Israel: UN Gaza Report 'Morally Flawed, Biased'

Israel: UN Gaza Report 'Morally Flawed, Biased'

JERUSALEM, Israel -- Israel has rejected the U.N. Human Rights Council report on last summer's war in the Gaza Strip, which says both Israel and Hamas may have committed war crimes.
Israel says the 200-page report was "politically motivated and morally flawed from the outset."
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu blasted the council.
"The United Nations Human Rights Council has a singular obsession with Israel," Netanyahu said. "It has passed more resolutions against Israel than against Syria, North Korea, and Iran combined."
"In fact, it has passed more resolutions against Israel than against all the countries of the world combined," he continued. So, Israel treats this report as flawed and biased, and it urges all fair-minded observers to do the same."
Last week, senior generals from the U.S. and NATO countries released their own independent report. They said Israel not only met international standards regarding the laws of armed conflict, but in many cases significantly exceeded that standard.
Some are saying Israel's standard is so high it challenges other Western nations.
During the 50-day conflict, the U.N. commission said 1,462 Palestinian civilians were killed, a third of them children. It criticized Israel for disproportionate force and failing to change its tactics during the war when civilians were killed, even though Israel warned civilians in several ways.
"But it's hard for me to see how Israel could have done better," Reserve Lt. Col. Advocate David Benjamin told CBN News.
Benjamin is the former IDF chief legal advisor for the Gaza Strip.
"In other words, what could it have done more than warn the people like they did? What could they have done more than make phone calls to individuals inside buildings about to be attacked?" he asked.
While the report says Hamas launched more than 4,800 rockets and 1,700 mortars at Israel, it stops short of blaming Hamas for starting the war.
"…it kind of puts the blockade against Gaza as being the root cause. It doesn't suggest that actually the blockade is there because of Hamas terrorism," Benjamin explained.
Ironically Hamas also rejected the findings of the report because of its comparison between Israel and Hamas.
"I think that a fatal mistake and [a] big problem [in] this report that all the time they tried to make kind of comparison between the victims and the murderers," senior Hamas official Ghazi Hamad said in Gaza City Monday.
Mary McGowan Davis, chair of the commission, said they don't have the evidence to prove war crimes were committed.
"It's a great source of regret that on this occasion we could not travel to Israel and the occupied territory to meet them face-to-face," she said.
But Benjamin said the worst part is the pressure that Israel committed war crimes when it's clear that Hamas did. He said cooperating with the UNHRC wouldn't have made a difference.
"There's a built-in problem, [which] is that most of the decisions to attack certain buildings or targets are based on secret intelligence and that secret intelligence you can't have the enemy knowing about, certainly as long as the conflict is still ongoing," he said.
The Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs noted that Israel had preempted a massacre inside Israel by discovering a network of sophisticated cross-border tunnels; that the Iron Dome anti-missile batteries intercepted 735 rockets fired from Gaza, averting an "incalculably higher" Israeli casualty count; and that 875 Hamas rockets actually fell inside Gaza, without reporting the number of casualties from the misfires.
Hamas also rejected an Egyptian ceasefire on July 15 when there were less than 200 Palestinian casualties, thereby making the terror group responsible for more than 1,800 deaths.
Experts say Palestinians intended to use the report when they file claims of alleged war crimes against Israel at the International Criminal Court at The Hague.
Benjamin said it's a great propaganda tool for them, even if it doesn't have much substance.

