Does the President's Faith Really Make Any Difference?

Does the President's Faith Really Make Any Difference?

In February we celebrated the birthdays of George Washington and Abraham Lincoln, two presidents whose deep but somewhat unconventional faith has evoked great debate. Does the faith of presidents truly matter? Does it significantly affect how they think, live, and govern?  Concluding that it does not, most biographers have treated presidents' religious convictions as no more important than hobbies such as collecting stamps or playing golf. Many other Americans, however, have considered the faith of presidents as either a cause for celebration or alarm. While Christians often campaigned vigorously and voted in droves for candidates who shared their faith, their foes warned that the dangerous religious views of other presidential aspirants made them unacceptable for the nation's highest office.
In the presidential campaign of 1800, Federalists denounced Thomas Jefferson as an infidel who would subvert the nation's Christian foundation. Rumors spread that, if elected, Jefferson would use public funds to entice civil servants, teachers, military officers, and even ministers to either ignore religion or teach secularism. After Jefferson won, these claims prompted many Federalists in New England to bury their Bibles in their gardens so that his administration could not destroy them.
In 1908, Theodore Roosevelt assured apprehensive prospective voters that William Taft's Unitarian faith did not disqualify him from being president. Twenty years later, fundamentalist Protestants argued that Democratic candidate Al Smith's Catholicism made him unfit to be president. Despite John F. Kennedy's assurances that he would be guided by the Constitution and his conscience, not the pope, his Catholic faith was as controversial in 1960 as Smith's had been in 1928.
Jimmy Carter's affirmation that he was born again baffled and frightened many Americans as did George's W. Bush's assertion that Jesus was his favorite philosopher. Many worried that their decisions would be based on what they perceived God wanted them to do rather than on the advice of their cabinet and the nation's strategic needs.
Are these concerns justified? Does the faith of presidents truly affect how they govern?  Does it help shape their perspectives, policies, actions, and decisions?  The answer depends on which chief executives we are discussing. The faith of some presidents (such as Kennedy ironically) mattered little. The faith of many others, including Hoover, Carter, Bush, and surprisingly Jefferson, strongly influenced their political philosophy and policies.
Although it is impossible to disentangle the personal religious convictions of presidents from their use of religion to serve partisan political purposes, many of them were more deeply religious and had more vibrant personal devotional lives than most scholars have recognized. Presidents use religious language and engage in religious practices to win public approval and gain political advantages. Therefore, we must judge whether their faith is authentic by examining their private correspondence as well as their public pronouncements and evaluating the testimonies of those who knew them best. We must also assess their statements and behavior before, during, and after their presidencies.
Their religious practices—frequent church attendance, prayer, and reading of the Bible—close relationships with some religious groups, regular use of religious rhetoric, and particular policies all testify that their faith was important to many chief executives. Most presidents have worshipped consistently to continue their life-long practice, seek divine guidance, set a good example, or to please prospective voters. Almost all presidents have extensively used moral and biblical language to console grieving Americans, provide assurance in times of crisis, celebrate religious holidays, and promote particular policies.
The faith of many presidents has also helped shape their policies and determine their decisions. Numerous other factors—strategic considerations, national security, party platform commitments, campaign promises, political philosophy, relationships, and reelection concerns—affect their decisions. Nevertheless, their religious commitments have strongly affected the policies many presidents adopted. Religious beliefs helped inspire George Washington's quest to guarantee religious liberty, Jefferson's to ensure peace, and Abraham Lincoln's to end slavery. Their Christian convictions helped prompt William McKinley to declare war against Spain and take control of the Philippines, Theodore Roosevelt to establish national parks, Woodrow Wilson to devise the Treaty of Versailles, Herbert Hoover to reform prisons, and Franklin Roosevelt to remedy the ills of the Great Depression. Harry Truman's decision to recognize Israel, Dwight Eisenhower's attempt to reduce armaments, Carter's quest to promote human rights, Ronald Reagan's crusade to crush communism, Bill Clinton's efforts to resolve international conflicts, George W. Bush's support for faith-based initiatives, and Barack Obama's policies on poverty were all motivated in large part by their faith.
Has the faith of presidents affected them and their administrations positively or negatively?  The answer to this question depends largely on how individuals view the religious convictions and policies of particular presidents. However, when people's faith gives them confidence, assurance, comfort, and inspiration, it is generally beneficial. People's faith often stimulates them to be more compassionate, generous, and hopeful and supplies a constructive blueprint for bettering society. Moreover, the faith of presidents has often greatly aided them in carrying out their demanding duties and serving as the nation's pastor-in-chief during crises and calamities.
Faith has played a very important and often controversial role in the lives of American presidents from George Washington to Barack Obama. Although the founders wisely separated church and state, religious belief and politics have often been inextricably joined and will undoubtedly continue to be.

