Numbers. They Do Count. Now Think On This by Steve Martin

Numbers.
They Do Count.

Now Think On This
Steve Martin

“Shim‘on Kefa went up and dragged the net ashore. It was full of fish, 153 of them; but even with so many, the net wasn’t torn.” (John 21:11-12 Complete Jewish Bible)

Have you ever wondered why Scripture says there were 153 fish caught in the net? Why not just use an estimate, such as 150, or even 200, to “evangelistically speak” as some would? Why did the Holy Spirit (Ruach HaKodesh) even have the Apostle John record any number, and not just write that Peter “had a lot of fish”?

I often consider these things. Why does the Lord so often use specific numbers when He describes historical facts? He even says He knows the number of hairs on our heads. “But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.” (Matthew 10:30-31 NKJV)

Do you ever think as to why? Maybe it is just me and my thoughts.

Doing the job as an accountant for my daily work, I am always aware of numbers, and particularly the “bottom line” in the company’s monthly financial reports. Numbers give you a good picture of where you are at, health wise in a business or ministry. As they say, generally speaking, good numbers mean you are doing well, and the employees will get a paycheck come pay day. That’s good!

So why is the Lord Jesus, sitting on His heavenly throne today, caring so much about numbers, and makes sure we do also? I believe it is another reflection of His heart for us, to show us specifically that everything that happens to us in our daily life is fully known by Him. He does care. And He wants you to know that.

Yeshua (Jesus) cares if you only have $49.50 for the groceries needed for these next three days, when the store will tell you those items will cost $52.18. He cares if the $725 rent that is due in seven days is going to be there, and you only have $650 now, and the paycheck isn’t coming until the following Friday. Our Lord cares if your only transportation breaks down. Then the auto shop tells you it will be $824 to fix it. Your checking account says you have $328 and your credit card is almost maxed out. How is it going to get repaired?

Walking in faith is believing He cares for you, even in regards to the very number of hairs on your head, which by the way will need cutting soon, yet another $14.95 (cheap in many places in the USA) in three weeks.

When it looks like you are going to be lacking in what is needed, or when you are lacking in what is needed now, our Bible tells us, in very accurate and historical terms, that we can count on Him to be our Provider, to be Jehovah Jireh (the Lord provides) that He is.

Look back on your life today from where you were a few months ago, a few years, a few decades. Hasn’t He brought you thus far? You have made it, haven’t you? Give thanks to the Lord for that. I do every day.

Jesus didn’t promise us a rose garden. He did promise to lead us in the way we are to go, and by taking that road, His way, His promises are daily proven, and His faithfulness will always be known in our life.

Numbers do count, because we are counted as very important to Him. His love abounds beyond all that we can comprehend in this life.

In a short period of time, known by God the Father, these days are also numbered. Then we, who believe in Jesus the Messiah as our Savior, will be with Him for eternity in heaven. You and I can count on that!

Now think on this, in the love of Jesus,

LOVE FOR HIS PEOPLE FEATURED BOOK

Paperback $5.95 or less
Kindle $1,99

In 2010 the Lord God of Israel, my Savior Jesus Christ (Yeshua HaMashiach), led me to start the ministry we call Love For His People. Its primary purpose is to share the love of the Lord with the nation of Israel, Jews around the world, and the people in all the nations as we can. For that end, through social media, writing and distributing books, and in person ministry, we are seeing the love of Jesus spread.

We are grateful that He has given us much love in order to do just that. We often hear the word “love” spoken out loud, and written about, in many ways. It has contrasting meanings to the wide range of people that exist, as it is expressed in different methods through people. When it has all been said and done, there is an eternal love that will stand the test of fire. Because the biblical expression of love, laying down one’s life for his friends, has eternal value, this love from God the Father to His creation is the type that I most seek after and try to share.

In these short chapters of Arms of Love, which is also the title of a song Laurie and I sang while leading various church worship meetings, and as the lead singers in our Ahava Love Band, I share some aspects of how I believe the Bible speaks of love. For you who are about to read this, my prayer is that your heart will be enlarged with His, and you too will become one, even more, to give love for His people, both Jew and Gentile, both saved and unsaved.

I hope that as you read these chapters, you will become more inspired to spend time with the Lord, experience His heart of love, and share it with our fellow man. The world needs to know the love of God.

WATCH: What to Do in a Struggling Marriage - TONY DUNGY/ALL PRO DAD CHARISMA NEWS/NEW MAN

You may be there. Things at home are cold. There is a tension in the air.
You and your wife have been fighting for a long time. Feelings of hopelessness or even bitterness can quickly come flooding in. The last thing you want to do at the end of a hard day is sit in your driveway not wanting to go inside because you and your wife are at odds.
When you commit your life to someone, at some point you are going to go through rocky points in the relationship. People often look at me after 33 years of marriage and assume I have a marriage with no problems.
Believe me, over the course of time, we have had our share of struggles. Everything has not always been smooth. In particular, we have had plenty of disagreements. If you have a struggling marriage, this is what I would recommend.
Focus on What God Wants
The easy thing to do is to focus on what I want over what my spouse wants. I believe our natural state is one of selfishness. If Lauren and I are facing difficulty, we always try to focus on the Lord and what He wants above all. We ask ourselves the question, "How does God want us to handle this?" It helps us to get beyond our own desires and back on the same page. I would recommend that to anyone having marital trouble.
Prayer
I would also recommend watching a movie called War Room. In it, there is a couple who has a struggling marriage. It gives some great practical tips for praying for your marriage and how to fight for one another rather than against one another. When in doubt, turning toward the Lord is always the best.

