroll demonstrates the meticulous care and commitment to the biblical text. Members of the local Jewish community attended the dedication service, calling it a bridge between the Jewish and Christian communities.
"We have a common goal both to continue the Judeo-Christian teachings, but also to support Israel and how critical it is for the both of us," said Jay Klebanoff,president-elect of the United Jewish Federation of Tidewater (UJFT).
"Today really brought that together and gave it so much meaning that we could both share in appreciation of the Torah and now it's going to be at Regent - it's just fantastic."

Ken and Barbara Larson, who donated the scroll, have also gifted Torahs to several other institutions. They hope it will encourage students to develop a deeper appreciation for God's word.

"When you come to grips with how God brought this Torah here, our hope would be that the students would have that kind of appreciation for what He's done to keep His word accurate, relevant, so we can all learn and grow," said Ken.

"I think long after we're gone, long after you're gone, the Word of God will live forever and in a Torah that's several hundred years old (and) will still continue to live and speak and many students will be able to gain from it," Barbara added.

It's a goal echoed by Regent's administration.

"We've made the committment that the Word of God is the foundation for absolutely everything we do," said Bekker.
"It's at the center of our education. It's at the center of the formation of our students and to receive this ancient Torah scroll that students can look at and they can handle and in some instances even touch enforces, solidifies this committment that we've made to the Word of God."

Iran Gains Access to $100 Billion in Sanctions Relief

“Wherefore do I see them dismayed and turned backward? and their mighty ones are beaten down, and they are fled apace, and look not back; terror is on every side, saith the LORD.” (Jeremiah 36:5)
The Iranian government said on Monday that it has now gained access to more than $100 billion of frozen overseas assets as part of the sanctions relief promised under the nuclear deal signed last summer with world powers.
“These assets have fully been released and we can use them,” Iranian government spokesperson Mohammad-Baqer Nobakht said, Iran’s state-run Press TV reported.
According to Press TV, much of the money that had come from international sales of Iranian oil had been piling up in banks in China, India, Japan, South Korea and Turkey. Those countries have been holding the funds in escrow since sanctions were implemented in 2012.

Additionally, several Iranian banks were reconnected to the Belgian-based SWIFT financial transaction system that handles wire transfers between financial institutions.
Many Israeli officials, as well as Arab states like Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, fear that Iran may use these funds to pay its terror proxies such as Hezbollah or the Houthi rebels in Yemen, which could in turn destabilize the Middle East. Furthermore, officials and analysts fear that Iran could also use the money to develop its ballistic missile program.

Arabs Express Love for Israel on Facebook

Arabs Express Love for Israel on Facebook

JERUSALEM, Israel -- Israel is getting some support from an unlikely source: Arab young people in countries that are often hostile to Israel.
The Jerusalem Post reports an Arab Israeli IDF veteran set up a pro-Israel Facebook page to counter the anti-Israel sentiment that can be prevalent in some of these countries. He was surprised at the responses from countries such as Egypt, Jordan, Morocco, Syria, Iraq, Yemen and Saudi Arabia.
One Saudi woman wrote she'd like to "send a message of peace and love to Israel," saying Arabs should recognize that "Israel also has rights to the land of Palestine."
"Good evening. I am a young woman from Jeddah in Saudi Arabia," she says in the video. "I am a member of one of the better-known tribes of the Hijaz, and I am showing you Darajeh Square, a famous landmark in Jeddah. I'd like to send a message of peace and love to Israel and its dear citizens."
"I know it is surprising that a Saudi Arabian citizen sends a message to the people of Israel, but it is a basic principle of democracy that everyone is free to voice an opinion," she continued. "I hope the Arabs will be sensible like me and recognize the fact that Israel also has rights to the lands of Palestine."
And a user from Fallujah, Iraq, wrote, "I support the State of Israel and their army and nation, but in our country we are not allowed to express our opinions or we will get killed."
"I hope there will be peace between our nations, we love Israel, their people, and its army," he concluded.