Is America About to Be Knocked to the Mat?

9/27/2015  Jon Jones charisma news

Editorial note: The Bible says "now we see through a glass, dimly" (1 Cor. 13:12), indicating that looking at the future is never clear. We at Charisma Media feel that prophecies from respected leaders should be considered and discerned even though they sometimes disagree with what others are seeing.
By Jon Jones
Over the next several years, the world is going to experience upheaval, turmoil and extremely hard times in governments, economies throughout the world and in geophysical realms. These things will not come all at once, but will come upon the earth similar to a boxing match.
In the first rounds of most boxing matches, the blows delivered by each fighter are absorbed. However, eventually a blow comes that, because of the previous blows, will cause a fighter to fall to the mat.
During a fight there are times of reprieve. We have been experiencing a reprieve and will experience more of those times in the future. Eventually, the ability of the fighter to absorb the punches diminishes and the final punch is delivered, resulting in a knockout.
For many years now, our country has been able to absorb numerous punches, but we are now entering the later rounds of the match. Punches that were absorbed in the early rounds are about to come again. This time, those punches will not be as easily absorbed. America is about to be knocked down to the mat.
In Acts 2, the Holy Spirit comes to the believers, fulfilling what Jesus said in John 16:7-11. In Acts 2:14, Following this encounter with the Holy Spirit, we find Peter speaking to the people, explaining what is happening. Peter refers back to a prophetic word by the prophet Joel, speaking of a time when God would pour out His Spirit on all flesh.
At the time of Joel's writing, the Holy Spirit would rest upon a few men or women who would then prophesy, declaring things God had revealed to them about people, nations, armies, weather, famines and other things. This passage establishes that we are in the last days and, when His Spirit is poured out on us today, we can receive revelation from God.
This revelation can come in the form of a predictive warning, direction regarding decisions and many other things. However, the most important result of prophecy is described in 1 Corinthians 2:1-4. Here we find Paul explaining that his "message and preaching were not in persuasive words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, so that your faith would not rest on the wisdom of men, but on the power of God."
Prophecy is a physical manifestation of a spiritual gift confirming to the hearer the message of Jesus and the cross. It demonstrates the reality of a sovereign God who interacts and communicates with His creation, which separates Christianity from all other religions.
In 1 Corinthians 14, we find examples of how prophecy is used in combination with the preaching of the gospel. In summary, as Paul says in 1 Corinthians 2:2, this is about Jesus Christ. Based on this foundation, I would like to share some things that have been revealed to me regarding what is coming in the near future.
We Prophesy in Part
Scripture is clear that prophetic revelation coming from a single individual will not paint the full picture. First Corinthians 13:9 says, "For we know in part and we prophesy in part." Prophetic words have three parts: revelation (prophetic word), interpretation (meaning of the revelation) and application (what, if any, action should be taken and when, or if this should take place).
We are also told in 1 Corinthians 14:29 that we should "let two or three prophets speak, and let the others judge." These revelations should be considered prayerfully and brought before the Lord for discernment.
On June 24, 2013, I had a dream that I titled "The Redo of 2008." The dream revealed to me that our country was going to experience economic troubles similar to what happened in 2008. The difference is that the intensity and depth of the troubles will be greater and affect more people.
During the crash of 2008, there were many people who did not immediately feel the effects of the crash. Unless you were an investor in the markets or an employee who lost a job, life may not have been much different than before the crash. This time it will be different. While there will still be some who will not be affected, many more will feel the effects of the economic challenges that lay ahead.
I also believe that the "Redo of 2008" will carry over into other areas to include political, governmental and geophysical events. Many of the mistakes and actions to solve the problems that took place in 2008 will be attempted again. But unlike last time, those solutions will not be as effective.
