The Prophetic Impact of This Year's Teshuvah Season—Part 1 - KELLY MCDONALD JR. CHARISMA NEWS

This period is also called the season of the open windows of heaven. (Wikimedia Commons)

Standing With Israel

This week, we enter into a special season known as Teshuvah. Teshuvah comes from the Hebrew root word shuv, which means to turn or return. It coincides with the Hebrew month called Elul. This month-long period of introspection ends with the Feast of Trumpets (which begins Sept. 20 at sunset).
During this month, I encourage believers to spend time turning to God to compare where your life is to where it should be. It is a time where we examine ourselves, as Paul instructed us in 2 Corinthians 13:5. "Examine yourselves as to whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Do you not know that Jesus Christ is in you?—unless indeed you are disqualified."
We need to take serious time and compare our lives with the example of Christ. Where are we falling short? Ask God to forgive you for where you are falling short, but also ask for more of His grace and strength. Ask God to impart more Holy Spirit power into your life so that you can overcome your areas of difficulty.
This period is also called the season of the open windows of heaven. "Seek the Lord while He may be found, Call upon Him while He is near" (Isa. 55:6). This is the time of the year to make serious petitions to God for areas where we have need in our lives. Do you have family members who are lost? Have they strayed from God? This is the season to ask for God to bring them back. Of course, our nation definitely needs prayer at this time.
Does your family or marriage need repair? Really begin to seek God about how it can be turned around. Do you have other needs such as health or finances? I encourage you to make a list of areas you need God's provision and begin to declare God's provision over them. Make goals and plans to achieve the areas that need attention. After all, God wrote down His plans in the Holy Bible.
As we enter this special time of the year, you will see more and more people online sharing understanding on the season of Teshuvah. What you may not be aware of is the special prophetic meaning concealed in this time.
We will finish this two-part series next time!

Preparing for Passover - ONE FOR ISRAEL

Dr Erez Soref President of  ONE FOR ISRAEL
Shalom!

Spring is a lovely time of year in Israel - the flowers are blooming, and the weather is pleasant before the intense heat of summer. It was great to get out of the classroom with our students to explore the land of Israel together.

Sitting in an amphitheater that was likely standing in the time of Yeshua, quite close to his home town of Nazareth, the students learned about local history, archaeology and also enjoyed some teaching on the Gospel of Mark from Dr Seth Postell, our Academic Dean.

Now we just have one more week of studies before the Passover holiday next week!

10 MILLION VIEWS: "JEWISH MAN TURNS TO JESUS AND EXPLAINS WHY IN A WAY YOU NEVER HEARD BEFORE!"

Eitan explains how it all started: "A simple partnership that turned into perhaps the most effective tool to ever exist in reaching the Jewish people with the message of the Gospel, and blessing many gentiles as a blessed side effect!" Continue reading...

STAFF IN THE SPOTLIGHT: Varya Plashko, Online Studies

We would like to introduce you to Varya, who heads up our Online Studies department. Varya has a background in linguistics and is fluent in three languages, but for her Masters degree she studied the subject of her passion: Land of Israel Studies.

She studied Israel's history along with the land itself with all its beautiful nature at Bar Ilan University in Tel Aviv, considered one of the best for subjects pertaining to Israel, the Jewish scriptures and heritage.

Varya loves to be in nature, and goes hiking all around the land of Israel at every opportunity, but when she has to be in her office, she brings as much of nature inside to join her as she can! She loves to help people learn about Israel, the Bible, and the history of the Jewish people and is always excited to see people signing up for online courses.

DID YOU KNOW SPRING CLEANING IS COMMANDED IN THE BIBLE?!

Changes are happening in Israeli supermarkets - cleaning products are on special offer, and sections of "Kosher for Pesach" goods are appearing with no traces of yeast in them. At this time of year, everyone gets busy spring cleaning, as the Festival of Unleavened Bread approaches, and the Bible commands that all leaven must be removed from the house.

In Passover tradition, leaven represents sin, and we remember the miracle of the Angel of Death passing over the Hebrew houses that were protected by the blood of a lamb. Isn't it funny that about this time of year, Yeshua also gave the House of God a good spring clean? Continue reading...

SHOULD CHRISTIANS CELEBRATE PASSOVER?

Whether or not a Christian celebrates Passover is a matter of personal conscience. Like all other Jewish Feasts, it is a foreshadowing of Yeshua... Passover speaks of his atoning work as the Lamb of God. Colossians 2:16-17 tells us that we should "let no one judge us in food or in drink, or regarding a festival or a new moon or Sabbaths..." Christians are no longer bound to observe the Passover Feast the way the Jewish people were commanded to, but it is very interesting and beneficial to dig into the symbolism nonetheless. Continue reading...

