Joel C. Rosenberg's Blog: Israel and Jordan hit with deadly terrorist attacks this week.

Israel and Jordan hit with deadly terrorist attacks this week. I ask Christians to pray for Jews, Muslims and Christians both countries.

by joelcrosenberg
(Washington, D.C.) -- My heart is heavy this morning as I grieve for those Israelis and Jordanians affected by two terrorist attacks this week -- one just north of Amman on Monday that killed five Jordanian intelligence officers, and the other in the heart of  Tel Aviv yesterday, a mass shooting event by two Palestinians that left four Israelis dead and sixteen wounded.
What makes these attacks all the more tragic is that terrorism in Israel has actually beendeclining steadily in recent months, and most of these have been isolated knife attacks, not shootings. In fact, until Wednesday, not a single Israeli civilian had been killed by a terrorist in three months.
Meanwhile, under the impressive leadership of King Abdullah II, Jordan remains one of the safest and most secure countries in the Arab world, despite the implosion of Syria to their north, the ISIS surge across Iraq to their east, and a massive influx of refugees that has increased Jordan's population by some 30% in recent years.
As I noted in a recent Jerusalem Post column, "Jordanian commandos, General Intelligence Directorate operatives and elite police units are taking down an ISIS or related cell inside Jordan every week. As a result of excellent intelligence and security work, Jordan hasn’t had a major terrorist attack inside its borders since 2005, certainly nothing like the recent jihadist attacks in Brussels, Paris, Istanbul, San Bernardino and elsewhere."
In light of these events, I ask Christians around the world to please pray faithfully for those who were wounded and traumatized, that in His great love and mercy the Lord would grant them quick and full physical, emotional and spiritual recoveries.
Please pray, too, for the families and friends of those killed, that the Lord would grant them His divine comfort and "a peace that passes all understanding," of which the Apostle Paul writes in Philippians 4:7.
At the same time, please pray for Prime Minister Netanyahu and King Abdullah II and their security services as they work to bring to justice to those responsible, comfort those who are grieving, and stay on the offensive against those who seek to rob, kill and destroy.
For more on these developing stories:
  • "The Jordanian government said a terrorist attack against the office of the national intelligence agency Monday killed five employees, including three intelligence officers, in a rare assault on a crucial U.S. ally in the Middle East," reported theWall Street Journal. "The attack occurred at the office of the General Intelligence Directorate in the Baqa’a Palestinian refugee camp north of the capital Amman, the official Petra News Agency quoted government spokesman Mohammed Momani as saying."
  • "Four people have been killed and 16 people have been wounded in a terror attack at the Sarona Market in Tel Aviv in a terror attack," reported Ynet News. "Two alleged terrorists have been neutralized at the scene. One of the terrorists have died, the other is being treated in the hospital in critical condition."

Joel C. Rosenberg's Blog: Which, if any, of the presidential candidates understand Apocalyptic Islam?

Which, if any, of the presidential candidates understand Apocalyptic Islam? My conversation with Todd Starnes of Fox News.

by joelcrosenberg
ToddStarnes-columnonApocalypticIslam(Dallas, Texas) -- The other day, I was interviewed by Todd Starnes of Fox News. He asked me about my family's move as a family to Israel and my experience writing novels that seem to foreshadow future terrorist attacks and wars. He also asked me about my take on the 2016 presidential campaign and whether President Obama or the leading presidential candidates understand the threat of Apocalyptic Islam and are prepared to deal with it.
Todd just finished reading The First Hostage. He very graciously called it "a page-turning political thriller" and "a riveting account of Islamic radicals kidnapping an American president." And as he opened the podcast, he took me aback by saying, "one of my favorite authors on the entire planet is a guy named Joel C. Rosenberg," noting that he was introduced to my novels through Rush Limbaugh talking about them on his programs.
I very much enjoyed our conversation, and it was one of the more thoughtful discussions I've done on the book tour so far. It runs about 30 minutes. Hope you'll take time to listen to the podcast (I've just become a subscriber), and share it with others.
“Once you understand Apocalyptic Islam, you understand just how dangerous it is to give Iran not just one path to nuclear weapons, but two,” he said. “This president doesn’t understand the threat of radical Islam. He won’t even define that – much less Apocalyptic Islam.”
And he doesn’t hold out much hope for the current presidential frontrunners [Secretary Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump] either.
“This is a very challenging year when you have a president and two frontrunners who just don’t understand the most serious foreign policy threat of our time,” he said. “That is not comforting.” Rosenberg has offered counsel to several Republican presidential campaigns including Senators Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio.
“Senator Rubio totally gets it,” he said. “He’s been using that language in the debates and in his speeches.”
Among the others who “get it” are Cruz, Jeb Bush and Rick Santorum.
What about Donald Trump?
“It’s clear [Trump] doesn’t understand this,” he said. ‘It’s just all bloviating.
It’s not so much that the world is facing a future threat -- the threat is already here.
“These people are crucifying Christians, they’re beheading people" he said. “They are creating mayhem and really genocidal conditions in Syria and Iraq and our current president is just using half measure to run some sort of public relations war against them."
He [President Obama] doesn’t have a plan.