On May 3, 2015, I had a dream that I titled "The Unprepared and the Unaffected." The dream revealed that during the next phase all economic classes would experience varying degrees of hardship. Some will notice little change and will be in a position to help others, while some who could have prepared did not and will need help.
I want to stress that the fall of 2015 will only be the beginning of economic turmoil. The economic shifting that is coming will continue to increase and intensify, eventually affecting the entire world in the years to come. As was illustrated in the boxing analogy, there will be short periods of reprieve, but we are entering into a historical time that will result in great change for people throughout the world.
The Doors of August 2015 through January 2016
On April 5, 2015, I had a prophetic vision that I will share with you just as I received it. While some of the things revealed seem to have an obvious fulfillment, other aspects are open to interpretation.
In the vision, I found myself in a long hallway with many doors. Each door represented a month of the year beginning in August of 2015 through January 2016. When I opened the door, I was able to get a picture of what life was like during that time for people in the U.S.
The first door I came to had August written on it. I opened the door and when I looked inside there were people walking around, talking and living life. I got the sense that everything seemed normal.
The next door had September written on it. When I opened the door, at first everything seemed to be normal. But then I began to see dollar bills falling from the ceiling. It was as though the beginning of the month was normal, but something happened that caused things to change.
The next door had October written on it. I opened the door and saw people who were crying and very upset. I sensed that they were upset because of what had happened in the previous month.
The next door had November written on it. When I attempted to open the door it was locked. It is possible that, in the near future, what is behind this door could be revealed.
The next door had December written on it. When I opened the door I saw rioting and looting taking place in a large city. The people were angry and very upset, but I didn't know why.
The final door in the hallway had January written on it. When I opened the door I saw extreme violence and killing that looked like war. I could not tell where this was taking place, but I saw U.S. soldiers fighting.
The months have an obvious progression of intensity, but I am not sure that they are all related. Keep in mind that these are like windows into the future and could represent isolated events that are unrelated. Not everyone will be affected by what is coming, but many will.
How Do We Respond?
We have to answer the question: "How do we respond?" We must decide if we should make changes in our lives, and ultimately that decision is different for everyone. The most important thing we can do is align our thinking with the reality of who God is in our lives and then look at all things through that perspective.
If you read this and fear rises in your heart, remember this truth: Our God is greater, our God is stronger and He is more than able to sustain us and carry us through any storm. Christ in us, the hope of glory (Col. 1:27), is greater than anything we will face here on earth. He will provide for our all our needs, both physical and spiritual, according to His riches in glory.
"For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, that He would give you, according to the riches of His glory, power to be strengthened by His Spirit in the inner man, and that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth and length and depth and height, and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly beyond all that we ask or imagine, according to the power that works in us, to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen" (Eph. 3:14-21).
Jon Jones of Gadsden, Alabama, is a successful businessman who has ministered numerous times in the Ukraine. For years he was nondenominational but now is a part of a Vineyard Church. He originally gave this word on July 8, 2015, and called it "What I See Coming to the U.S. This Fall 2015."
He says this about himself: "Prophetically, I am what some refer to as a 'seer.' I do not consider myself to be a 'prophet' and would disagree with anyone who might try to label me as such. I have been receiving prophetic words, visions and dreams for over 20 years. I do not have a ministry organization nor have I felt called to start one or make it my primary profession. I have the ability to interpret dreams and have taught dream interpretation classes at churches in other countries and in my local church. Over the past several years, I have begun receiving revelation about things that are coming to our country and the world."

