Dear family of friends,

There has been a lot of rain in our state of North Carolina this current summer season. The local weatherman reported that the 12” above normal level has been the most in the 75 years of their record keeping. Cutting my grass between the falling bullets just hasn’t been working. I can attest to that fact.

As I drove in the pouring rain to my former boss’ house during the latest downpour, to receive his wise counsel about book publishing, I was speaking to another on the cell phone. Flooding was occurring in her home. She conveyed that she felt she had been under spiritual attack lately, and the excess water was the latest incident indicating that.

My response, after listening for about 15 minutes, wasn’t just a quip to “come up with a quick solution,” as they say men do (so we can get on to being the answer to the next problem.)

I said, "Seems like you are in a lifeboat, connected by only a lifeline to the big boat. So get back on the boat.”

It wasn’t meant at all to be a pun, as the rain outside my speeding car might suggest, or as her house foundation continued to seep water through it. I believe I was moved by Holy Spirit, Ruach HaKodesh (Hebrew). She really seemed to be hanging on, connected in her little raft on the mighty ocean, by a single lifeline. She needed to get into the boat, get on the ship, where the rest of the people were safely being cared for. I am speaking about the local body of believers.

Some of you may say, “I am connected,” as her response back to me was.

What? You no longer belong anywhere as a member, due to some incident? But now you do watch your favorite TV teacher/preacher on TV? Or you have a long distance phone conversation with an older saint in your former congregation, and you call that “being connected?” As one would say, “How is that working out for you?”

Explain that logic to me from the Scriptures, which basically commands that we are to be “joined and fitted together” in His Body. 

Sometimes being direct, in your face, sharing tough love as James Dobson wrote decades ago, needs to be just that – a realistic look at where you are at now, and where He actually wants you to be, in experiencing His purposeful life.

We all have excuses why we can or cannot do something. If your spiritual, and possibly natural life depended on it, will you use that excuse to just stay in your little raft? Does that hold water with Him?

If you are as one floating in a raft, hanging onto to the Father Ship by a lifeline, I highly suggest you really ask the Father where you are supposed to be connected, and start pulling on the line in that direction.

The TV man or woman, or the cell phone person, as good and needed as they may be, won’t quite make it in the days ahead for you, when the real spiritual floods come. That hand extended through the airwaves can’t be the one you will need - right at hand.

It is best to be connected, within a ship, with those the Lord intends for you to be connected with. He said so. It can happen. It should happen. When will you let it happen?

Egyptian army kills dozens of Hamas gunmen

The Egyptian army's new offensive against terror organizations operating in the Sinai Peninsula is well under way, and one of the groups paying a heavy price is Hamas.

Many expected Hamas to suffer as a result of the recent ouster of Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi and his Muslim Brotherhood, which is the parent organization of Hamas.

Over the past several days, Egyptian military officials told Arab media that some 200 gunmen had been killed during battles in Sinai, including at least 32 members of Hamas. The Palestinian group uses the peninsula to smuggle arms and other goods into the Gaza Strip, from where it wages war on southern Israel.

However, the situation remains volatile, and the Egyptian army has asked Israel for a green light to increase its forces in the Sinai. Under the terms of the Camp David Accords, Egypt is permitted to maintain only a very small force in Sinai so as to not threaten Israel's southern border.

Israel is expected to respond positively to the request, as it considers today's Egyptian military leadership to be a partner in the fight against radical Islamists.

There were hints that the Egyptian army could even strike Gaza itself. One official told an Arab newspaper that the Egyptian army had been frustrated by Hamas fighters who use tunnels running under the border to quickly attack Egyptian forces and then retreat to the safety of Gaza.

The Lord your God goes before you...

Jason Upton and his band were engaged in concert/worship at a college auditorium in Alexandria, Louisiana, when a God incidence miraculously happen while Jason was totally consumed by the Holy Spirit, as so often he is. I'll summarize the testimony of Michael, a band member, below that I heard and watched on a video of his testimony on Youtube:

Michael, one of Jason's band members, was checking the sound tract equipment recording the concert, when he looked up at the ceiling and saw fog floating around. He figured it was the condenser in the air conditioner creating it. He turned around and asked the janitor what the stuff is floating around the ceiling. 