More French Jews Aim To Make Aliyah In Wake Of Paris Terror Attacks

“Peace be within your walls and security within your towers!” (Psalm 122:7)
“The time now is ripe to help French Jews immigrate,” Rabbi Yechiel Eckstein, founder and president of the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews, told Tazpit Press Service (TPS).
Rabbi Eckstein’s organization, largely known for supporting Jewish communities in poverty such as those from the former Soviet Union, has also been involved with helping Jews immigrate to Israel. “We talked to the French community and its leaders and there are tens of thousands of Jews in France who want to get out and come to Israel,” Eckstein said.
Rabbi Eckstein told TPS that his organization will aim to help those Jews in France who would like to immigrate but have been discouraged from doing so because of various stumbling blocks. “They don’t have a job waiting for them in Israel and they don’t have money for an apartment,”  Eckstein explained.
“We need to provide them with more than a plane ticket in order to incentivize and motivate more Jews to come from France to Israel,” continued Eckstein . “What we are providing for the mainline Jewish community is the aliyah funds with the benefits and the plans that we have.”
The terror attacks over the weekend pushed some Jews in France who had already been in contact with Rabbi Eckstein’s organization, to speed up their Aliyah plans. “Two couples wanted to advance and to come quicker than our scheduled Aliyah flight next month in December,” noted Eckstein. “They arrived on Monday and although they did not come on a chartered flight, they still received all the benefits that we provide new immigrants with.”
Rabbi Eckstein told TPS that his organization is already developing plans to help other French Jews over the next month. “We have the money and the resources to do so and we were able to help move these two families overnight,” Eckstein said. “If we have to adjust now and have a flight in both November and December, we can do that.”
Rabbi Eckstein also informed TPS of the support his organization is now providing for the security of Chabad houses in France. Chabad houses are Jewish community outreach centers that are managed and run by the Lubavitch Hasidic movement.Get Your Own Personal Israel Flag Today!
“In light of the terrorist attacks in France, we’re now funding all of the 25 Chabad houses in the country,” Rabbi Eckstein told TPS.
Rabbi Eckstein elaborated on the need to concentrate on Chabad houses. “Jewish institutions are being secured by the police of France and by the Jewish institutions themselves, but the Chabad houses are not,” explained Rabbi Eckstein. “Chabad is not always recognized by the local Jewish community or even the police as a Jewish institution as it is not your typical synagogue or dayschool.”
“Chabad also doesn’t have access in the same way to the resources that the Jewish community as a whole does,” Eckstein added.
Rabbi Eckstein’s fellowship was already providing support for the Chabad house in Toulouse after the 2012 terrorist attack at a Jewish school in the city.
Meanwhile, Rabbi Eckstein told TPS that the organization will determine what else it can provide for Jews in France. “We have our staff there on the ground obviously and we’re seeing that there’s certainly an anxiety. We’re taking a good look as to how much more we can do.”
Israel has experienced a significant increase in immigration from France over the last few years. Since 2009, more than 20,000 Jews in France have moved to Israel. Last year alone, at least 7,200 Jews in France immigrated to Israel.