Watch the Feast of Tabernacles Live from Israel
Feast of TabernaclesThe Feast of Tabernacles, or Sukkot, is the third great annual pilgrimage festival when the Jewish people gather together in Jerusalem not only to remember God's provision in the wilderness but also to look ahead to that promised Messianic age when all nations will flow to Jerusalem to worship the Lord.

"And it shall come to pass that everyone who is left of all nations which came against Jerusalem shall go up from year to year to worship the king, the lord of hosts, and to keep the Feast of Tabernacles." Zechariah 14:16

For the past thirty-five years, thousands of Christians from all over the world have come up to Jerusalem each fall to celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles, sponsored by the International Christian Embassy Jerusalem. They come with much expectancy to take part in a dynamic worship experience, knowing the One we worship will soon be sitting on His throne in this great city. Indeed, celebrating Sukkot now gives us a foretaste of the joy of the age to come.

Now, if you're unable to join us in Jerusalem, you can enjoy every evening of this amazing celebration via a free live stream from Israel. Just log onto http://feast.icej.org/live from September 27 to October 1, 2015.

"Responding in Faith Not Fear" - Sean Malone, Nashville, TN

The predicted coming crisis this fall is revealing the heart and shaking those things that can be shaken.
There has been a lot of talk and speculation about what is coming upon the world this fall. From N.Y. times bestsellers like The Harbinger and The Mystery of the Shemitah (Shemitah years are God's seven year cycles mentioned in Scripture and linked to economic activity) to contemporary prophets and Blood Moon preachers.
While we can't draw hard and fast doctrines from any of these things, they are signs that make one wonder. I personally have heard quite a bit about what is supposed to happen in America but very little about what we are to do.
Is it just me or does it feel like someone just sucked the air out of the room? It's like a collective gasp around the Body of Christ right now as many of us are frozen, stuck and unsure of what to do. Some are even locked up in fear while the enemy just laughs. But I believe God is raising up people who understand the times and know what to do.
From the tribe of Issachar, there were 200 leaders of the tribe with their relatives. All these men understood the signs of the times and knew the best course for Israel to take. 1 Chronicles 12:32 NLT
Just as God raised up the sons of Issachar who could interpret the times and know what to do, we need to be equipped with knowledge and wisdom on how to take action for the good of the Church and for the sake of the Gospel.
Faith Not Fear
No matter what happens this fall, none of it will take God by surprise. The answer to navigating the potentially troubled waters of this fall is rooted in faith and not fear. If your plan is to hunker down, hoard and just hold on, friends I am sorry you are missing the point. It would help us all to dig into the book of Hebrews to see a bigger picture. (Photo via pexels)
In Hebrews chapter 11 we see the many things the heroes of faith endured. By faith Noah, by faith Abraham, by faith Moses, they ran their race well and endured hardship "by faith" and became heroes of the faith. In chapter 12 we are reminded that God disciplines us as His sons and that we are to endure hardship as discipline from the Lord. Discipline is a sign of our sonship. He goes on to tell us that there is a time period that God will shake everything that can be shaken so that we can receive a Kingdom that cannot be shaken.
God's Shakings Are Redemptive in Nature
One thing we need to understand if we are talking about a God orchestrated shaking is that it is redemptive in nature and designed to perfect love for Him and for others. It's ultimately the first and second commandment coming into first and second place. Anything not under the Lordship of Christ needs to be and will be shaken away if it is hindering love for Him and others.
Think about that for a second.
