WATCH: Ben Carson Upholds Six-Day Creation

Dr. Ben Carson says the Bible is clear: God created the world in six literal, 24-hour days.

He also denies that evolution involved a change from one species to another over millions of years, saying the spread of Darwinism was fueled by the devil.

"I'm not a hard and fast person who says the Earth is only 6,000 years old, but I do believe in the six-day creation," he said during a speech before the 2011 Celebration of Creation conference at Australia's Avondale College. "It doesn't say when He created them except for, 'In the beginning.' The earth could have been here for a long time before he started creating things on it."

But he said the Bible uses the term "the evening and the morning ... because He knew that people would come along and try to say, 'Oh, it was millions and millions of years.'"

Dr. Carson says in the video that the Bible states that each species "brought forth after its own kind, because He knew people would come along and say, 'You know, this changed into that and this changed into that, and this into that' - so at the very beginning of the Bible, He puts that to rest."

The theory of evolution, spread by Charles Darwin's Origin of the Species, had an unsavory origin, he said. "I personally believe that this theory Darwin came up with was something that was encouraged by the adversary," he said.

That worries critics like left-wing writer David Corn. "If Ben Carson ... actually believes that Satan actively encourages evolution and other misguided notions, then does he consider his adversaries in political or scientific debates to be the useful idiots of the devil?" he wrote in Mother Jones magazine. "If so, can he accept the idea of compromise or collaboration with those being encouraged and exploited by the Prince of Darkness? His belief in six-day creationism is not merely a curiosity. It is tied to a deeper belief that may profoundly skew how he sees his opponents and the workings of the political world."

On the other hand, those who believe in evolution often deride creationism as "poisonous and medieval." Can such secularists govern or compromise with their more devout colleagues, or represent their constituents?

I had just spotted another praying mantis. It was sitting like a king on top of the door-knob of my front door. I kept noticing these praying mantises here and there. They were usually stationed on my front door as if to make sure they were noticed. This went on for a few years, although I didn't realize its significance until much later.

I also started having dreams. Dreams about... you guessed it... praying mantises! I began dreaming about all sorts of praying mantises. I even dreamt about a huge army of praying mantises marching in ranks on my front porch!

Was this some type of strange obsession? It was starting to feel that way. I couldn't grasp yet that this experience was rooted in the Lord somehow. Could God be speaking to me through a bug?!(Photo via Pixabay)

By this time, I had developed a fairly strong intercessory ministry at my church. I was growing in my intercessory role, preferring to spend time in prayer much more than anything else. I also began teaching about prophetic intercession in a handful of churches, including my own. I was fascinated when a few churches had a little bug appear on their property doors soon after I left. They too were visited by a praying mantis.

After a decade of praying mantis visitations and lots of prayer experiences and prayer testimonies, I finally wrote a book about prayer titled The Intercessor's Handbook. It had been in my heart to write about the subject, but I couldn't find the grace to do it. I'm a busy pastor, an itinerant minister, a wife, and a mother to two young children. I simply didn't have the time.

Things supernaturally changed after a woman wrote to me about her dream. She dreamt that I had written a book on prayer. "It's some type of handbook," she said. I felt the anointing of the Holy Spirit once I read her note. Through the vehicle of her dream, I had just received the supernatural grace to write. It took two years, but I published it during the summer of 2013.

To my surprise, I began to gather readers from all over the world. People from South Africa, Ireland, Latvia, England, Cambodia, Japan, and of course the USA, were reading the book. I also received testimony again and again from readers that praying mantises were appearing at their homes. One woman in Chicago, for example, had a praying mantis fly to her porch deck the moment she sat down to read.

What Was God Up To?

It appeared that He was speaking and spreading the news about prayer through a sign. He was teaching us that when you see a praying mantis, it's time to pray. We see this concept alluded to in Job 12:7 (NLT): "Just ask the animals, and they will teach you. Ask the birds of the sky, and they will tell you."

Think of what these little creatures teach us about prayer. I've observed that when you approach a praying mantis, they don't consider your size or fly away in fear.

If they think you are a threat to them, they put up their prayer hands and punch back and forth in the air as you draw near. They are not intimidated and are ready to defend their position. We can learn a lot from that right there! (Photo via Pixabay)

I also found out the word "mantis" in Greek means "prophet." Think of it this way: When we see a praying mantis we are seeing a Praying Prophet. It's a strong reminder that we actually prophesy in prayer instead of just petitioning the Lord.