NFL Hall of Famers Receive Warm Welcome in Jerusalem

NFL Hall of Famers Receive Warm Welcome in Jerusalem

GPO
(Israel Hayom/JNS). Nineteen football Hall of Fame members arrived in Israel for a weeklong event dubbed “Touchdown in Israel: Mission of Excellence,” sponsored by Jewish billionaire Robert Kraft, owner of the current National Football League champion New England Patriots. Kraft led a festive ceremony launching the event on Sunday at Kraft Stadium, which he built in Jerusalem.
In 1994, Kraft purchased the Patriots, the football team he loved as a fan, despite its lackluster record. He has since won four Super Bowls.
“It reminds me of the story of Moses,” Kraft told Israel Hayom. “For 40 years, the team was in the desert, and the moment I bought it, it began winning titles.”
At the ceremony, Kraft sang the Israeli and the American national anthems, and had trouble concealing his excitement.
“I am very emotional,” he said.
Kraft expressed his joy at being in Jerusalem and his hope to one day see an Israeli player in the NFL.
“My first trip to Israel was in 1963, for my honeymoon, and I remember how angry I was when I looked out from the balcony at the King David Hotel and saw armed Jordanian soldiers keeping me from visiting the holy sites,” he said. “After the Six-Day War, we were all able to go and pray. I was in favor of building bridges between the peoples.”
Kraft said Israel is his “favorite place to be” after the U.S.

Bibles Pour into Cuba to Meet Christianity Boom

Bibles Pour into Cuba to Meet Christianity Boom

Christians in Cuba received more than 83,000 Bibles earlier this month from the International Missions Board.
The Bibles come at a time of growth in the evangelical church in Cuba.
The Baptist Convention in Cuba is distributing the Bibles to believers in more than 1,000 churches all over the island.
Bibles have not been sold in Cuban bookstores for more than 50 years. The only place people can get one is at a church.
Churches have relied on Bible donations, which have had a hard time keeping up with the growing number of believers in the past few years.

Key Prophetic Revelation from Our Firstfruits Celebration!

Dear Advancers,

Last Sunday morning during our Firstfruits Celebration, the Spirit of the Lord moved so powerfully.

Here is some of the prophetic revelation released at that time which will help you move forward in this month:
"Truly I am a God who has not forgotten your labor of love in this past season. For surely I have seen your works, I have seen your persistence, and I have seen your faith when you believed Me, when there was nothing to believe in the natural. Now I step you into a new place! In this season, it shall not be by the heavy labor and by the persistence of doing what you know to do, where there's nothing in the natural.

For I shall begin to manifest, and I shall cause you to begin to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.

"For I'm going to come upon you and I'm going to open doors for you. I shall cause you to step into that which shall be even as the children of Israel, when they crossed into My promise and they received crops that they did not plant.

They received that which they did not labor for, in that new season. This is a season when you shall see the goodness of the Lord.

I shall cause even the new place of 'joy and release' to come forth, when you see that I am taking off of you the yoke of the past season. (Photo via Wikimedia)

"In this season you shall celebrate the goodness of the Lord. For I shall even surprise you at My goodness and My faithfulness. So know I have seen the labor of the past season, know I have seen the persistence and the faith, and know that I have not forgotten your works of goodness. Now step into a new season and receive that for which you did not labor.

"Stand in Faith for Your Region"

"I've heard your groaning from the earth. I hear the sound, and it's coming into My ears; there is a sound from earth that wants to join the heavenly host. I am about to loose over your region a heavenly host such as this region has not seen before. As you cry out, I will answer from Heaven and I will send. Stand in faith for your region; stand in faith for this state. I have heard your cry and I am about to loose the host that will do war, on your behalf.

"I am networking faith, and I am connecting. Gather yourselves in troops, o daughters of Zion. Prepare for a gathering of faith! There's a faith troop this hour that I will release; it's a new thing that you have not previously seen. So gather your faith into troops, o daughter of Zion. One can put a thousand, two can put ten-thousand to flight... gather your faith into troops, o daughter of Zion.

"For some will work, and others will war. This is a day of finding your place, for I am re-positioning My troops. Heaven is beginning to go before you. Therefore, I am calling you into new levels of unions and alignments. I am putting you in place, and even though some of you have been on the shelf, you're coming in. And even though some of you have been lost, you're being found. (Photo via Pixabay)

"This is a time of My gathering. Hear the gathering of Heaven, and you will begin to find your path and align yourself in a new way. For I will have a faith explosion; a manifested Glory faith explosion is now coming into the earth!

"Get the Doors Ready!"