What distractions are in your life that keep you from loving Him and others wholeheartedly? Right now is your heart tender and free from the cares of this life? Is He truly your magnificent obsession? Are you living fully for Him and through Him? Secondly, right now do you love others as yourself and carry a burden for the lost among the nations? This should serve as a tuning fork for our hearts because it is what is on His heart. (Photo via Pixabay)
How Will We Respond?
If this is true, our response to the potential shakings of this fall should look different. Our preparedness for an economic, political or even geological shaking should be more than a desperate attempt to hold onto our western lifestyles. Preparing for the days ahead is so much deeper than hoarding stuff. I have news for you, if that is your response than God may even shake that too. Do you really think He is looking for more western independence?
It makes me wonder how many people are paralyzed in fear right now of what's coming and have retreated from what God has called them to do. Our western Gospel of comfort that is devoid of the notion that we may suffer has fashioned a golden image of who God is. With the threat that their god may be shaken, people are locked down in fear. Shakings are the litmus test to show who we really serve. Ask yourself this question: How much of my lifestyle did I fabricate and how much of it is built on God's unshakable Kingdom?
ElijahList Prophetic Resources
Restoring the Second Commandment
The other aspect we need to understand is that in the shakings, God is restoring the second commandment as well as the first commandment. Love for others. What happens in the midst of a disaster or crisis? People come together and help each other. As we prepare for this fall, we need to be preparing to help others.
Today there is a prophecy about global crisis and the fear response is: Determine to prepare for survival and self-preservation. In the 1st century there was a prophecy about a global crisis (Acts 11:27-30) and the response was: Giving and aiding those impacted; each according to their ability determined to send relief to the brethren elsewhere.
We love to point fingers at the corporate depravity of our nation and say she deserves punishment while our hearts are just as bankrupt. Let's take this time to examine our own lives and actions before we point the finger at anyone around us and make sure we are caring for the poor, needy and hurting, heeding the warnings of Scripture for the actions of Sodom.
Now this was the sin of your sister Sodom: She and her daughters were arrogant, overfed and unconcerned; they did not help the poor and needy. They were haughty and did detestable things before me. Therefore I did away with them as you have seen. Ezekiel 16:49-50
Folks it is an upside down Kingdom. You give it away to keep it and this is a sign your heart is free. Again, if God is dealing corporately with us in America then our preparedness should be more of the heart than a fear-based grasp to hold onto our western lifestyles. Now there is nothing wrong with preparing your home, neighborhood, church and business for crisis and disaster.
Here at CRI we hold seminars on how to train people to do so. However as the Church we need to take inventory of our hearts motivation to make sure we are not hunkering and bunkering in fear but rather getting ready to help others and be the glorious Church in that hour. If something is out from under the Lordship of Christ right now in your life then you want that dealt with now and not later. (Photo via Pixabay)
Hebrews 11:7 says "By faith Noah, when warned about things not yet seen, in holy fear built an ark to save his family..." It says that Noah by faith... in holy fear prepared for his family.
Are you responding in faith or fear? Let's choose faith. We are praying and believing for an outpouring of God's Spirit on the hearts and minds of those in our nation. Let's humble ourselves before the Lord and believe that together we'll see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.
If we are going to be looking at the Biblical calendar as a way that God deals with His people then remember the Shemitah ended on September 13th and the year of Jubilee started on September 23rd. I encourage you to be believing for great things!