How Would Joseph Interpret These Dreams? - JONATHAN FELDSTEIN CHARISMA NEWS

Jonathan Feldstein and Franklin Graham
Jonathan Feldstein recently presented Franklin Graham a one-of-a-kind gift, a photo of the Old City of Jerusalem from the view of the Mt. Of Olives, printed on ancient basalt stone that was rescued from Capernaum on the Sea of Galilee. (Photo courtesy of Jonathan Feldstein)

How Would Joseph Interpret These Dreams?

Despite the biblical significance of dreams in several instances and later psychological use of dream interpretation, I rarely remember dreams much less give any credence to them when I do.
So when I had two vivid dreams that I remembered in the week that the Jewish people read the Torah portion with Pharaoh recounting his dreams to Joseph and Joseph interpreting them accurately, I woke up, so to speak.
I'd sure love a Joseph to interpret them for me as they relate to things taking place in my life and relate to Heart to Heart Israel. I am happy to share them and welcome your interpretations or input.
In my first dream, I was riding a bike down a long hill in an Arab neighborhood south of Jerusalem, through which I drive regularly. The fact that I don't own a working bike makes the dream all the more interesting.
As I began to descend the hill from Beit Jalla, next to Bethlehem, I was enjoying the scenery and letting gravity and momentum do its thing cruising along without pedaling. Despite signs in English and Arabic that stated the road had been repaved as a project of USAID, U.S. tax dollars, I carefully weaved around the potholes while trying to stay close to the shoulder and stayed away from cars passing in both directions.
As I gained speed, I rode by a young man walking in the opposite direction on my left. Suddenly, he appeared out of my peripheral vision, trotting along in pace with my riding. I started peddling, first casually and then more fervently as he increased his pace and kept up with me before pulling a knife and stabbing me in the back.
Then, I woke up shaken. Clearly, in my subconscious elements of the reality with which Israelis are living daily have seeped in—terrorist stabbings, stoning and car ramming taking place daily. Though the Israeli media has dubbed the main intersection near my home, not far from where I was stabbed in my dream, as the "Intersection of Death," I don't think that I am any more fearful or concerned than most people. But maybe I'm wrong. Or maybe there's a deeper message here that needs a biblical Joseph interpretation.
The next dream two nights later was awesome. I dreamed that I met Billy Graham. He appeared to me as if he were in his late 60s or 70s. He stood tall, had a firm handshake and spoke clearly but quietly as we sat in wooden arm chairs outside, under a tented area. The only sign of his age was the way he sat down slowly into his chair next to mine and how he stood when we finished our conversation. In truth, it would be the fulfilment of a dream to get to meet and speak with him as I did, a conversation that felt like it went on for a while.
I don't remember everything we talked about. But I vividly remember one thing. At one point, I thanked him for a lifetime of blessing Israel. Instantly, a tear formed and dripped down his left cheek. It was a touching and personal moment that, even in my dream, was a humbling privilege.
Having probably been the only Orthodox Jew to attend Rev. Graham's 95th birthday party and, recently, having the honor to speak at the Billy Graham Library as we celebrated the donation of two new ambulances from Rev. Franklin Graham on behalf of Samaritan's Purse and the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, perhaps this dream was a virtual expression or projection of the awe in which I felt to be a part of this.
I didn't get to meet Billy Graham in person, but did meet his longtime friend, Dr. Cliff Barrows and, of course, Franklin Graham as well as leaders of both the ministries which he heads.
In speaking at the Billy Graham Library, I noted the ongoing wave of terror plaguing Israel which my first dream represented. I shared how it is a comfort to all Israelis to know that no matter the threat, ambulances like the ones that were dedicated this week are ready, equipped and staffed to respond to every emergency.
I also noted that, like Samaritan's Purse and the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, ministries whose mission is global and benefit all of God's children, Israel's national ambulance, EMS and blood service provides critical life-saving support for all Israelis regardless of religion, ethnic or national background, as well as any visitors in Israel, and even our neighbors from countries at war with Israel.
I thanked Rev. Graham for blessing Israel and pray that the reciprocal blessing will be vast. But I also thanked him for helping be part of the conclusion of the Scripture of Genesis 12:3, by assuring that through this donation, Israel will also continue to bless the families of the world. (Please be in touch to see the full remarks of the recent dedication.)
I look forward to celebrating the arrival of these ambulances, which will be dispatched to the Golan Heights, with a large Druze population, and to Nazareth, Israel's largest Arab city whose population is mostly Muslim. These minority populations make up some 20 percent of Israeli society and it's a point of pride that among other things, all receive equal care when it comes to lifesaving services.
Donations of ambulances do indeed bless Israel and the partnership with Samaritan's Purse and the BGEA is humbling. Some have said, "If Franklin Graham can donate two ambulances, anyone can and everyone should." Others have said, "Franklin Graham has many more resources, so I am not sure I can do something as meaningful."
In 2016, Heart to Heart Israel will focus especially on helping communities come together to take part of donating an ambulance. The idea is that if 5-10 ministries can join in raising money, together we can save lives for a generation to come.
There are many ways to bless Israel, and all are appreciated and noteworthy as an expression of God's heart. It's a special privilege to be used through God to be present and celebrate so many of these.
Of course any ministry that wants to donate one ambulance on its own will be wonderful and welcomed. Either way, we are here to help. We are grateful to be the recipient of your blessings so that Israel is able to continue to bless others. We pray that, as a result, you will be blessed in return.