"For in this week, many doors that you have not used will be used. Many of you will have to clean the doors, and others will have to remove the hinges of the door. For once you get the door ready, then many will come; many that have been seeking refuge will find the refuge that you carry inside!

So get the doors ready! Clean them up, dust them off, and remove the hinges. Hear My voice in this week, and get the doors ready for My Kingdom to come in a brand new way! They are waiting for you to get ready – so get the doors ready now!

"Wherever you are, you have a sound in this hour! Whoever you are, you have a sound in this hour that will dispel all darkness! It will empty the enemy of its power; every plot, every plan will be destroyed! I am opening up the highways in the heavens. I am opening the freeways in the heavens. Set your feet in these places, because I will move you quickly now on that road.

"You've been in a whole lot of traffic jams when the traffic's moving slowly, but I would come up to those highways and you will go, go, go, go, go. I will accelerate, accelerate. As you move in faith, as you hear Me, and you respond, I will accelerate you in the heavenly ways, the highways. (Photo via flickr)

"You will look down and see the traffic clogs, but you will not be in them, because I have called you higher. I have opened up a door; I have opened up a portal, when you go from 'point A,' to 'point B.' Come up first through the portal. I can show you the way through the traffic jams you're in. I have alternate routes for you. I have the ability to even form a new highway above where you are.

Watch Me this week, for when things get jammed up, you will see your way through and into the route I have for you!

"It's a realm of faith, it's a supernatural realm, and you have wondered 'Why have my feet, not been in the right places?' I say it's because you haven't been walking in heavenly places as I called you to. So come up, come up, come up into a supernatural realm, where there is no sweat on your brow. Many wars will be won with worship, from your mouth. So come into this realm now!"

Barley looks similar to wheat but is smaller and surrounded by long ‘hair-like’ strands, from which it received its name ‘Se’ora’ which is very similar to the Hebrew word for hair, ‘Se-ar’. In biblical times, the barley harvest would be brought to the Temple in Jerusalem in a joyous ceremony that showed the importance of dedicating a portion of our crops to our Creator before we eat from them ourselves. Major Reforming Happening by Doug Addison

Major Reforming Happening

by Doug Addison

Identity Network

If you are reading this then congratulations, you have made it through some very uncertain times. The good news is that things are going to start getting progressively better after this month.

This is from my prophetic word for 2015 that I released last January: There will be another major spiritual shift in June (the first one was in May of this year) and "June gloom" will lift and the fog of forgetfulness will be removed. God will begin to bring to your memory promises you have forgotten. This will set the pace for the rest of the year. Watch for things to "fall into place" in the fall.

Take Cover

When I say, "Take cover," most people think of something negative coming. But God is saying that if you stay under His covering things will work out great. Don't be distracted by things that are in disarray right now. Things are going to smooth out in July.

Psalm 91:1-4 Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, "He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust." Surely he will save you from the fowler's snare and from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.

The enemy wants you to think that you missed something or messed up.

Take cover in God and you will not have to worry.

Major Reformation

Watch for big things from small beginnings. If you have ever heard God say to you, "Don't despise humble beginnings," understand that God is gathering small groups together to do something great. It is important to be aligned in the right place, at the right time and with the right people for the second half of the year.

We will see a shift come as we get aligned with God's purposes for our lives. There is a major reformation at hand!

• Repositioning
• Regrouping
• Reshaping
• REFORMING

2:22

I keep seeing 2:22 on the clock. God spoke to me about this through Daniel 2:22:

Daniel 2:19-22 During the night the mystery was revealed to Daniel in a vision. Then Daniel praised the God of heaven and said: Praise be to the name of God forever and ever; wisdom and power are his. He changes times and seasons; he deposes kings and raises up others. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the discerning. He reveals deep and hidden things; he knows what lies in darkness, and light dwells with him.

Watch for These Things Starting in June:

God is speaking through dreams and visions. The season is changing. Expect to see changes coming as God raises up new leaders for this next movement coming. God is revealing deep mysteries that have not been revealed. Expect to have hidden things revealed and a strategy on how to respond.