Experts Say the Final Blood Moon Will Mark Major “Turning Point in History” [VIDEO] - Occurs Sept. 27, 2015

Experts Say the Final Blood Moon Will Mark Major “Turning Point in History” [VIDEO]

“The sun shall turn to darkness, and the moon to blood, prior to the coming of the great and awesome day of the Lord.” (Joel 3:4)
Blood Moon experts are predicting major “turning points in history” when on September 28th, the fourth and final blood moon in the current tetrad series will take place during the commencement of the Sukkot (Feast of Tabernacles) holiday.
This will be the fourth time in two years that a blood moon will occur on the Jewish holiday of either Tabernacles or Passover. The significance of the event has many Jews and Christians looking to the skies and gearing up for a major event that will affect the course of both Jewish and world history.
In the past millennia, only four documented tetrads have occurred on or around the Jewish holidays of Passover and Sukkot, and each one was followed by a major event that shifted Jewish and global history. Those tetrads occurred in the years 1428-1429, 1493-1494, 1949-1950, 1967-1968, and now, in 2014-2015.
Bob O’Dell and Gidon Ariel, founders of Root Source, an educational program in which Orthodox Israeli Jews teach Christians about the Bible and Judaism from a Jewish perspective, spoke to Breaking Israel News about the significance of this event.
Both O’Dell and Ariel believe that the importance of heavenly signs should not be ignored, and that some change is to be expected in the coming year, which just so happens to be a Jubilee year.
“We are not at all predicting the end of the world or the arrival of the Messiah in September,” said O’Dell. However, “If you look at all the blood moons that have occurred in history, you see that every time they arrive, they mark turning points in history – major new trends involving the Jewish people.” O’Dell added the disclaimer that these trends often take many years to play out.
What does Shmittah, Blood Moons and the coming Jubilee have in common? Find out now!
For instance, the tetrad in 1428-1429 marked the end of a big wave of forced conversions for the Jews in Spain, and the tetrad in 1493-1494 signaled the end of the Spanish inquisition, which concluded with the expulsion of the Jews from Spain in 1492.
“We can now look back and see that the nation of Spain was peaking in power, while God was preparing a new home for the Jews with the founding of America through Christopher Columbus,” O’Dell said.
He added that the heavenly signs also served to remind Jews of the connection between God and the Jewish people and their birthright of the land of Israel. “The blood moons occurring on those Jewish feast days were a witness that God had not forgotten His promise to return the Jews to their homeland,” said O’Dell.
In modern times, blood moons and tetrads have also pointed to significant dates. “With the blood moons of 1949-1950, 1967-1968 and 2014-2015, when we take them all together they are marking the three phases of the rebirth of the nation of Israel,” explained O’Dell.
According to O’Dell, the dates mark the creation of Israel as a nation in 1948, the unification of Jerusalem in 1967, “and as for 2015,” he said, “we will need to wait and see. But our guess is that it has to do with Israel being now able to stand upon its own without help from the United States. We also see the coming together of Christians and Jews in love and support of each other as a new spiritual trend as well.”
Gidon Ariel, the Israeli co-founder of Root Source, provided a historical perspective on the lunar occurrences. “I think that Jews paid more attention to the skies in previous eras. In Ethics of the Fathers 3:18, Rabbi Eliezer ben Hisma states that tekufot, seasons, referring to all astronomical sciences, are parparaot lachochma, side dishes of wisdom. Maimonides also went to great lengths to document lunar tables and the like,” he said.

BLOOD MOONS: What is God Telling Us?

Ariel pointed out that this trend has been largely neglected by modern Jews. “Today, some astronomy buffs might pick up on [the blood moons], but it is still pretty esoteric for the mainstream,” he told Breaking Israel News, adding, “That being said, I would mention there are more and more individuals and organizations dedicated to charting lunar data, some of them in preparation for renewing the Jewish lunar calendar based on r’eeyah, sighting, as part of the return to Temple service.”
O’Dell and Ariel have co-authored a book entitled “Israel FIRST!”, in which they highlight the importance of blood moons and other fascinating Biblical phenomenons. They hope to give the topic more appeal for both modern Jews and Christians in order to raise awareness and interest in the subject.
“For those who follow end-times prophecies, the blood moons are fascinating,” said O’Dell, explaining, “Heavenly signs are mentioned in some of the end-times Bible passages and moons specifically.”
O’Dell pointed out that the current blood moon is different from previous ones in that it will be visible in both Israel as well as in North America. “The four eclipses in 1949-1950 were all visible from Israel. The four in 1967-1968 and the four in 2014-2015 are all visible from the USA – an extremely rare occurrence. But this very last blood moon in September is visible from both Israel and the USA simultaneously. It is something to ponder,” he said.