The janitor didn't know and stated that there are no pipes up there. A Holy fear came over Michael and immediately lead him to hide under the soundboard. He felt so much God that he knew something was going to come through. All of a sudden, a boy came to Michael while Mike was under the soundboard and, in a very loud voice, told Michael that there was a 12 foot angel with wings on the stage standing directly behind Jason. 

As I understand it, only the boy could see the angelic apparition. Mind you, also, that Michael or the band members were not singing, as one was under the soundboard and the other was on stage, but not singing himself. Jason was singing the prophecy the Holy Spirit was giving him, and thus, the gathering was not singing, as well.

Michael came out from under the soundboard and looked at the recorder and it was clearly recording the vocal harmony, but only Jason was heard to be singing some words on stage that made no sense --"ahda daah (sp) (these words, however, did not come out on the segment played on the video...at least I can't hear them...I tend to be a little deaf, LOL). 

Michael said to himself that if the harmony is on the recording when he plays it back, he was going to come out of his skin! He then look up at Jason and Jason's eyes were rolled back into his eye sockets, while teetering back and forth and totally caught up by the Spirit".

After the concert/worship, Jason and Michael went back to the dorm for the evening, as Michael roomed with Jason. Jason, still feeling "in the Spirit" said that his body members felt very tingly. Michael said Jason was still high in the Spirit and laid on the bed with his clothing on and fell asleep for the night.

The next morning Michael went back to Nashville and played the recording back. Low and behold, a perfect angelic harmonious voice came through and absolutely floored Michael! The engineer at the studio said he thought it was just a psycho acoustic anomaly and walk away, dismissing Michael's amazement. 

Mike told the engineer to come back and sort out all the channels, and sure enough, on one of the channels, the engineer said that it sounded like some 12 foot person was singing harmony behind Jason (of course the engineer did not know what he was saying at the time when he made the "12 foot" comment). Michael said to the engineer, "I knew it was an angel", laughing for Joy! Furthermore, come to find out, via later emails, "ahda daah' (sp) was the Malawi language for "Come to the Table"!

Ahava Love Letter (#60) “Need Money?” - Steve Martin

Charge them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, to be generous and ready to share. Dear family of friends,

Everybody needs money. You, me, the family of four struggling to make ends meet; the single Mom with two kids and two part time jobs; all the people in other countries.  We all need provision, yes? We need money, so it seems.

In every nation around the world, some form of currency exchange is the norm for trade and finance. Pounds (UK), dollars (USA & Canada), shekels (Israel), rubles (Russia), rupees (India), yuans (China)…and the list goes on.

In many languages "bread" means "money" and having money means you can buy bread. There must then be a reason that our Lord Jesus (Yeshua) instructed us to pray for our daily bread. Do you pray for your bread (money) daily?  If not, why not?

I know I don't always. I often forget to thank the Lord everyday for His constant provision. And I often fail to ask Him for my daily bread. I just assume it will happen.

When I wrote this statement on my Facebook page, “It's my responsibility to obey. It's His responsibility to provide”, the response people gave showed they could relate to it.  I think they “liked” because they want to trust. They want to believe that faith actions on their part bring rewards. They realize that the Lord, our Provider, blesses, as we obey Him.

Over the past three “lean” years, I learned to pray for our daily bread, and to give thanks for all His provision. When they past, I thought I didn’t have to be so concerned about those “little things” - like asking and thanking. I was wrong. I still do.

So the logical conclusion I have reached, which has been lodged deeper into my spirit: if I obey His Word to ask daily, and to give thanks in all things, He will respond with His daily provision. But on the other hand, if I mess up, which will happen, out of His everlasting love He will still provide. So I tend to think He will provide "more than enough" if I first obey daily. And you?

Keep asking daily for your bread. Keep giving thanks for that which He provided. A time will come when the economies of the world will cease to exist as we know it, so now it the time to learn this reality lesson.