This type of praying, known as prophetic intercession, proclaims the Word of the Lord out loud and into the airways. Prophetic intercession is powerful! It creates life and light and shatters the darkness. This kind of praying will put angels into their assignments (see Psalm 103:20) and stop the plans of the enemy.

God speaking like this through creation can be a s-t-r-e-t-c-h-i-n-g concept for some. You also get the sense that people try to read the Word of the Lord into pretty much anything when it's not the Word of the Lord at all. I understand how that can happen. When I was a new Christian, I believed that if I saw a black cat it meant there was witchcraft going on. It was nothing more than superstition and I could never connect it to anything tangible. If God is speaking to you through creation, you'll clearly connect the dots and be able to prove it.

God Will Clearly Confirm What He Is Saying

Let me share a few examples to bring more clarity:

My friend, Dave Williams (club52.com), received a Word from God several years ago to raise up 52 millionaires in his church for the purposes of funding missions and world evangelism. Another friend, Brazil Missionary Tom Hammond (riverintl.org), began experiencing angelic visitations and "bird" visitations. Many of us can connect to visitations from angels, but visitations from birds? Tom can't leave his home windows open because a bird will eventually fly in and find a place to perch.

One time, he had a bird fly right to his shoulder and stay there as he took his walk. I had the privilege of seeing what happened to his tree in his front yard the day before he moved to Brazil. His tree filled with a very large flock of noisy white birds. They stayed there all day and night and never stopped "talking"! Tom says the bird encounters are a sign to him that angels are near and it brings him comfort.

When God speaks through His creation, He will speak clearly and confirm what He is saying. Remembering this truth will help you to distinguish His voice from a false impression.

I know many people who sincerely look for God's voice in nature, but read things into nature that aren't really there. What they believe to be a God encounter in nature isn't confirmed nor is it connected to anything tangible.

In the meantime, I'm confident that you will see praying mantises from now on with a whole new conviction. I've had too many testimonies to count of people being visited very specifically by praying mantises after I've shared my experience.

Just remember this: When you see the praying mantis, it's time to pray!

According to research from King's College in London, the current model of the Big Bang predicts that our universe should not exist.

New research bears bad news for the Big Bang theory of the universe's origin.

Scientists at King's College in London have found that the current model of the Big Bang would have resulted in a universe that collapsed soon after its formation.

According to the researchers, the rapid cosmic expansion physicists would expect to see after the Big Bang would have caused a good bit of turbulence—a situation worsened, not helped, by the so-called "God particle."

This "God particle," the Higgs boson, should have crushed our universe, shifting it into a lower energy field in which collapse would have been inevitable.

While it is doubtful astrophysicists will discard the Big Bang model, it might suffer a worse fate: the death of a thousand qualifications.

"When we hear the term Big Bang theory, many people assume it was conceived in its present form and has remained unassailed ever since. In reality, it is a very pliable model," wrote Answers in Genesis scientist Dr. Danny Faulkner in September 2013. "Several assumed variables in the equations have been changed to make the numbers match new findings. Today's Big Bang model little resembles the one your grandfather learned, and it is likely to continue morphing."

Conversely, the idea of the "God particle" doesn't really present a problem for creationists. According to them, the Higgs particle tells us about how the universe works now—not necessarily how it originated.

"The Higgs boson particle probably does exist. God upholds the creation with the power of His word, and I think this is just a humanly seen manifestation of that," Faulker said.

Within the creationist system, it is not surprising that godless models of creation come up short. The universe not only requires an ultimate causeless cause, but a constant sustainer keeping it in existence.

Hebrews 1:3a states of Christ, "He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power."

“And no one puts new wine in old wineskins; if he does, the wine will burst the skins, and both the wine and the skins will be ruined. Rather, new wine is for freshly prepared wineskins.” Mark 2:22 CJB

I put on my new pair of work dress shoes recently. At first they felt over tight, uncomfortable, and squeezed my big toe into the corner spot so much that it couldn’t wiggle if it wanted to. They just didn’t fit right, as I thought they would once home, after that brief moment I tried them on at the store, just before I picked out an extra pair of gray socks, and the loaf of whole wheat bread my wife asked for as I went out the door.

But then that was last month. Today, after wearing them and having “broken them in”, they are just like my favorite old pair that I had to throw out, due to wear and tear after seven years.

If you think about it for a moment, it is like a new job, a new home setup, a new car (even if the new one is just a little younger than the previous one), or anything we now have that is different than what we had become used to. Until we gave it some time to work out the kinks and the normal, uncomfortable newness, which we had really appreciated with the old that we had, it didn’t feel right, or as good as the previous one. But having given it some time to grow on us, it surely does now. It has become even better than what we had before.