Experts Say the Final Blood Moon Will Mark Major “Turning Point in History” [VIDEO] - Occurs Sept. 27, 2015

Experts Say the Final Blood Moon Will Mark Major “Turning Point in History” [VIDEO]

“The sun shall turn to darkness, and the moon to blood, prior to the coming of the great and awesome day of the Lord.” (Joel 3:4)
Blood Moon experts are predicting major “turning points in history” when on September 28th, the fourth and final blood moon in the current tetrad series will take place during the commencement of the Sukkot (Feast of Tabernacles) holiday.
This will be the fourth time in two years that a blood moon will occur on the Jewish holiday of either Tabernacles or Passover. The significance of the event has many Jews and Christians looking to the skies and gearing up for a major event that will affect the course of both Jewish and world history.
In the past millennia, only four documented tetrads have occurred on or around the Jewish holidays of Passover and Sukkot, and each one was followed by a major event that shifted Jewish and global history. Those tetrads occurred in the years 1428-1429, 1493-1494, 1949-1950, 1967-1968, and now, in 2014-2015.
Bob O’Dell and Gidon Ariel, founders of Root Source, an educational program in which Orthodox Israeli Jews teach Christians about the Bible and Judaism from a Jewish perspective, spoke to Breaking Israel News about the significance of this event.
Both O’Dell and Ariel believe that the importance of heavenly signs should not be ignored, and that some change is to be expected in the coming year, which just so happens to be a Jubilee year.
“We are not at all predicting the end of the world or the arrival of the Messiah in September,” said O’Dell. However, “If you look at all the blood moons that have occurred in history, you see that every time they arrive, they mark turning points in history – major new trends involving the Jewish people.” O’Dell added the disclaimer that these trends often take many years to play out.
What does Shmittah, Blood Moons and the coming Jubilee have in common? Find out now!
For instance, the tetrad in 1428-1429 marked the end of a big wave of forced conversions for the Jews in Spain, and the tetrad in 1493-1494 signaled the end of the Spanish inquisition, which concluded with the expulsion of the Jews from Spain in 1492.
“We can now look back and see that the nation of Spain was peaking in power, while God was preparing a new home for the Jews with the founding of America through Christopher Columbus,” O’Dell said.
He added that the heavenly signs also served to remind Jews of the connection between God and the Jewish people and their birthright of the land of Israel. “The blood moons occurring on those Jewish feast days were a witness that God had not forgotten His promise to return the Jews to their homeland,” said O’Dell.
In modern times, blood moons and tetrads have also pointed to significant dates. “With the blood moons of 1949-1950, 1967-1968 and 2014-2015, when we take them all together they are marking the three phases of the rebirth of the nation of Israel,” explained O’Dell.
According to O’Dell, the dates mark the creation of Israel as a nation in 1948, the unification of Jerusalem in 1967, “and as for 2015,” he said, “we will need to wait and see. But our guess is that it has to do with Israel being now able to stand upon its own without help from the United States. We also see the coming together of Christians and Jews in love and support of each other as a new spiritual trend as well.”
Gidon Ariel, the Israeli co-founder of Root Source, provided a historical perspective on the lunar occurrences. “I think that Jews paid more attention to the skies in previous eras. In Ethics of the Fathers 3:18, Rabbi Eliezer ben Hisma states that tekufot, seasons, referring to all astronomical sciences, are parparaot lachochma, side dishes of wisdom. Maimonides also went to great lengths to document lunar tables and the like,” he said.

BLOOD MOONS: What is God Telling Us?

Ariel pointed out that this trend has been largely neglected by modern Jews. “Today, some astronomy buffs might pick up on [the blood moons], but it is still pretty esoteric for the mainstream,” he told Breaking Israel News, adding, “That being said, I would mention there are more and more individuals and organizations dedicated to charting lunar data, some of them in preparation for renewing the Jewish lunar calendar based on r’eeyah, sighting, as part of the return to Temple service.”
O’Dell and Ariel have co-authored a book entitled “Israel FIRST!”, in which they highlight the importance of blood moons and other fascinating Biblical phenomenons. They hope to give the topic more appeal for both modern Jews and Christians in order to raise awareness and interest in the subject.
“For those who follow end-times prophecies, the blood moons are fascinating,” said O’Dell, explaining, “Heavenly signs are mentioned in some of the end-times Bible passages and moons specifically.”
O’Dell pointed out that the current blood moon is different from previous ones in that it will be visible in both Israel as well as in North America. “The four eclipses in 1949-1950 were all visible from Israel. The four in 1967-1968 and the four in 2014-2015 are all visible from the USA – an extremely rare occurrence. But this very last blood moon in September is visible from both Israel and the USA simultaneously. It is something to ponder,” he said.