Netanyahu on Radical Islam: It's Time to Wake Up by Julie Stahl CBN News

JERUSALEM, Israel -- Around the world, authorities are on high alert to prevent any more strikes by Islamic terrorists.
In Britain, Prime Minister David Cameron announced Monday that seven terror attacks have been foiled in Britain over the past six months.
President Barack Obama and other world leaders are meeting at a G-20 summit in Turkey, working on the next steps to end the war in Syria and respond to the escalating ISIS threat.
And in Israel, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned Monday that radical Islam is responsible for terrorism around the world.
"In Israel, as in France, terrorism is terrorism and standing behind it is radical Islam and its desire to destroy its victims," Netanyahu said. "The time has come for the world to wake up and unite in order to defeat terrorism."
Following the attacks in Paris, Netanyahu repeated what he has said for years, "militant Islamic terrorism attacks our societies because it wants to destroy our civilization and our values."
The Paris attacks happened just hours after a Palestinian terrorist murdered Rabbi Ya'akov Litman and his 18-year-old son, Netanel, in a shooting attack on their vehicle. His wife, three daughters and another son had minor injuries. The family was on their way to celebrate a pre-wedding Sabbath with their fourth daughter and her soon-to-be in-laws.
Netanyahu said it's time for the world "to condemn terrorism against us to the same degree that they condemn terrorism everywhere else in the world."
Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas condemned the attacks in France. Netanyahu said it would be appropriate for Abbas "to condemn ruthless terrorism against innocent people in Israel and fight the incitement that motivates it."
Israeli security services arrested the perpetrator of the attacks on the Litman family. Netanyahu said the terrorist is a member of Islamic Jihad. Apparently his father and brother turned him in due to Israel's policy of destroying the homes of terrorists.
Netanyahu said Israel is no more blame for the terror against it than France is.
"It is the terrorists who are to blame for terrorism, not the territories, not the settlements and not any other thing. It is the desire to destroy us that perpetuates this conflict and drives the murderous aggression against us," he said.
"The terrorists who attack us have the same murderous intent as those in Paris. Thanks to our aggressive policy against terrorism – to control the ground, go into the villages, demolish terrorists' homes and take preventive action against the infrastructures of terrorism – along with the determined action of the IDF and the security services in carrying out this policy, we succeed many times in frustrating and preventing more serious disasters," Netanyahu said.
In a separate case on Monday, two Palestinians and a third wounded when they opened fire on Israeli troops who had arrived to destroy the home of a terrorist from an earlier attack.

Europe Anti-Semitism Triggers Record Jewish Exodus

Europe Anti-Semitism Triggers

Record Jewish Exodus

BRUSSELS and PARIS -- Terrorist attacks and rising anti-Semitism have convinced more European Jews there is no future for them or their children in Europe.
That's leading to an exodus of the Jews unprecedented since the creation of Israel.
European governments seem unable to prevent rising terrorist attacks against Jews, and that's made Jews as fearful as they've been since the Holocaust.
For a lot of Jews, the killing in Paris at Charlie Hebdo and the kosher supermarket was simply the last straw. It's the kind of bloodshed they had feared would happen.
Anti-Semtism in Europe has become stronger both because of more Muslim immigration and because of the leftist European media's constant demonization of Israel.
"We are facing a different kind of anti-Semtism: what we can call the traditional anti-Semtism, which is centuries old anti-Semitism, and a new phase of anti-Semistism, which is anti-Zionism; the critic of Israel who is actually hiding a real anti-Semistim," Joël Rubinfeld, of the Belgian League Against Anti-Semitism, explained.
A special U.S. envoy who recently returned from Scandinavia said Jews are under threat there as well. Rabbis are undergoing self-defense training. Virtually all synagogues in Europe have their own security or police protection.
European governments know that this new exodus of the Jews is a tragedy. But they seem unable or unwilling to do what it takes to stop the violence.
Experts say when Jews leave, it is the sign of a sick society. Jewish leaders CBN News talked to warn that Jews are only the first victims, and that other groups, particularly Christians, will face the same danger someday if something isn't done.