Did 2015's Prophetic Words Ring True? - Jennifer LeClaire Charisma Magazine

Did some of 2015's prophecies ring true?

Did 2015's Prophetic Words Ring True?

Prophetic Insight, from Charisma Media
12.29.15  Jennifer LeClaire   Charisma Magazine

In the days and weeks ahead, prophetic voices around the world will release prophecies for 2016. You'll read a handful of them on the "Prophetic Insight" section of charismamag.com.
But before we charge ahead to weigh prophetic mandates, directives and warnings for 2016, let's take a minute to look back at the prophetic words declared over 2015. After all, you can't always limit God's words to a 12-month timeline.
As I've said before, it's possible that some 2015 prophecies won't be relevant for years and others will remain relevant for years to come. So, again, before we move on to the next new prophetic word, let's review what prophetic voices declared last year and respond according to His Spirit.
A Year of New Beginnings
prophesied that "2015 is a year of new beginnings. That means some of you are going to birth some things. That means you may be a little uncomfortable in 2015. It means you will face some transition. It means you may enter into travail. It means you will face the accuser of the brethren and engage in spiritual warfare at new levels." Was it true? It was for me and for many who I have come across in this past year. If you did not have a new beginning in 2015, there is still a new beginning available for you. As I recently wrote in my Plumb Line column, You Can Have a New Beginning in2016—You Really Can.
The Turn-Around Year
The Apostolic Council of Prophetic Elders (ACPE), led by Cindy Jacobs, declared 2015 was a turn-around year: This is the year when God will give His people the chance to recalibrate in the midst of what will seem to be a whirlwind year. To recalibrate means to correct in mid-course, modify, amend, change, metamorphose, renovate, transform, or turn." Did this word come to pass? I believe it's an accurate word in many respects. It was certainly a whirlwind year in the seven mountains of influence. How many of God's people recalibrated, or repented, remains unclear. Repentance is a key to seeing 2 Chronicles 7:14 become a reality in America. I believe the Lord requires yet more repentance; true repentance.
A Shemitah Year Mandate: Throw Jezebel Down!
Rob Winters declared a Shemitah year mandate to throw Jezebel down: "What is not commonly known about Shemitah is that it is derived from the Hebrew root word 'shamat,' which is used nine times in Scripture. In three instances 'shamat' is translated 'throw down' and is used in the passage where Jehu commanded two eunuchs to throw Jezebel down from a second story window, killing her. Jezebel's demise at the hands of Jehu ultimately resulted in the obliteration of Baal worship in Israel." Was this a good word? I have written three books on the Jezebel spirit—including my latest: Jezebel's Puppets—so I may admittedly be biased as I believe we have long needed to throw Jezebel down. I don't think we got the job done last year, nor do I believe this spirit will be completely eradicated until Jesus returns, but we can displace this principality over our cities through transforming revival.
A Year of Revealing Hidden Things
Ryan LeStrange announced 2015 was a year of revealing hidden things: "The Father is peeling back the layers that have created a dull edge and sharpening the prophetic voices. The prophetic ministry is coming to the forefront in this season as there is a growing hunger to hear from God. Much of the church world has restricted the Holy Spirit and limited His flow in their meetings but there will be a breaking forth of genuine prophetic ministry among those who are hungry. This is a time of refining for the prophetic community. The words, revelations and voices must be on target and specific. The sword is being sharpened and accuracy increasing!" I have witnessed a number of new fresh prophetic voices come on the scene in 2015 with great accuracy. The prophetic movement, of course, is not fully restored and we all need to press into greater intimacy with Him, which produces the genuine witness.
Stay tuned in the coming days and weeks as we'll share more prophetic words. In the meantime, review these decrees, announcements, insights and directives. Grab what rings with your spirit even as you prepare your heart to receive what God has for you in the new year.