How to Move in what God is Doing Right Now

Develop this foundation:
  • Agree that all things are possible for those who believe.
  • "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." Philippians 4:13 NKJV " … but with God all things are possible." Matthew 19:26 NIV
  • Understand that God is not angry and is not out to harm you.
  • God is the giver of good gifts.
  • God is a loving Father who wants to give us good things.
  • God is for you and not against you or mad at you.
  • God is not causing the bad things that we see happening in the world.
  • God wants to give us the desires of our heart and wants to do this as our heart becomes more like His. Psalm 37:4
  • God wants to give you hope, a future, and not harm you. He longs to see you prosper and succeed. Jeremiah 29:11
  • You are truly a new creation in Christ, and old things no longer have power over you unless you allow them to.
Log jams

God showed me that many people are suffering from cloudy vision and confusion because of a critical spirit. When we judge others we can block blessings from flowing to us. Consider these verses that have to do with giving …

Luke 6:37-38 "Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven. Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you."

People are suffering from spiritual log jams. For the most part it is from holding judgments against others.

Matthew 7:3-4 "Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' when all the time there is a plank in your own eye?"

Overall it is a time of major transition. Things are going to start to flow more freely. God is going to reveal a strategy that you need to flow in His will and timing for the remainder of the year.

Can you sense the transition? Ask God if you have any areas of blindness due to a "log of judgment" in your eye. God is gracious and is preparing you for increase! Remember to rise above your current circumstance and don't let anything stop you!

Blessings,

7 Reasons Why High-Profile Leaders Like Tullian Tchividjian Fail

7 Reasons Why High-Profile Leaders Like Tullian Tchividjian Fail

Tullian Tchividjian
Tullian Tchividjian has resigned his position at his church after having an affair. (YouTube)
Within weeks, two of my heroes have fallen from grace, and some of my friends in pastoral ministry have taken detours in their destiny as well. Moral failings among leaders are becoming an epidemic. No one is beyond the reach of Satan's grasp. Although I'm disappointed, my faith is not shaken because only Christ should be placed on a pedestal.

Why do they fall? They fall for the same reason that all Christians fall. Each of us are drawn away by our own evil desires and enticed. When these desires are acted upon, they lead to sin (cf. James 1:14-15). Sin has a life cycle—it either grows or withers depending on whether we feed or starve it. John Owen, the prolific Puritan author wrote, "Be killing sin, or sin will be killing you."

Consider the following ways that sin gains entrance:

1. "It will never happen to me." 1 Corinthians 10:12 reminds us that if we think that we are standing firm, we should be careful that we don't fall. "Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall" (Proverbs 16:18). Pride says, "I've never committed adultery. It will never happen to me." Humility says, "By the grace of God, I haven't, but I can." Strength is found in admitting our weaknesses: "For when I am weak I am strong" (2 Corinthians 12:10). Pride opens the door to compromise and unwise decisions; it ignores conviction. Conviction is not always a hammer to the head, it's a still small voice to the heart. Sadly, many confuse God's patience with His approval. C.H. Spurgeon rightly noted, "We are never, never so much in danger of being proud as when we think we are humble."

2. I'm "too busy." We are all susceptible to putting God second and ministry first. If we're too busy to cultivate a prayer life that places God first—we're too busy. Men would live better if they prayed better. We're often too busy because we're doing too much. "When faith ceases to pray, it ceases to live" (E.M. Bounds). It's hard to fall when you're always on your knees. Moral failing cannot gain a stronghold in a broken, praying heart that spends time in the Word and obedience to it (cf. James 1:22). Nine times out of ten, when a leader falls, he or she has no meaningful prayer or devotional life.

3. Holiness is compromised. The enemy attempts to draw us away from God's holy standard. I vividly remember a story of a young boy who kept falling out of his bed. He finally asked his mother why he kept falling. She wisely answered, "It's because you don't stay far enough in." In the same way, many of us fall back into sin because we don't get far enough into God's framework of safety and protection via holiness. In the words of Isaac Watts, "True Christianity, where it reigns in the heart, will make itself appear in the purity of life."