When the Holy Spirit brings revival again, knowing He certainly has promised to do so, as written in His Word for these last days, it will not be what we are used to. In fact, He may even get rejected by the old guard as He did when He came in previous visitations, as the experiences are not what we have now become accustomed to, since the last time of touching this planet in a major way.

“You are not from these parts, are you?” could be the response of some who look on from a distance, upon that which will be going on. Ruach HaKodesh, and those He has put new wine into, could easily be dismissed as just having another emotional experience or fanatic outburst, as the new movement overshadows the previous ones from the Pentecostal decades, the healing years, or the last, great Charismatic Movement I was involved with in the ‘70’s and onward.

This coming revival, effecting the nations with the powerful Good News of salvation, healing and the love of the Father God, will so impact people, that the new wine will cause the old to be done away with, replaced with a fresh fullness that we didn’t think could, or would, happen again. Because we had not seen it before, it will transform our lives in such a way that we will boldly face the enemy, confidently proclaim the Gospel, and tear down the walls that have surrounded the cozy churches, keeping us from effecting the world as we have been called to do.

“Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.” Mark 16:15 NASU

We will be getting out of the pew and into the pasture, going where the lost sheep are throughout the world. Some are even right next to us in the office desk, or the one occupying the white house down the street.

Those blinded by the spiritual forces of Islam, Hinduism, secular humanism, “sexual freedom” and other lies of the enemy will be set free, as the Lord Jesus Christ, Yeshua HaMashiach, moves in to break the bondages and strongholds that have ravaged the nations we have been called to be in and shine throughout.

As the old pair of shoes has worn out, it is time to get on a new pair. They will feel uncomfortable at first, but once our feet adjust to them, by His grace working within us, they will take us to places we had only dreamed of going before.

I am looking forward to this next revival outpouring movement of the Lord and His Holy Spirit, to bring it on and get us going.

“For just as there are many parts that compose one body, but the parts don’t all have the same function; so there are many of us, and in union with the Messiah we comprise one body, with each of us belonging to the others. But we have gifts that differ and which are meant to be used according to the grace that has been given to us.” Romans 12:4-6 CJB

Walking down any city street, especially in a major urban area, you see all kinds of people. In Charlotte, North Carolina’s uptown, or Center City as some would call it, you can also observe many nationalities – those from India, Africa, Southeast Asia, China, South America, and of course different sections of America. (I know this due to the Anglo-Saxon ancestral accents I hear!) Personally, I love them all.

In the business office I work at in uptown Charlotte, as the Accountant since 2012, we regularly have interns who come for the summer months. Some of them are still in college, while others have just completed their upper level education and are ready to hit the marketplace. They just haven’t gotten hired quite yet, so this will look good on their resume.

Often we have a wide diversity of these young “millennials”, those in the 20’s age group. They have come to serve with us from different Carolina colleges, having diverse cultural and societal backgrounds. This particular summer we have some whose grandparents were from China, India and Scotland. Each one brings a specific skill, knowledge base, and educational training, which are used to enhance the labor force the company already has. Having them around certainly drops the average age of the staff, at least for these few months.

It amazes me how diverse the Lord has created mankind. From every tribe, nation and group He has delighted Himself with such a rainbow of colors, languages and gifts. One country’s people may be advanced in mathematics, while another is known for their agricultural products. Some nations specialize in manufacturing, and some in high adventure, using their natural resources for the excitement and enjoyment of their visitors.

Can you imagine if we were all Anglo-Saxon Americans, or all Chinese, or possibly everyone was an African? In my perspective I would find that quite boring. I think that is why the Lord God of Israel created so many features, colors, talents and skills that each one possesses. Though twins are very close to being exactly alike, the wide variety of men, women and children are not, and it is awesome. What a creative God there is!

It has been a true blessing to have had friends from different backgrounds and genealogies. In travelling to foreign countries, and meeting new friends, I am very appreciate of the various cultures each has developed, with their amazing foods, clothing styles, and personalities. It is simply the work of the great God we know and serve.

As people express the various skills, talents and gifts they have, I encourage you to appreciate and respect that which each one offers to the world, for each is made in the image of our God, and has a specific purpose in God’s eternal plan. Accepting the wide variety of expressions, with multifunction and diversities, will bring more joy and thanksgiving in our lives for who they are, and what we can share together.

Give thanks to the Lord for His extravagant creation!