A Great Move of God is Coming, But He Will Use the Unqualified - Steve Strang

Strang Report, by Steven Strang, Founder of Charisma magazine
When Pat Schatzline wrote I Am Remnant in 2014, it hit such a chord with people that he renamed his ministry "Remnant Ministries International." As he traveled around the country speaking at churches, pastors and others would tell him—often with tears—how it resonated with them and that they were part of the remnant God was calling, but that they felt unqualified.
That led to his latest book, Unqualified, which shows how God always uses those who are unqualified to accomplish His will—in other words, those who are humble and know they must depend on God because they can't do it themselves.
The book resonated with me because I certainly felt unqualified when I started Charisma magazine as a 24-year-old newspaper reporter. I still feel unqualified as I try to mobilize the church, involve myself with the culture wars or speak at places like the United Nations about the persecuted church.
I had the privilege of publishing Unqualified, but time doesn't allow me to read all the magazines, Internet content and books we publish. Yet somehow I felt drawn to this book. I try always to read a book during my daily quiet time to challenge me spiritually, and I'm glad I read this one.
Pat is the consummate storyteller. Known for his crazy humor and unique ability to communicate God's Word with passion, he says his desire is to introduce a generation to the awesome love of the Father and to see God's last day remnant make a stand for truth through the power of the Holy Spirit.
The chapter that grabs most readers is titled "Ah, Sovereign Lord," in which Pat shares how he learned the nature of God. He also tells about a troubling dream during the summer of 2014 in which a wave washed across a map of the United States. In the dream, he shouted to people to jump to safety. One day he was crying out to God, reminding Him that He'd promised never to destroy the world again with water.
He writes, "Then I heard God say, 'Son, the dream you had was not the destruction of America, but a wave of My glory that will flood America!
"I said, 'Lord, I want to see America shaken by Your glory, but it seems so far away.'  The Lord then spoke again to me. He said, "Get ready, because it is coming!"
How encouraging that message is in a time when what we see around us and the messages we hear from leaders are often the opposite.
I knew I was in for a treat when I saw 25 endorsements in the front of the book received before it was published. I'd never heard of many of the people, but there were also well-known leaders like Sid Roth who wrote, "If you are unqualified plus Jesus, you are qualified and chosen to be front and center for the greatest harvest in history."
Marcus Lamb went even further, "The book will help change the course of the church for generations to come."
One thing I liked is the way the author added "quotes" from a wide variety of people on what it means to be unqualified. These are "extras" because they aren't part of the text itself. If you simply flip through the book and read them with their gray background and different type font, they will inspire you.
Some like Joel Stockstill have national influence. He wrote, "The unqualified are those who have paid the price to walk closely with Jesus but have not been noticed by man for extreme gifting or personality. The playing field is being leveled by the Lord of the harvest and the laborers of true passion are being released."
Others were students like 20-year-old Tommy Vardaman of Portage, Indiana, who said,  "I would rather be considered unqualified, because then it is no longer about what I can do but what He can do through me."
The one I like best came from pro bass fisherman and winner of the 2014 Bassmaster Classic—Randy Howell of Springville, Alabama. He wrote, "The fishermen that Jesus called were the perfect example of the unqualified, but the only qualification Jesus asked for was faith."
Who should read this book?
  • Anyone like me who likes to be inspired during their quiet times
  • Pastors looking for pithy content to inspire their sermons
  • People in general who feel unqualified and want to be encouraged—almost like a spiritual pep talk
  • Those believing for an end-time harvest who want to understand strategies and to see God's plans and purposes
UnqualifiedPat's book is for the humble and for those with a heart to serve the kingdom.
"The spiritual depth of the unqualified will not come from degrees on the wall or memberships in prestigious God clubs, but from the classroom of brokenness," Pat says. "God doesn't look at polls or opinions when He chooses His leaders. He always looks for someone with a heart, regardless of what the world thinks."
Do you remember the book The Purpose-Driven Life by Rick Warren? It was also a book that resonated with people. But when it came out, Rick Warren was not well known. Pastors and others who had been touched by his ministry began talking about the book. The book took off, inspiring and influencing millions to find purpose in their lives.
I urge you to purchase Unqualified and read it. It's available wherever Christian books are sold or you can quickly download it on Kindle. You can purchase it through one of the online bookstores like Christian Book Distributors or amazon.com.
Pat believes passionately in this message. He's on a mission. The book is born out of that—not just a desire to write a book. But, he needs your help to forward this message on social media or to talk about the book within your circle of friends.