Shana Tova! Happy Jewish New Year! - Jews Will Blow the Shofar in Synagogues

Shana Tova! Happy Jewish New Year! The Shofar Resonates from the Past. Jews Will Blow the Shofar in Synagogues

"Blow the Shofar at the New Moon...Because It Is a Decree for Israel, a Judgment Day for the God of Jacob" - Psalms 81 Jews around the world prepare for Rosh Hashanna, the festive New Year holiday when the shofar -- ram's horn -- is blown in synagogues.

The American Colony photographers in Jerusalem recorded a dozen pictures of Jewish elders blowing the shofar in Jerusalem some 80 years ago. The horn was also blown in Jerusalem to announce the commencement of the Sabbath. During the month prior to Rosh Hashanna, the shofar was blown at daily morning prayers to encourage piety before the High Holidays.

5 'To-Dos' For Fall Feast-Related Events - Sandra Teplinsky

5 'To-Dos' For Fall Feast-Related Events

We all need to be ready for the fall feasts, no matter what we're anticipating in society.

Some Christian leaders warn that on or about Rosh Hashana (September 13, 2015) the U.S. economy will collapse, global disasters will result, and cataclysmic war against Israel will follow. At the outset, I must forthrightly say God has not told me that shattering life changes will occur in America or on a global level this coming month, this fall, this year or on any specific date.
But to be fair, He hasn't told me He won't change life, as the Western world knows it, in the near future either. In any case, the times are critical by most objective measures. And sin, which is intensifying rapidly on a global level, He must judge.
In prayerfully seeking Bible-based and Spirit-sensitive insight on the fall feast season from a Messianic Jewish perspective, here's the sum of what I've learned: God's gracious call to surrender more fully to Him is now urgent. If commotion about calendar convergence is what it takes for us to surrender to Him more fully, then that is what He'll use. Meanwhile, it is good that followers of Yeshua gain sensitivity to His calendar, the biblical calendar maintained faithfully by the Jewish people.
If you and I respond to God's call to surrender and something cataclysmic happens very soon, He will have prepared us. If we respond and nothing happens, He will still have had His way with us. We will still be better prepared for the future by being more conformed to the likeness of Yeshua.
In that spirit, I hope this article offers some clarity, biblical mooring and recalibration to believers who may be worried or troubled about the coming fall feasts.
5 'To-Dos' (Each begins with an "R" for ease in remembrance.)
1. Remember Who God is. To rightly engage with what God will do, we must first remember Who God is. Because He is holy and just, God judges sin. Because He is loving, He does what's best for us. Because He is merciful, He forgives when we turn to Him. Because He is sovereign, He's always in control. Because He's redemptive, He wants all humanity saved. Because He's victorious, He gives us peace. Because He's gracious, He provides what we need. Because He's covenant-keeping, He's passionately engaged with Israel. Our response to any future, major life change should derive from and reflect God's character (Exodus 3:13-14).
2. Remain in the Word. This point can't be overstated! Make time, if you don't have it, to abide in the cleansing vitality of God's Word. Humble yourself with fresh expectancy to be shown truth. From Scripture, God will prepare and empower you for whatever life brings, whenever (John 16:33).
3. Repent, personally. Ask the Holy Spirit to graciously reveal your own sin. And don't forget the sin of fearing the future! Not all, but many of the prophetic warnings about the fall feasts seem more fear-driven than divinely-driven. Focus less on personal survival and more on public revival. Humbly but boldly intercede for a nationwide spirit of repentance, that God's will be done on earth as it is in heaven. (2 Chronicles 7:14)
4. Rejoice in the fall feasts. Rosh Hashana, known more accurately as the Feast of Trumpets or Day of Judgment, should be welcomed, not dreaded. The biblical name for the holiday is Yom Teruah, literally meaning Day of Blasting. It is a day to blow trumpets, awakening God's people from spiritual slumber. Yom Teruah sounds an alarm to prepare us for reckoning and judgment ten days later on Yom Kippur (the Day of Atonement or Day of Covering). It is God's gracious call to judge ourselves so that He needn't do so. As we turn to Him we rejoice in His righteous judgments that will restore all things. We rejoice in the atoning sacrifice of His Son, Messiah Yeshua. We celebrate His dwelling with us forever, foreshadowed in the Feast of Tabernacles five days later (1 Corinthians 11:31).
5. Readiness. Get re-filled daily with the Holy Spirit. Shift from a defensive posture to the offensive! You and I are in a joyful war for souls. When crisis shakes complacency, opportunity results. Be ready to give the reason for the hope that's in you. It's reasonable, by the way, for readiness to involve the natural as well as supernatural. It's good, if you can, to store a few essentials for your family and others in need. The goal is not to selfishly hoard but selflessly help. Exactly how to make ready on a tangible level varies from person to person and place to place. But in every instance, we're told to do all from love, even as God's love will enable us to stand firm to the end (Luke 17:33, Matthew 24:12-13).