Apocalyptic Betrayals

Apocalyptic Betrayals

Tuesday, March 31, 2015 |  Noah Beck  ISRAEL TODAY
President Obama’s far-reaching efforts to facilitate Iran’s march to nukes amount to nothing less than apocalyptic betrayals of U.S. voters and allies – betrayals that will make the world exponentially more dangerous.
Obama has ignored the countless reasons to doubt that the ayatollahs will make and keep a nuclear accord that prevents them from acquiring nuclear weapons. Here are just some of those reasons:
1) Iran’s president Hassan Rouhani boasted about his own role in exploiting diplomatic talks to advance Iran’s nuclear program
3) Iran recently tried – in a single transaction – to buy know-how for nukes and impunity for one of its biggest terrorist attacks.
5) thanks to Iranian involvement in the recent Houthi-rebel takeover of Yemen, Iran’s ever-expanding hegemony now reaches four Arab countries, and
The Saudis have warned that the current deal will spark a Mideast nuclear arms race. It could also hasten the era of nuclear terrorism. There are already reports that ISIS has resorted to attacks with chemical weapons (hardly surprising after Obama’s “red lines” on Syria’s chemical weapons use turned white). Iran could provide nuclear material – in addition to a nuclear umbrella – to its proxy terrorist group, Hezbollah. For these and other grave concerns, Netanyahu risked his political career on a speech before Congress that explained why the deal is so bad.
Yet rather than address legitimate reservations about the emerging Iranian nuclear deal, Obama prefers to hold Bibi to his Israeli election slogans about a Palestinian state as if Obama hadn’t himself broken countless campaign promises, including his own oft-repeated commitment (to voters and allies alike) that he would prevent Iran from going nuclear. Breaching his promise to everyone, Obama has embraced a process that makes Iran a threshold nuclear state.
Instead of questioning the intentions of the same theocratic regime that held 52 Americans hostage for 444 days, the Obama administration has whitewashed Iran’s terrorist activities/record, and accepted Rouhani as a "moderate" even though human rights in Iran have actually worsened under his rule
Despite Obama’s attempts to influence the outcome of Israel’s free elections, no Israeli government, regardless of the political parties that comprise it, can live with the existential threat posed by a nuclear Iran. And world powers are closer than ever to forcing an Israeli military response to that danger because they have buckled rather than created sufficient diplomatic and economic pressure to persuade Iran to dismantle its nuclear program.
Iran has made steady progress on its nukes despite decades of sanctions, UN Security Council resolutions, IAEA inspections, and negotiations. The most successful strategy for stopping Iran’s nuclear march was the very real threat of force in 2003. After the U.S. military quickly trounced Iraq, neighboring Iran was deterred from continuing its nuclear activities, until it concluded that the U.S. military threat had dissipated.
Under Obama, the weakest U.S. president since Jimmy Carter, there is no credible military threat, as his actions in Syria, Ukraine, and elsewhere have shown.
That reality will force Israel to take military action against Iran’s nukes – either in the absence of a nuclear deal or despite the bad one under consideration (which paves Iran’s path to the bomb with legitimacy while isolating Israel). Some think that Israel will refrain from attacking because a military strike would, at best, set back Iranian nukes by a few years. But that is a specious argument for two reasons:
1) Like “mowing the grass” with Hamas’ military buildups in Gaza, Israel may simply have to take military action every few years,
2) the Iranians may eventually stop trying to develop nukes, after realizing that it’s a huge waste of resources to build nuclear facilities that Israel will eventually destroy.
Despite all of the risks of attacking Iran’s nuclear program, doing nothing will be riskier to Israel’s survival because the world’s most dangerous regime then acquires the world’s most dangerous weapons.
The Jewish nation knows all too well the dangers of ignoring genocidal threats, and Iran, the world’s chief sponsor of terrorism, has repeatedly threatened to destroy Israel. By making Iran a nuclear threshold state, the proposed deal leaves the ayatollahs with the ability to carry out that threat and therefore compels an Israeli attack. However, because Israel’s capabilities are far more limited than those of the U.S. military, Israel won’t be able to prevent Iranian retribution when destroying Iran’s nukes.
What follows is a nuclear World War III. Iran will retaliate with an overwhelming barrage of potent, long-range ballistic missiles on Israel’s population centers, and will likely also target the Israeli nuclear reactor in Dimona (which action could itself produce massive casualties). Hezbollah, which has about 100,000 long-range missiles supplied by Iran, will add to the unstoppable downpour of missiles. For all of their impressive successes, Israeli missile defense systems simply cannot handle such a huge number of incoming missiles, and so there will be thousands of dead.
The world, as usual, will do nothing but excoriate Israel and call for restraint, leaving Israel with countless casualties. Adjusted for population differences, ten thousand dead in tiny Israel is like about 400,000 killed in the USA. At that point (if not much sooner), Israel will feel that it’s very survival requires nuking Tehran and a few other major cities, which would destroy the regime along with maybe a million people.
The Sunni countries threatened by Shiite Iran’s hegemonic aggression in the region may have already entered the fray at that point, or would do so soon after, and the centuries-old Sunni-Shia conflict would explode throughout the region even more than it already has. It’s not clear how the war eventually ends, but there will be even more chaos as failed states and radical extremism spread across the Middle East. The price of oil will skyrocket to unseen levels, and none of this will be good for U.S. interests.
Absurdly enough, the U.S. could probably prevent such a doomsday scenario by simply asserting an ultimatum backed by very credible military force. If Iran does not, within a week after the expiration of the current talks, allow inspectors unfettered access to all of its nuclear facilities and then cooperate in their destruction (with compensation and a set of economic and political rewards for that cooperation), then the U.S. military will, with overwhelming military force, destroy the entire Iranian military infrastructure (including its nuclear program) and work towards the downfall of the regime.
If the U.S. can make such a threat credibly, then Iran will acquiesce, no actual force will be needed, and the decades-long Iranian nuclear threat will finally end.
But, unlike apocalyptic betrayals, such a bold show of force is unthinkable for Obama, and so we could be looking at a nuclear World War III in the not-too-distant future.
Noah Beck is the author of The Last Israelis, an apocalyptic novel about Iranian nukes and other geopolitical issues in the Middle East.