Of all the attributes of God described in the Bible, holiness is seen most often. Holiness is a vital weapon of defense against the enemies attack (cf. Ephesians 6:14). But holiness must come from brokenness and humility not legalism. A low view of holiness always damages morality...we rationalize instead of repent. I'm convinced that today's media plays a significant role in the decline of holiness. Sadly, hollywood, not the Holy Spirit, influences many. We cannot fill our mind with darkness all week and expect the light of Christ to shine in our lives.

4. Many build unhealthy relationships with the opposite sex. We must be on high alert in this area and have tremendous steps of accountability in place. The devil doesn't show those involved in counseling appointments, inner office meetings, and private "fellowship" the pain and anguish and the years of regret that moral failure brings; he deceives them with a false sense of freedom in ministry...that we are simply "helping" the other person. If you are married and attracted to another person, or if the potential is there, take steps now and remove yourself from the environment. Adultery begins with small compromises. We're often too smart to take deliberate plunges, but we're easily enticed to take one step at a time, one compromise at a time, one bad choice at a time until we're at the bottom. Don't fight sexual desires; don't entertain them...flee (cf. 1 Corinthians 6:18).

5. We fail to strengthen weak areas. The demands of life often tempt us to seek gratification in alcohol and other things. We must be on high alert. The enemy uses "opportune times" to draw us away from God. (cf. Luke 4:13.) The line is so thin that it is often hard to determine when we cross over. Weak areas such as drugs, alcohol, pain meds, sex, anger, marriage issues, and so on are "opportune times" for the enemy to strike. We must expose these areas through repentance, and install safeguards and accountability. To be forewarned is to be forearmed. (As a sidenote, depression and anxiety can work against us as well. Much can be done to safeguards these areas too.

6. Accountability is often breached or minimized. Accountability is a safeguard, but its not bullet-proof. Accountability, by itself, doesn't work—it's not realistic to ask others to hold you accountable. Your heart must be focused on honoring God's Word. Accountability simply adds another level of security in the battle against sin. It's healthy to say to those we trust, "I'm struggling in this area. Can you pray with me and ask the hard questions from time to time." The enemy loves to work in darkness and deceit. Exposing cracks in the armour helps others keep an eye on them as well. This is one reason why I'm upfront about avoiding alcohol.

I also have accountability software that sends all websites visited to my wife's email every week. This is a major deterrent and it makes me very conscious of even seemingly innocent sites. To some, this may seem extreme, but we need to be armed for the enemy who steals, kills, and destroys. The greater our influence, the greater the need for accountability: spiritually, financially, and relationally.

7. Loneliness becomes an excuse. Ministry is hard and can easily take it's toll. Feeling a sense of entitlement if often the beginning of justifying wrong choices. We can easily become jealous and judgmental of those who seem to have "all the fun." As Oswald Chambers states: "God buries His men [and women] in the midst of paltry things, no monuments are erected to them; they are ignored, not because they are unworthy, but because they are in the place where they cannot be seen." Luke 16:10 should be a great encouragement, "So you also, when you have done everything you were told to do, should say, 'We are unworthy servants; we have only done our duty'." Sin can be silenced in a thankful heart set on worshiping God. God has given us the privilege to serve Him, proclaim His truth, and help others. Don't allow frustration and negativity to lead you down the wrong path.

In closing, if you are on the cliff or have already fallen, take time now and repent. It will hurt, but the fruit of repentance far outweighs the fruit of exposure that will surely come (cf. Numbers 32:23). God's grace will see you through. A penitent person turns from sin. They accept full responsibility for their actions without blame, resentment, or bitterness. They seek forgiveness without conditions and stipulations. They take full (not partial) responsibility for their actions. There can be no "but's" when repentance is genuine. "I am sorry. I was wrong. Please forgive me," are often (although not always) healing words and signs of repentance. Excuses need to stop before healing can occur.

There are consequences for past mistakes, but it's best to live in God's healing arms of forgiveness, rather than to live broken outside of His will. Which way will you turn?
